Wonderful class! There is not a single bad thing anyone could say about Prof. Newswald. He is incredibly organized and he seems to take pride in his work (unlike other psych profs.) He is clear, kind, knowledgeable, funny & fair. Take his class! P.S. You can avoid buying the $90 textbook (and still get an A) by looking it up on google books! :)

He is pretty clear on material but seems to favor men's questions over women's. So long as you dot your I's and cross your T's you'll be fine. Can be rude at times!

Best class ever! Great teacher. EXTREMELY CLEAR and well organized. No book so you can't afford to miss class. Tests are not hard if you attend all classes and read your notes. Lots of practice of concepts in teams. He comes off as distant but actually he is approachable. Very helpful and practical class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

David Neswald is a true professional. His Personality Theory class was informative and insightful. I took away more knowledge from that class than any other class I have ever taken. I am in graduate school now and the crucial information that I have retained in his class continues to pay off.

Great professor and can be humorous at times. Only 4 exams and one final cumulative. Pay close attention in lectures, 98% of it will be on exam. The 2% is from book. The book is only useful for clarity. Prof. drops one bad exam, no extra credit.

Professor Neswald is an incredibly clear professor that understands the field of psychology inside and out. He was a psychologist before deciding to be a professor, and his background experience is what has made him so knowledgeable. I definitely recommend him, even for non-psych majors.

He is very organized and on time, and orderly. His lecture is crystal clear. You need to take detail notes and all the exams based on notes. He will imply all the theories into examples. He is a very helpful and good teacher with rich psychology experience. If you are psych major, he is your choice! His exams are not that hard if you study!

GREAT professor. I took Abnormal & Personality with Neswald this semester and learned so much! He is very organized, punctual and expects a lot from his students. If you're in it to learn you will benefit a whole lot from going to class, reading the book and taking notes from his lectures. Oh, and his exams are a riot!

Strict: no cell phones in the classroom (even if you are not using it). Tests are straight from his lectures. For final grade, if you are 1 point away from an A, he will NOT give you the higher grade. I'm a psych major and this is the only class I got a B in from the 5 classes I took at SMC. Definitely not an easy course!

Neswald is a boring, uninterested teacher. be prepared to sit and copy notes for a straight hour and half. dont show up its a waist of time. just come to take the tests- only points that are given. and dont be fooled by the attendance sheet. spend time that would be in class at your job makin $$. HATE HIM

I never thought much about majoring in psych but he made me consider it for sure. He is organized, clear, easy to understand. Never have hw besides reading chapter (i didn't even get the book, still got an A just based on notes). He is also subtly hilarious and communicates the subject so you understand. Recommended for majors and non-majors alike!

I looked forward to this class every time. His classroom is inviting with Hawaiian music, followed by a feeling of welcomeness. He enjoys teaching and has concern for his students. I appreciated his organization. If you listen to lecture and take time to read the text, you will get a decent grade and will learn about human behavior.
