Most arrogant and egotistical teacher I have ever had the pleasure of sitting through!
Dr. Mustard is one of the best professors at the University of Georgia. He invests a good amount of time into his courses and expects the same of his students. If you keep up you'll enjoy the class and probably end up making an A.
Mustard is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes you work, but he has a very interesting class. I did bust him lifting test questions from a Dr. Friedman in California though.
I had him for class and he was also my thesis advisor and he had to be one of the most thoroughly unhelpful people I've encountered at this school.
He is clear, consistent, and interesting. He asks for class participation. He is very helpful and open to students.
Mustard is fantastic. I don't know who the people are who are saying he isn't helpful, but my experience was quite the opposite. Despite being busy between teaching, research, and coordinating the grad program, he always made time to talk with me and help me beyond the call of duty. Courses are clear, organized, and thought-provoking. Total stud.
Economic Analysis of Law was actually pretty cool. Mustard kept class interesting and we got to be jurors in the law school's mock trial.
cool teacher. Class is pretty interesting and he teaches it using the Socratic method often so if you're going to law school it can be somewhat of an intro course. test are mostly essay style with a few multiple choice Q's.
I took Dr. Mustard for the honors section of principles of micro. He's a really cool guy and an interesting lecturer. Tests were difficult, but he makes himself very available to students both in class and during office hours. Highly recommended!
He's a nice guy but he's SUPER PICKY on his tests! You have to basically be able to read his mind to know what exactly he wants sometimes. I still did OK (B+), but if you're trying to keep a really high GPA, you probably should avoid him.
Dr. Mustard seems nice at first - but he's more like an imaginary friend. Just try getting a meeting with this guy! He is never at work! The amount of time he spends at home and on vacation has inspired me to be a professor.
Dr. mustard is great! He's really into what he teaches and it comes across. I found him very helpful and available during the course and hope to take another one of his classes. Would recommend!
Great guy. Tougher econ class. Tests are almost all written answers and he wants you to repeat exactly what he said in the notes. If you do that you will do well. Notes are a little confusing to take at first. Everything he covers in great detail, says more than once or emphasizes will be on the test. The notes tell you what he wants on the test
Absolutely loved this class. If you have any interest in law, take this class. Professor Mustard is incredibly knowledgable in this area & does an excellent job of tying in basic economic theory into law analysis. it takes a while to figure out how to take notes & how he tests but it's absolutely worth it. Go to office hours, they help a ton.
Dr. mustard is extremely subjective in his grading. from what I gather, he doesn't really care if you read the book or take good notes. he is more interested in grading you well only if you go to his office hours and stroke the ego he earned at univ. of chicago. I'm going to law school next semester and have found very little value in this class.
He is not very helpful. we had to write a paper on contract law and its legal and economic implications. he didn't cover contracts until a week (the last week of the semester) before the paper was due. :( he is also very unclear in his lectures.
This class was not what I expected it to be because Dr. Mustard made things more vague than necessary. I didn't like how he waited until the last minute to cover contracts when we had to write a paper on a contract. He should have covered contracts at the beginning of the semester. Just take LEGL 2700 if you really want a pre-law kind of class.
Gives 3 tests and 1 paper over a mock trial. All course materials are listed on his personal uga page (syllabus, lecture notes, etc). The textbook was not extremely helpful, but he does pick 1 or 2 Q's for tests. Attendance is crucial; the lecture notes only go so far.
Dr. Mustard is an expert on this material and teaches it in a very clear way. He gave two tests plus the final for this class and, while they are difficult, they are not impossible if you study well. For the papers, you are fine as long as you sound like you know what you are talking about. I hope I can take a class with him again in the future.
This was the best class I've ever taken. I already liked economics, but the way Dr. Mustard (who has a really dry sense of humor) made everything super applicable to everyday life made me love it even more. He's a pretty tough grader, but if you're an econ major, you have to take him because you'll learn so much. He's also very distinguished.
I really enjoyed Mr. Mustard (he doesn't like to be called Doctor). He was helpful when you had questions, made explanations as clear as possible, and really wanted the whole class to do well. The tests were hard, but if you go to office hours and read the textbook you'll do well. He's also an overall really nice guy.
I was so excited to take microeconomics with Professor Mustard. Prior to taking this class, I loved economics. However, the lecture was extremely unorganized, and sometimes we would not even know that homework was assigned until the day it was due (via Aplia online). Participation plays a huge role in this class, so if you are shy, do not take.
extremely unorganized
Law Econ with Dr. Mustard was a very informative class. His lectures are good but you will not do well if you skip class because tests are based on the lectures and he does not pot slides. Tests are tricky but fair and if you study well you will do fine.
Professor Mustard is probably the best instructor I have had. He is incredibly smart and will help you as much as you need. He has a dry sense of humor, though lectures can get boring at times if you're not big on Econ. All of the tests are free response with maybe a few multiple choice. The textbook and homework are actually very helpful as well.
Professor Mustard is an amazing professor. His 2106H class is set up so he lectures during class and prompts student engagement. His tests are not as difficult as expected and so long as you memorize your note, it is very doable to get an A on every exam. He is very invested in having his students do well and helpful during office hours: 10/10
Dr. Mustard is a fantastic professor - easily one of the best I've had while at UGA. He's extremely knowledgeable about the law and about economics, and his lectures are usually interesting and engaging. Couldn't recommend him more!
Dr. Mustard is a great professor! Take him over Skira if possible. He is a very caring person and is available all the time outside class for all students. His tests are straightforward and there is occasional homework, but easy to get A's on. He is understanding of circumstances, and overall is a genuine and caring man.
Mustard is an amazing professor - wish I had taken him for Principles! He does a great job presenting relevant topics and supplementing with outside info. Lectures are very organized and attendance matters. Exams can be difficult but generally get easier later in the course when you become accustomed to the format, plus he is a very fair grader.
Funny guy, decently interesting material. However, more of a law class than an econ class. You talk about copyright, patents, contracts. There's the occasional econ graph but mostly a poli-sci class without all the reading. Relatively easy. If you go to office hours he'll really listen tho. Definitely cares about his students.
Mustard isn't the worst professor I've ever had, but you can tell he's just at UGA for the research. The class is relatively easy if you study, but you can tell he writes the test in a hurry literally the night before so many of the questions are poorly worded and feel out of left-field. Tests take forever to get back, and you'll take 4 total.
Dr. Mustard was a pretty good guy. The problem sets and papers in the class are easy to get A's on. Tests aren't too bad as long as you put in the time to prepare for it. Don't skip because the problems in lectures are extremely similar to the homework questions. I rarely studied and did okay, so if you put in some effort you should be good.
If you go to class and take really good notes, you'll do really well on the exams. There are 4 exams in total and he did a good job of emphasizing what would be on them in lectures. He's really nice and funny and does a great job at simplifying economic concepts. He does take a while to grade exams though
While Mr. Mustard (Dr but goes by Mr) is very nice, he isn't always the best at teaching. He often goes into unrelated stories or explains things too complicated. He is very helpful in and outside of class. Textbook is pretty useless. Class isn't too hard.
Dr. Mustard is one of the best professors I've had. He is very knowledgeable and loves his subject. Readings aren't too heavy and the textbook was actually interesting. He does a great job engaging students and answering questions. There are 3 midterms and a final, two short papers, and a handful of homework assignments.
Mustard is one of the best professors I've had so far. Super experienced at teaching econ and cares greatly about his students. The overwhelming majority of his students made A's but put in the work to understand content early so you don't drown. Available for tutoring & is flexible and chill overall but be proactive and ask for help/support!
Dr. Mustard is a great professor. He isn't always the clearest, but if you study and pay attention you'll do fine on tests. Would definitely recommend taking his classes if you can.
David Mustard is awesome. Great professor who explains concepts well and has a generally well-organized course. His lectures are as interesting as one can make economic analysis of law lectures be. Overall, a really cool guy and would take again. Only grades are tests and a final. Recommend showing up to class.
Really great guy -- cares about his students and his subject and you can tell. Tests can be challenging because they're not too many questions, so if you miss two you can drop to an A- real fast. However, he's very accessible for questions and feedback, and quick to help you outside of class. Such a great professor!
Mustard is a fantastic guy. Class can be a little scattered, but just go with the flow and you will be ok.
A really great professor. I genuinely enjoyed going to class. As long as you do and understand the problem sets then the midterms are easy, because they're very similar.
Professor Mustard inspired me to look at many situations from an economic angle, specifically within prejudicial and statistical discrimination economics. He is excellent about giving solely the most important information, and teaching a holistic view of microeconomics. He is always available for office hours and genuinely cares about his students.
Lectures can be scattered sometimes, but he makes sure to go over anything that could be on the test very clearly. Not the best communicator, so if you need him for something, it'll likely take several emails and many after-class conversations. Final grade was based on three midterms, a final, and participation, but study and you'll get an A.
Definitely the best professor that I have had so far at UGA. Really nice and funny guy that is incredibly knowledgeable in economics. His tests can be tough, but it isn't anything that isn't covered in class. Reading the textbook during the class isn't mandatory, but I felt like that was a good way to study. I strongly recommend his class.
Professor Mustard is overall a very respectable man. However, his style of teaching and explaining it horribly confuses a lot of students. He uses one example for the entire unit and expects you to understand it after that. As much as I hate doing homework this is a math class and needs homework which he does not do.
I took micro in HS, so I was bored in class. His lectures were easy to understand and his tests are very straightforward. If you are not confident in basic algebra, stay away because he does not explain the math too much, only the concepts.
Mustard is the nicest dude on Earth. It's hard to get in contact and sometimes takes awhile to get exams back, but there's no one that cares more about your success as a student. If you've ever taken a law class before, this is an easy course. You do have to show up and listen to the examples, but there's never any surprises on the exams.
Great professor. Really wants his students to succeed. Can sometimes be all over the place, but never lets it affect his performance. Occasional HW, not bad. He's super available outside of class--go to office hours, it helps a lot. Be careful of Test 1, the format can throw you off. But use that format for the next tests and you'll be fine.
This is my second time taking Mustard and I really enjoyed this class. Organization really isn't his strong suit but he makes up for it with good lecture and office hours (so good! I talked to him about material and major-choice). He was also very understanding and accommodating with my family circumstances this year. I will be taking him again!
nice professor, tests are reasonable if you attend/pay attention and practice some of the mathier parts. super accessible for help if you need it.
While he is a nice guy, I would NOT recommend this class. You never know your final grade until after the semester is over, and he is very unorganized with the class itself. Also, the tests were close to impossible because they were vaguely based on 1 or 2 homework sets and basically all free response.
Sometimes I got a little frustrated with the lack of clarity/organization this course came with, but overall it's super interesting and relatively easy. Mustard is great and I would highly recommend, just don't get overwhelmed by his occasional tangents-- it's the core material you really need to know. Fair tests and don't need to read textbook.
Dr. Mustard is a great person and professor. Although attendance is optional, I highly recommend you go to class, because the lectures help a lot with the material and notes. He's super open to questions and goes into depth with his answers. There aren't many grades, so make sure you put in time and effort for those grades. Go to office hours too!
very easy class. Tests were almost identical to practice questions and he grades easily. He doesn't explain the math too well so I would make sure to have a decent math foundation before the class (just algebra 1 tbh). Take him over the other professor. Most of my friends with the other professor struggled a lot bc her tests were so hard.
Mr. Mustard (he does not like to be called doctor) is one of UGA's finest professors. He's an accomplished economist, and, as such, he encourages students to apply economic thought to research, policy, business strategy, etc. His tests are challenging, but fair. He does move a bit fast, so make sure to read the textbook as the class moves along.
Dr. Mustard is my favorite professor I've had so far! The worksheets and tests can be challenging, but he is ALWAYS happy to help during office hours. He will do everything he can to make sure you get a fair grade, and I wouldn't want to take this class with anyone else!
David cares a lot about his students; he will always make sure he takes however much time you need to understand the material. But his organization is jumbled; the first quiz was open book online, the second closed book on paper (not on the syllabus). He doesn't explain things very clearly, but if you put in time outside class he should be ok
Great lecturer; very knowledgable and passionate. Often included real-world examples and analogies with lectures. Problem sets and exams weren't too difficult to understand, and the class seemed to score well overall. The website and materials he uses seems a bit outdated and hard to navigate, however.
I would 100% recommend taking Professor Mustard! He was a great teacher and really cares about his students succeeding. Material was not easy, but he takes time to stop and make sure students understand. His final exam reviews are very helpful and he is a great teacher overall!
Mustard knows a lot about real world economics, but that doesn't make him a great teacher. He doesn't give a lot of practice, just 5 problem sets all semester. He also doesn't post a single grade all year, which was incredibly frustrating. The class isn't impossible, but I don't really recommend him.
The lectures and notes outlines were a little disorganized, but Mr. Mustard's office hours are extremely helpful. It's obvious he really cares about his students and is always willing to work with you when you need help. The tests are very similar to the homework, so it's not too difficult to prepare for.
Awesome professor who cares about his students. Go to office hours if you're confused. Not easy, but very manageable if you put in the time.
He rambles a bit, but overall he's caring and flexible on stuff if you email him. He clearly loves the material he's teaching and is constantly applying it to the real world. If you never read the textbook, you might fall behind on the math part, but he teaches the concepts and application extremely well and gives great supplemental resources.
Great professor, had him for 2106H and 4010. Defenitley a tough class, but Mustard is super accessible and wants you to do well. Go to office hours, he will help you out. One of my favorite professors at Georgia.
He teaches economics like a law professor, and that's a good thing for this class. Go to his lectures, go to office hours, and be sure to study. Great lecturer. Tough grader, but he provides a ton of feedback. He wants you succeed!
one of the best professors i've had at uga. his class is hard for sure, there are like fifteen huge concepts and topic you need to know for the exam but only 2-3 of them are actually tested. it is certainly not easy and can be frustrated, but he is very accessible outside class. definitely take him if you want a class where you'll actually learn.
Professor Mustard is amazing. He is very nice and well respected in the econ department, and his research is very interesting. He's willing to work with you if you don't do so well on one exam by weighting it lower. My only complaint is that there were not nearly enough practice problems, which made it really hard to study for the midterms.
Dr. Mustard is a great professor for this class. He's passionate and hilarious. I was unsure about this course due to the law aspect, but he makes it very interesting. His grading is very lenient. I highly recommend taking this class for an ECON elective.
Mustard has really been an amazing professor. You can tell he cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He always stays after classes to answer lingering questions and encourages students to participate in lectures. His coursework is easy enough if you go to class and do his assigned homework.
Good professor but it can be hard to take notes during his class bc its just so much information and depending how good of notes you take will impact your test results. Hes specific on what he wants and is a tough grader which can be hard since some test questions can be a bit broad. His tests are written answer with little to no multiple choice.
He's nice but this class is tough. It's so much information per section and his tests can cover anything even things he spends a minute lecturing on is fair game. He's also very picky about wording on exams. If it's not worded like her wants then you won't get a good grade. It's fun though if you like a challenge and can take good notes.
Dr.Mustard was a very knowledgable professor and lectured on topics it was clear he was passionate about. Attendance is not mandatory at all but the lectures are helpful to attend, homework was few and far between and the tests were relatively easy as long as you study at least a little bit. Great professor highly recommend!
He's the goat. Fantastic lecturer who teaches the material, yet is lenient in grading. He is awful at using ELC though, so you may not know your grade for a while.
He's a great prof. Super chilled out, really easy to reach outside of class. Exams and homeworks are really easy. He was kind of disorganized and waits till the absolute last minute to post grades on eLC but apart from that, I have 0 complaints. Definetly take him.
Surprisingly one of the hardest courses I've taken, Hes picky with grading exams, if the wording isn't exact you'll get lots of points off. Not a disability friendly class, didn't feel he was very accommodating or kind about it, group project with little instruction, hard to get a hold of by email and isn't forward with answers if asked in person.
I hate leaving this review because he's a decent professor…. If you're not a DRC student. This is the least accommodating class I've had in my college career. Had I known this prior I wouldn't have taken it. I'm not asking for handouts but not even the bare minimum is met and he doesn't seem like he knows how to handle students with disabilities.
David is a great person, but his lectures are all over the place. I had to teach myself 90% of this class through online resources. The tests are condensed and if you slip up on 3-4 questions you are looking at a C. I would stay away.
As a senior, Professor Mustard is my favorite professor that I have ever taken at UGA. He cares so much about his students, has super interesting law & econ lectures, and easy tests (if u study). The material may seem complicated at first, but he is very accessible outside of class for any questions. He also gives the textbook for free. Take him!
Mr Mustard is a great guy don't get me wrong. Though, he is the most disorganized professor. Tests aren't inputted into a grade book. Homework is random and he'll assign it the day of in class. Lectures are all over the place and tough to take notes. You have no idea your grade until transcripts are released. The class itself is simple if you try.
Hes a bit disorganized, he only has a note outline and required readings on elc and if you don't go to class you will fail. His class Is really difficult just because of the sheer amount of things to learn and he can test some the most obscure things. For an Econ elective personally I devoted more time studying this class than I did accounting. GL!
Mustard is far from a bad professor but the course is just information overload. He provides you with skeleton notes and that's it. Lectures are all word to mouth and you have to pay real close attention to the smallest details because you may be tested on it. He's also very disorganized and takes very long to grade. Good luck.
Dr. Mustard is a great guy and his lectures were engaging but 2106 was so hard with him as a non-Terry major even though the material was not difficult (I think he is used to teaching 2106H). He used Achieve for the text which was easy to navigate. My biggest issue is that his tests were about 16-20 questions so there was not much room for error.
He is a very nice guy, but extremely disorganized. It was hard to know what your grade was at any point in the class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you have to go because the notes that he posts are just an outline and not very helpful. The exams were pretty short, around 16-18 questions, so you don't have much room to miss questions.
Not a fan of his teaching style–reads off an outline and elaborates, without often writing down his elaborations on the outline, which will always be on the test. Tests require a lot of knowledge about what happened in class, so while attendance isn't mandatory, you should go. You don't have to study a lot, but you will have to study.
It is hard to get an A in this class since there are a few questions and the multi choice has high points. I got one wrong out of 9 questions and was already down to a 93... You need As on nearly every test if you want an A...There is an accumulative final which is 30%. No extra credit. Not a pleasant class
I couldn't recommend Mustard more. He gives you a genuine understanding of the content which serves as a great foundation for econ. His tests are definitely ion the harder side but the support he gives you makes them very doable. Great guy and clearly wants everyone to succeed.
Great guy with a passion for teaching but he is a bit outdated. Uses some old Terry website he's been using forever instead of ELC. Doesn't do slides or anything, has like a bullet list of what he goes over so its essential you go to class. Can be a bit of a scrabble brain so pay attention. Only real practice is the given HW for exams.
He's ok, but I disagree with how he teaches. Sometimes, he just talks about things that aren't so important. The study guides are useless & you basically have to teach yourself...I wish he gave more practice problems. It's very easy to lose points on the test. I got 2 wrong in multiple choice and I got an 86. No skoolers, unlike the other teachers.
takes a while to get tests back, often unclear what from the lectures will be on tests, shows political bias and then claims that it's empirical and tests you on it. the course was built 20 years ago and very obviously has changed little since then–deeply needs a refresh.
He's nice but his lectures are disorganized and dry so it was difficult to take notes and stay focused during class. Tests have 12-14 questions. The outlines kind of help to study for tests if you attend the lectures. Make sure to do your best on test 1 as it has the easiest material.
He's a messy lecturer, and only keeps up an outline while going over points. Additionally, theres like ZERO margin for error on the tests. Get two MCQ wrong, and your grade drops to an 86. ZERO extra credit offered as well; you have to be perfect throughout the year on every test. Not a hard course by nature, the no margin for error makes it hard.
I believe I am getting a B but not sure. I think he's a great professor, his research and background is really interesting and stands out. This class made me interested in Economics, and if I had taken it back in freshman year I definitely would have considered a double major.
Dr. Mustard takes time to get to know the students (knows everyone's name) and has a lot of professional experience to pull from for lectures.
Mustard is a solid professor for the honors section of the course and makes a good effort to get to know and connect with students. Very good natured guy but he can be a bit disorganized as a professor and there are no slides just a notes outline that does not make sense if you miss class. Would definitely still recommend.
Takes FOREVER to grade. The project is worth 15%, and could be a beneficial cushion to your grade, but has taken over a month to grade it. No mention of when it will be done, or if it will ever be done. We are scheduled to take our next exam before getting the last exams grades back. Interesting class, but unnecessarily stressful.
Gave a speech about how no one in his lifetime has been more influential in defending the right to free speech than Charlie Kirk. Take that as you will
most people that don't do well in this class just dont show up, which is super important bc he dosent post any slides, but the tests are VERY reflective of what we do in class. A little more structure would be nice, but if you're willing to put the work in you should get an A. Prob easiest/least math-y elective and great option for prelaw ppl!
So disorganized that it's hard to get anything of quality out of the class. Takes forever to grade. Test questions are opened ended: example define ___. If you give a good definition but forget to mention a side part bc you want to actually complete the long exam you will get points off. Also project based off hertiage foundation data (VERY biased)
