I feel he is not the best lecturer--there's a lot of self-studying. However, he posts lecture clips on YouTube, which was very helpful. His exam difficulty changes, but he grades fairly and curves nicely at the end of the quarter. The key to succeed is regularly going to office hours and doing as many problems as you possibly can.

Grade is solely dependent on exam performance. No extra credit, decent partial credit. Class pacing was a little horrible as he spent a disproportionate amount of time on some units versus others (with no genuine reason other than bad planning). Offers help but is difficult to approach. I strongly suggest taking Cascarano or Zerger instead.

David Marasco is the worst professor I have ever encountered. He is unable to provide ample help, he is unapproachable, his class is designed poorly and leaves students with more questions than answers. I did not truly feel better off having taken David Marasco's 4A class. He should consider retiring as not everyone is suited to be a teacher/mentor

I am stunned that Foothill College would allow students to be introduced to Physics with a teacher like this. He does not really offer a good classroom experience to his students. Most of class time is used for him telling jokes or stories that do not pertain to test material. His advice is to read the textbook, with no clear expectations for tests

He doesn't give you what he wants to see on tests, he just expects you to figure out the steps to a problem by watching a classmate do it or something. He is hard to find for help, and does not openly provide it during class. I suggest a different teacher, our class average seemed really low and I don't know why he was teaching this class.

There was no point in David Marasco's class where I felt that I had properly grasped the material, especially after the tests. He assigned tests on his own accord without any plan, and left us guessing what to study and when. I can't believe Foothill would allow these types of poorly ran classes. I really considered filing a complaint with admin.

Just received my grade back from this class and I can't believe how tough this teacher was. I mean for a beginner physics class, especially when comparing the exam material to students with other teachers during lab period, this was an extremely difficult and unforgiving teacher that I hope no one has to take in the near future.

This teacher really ruined physics for me, I suggest taking a different teacher if you want to learn with your class time rather than having it feel like a waste. He essentially makes office hours required, as you don't receive the proper practice or instructional time in class. Prepare for a lot of work and learning by yourself if you take him.

This class was very challenging and unclear. The exams were difficult, I struggled a lot throughout the quarter. I felt like I was in pain the entire time because I was constantly confused during class and had to do a large amount of work afterward to catch up.

Professor gives you very little resources to work with and throws curveballs on tests. Very difficult to know what's on the test and to prepare. He has a more conceptual approach, and the openstax textbook that he uses just sucks at that, so if you do take this class I'd highly recommend using the Serway's Physics for engineers textbook instead.

he attempts a conceptual approach, but does not allow adequate explanation in class, he just makes us work together and try to figure it out. if you try to ask him a question in class he will say ask your classmates who know less than you do lol

I feel like he throws random curveball questions on the tests because he thinks its funny. I mean honestly his whole demeanor is so off and maybe its just because hes an awkward guy but it doesn't seem like he really wants to be there..

I do not like his demeanor at all. He won't really answer any questions in class and is rude. He acknowledges his faulty demeanor with statements or jokes, like that excuses it or something. If you want a teacher who cares, take anyone else.

Speaks slowly and for too long, in a non information dense kind of way. All you do in class is solve practice problems, the problem is that he doesn't write down the answers in a comprehensible way. This makes it difficult to review and understand and ultimately you are left to guess for yourself what kind of answer he would look for on the test.👎

DO NOT TAKE. He has a moderate rating because he was more reasonable in the past. Literally do everything you can but take this man's class. He will not teach you anything useful and from a very computation focused/analytical facing textbook give you a conceptual/theoretical test. Extremely harsh on grading for absurd/experimental test questions.

You choose how much each components weigh in your final grade in the first day of the class. Follows the Openstax but not very closely and brings many of his own things from history. Can be quite cranky, but funny. Expects formally well-written lab reports. Heavily lecture-based. Didn't let me eat candy during exam. For that, he gets 2/5.

Would take again

Reasonable amount of office hours. Everything is graded out of 4. Expects you to figure things out in the lab. Let you skip final with either B or A if average midterm scores are above certain points. Quite knowledgeable, funny, but sometimes unclear, which is the point you should ask questions. Flipped learning style for ABC but lecture for D.
