Cool professor who cares a lot about give you a chance to get a good grade. Tons of Webassign homework and quizzes or tests nearly every week. Quizzes are semi easy if you study and prepworks are very easy. He drops your lowest 3 quiz grades and homework grades and there is an optional final. He tells a lot of cheesy jokes.

He is very clear in his lessons. He goes through definitions and examples for every section of every unit. There are review sessions nearly every week. There's also homework nearly every week for this class and usually one quiz per week; it isn't hard to get a decent grade in the class. Some of the topics are tricky, but he teaches them well.

Just the normal math teacher. He makes the lectures interesting, but can get boring as he moves slowly through the notes. Just do the homework and extra problems and you'll pass!

This is the best professor to take for MATH166. He cracks lots of jokes in class. The only complaint I ever had was that he takes a while to get back quizzes to you. (A lot of times quizzes weren't available to study off of for the exams.) Exams definitely test whether or not you know the material and require lots of studying.

Blank copies of the notes (try to print them out before class) and completed copies are posted online. Class isn't mandatory, but its easier to understand the material if you hear him explain it you. He makes cheesy but funny jokes throughout class, so its not super boring. Take advantage of his office hours for homework help. Overall, he's great!

He explains things in a way that is easy to understand, even if you aren't a math person. Math 166 is one of the best things you can do! Other than quizzes and exams (4), I rarely went to class and passed with an A. Notes are posted online, so that's a huge plus. If your math skills are not great, go to lectures and week in reviews. Study the homework and notes for exams! During exams, read ALL of the instructions for extra points.

He drops the lowest 3 quiz grades and lowest 5 homeworks and replaces your lowest exam with the final. That being said, the tests are challenging and require effort to get As on- very specific on free response.

Good prof during class. You get 3 attempts on each (online) hw problem. He drops a few of the lowest quiz and hw grades. The cumulative final is mandatory and can replace your lowest exam grade. A math class at TAMU is not recommended but Dr. Manuel made it doable. He is easy to follow along with in lectures. He is very helpful outside of class and always fair. You are going to have plenty of homework but I recommend going to the student help sessions to surely get 100% on all of them since you get 3 tries per question.

Actually made calculus a breeze! He is so clear in what he is saying and will make sure everyone is understanding throughout the lecture. This class is an easy A if you do the homework and regularly attend his office hours. You really will get the grade that you deserve.

I am absolutely TERRIBLE at math. I barely hung onto a C but I dont have anything bad to say about Professor Manuel. He is funny & very explanatory in his lectures. With any other prof I would have failed this class miserably. The only negative thing I have to say is that the online HW & in class tests are way harder than his in class examples.

The horrible thing about this class is that there are 3 or 4 online homeworks due every Monday night, but class notes do not help with the homework AT ALL! I came into calculus 1 with no background in calculus, along with a weak foundation in math altogether. He is a great teacher who cares about his students and Im so thankful I got him as a professor. I do recommend getting private tutoring or going to Evans free tutoring in the library for help because the was NOT an easy class.

He was a great professor and alawys willing to help outside of class (even helped with a math problem for another class when I randomly walked by). The exams were pretty identical to what was done on the homework, even one exam having every question from the homeworks. It's math and not everyone's that great but he made it easier and more bearable.

The class' content is easy to begin with but he does at least give everyone a chance to pass and I suck at math. Dropped lowest exam grade and then provided assignment that gave 12 points added to 2nd lowerst exam. And the whole time, the exams were just re-used homework questions so we were exposed to exam material without knowing it. Make T-notes

I took him for my biology calc credit after taking ap ab calc in high school. He explains calculus to where it actually make sense and connects a lot ideas. Recitation is with a TA and has weekly quizzes. Not a super demanding class if you get the concepts in class and study for exams. 3 exams plus the final replaces your lowest exam grade.

THIS MAN IS AMAZING! I feel like I sit through a lot of math lectures and never understand what just happened but every time he taught I understood every step. The only thing I disliked was that he didn't have a formal test review so you had to make your own. Other than that he is incredible and he is willing to help. (ps: he does drop hw grades)

The course organization was amazing. Quizzes, homework, lecture examples, and computer assignments prepared me well for the tests. There was a lot of help available through office hours and professor Manuel is easy to approach for help. And, for those willing to prepare ahead of time, prep-assignments made concepts much easier to understand.

Prep assignments are the most pointless thing, you do this thing before every class and its worth 5% of total grade. There are quite a few things to track but he makes it pretty easy. David Manuel is a SOLID math professor. Class is amazingly well organized and he always has a smile on his face and cares a lot about his students. Reasonable exams, crystal clear lectures, good office hours, and amazing notes. Take him and you will actually learn differential equations instead of studying to forget like most other profs.

His class is very straight forward and his lectures are very enjoyable. I took Calc 1-3 at Blinn and honestly he made transitioning into Math at A&M very easy.

As someone who took Calculus in high school, this class was very easy and I am confused on why I was required to take it despite having Calculus credit. He is pretty much always available if you need extra help which is nice. If you are proficient in math, I would not recommend attending lectures because you are not going to learn much. Easy A.

I do not have the best math background, but I've always enjoyed math. I am sure there are better and easier out there, but there are for SURE harder and worse as well. My fav professor fs. If you can, def take him bc he teaches extremely well and is very passionate about the course. as long as you pay attention in class and do the homework, you should be able to get an A in this class. He doesn't give excessive amounts of hw either. All of the hw he gives helps in preparation for the quizzes. Def take him!

Professor Manuel was probably my favorite math professor I've had; his lectures are generally easy to follow, even if the concepts can be a little hard to master. His grading is tough but fair, and he is generally just a good person. His office hours are helpful for pretty much all questions. The homework may feel like a lot at first, but its not.

Consider yourself very lucky if you get professor Manuel for Calc II. Calc II on itself is tough but he makes it doable. There is a reasonable amount of different assignments/homework due every week but this keeps you updated with the material for the exam. Lots of help outside of the classroom available as well. Great guy overall.

Grading is basically just exams(80%) but there are the coding assignments as well as homework and quizzes. He's a very approachable person, and very patient with the whole zoom setup. I would recommend him to anyone, as he's very accessible.

Manuel is a great math prof. If you're struggling, he is more than happy to help you out. It also helps that he throws in some dad jokes from time to time to lighten the mood. As long as you pay attention and ask for help when you need it, it's an easy grade. I managed to get a high B even while working full time, if that tells you anything.

Amazing Professor. Gives plenty of time to clear doubts in class, records lectures for us to review later, available for help sessions outside class, and he's active on the class GroupMe too! Manuel is very well-rounded! He does a great job of explaining the material during lectures and explaining the "why" of what we're doing. He answers tons of questions in lecture too. He does well at explaining the process, which is very helpful. Know your Python! They will teach it to you, but some prior knowledge would definitely help.

A fantastic professor for 151. Having minimum prior calculus knowledge, he was able to explain most topics very well and easy for me to understand. Make sure to stay on top of online HW, and study for quizzes (most are very easy). Also, the python labs are not too difficult coming from someone with no prior coding knowledge. I 100% recommend.

Professor Manuel is an amazing calc professor. Granted the exams are hard but if you do the practice questions from the online textbook you should feel good about it. I have no negative things to say about Dr. Manuel. I took calculus AB before, so I felt more prepared for the class than I would have been, but if you have no prior calculus knowledge, the class might be difficult. It is a little fast paced. There are quizzes every week and python labs, and overall he provided a lot of resources to study with.

I really enjoyed Manuel's class and I'll be taking him again for 152. The class is easy if you took AP Calc, but if you haven't, it's taught like a review and would be difficult. His class was very upbeat and his office hours are always full. The lab wasn't difficult, but overwhelming for the first few weeks if you've never done python.

He was good and lectures were ok. Beware he does take off points for not showing proof as well as the tests are all multiple choice which I wasn't used to. The homework is pretty easy and he drops lowest grades which is the only reason I got an 80. Overall I recommend him and he seems like a nice guy.

Your grade is almost all based on exams, so study well in advance for the exams. I have taken calc before so it wasn't too bad a class, but I still learned a lot by re-taking it.

Amazing professor. I took honors and it was my most difficult class, but I learned a lot. His tests were difficult, but he is aware of it and adjusts things accordingly to compensate it for it, such as making the final a breeze. Go to class, and you are pretty much guaranteed a B, but you will have to put in the effort for the A. Great lectures.

Took Calc AB & BC in high school. 100% worth it to retake it in college. I had the foundation from 2 prior years of calculus, but it made me realize how much critical thinking and obscure algebra that was not used within the AP curriculum. If you didn't take AP Calculus in high school, be prepared to review some things on your own. With that being said, most of it will just be simple memorization rules, for application of the rules, he is a great lecturer and very funny and engaging.

Dr. Manuel was a great professor. I took his honors 151 class and it's very heavy on proofs and answering questions in class. He's a picky grader on tests, but very accessible outside of class and will work to make sure his students succeed.

Posts completed notes and recordings! Genuinely pretty funny and maintains a good relation with the student body. Good about both taking and answering questions. Even if you take a different MATH151 prof I'd HEAVILY recommend just going to his lectures instead. I never went to his office hours personally, but I heard good things there as well.

I had Manuel for 151, but for 152, it was a tad different. He is a great prof, truly cares, and is funny. Lectures were a bit lacking compared to some other profs for 152, but nonetheless, if you paid attention and did all the supplemental work, you should be fine. I did not take BC in high school, but I still managed to pass. Beware of exam 2!

Prof Manuel is an amazing teacher and an even better standup-on-a-chair comedian when it comes to diverging series (You'll see if you take his class). I HIGHLY recommend him for 152. Even though his quizzes are a little challenging, you get used to them. His lectures are also extremely helpful for exams, so pay attention and you will make an A.

Great prof, fun dad jokes, talks formally/can be confusing. Just don't take honors unless you're ALREADY good at calc- less detailed notes, harder material, proofs, frq exams. I failed & am now w/ Cantu. First test got a 97 versus a 54... now I don't have to go to class lol. still recommend but know ur ability, others were fine. easy/mcq final

Manuel is a great lecturer and easy to follow. He makes asking questions feel very welcoming and explains topics patiently. Left this class with a great understanding of Calc II. However, his tests make up a large portion of the class grade and are difficult because of the particular grading. Utilize office hours to ensure proper notation.

Professor is very good and the lectures are well organized. He drops a couple of grades at the end of the course and rounds up if you do all assignments. The only flaw is that he goes very fast through the notes which can be hard to understand at times.

Professor Manuel is one of the best MATH 152 profs out there, as he teaches the course in an engaging and easy to understand manner. The only downside to his lectures is that he can go very fast, which makes it hard to understand. The class is heavily dependent on exams (80%), so the only way to succeed is to do good on the exams.

Outstanding lecturer, I had Manuel for both 152 and 151 and he is able to explain concepts concisely and clearly to all students. MATH 152 is an extremely rigorous class, but it was thanks to him that I left the class with a great understanding of Calculus. However, beware of the exams because they take up the majority of your grade in the class.

Math 152 is an extremely difficult course, but Dr. Manuel is an extremely engaging and entertaining lecturer. Great over email and in his office hours, and he may award extra points if you complete the prep assignments, gave me the boost I needed to get an A. I would take him over and over again for any math course

Great lecturer, answers questions and wants his students to succeed. His canvas modules are well organized and his grading is fair. Not a personal fan of the 'prep assignments' but he curved your grade up to 2% if you did all of them. Beware of the exams (lowest one dropped if you do well on final)

I had professor Manuel for honors 151 and 152, and he is definitely one of the better professors I have had. He loves teaching and is happy to explain any concepts. He is very easily accessible outside of class with lots of office hours. He is a tough grader but adjusts grades very fairly to help students succeed. Highly recommend overall!

Dr. Manuel was a very nice professor and would even explain topics repeatedly if needed so you understand them. He did record lectures. Prep assignments can help your semester grade. He did tend to explain topics conceptually before anything else. Be sure to do a lot of practice problems and practice applying the concept to problems.

I liked Professor Manuel so much for 151 that I purposely took him again for 152. Although both courses were very tough, I was able to get As in both thanks to his strong lectures and fantastic office hours. He's very hardworking and legitimately wants to help students, just make sure to take advantage of all resources that he is always suggesting.

Although Calc 2 can be challenging, Professor Manuel does a good job of breaking down each topic and explaining it to us. He is constantly updating the canvas including uploading lectures. He is also very accessible outside of class. Highly recommend for calc 2

if you have the opportunity to take Manuel please do! Calc 2 is known for being a difficult course and it is, but Professor Manuel is such an amazing professor! He was super accessible and explained tough concepts in a way that is actually understandable, so you don't just get stuck memorizing the processes. 11/10 would take again

My GOAT. I suffered a lot during the summer session while working & he was super accommodating. My grade doesn't reflect his teaching at all- I'm just a TERRIBLE test taker- but his lectures aren't bad. I watched old lectures with Amy Austin and Schrader in comparison: I prefer Amy Austin's note style but liked David Manuel's verbal explanations.

I took this class in Spring '24. Dr. Manuel is a great professor, and actually explains the conceptual aspects of the class. He's also pretty patient during office hours. That being said, Dr. Manuel's final was harder than the other profs. He also grades the FRQs hard. But he does offer extra credit if you do it. It got me from a B to an A.

Professor Manuel is a solid choice for Calc 2. Though the class can be challenging, his lectures are clear and he's happy to clarify concepts. Consistent engagement with the textbook and office hours really pays off. unstuckstudy also proved helpful for supplemental practice.

AWESOME LECTURES, had TONS of office hours, gave examples of coding assignments and homework during the lectures and office hours. Made recordings and posted annotated notes of lectures. Great English and made LOTS of memorable analogies and math jokes to help us remember content. Exams were stressful, but he made the course more manageable.

You can really teach yourself the material for Math 140, in my opinion. Class is encouraged with random poll everywhere. He's passionate about the material and will help if you ask for it.

I took his honors Math 151 class, and it was extremely difficult. I had taken Calc BC in high school and got a 4 on both my scores, and this class was overwhelming challenging. I failed 1/2 of my exams but managed to get ~81% as my final grade with my final exam. He's an amazing lecturer, and a good person, but makes his class very difficult.

Go to lecture and listen for his jokes; they're there, they're quick, and they're funny. He is really good at explaining stuff and wants you to succeed. He also wants you to be thorough, so you will lose points for really little things but it makes you a better mathematician. His 151 honors class was so cool!!!

This is for the MATH151 Honor's section; be ready to complete weekly homework and python lab assignments. Attendance is NOT mandatory and lecture/notes are all posted online. However, his in-person lectures are also super engaging and entertaining. The only part annoying part was learning proofs which regular 151 did not have to do.

I took the honours section of Prof. Manuel's 151 course. BEWARE, IT IS HARD. The course work is much harder than the non-honours sections. The exams are pure free respose, and there is a proofs section that is exclusive to the honours block on every exam. That said, professor Manuel is an amazing teacher and person, and I highly recommend his class

I took 151 honors and this class was really hard. Exams are 13 FRQs with 1 MCQ python question (because 151 does python labs...). The class was structured pretty much like 171, which is the math major version of the class. I had an 87 going into the final, clutched up (93 on final), ended the class with an A before he added a 1.5 point curve.

Took 151 honors, and the advisors lie they are REALLY different/harder, you have to know a ton of proofs that make up a portion of your exam. The professor is great and caring but sometimes too smart for me, if you don't care for ETAM and want to learn take this class. Additionally, all the tests are FRQ unlike regular which is mostly MCQ.

If you have the opportunity not to take this class, don't. The only reason you would excel at this is if you're a math major. I made the mistake taking this class because I thought it would be easier than 151, and it is by far the most difficult class I've ever had. If you're anything other math or physics, don't even consider this class.

Overall very willing to help. I had to drop the class because I suck at math but he was great. The exams are rough, very few questions and no multiple choice.

He is a good professor but a tough grader. He will easily take points off for improper notation even if you did the work correctly, but I understand he is doing it for a good reason. Overall it is a tough class but he explains material well and all lectures are recorded for the ones who don't attend class.

Fantastic lecturer, extremely organized, and very patient with answering questions. The honors exams are HARD - all free response and heavy on proofs. I spent a ton of time studying for this class but I thought it was totally worth it. I've never learned more in a math class than in this class, even though it was my second time taking Calc 1.

I took Professor Manuel for MATH 365 online during the summer and he was the best! Truly was helpful and did what he could to help you pass. While his tests were hard, he offered extra credit after the first test and was able to drop a few assignments in the end of the course. The textbook was needed as many of the homework problems were from it.

Great prof for math 168. The syllabus is clear and there are no surprises about what is expected of the students. Great prof and has good TAs at office hours.

Take honors, best class I've ever taken in engineering for sure and I've taken a lot of classes. He makes sure you know your stuff

He's a super chill guy. Bro is super funny and makes jokes, sometimes sings in class, and is super good at explaining super complicated stuff. Loved his class and I actually enjoyed going to his lectures. Super easy to talk to him, he answers questions, and is genuinely enthusiastic to teach the class. Love his energy

Dr. Manuel is an amazing professor for this class. Cal 2 is already a hard class, but Dr. Manuel's depth of understanding made it a lot easier to understand. His lectures are funny and engaging, and he also walks through problems in class and answers questions well.

I enjoyed this class a lot! Very open to questions during class, all expectations are very well defined. Calc 2 is a hard class and this professor is very good at teaching it. Does sound a little like a muppet but thats not a bad thing imo.
