Dr. McDaniel is one of my favorite teachers ever. He's funny and knows what he's talking about. The tests and essays are VERY hard though, but I'm sure all American History classes are like that. He relies heavily on the TAs, so they determine a lot about how hard or manageable the class will be.

Dr. McDaniel is the greatest teacher I have had in my life. His lectures are so engaging and often super entertaining. He pokes fun at the T.A., plays songs before class, and has funny slideshows three times a semester that kind of have to do with the material. Dr. McDaniels has kind of a tough course schedule. There are four different in class essay quizzes based on four different books. On top of that, there are course tests which include a multiple choice section of terms he gives you beforehand but I found that many times what I got from lecture wasn't what he had on the test. The other part is essay.

Course Load is extreme and rarely gives feedback on discussions or papers. Therefore, you will be unsure of why you received the grade you got. I wouldnt take this class again nor advice anyone to take him during J-Session. Unless you like to read and not have a social life while on break.

The lectures are interesting, but it is very difficult to take notes. The quizzes are graded very randomly, It seems as if he just grades based on how much you write. The exams will take you all period. I learned a good amount in the class listening o lectures, but I struggled with his marathon tests and quizzes.

Professor McDaniel is a great guy. His policies for class include: No electronics, pay attention, and read the textbook. Very note heavy, but definitely manageable. He lays out exams very clearly and even gives out the essay questions out a couple nights before. Easy class if you pay attention, and read the books. Definitely enriching as a class.

Dr. McDaniel is a cool guy, but he expects a lot out of students. There was so much reading, and it's hard to keep up with it when you are taking a bunch of other classes. He also expects everyone to participate during lecture, and assumes that if you aren't talking, you didn't read, which is not always true. Not the best but also not the worst.

This guy is really funny; his lectures are long but somewhat entertaining. Very note heavy because he doesn't allow you to use a laptop. Participation is such a huge portion of your grade so you really can't afford to be shy/quiet in the class. Other than that, there are a few reading quizzes and two or three exams overall. Pretty decent class.

McDaniel is an awesome professor and more importantly an easy A if you put minimal effort in. Your grade in HIST 1002 is basically based after five quizzes over the novels assigned to you and three tests over terms and historical events. (Which are given to you in advance!!!!) The tests and quizzes are predominately essays which are graded easy!!

I took Professor McDaniel's online history class. You actually have to read the chapters he assigns (usually 4-6 a week) in order to complete the lengthy weekly writing assignments. Make sure you have time to read, analyze text, and craft essays each week before taking it online. Also, he does not give individual feedback on assignments.

Seems like a nice enough guy but I cannot recommend taking this class over the J-Term. Here's exactly what's expected: - 4 papers per week (800 - 1000 words; 16 total) - Reading of roughly 500 pgs/week - 1 final paper + exam You don't have to read the book, just the articles. Follow the rubric and you'll always get an A- min. DON'T TAKE. Brutal!

I wouldn't recommend him, especially if you're looking for an easy ESSV1 class. He's more quantity over quality - as long as it's long he doesn't care what it says. He also gives primarily the same grade to you from the first quiz (which are essay questions about the books), so if you get a B expect to get a B for the rest of the semester.

Professor McDaniel's class was the easiest and most fun I've taken at Marquette. Just make sure you write down literally everything he says in class because you never know what he'll put on the open-note quizzes. I read all the required books, but Sparknotes should be enough to pass. If you show up to class and pay attention you will get an A.

Great and funny guy. You MUST write as much as possible for all papers, reading quizzes, etc. This point can not be over emphasized. If the requirement says 500 words, write 1000 just to make sure you get an A. You could write 10 pages of garbage and he will grade it higher than 2 well-thought-out and good pages. You must go to class also.

Professor McDaniel was my favorite professor at Marquette. I took his 1601 class for a required credit but he made it enjoyable. He is funny and engaging. The only downside is that you have to go into plenty of detail whenever you write an essay during a test. If you don't include lots of detail then you won't get an A. Highly recommend nonetheless

Entertaining, but super lecture heavy. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will get behind if you don't attend the lecture periods. Can't over emphasize the need for writing lengthy essays. For at home essays, double the required and for tests, write until your hands might fall off. Quantity over quality FOR SURE. Does novels instead of textbooks.
