If you're a science major or even science minded you'll do fine. If you just need the Biology credit, take someone else. He covers quite a bit more than most classes. Plan on studying an hour a day outside of class. (Unless you're a super genius)
Material is challenging. Encourages students to seek help outside of class. Lectures are sometimes hard to follow.
Talks too much. Needs to give more points for discussion and homework.
Drop rate in this class was very high. I tried to get out but everyone else was full. A nice guy but teaching might not be his forte.
Passionate and exciting! The class is challenging but isn't that what college is about?
Prosseor Loring is very passionate about what he does. The lectures are very involved and he always willing to help when needed
very nice man - very helpful if have any questions and if you follow the study guide - tests aren't half bad!!
At the time I thought that the class was impossible but now that I have seen some other science classes he was a very good teacher
Very hard teacher. Would not recommend if you don't enjoy science. He is very interested in Biology but it is very hard the way he puts it!
Nice guy but difficult class. Basically, you know the material or you don't. Tests are 99% of the points, no homework but long study guides that he does over. He is willing to answer questions and help you out, but wouldnt recommend this class if you have difficulties in science/bio
Everything everyone else says here is true.
tests are super hard, not very clear, has tests over 3-4 chapters at time, expects you to recognize pictures of wierd things that all look same, wouldnt recommend him for this class unless you are interested in biology, nice guy though-definetely has a passion for science
this teacher is very hard to understand. I love science and find it interesting, but this guy was so boring i was falling asleep during class. find another teacher for biology
Very easy to understand, covers all topics thoroughly. Extremely helpful! One of the best professors I have taken from.
This guy rocked! He was more then willing to work with the students who needed help and he made the class passable. I got a C and given that Science was mega-hard for me in high school - I was thrilled. If you have a hard time in science (biology) take this guy. Yes you will have to work though.
He really knows his stuff. He is a good teacher. Gives a detailed study guide. Lets you do papers for extra credit. Of all the Biology Profs, take him you will learn something!
he moves very fast-not thorough
his lab was very easy! quizzes and 3 tests, no final... very hands on...last test was very easy..
The lab class was really easy. He talks to the class like he is talking to elementary students but if you can stand that the class is easy.
It seems that if an individual gets a masters in a specific field, then they are allowed to teach that subject. Loring fit this catagory. He knew the material well, but didn't have a clue how to teach it. I learned very little because he talked about stem cells (his passion) all day, every class period. I had to teach myself in order to pass.
explained material well and usually reviewed daily. very enthusiastic and was very approachable. tests were average and comprehensive final was like the other tests.
SO boring-------- he's too thourough. He explains how to pick up a microscope for 15 minutes and even admits he's anal.
This is a very boring class. I would not reccomned taking his class because he does not cover the material very well. He will talk about a few things out of each chapter and expects you to know the rest. So pretty much you have to teach yourself everything he does not go over.
VERY CONFUSING! He knew his stuff, but explained it like he was tlaking to peers and not students.
Knew his stuff very well but doesn't know how to explain it to you so you can learn. I had trouble b/c he moves very quickly and expects you to know too much. He didn't make it fun or interesting. I dreaded going to this class.
He is a tough one.

He explains everything very well, if you can stay awake. His tests are challenging but not impossible. Attendance is extra credit, so you never have to show up if you don't want to. Its not a terrible class, but its not the most engaging either.
Based on most of the responses, looks like people that didn't like this class weren't prepared for lecture by reading ahead (as he suggests). He is very organized and thorough, and there is a ton of material to get through. VERY NICE and helpful with any questions, so quit the whining and get to work--you will learn a lot and be successful too.
He is the worst teacher I have even had. He opens every class with telling the students they should be happy with the 'C' they are all going to recieve from him. He's an **** too.
He is a very smart man but has no clue how to teach it. And for whoever is sayin quit whining you are probably one of the people who it just comes to you natural. You have to work extra hard for this class just to get a C. Good luck.
He's not as bad as everyone's making him out to be. You have to take notes, study, and listen, but that's given with a biology class. He's always there to help students out. Tests are sort of difficult, and you need to buy the book.
He is a pretty difficult teacher. He does seem to care about the subject but doesn't explain things very well. Yes, I did read ahead and take A LOT of notes but i still was confused on many concepts and was swamped with too much material in one day.
Excellet prof. You have to WANT to learn biology. I took the 4-week summer lecture class with him-it moved VERY fast and was a lot of work & wasn't boring & he helped EVERY time I asked-and he wasn't condescending. The study guides are key for tests.

Worst teacher, if you want to teach your self take this class, he teaches nothing, just basicly states that you need to know this and thatyou needed to read this and says some tech words about orgainisms goes over board on evolution, He stuff is complete ****
I hate this guy, His lectures sucked all he could do was complain about creationis he said he went to a catholic chuch but doesnt belive in God??? Testhard, doesnt explain just says this is what will be on the test and doesnt explain what the thing is. Spends half the hour on asking question. Hard teacher do not take him!!!! warning warning warning
Professor Loring is not a good teacher to take from. Not only do his lectures not follow a pattern to take notes from, but his test questions are unclear and confusing. I'm a good student and I study hard, but I am even having problems in his class. You will be required to teach yourself most of the class from the book.
i dreaded going to this class. he goes off on random thoughts which have nothing to do w/subject matter. No class interaction at all. just hands out a study guide for each chapter and that is it. Tests are hard. Should not be a teacher, but you can tell he loves science.
if i could rate this guy any lower i would. like negative infinity lower. let me just sum him up in one word for you: SUCKS. and it doesn't help that he's like an animal backed into a corner whenever it comes to evolution. be prepared to get your fill on the phrase: "again guys..." loring=boring.
He is the most hardcore evolutionist I have ever come in contact with. If you are against evolution DO NOT take his class.
he is a very nice man. He is very smart, but he can't really translate down to students. he almost always answers your questions with a question and talks forever about nothing important. you have to teach yourself and the tests are very random and hard.
He has to be the worst teacher that I have ever had. He does not teacher you at all. The whole class is based off test. You go in he gives you a paper that has objectives and you are on your own. He doesn't teach you anything. I wouldn't take him if you have a choice! He is horrible!
Oh my gosh...loring was absolutely terrible. He can literally turn a straight A student into a first time D. He fails to explain anything whether it's from the book or lectures. His tests are very hard, and my class average was 66%. What does that tell you? Do not take anything from this man!!!
This guy really likes to go off on tangents. . . Really dull.
He is SO hard and does not care that no one in class gets what he is saying. It is impossible to get an A in his class. A students will get a B.
Very nice guy but he can't explain things well and his tests are difficult because they are cumuliative.
He is very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching biology. However, he is highly unrealistic aboutthe amount of material you have to know in the short span of the course. His tests are ridulously hard. At the time of this course I was taking chemistry, which I got an A.In Bio Lab I got a B. In this class I got a C. I do not recommend taking him.
He is enthusiastic about teaching biology. However, he is highly unrealistic of all the material you have to cover in the short amount of time given. His tests are very hard. I took chemistry at the same time and got an A, in Bio Lab I got a B, and in this course I got a C. I do not recommend this professor. He makes you memorize pointless info.
HORRIBLE TEACHER! THIS is the HARDEST I HAVE EVER TRIED IN A CLASS AND IT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! I READ EVERY FREAKIN PAGE AND STUDIED AROUND 20 HRS A WEEK! WORST INSTRUCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD! NO INTERESTING CLASS DISCUSSIONS.. LETS JUST say he likes to hear his own voice and his tests are 100 questions and he only gives you 50 mins!! RIDICULOUS!
He IS a hard teacher, and his tests ARE hard, but he's fair on grading them. If a lot of people miss the same questions, he gives everyone extra points overall.
I don't know why so many people did not like his teaching. You have to work, but he is fair and a great teacher. Just show up for class, and try to learn people. College is not supposed to be easy.
You'll need to study, but I think he made the class fairly interesting.
Loring is a really nice guy, but his lectures are hard to stay awake through. Make sure you are always in class and he doesn't care if your late. Make sure you read the book and the tests are killers!
He is an easy going nice guy who is very helpful but expects alot out of his students if Biology just really isn't your thing and you hate super long tests find a differnet professor. *Professor Loring strongly belives in cumulative tests!!!
Loring is an *extremely* difficult professor. His tests were 100 questions long and were cumulative (over all the material covered). He does provide study guides but they are written in a way in which you can read the entire Chapter and have no idea what the objective was. Terriblely difficult professor do not take Biology from this guy!!!
He's a nice guy that wants everyone to do good, but not many did. He doesn't teach lab. His test have 100 Qs on them over seven chapters at a time. Too much to handle. He's always willing to help if you ask though. If BIO isn't your strong subject, look elsewhere for professors. If it is easy for you, he's a great proffessor.
He is a very intelligent man who does care about you. I have never had a better teacher. He made me love science and I can't thank him enough. Don't listen to these people his class changed my life.
Worst teacher I have ever had!
Loring is hard as any Biology professor could be. He has insanely long test and has the audacity to give you a useless study guide. Do yourself a HUGE favor an find annother professor.
If he didn't give attendance points, my grade would have been a D or F. There's a huge amount of material on tests.
Nice guy but...I studied more than I ever have and failed almost every test. I have a notebook full of notes that did not help, because, on his tests, he expects you to know everything about biology. This is the only class I sucked at this semester, so I know it's not me.
Requires that you memorize lots of info and all of of his test are comprehensive. So if you miss just a few days your screwd. Teaches and assigns work as he expects his class aloneto be priority over all others Hard corp evolutionist.
DON'T TAKE HIM!he give u a study guide with all chapters in it and tell u he might not go over all ch. so study on ur own. 4 test X 200pts no extra credit. he loves 2 hear himself talk. i started his class with 32 people & when i dropped there was only 6 left. he don't try and help! u understand him or he won't care. fine a nicer teacher 4 urself.
I like him, but his class is very hard. If you like a challenge than you should take his class. His tests are 75-85 questions long, but as long as you actually do the study guide you should be fine.
Exams are hard!
Unless you plan on getting your PHD in Biology, stay away from Loring. I think he likes that his class is so hard. He is super smart but talks about Biology likes it's everyones fav. Stay away, stay far away..
Proff. Loring is a good person who has a lot of knowledge under his belt. He does, however have a very difficult time translating his knowledge to students. He acts as if he were speaking to a conference room full of hard core evolutionists. u NEVER have to go to class-its useless. the bio book will be your bible, learn to love it cuz he does!
Dr. Loring is pretty difficult, but he isn't difficult if you aren't trying to get an easy A and actually study the material. He gives you entire study guide packets on what to expect on the tests and sticks true to them. If you aren't planning on being a biology major, though, you might want to take someone else. If you are, his class prepared me.
Hard class, wouldnt recommend. sorry but hes difficult. Gives you study guides, and then goes over completely diffrent material in class
The class is difficult, and the best you can do to pass it is read the text book. Loring, as enthusiastic as he might be about biology, is an incomprehensible lecturer, who has trouble keeping his own personal beliefs out of the classroom to the point of being borderline offensive.
He was a very difficult teacher. he told us repeatedly that few people pass his class and that prob all of us would fail. he was right. class started with about 40 there are now 8 left. his tests were cumulative but did not let you keep the old tests to study from. he was very boring didnt try to engage the students or keep them interested
Good guy, the class is 90% text + 10% lecture. Very hard, but hopefully passable.
In my opinion: the textbook is a high school reading level, contains generic information, incorrect data; his guides are so long that any student without prior knowledge would never be able to learn all the information; ambiguous exams and he does not test the students over knowledge of biology his tests are full of English comprehension curve balls
Loring is one of the best professors I've ever had. He actually cares about whether or not his students learn the material. Most people hate him because he doesn't just hand out A's. Yes, it is hard to get an A if you don't put any effort into it. After taking his biology class, I see the world in a whole different way, and I used to hate science.
I went into this class wanting to have a major in journalism and came out wanting to have a major in evolutionary biology. I loved this class, and would often talk to Dr. Loring after class. I must admit, I had slight interests in biology before taking the class, I just had extreme interest after taking the class. Don't take if you hate biology!
DO NOT take this course from this professor. He's very impressed with himself, and his knowledge on the subject. Additonally, he is aware of how unrealistic his expectations are for an introductory course such as this, and takes pride in the low number of grades above a C that students earn. He comes across as helpful, but it's a rouse.
This class is really hard. His tests are rediculous and comprehensive. The stuff he teaches you and the things on his test are way different. He expencts you to have alot of prior knowledge coming into this class. Seems helpful til you need him. Wouldnt suggest anyone take it from him. Im an A-B student and struggled horribly. Very boring class
He was very nagtive he just wasn't helpful
First day of class prof. Loring actually told us that if we were taking more than just his class and had jobs that we would fail. he expected us to be completely dedicated to his class. this was supposed to be an INTRO class. Needed prior knowledge. Nobody ever came to class. We all just read the textbook and hoped we could pass his tests.
If you want to be challenged, really challenged this is it. It's like entering the octagon when you take this class, prepare to be mentally challenged and exhausted. This class is passable but you have to work your butt off for it. He makes other biology teacher's jobs easy when you complete his course. If you just want to pass pick someone else!
secret:convert each ? or idea from study guide into a flashcard, take 2 days to answer them all, and another day to make the flash cards(3 days total). Study 10 at a time till you know them, then add 10 more, etc. Lots of work but it will work. This is the technique I developed and now kill other classes with it. Are you TUF enough!? thx prof!
He's not that bad of a teacher. He expects you to be responsible and take notes. To pass this class you just have to write the answers to the study guide and take notes in class. He lets you have cheat sheets for the tests. P.S. He gets excited a lot over weird things but is almost monotone. Be prepared to study. A lot.
By all means find a different teacher if you aren't a Biology major. Every exam he gave us was comprehensive and even with 'cheat sheets' that he allowed us they were dense and obscure. A terribly hard, dull class.
Mr. Loring has a very positive approach to the class. Attend regularly and do the work and you'll be fine.
Hes a good teacher, although sometimes i have no idea what going on because sometimes he jumps from.subject to subject, thing arent quiet clear all the time
Biology is a required class for my degree, I was not looking forward to taking it. Professor Loring has done a pretty good job keeping my interest in this class. He grades fairly and is available to help out his students.
I was initially scared to take a biology class, but Loring has made it painless. He goes over everything many times to help you understand it, and the only way to get a poor grade is if you're lazy and don't take notes or do the study guides. He gives many chances to get help if you need it. I enjoy biology quite a bit now.
I was not looking forward to taking this class, at all. Loring obviously loves bio. His excitement makes it a lot easier to enjoy the class. You have to attend lecture, stay up on reading. He says at the beginning of the year, it takes 2 hours a day to keep up. It doesn't. Stay on track with the syllabus. Good intro bio class.
Great teacher, teaches what you need to know, makes it easier when necessary, great for students who want to be a biology major. his tests are cumulative which is great if you want to remember information when you get out of his class, but is so hard. Not an easy A, but if your major is somewhere with science, take Loring.
Awesome teacher. He really loves teaching Biology which makes the class very enjoyable.
Great teacher, He is very passionate about Biology and is clear and thorough in his teaching. Definitely not an easy class but you learn A LOT. He is very precise about what is on his tests and in LAB. You have to attend class all the time or you will fall behind quickly!
Very helpful and is always available whenever you have questions. If you do what is asked of you and keep up with it then everything in the class is easier for you.
Really great professor. Made the class and biology in whole really interesting.
If you want to dedicate your entire semester to biology and every little thing about it, take his class. He doesn't miss anything in any chapter. There is so much information to learn. He goes over at least 2 chapters a day and piles on way too much information.
Very helpful, just a lot of information. The test are hard, but are fair and usually throws out questions, which will improve your grade. Just show up to class and take notes.
I hadn't taken Biology for over 20 years. Loring made it as painless as was possible to relearn main concepts. I would recommend this professor to anyone who fears their Biology requirement.
I hate Biology and it's never been easy for me. Loring would go through everything so fast, i could never get it down. I thought he was hard but then again, I took him in the summer. We had a quiz in every lecture and lab and homework every night. You don't want to miss one class cause then you'll be behind. I don't recommend him.
If you miss a day you're done for. He's a good teacher and gives examples, but there is just too much homework in this class. You get a 3 part homework assignment for every chapter (Study Guide, Power Point, and Definitions) and that's not including Pre-Lab and Lab work. It's just too much for non-majors who don't care about Biology.
If you want a challenge, take Loring's class. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge- you must be very responsible because you pretty much have nto read every chapter and be able to answer any questions on the study guide perfectly before you take the test.
If you're up for a challenge, take Professor Loring's class. It's not as hard as it seems like it's going to be, but it is rather difficult. Personally I appreciated the challenge- most of the time. He's easy to go to if you have questions and very quick to respond to email.
Loring is a great teacher to an extent. He has powerpoints for lecture (which are on angel w/ everything else) & then has clicker quizzes before class. Gives a big study giude for tests, but I never used it. Write everything he says down b/c thats whats on the tests. Tests can be hard & are cumlative. Must show for class. Good luck!
Loring is TOUGH but I learned a lot from him. Each test is cumulative which I found very hard considering you don't get to keep your past tests. I got an A bc as long as you get an A on the final you get an A in the class. Always willing to help and very quick to respond to emails. Provides in depth study guides but you JUST need to know that info
If you are going to school and working full time, this IS NOT the class for you. You must do the homework and show up to every class or else you're screwed. Very easy to contact.
Loring was not a helpful teacher at all. He moved way too fast through the material. I feel like a basically had to teach myself the material. There were no quizzes or homework given so your grade depends solely on your test scores.
The class is only tough because of all the memorization- and thats just Biology. Loring is a great teacher; he gets very animated and excited about what he teaches. Sometimes he will get a little carried away: giving long answers to simple questions. But he is very eager to help students and a really cool, nice guy in general. I learned a lot.
The curriculum is hard, not the professor. He is a very nice guy who is always ready to help you understand. He is a great professor who really takes an interest in what he teaches. I would recommend taking his class if you need to take BIO. No matter what professor you choose, the class is HARD. But, this is the guy to learn it from. He cares!!!!!
Very good teacher, actually seemed to be genuinely excited about teaching the course. I worked full time so didn't have much time to study at all and still managed to get a high B
He is a really good teacher. You have to go to class though, if you miss a day you will quickly fall behind. Do the labs, quiz questions come from them and the power points. also pay attention during lecture, he gives power point hand outs and tells you which slides hes pulls exam questions from. He really likes biology and you can tell!
Professor Loring is a really nice teacher but his class is way to much for a NON MAJOR course. Your expected to know a whole lot of information which may or may not be on the test. His test are tricky as well and the way they are worded can be unclear. I would not suggest taking his class unless you have a genuine interest in biology.
Mr. Loring says that everything you need for the tests are on his powerpoint handouts, but that is not always true. If you have some base knowledge of biology, this class may be a good choice for you, but if you have not taken any other biology classes it may not be your best choice.
This class was terrible. He doesn't teach you everything you need to know for the tests and expects you to read the handouts, powerpoints, and the textbook PRIOR to class and spend 10+ hours a week studying stuff you don't even go over in class. WAY to much for a NON MAJORS course. Only take if headed in the biology direction. If not, stay away.
I've never received anything but an A my whole life. Professor Loring changed that. He demands an absurd amount from his students. Spent four hours a day studying and got a C or worse on all of his tests. He is unclear and covers way too much content. He is unforgiving with grades and makes it hard to succeed. He is the worst teacher I've ever had.
For an intro to biology class Loring made me eternally loath science. His lectures were long and tedious as well as the labs. This is an intro to bio and he expected us to know EVERYTHING there is to know about bio. My friend and I were shunned with taking this class and we would never take his class again. Strict teacher. Too much material.
For a student that gets all A's and some B's I'm struggling to get a C in this class. Too much material for a non-majors course. Loring is willing to help and responds to emails quickly, but shoves way too much information for this course. He needs to be teaching at a higher level of biology, or in a class for biology majors. Class is very tough.
Worst class I have ever had in my entire life. He expects entirely too much of you. All tests are cumulative and are very specific. Way too much material to possibly know it all. I'm a good student who usually gets As and Bs and I had to work really hard just to get a C. Stay away unless you are going to med school or major in science. Beware!
Loring is a great guy. He enjoys science and I appreciate that. This is not an easy course. I have never worked so hard for a B. However, Loring is helpful, available to students and pleasant. He does use a curve, but don't slack knowing that. I feel like the other reviews are confusing a challenging course load with bad teaching. Not the case!
Give way too much information for tests. Also tells you to set aside 2 hours for his class to study EVERY NIGHT! Some people have jobs, kids etc and that is ridiculous for one class when many people are taking 5
I blew off half the class meetings and managed a solid C, I only say that because for students who try, they will do well in the course. He is a little dry when lecturing. All of his tests are multiple choice and uses scantrons, there are no papers, and he does expect you to do the reading and lab prep. Has a REALLY short quiz each meeting and lab.
Taking this course from this professor will give you a solid introduction to biology. Study by reading assigned chapters, working through study guides, and you'll earn a good grade! Easy enough course. Be prepared to commit ACTUALLY to learning some basic biology.
Prof. Loring expects students to put 12 hours a week into studying outside of school. I am taking 16 credit hours and working this semester, so I didn't have the time to put in. His teaching style (very repetitious on unhelpful topics) just didn't work for me, and since you can't do well without lectures, this was a pretty difficult class.
He is a good teacher but his class is difficult. He tells you, you must be able to give 10 hours a week to study and his tests cover every last test you took. The class was interesting and I passed because his lectures were full of test subjects. Missing class is not a good idea. Just pay attention and study and you'll pass.
His class will be easy if you attend on all of his lectures and take really good notes because in this class you have memorized so much information for the exams (exams are not too long), but not too complicated, some are easy to memorize. He explains everything very well and helps students that have questions. STUDY EARLY AND TAKE GOOD NOTES!!
Loring was a very good professor. Very straight-forward class. Just read the assigned chapters and you should be good. Lectures are useful but not really required.
This class was not an intro to biology course. In class he talks and expects you to already do all the reading before class so he talks as if you already know it and doesnt explain well. Honestly dont even need to go to class to study for tests you have to do it all on your own outside of class. Only have tests and quizzes no other points.
This class is extremely hard he is not helpful at all. Talks above you and past your comprehension so hard to follow. All tests are comprehensive even the last one which is the same as the final pretty much just shorter. Everyone I talked to got Cs at best on tests and usually lower. Class is a waste of time you have to learn it yourself at home.
This class was awful!!! He doesn't really explain anything. He gives you two or three sheets of paper of bullet points for the chapters. The readings are hard to understand. What makes the class hard is because the course builds up over time. If you did horrible at the beginning of the semester don't expect to do better by the end. Don't take him!
I loved taking this class! It wasn't too hard for me, and it shouldn't be hard for you either. He has weekly quizzes over that week's lab that you can easily study for and get 100%, all it takes is about 10 minutes of studying the book. All in all, he is a very knowledgeable person with clear and concise lectures, just show up to his class to pass
Loring is an amazing professor. He is extremely passionate about teaching and is willing to help you succeed as much as possible. ALL test are comprehensive, meaning you have to continually study all of the material through the semester. Hard class but if you put in the work it is worth it.
He was a fun teacher but you are almost expected to teach yourself. He'll assign you study guide questions over the weekend and normally gives a pop quiz during the week before you've even covered the material in class. He's very passionate about biology which is fun but can sometimes go off on a tangent or get ahead of himself. All in all not bad.
Professor Loring expects a lot out of his students and expects them to spend every moment of their free time studying biology. I took this class during the Summer, and we had to basically read multiple chapters each week and understand the material. If you love biology, you'd love this class.
Loring will say this class requires at least an hour of reading/studying a day and if you can make that kind of time, LISTEN TO THE MAN. This course is so heavy on content, you'll come out of it with half a tree's worth of notes, study guides, and diagrams. If you pace yourself, though, he is a wonderful professor to guide you through the material.
Professor Loring is respected professor for his complete knowledge for biology but heavy lecture & tests.
This professor gives way to much work, notes, and tests over too much material; very confusing!
People, do not take him! He is a nice person but is not meant to be a professor. Seriously, he should've chosen a different career. He is lecture heavy and gives out so many handouts for the material he expects you to memorize for 12 hours each week. His tests are an absolute nightmare. By the end of the semester, most people had dropped the class
Due to COVID-19, we had no other choice to take classes online. Loring has escpecially made this a tad bit harder. He's a great guy but in these difficult times, he made things a lot more stressful.
This professor isn't a horrible teacher there is just a LOT of handouts that don't always apply to the quizzes and tests. He really cares about his students and this class turned into online because of COVID -19 and it was a lot more difficult but I struggled with online classes as is. At the end of the day he's not bad. Lots of lectures.
Professor Loring is a good professor, but I do not think he quite understands how everyone is keeping up with Online schooling. He says that each student should be reading their book for an hour a day at minimum, which is absurd. He does not teach the material over zoom lectures, he reads it to the students. He is a great teacher, but not online.
Took class during Covid and it was mainly zoom. Put in the work and you will get an A. 3 lab exams and 3 lecture exams and a final. A pop quiz about every chapter with a heads up. Just mainly need to watch the lecture videos and print off the chapter outline and just take notes over the objectives and you'll be fine. Super nice and helpful prof
Bio for non-majors translated VERY POORLY to an online format. Lectures were replaced with reading the textbook, labs were replaced with reading the lab manual... So why do I need a professor at all? It also didn't help that most of the information was very dry, a ton of memorizing definitions without anything fun or interesting.
If the class is 50 minutes he blows away 30 minutes yammering on and on about what we are going to cover instead of actually covering it. The guy can't shut up and get to the teaching. It has taken him an entire week to go over basic principles like scientific method because he just can't stop droning on.
