This guy is a complete wack job! He takes attendance so fast that you don't have a chance to say, "Here!" so he marks you absent. Then when you have four absences he lowers your grade. He is a jerk and he wears the same ugly hat everyday. He is "the haunchback of Temple".Dont buy the book either.

His lectures for the most part were interesting, however you could take the best notes in his class and still do terrible on the midterm and final Basically the tests suck because half of the questions you are unfamiliar with because he never mentioned them in class. I do no suggest for anyone to take this class. Most people get a C in it.

what w wack job! Not helpful AT ALL! Only 2 grades and he counts attendance so go to every class. He also jumps around during his lectures and puts ALOT of stats on his exams. Try to get a diff. teacher

He's pretty horrible. He's really weird, he takes attendance everyday and only allows one absencents until he starts dropping your grade a whole letter. On top of that he berates you and is very critical of any questions. You only have two grades for the whole class and his lecture's and disorganized and purly from his speech.

I took Dr. Margules last semester, he is very scary at first, the first day of class he lays down all the rules and I mean rules! His lectures can be very interesting, however-- I dropped his class because I found I didnt need it for my major and I am still getting emails from students trying to fight their grade!

What a goon! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER...takes roll every class!!! His tests are impossible...90% of class fails the tests so he has to curve them. Nothing he teaches is on the test. What a miserable teacher

Warning do not take him! By far i think he is the worst psych professor i have encounter. IF u decide 2 take the class after this warning, here's a few advice: Don't bother buying the txt cause none of the Ques r from it, go 2 class & take notes. His exams are horrible because they are base on lecture. Went 2 class & read d txt but still got a C.

Only gives two tests..the midterm and final..so if you do bad on the midterm..you better do really well on the final

Very hard class, no homework or papers though, but he only grades on midterm and final. Huge curve bc everyone always does poorly in his tests. I would try to find another teacher for this class. UPDATE: after taking many more psych classes he is absolutley to worst teacher i ever had..for psych. Mazama still takes the cake overall.

Do not take him unless u only want a midterm and final and will never be absent or have to go to the bathroom.On a positive side-he is very knowledgable of the subject.

I put that he's not hot but I think he was an old man with sex appeal. He was also kind of nutty but I thought he kept the material interesting. He gave us no clarity about what would be on tests or anything but I never even bought the textbook and I'm doing fine in the class because I always go to class.

Avoid taking his class if you can, his lectures are often all over the place. He emphasizes important concepts in class and then test on details. One of the most difficult and frustrating classes I've taken

His free textbook is not only plagiarized, but much of it is straight off Wikipedia. I don't pay for college to be taught from Wikipedia.

He teaches at an extremely advanced level. The only way you will pass this class is if you write down everything he says (if you can write fast enough) and read and reread his text book which is just as hard to understand as he is. There is another teacher who teaches this course, I strongly recommend choosing her as an instructor if available.

It's really hard to pick out what he finds important. There are usually a lot of random statistics that you need to know but he never mentions. There's only 3 tests and the lowest score is dropped, so there's really no room for error if you want to do well

Don't get me wrong I think he is a very smart man but I do not think he taught the class well. When a person would ask a question he would ramble on about something else and his answer wouldn't even answer the question!!! He tries to make the class fun but it is very hard to understand because he uses no textbook. He has his own made up notes and basically tries to teach with hardly any foundation

he is a terrible teacher. every class is rapid fire lecture and yet he still manages to explain nothing. he wrote his own book which has more typos than a craigslist ad and you're expected to know every detail from every 50+ page chapter. and your entire grade is based on 3 tests and they're all impossible. good luck!

Dr. Margules, is a brilliant man. Very funny and affable. Which is why it's hard to rate him so poorly. While I learned a lot from him, I felt like much was wasted. He writes his own, extremely convoluted text on Word, and his exams are impossible, many questions are beyond unfair. I highly recommend not taking him- it's frustrating, wasteful.

Avoid class at all costs. Readings are extremely lengthy and Margules simply regurgitates what the reading says. If you dont understand the reading you wont understand his lectures. Tests are on random facts. Grade can be lowered by practically anything(missing class, leaving early,etc.)Just don't do it.

Like someone said before, Dr. Margules is a brilliant man. His resume is impressive and he's been publishing studies forever. That said, the class should be avoided! It's incredibly complex and detailed for people who don't know much about the subject, and his "book" and lectures are incomprehensible. Impossible tests. You've been warned.

Must go to class everyday. Especially if you are not familiar with the material. Taking notes and reading the chapters are a must. The tests are impossible. He is very intelligent and has a lot of experience yet if you can, switch out of his class ASAP.

He is a nice guy and he knows what he knows well BUT he doesn't really teach you what you need to know in the lectures. The test is 100% text book based, but he doesn't give you a text book to buy - he uses something he calls "his" textbook that he made in MS Paint. Do not expect to do well. He congratulates the students who get Cs on the tests.

A very intelligent man and funny but the way information was presented was very difficult to understand and not clear. I'm still not sure of what the class was about. I would venture to guess that not many people got above a C.

Okay, so prior to the class I read all the comments on rate my professor and kinda freaked out that I wouldn't pass the class. It looks like I will be coming out with a C because I read, highlighted, and made an outline of the chapters and did this process about 2 weeks before each test. If you do you will be okay. curves tests.

Writes his own "textbook" which contradicts his lecture. He's deaf and constantly has a cold. His tests are impossible. I read every chapter, attended every lecture highlighted, outlined and made flashcards and still only came out with a B. His tests are a one sided xcel sheet of 50 MC questions that are very obscure. GET OUT NOW HE'S AWFUL!

Hardly anyone gets above a C, with a curve because his tests cover only the most minute, irrelevant details of his "textbook" chapters, which he writes himself and which often contradict his lectures. He's deaf which makes class discussions hard and his is mind numbingly boring. GET OUT NOW this man is awful!

Absolutely awful. I am a psychology major and love the subject. His information is REALLY interesting, but he doesn't stick to any type of plan. I'm not even sure what the class is about. Horrible grader, class average is a 60 which is a C, and he curves. His tests are nearly impossible but if you study hard you could probably pull a B-.

His tests are basically multiple choice nightmares. The questions were on irrelevant hyper specific details of the lecture or readings, you basically just have to memorize every word, detail, definition, and numerical value in the material if you want a good grade on the exam. --If you're taking an intro class, take somebody else.
