He knows what he is talking about, but he is very liberal. So if you are more conservative then you two will keep the class very interesting.

Professor Manning is one of my favorite teachers of all time. He has genuine interest and knowledge about the social issues he discusses with us in class. Mr. Manning is such a great guy. He has a good head on his shoulders, and puts humor to endless amounts of trivial knowledge - a lot you will find useful. I am one of those kids who have a hard time going to class but I loved going to this one. Although he does make his opinions known he does not, in any way, press them on any of his students. His gives reviews before the tests and gives you most of the answers which you can write directly on a piece of paper that you can use on the test!

Tests are almost completely from the power point lectures, so if you show up and pay attention you should do fine. Only short in-class writing assignments and one short paper required. Though his jokes may get old, he is more entertaining than many instructors, and he is clear about what he wants you to know for tests.

Had Mr. Manning for principles of sociology. I have to say this class is super easy. He lets you have a typed page of notes for a test (none-not even final are cumulative). Writing assignments are good/easy..He is a good teacher and tells you what you need to know. If you get less than an A in this class you better look in the mirror.

Best class ive taken at santa fe go far. Take any class with his guy he's great. This class has only 1 short paper and 4 test, his final isn't cumulative. David Manning is an excellent professor. My only complaint was that in his exams, tghere were a few times when two out of the four multiple choice questions were correct although David was quite inflexible about changing my grade. Otherwise, he is a stellar professor and fascinating from Day 1!

Missing in class assignments can really hurt your grade. You can use a one sided page of notes on the exams but if you do not read the book or really listen to lectures, they will be useless. Some lectures can be long but they are not really that bad. Watching him teach makes me want to teach. :)

Take this class if you're serious about criminology, not if you want an easy class to take in order to get financial aid. There is a lot of writing and only two tests. Your grade relies on papers. Overall he is a great teacher and it is an easy A and a good GPA booster if you need one.

Manning is awesome! Just follow his instructions on assignments and you should have no problem getting an A in this class. He let's you use a cheat sheet on your exams and does a review with you before each one. He's hilarious too so there was never a dull moment in class.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER. he's hilarious, helpful, and understanding. the class is pretty straight forward, a few mini writing assignments, midterm and final, and a research paper. it's an easy class as long as you do what is required. he's awesome.

Professor Manning is a funny professor and likes it when the class engages in civil discussions. He is very helpful and will pretty much tell you how to pass his class. He goes over the tests before hand and lets you use a cheat sheet too.

Professor Manning is just great. He is like a big teddy bear. Looks tough on the exterior but really nice and funny on the inside. He is one of the few teachers that I actually enjoy going to class for. The information in his lectures are pretty interesting and he makes class fun so it makes you want to go back to class each time.

Best Professor! This class is a writing intensive course and was a bit challenging for non writers like myself but I enjoyed his class. He is a hilarious guy and a fair grader. So professor Manning is probably one of the nicest professors I have come across. I took this course over the summer to gain credit and it was the best choice I could've made. Yes you have to attend class to get credit. He is one of those really nice teachers that isnt trying to screw up your GPA with bs assignments. His jokes are pretty funny too

He is an easy grader as long as you know what you know what you are talking about. Not that many assignments, 1 extra credit opportunity. Textbook isn't necessary if you are familiar with the subject, a lot of the info needed can be found on the internet. Really easy class. Manning gave really good feedback & was quick to help. He is so funny! Even though I took a night class and was tired, he still made it very interesting. He cares about has students. Attendance isn't really mandatory to learn the information, but you get points for showing up. Barely any assignments. Easy grader. He goes over everything before you take the test which is nice.

Manning is not for everyone. If you're easily offended, consider another professor. That said, I found his personal anecdotes, appreciation for old school hip-hop, and *slightly* inappropriate humor to create a great classroom atmosphere. If you can research and write a decent paper, you'll kill this class. Manning is insightful, kind, and fun.

Definitely glad I chose him for this class! He had all of the lectures posted on canvas at the beginning of the semester so I NEVER took notes, still got an A. Professor Manning is a funny guy who clearly knows how to interact with college students. Although his lectures do get a little repetitive, he always finds a way to sneak in a funny joke or bring up a great story. The online assignments were due by the end of the week and they were pretty easy. His office hours definitely helped as well.

Pretty great teacher, will help you if you ask, he grades tough on essays but he always give you feedback so that you can improve it the next go round, he also lets you use a sheet of one page notes for test so take good notes even though he'll go over the questions he'll most likely put on the test. make sure to come to class!

Manning was the BEST teacher I have had at Santa Fe so far and I'm about to graduate! This man had me crying laughing on the first day of class. Uses relatable stories and encourages group discussion/questions. Not much homework and only 3 Tests that he lets you use a one page cheat sheet on!

There aren't many professors like Mr. Manning. He's funny and very helpful. He gives the answers to the tests and let's you have a cheat sheet. There are papers but they're super easy and you have a month to do each one. Also if he finishes the lectures early he lets you go (Which is basically every class). & the best plus is you actually learn!!

Good Teacher and has many funny jokes. I would show up for class if you want to get points in attendance and class participation. Test are easy; he lets you have one page of notes (typed or handwritten) for the test. You don't really need the textbook if you show up for class and follow along with the lectures.

David Manning is an excellent teacher. When he goes over his lecture slides he goes into detail about all of it. It is important to ask questions because there is a lot of information. You will have two essays and he will go over requirements in class. Attendance is mandatory and it is worth going. Great teacher and I high recommend him.

He is hilarious and super easy. Only 3 papers, and the 2nd paper is the rough draft for the 3rd. The only tests are a midterm and non cumulative final; the day before he does a review for each and pretty much tells you exactly what will be on them. His lectures can be a little boring but he makes up for it with his jokes. I highly recommend him.

He is a really great teacher! Criteria is easy to follow and he assigns one or two short essays a week. He grades fairly easy. The only issue I had is that he doesn't allow you to have your own opinion on some topics. He gives you his opinion &expects you to construct an essay stating why his opinion is correct, regardless if you believe it or not.

He's the man. 3 essays and 2 tests for the entire class and none of them are hard as long as you prepare for them. Take him!

The lectures can be boring but he has an awkward, funny personality that makes up for it. Dry humor. Doesn't care if he offends anyone. Makes a lot of modern pop references. Over the semester, he gives out 2 papers and 2 tests. Also the "critical thinking" in class assignments are an easy 100 if you show up. Highly recommend taking him!

Prof. Manning is by far one of the funniest professor I've ever had. He gives really good feedback after each of the writing assignments and also there is a grade for attendance, so don't skip, even though there is no point in skipping because his classes are very interesting and funny.

Easy A. I took this class online and there is one short writing assignment due on Sunday. absolutely no late work. I tried to submit an assignment 5 minutes late and he would not take it. Other than that very reasonable and offers one extra credit assignment at the end of the semester

There were 10 Short essays that were really easy and interesting topics, 3 pretty easy tests, 1 Extra credit essay, and i think 2 essay quizzes. It was an easy interesting class. I would definitely take his classes again.

He can offend people easily and does not really care what he says about politics. However he is super funny and his class is rather easy to pass. It is a great class to take to fulfill your research and analysis credit. 2 test and 3 papers which are all easy if you pay attention in class to what he says.

Great professor, literally easy work. Only three exam which is multiple choice and goes over important part of the exams. You'll only need one scantron because you will reuse it for all 3 exams. All you do is take notes, and show up to class. Easy A.

Social problems with Professor Manning was very interesting, it is a pretty dark class but he makes jokes that lightens up class. I would take another class from him if I could. Pay attention during exam reviews and you will get an A. When we were forced online he made the best of the situation to try and have a normal class.

Provides outlines for each chapter you're supposed to read. You could just not read the actual text, but it really clarifies the information. He provides video lectures, but it's basically him reading the chapter outline. First half of class you practice getting ready for a major research paper. Take good notes for test and you'll pass. Overall Mr. Manning is a good teacher. The majority of his coursework is easy and spaced evenly apart. An easy grade if you just do his coursework. Beware his "research" papers near the end of the course. He's particularly critical of those assignments and they're easy to fail. Be sure to put your periods in the right place and CLARIFY your theory.

This professor was amazing. Never did I ever feel confused leaving his class, if I had any questions he would answer them in a respectful manner. Extremely funny. Everything and anything you need is on the PowerPoints, you really don't need the textbook. The essays are pretty easy too, as long as you do them you'll get credit.

I thought this class was a pretty easy class. His gives explicit instructions on his writing assignments. As long as you follow them you will be in good shape. 5 writing small writing assignments followed by a final paper. Tests are not proctored and he gives study guides with lectures. Professor Manning is an excellent professor. Come to class, most test questions are from the lectures. He gives VERY clear feedback on writing assignments, so as long as you look for the feedback where he tells you to, and then follow it, there is no reason why an A isn't attainable.

Easy social science credits or elective. Easy short assignments and easy online tests. Classes are just lectures where he reads the slides which are available on canvas. A bit opinionated however it's easy to ignore and he makes it super light hearted and humorous, and it isn't as bad as people make it seem. Easiest class you'll probably take ever.

Great teacher and a funny person. A day in this class looks like listening to his lecture, hearing a few jokes, and writing some papers. Overall Prof. Manning just says it how it is and some people take offense to his comments but probably because they are a little to sensitive.

This was a very easy class to the point I wish I could give it a 0/5. Professor Manning was an easy going teacher. If you plan to major in sociology I would not suggest this class as I honestly did not learn a single thing at all.

Prof Manning is such a funny guy and wants all of his students to succeed. Classes consisted of him lecturing and sometimes got boring. Tests were very easy and he gives great feedback.

I loveeee Professor Manning. If you get the chance to, take him. Class time is dedicated to the lecture/presentation. He likes to go on tangents, but they honestly help me stay focused. You have a quiz due almost every Sunday, and exams occasionally. You have one big project at the end of the year, but that's it.
