I'm getting my PhD, he's one of the few teachers I think back to for foundation. Challenging at the time, yes, but worth every minute. He's smart and clear and expects his students to work a little. One of the best psych teachers at Lehman!
He is HORRIBLE!! He is so boring and not helpful at all.
He is the weirdest professor I have ever seen. he knows what he's talking, but he MOVES AROUND so much that I can't focus in class. He likes to touch things around the room, swing his legs, and contradict himself with the textbook. He has an extremely boring tone. But, according to him, his lectures is not important, coz the tests based on the textbook
the man knows what he's talking about... but he spends so much time contradicting the text... why doesn't he just write his own textbook...the test questions come out of left field. The text takes forever to get thru... my advice, take the course via E-Permit @ another CUNY
You have to read to understand. The professor open to answer questions and help to understand but not traditionally. He prefer to challenge by thinking. Encourage participation and discussion. Concepts always necessary and required but not always spent class time teaching it. Readings brings good knowledge to facilitate discussion and debate.
Professor Manier is one of the best professor I had at Lehman. He is great I had two classes with him, after the first class I chosed to get him again.
i had him back at nyu-knows the material back and forth, very engaging and interested in engaging students (not just some talking head). one of my favorite psych professors!
If your psy. is your major and you have plans of pursing a grad degree then this this the guy to stay in contact with. Knows the feild, easy to listen to, explains the stuff really well. For all student looking for an easy grade and are not really in there for the what you can learn, well this is not the guy for you.
If you like psychology and are thinking about getting a master's or even a doctoral degree then this professor is an awesome choice. He is approachable, funny, and helpful especially once you graduate. You might read a couple of disgruntled comments but I doubt those students were serious. There was a couple of lazy loudmouths in my class.
Very clear, helpful, available, easy, understanding.
Great professor, very helpful, one of the best I had in Lehman, I took 3 classes with him and worked on a research, I really enjoyed working with him. I strongly recommend him as a professor if you are planning to take any psychology courses.
If your interested in getting an education in an intellectually stimulating yet comfortable environment, you'll love Professor Manier. If you are only interested in getting a passing grade this may not be the class for you.
definitely the intellectual type. it's all about depth and philophy. he's a cool guy, i really enjoyed this class, but it isn't easy, he lets you know that from the start. you are expected to produce a good paper.

Dr. Manier is totally fair, and never plays favorites. One thing you can be certain about is that, if you fail this course, it is because you did not study enough. He is the best professor I have ever had, and although I did not get a good grade from him, I blame myself, because I know I didn't study enough.
He's a good person and teacher. He knows his material and does his best. You have to study but he's good.
If you just want a passing grade, this class is not for you! He only gives a midterm, a final, and one paper, but they are hard. The first exam for my class covered 7 chapters. He is a nice guy, and he's awkwardly funny, but the material is hard and he doesn't help make it easier.
Be prepared to work. He's an interesting and helpful professor but a bit strange. He's fair when it comes to grading...if you do the work, you'll get a good grade.
I did all the assignments and got good grades on them and participated every class and still got a not so great final grade. He makes it completely unclear of what he expects of his students and is not very helpful.
He knows his stuff. Tough class. not for the posers. Must read text and pay close attention.
He's a good professor. He makes you write a lot of essays, but it's ok. He's really hot too. 8)
This professor is filled with knowledge. His delivery of the material needs some work. he isn't very helpful at times and seems more concerned with being on t.v.
i took is class twice and pass both. i wouldn't say his class very easy but it wasn't reall hard either, as long as you read the text your fine. plus he as an interesting sense of humor which is sometime funny sometimes not. the best part of is class is that he doesn't monopolize his lectures in class. every student is able to take part
Not an easy class. But read the text, and read your notes consistently. Best way to study for his tests are to make index cards of each person or concept he discusses and memorize the facts about them. Only gives a midterm and final, no need to attend class. Extra credit also given in case you're scared about your performance in the class.
Prof Manier teaches this class from ancient philosophy. If u have no interest in ancient then don't take this class. He goes into heavy detail about philosopher's & their theories, which is not an easy to understand. He doesn't explain the topics well. If u don't do well on the midterm then writing the extra credit is a must.
In short, Manier is a great professor. He stresses the importance of philosophy in psychology, and he does well in explaining each school of thought (which is not an easy feat). He really engages everyone in discussion and has a very laid back attitude. He gives reviews before tests,so as long as you do the assigned readings you're getting an A.
Prof. Manier is a great professor. He knows and enjoys what he teaches and it is your duty to respect that.He is not that difficult, just need to study review sheets and you should be ok.Taking good notes is important because it will help with the review sheets. If I had to take more classes with him I would do it with no hesitation.Love his jokes!!
Sigh! This class bored me to death! But honestly he is fair and knowledgeable of the subject. If you are give any type of energy into this class he will definitely give it back. I don't think he can help the fact that the subject itself is rather boring. Multiple choice exams and extra credit essays make this class worth it!
I loved this class and Dr. Manier! He wanted to know our opinions on what we learned and we had a lot of interesting discussions. The only problems I had were that he was sometimes all over the place. I also wish he'd be more strict with attendance. It's not very encouraging when your prof doesn't care wether or not you're present.
Prof. Manier is a good teacher. His classes are lectures that go on for the most part, but ask questions and he'll answer them in conversation. Attendance isn't required so you choose if you want to learn from him. Midterm and final determine your grade. My semester he gave review sheets that told us what would be on the exams w/ Extra credit essay
Best class ever!!! Dr.Manier is funny as hell and has the sexiest swagger ever. Totally would rock him:)
He is a wonderful professor and he is very smart. He has an abundant amount of knowledge on the topic. His tests are easy if u study the review sheets. I would definitely take him again.
Never take this class because he is the only one teaching it...No matter how much I studied it was never enough...plus that fact that even if you attend class every day, you barely learn anything because his notes on the board are jumbled up so much! I had to totally depend on my textbook and even that wasn't enough...Don't do it to your GPA peeps!
He is a great professor, class is hard and bore, but Prof. Manier tray to make interesting. attendance is not mandatory, but if you go is for ur benefit. he gives reviews for the exams, plus if you need extra credit to bring up ur grade he gives you the opportunity to do it... NOTHING IS EASY, ALL DEPEND ON YOU. Well I got a B.
He is a great professor, class is hard and bore, but try to make interesting. attendance is not mandatory, but if you go is for ur benefit. he gives reviews for the exams, plus if you need extra credit to bring up ur grade he gives you the opportunity to do it... NOTHING IS EASY, ALL DEPEND ON YOU. Well I got a B.
Professor Manier is very smart guy, class is little boring but he tries to make it easy, He gives alot of note and an exellent rebiews sheet for midterm and final, I tought the class would be fustrated for me yet I don't like history, but I enjoyed this class. One of the best professor at lehman college.
Difficult class, graet professor, this class is more than boring but a little be of entusiasm could make a little different. he is fare grading, gives extra credit assigment plus give a review sheet of each exam which are two. I don't like history at all an I did more than good in this class I got and B+. i recommend him.
Professor Manier is an intellectual man. I was able to see that he knows the material pretty well, but he does not have his thoughts organized. He is often times all over the place with the material. He jumps from topics to topics and you can get lost very easily. I just hope he learns to prepare himself a little better.
Don't do it your GPA. He is all over the place and you learn nothing.
Very smart Prof. If you look for for help definitely you are going to find him. If he sees you that you are interested in class HE LIKES THAT. Always do the extra credit. He gives 2 exams only, I fail the Midterm, and I did the extra credit and I was always at his office asking him for help and I pass the class. He is better than Prof. Phelps
I've never met a prof as horrible as he is. Not only is he all over the place, unorganized, but he fails to make any part of the material interesting. He only gives 2 exams and expects you to know way too much material for the class. Unless this is your ONLY class for the semester, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
I am a psychology major. This is a very boring class many student slept during the class and he only gives two test which are very difficult. He is very difficult to understand because he talks funny and takes very long to get his point across. Do not ruin your GPA
Unorganized, unclear, boring, monotone, expects you to know too much. His only 2 exams are VERY difficult. DONT TAKE HIM UNLESS ITS YOUR ONLY OPTION!
He is very passionate about his field. He knows a lot and can go off on a tangent. But as with any history course, it is boring BUT it is totally doable. You just have to put in the time to study and review. He has reviews for both of his exams and he tells you EXACTLY what to study- I mean what else can you ask for. You have to work for it!
He seems really nice and yes he's cool and down to earth, but as a professor he is tough! I studied all of his slides and read about them in the chapters but his tests just didn't match his review sheets. And when he did reviews he flew through them without even giving you the chance to take notes. If you can find a different prof take them instead
He seems like he is an approachable reasonable professor but he is the exact opposite. His slides consist of one long slide with a jam-up of information that he flies through. He is disorganized and your grade is based on two exams that don't match the lecture. He will ruin your Gpa. Inconsiderate and detached personality. Avoid him.
Professor Manier is an amazing profesor. I had a great time in his class. He knows what he is talking about and is extremely helpful to his students. I feel like if you come to class and follow along with the study guide that is provided in the begining of the semester there is no way you should fail. Would take again if i had the chance.
Prof. Manier is a good professor, gives one midterm and one final based on 50 multiple choice and one essay for each exam. Make sure you read, great part is that he posts a review sheet for the exams very early and that gives you an opportunity to review way ahead.
Abosutely awesome! Lecture a little boring but worth it. simple and straight forward. doesn't require much. gives extra credit. two exams, review sheet for each. if you study the sheet you will do fine. Not a tough grader. Linient. Honestly, if you fail any of his course, then your effort was 0-10%. People are just lazy. Meet him half way. simple.
If you will read then you're going to be fine. He bases all his exams off the chapters he assignes to read. The exams are kind of hard but if you read and listen to his lectures you will do fine.
He's a really nice professor. Funny, a little awkward, and genuinely kind. However, your grade is based solely off the midterm and final (which he counts as 4 tests). There's no class participation or HW which would help the grade. He also doesn't count attendance. You will NOT do well if you do not read the (very long)chapters. Interesting class.
This class has been the hardest I have ever taken in Lehman thus far. Professor Manier does is best to teach a difficult subject with so little time in the semester. There are only two exams given which are broken up to two multiple choice tests with two essays to go with them. Extra credit assignments are offered as well. You have to work hard
The class was based off of two exams. Your participation does not matter and neither does your attendance. There is no work outside of those two exams so you are on your own when it comes to learning the material. Pull your phone out and audio record all lectures. You're going to need the recordings when creating the study guides! Trust me!
He was great. Your grade is based off two exams,a midterm and a final. You can always do some extra credit which are reflections about the readings. Attendance is not mandatory BUT... you should show up unless you know that you will get A'S on your exams. Simple class but there is a lot of work to do.
your only graded on a midterm and final, so if you pass those youll be fine, if not then your screwed. He is extremely lecture heavy but just babbles most of the time and then his tests are extremely difficult. only take if your a serious psy student!
He is an awesome professor and flexible professor. You do have to work for your grade.
I took Professor Manier in History of Psych and it was amazing. He is very enthusiastic about what he teaches and the material is not hard. Read the chapters, study the review sheets and you will be okay. Learn! Learn because knowledge is good! This class will make you love Psychology. I recommend everytime. No Pop quizzes. Lectures are important!
Just go to class and he does reviews before every exam. Offers 13 points of extra credit which is amazing. Funny lectures and you will pass if you're not lazy. i took him for two classes.
He is a super funny professor who is really knowledgeable. You do have to make sure that you go to his lecture and read his notes and textbook. If youre on top of your work youll do well in this class. Hes very compassionate and very easy to talk to.
I took this Professor at Lehman college for history of psychology and I would highly recommend taking him for this class. He is very straight forward with what he expects from you as a students and informs you on day one, on what you need to do in order to pass this class. He makes this class fun, interesting, and enjoyable to be in.
I can describe him as such a good professor, give extra credits, the reviews are exactly the same for the exam and he explains the material very well. I will definitely take another course with him if i really have too! Good luck guys!!
He is a great professor! You should definitely take him he laughs, makes jokes, and is full of energy. Dont take him as a push over though, do the work its literally just exams and he give you a study guide to look over the notes. He is not afraid to get off topic or stay on a topic is someone doesnt understand. A great teacher. K.
Great professor. He gives students a chance to improve their grade by giving extra credit assignments, majority of professors don't. The lectures aren't boring, he is hilarious. But you are still learning at the same time, he's very insightful. This is my second taking a course with him.
Amazing professor, very caring towards his students and knows the curriculum very well. Take him for as many classes as you can!
Great professor. He is extremely understanding. My grade is based on 4 test. 3 multiple choice and one take home essay. He also offers the opportunity for extra credit. The test are kind of tricky, Im a great test taker but they were still difficult. You definitely have to read the book, his notes alone are not enough. I would take him again.
I think he should make attendance matter, it's important to engage with students in the classroom. He is very funny and nice, I just think he should make his class a bit more organized in the way he teaches the material (Notes would help!) PSY is a hard topic, not for everyone!
Honestly idk what the exams are based on because its not the review sheet, Ill tell you that. Youll find questions on things he quickly mentions and moves on from in class. Youd think the class would be interesting, its not.
The grading criteria is literally only your exams. You fail the exams, you fail the class. If this is good for you then yeah take the class.
Good professor, he rambles sometimes and acts like he has to be funny or else the class will throw pitchforks at him, you can tell by his nervous laughter sometimes, so be prepared for those. Other than that his curriculum is super easy.
He's a nice professor. But if you want an A you have to work hard for it. There are 3 in person multiple choice exams, and 1 written that is take home. He gives 1 point extra credit for a chapter summary of 3 pages, you can do up to 10. But people barely have time for that. His classes are pretty long and the earliest you get out is 20 mins early.
Made the mistake of taking him for two classes. You are graded on 4 exams, 3 multiple choice (28-30 Qs) and one take home essay. He tends to get off topic, a lot. Exams include questions from chapters that have NOT been covered yet, he doesn't curve (says he will though). Make sure you read ahead, this will help a lot.
WORST PROFESSOR OF LEHMAN. I do not recommend such a horrible professor. DO NOT DO IT TO YOURSELF. The exams are really HARD and he expects his students to have a memory of a lifetime. His lectures are extremely boring. If you got a lot going on this professor will be a mistake. Try your best to select another professor.
Professor Manier is an excellent professor. He is one of the few teachers that give students an opportunity to do better if the student is not a good test taker. He also has office hours where you can meet with him to discuss any difficulty you may be having in the course or if you want him to give you tips on what you should focus on for the exam.
Professor Manier is a great professor. Honestly, one of the best professors in the psychology department. He cares a lot about his students so don't doubt asking him if you don't understand something. He's cool and even jokes around in class sometimes. His exams are 3 multiple-choice, a take-home essay, and extra credit essays.
Prof. Manier is one of my favorites I've had at Lehman by far. His voice is a bit monotone but he heavily encourages class discussions and is very invested in the material. His detailed lectures and numerous extra credit opportunities are foolproof for a good grade. He is beyond kind and understanding. I'll miss his classroom, in person and online!
Never held actual classes aside from the week before an exam. Very rude professor but its easy to pass. Be prepared to basically teach yourself.
Prof. Manier made things so much easier during the pandemic. Hes very caring and understanding. He encourages group discussions. His tests can get tricky, but just make sure you study and you should be fine. He gives study guides and posts his powerpoints. No homework, and you can email him if anything. I highly recommend taking him. A true gem!
Great professor. He is very understanding. My grade will be based on four tests. Of the four tests, three were multiple choices and one essay. He also offers the opportunity for extra credit. The test is tricky; however, if you listen to his voice thread reviews for the test and read the book, the exam will be easier. (I took the course online)
Nicest guy, understanding and laid back. Keeps his students up to date with lots of helpful emails. If you listen to his lectures and take notes, especially his exam review ones, it's impossible to not get an A.
Super easy going and very to the point. I had him for an online History of Psych course and I couldn't be happier. The syllabus was clear and to the point, the textbook was free and short reflection essays can be turned in for every chapter as extra credit. No homework, the lectures were prerecorded and 3 tests. Mostly independent work.
GREAT PROFESSOR, he actually cares about the students and is very flexible with work. Class time is only to go over the chapter and for any other questions, extra credit options. The exams are not hard, he provides a study sheet, and the questions in the exam are based on the sheet just has to be prepared. I would definitely recommend him.
He is very nice and understanding! care a bout his students!!
He's a good professor. 4 exams which are easy. his study guides are very helpful. lectures are kinda boring though. he has extra credit assignments
Proff David is the best. Took this course online with him and he uploads his lecture prior to the class. You can chose to read but everything is already on his slides. Exams are easy as long as you use his slides and his study guide. He gives extra credit by writing an essay on the chapter you read, summarized. Definitely recommend him.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Take him you wont regret it. Lectures are recorded and the test are basically the same as the lecture. Super easy class.
Prof. Manier is great! All you have to do is watch the recordings, attend class if you want, and always look at his test reviews because his exams are exactly like the review. He is very nice and funny, I don't know how his score isn't higher! He also provides some extra credit essays, the only con is that your only grade is based off of 3 tests.
Yes definitely recommend Professor. You won't have a hard time in this class.
It's was an interesting class. Yes definitely recommend Professor, Manier.
Make sure to read and listen to his lectures you will do just fine.
Great professor, who just GETS it! Great recordings, and easy grader, plus the class being based on 3 exams is very practical and helpful for full time students. After first 3 lectures the class becomes asynchronous.
informative professor.wish I took this class sooner! You can skip 305 and 226 and take this class because the others always fill up. Very clear grading criteria, very flexible and helps review prior to exam. All information to the exam is given just study it. Truly amazing professor, I wish all professors were like this, they should take notes...
Great professor very respectful, understanding and funny. The course consisted in only 3 exams, also he gave extra credits which is amazing. He recorded all lectures and posted it as well. Just make sure to read the textbook and his lecture slides.
Prof. Manier is amazing. I'm so glad I could take him for my final semester; he requires three exams and chapter essays for extra credit. His exams are all multiple-choice, and he's a very fair grader.
Prof. Manier is great. Attendance is not mandatory after first 3 classes. There are 3 exams- for which he provides thorough reviews the week before. They are very easy to pass (multiple choice). No homework, no papers. Comprehensive final exam. All lectures are posted, so you can learn at your own pace. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. 10/10!
even though its an online class, its set up to be asynchronous so you can basically work at your own pace. I stopped going to class a few weeks in and i just read the chapters and notes instead. I would have appreciated a better format, the slides weren't very organized. He is a nice and chill professor but I think the class needs more structure.
Makes attendance mandatory for the first three classes and than the class turns asynchronous. Offers extra credit and study guides are voice threads which are straight to the point. Exams are open book and follows the study guides. Very funny and likes to engage with his students. Easy A!
Amazing professor, he is kind, hilarious and wants his students to pass and do well. His tests are straightforward as he has exam reviews and he is always accessible outside of class if help is needed. One of the best PSY professors at Lehman. Take him.
Professor Manier's class is a breeze. Attendance is mandatory for the first few weeks, then it's self-paced. Use the study guides and unstuck ai to ace the easy exams. Highly recommend for an easy credit!
This professor is very kind. He gives a few extra credit essays through out the semester. 3 exams. No assignments. Attendance is not required. His class is interesting. Replies to emails.
This class has three exams, including a final. Attendance is optional, but reviewing notes is recommended. Professor David is responsive and offers accommodations, so ask for help if needed. There are three extra credit essays available to boost your grade. It's an easy class, making it hard to fail.
