I never had a history class like Professor Morton's before. His lectures are a lot of fun, we watch a lot of video clips and usually talk about it afterwards. I just started his class, but I think its going to be a fun semester!
Really a sweet guy. I recommend him to everyone. History was always the most boring subject for me but he makes it relatively interesting and you can tell he knows what he is talking about.
Professor Morton made me like history class even more. His lectures are fun and intriguing with lots of videos and discussions. There are a lot of short writing assignments along with a few pop quizzes through out the semester. I would take another one of his classes for sure.
He really helps and is super engaged in learning because he loves what he teaches. I am taking him again next semester for the next history class. Pop quizzes are in here, but if you listen, you'll be fine.
I am so glad that I took Professor Morton's class. The workload is minimal, weekly Tumblr posts, which only have to be 250 words each. There are pop quizzes, but as long as you show up to class and pay attention, you will be fine. Professor Morton makes me enjoy going to class everyday. I would definitely recommend him.
Professor Morton's honestly a great professor. Tumblr posts each week with 4 pop quizzes and the lowest one dropped. The midterm and final are essays but he gives you sort of a cheat sheet. I would go to class every day because of the pop quizzes that you can't make up if you miss. Lectures, power points, and videos used make it easy to understand
Morton is great--he's funny and he makes his lectures interesting. The hardest thing about the class were his pop quizzes. Other than that, there is one homework assignment per week and a midterm and final. Not a tough grader, but likes to see that you put in an effort. Go to class and keep up with the work and you're good-to-go!
You gotta love Morton, he knows most of us really don't care that much about history but he finds ways to keep things interesting. Dosen't take attendance, but if your not there for the lectures you'll be lost. They're worth going to, really you'll learn something new each day.
Professor Morton gives a very different and interesting perspective on American History. I feel like all of my other history classes talked about facts and dates and not the stories behind them. He does a great job of combining the two, and as long as you show and do the work you'll be just fine.
I've never been good at history and I always use to get a solid C in high school. Professor Morton helped me better grasp history and even made me enjoy it. He focuses more on stories of the people rather than dates and battles. There's four pop quizzes but one of them is dropped and as long as you pay attention in class you'll be fine.
Ive learned so much in this from the Civil War and the freeing of the slaves to the period preceding the equal rights and the presidency and assassination of JFK. I have learned that the United States have undergone, fought, and helped through many wars. I am now more patriotic because I have learned so much about the country we live in.
Professor Morton is extremely likable and made class worth going to. He assigns one tumblr post a week, four pop quizzes for the whole semester, and then a midterm and final. The workload wasn't overwhelming and I feel as though I learned a lot this semester. I definitely recommend going to class because it helps a lot with the tumblr posts quizzes
Professor Morton is one of the best history teachers I've had. He's basically a walking book of information. I've never been a fan of history, but he teaches like a story. 4 "pop" quizzes (study the notes he posts on webcourses, and you'll be fine). Midterm and final are easy just kinda long, and weekly Tumblr posts (not a fan, BUT DON'T FORGET!!!)
Prof. Morton is an outstanding teacher. His lectures were entertaining and interesting. He put his lecture notes and Powerpoints on WebCourses, as we entered each chapter. However, it is necessary to come to class because Morton gives history clarity and dimension. Homework is manageable, one 250 word essay discussing a chapter per week. TAKE HIM!
4 pop quizzes one is dropped. Fill in the blank, you will usually know when they are, fill in the blank. 2 exams all essays for Gordon rule, mid term and final. All you have to do is write a lot on the subject and youll get an a. Go to class so you can know when the quizzes are itll be an easy A
Different from any history class I had before. Its a lot like watching a show or a movie, he basically tells you exactly what your going to get tested on in the notes all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show. I learned a lot but also really enjoyed coming even if there wasn't a quiz. He should host a his own show on netflix, I'd watch it!
Professor Morton was the best. He really knows his history and is passionate about teaching it. The class was 4 pop quizzes with the lowest being dropped, a midterm, final, and one tumblr post per week with a minimum of 250 words. Go to class and take notes and it should be pretty easy to do well in there. Strongly recommend
Best class I have so far this semester! The videolecture combo helps me to understand a lot of what's being talked about. 5 quizzes, which if you study for are ok. Its fill in the blank with no word bank, which would be helpful, but as long you show an effort you'll be all right.
I didn't know what to make of this class, history's not my best subject. But Prof Morton makes it easier to understand. His lectures are kinda long and has a lot to say about everything, it can be hard to catch everything. He's easier to talk to in person and will do everything to help you out. Just show up and do the work and he'll work with you
would take again. pretty easy class.
Morton is very passionate about history & makes class interesting sometimes but if history isn't your subject & you need to know whenwhat to study, I don't recommend him. The quizzes are all pop & fill in the blankshort answer which makes them tough. The final is the same way. He offers help but I still struggled & was stressed all semester.
History has never been one of my favorite subjects due to the overwhelming about of dates and the million names you have to learn, but this class was very different. This class has helped me focus on the core material and understanding of the events rather than knowing the exact day that it happen which has really helped me learn more valuable info
Definitely one of the better professors I've had at UCF. He's pretty nice and approachable about anything. He actually tries to make the class interesting by showing cool videos during his lectures. The tumblr posts were easy and the pop quizzes are straight from the notes. Class might seem a little long sometimes but it doesn't get super boring.
I found the course very interesting. The lectures were extremely coherent and very interesting to listen to. I had a good understanding of the topics that we covered without needing to study. The tests were set up so that specific knowledge was needed, but that knowledge was properly covered in the lectures, so I never felt cheated.
This course reminded me a lot of the IB US History courses I took in high school, but more condensed and fast-paced. I enjoyed his style of teaching and beliefs as a professor.I much prefer learning how and why events happen to simply memorizing WHY they happened, so this style was ideal. The random YouTube and History Channel videos helped me too
Usually History classes have been a bore for me, and the information goes in through one ear and out the other. The way this class was taught gave me a well-rounded understanding of how the history took place not only because before each lecture we were given background information to go from and then paint the bigger image of the history itself.
Professor Morton is a GREAT professor. Class consists of lectures and videos. Watch out for the pop quizzes, although its fairly easy and hes a easy grader as well. History can be boring, but he made it tolerable. Would take again.
Professor Morton is very passionate about the subject of History which made it interesting to learn. The class consists of five pop quizzes (one gets dropped), weekly tumblr posts, and a final. He gives very detailed notes and power points. As long as you read the notes and come to class regularly for the quizzes you shall definitely pass.
This class was amazing. If history is or isn't your subject you will enjoy it either way! Professor Morton is really into his lectures and will tell you so many interesting facts and provide movie clips and videos to help you understand it more. The pop quizzes are easy and he is very flexible in accepting answers. Take this class! No book needed!
A LOT of information but is pretty easy and hes very nice. All the info you'll ever need comes off his power-points and you can find them online. Your grade is based on 4 tests so no annoying quizzes or essays.
Class consists of power point lectures and videos. Very easy class, very nice Prof. He makes history interesting even if you're not into it. Pop quizzes are easy if you familiarize yourself with the few terms he discusses. Very passionate about history and makes corny jokes. Even though its an easy class you're guaranteed to learn some history!
Grade is based off of Pop quizzes one of which is dropped. Fairly easy as well as long as you have a general understanding of the course. Also has you do Tumblr posts as a way of homework. Also easy only 300 words and pictures. Don't use the book ever tells you not to get it. Class only mandatory on pop quiz days
This course has taught me a lot, and it wasnt your traditional class where the Professor stands up and lectures the whole time and you find yourself daydreaming and tuning in and out of the whole class. This class kept me engaged and interested with its unique use of media. I loved that every section and almost every slide. Definitely recommend.
This course was taught really well can was really easy. All you had to do was print his power points notes for the before class and go to class and listen and you can get an easy A. Also try to take all of the test because if you get an A on all of them you get to skip the final exam.
Very easy class, he gives you all the powerpoints and notes you need to pass the class so you don't need to buy a text book. Grades are based on blog posts, a few pop quizzes, and extra credit. If you have a pulse, you'll pass. If you put some time into studying you'll have a very easy A and might have enough points to not have to take the final.
He made lectures interesting and you can tell he was really passionate about the subject. There are four pop quizzes throughout the semester but you can tell when they're gonna happen. This class counts for the GRW but all he had us do was 10 tumblr posts. I would definitely take him for another history class.
Dr. Morton was an awesome professor. Gives a unique twist to the teaching style, and the classes go by fast. Gives 4 pop quizzes, but they are very predictable and all you have to do is pay attention to pass. If you get a good enough grade like I did, you are exempt from the final. Highly recommended.
I think the social-media twist and films really made the course enjoyable and I would most definitely recommend this course to anyone. If someone was in their first semester, probably with easier classes, this student would get a lot more out of the course (possibly change their life), than I did because I had to put attention elsewhere instead.
Professor Morton is a good guy & only has good intentions. Sure, class is optional, but you're missing out on passionate lectures. Give it your all - I learned so much from Prof. Morton, not only American History civil war & before, but even more about myself & modern depictions of history, gov't, etc. He gives a lot of extra credit, made an A.
Quite frankly, Prof. Morton was one of my favorite history teachers-ever. He makes the topics memorable and if you go to class, you'll be fine. He provides notes for the students and gives ec for going to class. Sometimes lectures can be long winded but that's to be expected. He didn't give any pop quizzes this semester but he does others.
I had him for American History and although it can be a rather dull topic, he made it interesting with different videos and movies to wake us up with. He's a film major so a majority of his lectures involve film as well. If you don't attend class then there is no way you'll pass the tests. He takes material from notes as well as hints he said too.
Professor Morton is an awesome teacher, honestly I learned so much about the history and rise of interesting worldwide events more than any highschool class. The professor is very passionate about his teachings and the use of films to explain history and jokes would make e never forget the class. The homework was even enjoyable and easy. 10/10
I got a 100 in this class! Very easy, all you have to do is show up and pay attention. He lets you use cheat sheets on the tests too. He also has humor and a nice personality.
Kind, helpful and interesting. Not boring at all and he brings in videos and clips to keep the class engaging. Must take additional notes on what he's talking about, don't just copy the slides. He's the kind of teacher that actually tries to let his students speak their mind even in a large lecture. All together highly recommend this class.
I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who needs to satisfy their general education credit courses. History class has a reputation of being boring and overwhelming of many dates, names and events to remember in so little time. Professor Morton's course was a breath a fresh air mainly because the classes never felt like a lecture.
Overall his class is pretty easy, its just that he grades way to hard. I found it difficult to do any assignments because if I missed o e thing that he did not like, it would result in a zero for th assignment because its only out of one point. His makeup work is insanely to much work to do for a signle point. Good luck is all I can finish with
Great Professor. Quick grader and gives extra credit. If you did well during the semester you do not have to take the final. Loved all the film/documentaries that we reviewed for a grade. Writing every week but not bad at all. No research paper. I enjoyed history class for the first time ever. Take his class!!
He has weekly relevant documentary reviews due on Webcourses, and you also have to respond to two classmates posts. Midterm and final were super easy. Nice, relaxed professor. I would take him again.
This class was the best history class I've ever taken. Professor Morton teaches you the events in history that other history classes don't teach. Definitely go to class. There are weekly discussions on very interesting documentaries, and you have to post on Twitter. If you get a good enough grade, you won't have to take the final
Professor Morton is so far one of my favorite professors I have had. He gives amazing lectures that kept me intrigued. One great thing about this lectures is that he incorporates video clips that correlate to his lectures, so it not just him lecturing the whole time. You have to watch lots of documentaries for hw, but all of them are interesting!
His lectures are super interesting and informative. Show up to class and you will pass. Although attendance isn't mandatory, it really does help to learn the information from his teachings. Since I attended every class, I never had to study for any tests (because his lectures were THAT good) and I never got a grade below 100%. Amazing teacher.
Professor Morton was amazing! His lectures were actually interesting and I feel like I learned way more than any other history class Ive taken. Just show up and take good notes and youll do great
The best teacher I have ever had!!! Makes lectures very interesting by using Netflix. Tests are very easy, let us use a cheat sheet on the final. No textbook needed!
Professor Morton uses documentaries and a PowerPoint presentation to teach. In class you will be split into groups and you will be asked to research a specific topic. Assignment wise you have discussions and documentary reviews. Overall, as long as you complete all of the assignments on time then you will have an A.
Professor Morton is one of my favorites! He makes the class very interesting. I'm a visual learner so his use of video clips and documentaries helped me immensely. During summer, we only took a midterm and final. They were easy if you paid attention in class.
One of my favorite classses Ive ever taken! His lectures really make me think about how things happened in a way I never thought possible. A lot of writing and tests are fill in the blank but if you think for yourself and use examples from class you will pass.
This is the second class I've taken with him and it's added so much perspective on so many things from history to philosophy to film to politics and just life in general. These history classes have a unique spin with movie clips and documentaries, but it's the way we are taught to think for ourselves that makes every class an incredible experience!
Love Mr. Morton very engaged in history. He is awesome. He cares about the students passing. Test are not multiple choice but they were not hard either. I reccomend this class for history
Love Mr. Morton very engaged in history. He is awesome. He cares about the students passing. Test are not multiple choice but they were not hard either. I reccomend this class for history. He is very passionate about history
David Morton is hands down my favorite professor. You can't possibly find anyone more passionate or knowledgeable about history than him. He is super funny and he really doesn't ask for a lot. Just show up to class and that way it would be impossible for you not to ace his exams. He's open to questions and generally a good teacher to have.
I usually struggle with history classes, but Prof. Morton was amazing at lectures and clearly has a passion for history. There's no textbook for this class and attendance isn't mandatory, but if I didn't show up to his lectures I definitely wouldn't have gotten the grade I did so easily. Show up, pay attention, take notes, and you'll get an easy A.
Great professor! Has 1 assignment a week. Exams are only on 2 sections at a time. If you show up to class, pay attention, and study at least 2 days before the exam you will be set.
3 tests, all write in answers, but its not as hard as you think. I got a 100 on all three tests. you have a discussion post a week, pretty much participation points. Don't forget about them. Lots of extra credit. Supposed to be 20th century, but we were doing civil war and gold rush and stopped at the 40s, not what i signed up for.
I really enjoyed this course and the topics discussed throughout it. I naturally enjoy history; however, I always dreaded the way it was taught. Most teachers/professors focus heavily on the dates in which events occurred. This class challenged me to think different about history and see things in ways I never thought of. Great class!
Professor Morton is a super chill guy, and he is AWESOME at teaching. He totally knows his course material, and is able to give entire 75-minute lectures from mostly his memory, which I found to be crazy. He also uses videos a lot while lecturing, and those videos not only get the class more engaged with the topics, but they are very informative.
I really enjoyed and learned a lot from the major topics as well, I learned a different perspective and deeper knowledge of these topics. I'm very glad that the bad times of American history were expressed instead of being sugarcoated. I found the documentaries very engaging and fun. I don't necessarily think of history as boring anymore!
The 2 tests, super easy. Just go over the term list he creates for the semester and you'll pass. He has every lecture memorized, and show up after the mid-term! He gave our whole class an excuse from the next assignment because no one came to class. Don't buy the textbook, there is an option for the assignments to watch youtube videos instead
attendance isn't mandatory but i found that it really helped. his lectures are pretty interesting and sometimes funny. if u study the material there's no way u'll fail. the exams are fill in the blank but it super simple questions and he drops hints abt what hes gonna ask during lectures. really good class, really good professor.
Overall, I feel that this class was extremely educational, and I feel we covered a ton of information and history in a very short amount of time. As a visual learner - having so much visual aids like the videos we watched in class to better gather understanding of each topic was so much more helpful than just talking and taking notes. Great class!
Morton is very passionate about History. Those people who are complaining, most likely never came to lectures or came and talked or did other courses' homework. If you paid attention during his lectures, which are all recited from memory, and did even a couple hours of studying the major concepts for the tests, you'll make an easy A in this class.
This man literally saved me from dropping out. A personal issue caused me to miss the final and he allowed his TA let me make it up. None of my other profs even bother to respond or tried to help out. Even if I bomb all my other classes, he gave me the chance to finish this class and inspired me to keep going with school. No other teacher does this
One of the best history teachers I have had. Takes a bit to get used to his lectures as he moves through material quickly but he breaks down each topic very well, never missing a beat and uses visual aids to better help us understand the history instead of making us just stick our faces in textbooks. I'm actually very glad this class is mandatory.
I can honestly say that Dr. Morton is one of the greater professors at UCF. He has you do discussions which are super easy, a midterm and a final and that's it. His classes aren't mandatory but I went to every lecture and didn't study for either test and got an A on both. His tests are free-response but he hints at the material during the lecture.
Textbook not needed at all. 10 discussion posts (easy points), midterm & final. Literally gives you everything you need to know for exams in course notes online. Go to class even tho it's not mandatory, but I didn't and I still got an A bc of extra credit opportunities (there's a lot). Don't wait till the last minute to study for exams & ur good.
This was without question one of the most thought provoking classes Ive ever taken. Professor Morton structures his classes almost like a show, with little episodes that each follow a new theme. He cares about what he teaches and what his student learns and I am so glad to have had the opportunity to take his class and learn from him.
As someone who has always struggled with history and really not a fast paced learner, this class was incredibly helpful. Professor Morton takes a lot of time in his lectures and even throws in some drunk history to make it more memorable. This was the first time I felt like I learned something in a history class.
I did nothing and got an A. Go to extra credit assignments. Both tests are simple because its all from memorizing terms. I studied 30 for each test and was perfectly fine. His lectures do get boring often, but you can tell how passionate he is. He doesn't take attendance but did give xtra credit for going to class. Lecture Heavy!
Professor Morton was so great this semester! Very easy A as long as you do the discussion posts and extra credit. Exams are a lot easier than you would expect, so dont stress too much. Review the class notes and youll be fine. His lectures were amazing but attendance is not mandatory. Grades based off 10 discussion posts, midterm, and final
Prof. Morton had a completely different approach to history than I had ever experienced in other history classes but it made learning a whole lot easier and more fun. He shows a lot of videos in class to help teach the topic and theres practically no notes on the PowerPoint to copy, so you have to be there to listen to his lectures.
Morton was the GOAT! This class was a bit of work and I don't recommend if you are looking for an easy credit - a lot of writing assignments and high expectations for exams. However, if you want to learn history in a new way and take the time to learn the subject this is a rewarding and challenging experience well worth it!
He makes the class interesting with related films and a chance to give a lot of perspectives rather than a very strict criteria.
This was the greatest professor I've ever had. The majority of your grade consists of discussion boards and the portion of your grade is is the midterm and final. I took him for AMH 2010 and AMH 2020 and I thoroughly enjoyed both of his classes. Do the assignments and you'll pass with no problem. 100 percent recommend taking him.
I took Dr. Morton for both AMH 2010&2020 and I learned more from him than I have in any history classes I'v ever took. He is a brilliant and passionate teacher who's goal is to truly educate you and help broaden your views. Amazing and interesting lectures and meaningful and fun assignments. Great class and an even better teacher. Highly recommend!
This prof. was very helpful and cared about his students. Really enjoyed this class!
Great Professor for both AMH 2010 & 2020
Professor Morton was great, he really cares about his students! He had us do discussion posts every week, and his tests are all written out and fill in the blank - be ready to study! The lecture note packets he posts on WebCourses are extremely helpful, but there's A LOT of info so be prepared and don't procrastinate!
Honestly, not the worst. Weekly discussion posts that are 300-500 words, Lots of extra credit opportunities, tests are a mix of short answer and fill-in-the-blank. He talks all lecture yet somehow I'd still walk out every day without learning a single thing. The class isn't hard, if you put in the effort and turn everything in, its an easy A.
Professor Morton truly cares about his students. He has his own slides/videos to watch instead of the textbook which I enjoyed more. Discussions each module on a video, podcast, etc. that he provides. Will let you convince him your answer is correct, instead of a simple yes/no answer. If you want to actually enjoy history, take this professor.
Awesome lectures, really sucks when people don't participate. Gives you lecture notes so that you can actually engage with him. His exams are easy to ace but easy to fail if you don't pay at least read the lecture notes. Any and every extra credit opportunity take, you might run into him and its really cool! Wish I could take him again.
He does it again! He makes the class interesting with films and a chance for people to be expressive in class and in assignments.
With everything going in the world right now I keep thinking about this professor and his class. He brought up so many important things in our past that we don't talk about and now we have it happening. I've been able to calm friends and family down by telling them what I learned from him. Incredible teacher 10/10 recommend.
I enjoyed the structure of the class. I like how there were just the right amount of lectures that needed to be watched and the notes that were provided helped me with my understanding of the material. Again, the documentaries also helped to dive deeper into specific topics and bring in all in a circle
the class is mainly lectures and taking notes, but you should definitely try to attend as many as you can. I missed a few but had friends that would share their notes with me. the only assignments are weekly discussion posts, the midterm and final.
If you have to take history just take his class. Good teacher as long as you respect him he respects you and he is very transparent with how he runs his class.
Dr. Morton is a great person which makes him an even better professor. Truly dedicated to his students because he teaches the truth and doesn't dance around the vile parts of American history. He posts lecture notes he writes which are especially helpful when drafting your own. Class structure is A+ and lectures are engaging even remotely at 9 am.
I actually looked forward to every class and since it was all discussion, never really felt like it was work but almost a book or movie club. Each week we talked about a different theme and had to pick a movie or tv show to watch and talk about. Very engaging and I actually even enjoyed writing the final paper. Great feedback and fun class!
David Morton puts in spectacular amounts of effort into his lectures. They were extremely entertaining and were historically rich. My main critique would be I think the actual homework you have to do for his class is actually too easy as he gives massive amounts of extra credit (although I imagine most people want that).
Professor Morton did an amazing job teaching us online. He is a great teacher and really knows how to keep everyone engaged in the lectures. He is dedicated to what he teaches and makes it interesting! While attendance isn't mandatory, I highly recommend going to lectures. The workload is very manageable and he gives a lot of extra credit.
Dr. Morton is an awesome Professor, as he sees two sides to the curricula, which is how you examine it, as he considers himself a film critic, he examines the history from a 21st century point of view, as opposed to a blah blah lecture point of view, he incorporates different tools into the lecture too, as well as your grade.
This class was amazing! Professor Morton teaches using media (movies, podcasts, documentaries, etc.) to help teach history. Learned so much more than high school.
History is usually my worst subject but Professor Morton actually made it quite an enjoyable experience. He's a film buff, thus his encouragement of watching documentaries and such for assignments (rather than buying and reading the textbook). He is very easygoing and it sucks not many ppl show up to his lecture since he's cool to interact with.
This professor was deeply passionate about history, and I could appreciate that. His lectures were pretty boring to the average student, but the course work was clearly laid-out (10 discussions, 5 tests, one per week for 15 weeks). Tests were open-note and not proctored, and he provided an extensive study guide for each unit. No midterm/final.
Dr. Morton is a gem! He provided live zoom lectures during our scheduled meeting time but also provided a recording to those who weren't able to attend. Discussion posts (300 words) and 5 tests (10 questions) for the entire semester! No final! The textbook is not required since his discussion posts/tests are lecture content based. Easy A!
Very good professor, attend the lectures and you will pass easily. No proctor hub needed when taken online and it is open book. Provides extra credit that makes a major difference when it is completed.
Easiest class you'll take. If anything I wish there was more of the semester so I could still be in this class. Best History teacher EVER!!! and that's an understatement. There 5 section exams 10 questions each and are open notes. There 10 class discussions where you write 300-500 words easy!!! He also provide extra credit. All of you will be fine.
I cannot recommend Professor Morton enough. He is so organized, clear, and smart. His lectures are interesting, and his homework is too. The class is arranged to fit into your schedule and interests. The class is easy yet interesting. Take Prof Morton's class if you want to pass history and enjoy it at the same time.
Great professor. Very caring and great professor overall. Fast responses. Lecture content is a little bit all over the place, but he offers a lot of extra credit. Overall, great person would recommend taking.
A very unique class with a collection of readings I actually enjoyed. Professor is very flexible when it comes to assignments which lets you pick articles/viewings/books that best fit your interest. 10 discussion assignments, 2 book reviews, and a final paper all set up very well. Learned more about Florida in class than 12 years in public school.
Best professor at UCF. Class is an easy A with how heavy extra credit is weighted. This class is even more than an easy A, Professor Morton takes pride in his lectures and loves to teach this subject. Cares more about us actually enjoying and learning the material opposed to focusing on grades. I'm jealous if you are a history major!
This was a very interesting course. There was a weekly discussion, two book reports, and a final 6-8 page essay.
Professor Morton was AMAZING! He was super kind and cared for his students. The assignments were weekly and very clear. Professor Morton made it interesting and easy to pass! Overall great class.
BEST TEACHER! lectures and textbooks aren't needed. Discussion posts due weekly based on videos and exams every few weeks. Exams are only 10 fill in the blank questions. No final exam! Gives an extreme amount of extra credit. Truly the easiest A in the world!!!
I took Professor Morton's class remotely. He made the lectures entertaining to attend, however, they aren't required. The class focused on discussions each week, based on posted videos. There were also a handful of tests, which are reviewed in lecture. The class was accessible and the professor ensured that everyone was on the same page.
Summer Semester; only had to do one discussion and one quiz per week. No busy work. Not required to show up to class, but you do get test answers if you go as a reward. Extra credit is given out in plethora. Discussions are 300 words, lots to pick from, easy. Tests are 13 questions, NOT multiple choice but still easy.
Dr. Morton was very prompt and kind whenever I needed clarification or guidance. For summer, a weekly discussion & exam, along with a lecture paper. I am not a huge history fan, but this class awoke something in me. The way he sets up his lectures with quick videos and the ability to speak on the dark, complexities of history is what draws you in.
Dr. Morton is the best professor I've ever had. He is lecture heavy, but his lectures are so important and educational. He uses video clips to back up almost every topic which is extremely useful when trying to get a clear understanding of a moment in history. He's super nice, cool, and isn't afraid to teach the hard truths of America's history
Dr. Morton is really a gem at UCF. He's really passionate about his subject and you can tell just by talking to him he really cares about his students success. If you get a chance to take a class with him do it!
The lectures were long but very informative, helpful, and entertaining. Cares less about names/dates and more about the implications of historical events. Lectures/HW often consisted of watching videos that kept things interesting. Encouraged student involvement in class which was v. engaging. Great class, even greater professor.
Dr. Morton posted old online lectures that were the same as what was discussed in class so if you missed a class it wasn't a big deal. Tests were online & open-note are easy if you pay attention in class. Discussion posts have you choose what you want to read/listen to & write a paragraph. You are only graded on discussion posts & tests. Easy A
Lectures are engaging. Dr Morton is very knowledgable and splits his lectures up with videos. He really understands how to reach his students and keep us interested. Weekly discussions on interesting documentaries. Tests are 10 questions and open note. I've got nothing bad to say about this class and would take Dr. Morton's class again.
He's a wonderful professor and everything is super easy. I highly recommend him. There is a textbook, but it's not mandatory and I didn't use it and still got an A+. There are many discussion posts, but they're not difficult. Lectures are also really entertaining as he shows lots of videos and movie clips. He gives lots of extra credit.
A pretty interesting class. Weekly assignments include one or two reads from the assigned textbooks, watching a film, and reading a few articles. You do two presentations a semester and a 8-10 page paper at the end of the semester. Pretty easy going until you have to write the paper.
Although this is my first semester in college, I can confidently say that this is truly one of the best and most enjoyable courses and instructors I've ever had. The entire format and structure of the course is simple and straightforward with weekly discussion posts, five section exams, no papers, no final exam, and plenty of extra credit. Do take!
David Morton is one of the best professors at this university. He really knows his material and is able to teach it in an engaging way. I hated missing one of his lectures because they were always incredibly detailed and entertaining. The class itself is pretty easy, just 10 discussion board posts and 5 non-cumulative exams.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Easy A with a great professor. If you already know American history well, you don't even have to go to class. The weekly discussion posts are worth 50% of your grade, so just submit them, and your replies, on time. Tests are worth 50% but they are online, mostly multiple choice, and he gives plenty of extra credit opportunities!
This class just started, but it already has become one of my all time favorites during my time here at UCF. Professor Morton is very flexible about the films we watch and even allows the class to take a weekly poll for screenings. Writing and reading each week, but you also have the option of watching a documentary. Great workload and learning!
Decent size workload. Lectures are super long and boring but overall class isn't too bad. Pay attention and you'll be good. Tests are tough. Lots of extra credit. Overall easy to get A with minimal effort due to extra credit.
Professor Morton is a wonderful professor for American History. He does biweekly discussion boards with various content that you can review, read or watch, so you'll find something to enjoy. His tests are very flexible in grading, and his lectures are informative. If you want an easy and flexible course, I highly recommend him.
This class let me go back what I enjoyed most about studying film: the movies! Each week we get to pick as a class what movie we want screened from a list connected to a particular theme. We then also have to write a research paper on any topic we want about film but Professor Morton is super nice and helpful in getting you started on it!
Prof. Morton is a really great teacher, he knows how to reach his audience and keep them interacting with him. At one point I reached out to him because there was a mistake on one of my grades and he responded asap and fixed the problem. As long as you pay attention to the lectures and take notes you'll ace his tests, great teacher!
Easy class follow the notes and you will do good. If you mess up some how over 27 points of ec available.
I honestly had no idea what to expect when taking this class. I was told you could finish the class in a day, but this was a lot of work, but manageable if you take the time to learn. I never knew about a lot of the movies that he shared and really feel like I understand film history because how much effort this professor made to help his students
Grade was made up of tests and quizzes and the questions came from the slides and textbook. Unlimited attempts for quizzes. I thought the tests were a little tricky, but he offers so much extra credit so it doesn't matter. Had to email him once and he responded quickly. Overall a very easy and manageable class!
Course is based on several exams and quizzes, but they are open notes. Focus on the textbook readings and the PowerPoint slides as that's where the questions come from. Professor is very caring and offers a lot of extra credit throughout the course! Overall, the course is very organized, has plenty of resources to help students, and is a easy A!
Teacher didn't have much student interaction, but assignments were easy and self-explanatory. Assignments were a quiz per chapter, a quiz per every few chapters, and some extra credit offered for watching a film of your own choice. Textbook available online. I didn't take the class for a film major, but it definitely made me into in film history.
Super easy A, perfect for GEP! The tests and quizzes are very specific but as long as you have the textbook they are not bad (get online to Ctrl+F). You can add ~20% to your grade with the extra credit offered. I am taking this class in summer B and maybe spend 1 hour a week max. One of the best, most interesting easy A classes you will ever have!
the quizzes and tests were very specific sometimes. i only read the module slides and never read the textbook and usually got around 80-100% on the quizzes and tests. he offers a bunch of extra credit which will help your grade immensely! the content was super interesting too so it's both fun and an easy a!
Took this class during Summer B. Very easy class with minimal work. You're able to retake your quizzes as many times as you want and both tests/quizzes are easy. There was extra credit activities every week.Would recommend!
The best online class I've taken if any professor needs five stars it's him. You won't regret taking his class. The book you can get a PDF. Quizzes are an open book and it's an excellent elective!
Fantastic teacher, I was a bit worried about how much he uses videos in his lecture (classic "I could watch YouTube instead of coming to class") but he integrates them into the lectures very well, and provides really cool perspectives on history you won't get from most classes. I don't care much for history classes, but he did it - he made me care!
He gives really good lectures that are really interesting and also uses videos in his lectures. I suggest going to class because he hints at what's important to remember for test. You have a discussion post every week except for the 5 exams weeks. He provides notes you can user the exams. There's a department final at the end for 10% of your grade.
Such a great and fun class! Took this for an easy grade because of its reputation but turned out to surprise me with how much thought went into the course. Honestly I want to keep learning after this class and the professor did such a great job in telling the story of film in it!
What a truly insightful class with an amazing professor. Do you want an easy A, while also genuinely enjoying learning about U.S. history? Take this class RIGHT NOW!!! Classwork is very light. His lectures are so relaxing and helped me destress. One of the most inspiring classes you'll take.
IF YOU NEED A GEP CREDIT, TAKE THIS CLASS. Wow, I can't thank Professor Morton enough for this class. It is an easy, interesting, GPA booster! The course load is very minimal! I recommend this class so much. As long as you're good at keeping up with online classes, this should be a piece of cake!
I highly recommend this professor to anyone who is starting their Film degree. This professor knows his stuff! He loves conversating with others and gives so many extra credit opportunities. The homework is fun and can be strenuous, but I still would take the class all over again to learn everything once more. Great Professor to Have!
At first, I was a bit lost in the class but once you learn how to pay attention to the lectures, they are actually super interesting and educational. He teaches history from a different perspective which is very eye-opening. The tests are really easy if you pay attention to the lectures. His assignments are really fun to do.
Really easy class with easy setup and very interesting.
Very easy!!! You watch an hour of a documentary series and read a couple of slideshows and take a quiz every week. Your grade is heavily based on the exams and all the answers are in the slideshows. I would take Dr.Morton.
Great professor! The lectures were very interesting and I didn't have trouble following along at all. Didn't have to buy a textbook as everything was taught in class. The classwork was fairly easy. You'll do fine on the tests as long as you go to class. Plenty of extra credit assignments.
Interesting lectures, and you can tell he's passionate about the class. Entire class is just discussion posts and exams, which are pretty easy. Discussions are either answering a prompt or a media review. Exams are fill in the blank
The professor was funny through the lectures , there is extra credit to attend . The discussion board was okay and I suggest to pick this professor.
This isn't so much a rating of Dr. Morton as it is for FIL2030. The course is completely online and the workload is extremely light. Only a 3 ? quiz at the end of each week and a 25 ? test after every 3/4 weeks. I never had to email Dr. Morton for anything but his announcement updates were always helpful. Very easy class and great professor!
Professor Morton is a real homie who respects your time. There are 10 discussions. Watch a video (usually under an hour, plus you can speed it up), then write 300-500 words and two 100 word replies. There are 5 open note webcourses quizzes with short response style questions. No final, no essays, tons of EC. Obvious choice for GEP / GRW credit.
I really liked going to Professor Mortons class lectures and hearing what he had to say. The discussion posts every week or so were not bad at all because you get to pick what media you wanna base it off of, he has a list for you to choose from each week!
The best and funniest prof at UCF
Genuinely the best professor I've ever had. Simple class, simple coursework, and overall is just a great teacher and inspiration!
Class consists of 1 module a week with 1 short quiz. Every 3 modules is a larger exam. All open note/book. Text book is needed. His powerpoints are really great. Lots of EX discussions to do. Easy and fun class to do for GED.
Absolutely amazing professor. Very easy class. Discussion due once a week and 5 open note exams. Gives a ton of extra credit, so it's very hard to get less than an A in this class. Class is super chill and very interesting (coming from someone who had zero interest in history), and it's fun to participate. Could not recommend this class enough!
If you need a fun/easy class to balance out a tough workload, pick this one! To earn an "A" in this class, you need a 95 percent, but that is doable with around an hour of reading each week and participation in Yellowdig discussion. Professor Morton also has an absurd amount of extra credit to make up for lost points.
The extra credit that was offered throughout the course really made a difference.
SUCH an easy class. Honestly really enjoyed how his ppts were set up, all the info in there are the answers for the quizzes and tests (which are open note). He also gives EC opportunities.
Online class, I didn't really watch any of the videos or even read the textbook he made us get but passed it easily. Just read the PowerPoints. There's some interesting stuff that you can learn. Quizzes and tests are kinda hard but nothing too bad. Lots of extra credit opportunities, yellow dig is a little tedious but it was fine.
Class is extremely easy, grade is entirely comprised of open book tests and quizzes and all of the answers are in either the textbook or the lecture powerpoints for each module. There is also plenty of extra credit opportunity through YellowDig and two 300 word discussion posts.
At first when I began this class I was confused why it was so highly recommended and a reputation of being easy since he exams themselves are on the challenging side. However there are so many EC opportunities (that are actually enjoyable) that you could do average on the exams and finish with an A+
TAKE HIM!! His tests are hard, so read the book & read the modules to pass. I took this summer A so it was a little sped up, I am sure it is better paced if it is over a normal course semester. He gives SO much extra credit, he's extremely understanding, I had tech issues & he helped. I had an 85% & did the extra credit & it brought me up to a 107%
His lectures are very long and discussion-based. He is obviously very passionate about history, he has slides but doesn't ready off of them, he explains things on his own, which shows he's knowledgeable but it can get boring very easily. Only two tests all semester, not too hard, read textbook and do essential questions. SO MUCH extra credit!!
This course has taught me so much more about American history than I thought I already knew. I feel that I had a basic understanding of US history before taking this class but ended up learning so much more from Dr. Morton's various content and lectures. I really appreciate how interesting they are and the amount of detail that goes into each one.
Super easy. Grade comes from short weekly quizzes and an exam every 3 modules. Can retake quizzes thrice. Slides, videos, and textbook take a VERY long time to get through weekly, but you can def get by on just the slides.
I really enjoyed this professor's lectures and as long as you attend them you don't need to do much studying for his two exams he has all semester as long as you paid attention during the lectures. very easy on his grading for his weekly homework which consisted of at most a single page due.
The tests are extremely hard, you have one attempt. All the answers can be found on the PowerPoints or textbook. Yellow dig discussion post due weekly. He offers a lot of extra credit. The work load is very manageable. The modules are very interesting. A- in this class is 94-90. However, it is doable to get an A by doing the extra credit.
Really interesting and insightful class! I learned a lot about Florida history and really cool stories about American history that I had no idea about. Learned so much and the assignments felt less like a chore and more like a chance to really get to find out the history that I haven't had a chance to learn anywhere else
Dr. Morton's teaching style is one of the best I've ever experienced at the college level. It's very rare to find a class where you anticipated for the next lecture. He uses documentaries, historical dramas, and films to help you experience history as more than just words on a page. He wants you to succeed! I didn't want to leave his class.
Class features discussions and quizzes about different times of film history, with responses being based on external research and the textbook. Learning about the different hallmarks of film history was interesting and engaging. I wish there were a project or two that engaged us more with this topic, but class was an easy A regardless.
Professor Morton was great throughout the semester. We had weekly discussions on readings and viewings for that week. Our viewings were such a wide range which was awesome because we got to choose from a massive selection of films for that unit. They also had extra credit almost every other week if you wanted to get extra points!
His lectures were really good. Never before have I liked a history course. The exams were simple, and heavily based on lectures. The final was not cumulative. Try not to skip classes.
Great professor! I took the course in the summer. Online material is organized well and easy to follow. Graded for discussion posts/essays and quizzes.
Professor Morton's FIL2030 class is a great option for an easy A. The lectures can be dense, but the PowerPoints and textbook cover the material well. Quizzes are challenging but with unstuck ai and other resources, you can easily get an A.
I had Morton online and he gives good lectures that are useful on the assignments, we have the same assignments for each section so it is a good routine. He gives feedback and as long as you did the assignment and followed directions, you should pass this class easily. There are many extra credit opportunities throughout the course. Def recommend.
Don't fear the online aspect, coursework was extremely manageable due to having the same type of assignments due each week at the same time. Professor was very easy to work with and gave feedback! Course was interesting and used multimodal types of learning. If effort is given, class is a piece of cake.
Morton was actually one of the best professors I have ever taken at UCF, he is very passionate about history and his lectures are amazing. The work is easy, quizzes are open book and you get a cheat sheet for the 2 tests. Also a lot of extra credit opportunities. His lectures include a lot of videos which is really good for the visual learners.
Professor Morton is kind and understanding! The course is very organized and consists of 5 exams and many discussion posts for which the rubric is very clear. There are also two extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend taking this course since it is an easy A.
a very slightly tough grader but he seems like a super nice guy and he gives good feedback. Very organized and straight forward class
Prof. Morton is a great guy, and if you're looking for an easy A, especially for a gen ed class, I 100% recommend his class. The online class has one quiz per week on each module, and every three modules, there is one essay response and a test. The tests and quizzes are very easy if you read the textbook or watch the documentary.
Super easy class. It's online and I can't really remember if I've ever seen the professor send an announcement or anything but it's okay since the class is so straightforward. Just do your mini quiz every week and watch some cool movies.
