Really cool professor. Class was always fun to attend, that's why I took both HIS 121 and 122 with him. I learned a lot about US history.

Very nice guy. Rambles a lot but it keeps the class exciting. May sound like a "stoner" but he really just enjoys what he does. VERY INTELLIGENT. Pretty cute. Take him if you want to learn. He does make you earn your own grade. Over all, the best teacher I have ever had!!!!

I was very afraid of taking HIS due to a poor experience from a previous HIS class. Dr. Neff is fabulos. Makes the class interested. You will be require to due somewhere around 10-15 journal assignment from the new. You'll have until the end of the semester to turn them in and it counts as a test grade. With my class we also had 3 in-class test.

He is the spiffiest professor I have ever had! He makes this subject fun, despite my distaste for it. I just wish I was good at his fill-in-the-blank tests because I suck at them!

I love Neff. Hes so funny and in tune with whats going on. While he does tend to go on tangents that lose a day of lecture, he is always sure to make it up the next class meeting. If you take good notes during his lectures and follow the study guides youll do fine. Buy the book cause he sometimes lets you use them on tests and the final! Take him!!

i took neff in the summer he is a cutie. brn again and mentions jesus a lot but what ever. good teacher easy tests no research paper. i would take him in the summer because its shorter and he doesnt do much.

Very nice guy. Spends wayyy too much time trying too hard to show minorities that he likes them. He really knows and loves history, which is very contagious. He would be more effective teacher if he would spend more time on history and less time trying to make political statements on minorities and being a kissup. Methinks he doth protest too much

AWESOME, CRAZY, WONDERFUL professor. Goes on rants but it is amazing how he pulls it all together. He goes over stuff of thats going to be on the test very thoroughly. DEFINATELY take his class!!!

History has never been my forte, but this guy has a way of making history come alive! He is awesome! Easy on the eyes too!

The best teacher that I've ever had!!!! He really makes history seem so much more interesting than it really was. There were only 3 tests and one 10 page journal article! Very easy course! I got an A!! I def. suggest taking his class, especially if you hate history, he makes it so much better!

He is AWESOME!! He teaches you history like it is a story and sometimes goes off on what is going on int he world today. Very helpful teacher, very nice laid back type of guy!! He gives you 10 articels to do by almost the end of the semester very easy it is based on your opinion. I recomend you take him!!

Nice guy..passionate about History. Only warning is that he gets on tangents daily, then crams the info into about two fast-paced lectures before a test. Tests are not an "easy A" so you should definitely read since he doesn't really lecture everything. He only lectured half material for final exam, gave study guide and said, "look the rest up."

Dr. Neff is a great professor. He is very passionate about history. Test are very difficult but as long as he see's that you put forth effort you should have no problem passing. I would recommend his class.

I really enjoy his class. I have always disliked history, but he makes it into a story and the time seems to fly by. He gets in tangents sometimes and it is really funny. The class isn't always easy, but he does whatever he can to help his students out. Awesome teacher and I would recomend him for everyone, specially people who don't like History.

Got an A in his class, hes just a fun teacher. He makes you want to come to class. If your new and are going to take him this semester I advice to stay out of the discussions in class, the more people talk about themselves the longer class is, just a little advice...

Great teacher! Journals are easy and can be fun, the tests are somewhat difficult, but the journals and attendence and extra credit easily make up for it. Interesting and fun class!

I have always had an interest in history. Dr. Neff made the learning experience enjoyable. He shows a passion for the material in general, and teaching, in particular. I would highly recommend this instructor to anyone wanting a good learning experience without the burden of a highly structured, boring environment. But you better sign up early!

He makes history, which is usually a dull class, extremely fun and informative. He also does a great job of covering current issues in his class. He doesn't use the book at all and just teaches off the top of the head, which allows him to put more information into his lectures than what could be learned by reading. Sign up for his class ASAP!

I got an A in this class. He is never boring and is always talking about something interesting. Yet, he is very opinionated. But he's cute..so who cares!

Great prof. Relates topics to current events to keep class relevant. Doesn't use book, but covers important topics completely. Strongly recommend!!!

He is so funny! I loved his class. Test are easy. The material he teaches is easy. He acts out certain people he is talking about. Hes really smart never used the book. He can relate to all kinds of students. Hes like a "surfer dude." Take his class you will learn something.

his class is wonderful although the test are somewhat hard. you either had to read the textbook, reread notes, or actually remember EVERYTHING he said during class.

Neff is a great teacher. He really cares about the subject that he teaches and he gives rare information on historical people and situations. Be prepared for a life changing class, a caring teacher and an open enviroment to express your points of veiws. David Neff is a terrifically funny and wise teacher. Take him and prepare to be amazed. I took him for 121 & 122. dont buy the book, you will never use it. he teaches off of memory which makes him that much more interesting. Take notes during class, and participate in his Jeopardy test reviews and you will do fine on the tests. he gives extra credit for almost anything. and as long as you do your journals you will pass.

He talks waaay too much and he really isnt that hot! i wouldn't recommend him to anyone who likes getting out of class early! he will talk you to death right until the last second; and not about history or anything historically relevant but about his wife and in-laws and their dogs and HIS religious beliefs. I took him for 121, 122, and 262 and I HATED history! He was BY FAR the best history teacher if not just the best teacher I've ever had! He really makes you think and he definately doesn't preach to you and he for sure isn't offensive! Take his class, go to class, don't buy the book but study your review page and you'll make an A!

Neef is fun teacher. He talks a lot of his family and past life. Much of his side talk is comparing history on movies. However, movies does not make an "A" on the exam. Test not easy.

Dr.Neff was a GREAT teacher. I was not at all interested in history before taking this class. He made it interesting and keep my attention. I received a "B", for someone who is not a history person, this is pretty good. Take his class you won't regret it!!

I took Dr. Neff for His 121, 122 and a film class. He is an amazing teacher. I would recommend him to everyone. He's inspiring, smart, funny, and just an all around good guy. He makes you think about life in general and not history alone. I wish he taught more classes...I'd take them all.

How could you not like this guy? He makes a friend out of every student in his class. He made it almost impossible to fail. All you had to was show up...that's it, & you got an A. The only homework you had was to write a paragraph about the movie you watched, but you only have to do it 6 times. Sign up fast cuz it fills up quick.

I hated history before Dr. Neff. Now it is my favorite class. Though attendance is not mandatory, I assure you that you will not want to miss his class. Plus some of the test material is from class notes. He really makes learning history fun!

The best Prof I've ever had! I took 2 different classes from him this semester. He catches your attention and holds it. Dr. Neff's film class was outta this world... i passed with an A. He broadened my horizons and reminded me of how well an idea can be expressed through film. We saw V for vendetta, Dogtown and the Z boys(the documentery), The rumble in the Jungle, The movie about the Funk Brothers of Motown, Thin Red Line, CSA, and The Quiet Man..Take if you can!

He's really down to earth & likes to talk history, but does tend to go off into other things, but you still learn a lot. He's really helpful, & would give the shirt off his back for you. I nvr saw anyone NOT pass the class. He loves his daughter & ended class a lil early alot to be with his family. Moderate textbook use. Attendance is mandatory.

Dr. Neff has a passion for life, his family, his spiritual beliefs and for teaching. He doesnt conform his teaching methods to what many consider conventional. He takes what could be considered boring facts in history and tells stories that make the facts interesting and memorable. There are tests and assignments. Effort = success.

He is very passionate about teaching and turns an otherwise boring class into one that is really interesting. He spends alot of time talking about politics and present day issues. The textbook isn't needed if you attend class and take notes. He gives you a study guide and the tests are very easy if you study.

Dr. Neff is a great teacher. His class was fun and very easy - no homework and NO ESSAYS, just a few fill-in-the-blank/true-false tests. However, don't take him if you don't want a very liberal professor, or if you're looking for a challenging course. He's a great guy, though, and a fun teacher.

I took both HIS 121 and 122 from Dr. Neff. Best history teacher I've had by a long shot. Yes he is easily sidetracked and goes off on tangents constantly...but you can tell he actually cares about what he's teaching. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Best teacher you'll ever have. Got to be stupid not to take his class. He seeks to inspire not to instruct. Easy 'A' plus a fun class atmosphere to be in. Easy A. If you enjoy listening to profs rant about their opinions and never asking yours, then this course is for you. You shouldn't take this course if you actually enjoy learning new things because you'll be wasting your time, unless you skipped jr year. However, Neff's a good guy who cares about his students but not enough to learn their names.

To be honest, no teacher I had explained history the way Dr. Neff did. He encourages students to think for themselves and not just take what you have been told. If you skim or read the chapters before class, you will be able to follow along just fine for discussion. You will leave class inspired and encouraged. Take good notes. Highly recommend!

I have only had this teacher for about a week now, and WOW! Never was into history before but I love my Tuesday/Thursday class.....having a teacher that is easy to look at is good for my grades, he really makes me want to pay attention.

I was totally dreading coming to this class becuz I hate history n I didn't think my brain would work so early in the morning. But Dr. Neff made it so interesting I have no problem staying interested in hi class. He starts each day listening to music & relating all of it back to history. You definately wanna take his class...you'll learn a lot.

MUST ATTEND CLASS! He emails a 'study guide' (list of terms) for each Unit, print them and use them for note taking in class lecture. I NEVER did the chapter readings, I only looked up terms in the index for clarification. Grade in class comes from 4 tests (25 ? each) ONLY. Overall easy course with minimal work. His examples are funny!!

I took Dr. Neff's HIS 121 Class for the Fall 2010 Semester and here's what I have to say. He makes history fun. He has a strong interest in history. He makes the class laugh every time we have class. I plan on taking him next semester. I highly recommend him for HIS 121 & HIS 122.

Hes awesome. You learn so much and don't have to do any work. He makes history like a big gossip story. He'll give you a list of terms which make up the test and explain what you need to know about those terms to ace it. He tends to have strong views but he is never offensive about them. Neff is an AWESOME teacher! I took him for both his 121 and 122 and I walked out of the class every day wishing it was an hour longer. He has a great personality and he knows his material. Awesome profesor, very clear, and keeps you paying attention. Also loves to show youtube videos. Will give extra credit for doing things like going to a concert at the local bar, just to get his students to get out and experiance the world a bit. Highlight of my classes.

I took HIS 121 the 8wks class. The book is not needed, he'll give you a list of terms he goes over in his lecture so if you take notes you'll have them. He reviews before the test & there's no word bank on the test so dont wait till 2 days before to study. Not hard if you make the effort, I could have done better if I studied more

By far one of my favorite teachers at TCC thus far! He makes class fun and interesting, and for someone like me who is anything but a history buff that is awesome. He does tend to go off on tangents but his tests are super easy and as long as you show up for review classes you'll be able to pass the test no problem! Taking him again next semester!

Dr. Neff is unorthodox - even rebellious; incredibly open and friendly. This means he may show up late to class, tangent habitually, and altogether present an atypical history class. But there is a strength in this: Dr. Neff imparts life wisdom and an original insight into the American mind. All in all glad to have him at least once.

He is an amazing teacher. I enjoy listening about his travels. He makes history interesting and relates it to the present time. He also goes over what is going to be on the test the class before so you know exactly what questions will be on the test. Very good at making everything come together even if he may not stay on topic the whole time.

Dr. Neff is a real enjoyable human being to interact with. He likes to talk and goes off topic but it's always entertaining. He doesn't require you to buy the book and you definitely don't need it. He does an exam review the class before the test. You could pass this class with just attending the exam review and the exams.

Don't buy the book! Mr. Neff is really good about taking the material and putting into a story like format. He is very knowledgeable about history and makes it very interesting. I feel when he goes off topic, his opinions can be off putting. Be prepared for that. Otherwise, I did learn a lot and I did like his style of teaching.

You will learn sooo much (not just about the subject - in fact, probably mostly not of the subject) in his class! And learn a lot about life! Awesome experience. Most recommended teacher!

Really good professor! He has a love for History and very straight forward. there are no essays, only 4 tests. the class before the tests are review days and you DO NOT want to miss that day because he pretty much tells you whats on the test. and if you study it you will get a good grade. HIGHLY reccommend him!

No paper assignments or homework. Gives extra credit variously. Usually through movies. Extra credit can be used for the final. Minimum of 4 test. All easy. Sends vocabulary via email. Responds to email. Easy to talk too. Cares about his students. DO TAKE HIM EASY A!! Had him for US History 122 too had the same outcome.

Dr. Neff is a fantastic man. He can get off topic in class sometimes, but his main goal in the class is to simply get people to think about things, not just history. He does not use the textbook. He gives a review the day before every test and gives the terms that will be on the test and important information for each term. Super easy class.

Professor Neph is good. He gets off topic a lot though. Sometimes you will spend majority of the class watching his Youtube videos. However when he does talk about History, he is so passionate and makes it, fun, interesting, easy, and easy to remember. Highly suggested.

He is a great teacher and makes history interesting! I see some off topic rates but its all in good fun and it's to make it so you're not over whelmed with facts or sleeping every dang class. He makes history awesome and that is so important!

I had the pleasure of taking 121 and 122 during the same semester with Professor Neff. Very humble and understanding individual. Treats students like adults and that's how they respond in the classroom. Easy A's. I wish I could take more history classes. I learned about history and realized there are still some great people who just love to teach.

He reviews everything before the test and gives key terms before each section. The book is recommended, but you don't need to bring it to class and can get all your info off the internet. Hes usually late to class, but knows a lot about history. Easiest class I have ever taken. Do the bare minimal and you will get an A.

Dr. Neff is a great professor but not if you prefer by the book instruction. Exams are based on his very entertaining history lectures and he rewiews them the class before the exams so attendance is key. He can go off topic during the lectures about current events but they are fun, engaging, life lessons. Tests are easy! Would take again!

He is not concerned with testing you to achieve a grade, but rather that you walk away from his class with a better understanding of the past. Laid back guy but also very upbeat and energetic. I was never really into learning much about history before his classes but he makes even history interesting and enjoyable. I actually considered taking an extra history class, even after my Gen Ed's were done, because he was that awesome.

He has an unrevered passion for history and the off-topic things he goes into makes it more interesting. There are usualy 3-4 exams and one of maybe a take-home exam. Extra credit consists of watching history related films in your spare time. You can get an "Easy A" as long as you're there for Exam Review days, he tells you the questions.

Took as a summer 8 week class. I was dreading having to take history but Dr. Neff is the man and probably my favorite professor. I actually couldn't wait to come to his class. He knows how to make history fun and more understanding. There was a midterm and final with 36 questions each. No power points, SHOW UP THE DAY BEFORE THE TEST!!!, EASY A

No book is necessary, but taking notes is a smart idea. Pay $10 for his book, and you get 3 points extra credit. Attending history class is actually interesting, because of him.

Really easy class... you don't have to take notes, just listen to him and he loves when people participate in lecture but he won't make anyone. He's really funny and just an overall nice guy, he's also very into history and you can tell he's passionate about it. Easy going professor, easy A you have to actually try to fail even then you may still pass. Attendance only mandatory on review days, but the lectures are thought provoking and worth showing up for.

He lectures every class but his lectures are entertaining and he does easy extra credits like watch movies or jeopardy. Just make sure you are there on the days that he reviews for the tests and you will pass with an A.

I took Dr. Neff for both HIS121 and HIS122. He is an amazing professor who actually connects with the students and cares. His class is super laidback filled with jokes and off topics about life. There is extra credit and only 3-4 test which are fill in the blank and true/false. Extremely easy and fun class!

His lectures are kind of out there at times, but he is hilarious, has a very thin filter (hope you're not too sensitive), and very informational! Never though i would actually care about history until now. I have learned a lot more than i expected to!

Professor Neff is the best and has a PhD so don't let his beach shorts and laid back vibe throw you off. HE teaches with a passion, starting every class with some throwbacks and somehow connecting it all back to the lesson. If you are sensitive then dont take him. Attendance isnt mandatory but just show up and be attentive and you wont regret it.

I am currently in his U.S history class and it is a very easy class. His lectures can be very boring at times and off topic but, he is a very funny person. Always tells jokes and he also knows what he is talking about. Just come to test review days and show up for the test. Would recommend to students who want an easy A.

8 wk class. Dr. Neff teaches by lecture, if you are easily offended don't take the class. He brings up touchy topics from history & uses language that was used back then. He knows his history, is very passionate & wants his students to think for themselves & speak up in class so you can challenge each others thought process to see others views.

Dr. Neff is by far the most passionate professor I've had yet. There's not much work but participation and attendance is strongly encouraged. He really cares about his students and loves his job. However, if you can't handle any different point of views, then I wouldn't suggest him.

If you don't pass the class you are literally doing nothing. You only have 2 test and they are both open notes. No accumulative final exam. No textbook is needed, just show up to class. Do not skip class or you will miss a good laugh. When grading the test you send him the score you got.

This class was the best history I've ever taken. I don't like history but he got me to enjoy it. We only had two test but they were easy. The lectures were also long but he showed videos throughout so I feel like that helped. I signed up for another one of his classes that's how much I enjoyed taking it.

Great professor if you don't want to spend money on textbooks and have a good time in class. He requires no textbook and the tests are easy and fun.

Don't buy the textbook teaches based on his own knowledge through yt video and music. Only 3 take home open note exams all semester that you grade as a class. Can get distracted with his personal political opinions which you just have to sit through. Overall very loving and recommends tv shows and movies for the class.

Professor. Neff was pretty good. His only grades were these take home test that we graded in class and he is very trusting and honest with his students. He is easy to talk to and is open ears. As far as his lessons I did learn a lot as he knows how to keep your attention by comparing history to up to date shows or media.Overall, it was a fun clas.

Professor Neff's HIS121 class is an absolute must-take. His engaging lectures, care for students, and flexible assessments make for an enjoyable learning experience. I found unstuckstudy ai particularly helpful for exam prep alongside the open-book format.

Dr. Neff makes history interesting! he does go on a political tangent now and then, But politics shape history. We had different political views, however, we got along well. His class and assignments are easy to follow. Had taken 2 classes with him, and I wish I could take another one. His class fills up quickly, so don't wait to enroll!

Dr. Neff is a real passionate guy when it comes to history. He makes the lectures engaging, and wants to make sure EVERY student succeeds. There's zero homework, and all the tests are take-home. The only flaw I would say is that he occasionally gets distracted to go on political tangents, but just ignore it and you'll come out with an easy A.

Even if you have to switch things around you should 100% take this class. his lectures were so funny, and he doesn't give any homework, and the only 2 assignments he gave were tests that you could do on your own time that were open note. I took his humanities 259 class and he was very nice and funny. he always had some interesting topics to talk about and would make the class giggle. his assignments he would assign weren't even that bad. At max I would spend 2 hours on them.

Very passionate speaker and intriguing lectures that will keep you entertained. You don't even have to show up to the class if you don't want to but why would you even do that? He does show up late pretty often though and can get off topic pretty easily. He can also be vulgar at times too but he is still an interesting person to listen to.

He is interesting. I mean that in the absolute best way. He has hearing problems, and the class gets a good kick out of it. You will laugh for most of the class. It is a good break if you need an elective requirement when the rest of your classes are very time consuming. I often did work for other classes. However, I enjoyed going to his lectures.

I would take his classes over and over again if I could. Very funny, passionate, and truly cares about his students and their grades. I actually looked forward to my zoom classes because I was excited for what I'd learn that night. Take simple notes and you'll have no issue passing his class.
