He is the best! He's always approachable, understanding, and very smart! I have taken 3 classes with him and enjoyed every minute. The way he presents history inspired me to change my major to history-- that's how good he is.
Great teacher, very interesting and fun to listen to. Everything in the class is taught with extreme clarity.
One of the most esteemed and brilliant teachers that this school has to offer. A man that truly loves his subject and knows how to interest his students. I have taken 4 classes with him and have learned more from him than all the teachers combined. A++++
Encourages class participation but when students try to engage him he can be condescending preventing some students from participating and being singled out.
Quizes are multiple choice. Essay mid-term & final. Not bad if you prepare for them. Who would vote hot?!?!?
Funny guy. Great teacher. Made me really consider History for a major. He taught the entire semester without a book, and I rememeber so much even though its been a year since I had his class. Very clear, and gave summaries of what would be on tests.
HIST 110/ECON 120: pretty good professor, especially for lecture based learning. i didn't even have a book the entire semester and relied on the lectures... well i got an A. Recommend this professor.
good teacher alot of tests difficult, alot of reading ..some extra credit
very good professor
i found mr. moore's class to be exciting, i always loved history and he just made it more interesting for me. it was my first time to be in forum, but it didn't feel that way in his class. i felt really relax and i was learning alot of information. his accent is great!!
I Loved this class! Lectures very interesting and easy to follow. 5 quizzes and 2 exams. Exams are easy if you study the guide. He gives the questions ahead of time. I highly recommend his class. Accent is pretty hot too.
Prof. Moore was very helpful in every aspect of the class. Always wanting us to do better in all areas of the class.
Lucky are the students encouraged and inspired by an excellent delivery, in an engaging Sean Connery manner. His vast knowledge of history is peppered with humor and enthusiasm. He leads us back into time and brings the past to the present. It's a life changing experience...BEST OF THE BEST @ GWC!!
Took him in 2002 Fall. You will love his britsh perpective on american history while fullfilling a requirement. Very interesting lectures... Like history channel. Take moore if you want a great history experience!
Awesome teacher! Makes history interesting. Might be hard to understand because of his N. England accent, but nontheless, a great teacher.
Liked it so much, I took it twice. Liked it but slept through the final the first semmester. Is a good teacher. He makes the subject interesting and understandable. Expect to go to class every day though, because he adds alot of information and uses the text as a tool rather than scripture.
A great lecturer with a great voice that you won't fall asleep to. Makes things very clear. Pretty funny as well. Tests are mostly from the lectures and are not very hard but I wouldn't call them easy either.
5 tests, plus mid and final, based on lectures and book. Easy enough if you show up and pay attention. Lectures very informative and interesting.
very good teacher. just attend lecture n take good notes u will get an A
Very good teacher, very good at what he teaches.
It's hard to sit in his class, but his accent makes it kinda interesting...
He is very clear and you have to not listen or not show up to fail this class. This class is very easy and made history interesting.
Moore has a Sean Connery thing going on. I love his voice, he is so hot. I had no trouble sittiing through his class. He is a little gruff, but loves to teach. He is a great professor!
the best history teacher i have ever had. he goes over many of the materials that other history teachers tend to leave out and he actually makes history interesting - and that's saying something. highly recommended if you're planning to take history 170.
I have taken a few classes with Professor Moore and I am very glad that I have. He makes things very clear and involves his students in the lecture. His accent is HOT, and he manages to make History a fun and inderesting subject which is something other Professors cannot seem to do.
ive always been bad or mediocre at history but he made the class really interesting, especially since he has been to a lot of the historical sites. also, everything was much more interesting because of his british accent, haha.
Moore is a cool teacher, his accent sometimes makes it hard to understand him, but hes a good teacher
awsome teacher i would love to take more classes from him, its an easy class if you attend because all the tests are based on the lectures. makes history fun.
Prof. Moore is a Golden God.
This is a class on the economic history of the United States. Some would find both classes boring on their own let alone combined, but Professor Moore makes both the economics and the history clear for his students.
I love Professor Moore, I think that he is a great history teacher. He adds cool little facts about history that aren't in the book and he is very clear about his requirements. He is one of my most favorite teachers.
For an older dude he is hot. Love the accent. It makes learning more fun!
he goes off on random side notes all the time... it is very confusing
This happens to be my favorite class taken this semester. He's incredibly knowledgeable and lectures are very interesting. If you have even the slightest interest in Western Civ., take this class. Actually, even if you don't, take this class anyway! You won't regret it!

Professor Moore is a totally cool teacher. He's British, so he has a bit of a different persepctive on British/Irish history than an American teacher would. His lectures are fairly clear and informative, and I do love the accent.
Prof. Moore is my favorite teacher of all time. He is hyper interested in his subjects and his passion is contagious. I took him twice and was going to take him if he taught the next part of American History but he didn't. Plus his Brit stylings add are like Bond and Snatch combined, which is hard to pull off without looking like your trying to hard. This guy rules the school!
The best teacher i have had so far... made me more interested in economics..
He is my fave teacher at GWC and so far in my entire college carrer. He made me consider changing my major to history. He loves his subject and teaches it well. If he taught more classes, I'd take them all!! Definitely take his class!
This guy is the best history teacher I have ever had. I would take another class with him. He does have have am accent but that doesn't take away from him being one of the best teachers at GWC. So if you a history major or just interested in history take a history class with him.
awsome english dude, made history easier to swallow. enjoyed being there
I love this guy!! He is the best teacher I have ever had. I never even cared about history before taking his class, now I love it. He explains things very well and really creates an interest among his class. I won't take a history class unless he is teaching it.
A rare breed of history professors. He can make a 3 hour lecture seem like as if you're watching a movie. He's the best... seriously..
The finest History professor you can have for the history of the British Isles, Western Civilization Early U.S. History and the Economic History of the U.S. Do the reading, go to class and you should be able to earn an A, and love it.
absolutely awesome. the ONLY history class i ever had where i wanted to show up and not miss a single class
I liked him until I emailed him for exam guidelines and he just about told me i was stupid. He said a sarcastic comment and implied i was stupid. I don't like teachers who make fun of you and don't help.
Professor Moore is a fantastic teacher. I have always been interested in History, but he made the experience truly outstanding. This is NOT your usual boring History class. You'll learn the "story behind the story" on many events in history. More importantly, you'll be treated like a college student, not like someone still in hight school.
Professor Moore is simply a fantastic teacher. He made this course very interesting. He treats his students like adults and not children. This is a lecture class. There is no hand-holding. If you don't read and pay attention, you will not do well. His midterm and final are all essay. Having said that, this isn't a hard class. Great teacher.
Lectures were interactive and very interesting.
He Is the best..easy
Moore is a wonderful teacher. Western Civ. was one of my favorite classes. His tests are not very difficult as long as you pay attention in class. I didn't really bother with the book.
This is by far the best history teacher I have ever had. He makes it so interesting and you never get bored in his class. Moore is the best at what he does. Go Moore.
I hate History, and took this class once with another teacher. I had to retake it because I failed. I never fail classes. Mr. Moore was the best history teacher I have ever had. He focused on why things happened. He wants you to understand history, not regurgitate facts. I will say it again, he is the best history teacher ever,I got an A. :)
I learned a lot from his lectures. He is a well educated man that knows what he is teaching. He is a easy passing grade if you go to class and take notes. One of the best college professors I have had.
He's an informative and knowledgable guy. He kept history interesting and I learned quite a bit. I would recommend the class.
Brilliant professor. Knowledgeable and passionate about history, he transfers this to his students. Lectures are engaging and his handouts are relevant. You leave class knowing history! Grades fairly.
His tests and mid-term/final is some what easy. The class itself is very interesting to me, so it wasn't too hard, you have to study a lot though. Overall a great professor!
Not going to lie, this class was pretty tough, but I'm glad I took it. He's a great teacher and I learned so much more than I had anticipated.
Best teacher I ever had! I hate history and I found myself wanting to go to his classes. He is very knowledgeable and makes class very interesting. We had 5 quizes and he dropped the lowest one. The mid-term was a little difficult but the final was easy. His tests and quizes are mainly from the lectures, so go to class and listen! No homework...
Wonderful teacher. I looked forward to his class every week, and had no problem sitting still and listening. He's so intriguing! If you hate History-take this class because he will help you love it with ease.
I hated History class because it is borning, but after taking his class, im looking forward in taking HIST 175. He makes everything fun and he has an accent which makes it more fun. His style is kinda hard: 5 quizzes a mid-term and a final. If you listen to his lectures very well, you can pass with a B without reading the book
Tough class and hard to take 3 hours on a thursday night, but Mr. Moore made it very enjoyable, almost a pleasure. Very humorous, very helpful and loves his subject which is inspiring. Would take a class with him again without question.
I was in his study abroad program this summer in London and he is the best teacher in the world to experience a new country with. Do the study abroad program with him. It will be the best experience of your life. He is a great teacher, very helpful, funny, intelligent, interesting, etc. Hard tests though. You will need to study.
I went on his London summer study abroad program and he is literally one of the best teachers I have had to date. He is incredibly smart and loves his work. He is very funny and makes class enjoyable...imagine that! I would really recommend everyone to go on his study abroad program. It is truly the best expierence ever! Take Professor Moore!
great teacher, provides awesome information, makes class fun, has a cool accent, i would very highly suggest taking this class, it is way worth it
Best professor I've had!!! It took the study abroad program in London. He is so knowledgable and helpful. Tied material into our travel very well. Funny and topics always of interest. Tests are hard, but once you get his style the next is easier. I hope to take a class at GWC w/ him too!
Amazing professor. One of the only full-time professors at GWC. Class based on 5 quizzes,2 essays, and must read a short book. He changed my outlook on History, definitely take him!
Very interesting fellow, esp from US history from a british influence, gives you the other side of the story. he's a keepker.
A way cool teacher. You will need to study to get an a. You also want to attend every class to get a good grade on the quiz's. He's not much for the book. Almost everything comes from his lectures. If you study A for sure
really cool guy, really funny too, makes history very interesting, makes you want to come to class every week to learn more, teaches only the important things, quizzes and test are really fair, straight from the lecture, he tells you want he's looking for on midterms and final, need to study 2 get an A, not hard 2 get a B though, highly recommended
don't take this teacher if you care about your gpa and you want to transfer to the school you want because he is different now compared to what previous students said about him since he changed his style + the book to make the class harder than before.. i'll studied super hard all night and day for his exams and i always end up with a bad grade ):
I took his class on this fall'o8. It's hard. Some quizes were hard. Some were ok. Essay paper for final were too much for me. I don't like it. But he was really good US history teacher.
i dont know why students like this teacher so much. he is hard and you could hardly understand what he is saying. his classes were loooong and soooo boring. i hated them and had to end up dropping the class because i was getting a D. hes not that great!
ive taken two of his classes, British history (study abroad program) and US history of economics. Both classes are easy. He is a great teacher and is willing to work with the students. Really good guy. Take his class and if you get a chance go to london with his study abroad program. It will be the best thing you have ever done!
I must say that I've always hated history but Professor Moore keeps you intrested in the material especially in a 3hr. night class. I recommend him because he is a great teacher but you definetly must study and pay attention to pass his class...it might not be as easy as other classes but you will def. learn something!
He is a good speaker and his accent kept me interested. The lectures are very important for notes and if you read the book you should get a B or A easily. He seems very easy going and nice. Pretty good history class.
Class if fairly easy. His quizzes are based solely on his lectures, just a few questions are out of the book. Midterm and final are essay questions, that he tells you exactly what to study. Easy B, must study hard for quizzes to get an A. Has an accent but not hard to understand. Makes class very interesting.
This prof is the best at West for History classes. The negative comment below is evidently from a student who cannot write properly and Moore requires his students to read and write! He makes his learning objectives very clear and will keep you interested with a different slant on history. If you're serious about getting an education take him.
Prof. Moore is great. I wasn't sure in the beginning of this class (Econ Hist), but he really can pull you in if you continue to pay attention. Definitely not the easiest at times, but is willing to help and wants you to see the big picture. Everyone should take this class with him.
Prof. Moore is way cool. I took his Economic History class and found him really engaging, even though I was dreading taking it. There are easier profs but he will help if your ask. Knows how to make students pay attention, loved the accent.
Excellent professor. Knows the subject very well. Very helpful, bases 90% of test material on lectures and the other 10% is specific areas in the book. Makes a lot of sense.
I was a senior in high school while taking this class. He is very knowledgable over the subject and if you ask for help he will help you. His technique in teaching is by powerpoint and note taking. It really was not that hard, one will just have to put forth effort in order to recieve a satisfying grade. Highly recommend taking.
i think moore is an okay teacher, although i dropped his class because i wasn't doing so well.. i still enjoyed it, and i hope others do too! take him! just read the book & study the notes, and you'll do fine!
Very interesting teacher. History is kinda boring but he says some interesting stuff, his accent also makes it easier to listen to. No homework, does give quizzes but tells you what to read same goes for the mid term and final. not so bad if you come to class and read.
Prof. Moore is an awesome teacher. Only 5 quizzes and drops the lowest score. Quizzes are based 95% on his lectures and 5% on a specific reading out of the book. The Midtern and Final are essays format, but he tells you exactly what to study. Must attend class for the notes cuz most he says is not on the powerpoint. Overall easy B, must study 4 A!
Prof Moore is really great at teaching history. He's funny and he makes British history fascinating. His tests are written but I just read through my notes and get As on them. The paper at the end is not too bad either. Great professor! I would highly recommend taking this class.
Great class. Economic history of US is very interesting. The multiple choice tests were somewhat difficult for me. I consistently got Bs, but at the end I got an A on the written final and got an A in the class. So take the class but do the reading and study, study, study.
Professor Moore's class was very informative. I would leave the class with so much information my brain wanted to implode. He was helpful and cooperative. His quizzes were on the content that he promised although some questions were tricky. His midterm was half written and half multiple choice. The final determines your grade.
He's a great teacher. Helps & informs when you ask for help. Pretty easy. Just go to class & listen & you'll pretty much get it. And you just gotta read a few pages for the quiz. I would say 95% lecture 5% book. Just pay attention and you'll be fine.
Like a drill seargent he is crystal clear in what he expects out of you. Very simple course 120pts for quizzes, 80pt midterm, 100pt final=300pts altogether. I skipped half the lectures, and studied on my own with the help of his study guides and progressively got better on my quizzes. Midterm was very easy, and Final was take home. Learned alot GL!
I loved this class. Professor Moore is very clear in what he expects from you. Most of the info you get from the lectures and the rest from the book. He gives a lot of info, but keeps the class fun and interesting!!!
Moore is Golden West College 'Teacher of the Year' and he really deserves it. I took his Western Civ class and learned soooo much. He is super knowledgable and keeps you interested. He does Study Abroad every summer in London as well.
If you want to pass History then do not take this teacher, I repeat, do not take this teacher!! I got half of all of the questions right on my quizzes, except for the last one, which was a few shy of half of the questions on the quiz. As far as I'm concerned, an F is for someone who had done worse on their quizzes and didn't even try. Worst teache
Not to mention the fact, that he would randomly start telling History stories right in the middle of lectures..so annoying! A whole chapter in the book would cover like 2 questions on the quizzes! That class is a waste of energy and money, since you'll have to take it again. Plus, you'll waste money on the book! Many pple have had 2 take the class
2-3 times just to pass! Once was enough for me, thanks! Intelligent professor, but he doesn't know how to make pple understand the material he's teaching!!
Inspiring prof, deserved the faculty of the yr. award. Last student just sour grapes for a bad grade. Study and be attentive and you will do fine. Recommended.
i've takin moore for economics as well. His structure of teaching is based mostly on lecture and part textbook (5 questions out of 30 on tests). He's very interesting and full of charisma. He relates American history at times to international perspectives making me think outside my centric universe of American interests. He'll turn you into a student
Those that knock this teacher are CRAZY! I hated history based on the endless boring stories and memorizations required by high school teachers. This guy lectures with passion, is clear on what is required and goes over what the test will cover to a T. You MUST be in class since the quizzes are on lecture. I would take this class again easily!
He is a great teacher. No homework required. 25/30 questions on his tests are from lectures so show up to class. You wont be disappointed in this teacher.
hes everything youd want from a teacher. it needs to be emphasized that lecture's important. i went to the lectures for the 1st quiz, got a B, then missed 1 lecture for the next quiz, got a d. he provides all the pg #s in the book, which are 10-20 pgs, that he covers during lecture so its not hard, i was just lazy. evening classes get out at 930
highly recommended for a history teacher!Work hard enough, just as what he says in the syllabus and you'll surely get an A. Im an int'l student but i got an A in this American History class! The best thing is that he always emphasizes what he needs in the quizes.Catchy lectures. Both serious and lenient, helpful and funny teacher. he's the best!!
I took this class only to meet the requirements. He lectures very passionately and doesn't like interruptions. He talks to certain-people though; he would walk away blatantly from me while I'm asking for help or tell me to drop. Chances are you'll like this class if you got the right look.
This class isn't too hard. He teaches okay, mostly about events not significance. It's apparent he doesn't care about you - just wants everyone to learn history. During class, just sit back and listen to lecture.
Great teacher, but make sure you take good notes on his lectures, 95% of his quizes are on his lectures. Attendance is mandatory to understand his lectures, i found the class to be very easy, but he helped because he repeats himself so you get the point or the key terms. Extremely helpful if you just ask.
He is very knowledgeable about history. Made even a night class not too painful! Read what he tells you to, take notes, attend, and you'll be fine. Makes it VERY clear what the exams cover. Great teacher!
I hate history but I loved this class! His accent helps keep u awake & he's not boring. He's very nice & very passionate about his lectures. If he repeats something twice, write it down because it'll be on the quiz.Study guides along w/ page numbers are given before every quiz so u know exactly what to study.Take home final. Easy A,GREAT PROFESSOR!
Let me clear things out; he doesn't play favorites and he's an excellent professor. He is anything but boring. Take this class and you'll have a clear preview of what the semester's all about; book's not required, you can photocopy pages in the library. Be attentive in class, read and you'll get an A. I just don't see how he can be rated so poorly.
Nice teacher, very funny. He's not an easy grader, but tests are cake if you attend lecture. You just need to show up and you can pass the class with ease. I got an A in one class and B in another all while working FULL TIME.
90% of the quizes are from his lectures.. You HAVE to attend every class to do well (A or B). The mid-term is an in class essay, the "final" is a take home paper that he gives you over a month to write, the shorter the better for grading! The only problem I think students have with him is the fact they have to attend EVERY class.
Professor Moore is a PROFESSOR. He won't force you to attend classes but don't be surprised if you get a low grade. He doesn't want to be interrupted when discussing things, it's best to ask him questions during breaks. He really wants you to learn about History. I'm from Asia and I think he taught the American History very well.I'velearned so much
I'm not here to brag about my grades, nor insult those who think the class is hard. The truth is, no matter what reviews are here, you just have to be there yourself. Based on my experience, he's very professional, clear and loves his job. The class was easy, he lays everything out for the class. What to read, pages etc. He's a wonderful professor.
he's really nice and caring......take him if you wanna learn hist., i got an A even i'm not a native speaker and it's the 1st time i studied about American hist.... yr final grade is based on how you do on the last quiz....i didnt do well on the midterm, but i had perfect point on the last quiz 30/30 so he graded my final pretty high...awesome..:))
attendence is mandatory if you wanna pass. show up take notes from the power point and read the reading he assigns you. he even gives you a study guide sheet of what to expect on quizzes, also does review sessions before tests. also good sense of humor tried to made class fun
MOORE IS AN AWESOME TEACHER. He has insane teaching abilities so you have to attend every class to learn the material. Everything he teaches is on the quizzes. Make sure you get a book because it is used for all of the quizzes, midterm and final. This is by far the best history teacher because he makes it very interesting. Totally recommend him!
Really awesome teacher and class! Professor Moore is very structured in the class. Attendance is mandatory in the sense that there is SO much info in each class that if you miss it you're dead on the quizzes. 5 quizzes, midterm paper, final paper. Adds extra points if you're on the edge. Answers questions. Very detailed. Nice person.
Reading is required for the last 5 questions of the quiz so do the required reading. Everything else on the quizzes can be gathered from his lectures which are very thorough. As for the midterm and final you need the book. He is an excellent teacher.
He was the best History teacher I've had in years. Very straight forward and to the point. 5 quizzes, drops the lowest score, mid-term and final paper, that's it. Take notes and read and you'll do fine. I highly recommend taking his classes
He changed my life indefinitely.
gotta love his accent. very knowledgable and fun professor
class is not mandatory, but it is important if you want a good grade. there are five quizzes and the lowest one is dropped. the quizzes are base on lectures. the quizzes have 30 questions. if you attend class it would be easy. the mid-term is a written one in class, and the final is an essay which is easy (don't need any bibliography)
Greatest teacher ever! He is very straight forward, and makes lecture fun to learn. 5 quiz, lowest one will be drop, midterm is written in class, and final is a take home essay(make sure you do well for your quiz n midterm, because he grades your final on how will you did overall on your quiz n midterm scores) :]
Great teacher. Really knows his stuff. If you attend class and listen and take notes during his lecture you will do will on the quizes
I've taken all but his U.S. Hists. He's amazing. Get to know him, ask questions, you will learn. Show up, because you will miss a ton-each class jam packed. Writing exams for his Brit Hists. In-depth research papers. If you care about your grades and education, you'll love this guy and come out of his classes enriched.
First off, I could listen to his lectures for hours! He is British, but has a Scottish accent. His class isn't that difficult, but it is important to go. He doesn't really take attendance though. Projects weren't that difficult. They did require a lot of research. Take his class. You'll learn something.
Tests are hard. Papers are take home but the information is sometimes scares. Take this guy if your a Econ or Hist major.
Excellent! However, you must attend each class or be unprepared for exams...which are written. Also, be prepared to take copious notes from his lectures. His expectation are high...and you will learn!
He's so hard don't take him
He is very straight forward in his teaching, if he presents it in class it will be on the test. If you do the reading you'll ace the class. Best college professor I've had. Highly recommended.
Boring teacher, had to teach myself everything. Didn't really have an interest in history, but he didn't spice my interest whatsoever. Just felt like sleeping in his class.
He's a really nice guy
Very easy class. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you just come and listen, you will do fine. I never even took notes, or studied for the tests, and I got B's and A's. He makes it interesting, it was a good class. You only have to purchase one text book. The final is a take-home essay. Super easy.
Very easy. Very friendly. Very interesting. All you need to know. (:
No study guide. No quiz help. Boring lectures. Not worth taking the class. The only upside is its almost impossible to get anything lower then a C. A 65% is considered a C.
He teaches well and is straight forward about what he's going to test you on, but he was really insulting to me. I asked for help once and he literally laughed in my face, he didn't show up when I scheduled a meeting in his office, he insulted me in the comments on my paper, and also via e-mail when I asked him about one grade I received.
He is a good teacher. I enjoyed his class, and learned a lot. He made History interesting. I recommend him.
Please pay attention to his lectures and understand the topics that he is presenting. The questions asked on the quizzes are soo easy IF you attend class 100% and study. It's not hard unless you didn't put an effort in learning history.I think it's interesting !!
I am not a history major, but he managed to make me so intrigued by it for the first time. he really knows how to draw in your attention and make you really think about the lectures. he is a great teacher and sets you up to succeed if you attend lectures and take notes. quizzes are easy if you pay attention. take this class.
5 quizzes total, he drops the lowest one! for the midterm, we read the assigned pages in the textbook. he will test you on what it's about, pretty easy! the final is a take home written test! I could have done better in this class but I was slacking. It's extremely important to go to class because the quizzes are mostly based on his lectures ~
GREAT TEACHER. You must attend and take notes. He also posts online most lectures. Easy A if you go, pay attention, print out lecture notes, and do a minimal amount of studying. NO homework - just know the info for the quiz.
Professor Moore is one of my favorite instructors at GWC. I loved his class. His lectures are clear and interesting. Make sure you go to every lecture, read the book, and study the notes he post on-line. He is awesome. I highly recommend him!
Took his Econ history class. Attendance is a must in Moore's class, 25/30 of the questions on each quiz are based on lectures, 5 on the "red" book. The "Black" book isn't really needed. If you show up and pay attention, the class will be easy. He is a really clear lecturer
This professor was a delight to have and I have had other classes with this professor as well. He explains everything easily and breaks it down so you understand it on a worldly perspective. However, you must be able to attend the class strictly and listen and do the work, but he makes it very interesting and adds in humor.
I do not recommend david moore. I studied at least 2 hours for each test, went to class everyday, and took great notes and still received a B! His quizzes are so tricky. He words everything so its impossible to get the right answer. I do not recommend
5 exams, 1 written midterm done in class, and a final paper done at home. Lecture based class. Easy A in my opinion. All his exams are based on his lecture so just show up and listen. Also, 5 questions out of the 30 on each exam is from the book. He has an awesome accent that makes his lectures more interesting. Take him!
He has a great accent which makes it interesting, but it is very easy to get bored because well its history. 1 written midterm all based on reading in the book, and 5 quizzes. Show up to class, and read the focus reading and recommended pages and you will be fine
Good teacher, for his British history course he wrote the book so the book follows his lectures word for word. Quizzes are easy, but written portions about British offshore islands were annoying. Make sure to do well on the research paper, it is worth 1/4 of your grade.
Great teacher, my new favorite. His lectures are easy to write notes on and he engages the class by asking them to repeat what he just said. Note: what you repeat always shows up on tests. Book reading was only worth 5 questions on a 30 question test. His accent did make the class harder to get bored in. Doesn't take roll but lectures are important
Man, this professor is off the charts! Very interesting lectures, and fair quizzes. Do a good job on Research assignments and you'll get a passing grade.
His accent makes the content more interesting than it actually is. The course is fairly simple and straightforward, with the only difficulty being a written portion on the midterm and memorizing the order of battles and their names in the civil war.
He looked like the principal from Back to the Future but with aN AWESOME accent! Very intriguing guy with lots to say and teach. I can honestly say i enjoyed his class and would LOVE To take another! he made history fun :)
Best Teacher of my ife no joke! He took material I uesd to think was boring and made it interesting. You won't regretg this class, and if you show up and take notes, you'll pass no problem
Great teacher! Took two of his classes, very clear & his accent makes things more interesting. I highly recommend him! Not very hard if you attend the class and actually pay attention & read what he asks of you. Not difficult.
Really cool guy. Very passionate about history. Not a very approachable guy, but still cool. Class takes work, quizzes can be very tricky. Put in some effort and his classes are very doable. He will bump you up points at the end if you are close to an A. Can be boring lectures, but just take lots of clear notes and your golden.
Lectures are interesting to follow, but quizzes are very tricky. Sometimes, he words everything differently so it is hard to get an A. At least you may end up with B. Pay attention to what he said in class because those things will be on the tests. Reading a book isn't very helpful as he puts something in detail from the book that you never know.
First, the tests and OBIs are way hard! I thought I nailed the OBI but got an F because I answered differently than the majority of the class. I make an outline to show him that answers were straight out of the pg#s he gave us but he only gave me 2 more pts (raised me to a D+) and was pretty rude about it. Regreting taking this class.
He didn't let me take my last quiz when obviously i had enough time to.
The lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. However, quizzes are very tricky as you have to read carefully. 5 quizzes (25 questions based on his lectures, 5 questions based on the assigned readings). Final is take-home paper. He really brings your grade up at the end, as he looks over your performance on all the quizzes and midterm.
This guy is terrible. I was one of the few to initially have 100% in his class as I aced the first quiz, but throughout the class was discouraged as I experienced his lack of interest in his student's academic success. I had an issue one week that every other prof was OK with, while he proceeded to be ecstatic about ruining my gpa. Terrible.
Greatest professor I've ever had. Took him my frosh year, loved him so much I'm on my 3rd class with him. He KNOWS how to teach, and he works HARD to give you the coolest lecture possible. I knew I liked history but every class made me CRAVE for more. Super cool guy too. Your success in class is the lectures and how much you can take from them.
He is very clear and if you really do study, this is an easy A
He is a great professor! He makes it clear on what you need to do to pass. It helped me to record him during class. You need his book ONLY to read the assigned 2 pgs for 5 questions on quiz. He will drop your lowest grade and his mid term and final are idiot proof to pass. You do have to attend his class to receive all the information. I got an A
Great teaching style, my favorite class.
Great teaching style, my favorite class i have taken! I will take more classes from him if i need them!
he uses the same layout for the majority of his classes (I've since taken 3 by him now). divides up the material into 5 sections with 5 quizzes. midterm is usually a small paper of some sort as is the final. there is no inclusive test at the end of the semester. also he drops the lowest quiz score
I've taken five of Professor Moore's classes. I also participated in his Study Abroad program in London, which was a great experience and I highly recommend it. Moore is an incredible teacher. He's not the easiest. Pay attention in lecture, supplement it with focus readings. You will learn more from his classes than the rest of your semester.
Awesome teacher. Keeps class exciting and fun. I don't think anyone didn't like him in my class this semester. I did learn something new every time I came to class and he honestly keeps it interesting. The test are few and the projects are easy. He gets his students!
Professor David Moore's a good instructor for History. His lectures are beneficial, but take notes, even though he posts them on Blackboard. You take 5 tests, one midterm, and a final. There is a lot of reading, and it's interesting. Professor Moore offers the study abroad class in London over the summer and encourages his students to sign up.
I took at least five history classes with this professor. If I didn't transfer to University I'd still be taking classes with him.
This is by far the BEST professor at golden west. He made me love history after taking the class. He's is very straightforward about what to expect and as long as you attend lectures, you'll know exactly whats on the tests. Lectures are long but his accent helps make it interesting lol Highly recommend if you aren't into history!
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G professor...I knew I was going to love the course as soon as I read/watched his introduction. Concise expectations, textbooks, notes, and powerpoints. Does everything he possibly can for you to succeed in his class. You actually want to make him proud. If only all professors were more like him!
Best professor I've ever had. Pay attention to his lectures and do the required reading and you'll be fine. If you're a history major take as many of his classes as you can.
Lectures
Very knowledgeable teacher, really cares about what he's teaching. Lecture hall classes can get pretty boring since it's all lectures, but the material was interesting. No homework or extra credit, just 5 quizzes(lowest gets dropped), midterm, and out-of-class final. Very straightforward on how to get the grade you want, would definitely recommend!
Best History/Economics Professor EVER! His lectures are amazing. Tells stories like no other and keep you involved. I want to take every class he teaches. If you go to class, read the notes he provides and read the book you will do well.
I had Dr. Moore for American History and it was fantastic. First of all, American History taught by a British man is extremely interesting. Second, Dr. Moore is an intriguing story teller with an impressive knowledge of history. It is so important to show up for lecture as 97% of what's on the quizzes is from lecture. I recommend him for sure.
Very knowleable and loves history and cares about the students
Moore's history class was good fun. He is an entertaining character (with northern British accent) and this helps keep your interest in the subject matter, which is very well lectured and easy to understand. Does a great job of explaining themes and connections among historical events. Can get a bit arrogant with his own opinions though.
I would definitely recommend this teacher for true British history. I've noticed someone said arrogant, I mean.. he KNOWS his facts I can tell you that for sure and I did not feel he was in any way rude about our opinions or our answers.. I ended up taking his second class, and I really enjoyed both. I would highly recommend this teacher.
Lectures are so boring, had to read the text just to try to connect things. Print his notes before going to lecture, read the focus readings. He does unit quizes. I would not take again, fist I have ever gotten and not worth it. His midterm was hard, final was take home.
Professor Moore is very inspirational. He knows his subject very well. He is super easy. Just read the book, take notes, and you'll pass with an easy A.
I have no idea what he's like in person but I would steer clear of his online classes. I have never had a lazier online teacher (which is saying a lot). The class was basically self-guided with no instruction from him. Some online teachers really put in the effort to engage with you- he does not. Class is all just pre-made PowerPoint lectures.
I took his class in 1995. He was the best educator Ive ever seen. He was engaging and very knowledgeable. I thank him for the opportunity to learn.
Professor Moore is that kind of professor that is worth attending class for. His lectures are always engaging, and provide that sense of charisma that you rarely find from other professors. Also the fact that he comes from a British background makes it even more fun! He really knows his stuff and I respect him for that. All around, great professor!
Hurry and take his class before he retires! 5 quizes and he drops your lowest quiz score, one midterm which is like fill in the blank - and take home final paper. Best history professor at gwc in my opinion, wants you to look at history from both sides. Lecture notes are available online. You should use textbook to study for the quiz
