He doesn't explain anything throughly! He is a horrible teacher!
no personality. Too fast. Poor explanations.
too fast, no personality, doesn't care, doesn't explain well, its like watching a boring tutoring program on tv
Prof Miller was great. I graduated in '95. He is understanding and helps out a lot. He will go over stuff when you don't understand. I liked him a lot.

he doesn't explain anything. He doesn't help students at all.
He does not know how to teach at all, so basically you have to teach yourself the course. Do not take him if you want to actually learn something.
Worst Math Prof i have ever had. Too fast, very unclear. Not very helpful. VERY boring. Does grade on a curve, his only plus
Very Unclear, Does not allow enough time for questions; he expects you to teach yourself, if that was the case I wouldn't have paid for the class and stayed home and slept in at 8am.
he can't talk clearly, he can't write clearly, he doesn't want to help the class in any way, and it seems he don't even know what he is doing. he is constantly contrdicting himself. thank goodness he set up a resetation for the class.
Is inconsiderate about students' feelings. He does not explain anything well. He is very unclear when writing on the board. Basically, you have to teach yourself because he is no help.
worst math teacher i ever had. does nothing but mumble to himself. can't explain anything. doesn't answer questions. he is terrible
He has to be the worst math professor in the university. He contradicts himself, mumbles as he talks and it seems like he doesnt even understand the course himself. He is not there to help at all.

He absolutely sucks. Leaves me completely frustrated. Someone once asked a question in class and because the person called out instead of raising their hand, he said if we ever had a question, to raise your hand. Kept me from feeling free to ever ask.
This prof has got to be the worst ever! HE talks to the board not to the class, doesnt answer any questions. Exams are really hard, lots of homework. Doesnt even teach so unless u can teach urslef, dont take his class!!!! u will be sorry if u do!
Worst profosser I have experience at William Paterson. Does not teach well at all. Talks a mile per minute and solves the problems without us being able to do and figure them out ourselves. Unable to ask questions in class if we are having a problem...
very smart and good looking
No Comments
Can't teach, can't talk clearly, can't even look his students in the eyes, not much that he can do besides lose his "train of thought"..he grades you only on three hard tests..your effort/participation doesn't matter to him at all, so don't even
i don't think he's that bad. sure, he speed through everything, but it could be a lot worse. he could be rosar.
HE IS THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!! DON'T EVER TAKE HIS CLASS AND IF YOU DO, DON'T ASK HIM FOR HELP BECUASE HE WOULD NOT HELP YOU. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN SO DONT TAKE HIS CLASS. YOUR EFFORT DOESNT MEAN ANYTHING TO HIM.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Half the time he stands at the board trying to do the hw problem and he won't even be able to solve it. What the hell? Can't teach and wouldn't even know if anyone was sitting in the class behind him.
Luckily Contemporary Mathematics is really easy. He is really unhelpful and looks at the wall when he is talking to the class. He writes things on the board and then says nevermind and erases it after the students have copied it down.

terrible.... worst experience in my 3 years of college. better off not even goin to his class and just staying home and studying the book. this guy didnt even hand out self assessment sheets, cause he probably knows hes terrible.
if you need math 140 this is your best bet. even though he is still horrible
i liked him
Not too bad.
oh my god..torture!!does NOT help you, does Not look at you and his tests suck...goodluck
The quality of teaching at WPU is poor....not only this guy.
He was sometimes very fast and unclear, but some days were better than others. I went to him for x-tra help and he was great then. He's more helpful one on one. I give him credit though, he really knows his stuff and is a great guy. Give him a chance. ;)
he's a very unclear professor who does not know how to put things in simple terms. i think he is the only person who can make simple arithmetic seem like rocket science. math is fairly easy. the few chapters are kinda difficult, then it gets easier. get a tutor and you'll do ok.
He's arrogant, doesn't clarify what he's saying and once he's explained it, that's all you'll get out of him. He grades on a curve, so that may help. Boring class, go to Academic Support. Trust me, it's not Miller time.
DONT TAKE HIM!!!
don't take him! terrible. smart guy but everyone is not fit to be a teacher. he treats his students like they're math wizzes like him. expects us to know stuff we haven't learned. doesn't give good reviews (very bad teaching skills). i even watched him ignore a student who had a question in class.
Not a bad teacher, but don't expect an easy time. Explains the theory behind calculus quite well, and offers decent help IF YOU ASK. Curves. If you're not afraid of numbers, give this guy a try.
very hard, but talk to him and if you go for extra help you will pass. I was a math idiot got a c with help from miller
Very simple here people - - DONT TAKE THE GUY - hes the last one in the class before its starts and the first one out, doesnt help u at all or answer your questions when ur confused. Just goes right on teaching and leaves u lost
This guy may know his stuff, BUT HE CAN'T ****ING TEACH! Avoid him if you can. Another Professor that makes me wonder how the **** he was tenured, and how the **** he's still allowed to teach.
Dr. Miller should not be a teacher. I took contemporary math and he "taught" us logic instead. His tests are really hard and he ends up having to give a 20 point curve. If you ask a question he won't answer and usually makes you fee stupid. He goes unbelievably fast too
I had him for Modern Algebra. He was hard in class but if you went to office hours he would definetly help you out. He does curve big time so if your not brain dead, you will pass with a decent grade !
Please if you want to pass Calc 2 don't take him, he doesn't know his material either. The problems he doesn't know how to do he brushes off to the side. I mean he's supposed to have a Ph D in math and he doesn't know problems that the math tutors downstairs can do.
I don't know who's worse him or Dr. Waldron! Stay away from this man he is evil & if by chance you do get close, please do not look him in the eye, you may DIE! He cares about himself & no one else, he just stands at the board and teaches, doesn't allow you to ask questions & will NOT help you at all! He's mean and has social aniexty...his hair igr
HE SUCKS. he has absolutley no personality and laughs at the dumbest things. He sucks at teaching, ignores students questions, and just blurrs past things. At least i knew what i was doing before hand, and anything i didnt know how to do i had to teach myself. He needs a haircut badly too.
He goes increadibly fast and speaks faster then he writes. Has a host of wierd manarisims, such consitantly walking backwards into the same chair and being surprised. He gives a ton of HW and dosn't know what to do because the book and hand outs have stupid instructions. Reluctent to help you but will if you act serious. Hard but you can get an A.
PLAIN AND SIMPLE: He goes wayyy too fast, is not clear at all, doesn't help you, has no personality, at the end of class the chalkboard looks like the equation for traveling through time while figuring out the phsyics of the universe. Very hard to pass this class. DOn't take it if you wanna slack. He looks like a clown too....LITERALLY.
he goes way way way to fast, he barely stops to breathe between topics, if you know the subject somewhat before, you may by able to follow but more likely youll just be more confused, he walks into the same chair 4-5 times a class, and he laughs at random times, he knows his math but you wont dont take him
His class is like a pubic hair on a toilet seat....eventually you're going to get pissed off.
Doesn't care about his students. One of my close relative died and I told him that I didn't have time to study for the test. He still have me an F. What does he want? Corpse? Never taking him again
Total ****!!! I have never met a more arrogant piece of**** in my life.
its a weed out course and he definately treats it that way. His teaching is impersonal
If you can keep up with a professor teaching at a speed of a cheetah, read unreadable chalkboard writing, unclear concepts, then this is the professor for you!

Very rude, and not a very good teacher. I could teach the information better than him
He is a no-B.S. kind of guy, and has some annoying mannerisms. But, the guy knows his stuff, and he isn't unfair, I will give him credit for that. He curved the tests a lot, and always asks if people have homework questions. I hate to say it, but math isn't supposed to be easy. He could have been a lot worse. At least he speaks English.
this teacher is really horrible...couldnt stand him at all..he is the first one of the door so u cant even ask questions at the end of class if you want..he way of teaching is aite..He knows his stuff but he doesnt know how to teach it rite..i really wouldnt recommend this profossor..IF you have no choice than you should take him or else dont...

This is seriously the worst professor at this school. He feels that if you are in upper math that you should be on your own. Doesn't curve, comes late, leaves early, hard to get a hold of, talks into the board while writing super fast and very poorly. If you can't keep up you are done. Smart, nice guy when you do get a hold of him but cant teach!
This guy knows his stuff ,but is not a very good teacher. He's always 10 minutes late<i mean every class. He rushes thru the lecture and is always trying to get out early. I recomend another teacher.
Got an A but only because i understood most of the material in advance. Majority of the class flunked. Teaches innefectivly, rushes through examples, and generally does not answer questions. Showed up at least 10 min late and always left as early as possible.
He is extremely tough and does not show interest for whether students understand the material. Also he has a very negative demeanor. One positive note is that he does curve.
This teacher is unenthusiastic, unhelpful, late almost everyday coming to class and has been one of the worst teachers that I have had throughout my educational career. I do not recommend him.
Insightful teacher of Calc
take notes on everything & study them!..he talks to the board & stares at the ceiling in the back of the room but he tells u everything u need to know to pass.. attendance & lateness doesnt matter..2 tests & a final = ur grade..hw doesnt count but do it cuz it helps u learn & understand the material better! he curves tests too! .. he's NOT that bad
Dr. Miller is a horrible person AND a horrible professor. Wont even hold the door4u when u r 2 ft behind him. His class notes DO NOT help with the homework he assigns and he repeatedly refers to everything we go over like "oh well its pretty BASIC". he does not understand how much we all suck at math to be in that class 2begin with.
i have never had a professor for a 2x a wk 1hr 15min class who arrived late for every session and not only ended early, but was literally the first one out of the classroom after every meeting. the two sessions we have with him are not enough, he does not teach, he is the devil and he should get some new long sleeve polo shirts and comb his hair
Do not take his class. Took him for Summer session, rushes through the class, NEVER came on time and ALWAYS left early. If you want to pass his class you have to study on your own. A lot homework, takes around 2-3 hrs to do it.
summer ATF: The pace was approp. for college level (esp. for a summer course). Complaints about pace should be directed inward not outward. i.e. Its a matter of being fit enough to keep up or not. We finished the course syllabus so the pace was exactly perfect. The tests are fair - the homework is harder (not mandatory) - to be continued..
On tests he gives partial credit for answers YOU GOT WRONG. I accented that b/c I was tired of hearing ppl saying that they should have got more partial cred than they did 'b/c it was obvious they knew what they were doing". I thought his bridge building analogy said it best:(paraphrasing) engineers dont get partial cred when the bridge falls down
His tests are a little hard, but you have to study the homework that he assigns to you. For those who say he is not helpful at all, then some of you are probally too lazy to ask after class for help.. He'll stay with you after class and in between breaks he'll help you if you just simply ask. Overall, study the book and hw.. it REALLY HELPS!!!!
he is ridiculous, NEVER answers emails (which he should get in trouble for), doesn't even try to motivate you to solve the problem he does it by himself in 30 seconds and moves on, barely acknowledges his students. he has no soul and it is horrendous that william paterson still offers him a job.
Point blank he is not a good teacher. I don't know if something happened but he is the most depressed, saddest man I had ever seen in my life. He does not look at the class but at the back wall the ENTIRE class period. He seems to know everything about math but in the end of the class you won't know anything.Just don't take his class for you sake.
He is without a doubt the worst professor I have ever had. He shows up for class 15 minutes late and lets his class leave 15 minutes early. He knows the material but does not teach it. A student will ask him a question and he will by pass them as if they do not exist. He does not help his students at all. He also does not respond to emails. Never t
His tests are similar to the book. Sometimes he put 1 or 2 questions from the lectures. There are 2 in class exams and the final exams. The in class exams consists of 10-11 questions. He doesn't collect homework and attendance is not mandatory. Read the book do all the homework and don't listen to his study tips. Over all he is ok I recommend him.
this guy always comes into the bathroom at the same time as me and he never washes his hands. ever.
hes not that bad hes just a little weird. he stares over everyones heads and looks at the chalkboard in the back of the room. he isnt that helpful, i asked him a question about webassign and he went off on a different topic.
he barley looks at the class, he comes about 15 minutes late, there's only 3 tests (2 tests, 1 final), and it is hard to pay attention because he is so monotone. The only reason I got a good grade is because math is a subject I am good at and what I didn't understand, I taught it to myself. I do not recommend him.
worst prof i've ever had. he makes easy topics WAY more confusing than they need to be and never explains fully. if someone has a question about something because he didn't teach it clearly, he gets annoyed and gives a quick answer. seems like he doesn't care if you understand or not. would not recommend.
really not a bad teacher. Very monotone but if you do the work you will do well
Very monotone professor hard to understand because he does not stop for a second. Will go to all extremes to not help out students and avoid any contact. AVOID taking at all cost. You've been warned.
very difficult to understand, monotone and will go on and on without knowing if anyone is following. Avoids helping students. do not take him!
This guy is awful. He seriously doesn't care about what he's teaching whatsoever. Took a summer course with him, he told us at beginning of the course that if we showed up 10 mins late, don't even come into class. Then he showed up at least 10-15 mins late EVERY CLASS. Doesn't explain things well either.
Lmao omg he makes easy things look sooo confusing I can't even, just self teach the stuff thru the book and you'll do fine ;)
Good thing about him are the tests are not that hard and no surprises are on the exam, well um that's basically it. Bad things are, he's always late to class, his lectures are never clear and 2 the point, and he over-explains some of the easy things to make them sound confusing. Take him if you want an okay grade. Don't take if you want to learn
If you are not a test taker do NOT take his class, he looks at numbers... 40% midterm & 60% final = your final grade does not take your homework or attendance into consideration when calculating your final grade
Went to tutoring everyday... still managed to fail the first test. I am a math major, hes just a horrible professor. Not helpful at all. Don't take him unless your ready to teach yourself..
He acts if he does not want to even be in the classroom to teach. He is very vague and his examples never matched the homework or his test problems. He gives two tests and the final exam. I learned nothing from his class and only missed one lecture. If you are good at teaching yourself then this is the class for you.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He does not care about his students. Miller just comes into class (late), lectures you about a section in the book, talking to himself and not showing you what he actually did to solve the problem. This class is 100% easier if you just do all the MyMathLab assignments and show up to class before the tests. Worst ever!!
He is an awful professor, on the first day of class everyone talked about his review on the site. Hoping he'd be a better professor my hopes were shot down, and after it laid on the ground it was shot several times more. Do not take this professor.
Probably the worse, if not THE WORSE, professor in the university! He does not know how to teach math and follows everything the textbooks says even though he doesnt know it himself! 2 in class test and a final if you take pre calc. Only benefit was he was an easy grader and would give partial credit if u made an attempt! AVOID AT ALL COST!
I took him for precalc thinking he couldn't be THAT bad. HE IS. On the first day of class, he spent about 20 minutes lecturing about predicting the future (yup, you read that right) and the rest of the course was filled with pointless ramblings, vague explanations, etc. If you need precalc as a prereq for other math classes, don't take his class!!
One of the few classes I actually learned something from at WPU. Miller is great Monotone yes but very smart and fair. Honestly never studied or did HW just showed up to class and LISTENED and got B also gained value able knowledge on personal finance he is a great teacher. Grading format is stressful only 3 exams 25% 25% 50% but generous grader
Precalc with him was average. Not too many positives. Biggest cons: Monotone, looks up instead of maintaining eye contact, will put you to sleep sometimes. You need to do the homework to learn. There is a lot of homework but just do the work and you will be fine.
He is great if you have already taken Calculus 1 and failed it. He doesn't give out study guides but is an easy grader. He gives points for everything. As long as you are on the right track, he will give you credit for the work you have shown. Most people will say he is bad but he gives you a chance to ask questions most students stay quiet
This professor is so monotone . Which only makes the class go to sleep .He rushes through subject matter so you realy have to pay attention . He comes late to class everyday , it didnt bother me but just letting you know . I kinda felt bad for him at times because he would try to relate to class but it'll fall flat .I recommend you dont take it .
This teacher didn't give our class any study guides. How am I suppose to know what to study? He gives too much homework. He gives homework in the textbook every class and he doesn't grade it. He teaches too fast. He doesn't curve tests. He always comes late to class and ends class early, doesn't give extra credit. He has horrible hand writing.
Literally one of the toughest professors I've ever had. Doesn't give you examples. very monotone voice. The class is a lecture basically. Doesn't really help or answer questions the way you need. He goes entirely too fast so if you're lost in the class good luck trying to stay on task. Heavy grader and expects you to already know how to do things
He was the worst professor I've ever had. He was about 5-10 minutes late to every class and doesn't seem to care about the students. His lectures are not very helpful, he is a poor teacher. I would avoid him.
He is terrible and doesnt care if his students succeed. He speeds through lecture like if we can understand his hand writing and what he writes on the board. His lecture notes does not correlate with mymathlab hw (15%ofgrade) & tests are made up, not even from the hw. So basically you need to teach yourself and have other resources other than him.
Would not recommend him to anyone. Rushes through all chapters and works and often makes minor errors. Very soft spoken man so its easy to get bored & fall asleep in class. Doesnt really like answering questions in class and looks at the ceiling while teaching. If you take his class I strongly recommend tutoring after every class
The first class I ever failed. I honestly feel bad for him, but the guy lacks common sense. Doesn't give a clear description of what to expect on tests/mid-term/final. It was a guessing game and I spent hours studying useless material that I didn't need to. Honestly, spare yourself and take it online/or with a different professor.
Is a robot and has no emotion when teaching. Rushes through topics and is very difficult to pay attention to for longer than 10 minutes
If you're really good at math, you should be fine. But if you are not good at math , avoid him. He's really smart, but doesn't know how to properly convey his material to his students. His grading criteria consist of 3 exams. 2 are 25% each and the final is 50%. Gives hw and doesn't grade, attendance doesn't count. He will confuse you!
I passed his class because I already knew algebra very well. Pro tip, if you want to show up for attendance then leave, don't bother, because he only takes attendance for potential extra credit if you need it. My peers that didn't know algebra well at all had a lot of trouble, and he was extremely boring anyway. Would take again for ez A tho lol.
Professor Miller does not speak directly to anybody. He does not engage students in class. He does not post grades throughout the semester. He assigns a lot of homework, but never checks it which is good, but overall the class is just very boring. It can also be hard to keep up, because he talks as if students already know the material.
His handwriting is completely illegable. He goes through material fast without making sense of any of it, and assigns the homework after. His examples and demonstrations of the lessons are all over the place and he doesn't stop to see if anyone has any questions. Take him if you're already good at math, but be prepared to teach yourself.
Whatever you do, do not take this professor. Avoid him at all costs, all he does is lecture all class and doesn't stop for peoples' questions. He assigns quizzes that you do not have enough time to complete through an online course that you have to pay for.
Very disrespectful with students that dare to tell him that his writing is illegible. He does not care about what you learn. I had to take this class because I had no other option; I knew what to expect from him but was still surprised by how bad he is at teaching. Worst professor in this university, we are so unfortunate of having him in faculty.
Does not properly teach in class. Spent most of the semester teaching myself the material. Handwriting is so bad. Can't even understand it. Writes like a little child. Would not come to class everytime if he did not take attendance. Worst prof I ever got so far.
Many students may think Professor Miller is a difficult instructor but in fact, he is a fantastic instructor. You have to ask questions if you don't understand something. He also gives homework and you HAVE to do the homework so you can have a better understanding of the lecture.
