Not a good professor. When I took this course he themed it on rhetorical analysis, which was very boring. He gives in-class writing assignments but never shuts up. Also, he does not explain things well. If you ask him to clarify what he has just explained, he will just repeat what you asked him to clarify.
He is nice and kind, able to help you with an essay. His method of teaching how to write essays is clear and helpful.
He is the best instructor I have ever had. he is smart, and he knows that teaching is a big responsibility not just a job start at 7 A.M and end at 5 P.M. He teaching from his heart, and his goal that his student reach the levle and not just learn. He don't frustrate his students, and he is always appreciating and respecting them.
He was a good teacher, just strict and serious. Which is good, because he really wants you to learn and pushes you to learn. If you're looking for an easy english class that is effortless, don't take him. He is a great teacher though.
he is really helpful and i learned a lot from him.
He is the best teacher I have ever had, he is willing to help if needed. I enjoyed his class alot.
He is nice and kind. He is the best teacher ever and especially his teaching method is very good.
David was the greatest English teacher I have ever had so far in my life. He's willing to do everything to make you a better writer further in life. I really enjoyed his class a lot. I usually skipped class a lot but believe it or not this teacher had me there every single there at his class! If you want to learn take his class! :)
Believe in me, I guarantee that you will become a better writer because his teaching method is excelent. You might feel that he is a hard grader at first, but he just wants you to try harder; as a result, you will be better writer. Fluently speaking, when you get on higher level you will be thankful that you were able to be in his class
David Kopp is awesome teacher,he gives very clear instruction, as he is so helpful. VERY little homework, most of the work is done in class. He makes the class very fun and interesting, I'm diffidently taking another class with him because my writing improved so much after this class!
he's really nice and funny. he explains everything well, his teaching style is unique and helpful. he's AWESOME!!
Awesome teacher, and awesome class... And an incredibly AWESOME beard. I took his english 101 class on campus, and took expository writing with him online... Both times he was incredible clear, gives personalized feedback, and grades work in an attempt to honestly help his students improve.
It was an amazing class. It was not easy to study. The instructor was very helpful, clear and well organized. Apart from essays we were given seven reading assignments. Reading assignments were hard and interesting at the same time. The atmosphere in the class was warm. This teacher is the best. I would prefer to take a class with David Kopp again.
He is the greatest English teacher so far in my life. Although there were a branch of home works, everything is to prepare students to be a good writer. I do really enjoy his class and appreciate his enthusiasm about teaching and a wholehearted support to every student. Taking his class on campus made me feel warm, being encouraged, and supported.
David is the best teacher at Bellevue College. I learned a lot and enjoed his class. I would take an other class with David.
I didn't want to take this class AT ALL because it was Latino American Literature, I thought I would be miserable and probably do really bad, but Mr. Kopp is a REALLY good teacher, he actually makes you care about the class, it was only twice a week so attendance is important but if you couldn't make it, he helped you recover. TAKE HIS CLASS!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! BEST ENGLISH TEACHER IN BC! VERY CLEAR, VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT TEACHING AND ENGLISH, AND VERY HELPFUL.
I am so glad I took this professor. He was great, friendly, responsive, got back to me right away. His class was a good pace, he never overwhelmed. The materisal was interesting. I recommend taking this professor.
He is very nice and helpful. Do all your work and you will get at lease A-.
David is my favorite professor at BC. He's is really clear about his teaching, and always make sure you are on the right track.TAKE HIS CLASS!You won't regret it!
David is an extremely outgoing professor. He tries to make his class fun, but may go overboard a little. There is a LOT of reading required, however, it is a literature class so that should be expected. His grading is very easy. As long as you follow his few simple guidelines you will receive an A in the class. There's one 2 page essay every week.
I HATE english classes. That being said, David Kopp was an amazing teacher. The reading was interesting, the assignments were thorough but not hard. Best part was, absolutely no papers to write. Just respond to the reading and a couple classmates posts. Easiest english class ever.
He is a great teacher! I had him for English 101. And let me tell you, as my first college class ever I did not expect this great of a time. He is soo funny his lectures arnt even lectures its more like story time! Seriously like choose him because he is such a great teacher, I wish he could teach me everything I need to learn. Dont second think...
David is a fantastic teacher in BC, he gives us feed back very often. take his class u won't be regretted.
Took his hybrid class. There's a 750 words discussion due each Thursday night and a response to 3 classmates' discussion due on Sundays. The class time is used to learn some writing concepts. Usually we'd watch videos or share stories. He's an easy grader. If you to all discussions you're very likely to an A. He also offers an extra credit.
David Lopez-Kopp is an absolutely outstanding professor at Bellevue College. His structure for the class is clear, with many interactive discussions critical thinking which keeps the class interesting and everyone engaged. His expectations for papers are clearly stated with peer reviews along the way. This course will prepare you for future courses
Really great professor. He's very understanding and a great lecturer. No tests or quizzes in the class that i took, but quite a bit of reading. The class was fun and i never found myself becoming bored. He opens up on how discussion provides insight into the many different genres and how said insight helps you in life.
Mr. Lopez was great a real good professor who gets it.. He will make you work and get you brain going so be ready. I like him a lot, loved to come to his class funny guy. take it you wont be disappointed.
He is very helpfully and uses very good examples when explaining each lecture. Best English teacher I have ever had!
Listen to me. This professor is outstanding, he cares for his students, he wants you to thrive in all aspects, he gives great feedback on papers, he understands each individual, and he is pretty darn funny. If you put in the effort you WILL get a good grade. Trust me. I have had him for two quarters now and I totally would take him again!
Great English teacher, I took it on summer quarter online, you have several quiz and need to read the book, not too hard. Discussion is very important to get points. He don't too much of grammer, great teacher and highly recommoned
This is probably my favorite class I have ever taken in my entire life. He doesn't make you write, he makes you think(but also write). He has the ability to teach without having to ACTUALLY teach. His stories are lessons in themselves. Very clear, great teacher. Knows exactly what he was talking about, and very inspirational. Easy class if you work
Great teacher, he uses many different techniques to engage his students and make his lectures relatable and interesting. We do have a paper due a week. It is an english class. No midterm. I highly recommend him!
Since Winter qt is coming up and some of you are looking for feedback, so here is my review on David Kopp. He is an awesome English teacher that cares for his students, understandable, and gives feedback on assignments. If you ever need help, you can ask one on one. I totally recommend his class for English 092/101. By the way he is not boring.
He is the most friendly lecturer I have ever met.
a lot of reading and essays almost every week
David is a great professor who is very engaging with the class. He's also very willing to help you if you need extra time outside of class or just advice in general. Overall, a very caring professor. His class is fun, but attendance and participation is a big deal. Also, make sure you read the textbook.
Took Soc101, and as a fairly socially anxious person, he made the class bearable. Very informed of what is going on and will get to know you on a personal basis. I completely recommend if you need to make a friend with a teacher.
He was a good teacher. I took his hybrid class and it was a solid amount of work. Lots of textbook use. Class wasn't boring. Kind of strict grader, but if you try you'll be fine.
David is a great English teacher! We spent the entire quarter working on 4 specific essays. The essays were very interesting and I grew a lot in his class. David is very flexible and if you can't make it to class for some reason he is very considerate. Very talkative and fun to listen too. Always available for office hours.
Do the homework and you will pass. By far the easiest english class i have ever taken. He is part of the very few professors that genuinely care about his students and how they preform in his class. He gives you amazing feedback and graded everything quickly.
David is an amazing professor who engages with his students. he is hilarious and incredibly nice. there are 6 quizzes which are very easy, he gives you the opportunity to have a notecard for the quiz which is very helpful. there is one big group presentation, an informal paper evolution at the end and there is no final for the class.
David is an amazing professor. He genuinely cares about his students, and thoroughly works his best to help out each and every one of them. The best thing I liked about him was that he actually took the time and liberty to meet with students outside of class. His lectures are great too.
I've never had a professor as accessible and supportive as David. Truly makes his students a priority and Bellevue College is very lucky to have him. Always open for office hours and gives great feedback. Enjoyed the format of his online class. Series of interesting discussions, a few quizzes and an 8-10 page final research paper. Highly Recommend!
David is a great professor! Really participation and workshops carry the most points. His grading criteria is very clear, and he is very understanding and an easy grader. Out of the whole course I would say that the quizzes were the most difficult, but even those were very straightforward and easy to complete!
Mr. Kopp is an excellent teacher: funny, to the point, and he makes an effort to know his students on a personal level by learning all of their first names. He is easily accessible outside of class and will support you during this class. As long as you do the reading and writing assignments (which takes time), your grade will be fine.
I entered this class hoping to enhance my writing skills and finish a prerequisite. However, after starting the class there was a clear lack of instruction. With only a few graded assignments, poor instruction caused issues. Also, David refused to clarify instructions and had limited office hours. Consider taking him in person before online.
He is a great professor, friendly, helpful, caring and you can see him in his office for any questions or chat class. I will take his other class ( 101 &201). His classes get full fast.
Tough grader Vague grading criteria Lack of communication with students (barely responds)
I like this class because the instructor helped me a lot to improve my English by using interesting way for writing essay. I got the most benefit because I have learned how to write essay with enjoying.
Love this professor! Very good feedback can be gotten from him! Very good! Will take his class again!
I took his online class and got an A- but it was a little tough to keep it at an A. He is a tough grader and there are quite a few assignments. He does let you write about personal subjects for the last essay.
His class was really fun to be in and as long as you pay attention in class and don't procrastinate on your assignments you'll do fine. P.S. ask him about his Instagram.
Mr. Lopez-Kopp is an amazing teacher! If you are looking for a great English 101 teacher definitely go with David. He cares for all his students and wants them to all succeed. He has office hours basically all day so meeting with him is never an issue. He is hilarious and you can tell he loves his job because of fun and cool lessons he teaches. :)
I took the class this quarter and it consisted of several thought-provoking discussions, along with a few quizzes and a 2000+ words research paper. He is very helpful and always accessible during office hours! The quizzes are not challenging if you read the materials. It takes time to complete the paper, so start it asap! Absolutely recommended!
David is a great teacher. very inspiring person.
Getting back into school after being out for 5 years, David made it very easy and fun to be apart of this class!
He is the best professor I've ever had! His class is very organized and you can easily know what to do. You dont have to worry about being able to reach him. He is there to help you and definitely willing to help you during office hours even though it is an online class. Definitely, recommend to take it :)
Make sure to use office hours when writing your essay. If it is a daily class he doesn't use canvas so you don't know your grade until the end of the quarter. But the class is full of great content and he helps you improve your critical writing skills.
David is a great professor for English. There wasnt a lot of hw for the class, just reading the book and answering questions but he gave us a good amount of time to finish it. There was 3 essays you had to write but they were easy subjects and let us make corrections in class before turning it in. Would highly recommend taking him
He is awesome! Took online Research Paper. Moves fast during summer quarter. He give lots of updates and emails. A lot of discussions then one big paper at end. Also gives examples of major assignments.
I took David's class during a summer quarter once; He was mostly non-responsive and therefore, didn't give out any feedback for our papers. If you want to improve your writing, this online class isn't for you. The class consists of several seminars, quizzes based on the (helpful) book, a research paper proposal and a research paper. Good luck.
for ENG 201 online research paper. Quizzes, discussions, proposal, then one big paper at end. Online but can email for help, talk on the phone to and also meet in office. Very helpful and gave examples of each assignment.
Really enjoy this professor, has very flexible office hours and more focused on how you progress through his class rather than specific grading. However, does not use Canvas which makes remembering homework assignments hard and for essays as well. I overall really like this professor he cares about his students and is flexible for deadlines.
David Lopez-Kopp is by far one of the best professors I have had. He works with you to make sure that you understand the concept of what you're learning and genuinely cares about his students. I highly recommend him!
David Lopez-Kopp is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Great stories and such a funny guy.
David Lopez-Kopp is an incredible teacher. From day one, he was sure to make each class not only informative, interactive, and interesting, but also very enjoyable. He was motivating, inspiring, creative, and extremely helpful during the whole quarter. In fact, he took the fear out of writing a research paper. I highly recommend this class!
I highly recommend this teacher!
I highly recommend David! I enjoyed coming to his class, very interactive and engaging. There were 4 main assignments that include group presentation. He is very approachable and always there to help his students. I managed to succeed by visiting his office hours multiple times for the research paper, and he gives me good advice and encouragement!
I took both David's 101 and 201 english classes and he made it a very enjoyable and manageable experience. In 201, there were only 2 main projects and he broke them up into smaller pieces and gave you plenty of time to complete them. My only critique is that he does not give a ton of feedback on assignments so you would have to email him.
David really pushes you to better your writing every day. I grew a lot as a writer in his class. He made classes fun and enjoyable which motivated me to go to every class. He's really understanding, and he will help you when you need. Go to his office hours because sometimes he can be late to respond to your email. Overall, I highly recommend him.
David was one of the best professors I have had the opportunity to learn from. Assignments are appropriately challenging and he doesnt make the workload too heavy. I consider myself to be a better writer after taking his course. Take advantage of his office hours, he is passionate about pouring into his students to ensure their success. Recommend!
David was an amazing professor. He cares a lot about his students and really wants to see them succeed.
Mr. Lopez-Kopp kept it fun and fresh. It was very easy to follow and if you come to class and participate your more then likely to succeed at a high degree. David gives great feedback when it comes to writing your papers. His teaching methods are refreshing. He very much so cares about his students and their success.
I took both of Mr. Lopez-Kopps classes and both times he didnt disappoint in making learning interesting. This class has small amount of assignment but worth a lot. If you attended the class and participate your likely to succeed. Writing lab days will make a big difference, and David is always encouraging office hours!! Go to office hours!!
Really easy. One homework assignment a week. Just follow instructions. Halfway through the quarter, barely giving any effort, and I have a 97. Nice guy.
I took the hybrid class of his in the fall quarter and it was a nice easy class to start out my morning. It was at 7:30 so pretty early but not hard to follow. He was happy to help ideas along for the weekly paper due on Fridays. No final in this class, no books to write reports on. He grades generally easy if your effort shows through the paper.
As an online course, there is about one assignment per week taking at most three hours. The course is very straightforward, professor is accessible, and the assignments are easy. He gives you 100% if you do everything on the rubric correctly. Overall, an easy A and the research paper that you have a month to finish is only 2000 words. Solid Prof.
David is a good teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He gives good feedback and will help you get an A. In English 101, we wrote 3 different kinds of essays. Going to class every day will help you develop these essays. I highly recommend this teacher.
Hes a great teacher. Kept class interesting and made all the content easy to understand. Hes very nice and outgoing although in class theres a lot of group and class discussions.
Easy workload: doublespaced 3-4 pg. essay a week, 1 month to wright 8-10 pg. research paper. Heads up, topics for entire course must be in relation to identity e.g. sexual orientation or race/racism. David was not good at responding to emails, which is essential in an online class. Just be prepared to not get your Qs answered until late.
Online Research Paper class. You can choose your research focus, but it has to do with something about identity. This can be anything like gender, environmental issues, race, disability, Corona Virus, language... Also, you can do Zoom calls with him and that was really helpful.
Great in every way. I really like Professor Kopp. You can tell he really cares about his students, so learning is very smooth. Professor Kopp grades essays with plenty of feedback for students to improve. Not to mention that he's absolutely hilarious everyday in class. I would recommend, recommend, and recommend again.
Online research essay class. First month is a lot of class seminar discussion and reaction papers then last month is research project . You can decide focus and topic. Talk to him on Zoom!
Currently taking this class, about 2-3 assignments every week in addition to 1 to 3 peer responses, all discussions are usually open-ended and opinionated with a few questions to answer here and there. Topics are interesting and relatable in connecting with current events or topics within our world. Totally recommend David Kopp, great professor.
Prof Kopp is awesome. took online during covid. Modules were set up great. class consists of 3 "seminars" and one final paper. entire course is based around various social justice topics (identity, race, gender, etc). Since your essays are submitted through a discussion post, i recommend emailing a word doc of your response to him for feedback.
Professor Lopez-Kopp is such a caring professor and gives easy A's in his Eng. 101 course. That being said, I would have appreciated more direction, feedback, and accessibility. He doesn't respond to emails. No rubric for essays with two usually due each week. This is great if you are just filling a req. but not an ideal course for writing growth.
Was suppose to take class at college but moved to only online. Two writing assignments every week with interesting topics. Did Zoom chat with him twice and they were very helpful. Busy but interesting and never wrote as many essays.
There's half a dozen or so seminar essays then the research project. Research essay is suppose to 10-12 pages and you can pick your focus. I recommend scheduling a phone call or Zoom meeting. Was helpful and he is fun to talk to. Wish could take in classroom.
Online research essay class. Theres an essay due every week with online discussion. No textbook and all the readings and videos are on canvas. You also get to choose your research focus for the final project and he'll meet with you for video chat to talk about it. Smooth class and he was great instructor.
every week you have reading responses and reactions to other readings or videos. He is helpful when you meet on Zoom or phone.
Fully online research writing class. Weekly essays then a big research project and essay at the end. You can pick your focus and he answers all your questions on Zoom or phone.
He is the best professor!
He was an awesome professor, he also gave minimal homework, but the homework was able to enlarge my knowledge of any material that was taught in the class. He was a 100 percent a great teacher.
David was really clear and very helpful. He made sure everyone succeeded and treated everyone the same. He is an easy grader and if you just do all the assignments you are almost guaranteed an A. There is a lot of writing, 2 assignments a week. One with around 500-750 words with 1 250-word reply. The other is 750-1000 words and 3, 250-word replies.
I took his class, but the course had switched instructors several times before landing on David Lopez-Kopp. In-person classes were very interesting. Pretty flexible when it came to completing the assignments. In my personal case, I had fell behind on writings, and it was easy to get caught up, as I reached out, and it was easy to get everything in.
There was only about 9 assnmt in this course, making it really important you complete each one meticulously to receive a good grade. Feedback was few and far between. If you're lucky enough to get feedback, it's nearly a month after the assignment was due. Hard grader at first then seemed to phone it in and give A for any submission. Didn't learn
David Lopez-Kopp is a great, engaging teacher. He did claim that we would learn about critical thinking then spend a lot of the quarter making us write about it without teaching us about it. There's a lot of writing (over 300 words a day, from two essays and replies each week), but he gives pretty good feedback and has great office hour support.
Professor David is amazing for online research writing course. First month and half you have weekly essays then a big project which is a research propose and final essay. You have a month for the final essay. No live classes but you can meet with him on Zoom which is helpful.
More than half your grade is research project at the end of semester. You get to choose your focus and meet with him often to talk about research and project focus. It was very different from his english 101 but he was still really excellent to talk to and learn from.
Classes are optional but are beneficial to your assignments, usually 2 assignments a week with replies to classmates, basically graded by completion, very chill and understanding, didn't feel stressed even if I fell behind, overall my favorite english class I've taken
This was hybrid English 201 research class. All assignments are online and you meet with him often for one to one conferences all quarter. Weekly question and answer group discussions but attendance is optional for those.
In the class now. It only meets twice a week and one of the classes in a writing lab day. Lectures and class activities the other days are great and he keeps you entertained with fun group work and videos.
David is a great English tutor. Answer questions patiently. Although there is a lot of homework, it's easy to get an excellent grade if you complete all your assignments on time.
Took Professor David's english 201 online class which is research paper. There are no live classes but you can meet with him to talk about assignments and final project during the semester. This is helpful at the end for the final project and essay.
Pretty easy if you do all of work which is alot. You can also redo past essays for a new grade after meeting with him. Inperson classes are really fun and only 2 times a week.
David, if you see this, I love you. You're the best.
Fun writing prompts that really get you thinking about issues in our society. 1000 words per week, but it wasn't hard to do at all. Pass/fail grading for the final. I could easily get good grades in this class and other classes while taking this course.
In his class, it's really easy to get A and there are a proper amount of assignments every week, but he had only given the feedback one time, even he did not give the feedback for the final paper. I can't understand his grading criteria.
Was pretty lost on a few assignments but Professor David is very helpful on Zoom, this was online class. Final project is big grade wise but you have a lot of time to do it. Professor David is very support and flexible.
I enjoyed his classes, the way he talks was engaging. You'll have to talk to people around you but it's not bad. The class is all writing based off of a prompt and it is one 1.5-2 page response and a 1000+ word response per week. There is time in class to work on the 1000 word response and you are able to do corrections if needed.
He is very good professor. There were slightly monotonous assignments in class, but it all had relevant topics.I was surprised that on the first day of class he remembered all students by name. At the end of quarter, he gave the opportunity to finish unfinished tasks in order to get a higher grade. Great professor,I recommend him to everyone!
He's very nice, expectations are clear and easy to follow. He doesn't provide tons of feedback unless you ask, but when you do he is very open to phone calls and emails since it's an online class. Assignments are simple and the topics are thought provoking, overall it was an interesting class and fairly easy if you participate and put in the work.
This was online class for English 201 Research paper. Professor David is very helpful and easy to connect to. This class has writing assignment every single week then big paper at end which you get to decide topic. one to one meeting with David is very helpful to fix writing.
A lot of work but pretty easy if you do everything and you can submit revisions for new grades. I wish it was in person class though.
I took Professor David for 101 and now 201. The 201 was online but I had him in 101 in person. It was different in online. He his helpful and will support you in many ways. The best is to meet with him on Zoom. The Research Paper was not as busy with assignments like 101 but the research project is very long and the longest essay ever.
While professor Kopp is kind, he is a harsh grader, for the first few weeks of class no one had gotten an 100% on assignments. This class includes a lot of writing, each assignment had a minimum of around 700 words, and also 250 word responses to at least 2 peers. This class was very political which was unexpected and made it a bit awkward.
This class has weekly essay for the first part of the course then everything turns to a research project which is almost the whole quarter. Your kindof on your own but David enourages you to meet with him over Zoom which is was very helpful. I do wish this class was in person though.
David was very helpful in summer quarter English 101. There is alot of writing and two assignments every week along with peer student discussion. You can also redo assignments at the end of the class for a higher grade after meeting with him. He is very exciting.
This class is almost over and the last few weeks are pretty easy going. Once you finish your last assignments the end of the class are revising previous essays for new grades so you can make your final grade better. David is very friendly and wants you to do well.
an essay due every wednesday (500w) and friday (750w) + 4 peer replies (250w). honestly pretty easy work if you stay on top of it. took this class for running start, he was extremely helpful with college essays and what i could improve upon. a little quirky at times
He is just wonderful, you get rewarded for trying your best. His assignments were great, thought provoking and very open-ended. The class was very put together, you could email him and he would respond quickly. You get the sense that he really cares about you doing well, not just in his class but all over. 10/10 best English class I've taken yet.
David made the layout of the class very clear. In addition, he gave very good feedback on assignments turned in. There are two assignments weekly and no final as he believes writing is a continuous process. Simply revisions at the end of the quarter to improve upon your grade. I loved having David as he was really understanding about everything
Professor David is engaging and makes the writing-focused class enjoyable. Assignments are frequent but manageable, and you can redo work to improve grades. unstuck study's tools are great for study prep. Recommend for an easy A if you stay on top of things.
David Lopez-Kopp offers engaging and thought-provoking assignments to his students. The workload is manageable if you pace yourself. Each week, he assigns a Critical Reaction assignment (750+ words) and a Reading Response (500). We only had one essay. This class's structure was different from anything I've had, but I enjoyed it.
Professor David made my first class here at Bellevue College very easy. 2 assignments each week 500 and 750 words, due on Wednesdays and Fridays. He is the most caring professor I've met here and made me feel very welcome in his class. I highly recommend that anyone take his class.
Professor David has truly inspired me. His passion while teaching is moving. I was able to extract so much knowledge from his class, and it changed my relationship with writing completely. I have a deeper admiration for it, his passion and perspectives played a big role in my journey. Thank you professor David. Your impact changes lives.
AMAZING. His class was so fun and he was really engaging which made the class enjoyable. Has some group work but mostly papers and watching videos. Please take him if you can, he is really great.
Haven't finished the quarter yet but if you're a running start student or any at the matter take this class. Attendance and due dates are lenient. Assignments are easy too grasp and at the same time you learn a lot. He likes to talk about food.
He likes to talk about food. Due dates and attendance requirements are lenient. Class is easy yet effective. Still haven't finished the quarter but I have a good feeling that I can get in B+ to A range.
He is such a great professor, I would definitely take him again! We had 2 discussion posts each week (500 and 750 words), due on Wednesdays and Fridays. For the 500 word post you needed to reply to one other student, and for the 750 words you had to reply to 3 students (~100 words). He's super understanding and easy to get in contact with.
