Dr. Lonzarich is extremely helpful and easy to approach. His exams are relatively easy, as long as you take good notes and don't skip class. Very passionate and excited about teaching and you can tell he cares for his students and wants them to succeed. Definitely would take class from him again.
Do Not take any class with Him!!!!!!!!!!! it's a MUST STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!
He's funny, kind of a nerd at heart, easy to approach, his way of lecturing works!!! He uses a large screen to put up graphs/pictures/images to help explain while he's talking. It worked for me.
He's hard to follow, jumps around a lot during lectures
He is a great teacher, but he teaches hard material. I would rather have him than any other professor. He lightens his lectures up with his sometimes flustered and hilarious attitude.
He is sometimes jumps around with the topics he covers in class, and classes sometimes get long. But he is a really funny guy who LOVES to talk about his fish. He is really willing to help you too. If you take good notes and study...the tests are not so bad.
Dr. Lonzarich is a good guy. The class is tough, but I hear he's better than any other professor teaching that class. Lectures are random and kind of hard to follow, but write everything down, STUDY for the tests, then you'll be fine. It's not a class you can skip and slack and still expect do we
I really liked Lonzarich as a teacher. His tests were pretty difficult but going to the review sessions with the tutors really helped out a lot. He has a very interesting teaching technique and the lecture found themselves laughing at him quite a bit. Crazy guy.
He is hard to follow. He jumps around in lecture alot. His tests are extrememly hard. His lectures are usually somewhat interesting, but I didn't get a whole lot from the class. He expects you to learn on your own, only he has said before that he doesnt test from the book. He isn't approachable.
Great professor. Seems unaproachable at first but is very helpful. Makes the class interesting with stories.
Hes a nerd at heart, loves science. If you screw off in his lecture you'll be sorry (He'll mock you in front of the group.) However, if you're a good student, this is a great class! He is a good speaker, and if you listen and take notes you dont even have to read the book.
He is a good professor, but he just likes to jump around a lot with the material. It can get to be a little hard to follow.
Dr. Lonzarich has a great way of presenting his lecture to the class. He keeps kids interested with his hilarious stories so you never get bored. His tests are very hard so make sure you attend class and TAKE NOTES. STUDY LOTS for the tests and you will be fine. Would recommend Dr. L to anyone.
This was one of the worst professors I have ever had. Tries to make tests overly difficult and seems to like it when students think they are really hard. TONS of work to do all the time. Don't take unless all your other classes are really easy and you have a lot of extra time.
All I can say is that he LOVES talking about FISH. Be prepared! He's a funny guy but his exams are really hard, so make sure you go to class or you'll be screwed on the tests! Reading the book doesn't matter--just study his notes
the difficulty of this class made me change my major. he was a nice guy, just was not very helpful. jumps around in matterial. if he knows your name he will call you out in class to answer questions - if you aren't a genius, make sure he doesn't know your name!!!
Worst teacher ever. Very rude and doesn't care about his students. He jumps around a lot and he is often hard to follow. Tests are hard, pay close attention to lectures and study notes.
Lonzarich is really unorganized, and he gives a lot of work. Dont miss class, and study hard for the tests and you'll be fine. If you've never taken any advanced bio, etc you will have a hell of a time in his class.
He's way cool and I would recommend to take him if you like biology a lot. He really cares about his students and gives you every opportunity to learn. By far my favorite professor. SOmetimes he is unclear in his expectations but just ask him a lot of questions he is always there to help.
He's a great guy, really funny. He just cracks me up. I enjoyed his course. Take him for lab, he will get to know you on a personal level. Others may say his exams are hard but if you study and think, you'll do ok. I studied a lot and got a B, mainly because he has tricky questions on the exams, so pay attention to exactly what they are asking for.
Very funny guy! Tests a little bit tricky but overall he's not to bad at knowing when we need help.
Awesome guy, fun class, true that an interest in Biology is a must but I recommend taking a class from him, WAY into fish lol
Great teacher who trails off into some interesting stories
Pretty good guy. His lectures are at least entertaining. Material is kind of rough. Scares the crap out of you the first few days about average test scores. Some people can't stand the course but I found it not too bad.
The tests cover lecture material and only that, so take good notes and use the book as a reference. He's a little crazy but it works. Tests are hard but study and you can usually do pretty well. Also, he has this great system where if your final is better that your other two exams your exam scores are replaced with your final exam grade.
Dr. Lonzarich was confusing. He seemed to rush through the material and most of time I had no idea the point of his lectures, so I had trouble studying for the tests. Also, he never replyed to my emails. However, I guess he is a fair teacher who has a lot of passion for what he does, especially fish.
Very unorganized/confusing lectures. Unclear assignments, and exams are extremely hard. Only 2 exams during semester. Poor grading and never prompt. Finals exam grade, if higher than 2 semester exams, can replace the bad scores. So study very, very much for the final, as it can save you. Is possible to earn an A.
Lonzarich is ridiculously hard, but its worth it! I somehow managed to get an A in this class, but it took a lot of studying and such. I somehow managed to get an A on the final so it replaced my old test scores! That system is fantastic! You will learn a lot in this class so dont be afraid and take it! You will enjoy it a lot!
I love biology, but I HATED Lonzarich. He has no idea how to teach, is basically how to sum it up. He doesn't care much about students and thinks it's funny when people do poor. I pulled a B+, but I'm a 4.0 student, and I don't party or have a job. Good luck to people who have more of a life than just studying...
It was a fun class. His tests are challenging, but you'll learn a lot. He is a cool guy to know. Oh yeah, you better not mind talking about fish all of the time because he uses them for examples. He is very helpful when you ask him, and he also has many TA's who are willing to help.
Dr. Lonzarich is not the best teacher around. His class was very difficult, he is extremely unorganized, and his lectures are all over the place. If you have a choice, don't take him for Biology.
Very hard class. Plan on studying a lot for it because lectures do not give you what you'll need to know for the exam. good luck!
He's a really great guy and pretty crazy...however you really don't want him as a teacher unless you are already amazing at biology. He doesn't cover material that is on the test and even by reading the book you still can't pull an A. His lectures are terrible to follow and his writing is hard to understand.
he is a funny guy. and crazy at times. probably should read the book. if you take good notes you should be ok. there are 3 tests. if you do better on the final exam than the other two tests, your final exam grade replaces your other two grades. there are also 2 papers you have to write in lab.
Lonzarich is a great guy- although kind of nutty sometimes. He really knows his stuff and is really enthusiastic about it (which always helps). He definitely keeps things exciting! Probably my favorite prof here so far.
Most of the kids that complain about dave are kids that are "premed" that soon flunk out of bio classes. The class is a piece of cake compared to other bio-major classes. Come to class everyday, and understand the material, and you'll get >95%. If you think this class is hard, pick a new major.
I had him for lab. I think he was great for that, but not a good lecture teacher.
Lonzarich is a cool prof. He will take time to talk to you after class about homework, a paper, or the lab itself without hesitation. I may not have leared a whole lot in lab from him, but I would love to take another class with him. Very Nice guy. They don't make these bio classes easy yall.. get over it. I'll get a C-B in this class.
CRAZY MAN THAT WILL GET YOU INTERESTED AND INVOLVED
He is a good teacher and his tests are not that hard. Just read through the powerpoints and do the homework and you'll do fine. The lab papers are impossible to get an A on so don't count on it. Class was ok and I would recommend him.
He is a crappy teacher in my opinion, he is very unclear when he teaches and when you ask for help, he just replies that im not going to be here to baby you along, so figure out yourself
Dr. Lozarich is not a very good professor in my opinion. Homework is not fair, and papers a such a joke; I've never had a rubric like his. He's not that personable either. I would not have taken this class with him if I had a choice.
Hard to follow in lectures. Loves fish. Tests are hard. You get zero's on homework if you get less than a 70%. Lab papers almost impossible to get an A.
hard to listen to, not helpful, impossible tests, class 65% average
Dr. Lonzarich is a professor that knows what he's talking about but doesn't make it clear to everyone. Very confusing class, he makes it hard and doesn't really help that much. If you're interested in Biology I would say take him, but if not you won't feel welcome.
Lonzarich is a great professor who cares about his students. Although quirky and unclear at times, he's a complete genius! This class took place in the Bahamas and it was AWESOME! If uever wanna take a class that's fun, exciting and FULL of learning, take BIOL 320! He's the best professor for this class! You won't b sorry! Go to class, take notes!
Not too hard. If you just study your notes you'll do fine. Minimal textbook use.
Awesome teacher, more than willing to help. Tough grader though
This class almost ruined my life. His tests are impossible. No matter how hard I tried I still didn't do well in the class. He is not all that willing to answer questions, even though he says he is. Avoid if at all possible.
His instructions are not clear at all. A lot of work and you have to study very hard in order to get a decent grade.
People take biology thinking it is easy, well its not. He'll help you if you show that you care about the class and your future as a biologist. Do you think he'll waste his time on students that don't care. There are to many that do care and need help to waste his time on ones that don't care until they get a bad grade.See him quick and see him ofte
Lonzarich was awesome. He is really nice and he gets really involved in his labs. He takes us out for coffee and he even paid for me. He is a fish guy so if you like fish at all he will be your best friend. I like how he teaches and strongly recommend him to you.
He is a pretty cool guy. If you want to become a better science writer, take him and become his friend. TOUGH GRADER. Had friends with other lab professors who had lower quality papers and walk out with better grades than me. Obviously passionate about biology.
I only had him for lab, but he was not a good teacher. Was rude and not helpful AT ALL. Frequently left the room, leaving a room full of students with questions. Very tough grader on papers. I would not recommend him at all if you care to learn anything about Biology. And if you take his class, I hope you LOVE fish because thats all he talks about.
Lonzarich should never be allowed to teach this class again. he is hard to understand and on top of that he makes the class so boring. He can not teach and when presented with questions about the material that he is supposed to be presenting to the student body he very rarley knows what he is actually talking about. he tends to be very concided
Very helpful if you have any questions.
I really enjoyed Lonzarich. He is really excited about the material he is teaching and even though he can be unclear, he is more than willing to clarify if you go into his office hours. He expects you to be able to think critically and to keep up with the reading, but if you do that, you shouldn't have too much trouble as long as you put time in.
Lonzarich is a very nice guy and he tries to help you understand the material, but he should not be allowed to teach 211. He knows alot of information but does not do a good job of lecturing. The exams are also difficult becasue he forgets the information he lectures about.
Dr. Lonzarich is a very good fish biologist and can tell you a lot about fishes, but his expertise in any other area is lacking. He wasn't always prepared for his lectures. He is very interested in biology, but is a little confusing as a teacher. Note taking was a little difficult.
Great fish biologist, but he taught concepts more in depth than he tested on. Testing concepts were very broad, and more on the evolutionary side of things than the form and function side. Funny guy, really laid back, great person, just not my favorite lecturing professor.
the guy's a saint!! he's super nice and helps out students. you get on his good side and your set. i thought his lectures were helpful yet dry. sit next to someone you know so you don't doze off too much. tests are challenging but if you study you should be fine. guy loves fish too. meet in his office he loves talking to students.
Awesome professor! He is, by far, the best professor I had this last semester. He's extremely approachable and he likes to joke around with his students as well. Lectures vary- some are boring and some are actually really interesting. Tests are difficult but as long as you study the lectures and study guides you should be able to pull off an A!
Great professor all around. His lectures can be ambiguous at times but overall he gets his points across. He is the only professor that I know that stayed up to 2:00 A.M. on the night before tests answering questions from students. That alone won my respect. He is also a great professor to do undergrad research with.
He is the most boring teacher possible. I passed out all the time. He didn't help at all.
Professor Lonzarich is one of the most helpful professors I have ever met. He organized extra meetings to help review for the difficult exams, and made sure we understood the concepts. He's a nice, intelligent, and entertaining professor that I definitely recommend to those taking Bio110.
Lonzarich is a great lecturer, passionate about the material, and is very willing to help outside of class and answer question. This class is not easy, don't expect him to spoon feed you and change your diaper, you're a goddamn college student. Read the book, know the associated vocab, understand the tables and equations. An A is not impossible.
Lonzarich is a great professor, he may be tough, but that's Biology for you! His tests are all about applying the knowledge you learned in lecture, but don't fret if you get a bad grade on them. Your final exam score replaces the lowest score on your previous exams. Just Be a student and actually STUDY! I highly recommend him for lab and lecture!
If you don't have something nice to say about Lonzarich then SHUT UP! He is the best professor at uwec hands down. Trust me, he genuinely cares about students and will help you succeed, and he's very approachable. Take Lonz ppl!!
Great professor. He's very clear in lecture, and always has lecture slides online beforehand. Extremely willing to help and answer questions. He's clearly passionate about what he does.
Dr. L is GREAT! I took BIO 100 with him (general bio for teachers) and he was super helpful! I was so nervous going into this class because I struggled in biology in high school, but Dr. L understood that we weren't Bio majors! His tests weren't too bad, just had to put in effort and study! Had 3 exams and final. Easy weekly online homework!
Dr. Lonzarich is a great professor! He really wants to see his students succeed! Although I am not doing well in the class, Dr. Lonzarich has done everything in his power to help me. I just don't understand biology. I would highly recommend Dr. Lonzarich to any student needing to take a biology course.
Dr. L was easily my favorite professor this semester. He is very passionate about biology and genuinely wants you to succeed. Homework online is pretty easy, but his exams are difficult, but if you utilize the study guides on D2L you should do fine. Attendance for lecture isn't mandatory, but it is encouraged if you want to do well TAKE DR. L!
Dr. L is my favorite prof at UWEC. He is passionate about Biology which makes the lectures fun & interesting. He understood that we weren't Bio majors, so he didn't bore us with in-depth Bio. He is concerned with every one of his students. I had gotten a bad grade on a previous test, & he pulled me aside and met with me to discuss the test & improve
He is most definitely my favorite teacher this semester. He is very enthusiastic and thorough. I changed my major to biology because of this class. I loved it. Dr. L is a great teacher. If you have the chance, take Dr. L's class!!!!!
Dr. L was is an amazing professor! He is very passionate about biology (& fish) and truly cares about his students. He always offered review sessions and made sure the work load was a fair amount. He understood that we are not bio majors and made my least favorite subject one I actually enjoyed! If you put in the effort, he will too. Take Dr. L!
I liked him as a person. He was very passionate about his job for sure I just felt that the class was a little tough for Bio 100. It definitely didn't seem like a 100 level class... I had to study hard! He is a very nice guy however and if you go to him for answers and help you will receive it.
Professor Lonzarich was a really nice guy, and I liked him as a person, just not as a teacher. His tests are really hard, and this class was a lot of work for being a 100 level class. I am usually the type of person to get A's and B's on tests, but my test average in his course was 70%. You have other assignments to help out your grade.
Dr. Lonzarich is a great guy, very personable but his lectures get a little scattered. His test a very difficult, I consider myself a good student and work hard for my grades, but I received lower scores than I intended to. I would suggest him as a professor, just be prepared to work.
He was very passionate about this class so therefore he expected a lot. There was a lot of readings and homework with these readings. Participation matters and if you participate and do the readings you should do just fine. Tests are really difficult but if you put in the time they are manageable.
His lectures are very entertaining and he makes the information easily understood. You really need to study the lecture notes, labs, and the textbook to do well on the exam because he tests you on concepts as opposed to definitions. If you get the chance, take him! You will learn a lot and it will prepare you for harder classes in the future.
Dr. Lonzarich expects a lot and his tests are very hard. I would study days before the exams and still not do very well. However, he is very accommodating and a nice guy. You don't really use the textbook either, he often assigns videos to watch with worksheets to follow.
Dr. Lonzarich makes class fun. He is a very interesting person and clearly understands that this is a basic biology class. He says "this will be on the test" and takes questions from lectures and from the book. Overall, he made the class worth while.
Dr. Lonzarich is a very intersting professor, he is very passionate about biology and fish and is willing to answer any of your questions. I would take his bio 105 class with caution, because it is very diffcult for a 100 level course. Exams are hard and are lecture based. You can miss a few class all powerpoints are posted online.
He one of my favorite professors! He is very passionate about biology which makes it fun to learn about. The tests aren't difficult if you go to class everyday and take good notes. It also helps to go to the review sessions that he holds. The tests are curved which makes them much easier. I would highly recommend him as a professor.
Dr. Lonzarich seems like a nice dude. Which is great, but that quality does not make for a good teacher. His questions were sometimes very open ended and hard to interpret. Tries to trick you on exams. I attended every lecture, and study session, studied for hours, and still only got a 58-61% on all exams. Good luck bcuz he's the only Bio 105 prof.
Very passionate about biology, but very complicated exams. studied more than expected for this class. also he adds slides that he claims will not be on exams, asks not to take notes, and then they sometimes show up.
He was an alright lecturer but his tests are different than mosts. He tests on application to the terms not just the knowledge of the terms. Very easy to get ahold of and will answer questions. All things that are graded are rated the same, thats the nicest thing!
His lectures are incredibly boring and doesn't provide room for time to think about material. The tests are worded horribly as many responses will seem correct but he will accept only the BEST answer. His responses to choose from make things too confusing. He will often go back and end up accepting more than one answer which is super frustrating.
Dr. Lonzarich really cares about you individually and even gave us his cell phone number to text for help. I liked his personality and how passionate he was about biology but he has really really hard tests. He does give you a 50 point optional part of the final to make up for past tests.
Very passionate, kind, and a gifted teacher. I loved his teaching style and was never bored in his class. However, I found his tests to be the hardest I have ever done. I worked really hard on homework, and test prep, and struggled on every test. My advice would be to do his review sheets then go to all of his review sessions. He's very helpful.
Lonzarich is a cool guy, he really knows his material. He tries to draw animals on the board but they look like boxes. The material of this course is really basic so don't take this difficulty seriously, it would probably be easy no matter who you had. His use of a Pearson online textbook material was somewhat annoying, but it made homework easy
I graduated having many different teachers throughout introductory biology. The catalogs were changing... Dr. Lonzarich is one of the smartest guys on campus for those interested in fish, evolution, ecology, and research. Sometimes he expects a lot from his students but if you show a genuine interest in the material he WILL help you succeed.
I am not a biology major, but I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Lonzarich understood that most of us weren't bio majors and made us only focus on the general idea and didn't get into the finer points of concepts. He really values student input and wants to make sure everyone succeeds if they put in the time and effort.
At the begining of the semester I hated this class. Lonzarich has a lisp and is hard to understand, but once you get used to it and learn how he words test questions he is awesome. He tells a lot of dad jokes and is very passionate about biology. You have a text book but I didn't open it once. He only grades on what he lectures on.
Professor Lonz was great for Bio 105! He cares a lot about his students and makes time to help with course content outside of class. Provides all inclusive review guides and review sessions. Exams are worded differently to bring out biology concepts and are application heavy. Read the textbook!
I loved Dr. Lonzarich as a professor! You could tell he was very passionate about what he was talking about. His tests are a bit difficult but as long as you go to lecture and take good notes you'll be fine.
Dr. Lonzarich is so passionate about biology it is infectious. I came into the class expecting to hate it and ending up loving it. He really wants you to understand and succeed. Although his exams are very hard, he curves them all. Don't expect an easy A from this class, but you if you try, you will do well. I wish I could take his class again.
During lecture Lonzarich is all over the place, he is often very confusing but you can tell he really loves what he teaches. He is a fish biologist- but he'll probably tell you that 60 times on his own. He is very goofy and an awesome guy. Although exams are a little rough, he offers a lot of hw assignments and extra credit to get your grade up!
Tests were multiple choice. Requires a lot of studying.
Dr. Lonzarich is an interesting guy, but if you need help, his door is always open! Tests and homework are all online. He grades nicely on homework, but tests are difficult. He usually curves tests by a few points.
Dr. Lonzarich is definitely passionate about biology and likes to have fun teaching it. 4 Exams over the semester and a few online homework assignments. Exams are not super easy, but paying attention and taking good notes during lecture will help. This semester, he changed the exams to online. He says not to use notes/book, but lets be real.
Honestly hated bio till I took a class with him
One of the nicest professors ever. He really cares about his students even though its a big lecture. His exams are tough but they're online which makes it better.
Dr. Lonzerich is good at heart, but is the hardest tester I know. His lectures are laid back, but his tests are very hard. I studied for a good 5 hours for his exams and still did not pass. I asked him for help and he blew me off and told me not to go out and party. He was never willing to help me just because I wasn't getting a F in his class.
Posts audio to lectures so you can catch up if you miss a lecture. The exams are hard but if you show up for daily participation and do the hw its fine. Hes super chill and cares about students and is more than willing to work with you if there is an issue.
Had Lonzarich for Ecology. He used a computer app called Simutext which was a great interactive learning tool. Tests were take home and very heavy, but they were great for learning. He allowed group work on tests, even the final. Passionate and focuses on fish/fresh water.
David deserves, and I cannot stress this enough, a much higher rating than this. All of the exams are taken online, outside of class, and you have a 24-hour window to do them. The class itself wasn't difficult, I think I passed with a B, and I didn't study much. David cares about his students a lot and drops good life advice. G.O.A.T. Respected.
The professor was laid back and cares about students but his exams are very hard and he doesn't finish the whole lecture during class so it's difficult to finish the homework. I did all the homework and studied for exams and still did bad.
The class is pretty easy to begin with, but he offers study sessions before exams to help students know what to expect on the exam. If you take notes and do the homework assignments (which are straight out of the lecture slides) you should be fine. Attending his homework sessions will give you more insight on the exam (which are all online).
He is a really great dude, who loves fish and biology. Sometimes he can talk about nonsense for a while until he gets back on track. His tests are all online (thank god) because they are so hard. Take notes from the book, and go to lecture, print off the study guide and homework questions before taking the test. Big lecture hall.
I do not recommend this professor. His tests are very hard for a 100 level class and it is way more work than what this biology class this should be. Although the tests are online he makes them very hard.
Dr. L is a great man! He is funny and caring. Their are four exams in the class with weekly homework assignments. The exams are online but you still NEED to study and prepare for them. He usually offers review sessions to prepare for the exam and also provides a study great. Exams can be challenging, but ask him any questions! Would recommend!!
He was always very unorganized. There were multiple assignments that I had done on time but received a zero. When asked, he said that it was a mistake and he would fix it. He never did, no matter how many email reminders. If you like chaos, then by all means, take one of his classes. If you like structure and order, he is not for you.
Tests are all online but don't be fooled. Most of the questions are "ungoogleable." Usually the average test score is around 77%. Take good notes in class and you won't need to read the book. He is a good guy but a little weird.
He's a very caring professor who is passionate about teaching the material but his exams are harder than you think. Exams are online and you're given about two hours to finish them, but don't take it for granted! Use up all the time to double check your answers. Final exam is optional if you want a better grade on another exam you bombed.
Took bio 105 as an English major. Exams are online and homework is completion graded. Take decent notes and attend all the lectures and youll get an A. A bit boring but he always ended lecture 15 minutes early.
David is fun and passionate but I would not recommend taking his class. Due to COVID-19 it was switched to online. I do not think he handled the transition well especially since he knew it would be at least hybrid for the semester. Test questions are really poorly written and very hard to figure out what he is asking. Very ambiguous. Cool guy tho
He'a good person, but he will lecture on stuff that isn't needed for tests. The test questions are poorly worded and very ambiguous. He focused on making the class semi interesting versus giving us factual information. He's a great person but due to Coivd-19 the class was switch to online and he didn't handle it as well as other professors.
His exams are hard and tricky. Many of the questions are way advanced on the topics and this is the lowest biology level class yet it does not feel like based on his exam questions. He is a nice guy, but hard to follow at times during lectures. The average on the exams were Ds. He curves them which is nice. I was still able to get a good grade tho
This is the most understanding, smart, but easy professor I've had. Gives you full credit for most things if you try, very difficult exams, but gives multiple tries on the homework. He also makes his own online textbook/notes so no textbook needed which is nice. COVID may have made my experience different than in person but I liked his class.
I honestly hated this class. For a 100 level class, it was unnecessarily hard. Dr. Lonzarich wrote his own book via TopHat that was easy to use but really didn't help on the exams. The exams were full of questions that test your knowledge and are not googleable. I suggest trying to find a different BIO professor.
Professor Lonazarich is a great, caring guy. However, his tests are extremely difficult (Which he is very upfront about) His questions are worded very difficultly, and it's extremely difficult to have consistent test scores. He has an optional final that replaces a test score, which was huge for me. Great guy, hard class, but definitely manageable.
Dr. Lonzarich is a great guy. He is accessible if you have any questions and really cares about his students' success. However, the exams are very difficult, which he did warn at the beginning. Participating in lectures and reading his book are very helpful, and the exams are open note, but you definitely need to know the material.
Exams are almost impossible, and the class averages are around 60%.
Material was interesting, just a lot of it each week. Weekly quizzes online to make sure students are keeping up with material.
Listen... Tests are HARD! He uses his own textbook and he's clearly passionate about bio, but the tests and homework questions are phrased to intentionally trip you up. I personally wouldn't take his class again, but if you're up for a challenge the go for it.
Lonzis tests are hard. But not if you cheat and take them with other people. Homework is straightforward. Skip class and you can still pass. His beliefs are odd. Id like to see more evidence for evolution other than a weird chart linking a whale to a cat. Lonzi tears up during class when reminiscing. Oh Lonzi best wishes honey!
Very hard class, especially tests, he designs them purposely so you fail and even tells you so. Class average on an exam was 65% and he was impressed. lectures are pointless since he just tells stories, but you can tell he is passionate about bio. He wrote his own textbook that you will have to pay for. Wouldn't recommend because of tough exams.
For starters, he has his own book for his own class. I don't think this should be allowed. His tests are very challenging but if you use the review sheet he uses, some of the answers are on there. I went to every lecture and took maybe one thing from the entire class. Great personality, but unfortunately can't teach to save his life.
Dr. Lonzarich is a great guy, but I wouldn't recommend his course. If you know a lot about bio then his class is for you. He is very passionate about biology which tends to make his lectures hard to follow. The quiz and test questions can be misleading with weird wording. He writes his own textbook as well.
You can tell he's passionate about what he teaches, but most of the info seems irrelevant. The tests are online and most of the answers are old homework questions, so they're not too hard. You have to spend $60 on a textbook he wrote himself, which is kind of annoying. Not a bad class, but I didn't retain much of the material.
This class was pretty tough and relied a lot on critical thinking rather than studying. However, the materials did a good job of preparing us for this. Dr. Lonzarich has super entertaining lectures and is very knowledgable about his field. However, this shines through in his test questions that are not entirely suitable for an intro to bio course
He is passionate about his field, but lectures can be hard to follow sometimes. eBird paper is stupid. Exams are difficult even when studied. The Hunt Hill field trip is what boosted my grade so much
He truly cares about what he does. Sometimes he goes off topic in lecture, but usually it is still somewhat biology related. I can tell he is very passionate about his job and wants his students to succeed. Tests are online and you get 2 chances to take them. Weekly homework assignments are pretty easy too. Overall, good prof and class. Easy A.
Very passionate. His lectures were entertaining, but semi disorganized. I found it more beneficial to skip class and read the online textbook while taking notes. The hw quizzes were difficult, but you were allowed a second attempt. Same with the exams. Very hard, but you get another attempt and it's open book.
Awesome teacher. He is good with explaining his lectures, usually lets you out of class early, and he is always in a good mood to teach.
Professor Lonzarich is an amazing instructor, and I would take another class just for his personality! He is very passionate about what he teaches and he gives very good vibes overall. His lectures can be hard to follow sometimes, but he usually repeats what he says and often explicitly tells the class "write this down" to help us for the exams.
Heres the things with this professor, he is passionate about his work... But he isn't a good teacher. His lectures all are over the place. They have nothing to do with the weekly homework assignments, therefore you're screwed when you get to them, as well as the test. He is a super nice guy, but i feel he just doesn't teach us anything.
Online exams but they are extremely difficult if you do not attend class. good lectures however and very easy to listen to.
This professor is extremely passionate about his work and you'll learn awe-inspiring things here. He's very kind, caring and compassionate. Wonderful opportunities, lots of extra credit & ways to succeed. However, he is very disorganized and his exams are extremely tough, sometimes because they include content not learned yet.
David is an overall amazing person. He is so funny in lectures and he is very understanding. His textbook is free online in canvas. He gives you two tries on tests and quizzes and bonus points can be added to tests depending on your score. As long as you go to class and take notes you will be fine.
Lots of pop quizzes on the reading, but they were graded on participation. He is an understanding and passionate guy. He lacks the structure of traditional courses, but as long as you go to class and take notes you will do well.
