Very great professor! Always friendly and welcoming. Good since of humor. Had fun and learned. Can be boring but very easy!
Very fair and willing to help
Dr Lydic is not an easy class, but he's an excellent teacher. He's really tough on attendance, but if you pay attention in his class, he will help your writing skills sufficiently. He's one of the best English teachers I've had, and for people who don't mi
teacher tried to make it interesting. really enjoys discussing lit. was fairly clear and willing to work with you if you had to miss a class. be on time and BE THERE!
he was very helpful and even though he had difficult deadlines i really liked his class
Very nice personality and easy going
He is a very helpful professor. His class was not easy but not that hard either. Attendance is required
Dr. Lydic has a way with words which connect the literature to real life situations. He is really good at getting the student to grasp the meaning of literature, which goes much beyond the depth of words. He focuses a lot on poetry, and readings which deal with deep interpersonal relationships amongst two people. He's nice and I enjoyed his class.
I took american lit 2. The only reason I got a C was because I was lazy. His class is fairly easy. Just go to class, and buy the damn book. You will do fine, unless you are an idiot. He is a very smart guy. DONT TAKE IF YOU DONT HAVE PREREQUISITES. HE CHECKS AND WILL KICK YOU OUT. OUCH, its humiliating. I saw it happen.
Very helpful, great assignments
Great teacher. Clear on his expectations and very helpful critique on papers. Take his class; he's the best prof I have this semester. Very nice, but won't go easy on you.
Dr. Lydic is a good teacher. His lectures are clear, concise, and fun. Try not to miss his class, or procrastinate, and you will do just fine. Additionally, read the assigned short stories and it will lighten your load significantly at the end of the semester. He can grade tough at times, but he's available to help you and wants you to succeed.
Wonderful professor. Always there to help and easy to understand.
This teacher is very educated and knows a lot about literature. It appears that he enjoys literature very much. But the biggest problem is that he sterilizes literature too much. I always thought one the greatest things about the arts is that it is open to interpretation, but this teacher strongly believes in there being one, and only one truth.
Was fair and kept the class interesting with class discussions.
Dr. Lydic is a consummate professional with an easy air. His Southern Texas upbringing presents itself as a certain charm and he is thoroughly knowledgeable. The rubric can seem a bit confusing, so READ the SYLLABUS and the SHORT STORIES to do well. Also, attend class! Dr Lydic offers illuminating commentary on all assigned papers. GREAT!
very good keeps you intrested in the subject. and always there to help when needed
Awesome teacher makes everything clear to understand, wasnt very good at writing essays when I started his class, now I have noticed the progress in my writing. Good professor overall
Dr. Lydic is AWESOME! I took comp2 with him this spring, and I can tell you that i do not regreat it. Dr. Lydic was recomended to me and I recomend him.
Great professor. Highly recommended . Very helpful
awesome teacher. entertaining and intelligent.
He is an amazing professor. I'm not the greatest with Lit classes, but he makes it extremely interesting. He's funny, too :) . He is very helpful. He gives out a lot of handouts to help with papers etc. There is homework for every class, but it's painless. Best English professor I've had at ACC.
He is by far the worst teacher i have ever had at ACC. Never take him
Wonderful teacher. He has a dry sense of humor, but is a lot of fun. He expects a lot, but his lectures are great, and he really cares about helping if you care about learning.
I enjoyed his class very much, always helpful and never kept you in the dark about any assignments. He will always reiterate what is due. His syllabus is clear and sticks to it. Use your handouts that he gives, they're extremely helpful for papers if you're not the 'ask questions' type.
Great, intelligent and interesting professor. He sticks to the syllabus, and if you have trouble in his class it's your own fault. He won't let you fail if you'll try and listen. I'll be in his class whenever I can.
Terrific professor. Very clear syllabus, and progressive writing assignments have helped developed my writing. Friendly, has a dry sense of humor and is easy going. I definitely recommend him.
David is a teacher's teacher - great demeanor; clear and straightforward expectations; wonderful class discussions. Be prepared to learn a lot and write a lot. If you keep your mind open, there is much to absorb. No free rides - attendance required. Diverse teaching style helps all skill levels improve. "It's in the syllabus!"
Dr. Lydic is one of the best professors ACC has to offer. I took him Comp 2 under recommendation of other students and professors and while I worked my butt off, it was worth it. Sought him out again for American Lit 2 and loved it as well. He's a lot of fun and loves to teach. Lazy students need not bother with his class!!!
Very clear in instructions. Fair but strict in grading papers. Has papers graded by the next class. You can tell he really cares about his students. Be ready to attend class. It's required and he is serious about it. Pay attention to the syllabus.
David gives clear instructions and useful assignments. Read his handouts. As other students have commented, they will help you. I enjoyed this class so much more than I thought I would. I even read more on my own as a result of David's discussions and his passion. And just a cute man!
I love reading and Dr. Lydic has done nothing but fuel that fire.
Liked him so much ive taken him for comp 1, 2, and american lit 1(all the classes he offers.) Lydic is fair and highly intelligent and leaves no questions unanswered about his subject, or on how to get a good grade. I highly recommend any of his classes.
What an amazing man! He is so helpful and wants you to succeed! He has made it fun and challenging at the same time. He has really inspired me with my reading and I look forward to taking his American Lit class next semester. His class is lots of work, but so worth it!
ACC is lucky to have a professor like him. He is an amazing individual whose greatest talent is his gift for teaching. He is so smart and he brings this out in every one of his students. The discussions are enlightening! You leave his class felling energized and uplifted! He?s amazing, simply amazing!
This is one of the best professors that I've ever had. His class was interesting and he REALLY knows how to teach the subject well. His expectations are high. Work hard and you should do well. He is very strict on grammar and punctuation, but that should be a given at this point in the game. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Just finishing up American Lit, and I've had the best time this semester. I've taken both his comp 2, and Amer. Lit classes, and I've not been disappointed. His class is a lot of work, but the assignments are fun, and the class discussions are very interesting. Take him!! He should be at a major university!! He's amazing!!
Wow he really makes you work to get a good grade, but he is happy to help you succeed. He makes the class very enjoyable and interesting. A ton of work for an A.
He taught me how to write and showed me that I have my own personal style. It was difficult to get the A, but so very worth it. If you take Lydic, pay attention to the syllabus and read the chapters on time. He is an intellectual professor that is worth your tuition payment.
Mr. Lydic has a gentle tone when teaching, and is stern with papers and grading. He is a very good professor. He makes sure you do your best on each paper. The papers seems demanding at first, but he makes it as easy as possible.
If you are looking for a easy class DO NOT TAKE THIS. The "C" test is crazy. I wrote a 6 page paper, hand written which was expected to have zero spelling mistakes or you would have to rewrite the test. He repeats the same stuff over and over in class and is a super hard grader. Unless you are an English major steer clear of this class.
He is a wonderful professor who wants you really understand what he is teaching you. That being said, this class is by no means an easy A. Attendance policy is very strict (miss 4 classes and your grade begins to go down a full letter each day) and he grades with an iron fist. But even though he is kind of a hard ass, I really enjoyed his class
Awesome professor. Very witty and interesting. You have to do the work, though. No easy A. He is very invested in his students' success, but he expects you to work for your grade. I took him for comp II as well, and loved both classes. If you don't know how to spell and use correct grammar, don't expect good grades.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He is clear with instruction & wants you to succeed. Go to class, take notes, listen to the lectures, hold on to your syllabus, and don't hesitate to ask questions. He has a sense of humor that I found funny and reminded me that even tough he's a tough grader he is human and just wants you to learn & pass.
Interesting teacher, has a Southern style and humor. Make sure to get the textbook and follow the syllabus!! Gives opportunity to revise but he's one of those teachers that subtracts half a point for anything. Easy class to pass but hard to get a A. Also calls out people in class so attend class!
I highly recommend Dr. David Lydic! Best professor I've had at ACC. He reminded me of how much I love English and reading. He's so intelligent and wants the best for his students. His tough grading taught me SO much about the art of writing. Can't brag about him enough! Attend class, learn proper grammar & spelling, and READ THE SYLLABUS!
Very knowledged teacher... this guy has a P.H.D. in English. I took this class in accelerated so it was 8 weeks long total... bad idea. Due to the strict nature of his grading DO NOT (I repeat DO NOT)take his class if you don't have a full semester. Before you can turn in any new papers the original one has to be proof-read and given back to you.
I really enjoyed Prof. Lydic. He is a fantastic teacher. I have always despised English but he allowed me to learn from my mistakes and correct them. Any student can make the A in the class if they put the effort. I highly recommend him.
He has an odd grading system but you'll get used to it. If you're a good writer, this class is an absolute breeze. If not, you might struggle. Reading quizzes are incredibly easy.
The system was confusing. He doesn't post grades on black board at all. You have to keep up with your grades yourself. The first exam pretty much sets your grade. If you don't do good on the first exam it will be hard to get your grade back up. Quizzes aren't hard. He takes points off the little things. An easy C, but not an easy A. Nice guy though
He leads great discussion-- fun and interesting. Come to class. He is tough about attendance. It can affect your grade.
Dr. Lydic is a great grader. He makes specific comments, always finds something positive to say as well as problems.
Pro's: He's really clear on what he wants. Pretty funny guy. Con's: Every week a paper on a story is due. Each week the criteria for the paper increases... THE PROBLEM is that the way it's structured disregards your time for your other classes. In short, his assignments are clear but take up A LOT of time. Not to mention the weekly quizzes.
I will make an F this semester but it isn't Dr Lydics fault. He has enouraged and reminded me as well as others about what is necessary. I just haven't been keeping up. It is my fault. He is a very good teacher.
Excellent teacher. Well organized, clear, understanding but no pushover.
very good teacher. he helped my alot. The only teacher I have had who is always in his office hours when he says.
David helped me a lot. He was supportive and patient. I couldn't have passed without his help.
Professor Lydic is an incredible professor. He is willing to help as much as you need and his door is always open. I wouldn't recommend skipping class or the readings. His grading system is a bit tough but if you like to write you'll definitely leave having learned how to be a great writer.
Attendance is vital. He will fail you if you miss more than 3 classes. Lectures can drag on sometimes, and he grades papers very hard. Reading quizzes are easy. Not sure I'd recommend.
Attendence is a must in this class. You must read to do well on quizess and tests. Quizess are easy but grades very hard on papers and be prepared for open discussion and participation. He's always available during office hours to answer questions or concerns. I don't reccommend.
Great professor. He gives you all of the information and resources you need to succeed. Amazing class discussions based on the amazing works of literature assigned to read. The class is a lot of reading and work but is easy if you keep up with it. Do not skip class!!
Dr. Lydic works really hard to get papers returned promptly and to make himself available. He seems to know just what we need to know and when. He's awesome.
Dr. Lydic was by far the best professor i have had thus far in my college experience!
Mr. Lydic is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His passion and knowledge are undeniable. He is a bit strict but that only helps you succeed and I feel like that is what I needed vs. having someone that is not passionate and hands out packets. I enjoy listening to his lectures and does not feel like 2 1/2 hour class. I DEFINELTY RECOMMEND.
Long winded, boring lectures. harder/ more complicated than it needs to be. would rather be a stickler than to give his students higher grades. needs to rethink grading method. a lot of work for a low grade You will learn a lot and improve on writing. give good feedback and works hard to be available and to return papers. NOT RECOMENED
Read the stories he wants you to read, and the quizzes will be easy. You can't miss more than a few days. The essays are easy. If you have questions, he will help you. He is a good teacher.
He gives good comments on papers. Very thorough. He cares whether you do well, but you have to work for it.
Great!
Dr. Lydic is an amazing Professor, he truly cares about his students and while you do need to write a lot of papers he is there to help you every step of the way. I would take him again in a heartbeat. Plus he's pretty funny and laid back.
TAKE HIM FOR ENG COMP 2!!!!! I have a friend taking the exact same course taught by a different teacher and she is going through hell compared to Lydic's class. Make sure you read the stories before your (EXTREMELY EASY) reading quizzes, Make sure you stay on time with writing your (EXTREMELY EASY) papers and you will have no trouble.
I enjoyed his class a lot! He gives good feedback on papers, and the reading quizzes are easy. Make sure you write your papers early and stay on track. He's available outside of class as well, and is always willing to discuss papers with students.
Great
tough grader on papers
I feel that sometimes he is too hard, but in all fairness he has made me a better writer. I guess that's what he is supposed to do. I find him a patient and kind man. But he is strict about some things, like cell phones and extra talking in class.
One of the best teachers I have ever had.
I have never gotten better feedback on papers. I learned a lot from David. He is very thorough and hard working.
I remember now what I loved about poetry and fiction. Dr. Lydic has rekindled my love for these. He is also funny in a low key and understated way. He cracks me up.
I never read a novel before this class. David had us read two and I loved it. I plan on reading more now. I didn't know I could like reading until this class.
One of those teachers who makes you work really hard and you get tired of it but at the end of the semester your really glad you did it. You feel like you met a huge challenge. Lydic helped me feel successful.
Dr. Lydic is an amazing English professor. He wants all his students to succeed and make A's, however he will make you work hard for your grade. He has high expectations but he is willing to work with you to get the grade you want. He gave me extra time to turn in my A paper when he didn't have to. He'll make you a better writer if you let him.
Professor Lydic is unfair with grading and what he says goes. He has no grading rubric at all, its do it his way or don't pass. Nearly impossible to make an A the way the deadlines play out and to make an A its 5 paper plus an exit exam plus an A and B paper. You are required to go to class and his class is pretty much him telling random stories.
The class gets extremely challenging mid-semester. I urge you to consider a different Comp. II professor if you are a full time student with other obligations, if this is your only class it should be fine. I'm a hard working A student and I about broke under the pressure of his grading and workload. I'm not fond of his lecturing style either.
He's very funny in a dry way. Read his handouts. Come to class. Keep up with the reading and the papers.
He gives the best grading comments I have ever seen
He has a very clear syllabus. He grades really strict but consistently and fairly. I found his classes pretty fun to go to and I don't like English very much.
He's a great professor, if your'e expecting an easy A please don't take his class. He makes you work for it, but it's totally doable. He really cares about his students and makes himself available to discuss progress. Don't fall back or you won't be able to catch up. Would take again anytime!
Went into this class hating poetry&came out with a newfound love for it. Professor Lydic makes the material he teaches interesting&relevant. Tough grader, but he knows what he's doing&you'll learn from him. Easy A if you show up to class&read for reading quizzes. (Know the author of what you're being quizzed on!) My favorite professor this semester
Prof Lydic was seriously the best. His class isn't easy but you won't regret taking it if you want to become a better writer. Just stay on top of the essays, read the assigned readings, and participate. He really is a sweet and kind man, ask for help before it too late. If not, he won't make an exception for you. Don't take if you're lazy.
My favorite professor I had at ACC. Lydic is very approachable and kind, also pretty funny. You definitely have to work for your grade in this class but I would take him again without hesitation.
Class is very well organized and he gives many opportunities for extra credit. As long as you keep up with the homework, it's fairly easy to get an A. Attendance is mandatory and there is a lot to read, but what can you expect from a lit course? His lectures and discussions are interesting and he really puts effort into his teaching.
I took this class last summer as a 6 week course. While it was difficult because I had to write 8 papers to get an A (including the exit exam) in only 6 weeks, I learned a lot and it was a fun and rewarding class. Lydic is accessible for questions and is kind, I recommend taking a class with him.
Pay attention to how much time you have to submit your papers. Due to arbitrary rules you may find yourself unable to submit all of your papers regardless of whether they're finished. How much he likes you (or how hard he thinks you're trying) is a factor. Based on communication with other classmates he is more lenient with certain individuals.
Keep in mind that most of the 5-star ratings are from former ENGL-1302 students. He spends most of the semester talking at (and sometimes repeating) the class as a whole. There are some opportunities to engage with the rest of the class. He is one of those professors that will make you work for an "A" and it is not technically based on your average
Great comments on papers. Very thorough. He really seems to care if we pass. An older man, but actually very attractive.
I am so glad I chose Dr Lydic for my return to school. He supported and encouraged me and he made me work hard.
I cant believe he gets papers returned so fast
a cool guy
a real mensch
I didn't know I liked literature so much until this class. Lydic makes it relevant and interesting.
I just saw Dr Lydic talking to a student who will fail. He was kind and patient with her. He's amazing.
aawesome
Great Professor, highly recommend. Things he will make you do a lot of: read, write, participate, learn, discern, and show up to class. He gives work from home days at end of semester and to stay on top of and finish the papers. Read before class and talk, he's a great lecturer and encourages socratic teaching methods. Get involved, get an A/B.
Tough grader!!!!
Lydic is a tough grader but a fair one. If you work hard, come to class, and do what he says, you'll pass the class.
Tough grader really strict
He is a really nice professor. He grades hard, but helps students or when we are really confused. Always PAY ATTENTION to the SYLLABUS!!! Hes only going to tell you something once, if you ask him again hell tell you to look in the syllabus. Hes probably one of my favorite professors.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Tough grader, but he wants students to understand the concepts/succeed. A lot of reading so be prepared to discuss and participate in class the following day after readings are assigned. He offers fun extra credit for approved ACC events such as attending poem readings or choral concerts. Great course.
This is not an easy class to get an A in. For an A, you need to write 7 papers and an exit exam. It seems easy until the last few weeks of the semester when you realise how little time you really have left. Love how he lets you re write your papers to get an A. He is honestly such a nice person and he genuinely cares about his students. Take him!
I am taking Dr. Lydic for American Lit and he is awesome. Yes you have to read, but it is a literature class. He is very nice and happy to help you if you need it. There are a lot of reading quizzes, but overall his class is great and not too hard to get a high B or A.
He is a great teacher, you will learn something. Go to class, do your part and you will do fine. Great feed back. Lets you edit your paper and re-submit.
I took an English Comp class with this professor. The grading system was very difficult. I am an A/4.0 student, or I WAS before taking this class. I did a lot of work and feel that if he graded in a more modern way, I would have received an A.
such a sweet man. I was scared of this class, but it was a great way to start my morning. just do your work, it's not that hard! he loves participation, so that's one way to get on his good side. if you are pressed for money, don't buy the textbooks, all the readings are online :) he emails back right away. he is very passionate about Am Lit!
Mr. Lydic provides a clear grading system and ensures his students are able to achieve their desired grade through productive feedback and clear, concise assignment sheets. Works hard to ensure students understand the material and assigns essays designed to help with the departmental exam.
I had to just drop his class but will take him again. He is caring and works really hard to get his students to pass. I just ran out of time.
Best teacher ever! Lot's of extra credit opportunities were available and he brought out the best in his students. Although there was lots of reading and writing, an A was achievable. He always involved the class and encouraged everyone to try their best. Not to mention he was hilarious and had very clear, informative, and entertaining lectures.
Professor Lydic's summer schedule is very tight; however, though, he allows you to edit your paper as much as you need. NO EXTRA CREDITS for the summer class. Overall, Dr. David Lydic is an outstanding professor! He will understand your situation.
A great teacher but a very hard course. Lydic grades hard but is fair. He will help you get through the class if you work with him.
Dr. Lydic really cares about his students. He takes alot of time grading papers and discussing them with you. If you pay attention and work hard, you will improve your writing.
A really great teacher. If you don't pass, its your fault.
I just finished Lydic's class. I'm so glad I ended up with him this summer.
Lydic works hard to help students. I ran out of time for a higher grade but he was willing to help me as long as I worked at it. His lectures always help us write papers better.
Prof Lydic is a great teacher and just wants you to live up to your potential. He takes the time to get to know his students. He's a quick grader and gives good feedback. He loves to show off the good work his students are completing.
Professor Lydic was by far one of the most amazing professors I have ever had in my collegiate career. I took his summer class which was a pain. Paper due every week along with readings that turn into quizzes. Do your part and I promise you that you will get an A, not an easy A, but an A.
A great teacher
I have gained a much higher appreciation of literature from Dr Lydics class. I am so happy I ended up with him.
So many papers in the class, but it is a writing class. We had alot of dual credit students in my class. they were very immature. Dr. lydic dealt with them patiently. I give him credit for that.
Almost at the end of the semester so ready now to rate my teachers. Dr. Lydic is outstanding in his thorough grading and how much he cares for his students. He manages the class with finesse. He is always conscientious about class preparation. Hes also very funny at times.
He is probably one of the best English teachers i have ever had. Dont expect to just get by and get an A. You have to do better quality papers and more of them in order to get an A.
Dr. Lydic is a well mannered and educated professor that is great at transferring his knowledge to his many students. Often with scheduled quizzes (That are not hard and you WILL get a 100 if you simply understand the assigned readings) and/or activities that involve the entire classroom. Stay on top of the HW, go to class and you'll do great.
Great Professor, will grade tough and make you work for the grade you get. Very clear about his expectations.
He is one of the funniest, most enjoyable teachers I have ever had. He gives great feedback on papers and is always willing to help.
Professor Lydic is super caring and gives extra credit opportunities, which I love. His passion is probably his most lovable quality as a professor, but it is also what makes his class a little harder. Make sure you pay very close attention to his instructions, and proofread/edit all of your work several times before turning in. Loved him overall!
From day one you can tell Dr. Lydic really cares about his students. You have to work for your grade, but he is very accommodating for those who do. Students would stick around after class just to chat with him, he's amazing! Con- had a lot of dual credit kids in my class that were really immature and distracting, so lectures could get repetitive
I would had an A but slacked off and only was able to get the B paper turned in, so he is not at fault. This was hands down the best professor I've had. He wants you to achieve and will take time to thoroughly grade your papers and shape you into a good writer. He is a great public speaker, allowing you grasp and retain the information better most.
I took Lydic after not having been in school for 12 years. I was in rough shape, and he was tough. I REALLY appreciated him, because he got my writing skills back in tip-top form. He's an exceptionally fast grader and always wants you to get an A. As long as you are willing to work for it. I liked his controversial discussion topics.
TAKE HIS CLASS! He is a bit of a tough grader, but he cares for his students success. He gives clear grading criteria for each paper and allows you to rewrite them if necessary (he leaves comments in the margins so you aren't left guessing). He gives extra credit and allows you to work ahead. Super easy A if you put in the work, and it's WORTH IT!
I took 2 of Lydic's classes and can easily say he is one of my favorite professors to date. He takes the time to get to know his students and appreciates participation. READ THE SYLLABUS. LIVE BY THE SYLLABUS. Only complaint is that when classes went online due to COVID, his class completely changed. No more lectures or discussions. Very sad to see
The reviews were really good and thought it was going to be good, had to drop though. You can't write the next essay until you finish the first and if it isn't revised the way he wants it you won't be able to turn it in. Felt like he had something against me also for some emails I sent with questions and was graded poorly because of it as well.
BEST teacher!!! Loved his class ! Now let me be clear, any type of " English Class" YOU ARE GOING TO WRITE PAPERS! In this class, its 7 papers, one of the papers in an annotated bibliography paper ( which was my hardest one) the professor gives GREAT FEEDBACK and lets you revise each paper for 5 points added to grade. Stories to write INTERESTING!!
Professor Lydia is amazing. The papers were very interesting. The hardest one for me personally was the Annotated Bibliography. He provides great feedback on papers. I would definitely take him for ENGL 1302
Professor Lydic is incredible with his feedback. Gradual volume of homework helps you to get into it. Take his class if you want to learn how to write well. If you are thinking of a class to just to pass and get an easy grade, I don't recommend. If you take his class it will help you with the writing in all the other classes for sure...
Dr. Lydic is probably the best professor I've had in my time in college. Easy to contact and responds quickly, has a clear grading criteria that also comes with excellent feedback on assignments to help you improve on each one. The class isn't for slackers, but will help you become better writer if you put in the time.
If you are taking othr classes plus a full time job I would not recommend. He would email me talking to me like a child. I am twenty four I am not. He does give great feedback but very rude. Lots of reading and just difficult to find time.
This class was distanced learning, but I did feel like he was still very involved in everything I was working on. There are 5 papers total, one of them is just an annotated bibliography. There is some reading, but definitely more writing. He's a bit tough with grading, but gives great feedback. Do the paper revisions!
Dr. Lydic was a great teacher. Theres at least 1-2 readings due every week, and the quizzes over them are very straight forward. We have two papers, and we get the chance to correct the first one. He is very clear with his grading policy and doesn't accept late work. If you keep organized and reach out for help you will make an A in this class.
Prof Lydic was by far my favorite English professor, tough grader but has really helped me become a better writer. I highly recommend taking him!!
Dr. Lydic is a great professor! He has a pretty wide variety of readings by authors from different backgrounds, says he's always trying to include more. Quiz &/or responses due every week, 2 papers, 1 final "paper" that's 4, 500-word essays. He's a tough grader, so don't procrastinate them! You're gonna want to make them spick and span for that A
Dr. Lydic is a gift. His discussions are enjoyable, easy to follow, and informative. He's clear about what he wants to see from your papers and his grading system essentially allows you to choose your grade based on the amount and quality of work you're willing to do. I wish he could teach all of my classes. Highly recommend.
prof. Lydic was great, he was understanding and very helpful
Although more strict in grading than other teachers, Professor Lydic is an amazing professor who genuinely wants their students to succeed. Some things to know: His essays/reading quizzes focus on short stories that must be read (most are 5-25 pages long) For our class (1302 short story), he had a revision opportunity for 5 points on each paper.
took his 5 week, asynchronous course. My opinion is the # of papers (7 in 5 weeks, that increase in length- a 3 paragraph min, working to 9 paragraph min, including revisions) is too much for a 5 week course. The work load could be condensed slightly while still showing comprehension of learning objectives. The grading/due dates are confusing too.
