Teaches too slow and doesn't cover all the material. Only derives theorems; doesn't show you how to use them.

Best Teacher I ever had
i dreaded taking math but he explained the material well and i understood it.
If you have trouble with math then this teacher is the best. He explains everything and answers all your questions. He is very patient and really cares about his students. he has been teaching for a long time and he has it down to a science!!
This is a very nice teacher! He explains things pretty well and clearly. Very patient, willing to answer your questions. This teacher is for those who want to learn and those who need extra help in math!
didn't explain anything and when the whole class gots c's on his tests it was because WE didn't study.
david lowenkron is a great teacher, very passionate about the subject,if you struggle on his hmwork you can call him at all hours of the day and he'll help you. Good guy, highly reccomend
explains everything in detail but spends much of the time deriving equations and now applying it. he is sometimes hard to follow.
Great teacher. Loves what he does. A little off if you ask me, but thats what people like about him. Very helpful
He teaches very well and work really hard on his job! A very excellent teacher!!!
Prof. Lowenkron is not a good teacher to have. Whenever you want to do a problem from the handed homework. Then it never gets answered nor taught. So if your going to get this class...i specify that you dont. Not as helpful... My Advice: Select another.
This guy is not a good teacher at all! He spends all the time prooving the formulas in the book and then says does anyone want to stay after to learn how to actually do the work. If you do not want an F do not take his class.
HE is an extremely thorough teacher, so don't expect an easy A. He will take the time to explain whatever material you may have touble understanding, but it is necessary to do the work if you want to understand is explainations. He does not spoon feed.
he's very smart, but his teaching style is aweful. he talks very fast and is hard to follow. you are graded on a few tests and about 5 hand in homeworks. the only plus is that 60% is a C....his tests are about 25-30 questions you have to work out.
He is such a great professor. His lectures keep you awake. There's is only few homework assignments. He's always willing to help outside of class. will even call u!
This teacher explains the formulas in the book and not how to do the math! Stay as far away from him as possible
He's aight...got a C because the final was super hard! the test r old..like 1980's or something. he does waste alot of time though..always kept us longer than needed because he kinda sucked...he's a weirdo!
Do not take this teacher!!!! This is a warning. He gives a lot of homework, goes on and on about proving theorems. Is still teaching the class even after class is over. His tests are simple, but he will mark you off if not precise!
Lowenkron is a very good teacher overall. This is the second time I took calculus and I understood it much more, that is until we ran out of time at the end of the semister and we had to rush through a few things. Also keeps the class later than scheduled
Probably the best teacher I have ever had! Not someone your going to feel a close connection with, but great clarity and explains things well. Not super easy, but thorough and dedicated to helping you understand the material. Great guy!
He is very hard on people who have questions. He usually likes only a handfull of pets and no one else. You will spend 1/3 of the semester on simple proofs and go like lightning through everything else. I do not recommend him unless you are A+ material and then you will get a B.
This guy cares! The problem is, some students do not. He tasks you, he gives you homework (and hey, it IS calculus so it's going to take some WORK), and he does his best to teach you. I learned a LOT from him, and feel he is one of the best math instructors I've ever had. Kudos to Mr. Lowenkron!
He goes in detail about the subject in different ways. gives extra help after class and office hours. class did seem very hard at first, but he is more leanant about grading then he comes accrross to people when he talks.
On the positive side: enthusiastic, nice, and funny, but I felt patronized several times. He gives a 60-79% C grade span. On the down side: fast talker, teases class, unclear as to what will be on tests, & timed exams. I often left class feeling lost/frustrated. I used a tutor 2x/week in addition.
He can be nice, but this is a never makes up for his scatteredness and occasional meanness. Fast talker, singles out some students for their pace and ability. If you are not a star in his class, be ready to be teased and mocked. I am not a fan and did not learn to enjoy math what so ever.
Absolutely the best math teacher I've ever had!
This guy is the best math teacher I have ever had. I have never had a professor who cared more about his students. He wants you to learn. He expects you to know your stuff, but his lectures are very clear. You must keep up with your homework, but most is not graded. You can call him any time!
All I can say is what a jerk. He belittles people. Never ask a question you might think is a little dumb, he will pounce on you like a cat on a mouse. Yes, he knows his stuff and loves to prove proof’s. The class is slow at first but picks up speed rapidly half way through. If you like a very hard t
This is by far one of the best math teachers I have ever had! He's quirky, but he will teach you everything you need to know! He starts from the basics and works his way up to the hard stuff. 4 tests, a few hand in HW, and a final. Can drop one test and HW. Repetative, but it makes you remeber it!
I have not done well in this class but its all my fault. I am talking 21 units and Mr. Lowenkron has only been supportive of me. I have gone to his office hours where he has been very dedicated to helping me succed. Maths not my thing but I sure amd glad I have(in class now) this professor!
If you are a Clone and have little personal skills this is your teacher. If you are a regular person take this class somewhere else. He has a mulitple choice test that make youe feel like you are brain dead. Avoid him and his ancient ways and misundrstandings of calculators.
this is not the class for someone who has a day job. his class requires alot of attension he teaches from a different book and doesnt follow the book required. teaches before tests on test day and final day. TRUST ME IF YOU ARE TAKING NIGHT SCHOOL AND TWO CLASSES AT NIGHT WORKING DURING THE DAY AVOID THIS CALCULUS CLASS, GET ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR BAD!
believe everything bad said he doesnt let you use your calculator and no reviews before tests. He expects you to remember every formula you come across, yea right! this is not an instructor i recomend. I got a c in this class and im majoring in engineering. he will only bring your gpa down
this is the best teacher i've ever had. he insists on understanding fundamentals and proving things. expects you to know definitions word for word but this is important for anyone that will continue taking math. if you just need calc for an econ major or something you really might not enjoy or find value in this, but if continuing in math its good.
A good teacher but he gets alittle excited at times and starts talking way too fast. he expects alot.
Cares about his students success very much. Always makes himself available to help. Light hearted attitude cracks jokes in classroom. He's goofie because his jokes are not funny but u cant help but laugh. tests are fairly easy.goes over homework in beg of class then intorduces new material. Tries to answer as many students questions in class.
Lightnng quick speech & likes to answer questions with questions. Tries to make the inferior in Math feel even more inferior. Gets on tangents & likes to prove & invent theories. Hard to keep with his notes. Arrogant. Humility would suit him. Tests are out of seq. with how you learned. Sadistically plays "Jedi- Mind-Tricks" on tests & hand-in's
He was terrible! Not helpful! Went to fast! Tests were hard! Gives non hand in hw daily, & actual turn in hw every once in a while for a grade! I'd never take his class ever again!
Docks points for not memorizing proofs word for word on tests. Need to show work in explicit steps for him to recognize to recieve full credit. Makes you buy a certain book but teaches from a different book which isn't relevant and insulting. Ditch this professor and find one with a better reputation.
He teaches well. He obviously cares about his students and always makes himself available to help you succeed in his class.
This teacher is a total math dork! He gets excited talking about math. Super boring class, couldn't stay awake. Gives a lot of details that are unnecessary. Wierd.
Really enjoys what he teaches. He’s incredibly helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile for students. Highly recommend.

Great teacher. Goes over material until students understand. Willing to spend extra time with students after class. If he was teaching Math 110 I'd take him again.
If you want to learn math, take this instructor. Great knowledge and very willing to help, BUT...you have to do your part to get anything out of the class. His syllabus states that if you put forth effort, you will be amazed at the results.. I did, and I was. If you are a slacker, stick with basket weaving and Math 40.
Very clear with pre calc examples at the beginning to set the foundation for later calculus examples. The best math teacher I have EVER had. If you are excellent at math though you may be frustrated by his thoroughness.
He's an ok guy. he goes over some unnessesary stuff, and for the most part he sounds like a talking book. only gives out like 5 hw assignments (MAKE SURE YOU DO THEM! THEYRE BIG GRADES) and he gives ton of extra credit at the end... but overall he's ok
As long as you put forth the effort required, you will do very well. His exams towards the end of class were a bit challenging, although a lot of extra credit was offered. This is one of the few professors at Palomar that really knows the material he is teaching to his students.
not very organized
Mr. Lowenkron is a very hard-working teacher. He is very willing to help everyone. Just ask him question when you have hard time.He has been teaching for 37 years, but he's still trying to be a better teacher."Show me that you really care about your own learning. I will do all I can do to help you achieve genuine success." He said. Great teacher!
personally, i hate math more than anything else on the planet. but he made it somewhat bearable. His class is easy...he gives homework every night but doesnt collect it, which is perfect for me. Kind of has a woody allen nervous personality. very high strung, but can be entertaining. doesnt cancel class, doesnt let you out early. EVER.
This class was a MESS! I am not a good math student- keep that in mind. SO I need help, hate homeowrk, & hope that the tests are easy. THere was nothign I could do to pass this class. He is totally unorganized & confussing. He lectures fast & expects perfection from u. I'm actually taking a "W" to get a better teacher. It is worth it to me.
Math dork w/contrived mult. choice questions on tests to see what you really know. He teaches to the smart ones & is short w/the rest. Acts as if he cares but really doesn't. I still have nightmares over the anxiety he promoted around his testing. His unorginization made me frustrated-My notebook was all over the place. S/B teaching H.S.
David Lowenkron is a math wiz. He knows the material very well and all he wants from his students is for them to work hard and care about their education. He is a very nice guy and extremely helpful. He was organized in class you just have to keep up. I would recommend him to any non-lazy student.
I would not recomened taking this teacher at all. He gets very up mad if don't understand the material. Wont slow down at all even if you ask him to. He was screaming at his students over nothing and hiting the white board. He also like digs through the trash for some imagnary numbers. I would recomended to avoid this teacher. Don't expect any help
I tried really hard in this class, hoping that Lowenkron would help me if he saw that I was showing an effort...alas I was terribly wrong. He runs very late and gets offended if students leave when the class is SUPPOSED to be over. He goes far to fast and has nearly impossible office hours. He is not very available for his students...STEER CLEAR!
TESTS ARE REALLY HARD! About 10 question test, each question is worth 10points. if you get four questions wrong, you'll fail. grade only comes from tests. 30min before the class ends, he'll give you the test. You'll end up staying untill an hour after the class has already ended. never gets out early, never cancels class. EVER!
The best math teacher I have ever had.I wish I had him earlier on in my math classes.Calc I is not an easy course and he didn't make it "easy" he just made it as clear as possible when it comes to speaking in mathematical terms.I recommend him to anyone who truely puts value in their education. If you are looking to understand, not just an "easy" A.
Mr. Lowenkron really cares about math and his students. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he loves questions & is always willing to help you. Loves teaching & you will learn a lot! If you give it your all and you have a good attitude, you will succeed in this class and you'll feel like you accomplished something significant.
Very good teacher, knows his stuff. Some people don't like him cuz they think he's weird. I don't disagree that he's a little weird. But it makes no difference as to how good a teacher he is. He's always willing to keep explainin when you don't understand, if you fail his class it's probly cuz u didn't LET him help you.
This is a really great teacher. He moves through the material a little slow, but since calculus is tough for me I appreciated that. His grading system is fair, and he has a tolerable personality
Lowenkron uses every second he has to teach. Although he may seem weird and un-helpful he is actually there for you as long as you are asking questions and he sees you being involved with the class. homework assignments are easy and you always know when the tests are. if you have questions ASK, thats how he helps you.
He is the best of the best instrctor in Palomar Col. If you don't like math, but you need the class, he will help you at any time. I love his way of teaching and his syllabus. He has been working really hard to help his students understanding the material. I cann't say thank you enough to him because of his time and effort. Thank you very much.
He is one of the best professor's i have ever had! he really takes time out to gelp with any question you have! and explains everything to the max. to pass this class all you need to do is do the homework and ask any questions you have! he's GREAT!
great teacher id recommend to anyone :)
kewl guy:)
Professor Lowenkron is one of my favorite teachers. His enthusiasm about mathematics and teaching is great and it really shows in his work. He is a very interesting character and an excellent teacher.Take one of his classes!
this is one teacher who truly cares about his students. he will go out of his way to make sure ur questions are answered and you understand the material. Truly a GREAT TEACHER!
hes a good teacher.
he is a good teacher..but you need your own passion for study..and you need to be more concern about study..
he is a good teacher..i am not gonna write more but he is nice
this guy is a STUD! i stay at school 12 hours just for his class. best teacher ever, makes calculus super easy. those who thinks that he is hard are just dumb at math. he will go a little faster at as the semester ends, but just study and get that A.
Great professor, does his job well. You can call him at any time and is willing to help you. Lots of H.W.
Prof. Lowenkron was a wonderful teacher. He thoroughly explained all long and short ways of working algebra problems, all while still keeping a sense of humor.
I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Lowenkron! He truly wants all his students to keep moving forward and not be left behind. He teaches with passion and clarity, providing a solid connection to his students. Just as in any other class, if you attend class, pay attention, and do HW, you will do well. The only con is that he assigns alot of homework!
Good teacher, but he is socially awkward. Very arrogant, he really believes that he is the best math teacher at Palomar. Talks way too fast, making it hard for the students to understand. Don't get me wrong, he is good at what he does, however he has been teaching for 40 years and is too stubern to see how he needs to change his teaching.
Just a different teacher. Way too arrogant for his own good. If you pay attention you will learn and get through the class but this teacher is really hard to pay attention to. He starts yelling for no apparent reason about an issue as if someone called him out on it. Really, this teacher needs to grow-up a little bit.
We just had an exam today and tomorrow is our final! Extremelly unclear as to what is on the test. Very annoying to listen too. I would say he knows math but he doesn't know how to teacher. VERY ARROGANT! Do not take this teacher. Many times he is just flat out mean. I'm a math freak and this guy makes me want to change my major to English.
Good teacher, I would say he needs to slow down a lot more. Humility would be a good pill for him to take. Apart from that he's alright. I wouldn't take him if you are not already that great at math though.
This professor has an interesting style of teaching stressing the basics to the point when the semester ends you cover 2 chapters in a week. He speaks very fast and only seems to know one way of teaching so when you ask a question he merly repeats what he has just explained. Yet he is a very earnst teacher and wishes to help his students
he is a decently hard teacher, but is really good at teaching. i found this class tough but he allows lots of ways to make up for having a bad grade. i had an F before the final, and ended up with a C, he is sympathetic and really helpfull. if you need his help talk to him!!
Great teacher! Speaks extremely quickly when he lectures, but ALWALYS repeats himself to the point where it may be too repetitive, but at least you WILL understand the material. Takes A LOT of time going over ANY problem you have, and makes you feel well prepared. Though his tests may be demanding, you'll come fine.
Excellent teacher. As other have said, he does stress the basics, but this is for the benefit of the students. Don't expect to pass the class by just showing up, but also don't worry about failing. If you're earnestly trying hard he's willing to take extra time to help you pass.
Lowenkron is an awesome teacher! He is always willing to help! I wish he taught 141!!
just finnished diffy Q and his little saying still make us all laugh.
He is very dedicated to teaching the required information but makes sure you understand the background of that information. He is a great teacher, one of the best!
Mr. Lowenkron is a dedicated, caring teacher that really wants his students to fill the gaps on what they should've learned in high school. He talks a bit on the fast side but will repeat himself and aks if he needs to slow down, so he's very considerate and aware of his speed. I would take any math class from him!
Mr. Lowenkron is a fantastic teacher. If you are struggling with math, I highly recommend taking it with him. He explains it extremely well. He is passionate, nerdy, and a fantastic musician, and if you ever bump into him on the street, he is genuinely happy to see his students, and talk with them. I can't imagine a better teacher.
Amazing teacher. If you need help, he is always available. Answers emails on the same day or next, willing to stay after class every day to clear up issues. Gives out personal phone number for questions.. Just an amazing guy who really wants everyone to pass. If you don't pass his class it's because you don't want to put effort into it.
Mr. Lowenkron is an awesome teacher. I struggle with math, but because of his teaching, I have been able to understand the material. Give him the respect he gives you and you will learn a lot from him. I highly recommend him if math is not your best subject.
I think that Lowenkron is a great professor who obviously loves teaching, however, his tests are hand-written and almost impossible to read, which makes getting a good grade really hard, no matter how easy the math is. Unless you're auditing the course, I wouldn't recommend taking him.
Mr. Lowenkron is an excellent math professor. He has a passion for math and a desire to share his knowledge with his students. I recommend him to anyone who is willing to be respectful and do their part as a student. You will not regret it.
Prof. Lowenkron was AMAZING. I was terrible at math before but he really explains in depth everything he expects of you & teaches everything really well. He's also very funny & understanding if you have trouble in the class. As long as you work hard & don't mess around he loves you!
Prof Lowencron is a really nice guy. He will help you if you need it. He is enthusiastic about math which is a relief. The only thing that sucks is that he didnt give us a 10 min break which all math teachers do!! Come on mr. Lowencrons a little break would refresh our minds!!! But, I recommend him you will pass if you ask questions and do ur work.
He is a little to passionate haha... His willingness and no life out of class helps you to understand anything he teaches. He put a lot of time into the curriculum and is able to teach yo without the text book. Overall the best math teacher I've ever had.
Passionate, funny, thorough, and always available for help. Encourages ALL questions and is extremely supportive. His teaching is so amazing I've decided to become a teacher to pass on the Lowenkron method. Long live Lowenkron!!!
I took his class over the summer, and was surprised how much I learned within eight weeks! He explains why things are the way they are, unlike most of my previous professors. His tests differed from what was assigned in homework, but he's not a slave to the numbers. Put forth the effort, and he'll reward you for it!
very passionate guy. Ask question, do your work, pay attention. Will explain, and explain, and explain. I would recommend to someone who has a hard time "getting it" and needs a professor who cares. You can reach him by phone any time.
One of the best Math professors I've every had! He starts from the basics and explains everything. His desire to make math come alive to his students and concern for their progress is detectable. He makes himself very accessible and helpful to students. Thank you so much professor you're the best!. Samar
Talks to fast. Doesn't explain things in more then one way, just repeats what he said the first time only louder and faster, strict grader, condescending, the list goes on
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He only explains things his way and doesn't like when you use a way that you like to use. He yells about everything and says we "NEED TO FIND A PASSION" when we are ready to leave when he keeps our class over(which is every class) never helps when you have questions and doesn't review for the final.
Do not take unless you are already familiar with algebra. Talks way to fast and only teaches you his way which is not always the best way and not in the book. Assignments even though not required can take anywhere from 2-6hrs to complete for each class. Doesn't do any review for exams or final so consider yourself warned
Terrible! He spent the majority of the semester teaching us extremely basic concepts then 3 weeks before the semester is over he tries to cram very important/difficult concepts in. He also didnt finish class til at least10 min. after we were supposed to get out every class and waits to assign homework til that time so no one can leave
He talks extremely quick everytime he brings up an important topic. If you ask him a question he will just repeat exactly what he said before and not try to put it into simpler terms. He also tried to schedule a regular exam and a final during finals week. Thankfully someone complained about it.
Good teacher and fair grader (drops lowest hw/test score). Final was considerably hard especially when we crammed a lot of info in the last few weeks. Spends too much time going over hw questions and proving theorems that important topics don't get covered in an appropriate amount of time. Nice guy and always makes himself available.
I have to recommend this teacher because I got Fs on every test (even though I spent hours every day doing all the HW and meeting with tutors)and he still passed me with a C. If you get a 60% in the class he guarantees you a C. But honestly, he isn't the best math teacher. I'm not a bad student either. I got As in every single class, but his :/
I had him for math 50 and 60. SOmetimes he drove me nuts but he has a method to his madness he is by far the best math teacher I have had. He really CARES about your learning and not every teacher does. If you put the work in and try, you will pass. Math is my hardest subject and I got B's. You earn the grade but he teaches well, tests are fair
If you want a dedicated teach that will go out of his way at 2 am to help you. This is your guy. Sadly though he has a major flaw. He spends to much time over the first 3/4 the class and to little on the last 1/4. The last 1/4 is the part that is essential to going into calc2. for his summer class, the class ends at 9pm but his tests go till 10pm+.
Mr. Lowenkron is one of the best math teacher's I've ever had. Calculus is not hard, it's the algebra that gets most people. Within the 8 weeks (Did this during Summer) my algebra skills have vastly improved and math is fun again. He can sometimes go off on tangents that might feel like a waste of time, but they do help. Take him
Clear, informative, and helpful. It's been a long time since I did any math, and his course really helped me tighten up my fundamentals. Sadly, he spent far too much time teaching Limits, so we didn't cover all the material needed to prepare for second semester calculus. That's obviously bad. But what we did cover was taught very well.
I took this class years ago and decided to rate Prof. Lowenkron because he is the best math prof. I've ever taken. I am now at SDSU and wish Prof. Lowenkron was there. I knew nothing about calculus and 8 weeks later I was super confident about my math skills. Take him!!!!
I really liked his enthusiasm u can definetly tell he loves his job. he doesnt give out mandatory hw besides every 2 weeks which consist of 6 problems from the chapters uve been reviewing and his tests arent too hard either. hes not too stiff on attendance either. but i would recommend buying the book
Just go to Prof. Lowenkron's office and you will see a wall covered in teaching awards. He's a very witty, engaging, and compassionate man. He will laugh at you (not in a mean way), but to put you at ease, he will laugh at himself too. His only teaching flaw is that he needs to work on time allotment for the material he covers.
Maybe because he is going thru a hard personal issue this semester, I think that affected his ability to teach. No ½ credit given on test, which by the way are 10 questions. He is really big into testing you on“Definitions” rather than actual math, god help you is you forget the word “the” or “an”, that is a 0 out of 10, again no half credit given.
He's a good teacher if your willing to be a good student. Those who do the homework will pass the test. The homework itself is not mandatory except for about 4 assignments throughout the semester but they are usually easy. He drops the lowest homework score your received as well as the lowest test score which is also nice. Hes a good teacher.
Worst teacher of my LIFE!!!!! HARD grader!Took him over summer and he didint give us any time to take our test I ended up staying over an hr after class just to finish! Some people 2 hours. I recommended NEVER take him
Prof. Lowenkron is a good teacher however i took him for summer semester and we did not cover all the topics we need to go into 2nd semester cal. he gives no study guides does not review for exams. I recommend not to take him during the summer. maybe in a regular semester.
He was an awesome teacher. I actually enjoyed coming to class because I knew everything he taught I would understand. He goes into depth why formulas work instead of just saying here you go. Cares about helping the students. His way of teaching was very clear. If you do the hw, you should do fine on the tests. Highly recommend him :)
Excellent Professor with humor! Know your definitions, how they apply to mathmatical concepts and you are sure to get an A. We had 4 hand in HW assignments 10 pts each, exams are 10-20 questions worth 100 points. He is available to students 24/7 email and phone calls. If you are looking for an easy A you won't get it without applying yourself!
goes too in-depth with formulas that are easy to remember, but makes you know how it was derived. very annoying. He needs to work on being more organized and his teaching style isn't very traditional either. good luck with keeping up on notes, he goes all over the place. tests are hard. umm anything else? yeah don't take him..
He's a nice guy, complicates the formulas too much, tests aren't too hard, you know what to expect and there are no surprises. He also has a good sense of humor.
STOP COMPLAINING! Mr. Lowenkron is a very good professor. HE DROP'S LOWEST EXAM, QUIZ SCORE, & 60%< IS A C!!! Their are far worse calculus teachers. yes, a large focus of his class is FUNDAMENTALS and knowing the definitions, which focus on not what your doing, but WHY. I personally loved how he taught, though he does have bad time management.
Extremely enthusiastic about math and truly wants his students to succeed. Always asked the class if they needed something elaborated or explained and thoroughly went over homework questions. AMAZINGLY FAIR GRADER. He assigns non hand-in homework for every class -- DO IT. Don't slack with it and you'll succeed.
Very helpful with any questions you might have. DO THE HOMEWORK because for most of the class he only goes over the questions from the night before. Also do as many questions on the board as possible. Overall a great teacher and a very easy class.
Professor lowenkron is one of the best if not the best math professor at palomar. He does stress the fundamentals, knowing definitions, theorems and being technical and precise. Many students don't like this but if you have to take higher level math you'll really appreciate professor lowenkron. Really wish he taught calc 3 also.
If you want to be humiliated and treated like a high school student then take this class. I ended up getting a B but many of my peers were not so lucky. It was super difficult and Mr. Lowenkron never made the subject matter easy to understand. In fact, sometimes he would even take up to 30 minutes to answer your questionI DON'T RECOMMEND HIM
Don't take this class for Math 56, this is the most unclear teacher i've ever taken. He definitely yells at the class when we don't know the answer like high school students. You need the textbook too.
Professor Lowenkron is passionate about the subject and definitely works with you as long as you put in the hard work, effort, and complete the daily hw assignments. Math has always been a low for me, but I know feel better about the subject. It's a shame that he never truly got the respect he deserves from his students
Is not an easy teacher, expects you to understand and explain your actions and reasoning. will answer all questions, is honest about your situation if you put in the effort. Not an easy teacher to push over, not an easy class. expects participation, and responses from you.
Amazing lectures! Professor Lowenkron is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. If you have a question about anything, just ask and he will break it down into the smallest operations so you understand from the ground up. He places a lot of importance on knowing fundamentals, and should. Knowing the fundamental properties will give you an A.
I took Prof Lowenkron for Pre-Cal and Calc I. He isn't very traditional but he is for sure an amazing math teacher; he really taught me how to enjoy math. Do all homework, even if it's not to be turned in, practice is what will help the most in all math courses. He gives extra credit to those who volunteer to show their work on the board!
Prof. Lowenkron was awesome. Always there to help you; will take the time to email you and will return a phone call quickly. If you put in effort, he will do what he can to help. Extra credit for putting problems on the board. Stresses fundamentals, which is great if taking calc 2+. This was a summer class, so it was fast paced, but manageable.
While he can be funny and is super enthusiastic about what he is teaching, he is super disorganized. He writes on one side of the board and then the other and just randomness. I couldn't keep orderly notes to save my life.
One of the best professors at Palomar College. Pay very close attention to his lectures and take notes. Professor Lowenkron does not just teach procedurally, his lectures really help you understand math conceptually (particularly calculus). No question to him is a stupid question, so if there is something you don't understand, ask him to clarify.
Absolute best professor I have had in college. He really stresses all the fundamentals, and truly believes in the saying no child left behind. He will go back and repeat himself countless times until every person in the class understand what is happening before moving on to the next step of a problem.
I took his Calculus class this semester and I had him for pre-cal last semester. He was my best math teacher I have ever had. He explains things in such good detail it's impossible to miss the point unless you just don't give a f&*^. He also gives EXTRA credit on test which is unheard of and a multiple choice test. Take him and you won't regret it!
Wow! So thankful for Professor Lowenkron. I took his class over summer as a repeat Calc student, & I have to stay his class was very enlightening! He spent way more time with fundamentals - making sure that we understood exactly HOW and WHY we were doing things. By the end of the course, I really feel like I grasped all concepts. He is truly great.
Absolutely the best math teacher I have ever had. He spares no detail when answering questions. And will answer your question very thoroughly regardless of the question. It can be about one specific step, and he will take the time to make sure you are not the only one benefiting.
Dont take him. Unorganized teaching style & bad time management. Class ends 15 mins LATE. Has a short temper w/ ppl who already know the subject. Tries to humiliate & berate them. S/B teaching HS. I dont know if he has an inside voice but if he does he certainly doesnt make use of it. He doesnt talk, he yells everything! Good thing Im a math wiz.
He's a REALLY tough grader. God forbid you miss a 'the' or an 'an'. He doesn't even give partial credit for silly mistakes. He makes you suffer for it. I regret taking this class. Hindsight's 20/20.
I would have rated him higher because he was okay overall but sometimes he was just downright RUDE to some of my classmates. IT REALLY IRKED ME. It just seems like someone his age should have better manners towards his students. He sometimes became upset when people left the room, but HE was the one who let class run nearly 2 HOURS without a break.
He spares no expense when answering your questions even if it's just about an algebra thing. He doesn't condescend. He's tough because he likes things done a certain way to ensure you know "the fundamentals". But we had 2 exams in 1 week because he spent an inordinate amount of time on Ch2. Good teacher, bad planner. Really stressful near the end.
Professor Lowenkron is an excellent teacher. He is passionate about what he does and really wants you to learn. He is a no nonsense kind of teacher but that's because he takes he's job seriously. He moves at a fast pace but will always go over any problem you ask and makes himself available for questions or help you may need. Great teacher! I
Lots of extra credit in the beginning, not so much near the end. Clustered learning schedule; we had two tests in one week... He explains things very in-depth. If you've ever wondered about the 'why' of math things, he'll explain it to you. Previous math teachers just said 'do this and that, don't ask questions' but he'll make you understand WHY
He likes to explain why things in math are the way they are. And he wants to make sure you know the fundamentals. He's a good choice for a night/late afternoon class. Lectures are really long though. If you ask a question he will give you a LONG, concise answer. He's not easy but also definitely not hard. If you study a good amount, you will pass.
Lowenkron is a very rare professors who wants nothing else but for you to succeed in his class. He explains everysingle step he takes,in detail, which really helps you learn the material. The class is very heavy on HW and the tests are not easy. He does offer plenty of extra credit on his tests though (for 140) and I managed to pass with a 95%.
Professor Lowenkron is a great professor, he makes you work for it but he means well and truly cares about his students. I took calculus over the summer, and although I didnt get the grade I wanted I learned a great deal. Hes a very fast paced, smart person with a big heart! His class is pretty easy to pass, just do all the work!
If you miss days, you will definitely fall behind. He teaches really fast and it can be easy to fall behind. If you pay attention and take the class seriously, it should be easy to get an A. I would stay away if you have a short attention span.
HE IS THE BEST! He is very nice and he really wants you to succeed. He gave 26 pts extra credit for the second exam, and 30 pts for the third one. He dropped the lowest exam score and hw,quizzes score. You get 10/34 multiple choice questions right you get an A for the final. Easy A
I got a high B for the final but he got me an A for full attendence&working hard
Tons of extra credit. TAKE HIM!
He is a very nice yet serious professor. I have never had anyone care so much about teaching as he has. He will ask a lot from the students but he will give you a lot in return. Each day he assigns homework (only collects 4), but he always asks class if they have questions on it the next class period. Very fair, but fast towards the end!
Great professor!!! The class is challenging(its calc) but he goes into great detail and consistently refers back to the class to ask if they're lost. He comes off rude in the beginning but after the final drop date he's super sweet. He wants the people in his class serious about the course(also he has great sesame street impers's.).
Not too hard of a class if you do the hw and review old quizes for exams but if you dont his red pen will bleed on your paper! He really cares about his students and says to call him whenever you have trouble with the hw. Very animated professor who will make calc as fun as it can be and will straight tell you if the classes faces are concave down
There is absolutely zero structure to his class. I've asked him for due dates and specific deadlines and he'll respond with he "doesn't know" for something we're working on that week. He really does seem like a caring professor but unless you have quite literally nothing else going on in your life than this class, you can't plan ahead your schedule
I failed every math class until I met him. Truly cares about students & makes himself available eve/weekends (is like having a personal tutor) doesn't collect every assignment but your learning truly depends on YOU doing ALL the work (Easy A if you do)Math is all about practice so if you don't have 1-2 hrs to do homework forget it. Not tech savvy.
The best math teacher that I have ever had. He is willing to explain anything you don't understand. Genuinely wants students to succeed. Passionate about math and inspiring. If you work hard and participate, you will pass. Available to help 24/7. No question is a stupid question. Funny, too. Offers lots of bonus points.
He is so sweet & caring toward all students. Really wants everyone to succeed and always asks if we are lost. He does teach a little fast sometimes, but as long as you dedicate time for homework, you will perform very very well! I love his focus on the basics & the proofs behind each concept. Truly helps you understand. Plenty of extra credit also!
Professor Lowenkron was a great professor. He teaches fast but that's better than a professor who teaches slow. He puts lots of emphasis on the things you need to remember. He sounds a little passive aggressive but don't take it to heart. He does a great job at explaining the "why" behind things. Highly recommend him and wish he taught math141
Professor Lowenkron really wants to help his student succeed in his class. As long as do and understand all the homework, the class will be much easier. He will drop the lowest exam and quiz from your grade, gives extra credit too. He will also talk about any previous algebra or trig that you are expected to know. I recommend you to take his class.
He's not the most sensitive person, but he knows what he's talking about. He gives you a fair warning before a test and drops your lowest grade but don't let that fool you. There isn't much graded so anything can drop your grade. He teaches fast and gives a lot of suggested HW, but will go over questions you have. Do ALL of it if you want to pass.
I have a lot of respect for Lowenkron. He is always available and will spend as much time as you need to understand a topic. There are no surprises, he tells you what you need to know when you need to know it and then grades accordingly. If you’re in school to learn, and you are, then take his class.
Pros: printable papers of his lectures, lectures topic & questions were explained well enough for everyone to understand. Mixed: large amount of optional HW, printed lectures maybe unreadable to some people. Cons: need to write all steps to get to an answer of a question for full points, sometimes goes over scheduled time.
He is one of the only teachers to ever make me feel like I learned the material bc of the way he teaches. He always kept the class engaged and at the end of the class a few students and I felt the need to show our gratitude so we draw on the board asking him if he could hug him at the end of the final. We hope we gave him the motivation to continue
He tries to aggressively encourage participation when nobody asks questions but unintentionally dissuades it by virtue of his frequent yelling and tone of voice. Pretty funny though
He is an amazing professor when it comes to teaching. However, he isn't tech savvy at all and does all his teaching on a whiteboard and all his grading on paper with little to do on canvas. He is great at teaching and makes the content easy to understand, and is available to email 24/7 which is super nice.
I took his class a year ago and it was definitely not an easy class. I spent a long time studying every night and I got a B on most exams. However, he offers extra credit on every exam that I can remember. One test saved me because I got a 130% on it, and it brought my grade up. He's entertaining and gets loud sometimes to keep you engaged.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER !
this professor often goes over the class time. he explains things well and in detail. not much homework, but a lot of pressure when there is homework. tests are somewhat hard but he gives a lot of extra credit on them. study well and you will do well. goes on tangents often and yells sometimes, but he's overall pretty okay.
He starts his class by asking his students what they had trouble with in the homework and explaining those problems on the board. When I asked for an appointment because I was struggling with some concepts, he volunteered his time on weekend nights just to help me out. Prof. Lowenkron is amazing and dedicated to his students.
Prof Lowenkron opens his classes by asking students which problems they had trouble with, and explaining them on the board. He stays after class to ask students if they need help, and when I asked for an appointment to work on some problems I was struggling with, he offered up his free time on weekend nights just to help me out.
This class required math 11 (a support class) which adds another day. Teacher genuinely wanted to help you. He's always open to questions. You didn't have to turn in most of the homework it was just practice to be review the next class time. There were only like 3 where you had to turn it in for points and he would let you know a head of time.
He's a really funny professor but when I took him for Calc 1. His explanations aren't mostly clarified. Most of his exams aren't in the material. He does give extra credit and drops the lowest test score. Don't take him for Calc 1. If you want more better clarification and specific steps for exams. Go take someone else and don't take him.
Teacher was very mean. Creates a toxic environment in the class
Pros: Passionate about the subject cares about class, understanding and cares more about effort than perfection. Tons of extra credit during the final 2 exams Cons: didn't finish all the material (didn't go over inverse trig stuff and barely covered natural exponent) . No clear exam/quiz due dates ahead of time, only a week or two to prepare.
Prof Lowenkron is dedicated to helping students succeed. He breaks down concepts thoroughly and is always available for extra help, even on weekends. With consistent effort and tools like unstuck ai, I found this class manageable despite the fast pace.
