He is the best music teacher anybody could ever have. You will never hear him discourage u like other professors.

David is a great teacher and an amazing musician.
oh boy, he's awesome. It's not simply a music class for 2 credits but you truly learn basic music theory, how to write a song...have loads n loads of fun...it's my favorite class so far. My singing voice has changed dramatically.
I don't know his real first name and didn't want to look it up. He allowed his intro. piano class to be filled with expert students, this in return caused the class to be focused more towards thier needs. Instead of (few) students who really were at the intro level
I enrolled into mus 121 (a piano class for beginners) he allowed experts to join us over 98% of the class were experts, in return the class became redirected towards thier progress and not on the real mus 121 students. Don't take his class unless you can play the piano!!!!!!!!
Take his classes if you're an expert otherwise, you will get lost!
he's too tuff, not understand student at all
He's incomprehensible to student. Nice only from appearance but from inside.
Don't think he's easy......
David is an excellent music teacher. I took this class and I don't know what these other people are saying about the supposed "experts". He is really helpful and encouraging to beginners.
Ive taken multiple classes with David. Hes an awesome teacher & I feel like I can trust him to lead me in the right direction. Hes one of the teachers I know I wont ever forget, & I find his classes to be the ones I look forward to most. Hes a great musician, & really enjoys teaching. I recommend his vocal ensemble, even if you think you cant sing!
He's awesome pianist, very nice, helpful and always ecougrage his students. will take his class next quarter.
David is extremely knowledgeable about his field and really has the experience and expertise to back up what he teaches. He is also a great guy - really nice, fun, and supportive. Occasionally I was annoyed by the chaos in the class, but I do believe that he took the poor behavior of some my classmates into account when calculating our grades.
He is a wonderful teacher and also a pianist! He likes to encourage students when students are playing piano. The grade he gave would not be such harsh. He focus on how much progress you can get on each performances, if you really pracitce, you will be fine!
David is a gifted musician and teacher. You will learn immensely useful things. Raise the bar, for this class! Come to class, do all the work. Honor his time, and the commitment of students who really want to learn. This college is cool. But there is a lot of apathy. Don't consider this place a throwaway deal. Because then of course, it will be.
If you need a 2 credit class and have never sang a song don't worry. David Mesler's class is like a car wash come in dirty and come out clean.
David is a good professor, and knows what he is doing. Class often felt optional, but those who did not come had a much harder time on test days. He certainly can help you learn music, and I did not have any problems with the other students in my class. Very willing to help you out as needed.
Very professional, helpful.
Great teacher, very passionate. Looking forward to taking more classes with him
I've taken multiple classes from David at this point, piano and voice. These are group classes and it can be intimidating to be a beginner but you are taught and graded against your own progress, not anyone else's. You will learn a great deal no matter what your level is, and I can always see my improvement. Great professor, really supportive.
He is my favorite professor so far at this school. His group piano class is very easy, he makes it this way so you can have fun instead of stress just show up and try hard. He is very understanding and will always try to help you if you show him you want to be their. He will make class an enjoyable experience while actually teaching you what matter
If you want to improve your voice, this is a fantastic class. Mesler is a polished professional musician in several genres. He'll guide you in discovering, strengthening, and caring for your voice. And, he is a truly gifted teacher. He shows as much interest in and respect for the struggling (tone deaf) beginner as the clearly Broadway bound.
Great teacher! Easy 4.0 for a good singer like me XD, prepare for the composing and lyrics writing assignment though, it feels like writing a short poem, which can be hard sometimes, or makes you feel stupid XD
He is one of the greatest teachers I had at SCC. He always tries to answer all questions. I was an international student so sometimes my English grammar was bad. Even though, he never gave up to understand my question. He gives extra credits most of the quizzes. Take his class!
I needed a 2 credit class to graduate and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved David's beginning voice class. He is respectful of everyone, makes you feel comfortable and teaches the class very well. I had a lot of fun and was actually sad when the quarter ended.
He is awesome ! You will love it if you take one of his class! I already took this class for two quarter! I learnt a lot from the class! Trust me ! You will have a great improvement if you choose this class! The teacher was sooo nice and you can get the credit easier!
He's one of the best instructors!! Singing is not an easy thing to begin with but he makes everyone feel comfortable in his class. He is caring, understanding and extremely supportive. You won't regret taking his class.
He is a good teacher and helped me a lot, and let me make up work so I could pass
Mesler was fantastic. I came in knowing nothing about singing and came out somewhat knowledgeable and a lot more polished than I did coming in. Mesler is very kind and encourages his students to strive for the best. He also has an incredible resume. Check out his website. There's a pic of him with Bill Clinton.
I had Individual Vocal class with him and he really helps me improving my voice. He is really detail which is so helpful. You will also have the opportunity to practice stage performing as he has a showcase for all of his students to show their work whether you're a singer/songwriter/pianist/...(kind of like the final exam). Showing improvement A
Mesler is awesome! Performance Experience was such a great class and experience, I learned a ton about music, working with other musicians, and marketing myself in this class. Would and am planning on taking more classes with him.
Professor Mesler provides an engaging and intriguing atmosphere in which to learn more about music. He creates a space in which you can be expressive and creative but also be educated in a way that allows the content to connect with you. He pushes you to get outside of our comfort zone in order to learn but also is fun and easy to converse with.
David Mesler is a superb teacher and top notch musician. Very fluid in multiple genres and styles of playing. Most of all he holds you accountable, if you don't practice you don't progress. So make sure you come to class and do your home work as you should be. I wish I had taken more advantage of his teachings while at SCC.
His class dramatically improved my singing.
This professor is amazing. In 3 quarters he has helped me to learn so much about rhythm, time signatures, reading, writing and playing music. It has been an honor to be taught by such a professional. He is gifted.
I've had David for NUMEROUS classes during my time at SCCC, (Piano, Pop Vocal, Voice Lessons, Perf Experience ect) He helped me prepare for my auditions into my current school (18% accept. rate). He's supportive, and has a deep love and respect for music and art. His influence is one of the reasons I pursue a career in Music Theater. He's great.
Has been involved in so many aspects of the music industry & gives extremely useful feedback while also not forcing viewpoints onto his student/s. You only fail if you don't grab the opportunities he opens up for you. 100% worth it for aspiring "musician(s) as an career" folks
David is extremely knowledgeable, kind, caring, and inspirational. He is my mentor, far and above the best teacher I have ever had. He is willing to go the extra mile or two outside of class to help me succeed. This is my 10th year with him and I am still learning a great deal.
I took Mesler's group piano in Fall 2017. He was remarkably able to adapt to a -shocking- variety of student abilities in the class and tailor his work to each. I would take any class he offered and I was able to attend. I have some teaching experience myself and he's the real deal.
Very attentive and passionate, and his lectures illustrate that.
I've taken 3 classes now with Mr. Mesler and he is honestly amazing. If you're serious about learning an instrument and willing to put in the time for practice, he will bend over backwards to make sure you get the best possible experience. If you put in the effort he's a forgiving grader, and his classes are challenging but tailored to every level.
the best music teacher in central
David translates piano theory in a way that makes total sense for beginning piano students. His explanation of reading scales and key signatures makes a novice like me excited to pursue piano playing even more. Hes a gem!
David is awesome. The amount of effort and he puts into his work is awesome. I think of him as a saint.
David Mesler's Performance Experience class is a great way to become more comfortable performing with and in front of others. He is mindful and respectful of each individual's skill level as well as their own personal goals, and consistently gives thoughtful, productive feedback.
Davids teaching style is genuinely thoughtful and always tailored to fit the students individual needs. He makes complex theories understandable and fun to learn. David is incredibly supportive of all his students and goes out of his way to make sure we all succeed, even after finishing class, or graduation. A teacher you will never forget!
David is a passionate music teacher who already published over 5000 songs. I always appreciate how close he wants to work with student and encouragement to students.
Hands down one of my favorite instructor at Seattle Central. MrMesler's music classes definitely helped me understand music, and myself better.
I have taken Mesler's classes for 3 quarters now. One for his beginning class, and another for his intermediate music class. I am now taking private vocal lessons from him, and I've got to say he really makes me passionate about learning how to improve on my singing voice. He gives excellent instruction and always welcomes students to participate.
I'd taken piano and music composition lessons with David Mesler for 5 years,--he is an amazing teacher and musician. He knows how to differentiate his instruction to support students' individual learning needs and also to bring out students' strengths. In short, one of the best teachers and mentors I fortunately have. Highly recommended.
David is an insightful, supportive and caring music teacher. He is an immensely talented musician himself who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to students of all talent levels without being condescending or overwhelming. Seattle Central Community College is beyond lucky to have someone like him around in their music program.
David's class was more than merely a music class; he showed me caring professors exist. Not only did David inspire me to further my musical education, but he changed me as a person. I got more than I paid for with this class, and thats saying a lot with today's education. Regardless of your skill level David will work with you to get that A.
I took individual songwriting and piano instruction with David (the proper code was not available in the menu, so disregard). David was fully present, pushed me to think about my songwriting in new ways, and always provided a safe space for me to grow while helping me push my boundaries. Highly recommended.
I took Pop Vocal Ensemble and Performance Experience with David, and the experience was life changing. David helped me grow as a vocalist, performer and as a person. In Performance Experience, I learned a ton of practical information about the music business. Pop Vocal Ensemble was so fun I took it three times! Take a class with David, he's great!
I took individual lessons with David for 4 quarters and made amazing progress, I'm very proud of the pieces I composed while working with him. David possesses a rare level of talent, knowledge and passion, and is a joy to work with. His high level of achievement is a real inspiration.
I have taken a few of Mr. Mesler's classes as well as private vocal lessons. He has a wonderful way of putting students at ease which is very important in performance-related environments. He is warm and encouraging and his classes were very helpful to me as a performer.
He is awesome
I've taken all of his classes and I still keep going back to take individual voice/songwriting lessons with him. He is an amazing teacher who has really pushed me to get better, and has really helped me grow as a singer/songwriter and find my voice.
I took Beginning Group Voice and Individual Voice until it no longer fit my schedule. David is an patient teacher who is very knowledgable and passionate about music. Growth is inevitable when taking classes from him, you learn something new every week. David is never judgmental, he helps you become the singer and artist that you want to be.
David Mesler is one of the best teachers Ive ever had. He works so hard for everyone who comes into his class and is incredibly dependable as a teacher. I learned so much with him.
I had the best experience in David meslers performance class. He held a really nice atmosphere to share work and gave extremely helpful feedback.
I have taken over six classes with David Mesler. He is an amazing vocal instructor with a very great personality. David Mesler cares about his students future goals and helps them reach them.
David is the best music teachers in Seattle. He is an expert in performance coaching, technique and composition.
Mesler is awesome. Despite trying (and paying) for years, I could not sing until I took his class. He gives great instructions, personalized feedback, and is a great person all around. I would gladly take more classes from him if I could. Totally recommend this professor for anyone.
David is one of the best teachers I've had. He's a phenomenal musician and knows a ton about the marketing side of music as well, and he cares so much about everyone who goes through his classes. My experiences with him have been a lot of the reason I stayed with Seattle Central and haven't considered any of the other schools in the area.
Without exaggeration this professor has changed my life. What started as a sudden bug to begin creating original music (from zero musical training, in my mid 20's) turned into a legitimate lifetime passion and career. I came to this professor on a whim, based on a recommendation from a friend who took his class. 3 years later I am still learning.
David Mesler is extremely skilled and knowledgeable as a composer, singer and keyboard musician. He is genuine, sincere and humane in communicating. He draws upon his deep training and experience to help you become a better musician.
Love Mr. Mesler! He makes the classroom environment feel friendly and welcome. Lots of performances in this class, but you can tell he does that for a reason. He was always so supportive of every single person, gave good feedback but managed to never make it hurtful. If you enjoy singing (whether you think you're good or not) take this class!
David has great energy and is a very good teacher. Opportunities for extra credit every week.
David is very knowledgable and gives the best constructive & encouraging feedback on every assignment. He did an excellent job of transitioning this class to the online form. Even though our meetings were conducted through Zoom, he is always well-prepared and ready to answer our questions. I couldn't emphasize more how happy about this instructor!
David found ways to tailor to individual needs and create a sense of community in a group class. I love that he made space for improv within a more traditional site-reading curriculum. I will definitely take the next class in the series as soon as I am able!
Hands down one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. At the end of his class, it left me wanting more in music. 10 out of times, I would want to take his class again, no matter what subject. He is such an amazing an down to Earth person, it feels a lot more than a teacher and student relationship.
David is a great teacher, able to tune in to whatever I need. He's there to help but not too much. He listens very closely to what I say and is always helpful.
David is an ideal teacher I wish I have in other disciplines. He inspires, he cares, and he guides with expertise. He is a very enthusiastic and happy man that would make one also happy just for being around him. I owe a great deal to him for my love of jazz and the art of improvisation.
I've studied with David for many years. I am always learning something new. He is expert in music composition, vocal and performance and is skilled in teaching these areas. He has great tips for taking your music to the outside world. David is enthusiastic, joyful, supportive and respects you as an artist. Lessons are inspiring!
His lectures are super informative and applicable for beginners. He doesn't go so fast so you won't worry about not being able to keep up with the class. He listens to every students matters and answer all the questions. There are performances every week and he gives encouraging and good feedbacks on students' performances. Love to learn with him.
I love learning with him. Every week, you get chances to perform required and extra credit piano songs. Also, there are weekly Zoom meetings and quizzes. They are not hard to handle so you can get beautiful grades by working your best. Professor warmly listens to you and gives you detailed and supportive feedbacks on every of your performances.
Yes, yes, yes to David! He is such an amazing teacher! I've taken piano, singing (group and individual), and performance experience with him. When I first started, I had stage fright so bad, that I had debilitating shaking. He never judged me, only gave me 100% support. He knows his stuff, he listens, and he's compassionate. He's worth it!
One of the aspects that I love about Seattle Central is that it has shocked me for having such amazing professors at a community college that many view as "nothing better than third-rate". David is no exception. This man is one of the greatest and most inspiring people I have ever met in my entire life, and I am forever grateful to him.
David is my dream teacher, the best one I have ever had. He knows his stuff, knows all the pitfalls that students experience, and knows how to help you through them. He is kind, supportive, inspiring, and has high expectations. He supports you all the way to meet those expectations. He covers all aspects of the subject, not leaving any gaps.
I couldn't find the specific classes from the drop down menu, but I took him for Individual Piano Instruction MUSC 171 and Individual Voice Instruction MUSC 130. As an artist I've grown tremendously and can't recommend David highly enough. He demonstrates that effective teaching isn't just a career, but a skill.
If you want to be a singer, TAKE THIS CLASS. David is a vocal technician who knows what he is talking about. Every week he listens to you sing and gives a great amount of notes, it is like a quick private lesson despite it being a group class. The other kids in the class took his notes and my god they sounded WAY better. And he is SOOOOO NICE!
David Mesler is an inspirational, student-centered teacher who designs instruction around the students interests and capabilities. His instructions are varied including piano exercises to advance one's skill on the keyboard. I so appreciate his wisdom and explanation of music theory as he explains chords and composition.
Professor Mesler is incredibly inspirational and he goes above and beyond to help you out with your musical ability. He shows the keenest attention to your playing style and give you valuable suggestions. Professor Mesler is a must-taken instructor for every performance course.
I had taken Music intro class from David Mesner back in 2010. He was one hell of an awesome teacher. He made music history, reading music, harmonizing and sight reading an exciting adventure to look forward to every class session. I hope He still is the same now, 12years later.
David Mesler is a fantastic piano teacher, especially for beginners such as myself. His musical background and passion are always present in meetings with him. The workload is manageable and the way he structures his course gives you lots of room for reading, playing and even composing your own music which I found very inspiring.
David Mesler is a gifted teacher--I've taken beginning voice, piano, and music theory with him. He's kind and caring, skilled at matching his students where they are, and sets a pace for the curriculum that has kept me motivated and inspired to keep learning. I highly recommend!
Gives detailed feedback about exactly what worked, and constructive, practical, feedback about what didn't. Rated him "difficult" because he notices the every subtle detail, and holds the student to working on each. Unfailingly kind, insightful, attentive, patient, and calm. By far the best vocal coach/teacher I've ever had, here or in Europe.
I've studied with David for over 20 years. He is a very knowledgeable and talented musician who is skilled in many areas of musicianship & in teaching the same. He gives detailed helpful feedback & is highly attuned to your goals & answering any questions. David inspires high accomplishments. He helped me grow as a musician; I so appreciate him!
David is the best teacher I can ever ask for. I took piano lesson from him for about 6 years since 2012. He helped me succeed with several recitals and numerous small performances. I am very grateful to be able to take lessons from him.
I recently had the pleasure of studying with David and I have to say, he was truly outstanding. He is knowledgeable and provides good feedback. He is also patient and inspiring, creating a positive learning environment. He has keen attention to detail and helped me fine-tune my technique. I highly recommend him.
Professor Mesler is an absolute expert and excellent teacher. He created a clear, custom-made program and a welcoming and safe learning environment. Students are expected to practice regularly and are required to participate fully. He will put you at ease even while encouraging and expecting you to make great progress and improvement.
It's hard to adequately quantify the impact David has had on me creatively since I first took classes with him 6+ years ago. His seemingly endless technical knowledge, passion for the arts, emphasis on community and ability to meet artists exactly where they are is unmatched. He has been the most important influences/mentors in my creative life.
Prof. Mesler is an exceptional teacher - his knowledge of music, teaching style, thoughtful communication skills, and experience as a musician are remarkable. His deep love of music and the musical life inspires students to challenge themselves and grow as musicians and humans.
He was amazing on my gurney to become a singer song Wrighter guitarist
