He likes to talk a lot. However, I didn't especially like his lectures. They were quite boring. His tests were fair, but slightly difficult. He has a lot of assignments which is what makes the class more difficult in my opinion.
Not very exciting lectures. Very nice man, happy to answer questions. Tests are ok-gives you a study guide for them. So if you use the guide, you should do fine on tests. Lots of assignments, but most are easy and don't take very long.
I love what i learned in this class but I did not like the instructor. To me, his opinions were annoying and I could not keep up with the constant assignments on top of my other work load and small attempt at a social life! He just rubbed me the WRONG way.
This class was ok. Dr. Nelson gets off the subject a lot and hardly ever got through the slides. The lectures were pretty boring too. But, I did like his tests. They were very fair.. no guessing if you studied. I did not like the TA, though. She's so picky reading our papers and tore them apart.
My FAVORITE CLASS! I dunno if all the other comments took from the same professor as me because I loved the lectures! Professor Nelson is an amazing man, understands his field well, has concern for his students and has stories to illustrate the things we are learning.
I really liked this teacher and found his class interesting. I don't recommend taking this class (Socialization Across Childhood) during Spring/Summer like I did, becuase there is a lot of reading and he doesn't cut back at all.
So boring! I took the evening class so the lectures were extra long. He talks too much about himself and doesn't invite any class participation. I was really excited to take this class, but was disappointed.
Enjoyed the lectures especially how he used sound and video clips from his own children to backup what we were learning in class. The tests are hard but the papers are not to bad.
his lectures have nothing to do with his test. the test are hard and it was a waste of three credits
He gives you a comprehensive study guide of everything that'll be on the tests, so go through the book and find the answers and you'll do well. There are 3 papers, each increasing a bit in difficulty. You really don't need to go to class, reading and writing the papers is more important.
If you put forth the effort in his class you will do great. Doing the reading, going to class, and studying for the test will pretty much garuntee an A. The papers can be kind of hard but just make sure to use the TA lab. He is really helpful to students outside of class and very willing to hear your concerns about the class and answer questions.
I love Dr. Nelson! The study guides are very exact, study them thouroughly and you will get A's. Take your papers to the TA labs and you can also get A's on the them. He tells you exactly what to do to get an A, just do it. He is nice, helpful, fun, and very organized. Me and my roommate plan on taking him for every class we can!
Dr. Nelson is a very good teacher. He gives lots of useful examples. He makse you actually think about what he is teaching. His lectures were very enjoyable. We didn't talk much about the topics for the papers before they were due, which made them hard to write. But this is not his fault since the department organizes when the papers are due.
The tests were easy if you did the reading. Remember to read so you can click yes for the clicker activities. THey add up and I deprived myself of these opportunities. Don't do the same as me. Not a bad guy. Tallest teacher I've ever had. Do the review sheets, they'll help for the test.
I thought this class would be pretty easy when I signed up, but it turned out to be the opposite. Lectures were relatively fun, but the tests were difficult. Make sure to keep up on the reading from the start, and really really study the review sheets. Watch out for the papers, pay close attention to the writing guide and do exactly what it says.
Tests are really hard with weird wording. He likes using clickers even though it's pointless. Even though I didn't take the other Nelson, I would recommend Larry Nelson instead of David Nelson.
great teacher. i really learned a lot in this class. the tests are hard, but if you read and study hard you'll do fine. make sure to do the reading to get the clicker quiz points.
Dr. Nelson is a FANTASTIC professor! He is very insightful and ties the gospel into the course material, which I really liked. He is hilarious and askes for a lot of participation, which makes the lectures really enjoyable. The class is a lot of work, but if you put in the effort, you'll be fine. I would definately recomment Dr. Nelson!
Dr. Nelson is one of the best professors I have ever had! Classes are enjoyable and leave pleanty of time for discussion. It's easy to see that he is passionate about families and wants to help students understand the material. I grew a lot in this class and I will keep the readings forever!
This was a really interesting class. Dr. Nelson has a great teaching style, and you'll like his class if you have any interest in child development. Not too hard--do the reading, go to class, use the study guides. Highly recommended!
Dr. Nelson tried to scare us away the first day but I stuck to it and the class was really interesting. He is very clear and helps you when you are writing your paper for the semester. Sometimes the powerpoints were not very interesting but other times he'd use home videos to illustrate his point and that was more interesting. Recommended!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I really enjoyed everything about the class! If you follow along with the powerpoint notes that you get at the copy center and study those, you will do great! Tests are very fair. Lectures are really enjoyable and he tells great stories. Movie clips greatly enhance lectures! I would take the class again in a heartbeat!!!!!
Iclicker quizes on if you did the reading were annoying. Great lecturer, very entertaining. Do the study guides and tests are easy. Have TAs review your papers and the grade improves.
Great lectures, entertaining and interesting. Graded on 3 papers, and 4 tests. DO THE TEST REVIEWS! everything on the test in the review sheet--KNOW IT BACKWARD & FORWARD. TA's grade papers but NElson will regrade it if you think you deserve better. My advice is to work on the review while you read through out the semester.
Dr. Nelson is a great teacher! I hope everyone that plans on being a parent one day takes his parenting class because it was fabulous!
Dr. Nelson is an excellent professor! Know the stuff on the test review well and you will do great on his tests! Papers are annoying (3) but if you take them to the TA's to review, you will get a better grade. I would suggest getting the older textbook(not the new version) because it's just as good and actually correlates with the class better.
He knew what he was talking about, his tests were unfair. When I asked him if I could meet with him to discuss the problem he kept putting me off. When I did get to meet with him he told me I was not a good test taker among other things that made me feel stupid. I kept a 4.0 all through high school yet couldn't get better then a "D" in his class.
I would take another class by Dr. Nelson in a heartbeat. The material and his expectations are clear. He might repeat stories, but not often. Take your papers to the TA?s! ?It will improve your grade significantly! He seems a little quiet, but he is pleasant and has a good sense of humor. It was a very enjoyable class.
Dr. Nelson's class was really enjoyable to attend. He is funny and intelligent. The tests, however are extremely hard because they cover sooo much material. It is hard to get better than a 90 on anything. The papers are graded by really picky TA's. I loved his class, but it's not an easy A.
He is a great teacher. He is very approachable and nice. He explains things well and gives good examples to apply concepts to our life situations. He is very clear and understandable. His tests are not too hard but not too easy. The papers are long and time consuming but not necessarily hard. He is super good!
I LOVED this class. If you are at all interested in this kind of thing, you'll love it. Dr. Nelson is hilarious and ties everything you learn about to real life examples. I looked forward to going to class...never once was a waste of time! Tests are not too bad if you study the powerpoints he puts on blackboard and look over the study guide.
Dr. Nelson is a pretty cool guy. He always had great examples to apply the concepts of the class to. The three papers were very time consuming and rather difficult. The tests also took a lot of time to study for and were just okay. Reading is essentially mandatory because there are iclicker quizzes.
Excellent professor. He's clear and he has a way of making the information interesting. Do the reading, attend class, use the study guides and you'll do well. The papers are difficult. USE THE TA HELP.
Nice teacher but his class is pretty difficult for a 300 level class. Tests are hard and it's hard to know what to study. Classes are boring.
Dr. Nelson is a great professor! He requires a lot of reading and has iClicker quizzes at random. The tests aren't bad as long as you do the study guide. The papers are fine too if you get them double checked by the TA's. Dr. Nelson is also very helpful... if you're confused, he'll explain stuff to you!
Dr. Nelson is a great professor. I leaned a lot and the material was very interesting. I didn't think the class was too hard. As long as you pay attention and take notes in lecture and read the assigned material you'll do fine.
Dr. Nelson was an interesting teacher, and he relies a lot on textbook readings. The papers were interesting and fun, but tests were hard! It took me a while to get used to the test style, but other than that i really enjoyed this class.
Prof. Nelson is a nice guy, and a great teacher. I felt comfortable asking him for help, and his lectures were clear and easy to follow and take notes on. Tests were a bit difficult, but the study guide helps a ton. Papers are fun and easy to understand. I definitely recommend David Nelson (although I have heard that Larry Nelson is even better!)
Lectures are fascinating. The papers take a bit of time, and the tests are a bit difficult, but usually the class sets up a google doc that helps a lot
David Nelson is an awesome Professor! I learned so much in his class, and he always has such fascinating topics to discuss. The papers take some time, but as long as you follow the guidelines, you're good to go. I got 100%'s on two of my papers. Definitely a class worth taking and I'd suggest it for anyone
I loved this class and Dr. Nelson is a great teacher. You do need to do the readings and study a lot, but if you do that you will be fine. I learned so much!
Loved this class! I think about what I learned in here everyday! He is so thorough and uses a billion examples. His tests are difficult but all you have to do is...study. Then you're golden! I really recommend this class
Dr. Nelson is great! He is so helpful and is always willing to talk to you about questions you might have and answer your emails. His tests were long and sometimes tricky, but his study guides really help you get an adequate grade. You use the textbook a lot so make sure you have one to use. And take SFL 210 from him!
Dr. Nelson is absolutely amazing! This was my hardest class that semester but my favorite. There is a lot of reading and the tests and essays are not easy. However, Dr. Nelson's lectures were interesting and applicable to everyday life. He also ties the gospel into mostly all of his lectures, so it was a very uplifting and motivating class.
Dr. Nelson is an excellent teacher. His lectures were very interesting & he puts them on power point which is available for review. His tests are very reasonable and he doesn't try to trick his students. He requires three papers, which can be difficult, if you don't follow his format exactly, but all in all,his class was one of my favorite.

An excellent teacher! I learned tons from his class and always looked forward to going to his lectures. He makes everything interesting and ties it back to a gospel perspective. Tests and essays are challenging so be sure to use the textbook! I highly recommend taking this class from Dr. Nelson!
he's a nice guy, but the lectures were kinda boring. the slides were super wordy, and i would doze off. there's a big paper, but he sets deadlines for rough drafts, so that was helpful and not too bad. i bombed his tests, though.
This was my favorite class last semester! He gave interesting lectures, and I learned a lot. Wasn't too difficult as long as you put the time in. With the three papers, go to the TA's for help b/c they grade them. Really helps! Also, do the assigned readings!
Awesome professor! Really helpful if you need it, keeps lectures interesting. The papers aren't too hard if you go to the TA reviews and get help from them. His tests are particularly hard he just covers a lot of information but if you do his study guides you should be fine.
I really loved Dr. Nelson's class. His lectures are very insightful and you will learn so much. His tests are fair and the workload is pretty light. I highly recommend this class to anyone, SFL major or not!
Dr. Nelson is a great teacher! I always enjoyed his lectures, and he really cares about you succeeding. The papers you have to write are mandatory for all SFL 210, and they're a pain. Go to the TA's for them!! Tests weren't too bad, go over the review sheets really well, and in class notes and you'll do fine:)
Great class! Very informative. There's only three papers and three tests. Make sure you follow all the little instructions for the papers so you don't lose easy points. Tests are not that difficult, a lot of the questions are common sense based.
YOU MUST TAKE THIS CLASS. You learn so much! Tests were more difficult than expected- make sure you THOROUGHLY know the study guide! Papers are tedious (my only complaint). Sit up front- sometimes Dr. Nelson talks very quietly.
Professor Nelson really knows his stuff however his tests were challenging and his lectures were really long. I often found myself watching the clock, counting down the minutes till I could leave. Also there is SOOO much reading for this class.
Lectures are long and boring. He takes a long time to respond to emails. Have to work hard to get extra help. His lectures make sense but tests are difficult. Papers are easy but lengthy. He lectures his beliefs, not just facts that are statistically significant. Pop quizzes are easy but are not weighted high enough to raise your grade.
This class was so easy. I don't get how anyone is saying it was hard.. Literally his tests are just exact copies of what he talks about in lectureshas on powerpoints and if you can get your class to make a googledoc you will be in heaven. I got an A on every test and never opened my textbook. I loved attending lectures and I learned so much.
I LOVED this class! Lectures are very interesting to listen too!
Don't take this class. Lectures are incredibly long and boring. Dr. Nelson is a nice man but very softspoken and not entertaining. Tests are BRUTAL. I got a D on the first one. This class might sound easy, but don't take it.
Professor Nelson is great he gives relatively interesting lectures. You can get an A in the class if you do extremely good on the papers or do good on the tests. Just do the study guides and you can do fine on the tests.
Dr. Nelson is a really good teacher. The class is a lot of work- 3 papers, 4 tests. Tests are based on examples and notes given in lecture as well as from the textbook so you MUST read. Utilize TA's!! Study frequently! Really interesting class though.
Dr. Nelson is a very knowledgeable and kind professor, but his classes can definitely be a little bit dry sometimes. If you do the reading and come to class, you will do fine on the tests, but they will be hard if you haven't prepared by doing those things. Overall, not a horrible class but not the best.
Papers are graded toughly. You will be expected to read an almost 700 p. book. Tests are hard!. Study pretty much only the Study Guides; for me, what seen in class was not a lot of help for midterms. Final not comprehensive. Good lecturer but I didn't like the disconnection between what taught in class and what examined in the midterms.
This class was very interesting! Professor Nelson showed us several examples and videos in class. There are a couple of papers, but they really aren't that bad. They are actually realitivly easy. The tests are the hardest part of this class. I really enjoyed the class.
This was one of the best classes I have taken at BYU. I typically did pretty well and the tests weren't too bad. His assigned readings and lectures were very interesting and engaging. I would recommend this class to everyone! You learn so many useful things about being a parent and raising children. He is also very knowledgable. Wonderful class! :)
Everyone I talked to absolutely loved Larry Nelson, but I LOVED David. The textbook reading is still important, but way to long. Skim it. His study guides are good if you make a google doc. LOVED the papers, I learned more about myself, and it was really fun observing the kids. TALK TO THE TAs about ALL your papers! You can pick up some more points
This class is doable! You'll only get a few more test questions right from doing all the reading (don't stress about it!). He gives a good study guide for the test; Make a class GoogleDoc to collaborate and make sure you know those topics really well - you'll do fine! Go to the TA reviews for papers - they tell EXACTLY what they want to see on them
Loved Dr. Nelson! This class really got me interested in Human Development and actually convinced me to join the major! He is so passionate about this topic and you can really tell. He cares about the students and wants you to succeed!
Professor Nelson is really a great guy! This class is so interesting and you need to go because he gives specific examples in class that are used on the tests & has iClicker quizzes. There are 4 essays but they are very specific with the rubric so just follow it. There are always study guides for the exams and if you know them you will get an A!
Dr. Nelson is an amazing professor. He works really hard to make his slides interesting and the textbook is not bad at all. He also lets anyone who has comments that relate to the lecture share them in class. Class isn't mandatory, but there are daily iClicker quizzes, so if you don't go you can't get an A.
Dr. Nelson is absolutely amazing! His lectures were so interesting and the class is not difficult. There are 3 papers and 3 tests:which aren't hard to get an A on. He tells funny stories, you can tell he is passionate about child development, and he is so friendly. Some students try to take Larry Nelson for SFL210 but I thought David was great!
Prof. Nelson was alright. I didn't enjoy going to his classes but I knew how he graded and that was very clear. He tests a lot but the final wasn't comprehensive which was very nice and he had very clear study guides for all of the tests which helped a lot.
Dr. Nelson is rather quiet but has a sense of humor. Uses lots of entertaining video clips to demonstrate the principles we discuss in class. Papers, though there were only 3, were a big part of the grade. He was fair, but not coddling.
This class isn't too hard, just go to the TA reviews and meet with the TAs separately for the papers. The tests had clear study guides so they weren't too bad. I didn't really enjoy lecture, and even though I sat at the very front of the room I could barely hear him in class. Definitely a nice guy, and not a bad option at all, but wasn't great.
Dr. Nelson was fine. I was really bored during lectures. The test's are mainly based off the reading, which is something I wish I knew at the beginning of the semester. He is super conservative so if you have more liberal views you might get annoyed. Its a fine class, and interesting topics. If there is another professor, take from them.
David Nelson is amazing! For sure would recommend his class- He is absolutely hilarious and his lectures are totally engaging. There are 3 papers you have to write in the year, but if you go to the TA reviews, it is very clear how you need to write them. Definitely would take this class again- One of my favorite classes at BYU yet.
Unless you want an exact repeat of SFL 210, don't take this class. He's great and nice, but you'll hear everything about aggression that you already learned...
Dr. Nelson's lectures were great. Always starts with a prayer and is good at applying a gospel perspective. Presents controversial topics really well and bluntly without being offensive. Reading and attendance required - daily iClicker quizzes and test questions based on specific in class examples and info only in textbook.
3 toughly graded papers, 3 mid-terms, and a final. Some extra credit, I-clicker attendance. Reading is required. Amazing teacher, very kind, knowledgable, and great at relating principles to the gospel! Reviews before each paper and midterm-go to them, they really help. Overall great class, I'd take again, but remember you have to work for an A!
I really enjoyed Dr. Nelson's class. His lectures were really interesting. I would 100% recommend starting your papers early, and filling out the study guide for the tests. Make sure you go to the TA reviews for the papers--it really helps! I did struggle in this class with all the behavioral theories, but they aren't that bad.
I would highly recommend taking SFL 210 from Dr. Nelson. He uses a lot of real-life examples, which help you connect material to your own life. His lectures were very engaging, and you can tell he really cares about his students. To do well in his classes, fill out the study guides! The papers aren't bad at all if you start early and work with TAs.
Loved this class. Lectures were always entertaining and pertinent. Very caring man. Prof. Nelson leans conservative but is usually tactful about both sides of big issues. He definitely knows his stuff. Pro-tips: Go to TAs early to get help with papers. Study guides are online all semester so print them off and take notes as you read the textbook.
I highly recommend Professor Nelson. The readings can be tedious and difficult to get through, but the overall material is not that hard to understand. Lectures were always entertaining and it made me actually want to attend class. For papers just go to the TA sessions and they will help you understand what is needed for the papers.
Dr. Nelson shares a lot of personal examples in lectures that make them fun to listen to. You learn a lot of good things to know for life, especially raising a family. There are readings for each class in the textbook, so yes, you should get it. We had 3 papers and 4 tests over the course of the semester. Overall, a good class to take.
I absolutely loved this class. There are 3 papers but criteria is very specific which makes getting a good grade quite easy. I suggest meeting with the TAs to look over your paper beforehand. Use the textbook to complete the study guides and test will be doable (not easy but doable). I loved the content and Dr. Nelson's teaching style.
Dr. Nelson really knows his stuff. Make sure you attend lectures because there are classroom examples on the exams. Also, reading the textbook isn't completely mandoratory but it helps you feek prepared for lectures. Use the study guides on learning suite! He likes to tell us stories about his kids and how they relate to human development.
There is a lot of reading but Dr. Nelson is the absolute best. Very thorough and explains everything. Loved listening to his experiences and he is hilarious. One of my favorite professors!
Dr. Nelson is somewhat difficult to listen to for an hour and twenty minutes. There is a TON of reading homework and tests ask very specific questions. Very nice professor but lectures are very dry.
Presents the information he prepares well, but is biased towards more stereotypical family/gender role. Is a great class for many, but for people that have more liberal ideas about the family I would not recommend. He is a psychologist and that comes across heavy as he fails in implement the sociological perspective into lectures as he should.
Dr. Nelson is THE BEST! Yes his lectures can be dry and he is specific on tests, but honestly, if you try your best you will most likely get a good grade. The class itself is pretty rough but that's just because of the class. Dr. Nelson teaches in such a way that makes it so fun to learn and he is always so willing to help! BEST professor I've had!
AWESOME class. His lectures are so interesting and he tells a lot of stories about his own kids and other kids. There are 3 pretty lengthy papers, but he and the TAs provide all you need to succeed. He will reach out to people individually if you're struggling on tests and makes sure you don't feel alone and helps you improve. SO recommend.
Great teacher, very caring and knowledgable! Don't skip the readings-a lot from the test comes from these. iClicker quizzes are given nearly every lecture so make sure you're there with your clicker and readings done. Tests are challenging but if you work for it and do well on the 3 essays(go to TA reviews!) this class isn't too hard to get an A in
I loved this class and Dr. Nelson! Tips: Pay attention to the examples he gives during class, they are often on the tests. His tests are only on the current unit. Actually read and internalize information in book. He'll test on specific phrases sometimes. Use the study guide. *GO TO THE TA LAB FOR PAPERS* Come to class for the iclicker points.
Dr. Nelson's human development class consisted of daily readings and short daily iClicker quizzes (which were easy questions like how much time do you spend on media each day). His tests are a little difficult but he holds review sessions and gives good study guides. Papers are easy to get good grades on. Meet with a TA for essay help!!
I loved Professor Nelson!! He cares so much about the class. We only had 3 tests and 3 papers for the whole semester and it was very clear what was required for each of them. Go to the TA sessions for your paper and you are basically guaranteed an A.
4 midterms and 3 papers are your grade.100% recommend him. Interesting and engaging lectures that makes you want to come to class. Caring and wants his students to do well. Best SFL 210 teacher by far. Easy to do well if you go to TA reviews for the papers and study for tests. If you have to take this class (aka prenursing majors) TAKE IT FROM HIM!
Dr. Nelson is a great professor! He is literally the most talented test writer. His tests are very fair if you study. I like all his lectures and things he has to say. He gives a lot of interesting stories along with what you learn. He obviously cares about his students a lot.
Dr. Nelson keeps lectures fun and applicable. The tests do require a lot of studying and are pretty term heavy but passable if you put in the effort. The TA's follow the rubric strictly when grading so it's easy to know what to expect. Dr. Nelson is an all-around great guy and wants to help you succeed. Loved this class!
Dr. Nelson was awesome. He isn't afraid to discuss difficult topics and provides very interesting information that you don't get to hear about. His tests are difficult, but the lectures and topics were very interesting and you enjoy to learn it all. I would highly recommend taking a class from him.
Professor Nelson was great but his class was not the easiest. He tended to make really hard tests that were focused on oddly specific things from both reading and lecture. You really will not pass his tests if you don't do the reading.
Professor Nelson is a nice guy. Sometimes his lectures are boring and tough to pay attention, but the tests are straightforward and he gives good study guides. There's three essays in the class, but if you use the rubrics and TA's you can get an easy A on those. Overall interesting class.
Professor Nelson obviously cares about his subject matter alot, but was not very good at teaching it. The content is really important and can be life changing, but this course was organized very poorly. It felt mostly cobbled together and lacking.
I really enjoyed the lectures and this class in general. Make sure to pay attention because a lot of what he says in lectures are on the exams. Also, I wouldn't recommend procrastinating the essays either. This class was great and even though you have to put in a good amount of effort, if you do the assignments and study you will do fine.
I really believe that David Nelson is a nice person. HOWEVER, I had an extremely difficult time trying to navigate the politics he incorporated into the lecture material. I took big issue with his class centering on news articles and 30-year-old research findings that are likely not appropriate for use in a secondary-level course at research uni.
I would recommend taking this course from Professor David Nelson! His lectures are fascinating and he shows that he really knows his stuff. The papers weren't bad. As long as you fill out the study guide, the exams are fairly easy too.
Dr. Nelson was an amazing professor! He included relevant information from today's world which wove into topics of social development seamlessly. Writing lab is very helpful in terms of getting a decent grade on papers! Study guide covers almost all of what he expects you to know; all of which can be found in his slides or the text book.
Dr. Nelson is great, and so are his lectures. Make sure you follow the study guide while taking notes, and show up to class. He takes very few grades, and one of those grades is random reading checks, so make sure you always go to class. Besides that, his midterms are pretty difficult, so make sure you study and understand the content.
Dr. Nelson is fantastic! His class was so informative & entertaining! He's a great man and so kind when responding to students. I will say that his tests can be quite difficult, but once I got a hang of what kinds of questions he asked on the tests they became way easier! There is quite a lot of textbook reading, but you can skim it & still be okay
There were three papers about 6-8 pages. The second one was the easiest. The tests were each 100 questions, and harder. He had a study guide for each of them, and I recommend using it as a template for notes, but not just relying on it. Reading the text book will also be very helpful for the tests. The lectures were very good, and interesting.
Professor Nelson has great academic insights that often lead to tangents in the lectures. Grade's were occasional reading reflections, three papers, and three tests. That being said, to get an A in this class, you need to get almost perfect scores on those things. I found the paper instructions vague and test questions were often times ambiguous.
Prof Nelson is awesome! Lectures are long but so interesting! He is willing to meet with you to help you with any of the assignments or go over your exams! He sincerely wants students to do well and succeed! His exams are pretty difficult, but he gives you all the tools you need to do well on them.
Dr. Nelson's class is harder than it needs to be but manageable. You have three exams pretty much entirely based on his lectures. He tends to go off-topic in his lectures at times. He also has random reading checks, so attendance is mandatory to get a good grade. Make sure to fill out the study guide as he lectures.
I tried taking his in-person class, but some of his general comments in the first two classes were pretty insensitive, so I opted for the online course which proved to be no different. He knows a lot about the subject matter, but I often felt like some of his inserted personal opinions just weren't kind and didn't need to be included in lectures.
He alone made my experience at BYU worth it! He does his research and his class is fascinating. His class really wasn't that hard as long as you put in the time (which still wasn't a whole lot.) I could see some people getting offended by some things but he backs up all his claims by strong research and it's really good for people to hear the truth
Dr. Nelson's class is challenging but rewarding. Attend lectures, use the study guide, and check out Unstuck AI - it really helps with exam prep. Expect thought-provoking discussions and a fair but demanding workload.
