Great teacher
He knows his stuff, and will help you out anytime if you are having trouble
really really nice. cute too.
very arrogant. not helpful at all. acted annoyed with questions (took FALL 2001)
Subject is hard anyways, he is an okay teacher. Teaches from his own text. Moves pretty fast, don't miss a day of class.
Awesome teacher, clear, willing to help, nice. Cares about our success and teaches relevant material & its process that can be used in the real world. Highly recommended.
I don't like math. Good teacher hard concepts, I wish you could get homework points to help out with the grade. Don't fail any of his tests you may never recover. I still don't like math.
He is very difficult. This is one of the hardest classes you will take. He lives, eats, breathes, sleeps stats. He's fairly nice, but not that helpful to those who are not gifted in math.

when i asked a question he responded "we've been going over that the whole week, you need to go figure it out yourself." ~ he obviously is getting paid to do something other than TEACH!!!
man, i still get mad thinking about that class. Meyers is nice, but most of the time I had no clue what he was talking about. I worked so hard for a stinkin C.
I think he wants to fail everyone
Very unclear and unhelpful.
this is one of my hardest class ever, i have never studied in any math class, and this class was a challange for me. He is a grate teacher, but his lecture goes realy fast. prepare to study, and dont miss a day.
not very clear when explaining in class, and needs to slow down when explaining in class.
VERY HARD!! If your conclusions aren't what he would write you get no credit. You could have the right answer, but it still wouldn't matter. I went to every class, did all my homework, asked questions, and got a 79.96 and he still gave me a C. He couldn't even give me .04 of a point on effort.

Yes, Mr. Meyers's class is challenging, but if you do your best to pay attention in class, take good notes for your self (he makes easy to follow notes for you on the board in class, so copying all of them down), and go to his office during his office hours for extra help, and put in an overall true & good effort into his class, U can pass w/an A o
He is a good professor of music
If I could put 0's I would. Unable to contact him in everyway. Had online class, He left you in the dark with his own book he wrote. Absolutely do NOT take his classes!!!! Needs to be fired!!!
I went to his office every day and only missed one day of class. For 3/4 of the class I had an A, but ended up with a high B. He is willing to help, but makes you think for yourself. He is VERY strict with being on time and will not let anyone take a quiz if they're late. He made me laugh.... & cry. Be prepared to work hard.
His Class is VERY hard and fast, if you are not prepared to take notes and actually study outside of class you will fail. He does put very helpful notes on the board, so write them ALL down. Do make an effort to make or attend a study group for his class, it was the only thing that saved most of my class.
Never take him. He's unclear 5 days of the week, and don't fail your first quiz because you're gonna basically fail the course. Take any teacher but him. Don't even take him as a last resort.

THE WORST PROF. I'VE HAD!!! I went to every class, I took all the notes, I did all my homework, and all I got was a C. The math class I took before I took he's was calculus, so I know math and understand it. But he is such a terrible teacher that even a

Stats is NOT supposed to be THAT hard. He wrote the book and lectures on it in class. So if you don't understand lecture, you're pretty much screwed because the book is just as helpful. Do not recommend class AT ALL.
He is very unclear and his book makes no sense! Since he wrote his book it doesn't have examples or any way of knowing how to do problems, so basically you have to attend his lectures, which make no sense whatsoever. If you take him make sure you're ready to work your butt off for a class that shouldn't be so hard!
A very difficult class and the book is confusing. (there are also typos in the book and answer key which is horrible for a math class) He was difficult to get ahold of in the online class and was extremely unhelpful. I don't recommend this class
He may show no mercy, but he tells u exactly waht he wants and what u should do to solve a problem.
He's tough. However, if you work hard, study, and ask questions you'll do fine. He's very technical. He is also a little abrupt but he is a good statistics teacher.
I don't know why everyone is so harsh. Yes, you have to work hard, this is college! All I've heard about Meyers is horrible, he is a great guy. Don't listen to what everyone else says, try him out for yourself. If I had listened I would have missed out on learning from a great teacher! (His book is wack though)
I took Mr. Meyers when I repeated the course. It was so much clearer. He is willing to help you, all you have to do is ask. He may seem mean and scary but if you treat him like a normal person he might surprise you. I think everyone should take stats from Mr. Meyers.
Took an online class for two weeks dropped. David was condescending and made sure we knew that he was smarter than we were. Book was vague and did not have enough examples to be useful. Awful, awful, awful prof. Needs to retire, or do something he enjoys doing. Take stats w/a different professor, unless you like to feel like an idiot.
He was ok! I wouldn't recommend him though. Just dont be intimidated by him .. he's very relaxed but is on a roll when he teaches.
He is a great teacher and very helpful. He was always in his office willing to help anyone who needed it. Super cool guy. I would most definitely recommend taking his class. Pay attention and do the homework, and you will be fine.
Fabulous professor! I hate math, but I ended up loving stats with Meyers. Extremely helpful, definitely go to his office hours if you have trouble. Great sense of humor. Can be intimidating, but you'll find he really, genuinely wants to help you learn. Pay attention in class and do the homework. Ask questions if you're unclear.
Meyers rocks. I seriously don't know why all of these people are so harsh. Stats is difficult, and he expects you to learn. He doesn't just let you slide. This is COLLEGE people. This is what you're here to do. Grow up. Meyers is extremely helpful and really wants you to learn. DEFINITELY go to his office hours if you have any questions.
Meyers is an ok guy, hes not blatantly rude, but he is EXTREMELY unhelpful. Many classmates after class would ask him questions, and he would turn them away, telling them to "figure it out." Subject is difficult, and I wish he would be a little more helpful with understanding the material.
Favorite professor so far. He's extremely helpful if you aren't afraid to ask for help. He sometimes spends about half an hour after class explaining something to me if I don't understand it, just 1 on 1, he actually did this about 4 times whenever I ask. He knows the subject like the back of his hand so he explains it extremely well.
Rather easy course. All quizzes consist of homework problems done the night before.Oftentimes the level of repetition, especially during the latter chapters of writing the assumptions, addresses and whatnot render the course to one that mainly consists of expanding our knowledge of our TI-84's programs. Nvr again are they a mystery!
I had emailed him before the semester started about seeing what the chances were of me being enrolled in his class. He replied with, "My class is such a good class no one will be dropping out. Sorry you won't be taking my class this semester, better luck next time." The first day of the semester, I was enrolled in his class, 11 students dropped.
He sets a standard and he sticks to it. I found all of his instructions very clear, even though I hate Math. He gave me some leeway when I had a calculator die on me, so that's cool. All in all, a professional and intelligent professor.
He says exactly what is in the book and not much more. When I was completely lost and asked for help, he said it's in the book, figure it out. Other classmates had the same experience, we were all in the tutoring center getting help.
He is very mean. But his class is not hard. He is not willing to help. Better not to take his class.
i have him now. its not the teacher its the student applying themself. Yeah its hard but its college now and we have to do it on our own and roll with what he tells us.
i have him now. its not the teacher its the student applying themself. Yeah its hard but its college now and we have to do it on our own and roll with what he tells us.
come to class, study, do the home work, and you will do fine. He does help you if you actually are trying
I took his class 2010Fall.I think his class is esay, his notes,hand-outs,worksheets are the most improtant thing(covering all contents). You dont really need to do the homework, but the homework problems do help you with the quiz and exams. You have 15 quizes, 4 units exams and one final. He is not the easines teacher, but his class is not hard though.
Well, for his class if you pay attention to your notes, worksheets, quizes, you can get at most a B+ or A-,i think its really hard to get an A in his class. He has no extra credit at all.Drop the lowest two quiz scores. But,that's it.If you fall behind, its hard to catch up for your grade. He does not grade hard, neither easy. Not an easy class overall.
If you can work without any assistance then you will do well in this class because he rarely communicates with his online class. Awful teacher but happy I am passing his class.
Mr. Meyers presents a clear lecture that is easy to follow. His handouts are very useful and always directly related to the topic at hand. The quizzes and tests are based directly on what was taught (not all math profs do that). He is very friendly and approachable. And HOT! Woot!
He is cool, but doesn't want to give anyone help. You go to ask him questions, he will drink tea there and let you figure out by yourself
Professor Meyers is great professor. He explains the concepts very well but the class requires a lot of effort (as any math class does). He appreciates his students who want to succeed. As long as you put effort into his course, you will be fine.
just do your work, read the book, and pay attention to the lecture. youll learn and know what youre doing. basically just do what youre supposed to do at school and youll be good. i took it online and got an A. straight forward.
Do NOT take online! very difficult!
He is extremely hard,Every bit of the homework has to be completed, too strict, EVEN WITH THE LECTURE NOTES, NO DOUBLE SIDED. OH COME ON, THERE ARE JUST NOTES. He takes points away if you write on the back of it, He's just too much.
Professor David Meyers is pretty straight forward professor, and is actually a really decent professor. This was my second time taking statistics and Meyers made the material way more understandable. He may be strict but show up everyday, pay attention, DO THE homework, and you will pass. :) I definitely recommend him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. Very difficult to understand, he is VERY strict on homework, notes, and exams. Tons of homework and limited to what notes you can use on exams.
If you often don't understand things and need your hand held then don't take this class. If you are a disciplined independent learner and willing to work to learn then take it. This is a 5 credit class and the workload reflects that. Plus it teaches you how to use a cool calculator. Proctored exams were at the school.
Professor Meyers is not as bad! He was a cool Professor. I think his lectures where confusing sometimes I had to learn the material through my tutor. His test and quizes are NOT hard if your study! The final wasnt bad either. I don't think he is very helpful when it comes to asking him for help. Overall study for this class and you will pass!
Professor Meyers was a really cool guy. I took stats before in high school so this class was an easy A for me. He presents the material in an easy, understandable way and shows each step that must be taken in order to solve each problem and get it correct. I definitely recommend him!
Received the grade I was looking for but barely. Definitely would not recommend taking this professors online class. It was the most difficult class I took all semester. The homework is not too bad, but the quizzes are much harder than the homework and the midterm was much harder then the quizzes. must spend endless hours studying to pass.
I took his online class and it was by far the hardest class I have ever taken! Do not take his online class! He is a really picky grader and does not explain things clearly. I would not recommend taking his class. Math is one of my favorite subjects but he made this class so difficult I had to study 247 and passed with a B.
I took this professor for Fall 2014, he only goes over 85% of the material that is on the quiztest. you have to study on your own and actually do the hw. The quizzesExams are not hard, he uses the Hw problems but just tweeks them a bit. He is not helpful outside of class. He's rude! I wouldn't recommend him. There's better professors.
this is the only class I haven't passed, you must show up every day and steady for the test or you will fail, you must remember all the formulas with the $100 calculator that he requires you to have, I have taken math B60, B70, B23, and pre-calculus at Bakersfield college, I ended up re-taking this class with carol smith, she was an awsome teacher
HARD AS HELL. moves very fast. everything needs to be memorized. no homework but gives quizes based off previous homework. quizes, exams and finals are NOT multiple choice so you really have to know everything. he did help me outside of class, so there's that. oh, and does NOT offer any extra credit. i really wish Scanlon taught Stats :(
Most challenging class I've ever taken. He was very clear about what he expected from you and how he wants things done. There are no surprises in his class. We met once a week and he was very good about explaining problems or clearing up confusion. Online class is brutal so if you are looking for something easy don't take this class.
Online Calc 1 class. Once a week; quiz/test every meeting. Notes are done by videos on youtube, which are meh. Homework is all online. If you need help, get a tutor or office hours. Tests are clear and not difficult if you do the work. He won't spend *a lot* of time on questions in class. Do not recommend unless you are good at studying on your own
After failing Calc 1 TWO times before, I was able to pass with a B because of Meyers. He is the best math professor at BC, hands down. If you struggle understanding math, take him. He is a fair grader and gives partial credit. He doesn't give loads of homework either. TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO PASS.
Great lectures, make sure to pay attention, attend everyday, and take plenty of notes. He assigns homework everyday, but he doesn't require you to turn it in. My advise... DO THE HOMEWORK! It helps a lot. Plus much of the homework problems are quiz problems.
He does not do his job right, I took his online class, it is really hard, he is so picky and rude.. Replys to email late. I would not recommend anyone taking his online class.
You can pass this class no doubt, but this class is not enjoyable simply because of his personality. He is rude and doesn't offer any help. Think of it as a DIY math class
Difficult online course, Harsh grading scheme, no extra credit, and more of a DIY class, rude, and horrible textbook.
Too HARD. No extra credit. Double-size preference sheet and no preference sheet are the same. He will take your credit on your exam without caring your effort to prepare that preference sheet. If you do not have enough time to complete all homework and you just complete a half of homework, he will give ZERO without caring for what you completed.
Must purchase a new book, not a surprise he wrote the book. Doesn't care about student concerns. Tons of homework, all or none grading scheme. Don't do a single problem out of the 35-40 questions (with four and five parts to some questions), the whole homework is an F. Self-taught class; hope you understand enough to pass his grading.
I took the hybrid class (lectures online, meeting once a week). There was either a quiz or a chapter exam when you meet for class. He answers any questions that you might have when you meet for class and then you take the quiz or the exam. I would not recommend this if you do not learn well by yourself.
I took the online hybrid where you met once a week. First, he is the writer of his own book and the only way you can get it is if it is brand new. The book itself wasn't helpful it lacked clear examples. Also a different prof does the online lecture. The curriculum felt rushed I had to rush to finish multiple chapters and the final is cumulative
I'm currently taking Prof. Meyers and I don't agree with the people on here saying he's a bad Professor. Every Math is a DIY! You have to sit and review with the material. This is college and the Professors won't hold your hand all the way. Go to SI if you're really struggling. He really explains Stats with a passion! 10/10 would recommend him!!
The class material was actually enjoyable and even fun, but his personality made class difficult to tolerate. He is rude and condescending when speaking to students and answering questions. His arrogance made lectures dreadful. I have always taken great joy from math, and it's sad that he made this class so intolerable. I do NOT recommend him.
Hes alright and honestly isnt all too bad. Hes fair on his grading and just go to class. Btw, you dont need a text book, just a my mathlab.
i do NOT recommend him!
I for one am someone who doesnt do well with math ever. He really helped me understand math. He assigns homework but doesnt collect it because as he says it reflects on the tests. For exams he does let you have a reference sheet out so that way you dont have to have so many symbols and equations memorized. Overall a great professor.
I have taken AP stats in high school and passed all my BC math classes with A's, but this class was awful. Meyers is extremely condescending with the way he talks to his students, and is a very tough grader with very little room to makeup grades because it is based off of quizzes and tests only.
Awful professor! Very rude when you ask him questions and makes you feel stupid! BEWARE.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! RUDE RUDE RUDE.
Terrible professor. Doesnt teach at all and will make you feel stupid. I have never taken a worse course in my life! Gives us exams on material we havent even learned about.
Would not take his class again, write a word down incorrectly in a math class he will doc you the whole question. Hard to understand and lectures barely made any sense.
Took his hybrid/campus stats class this fall, we only met on Fridays majority of the time to take test. Everything was done online including quizzes and online video notes. He does allow a reference sheet to be used on the exams. He does give good feedback and answers any questions presented on Fridays.
Horrible experience. Ive had all As and in that Stats class I did horrible. The way he teaches isn't good at all. WOULD NOT recommend him.
I have always had straight A's. I am great at math, yet this class I seemed to do terrible. You have to take a ton of notes, yet cant use any of them on the major tests. You dont turn in your homework until the midterm and final , so you have no clue if you are doing things right or wrong the whole semester. Do not recommend.
He gives great lectures! If you miss a lecture, you will most likely miss out on something that will be on the exam. He wrote the textbook and did a great job along with other professors. He makes you work for your grade, but he is preparing you for future core classes. I received a C in the class, but would still definitely retake his class.
Terrible teacher! Doesnt help with anything, you would be better off looking up YouTube videos for his classes. He gives no feedback on papers and his exam reviews dont help out at all. Meyers is very disrespectful and does not help or even care about his students passing. I would recommend any other professor for math!
First and foremost, this is a math course. If you expect to learn everything in class you're sadly mistaken. Professor Meyers is an excellent professor who makes it clear that working on homework, which isn't mandatory, is essential if want to do well. He gladly answers questions outside of class and gives practice exams with around 30 questions.
Do Not Take Online. This professor does not give feedback on any assignments. His lectures are performed via You tube video from an unnamed person. He grades notes and requires a weekly journal. The book he requires, he helped write, doesn't explain anything well, leaving some homework and test questions unanswerable.
Professor insists you use purchase his book for the course, and it is not helpful and consists of errors. In addition to that the Homework problems are different than examples provided. Meyers is a harsh grader, so save yourself and do not take this professor!!!! I repeat DO NOT TAKE this professor!
Keep in mind I took calc in high school so passing this class was not too difficult for me. He is ok at teaching but I mostly learned the material through the web assign homework. He also gives homework from the textbook but I never did them because they were not graded. He allows a reference sheet for the final if I remember right. Overall hes ok
Honestly, his grading is so out of pocket & grades way too seriously. It's really not a hard class, it's just a test of time management & your own motivation to pass. PLEASE don't slack off/procrastinate. Even though it's a flexible schedule, there's quizzes every 3 days so get stuff done on time or else you'll pretty much get a subpar grade of B.
I have no words for how much I dislike this class. I had asked for help multiple times on email and would have to wait for a long time to get a reply but by the time he did he wasnt much help.
He doesnt care about helping you pass. How anyone can say hes good at what he does is kinda insane. Hes just like every other math professor in the world, make it as hard as humanly possible to pass and leave behind those who struggle. Dont even bother
has us use Proctorio like? we are in the middle of a pandemic.
His online lectures arent even his own, he is using another professors videos. Proctors all the quizzes which are always super hard. Not understanding at all. Save yourself and take a different professor
This is the worst professor I have ever had. No compassion whatsoever. It feels like he enjoys giving out bad grades. I haven't learned a thing and he doesn't care enough to teach you.
Not helpful at all, I do not like stats and he did not make it better. Assigned youtube videos for the lectures and make sure you don't procrastinate on your homework. If you can't teach yourself or have someone help you take another professor.
The professor barely teaches. The majority of the class contains droning through youtube videos HE DIDN'T EVEN MAKE. He wants you to buy a brand new version of HIS book full of typos - it feels like I'm a part of a weird cash grab scheme. We're recorded and have to scan our room and ID to take a quiz that he will tear to shreds. Take that W girl.
Do. Not. Take. This. Class. You will end up completely teaching yourself, I cannot stress enough the fact that this man leaves the burden of teaching almost solely on the student. He makes buying the book he wrote mandatory and it is also no help whatsoever. Ended up having to teach myself with the internet, save yourself while you can babes .
Expect to put in some effort! Prof. Meyers gives multiple resources to help you pass the class including zoom meetings that he does on ever single class days where you are allowed to ask any question! He also gives you discussion boards to ask questions if you cant attend the zooms. Quizzes have HW questions in them! This is college, not HS!!!!
Completely stupid grading system. I wish I could go back in time and select a different professor. The guy FORCES you to buy his book because there is where the homework is at. Also takes 15% of you HW point if you forget to answer a single sub-question of a problem. Horrible professor, horrible grading system and horrible textbook. AVOID.
Despite all the bad reviews, I actually genuinely enjoyed this professor and his class. If you put the time in to study, you will do good. If you actually care and are trying, he is there to help. He is a little blunt sometimes, but he wants you to do good. I thoroughly enjoyed his class and teaching style, but it's not for everyone.
DO NOT TAKE !!! Worst professor taken. Especially through zoom. He has no lectures but only of some random guy explaining half the material than lets the student do it's own research. If the student gets misinformation from the sites used they still get points taken off. Save your self a headache and DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like math and want to learn never take this class. I regret not dropping it, I passed but barely. Not worth the headache he is very rude and an extremely tough grader. I will pay you to not take this class.
The subject itself is difficult to learn, and this professor makes it much harder. You are forced to buy HIS book which does a bad job at explaining. The only resource he gives are chapter videos (Made by a different professor). He grades VERY HARD. Formatting is very important in homework, mess up and you'll lose half credit. Avoid this class :)
Class was difficult, but still passed. You need to purchase his book, and are graded by homework, video notes, and quizzes. On midterm and final reference sheets were allowed which is nice. Not too bad of a class, but definitely challenging.
