Not the best professor I've ever had. He teaches a 3000 level course as if it were a graduate course. He gives weekly quizzes that most people end up failing. I'm a senior, and I had a 4.0 psychology GPA until I took this class...Basically, it's a harder class than it needs to be.
Funny guy. He knows what he's talking about. Not boring at all. His tests go by his notes, so you have to go to class. Have extra credit. I would recommend him for psych major.
Good Teacher!. Fairly easy class. Has 6 easy quizzes and you can drop 2. That's 50% of your entire grade!!!. The other 50 is from the average of midterm and final. If you dont like reading textbooks, this class is for you. You'll get an A if you read your notes.
He's My Boss and hes a great teacher Knows his stuff I recommend this class to anyone who seriously wants to know about Behavior Analysis
Not the easiest class but certainly interesting & challenging. Great professor! Going to class is a must but it's well worth it. I would recommend his class but only for those who are willing to put in the effort.

Very interesting and intelligent professor with great stories. Grades are based on 4-of-6 quizes, a midterm and final. Tests can be a little tricky for some but material is 95% from lecture, so you should go to class.
He is an amazing teacher. Very enthusiastic about his job and if you really want to lear about behavior modification I suggest you take him. He has six quizzes and 2 exams, but the clarity of his lectures are amazingly clear so the tests and quizzes become very easy if you just study from the notes. He is very good, it's all I have to say.
If you can memorize definitions, he's your man. I personally thought the quizes were hard (50% of the grade) but thats only because i'm not good at memorizing things word for word. the tests (2 of them, midterm and final) were multiple choice and not that bad.
was one of the best professors i've ever had and that i learned the most from. the quiz's are not that difficult as long as you understand the concepts, you don't have to know them word by word. he uses stories that help you understand the concepts, however he is very difficult and if you miss something you cannot make it up easily. go to class.
He is an excellent teacher. However, he teaches too little. In a 2&1/2 hrs class, he teaches only for 1&1/4 hrs and that too, actual teaching is just 45-50 minutes on an average. I am actually disappointed as the textbook has so many concepts that are not easy to understand but he doesn't go over them. If you are serious, I will not recommend him
He is a very good professor, but his classes are challenging. The quizes are harder than the test, but you'll eventually get used to them. Don't miss class because the only way to get notes is to listen to him speak. I would recommend him if you are willing to work. The textbook is difficult and null, but this is a class where you can learn lot
This class is a waste. He doesnt teach much. keeps the class happy by entertaining them with his funny examples(which is a good way to teach). But the amount he teaches is not good enough. he only teaches for 30-40 mts in a 2&1/2 hr class and gets away with it! tests are simple cos they are based on what he says in class which is not much!
He is very challenging. His quizzes and test were very tricky for me. I didn't do good on the quiz or the test. I wouldn't reccommend him.
BEST prof. ever!Makes the classs interesting and the examples help a lot.He is very knowledgeable and the way he explains makes the book readings easier to understand. The quizzes are not easy and you do have to study. If your lazy you'll find them hard, and the exams (a midterm and final)are the quizzes put together. Strongly recommend him.
The guy is awesome. If you want to LEARN, then this is the professor to choose. Be warned, he is not easy. His quizzes are much harder than any other psych class you'd take at this school. He is entertaining, down to Earth, and knows his stuff. Best Psych class I've taken, and I've taken them all.
He makes his class extremely difficult to pass! A True ****!
Can't remember a better professor. Brilliant in the area of behavioral analysis. I took him for my senior lab and lecture over the summer and never missed a class. Hilarious and kept class interesting. Explains concepts with clear cut examples. If you are willing to study hard this class if well worth it!
While it's true his class is very challenging, it's quite possible to get an A. All of his tests are fair, and there;s never anything unexpected on them. He's extremely knowledgeable and makes class fun and interesting. He teaches very well! If you take good notes and read before class, you'll do very well!
This guy thinks he's a lot nicer/cooler/funnier than he actually is. Must attend class, take good notes and memorize them verbatim so you can spit them back up on the quizzes, which aren't hard if you memorize the notes. Midterm and final aren't too bad. But all he wants is to go home, squishing 2.5 hours into 40 minutes each class. Not enough.
Whole grade is the paper, a group experiment with about 7 people per group. He does this so you can "learn to work with turkeys", but pray for decent people. If you don't and you're smart, have fun doing it by yourself. He'll revise drafts, but he's not very helpful. Doesn't really critique, just corrects, which is not as helpful as he thinks it is
don't take this class for an easy A, but it is possible if you work for it. Lubin is an interesting teacher, the tests aren't bad, the quizes are hellish but not impossible. if you're interested in really learning about this stuff and not forgetting it the minute after you take the final then take this class.
class is not easy but it is possible to pass...be prepared to study...hard class
Although he is not the easist teacher, you definetely learn from him. If you go to class and pay attention and read the chapters you will be fine. He is very interesting and has extreme experience in the field! I would take him again even though I did not get the letter grade I would have liked, I left with a lot more knowledge of the field!
5 Quizzes (Lowest 2 are dropped), Midterm, & Final. The quizzes come mainly from the notes as well as the midterm. The final is the most difficult. He's a great prof., very quick & to the point in his lectures. I'd recommend typing since he lectures fast & recording his lectures if possible. You're graded on a group paper in the other class.
The quizzes are extremely hard, they are fill in the blank. You have to know exactly what your talking about, he deducts points for psycho-bable. You really have to like the behaviorist point of view to do well in the class. If your humanistic, do not, I repeat DO NOT take a class with this man. He is very nice and funny, just very difficult.
He is a really hard teacher, but knows what he is talking about and is willing to answer questions. He speaks really fast so you have to pay attention. Attendance is not mandatory, but is HIGHLY recommended because what he says in class is what is going to be in the quizzes. The quizzes are hard and the final is a killer.
Awesome teacher; you WILL learn a lot. Attendance is not mandatory but NECESSARY in order to pass the quizzes. The final is def. a killer-brings in info from the text (all quizzes are mostly from lectures). Good notes are a must-have! Need to read the book... AMAZING teacher. HIGHLY recommended. Preps for cert. exam in ABA.
his grading policy is not clear and he determines what grade you will earn while grading exam and if question your grade, he deducts points from next exam to make a clear point that as a student you must comply to whatever nonsense he brings...lectures from memory and doesnt use class textbook at all. terminology made up by him. rude and obnoxious
Easy but he is full of himself, tries hard to get you to believe its a hard class.Book is useless until the final in which most of the test is from it. He curves but if he messes up a problem he wont give it to you. Quizes come straight from his notes dont read the book. He failed his wife so that she can take the class over with him. Just a pig!
Attendance not mandatory, but recommended. Professor makes tough book understandable. Worth taking! Short answer quizzes- taken from his notes. Mid term and Final from both notes and books. Tape recorder a must, and take notes from book for exams! If you like EAB, you'll appreciate this class! Awesome teacher!! Recommend, and be ready to study.
Professor is great; he is full of himself but he tries to get everyone to learn and understand. Be prepared to memorize key points in lecture, as they will be on the quizzes....read the book after the class, i know he says before, but if you read it before you may get more confused! Book highly used for the final....BE PREPARED TO STUDY!!!
There are 5 quizes (3 count), mid-term & Final. Quiz 1: EASY (it's review from eab3002), Quiz 2 & 3 is okay, Quiz 4 & 5 EASY. BUY A VOICE RECORDER, He talks fast. For the quizes & mid-term, use only your notes to study. The final is hard, so if you did bad on the quizes & mid-term, the final won't help your GPA. Professor is a GREAT teacher.
Finally a great professor at FIU. He is logical, and knows the subject very well. Overall, he does a great job getting the message across. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is essential to getting an A in the class. If you actually want to learn about behavior, and the study of it, take this course.
Nice professor but even though his quizzes are easy his exams can be hard. His quizzes come straight from the class notes but the exams are mostly from the book which is unbearable to read.
Horrible teacher!!!! He goes way too fast with the notes. Quizzes are questions from his notes...must answer how he wants you to. Two tests that are very hard. No review...you must learn everything in the notes and the book. Worst teacher ever. The lab class was easier because its one project you work with a group. We got an A can't complain.
I agree w/ the person below me. He speaks super fast, give NO review (you need to ask him questions)he knows A LOT but his explanations are unclear and makes easy material super HARD. The class is not hard but he enjoys making it a nightmare. 5 quize's drops 2 lowest, a midterm (hard)& a final(harder).Tape rec is a MUST.
5 quize's drops the 2 lowest a midterm&final. The quizes contist of 4 questions, NO MULTIPLE CHOICE. If you write the general idea and not word by word of what he or the book said he'll give you 0! He expects student to wirte WORD BY WORD the answers and is very unlikely to receive partial credit at least for having the motivation to write! Got a C
5 quizes a midterm & a final (both super HARD)his quizes consist in 4 questions (not multiple choice) if you dont wirte WROD BY WORD of what he or the book said you'll get 0 pts.He knows a lot but his explanations are unclear and confusing. this is not a hard class but he enjoy making it a nightmare! He speaks super FAST!!
He knows A LOT about ABA but let me tell you that's not enough to know how to explain. He would turn easy material into the most confusing and hard definitions. If you just get the idea and learn the material but don't write it WORD BY WORD from how he said it he'll give you ZERO! He expects us to MEMORIZE the book plus notes which are unreadable!
It is obvious that the next 6 comments are from the same person and they obviously did not do well in his class. Well some people just aren't willing to study hard and win. And some people maybe choose a profession that intellectually is just beyond their capabilities
I received a 0 for my first quiz, which was fill in the blank. He expects his students to read and memorize every single word in the book and lectures. No review is given, or recomendations as to what may be on the quizzes or exams. His strategy is to have his students well prepared, but does not keep in mind how a poor grade can affect grad school
This has to be the worst teacher I have come across. This man can care less about teaching and even less about the grade you since he said it in class. The tests are hard the quizzes are fill in the blank and even if you ask for help he will tell you the rest of the class did well so thanks but maybe this teacher should look into a different career
the subject alone is dreadfully boring and having the terrible prof isnt much help yes he knows his stuff but that doesnt mean he knows how to teach i studied my butt of and i still failed. he lectures the entire time no powerpoints nothing by the end of the semester almost everyone was recording his classes save your money do not take him
Professor Lubin is extremely passionate about his work. He is caring, helpful, responds to e-mails/concerns quickly and he wants you to be successful in his class. With his help, you will definitely learn to think more like a scientist. If Behavior Analysis is not your thing, don't take the course. It's not advised.
This guy! He has no grading rubric and his tests are impossible even if you know the material!!!
IF you want to be a Behavior Analyst and want to go to graduate school you should take this class. Lubin is one of the mos knowledgable people in the field. He will not spoonfeed you. His quizzes are all written and his exams are difficult. The group paper is also difficult. If you're not interest in EAB/ABA don't take it
Dr. Lubin is a genius. He is so knowledgeable about Behavior Analysis, and it's a pleasure learning from him. A word of advice, record his lectures, take good notes, and go to class. He has 5 quizzes and drops two of them. A midterm and a final. There is also a group project. He is one of the smartest guys I've met.
Professor Lubin is very knowledgeable in the field of behavior analysis and if you plan on going to grad school then I would highly recommend taking his courses. He is not an easy professor by any means but his class challenges you to better grasp the terminology. He is without a doubt one of the best Psych professors I've ever had.
I really don't understand why there are people rating him as a great professor. Yes, he knows his stuff but he is super cocky and you will get tired of student's kissing his a** and inflating his ego. He makes the class more difficult than it has to be. You have no other choice than to take his class because no other professor teaches this course.
Tough teacher, but he knows his stuff. He doesn't give any powerpoints or notes, his lectures are based on the course readings but his own interpretation on them. Take good notes or record his lectures, , it helps a lot when studying for his quizzes and tests. He's a nice guy, but he makes you work to earn your grade.
For the love of god do not take this professor, it is impossible to do well on his quizzes since he expects you to write everything word for word;Know the general concept? not good enough, 0 points.
The key to this class is going every day, writing down EVERYTHING he says, and also recording his lectures. He gives 6 short answer quizzes and drops the lowest two, as well as a midterm and final. No extra credit. He is funny, helpful and has some pretty cool stories. If you wanna skip class, choose someone else. Otherwise, he's awesome
I like Prof. Lubin because he knows a lot, but does not consider that some students are not in the fields yet and it is hard for us to follow his logic or his method, also he does expect from you that you follow the scientific path so it is hard class, I did study a lot for his quiz and for the test and I did not get a good grade, I gave my best.
Prof. Lubin is a good professor. He knows what he is teaching, and makes class interesting. YOU HAVE TO STUDY, READ, AND MEMORIZE for the Quizzes. Take good notes, record the lectures and do not miss class. Also, READ THE BOOK, especially for the FINAL EXAM which is based almost from the book. Not an easy class, but it's not the worst.
Very smart guy, and kinda funny in a geeky way. This class is hard, but not impossible. Memorize literally everything he says and you'll pass the quizzes. Study both the lectures and books for the exam. He is a tough grader, but if you want to be in the field, this class will teach you a lot. Definitely not a class you wanna skip.
While his Single case class is difficult, his senior seminar in behavior analysis is cake. All you have to do is make sure you follow the guidelines he provides (very specific and difficult to mess up), show up to class on time, and work on your paper with your group (hopefully you have a good one) and you'll be set.
I was so scared to take him because of all the comments people made about him. But, AS LONG AS YOUGO TO THE LECTURES AND TAKE NOTES, is a SUPER easy A. Just show up! and listen.
Horrible PROFESSOR !!!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM !!!!!!!
So much material for 4 question in every quiz. This class is unfair. If you dont write things the way he states them word by word then your answer is marked wrong. Please do not take!!!
I wish he didnt make his class based on only quizzes and exam. At least one project/ research paper!!! Anything to help us students who suffer from testing anxiety. I try my hardest. But my anxiety got in the way.
If you are passionate about behavior analysis you would love this class, it's true you have to memorize all the material and final exam was hard in my opinion but its worth it. Professor Lubin's lectures are amazing, do not skip the book. If you want to really learn cool stuff about behavior analysis, take him. Quizzes are every 2w, hard, recall.
Great professor! This is a hard class so don't expect an easy A. Six quizzes (he drops 2) and 2 exams. The quizzes are 50% and are hard, it's so much content for only 4 questions. The two exams (Midterm and Final) are difficult you do have to study and read the book to get a decent grade. I recommend recording the lectures.
We haven't received our grades yet. This is the worst professor. Completely useless and you'll learn absolutely nothing from him. You teach yourself with your group on this one. Get a good group. He doesn't care to ever show up to class and you'll only be able to speak to him at his availability, forget your scheduled class time. They need new profs
Does he know what he is talking about? Absolutely. Should you take him? I wish I didn't. Smart man but he is tough. I think he makes the class too hard for the amount of prior information we have on research in behavior analysis. His quizzes are HARDD. Pray that the stars align for you, all this class did was drop my GPA. Good Luck:(
Worst professor Ive ever taken at FIU literally A NIGHTMARE! You have to record his lectures because youll miss so much. Only 4 question quizzes? So ridiculous. Midterm is based on lectures but then he decides to base the final off the book. Its not fair. He doesnt care about his students. At all. If you dont have to, do not take him. EVER!
Swears he wants to educate his students to make the next BCaBA's and BCBA's smart but all he does is lecture heavy and not review his exams. exams are easier than the quizzes and you will have to argue with him as to why he deducted points from your CORRECT responses. Messy lectures as well, can't finish an important sentence and gets distracted
The course material is heavy and consists of 6 quizzes with a midterm and a final. There are no extra credits but he drops the two lowest quizzes. Make sure to record his lecture you will probably miss some information. The class is time-consuming so do not take if you are not ready to attend, read the book, and be listening to the lectures.
Even during COVID-19, he was not helpful or understanding. He's knowledgable but not the best teacher. 6 (hard) full-response quizzes (which he grades very specifically), 1 midterm & 1 final (no study guide given for either). YOU MUST READ BOTH BOOKS AND WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING HE LECTURES OR YOU WILL NOT PASS! If you can, do not take him! PLEASE!
If youre planning to take him during the pandemic, DO NOT. He is not flexible at all. He does not upload recorded lectures so you HAVE to attend the zoom meetings even if they are are inconvenient times. He almost never responds to emails which is annoying since you have to email him for everything because he does not upload anything on canvas.
he knows his stuff yes but doesn't care to help students be successful in his course. get ready to read and hope for the best. no study guides. quizzes are fill in the blank and are HARD.
I hate leaving a bad review but honestly this class was so challenging even more when you don't know what expect on exams and if you ask anything we would get rude response. read the book word for word and write down everything he says because theres no study guide and he isn't helpful. teach yourself.
During COVID-19 was an awful experience, uses honorlock which is ok but if you happen to be at work during the time of an exam. it makes it hard because he does not let you take retake it not even the day before. Not caring at all for his students especially when we are all trying to adjust to online learning. no notes or pp, read book! never again
theres difference because a good professor who knows their material and cares for his students to succeed in his or her course and theres a professor who just knows the material... yea hes the second one. Smart man but doesnt care to give you to the tools to succeed. Doesnt even give powerpoints during his lectures. dont recommend
during a pandemic was awful. I work at the hospital so I was placed on extra shifts. I asked if I could take the exams the day before or anything Did not work with me. Even more annoying he uses honorlock so you cant take exams anywhere. If not it wouldnt have been an issue. I never meet a professor who literally doesnt not care to help you.
during remote online, quizzes are fill in the blank and you don't even get to see your results as to why you got your grade. As a student you want to see what you did wrong/right. horrible professor who does not care at all for this students. Sure he knows his stuff but he is not considerate or caring enough to be teaching.
smart man but does not have the qualities to be teaching. he does not care for his students nor will help you to be successful in his course. doesn't even make powerpoints or give you notes to follow with his lectures. On his quizzes you can put word for word what he said during lecture and still wont get an A.
His grading is NONSENSE! quizzes are fill In the blank you could have written the right answers but if you don't right word for word what he wants he wont give you credit. basically you need to know everything for his class. save ur money and GPA.
his class would not be so bad if the grading for the quizzes was fair. He expects you to memorize word for word if not you wont be given full credit, even if what you wrote is correct (in your own words). Does not give powerpoints to lectures or reviews. Does not care to help students.
I had people in my class who were retaking this course because they didn't do good the first time with this same professor. his class needs to change and if you give sugesstions on what he can do to help he doesn't want to hear it. just expects to be a book and memorize word for word. quizzes 25% final/mid 75%
We're in a pandemic with poorly delivered online classes no compassion to be teaching we are all adjusting. he should at least provide notes or clear grading on exams bc he grades unfairly even if you have the right answer. he basically gives you whatever grade he feels like if he likes what you wrote. stay away and save your money
he is knowledge in his field but should not be teaching, doesn't have the qualities to teach. he is not willing to help his students and makes passing his class extremely difficult. Quizzes are fill in the blank. I am a A student and I don't recommend him as a professor. This class was HARD.
please do not take this professor, I messed up my gpa because of him. It was the first time I had to drop and retake a course ever. Take another professor who can teach and his caring to help you pass his course.
is he smart and knows his stuff? Absolutely but all this class did was drop my GPA. stay away. no power-points or notes given... not even during a pandemic! if yo'ure okay riding it out and hope for at least a C take him but highly recommend to take another professor for this course. read the book and memorize everything word for word.
He does not record lectures and his exams are only open at the same time he gives lectures; ALL PROFESSORS OPEN EXAMS FOR A DAY FOR YOU TO COMPLETE WHEN CONVENIENT DURING THAT WINDOW. I work with customers so it was impossible for me to complete exams at work. I emailed him explaining my situation and he refused to help; he is not flexible at all.
He will spend the entire lecture on one topic and then you dont be tested on it. Grading for quizzes is unclear, unfair, and essay format. Some students will have put the same exact answers and received different grades. This is the first class I have every felt the need to drop or struggled with, i'm a senior. He does not care to offer help.
you can write word for word what he said in class or in the book but in the end he will grade you however he wants in his quizzes. Quizzes are HARDER than it needs to be. Test are multiple choice. don't expect an A in this class... maybe be B if you're lucky with his grading. No extra credit. take another professor for this course.
Class consists of one big paper that you must complete throughout the entirety of the semester in a group. You only meet with the professor if you have something to review, however, good luck getting a hold of him or having him remember you even scheduled a meeting. When he does answer he is crude and cold. Also doesn't grade until the last day.
Best Professor for EAB and ABA in general in the entire Florida. All the people that rated negative STOP COMPLAINING because you have these classes to pass the board and not to get an easy A. yes he is very tough and hard but you learn everything you need to be a successful analyst in this field. stop going to ABA ESPAña and actually learn science.
LEARN EVERYTHING HE SAYS BY MEMORY. he is the real deal in EAB and ABA. he is the Gandalf of Behavior. should be the director of ABA in FIU. he is amazing and has an abundant knowledge if you want to pass the exam to become a BCaBA/BCBA. Quizes are written answers and you can not cheat in this class. so STUDY a lot AND STOP WHINING. LOT Of MEMORY
Honestly, the people that say stop complaining are the problem. He is incredibly rude and inconsiderate to his students. Give short answer quizzes that you have to know his lectures word for word but wont give out the zoom recordings or even notes. Wont grade on time and is a disaster himself. I would recommend anyone but him honestly.
If you're interested in the EAB field and ABA, then take Lubin. I learned more in this one semester with him than throughout all the other EAB classes at FIU. This is not an easy A, you need to show up to all of his lectures and take notes. He makes the class requirements clear from the beginning. If you slack off and whine, its on you not Lubin.
Truth is this class was a lot easier than expected. Graded by just the paper, presentation and journal. No deadlines other than at the end of the semester. Great feedback for every section of the paper. My group split the 3 parts between us, which made the process CAKE. Just get to the presentation early and get an A!
Dr. Lubin is incredibly insightful and knowledgeable in the field of ABA. The class is not easy whatsoever, but I learned so much. His quizzes are written responses and his tests are multiple choice and neither are easy. You have to read the book every day before class and his lectures will supplement that information. Take detailed notes to pass.
For the love of everything that is good in this world don't do this to yourself. I would rather gargle hot turds than take him again.
Let me start by saying if you need to take this class and this professor is the only one available DO NOT. Loves to complicate definitions and over explain which leads to CONFUSION. His quizzes are short. No assignments or extra credit. Hates when you ask questions and belittles your knowledge.
Absolutely a joke of a professor. If you don't understand the material the first time you're pretty much done for. He doesn't give extra credit or second chances. You aren't allowed to look at your quizzes after you take them, and he doesn't discuss them at all and doesn't seem interested in knowing what his students' grades are.
-He gives no study guides so you never really know what is going to be on the quizzes, it also does not help that most of the quizzes (if not all) where only about 12 questions long and covered up to 3 chapters. -He gives no classwork or homework so you have no way of padding out your grade if you are doing bad in it.
Look, unless you don't have any other obligations in your life and you can dedicate ALL your time to this class, don't take it. He is lecture-heavy. He does NOT give homework or extra credit. He does NOT give back quiz answers. You will be entirely on your own when learning in this class. Save yourself the trouble and just wait a semester, please.
It is not that bad. He looks intimidating, but if you do not understand something JUST EMAIL AND ASK HIM. He cares to the extent that you do. Just reach out. He is lecture-heavy pay attention to the lectures, and take notes. Make sure to understand the info. 2 exams and 4 quizzes. He does curve. He is NICE he just wants to see that you care.
He only gives test and quizzes so it is difficult to balance your grade not to mention how hard his quizzes and tests are. By midterms more than half the class had dropped due to the fact their grades were so low. Over-all if you have to take this class, save yourself the time and mental sanity by getting a different professor.
So many people are scared of Lubin, but he is an incredible professor. If you take him, take notes on his lectures and ask questions. He is incredibly kind and will dedicate time to you if you reach out for help. If you are serious about ABA, you will love this class!
I must say I was absolutely terrified to take Dr. Lubin especially in my last semester as a 4.0 student. With that being said, I absolutely loved his class and wish that I took all of my behavior analysis course sequence with him. Yes, it was hard, but I studied, recorded the lectures, read, asked questions and passed with an A.
