Professor nugiel is awesome. he really knows his stuff, and he is extremely nice and helpful. never thought i'd understand science so well. book not required
Dr.Nugiel is a highly intellegnt professor. He is extermely helpfull and interesting. It was a pleasure attending his class. I took gen chem 101 in the summer and received an A in his class.
THIS MAN WAS TERRIBLE HE ACTED LIKE EVERYONE WANTED TO BE A CHEMIST HE BECAME VERY FRUSTRATED WHEN ASKED A QUESTION THAT HE ASSUMED WE SHOULD KNEW THE ANSWER TO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MAN TO ANYONE
Great Professor! I never liked chemistry in HS but did good in his class. Not super interesting subject, but Dr. Nugiel was awesome and explained everything!!!
He is a very intelligent person, and makes it clear he is by the way he speaks. He gives you everything you need to pass this class. Not passing is really not something you can blame on him bc he gives you practice problems, reviews for exams, easy labs and sometimes extra credit. The material is hard, but it would be hard with any teacher.
CCCollege is lucky to have Dr. D. Nugiel as a professor. He is very intelligent, caring, open to any questions anytime, and helpful. He is there for each one of his students. The only reason not to get a good grade is you, because he gives you all the resourses to be successful in his class. CHEM 101 is FUN with Dr. D. Nugiel. Thank you, professor!
A good professor with a lot of knowledge. Went into Chem with very little interest but still managed to make it interesting. Only area I would say he could improve in was keeping the student engaged (asking more questions maybe?). I know this is quite hard in practice though.
His class was not easy bc of the material he was teaching, not because he was a bad teacher. He was by far the coolest professor!!
Dr. Nugiel is an awesome Chem Professor. I actually had him for Chem 101 and Chem 102. He cares about the success of his students and he wants his students to walk out with knowledge of the subject (as evidenced by him referring to us as Chemists). The only way to fail is to not put in the work. I am not a Chem major, but he made Chem interesting..
Dr. Nugiel is a very intelligent and friendly teacher. He was always very helpful and answered any questions you have. His lectures and labs were insightful and he would always find ways to relate the material to real life. His class made me gain greater interest into chemistry and he is there to help you pass! plus he uses online notes. no text!
Good Teacher
He was extremely helpful and cares for his students. As a biology major now taking organic chemistry his class fully prepared me. As long as you put the effort and time, you will do well in his class.
Yes, the professor is a nice guy and very helpful but he's pretty boring. It's hard to stay on top with him because the class is sleeping by the time it's breaktime. Labs are useless you don't learn much and the class is taught as if you should already know everything that is being discuessed, when for some its been a long time.
I had Dr. Nugiel for a 5 week summer semester. He was awesome! He does not use the book, he thinks it's too expensive. Instead he has his own website that has powerpoints and lots of great info! I would strongly recommend taking him for all chem classes!!
I came to the class with inadequate algebra training but was highly motivated. This is dense material. His class requires effort and commitment. I was fortunate to have Dr. Nugiel. A less capable professor would not have served my need. I required a MASTER. Dr. Nugiel is a remarkably gifted individual. My success is his success.
Professor Nugiel, ('giel' rhymes with 'well') has a natural gift for teaching and excels at explaining the difficult material in a sequential order and in a way that makes sense and is easier to understand. His speech pattern and sentence structure is akin to that of a textbook - clear and concise! Also VERY willing to give extra help if needed!
This professor is a genius,he cannot transfer his intelligence to an audience well. I have done well on my own merit and reading the book heavily. His lectures end early,he reads bare necessity powerpoints, if you don't follow each lecture with textbook supplementation you're gearing up to fail. Overall I don't recommend but he's the only option!!
Very nice guy. I could have seen this semester going a lot worse than it did. He gives people a chance by allowing them to put in their thought process for answers on the test for partial credit. Overall great professor.
He is really into what he is teaching, he is a true nerd about chemistry and knows what he is talking about. He is extremely organized and has his own website to help you, you do not even need the text book. I studied a little bit each day using practice problems from his site and passed with an A+!! He also is extremely nice and approachable!
I had Dr. Nugiel 2 semesters in a row and although I did put an extreme amount of time into his class (its organic chemistry), he made me appreciate the content. I never did well in chem, but he is a great teacher. He is so fair and kind, you will never have any problems approaching him about helpgrades, he makes himself available to his students
You won't need a textbook but I would recommend it. He uses questions from the back of the textbook for homework problems but will post copies of the problems and the answers on his website. Teaches directly from power points, which are also available on his website. He is a fair grader and always responds to emails rather quickly.
Took him for chemistry 101, since textbooks are expensive he gives the class packets. His tests are based off the packets and he has test review before the day of the exam. He wants his students to succeed and he will do what it takes only if you have interest in the course. Also, his humor is hilarious. He keeps the class interesting!
Had this guy for chem-101. Everyday was like a whirlwind of information flew by our heads. Not so much teaches you as talks at you. Really polite and approachable though.
I took Dr. Nugiel the 1st session of summer. I went into this class completely clueless to chemistry and terrified. I had to work my butt off in this class but he is an amazing professor to have! He helps in any way he can. He will take many different approaches to explain something until you feel comfortable with the material. I HIGHLY recommend!
Dr Nugiel is a really good professor, helps students, you can get an A if you are ready to work for it.
Great teacher. He really cares about students doing well in his class. Chemistry is a hard subject, but he makes it as easy on students as he can. Stays late after class to help, and is friendly also. Taking him this spring for Chem 102!!!
Great teacher. He really cares about students doing well in his class. Chemistry is a hard subject, but he makes it as easy on students as he can. Stays late after class to help. Make sure you study study study
He is a genius in chemistry but sometimes he is rude ......
Great Guy, he may be slightly sarcastic, but it promotes an aspiration to due to better. Would definitely take hime again, only real complaint is he only teaches chem for science major at the organic level. Multiple choice a well as open ended tests. due the reviews and you'll cruise.
Attendance is only necessary if you want to pass, he doesn't require it. Can be sarcastic but knows the subject well and is respected by students. Very helpful, whether it be in the tutoring center, staying after class, office hours, or quickly responding to emails. Taking him next semester for CHM-102.
Dr. Nugiel definitely knows his stuff when it comes to Organic Chemistry. He gets my respect for that. However his teaching style it wasn't the one suited for me. He sort of runs through the lectures really quick, but he offers extra help after and before class so I guess its balanced. Just be prepared to do work. Oh and lab grade is worth a test.
This class was a little too hard and fast but that's because its Orgo. Chem. Dr. Nugiel is a pretty sarcastic professor and tends to expect you to know things before lecture time. Get ready to read and watch videos to understand the concepts more. His exams are a mixture of multiple choice/open ended. Must attend class or you'll fall behind.
By far my absolute most favorite professor at CCC. He make class time fun and he is extremely knowledgeable in his field. It was nice to have a CCC instructor challenge me so much. I feel as though most county college professors just do what is necessary to get by, but Dr. Nugiel makes you work for it. 10/10 would take again and again
Chem isn't easy to learn, nor was it my strongest subject... But Dr. Nugiel is a professor who truly wants his students to succeed. He gives you everything you need to do well, great lectures, you don't need a textbook , and he offers extra help in the library and in his office. I highly recommend this professor. Definitely going to miss having him
Very tough grader, doesn't curve tests or give extra credit. Expects students to have the knowledge of organic chemists
No doubt an expert in org chem. Read materials be4 class, pay attention, take notes of key points (he goes really fast). He's the type of teacher that gives u the big picture, not details. Test on concepts, not fomulas. Very helpful. If you truly love chem and would like to open your eyes about org chem, u'll deeply appreciate him. Like I did.
Dr. Nugiel is a solid professor. Although attendance was not required, it's obvious he values class participation. Pay attention to assignment instructions and get them in on time. For only a 1 credit class, there was a lot of work.
I strongly recommend taking his class. Yes it's 4 exams, plus departmental BUT he does prepare u every which way possible to be able to do well. He's very quick to grade exams and lab reports. I never bought a book and I'm glad I didn't. If I needed Chem 102 I would take him but I don't. STRONLY RECOMMEND!!!
He's tough but fair. Strongly encourages you to seek him out for extra help if needed. Answers emails in a very prompt manner. Contagiously enthusiastic about chemistry.
Dr. Nugiel was awesome! Chemistry is not fun and it is not easy either, but he really makes class enjoyable! He is always, always willing to help and encourages you to come to him for help! He wants his students to succeed. I am taking him next semester for chem 102. I recommend him to anyone!
If you're taking Chemistry I highly recommend taking his class. He first comes off as scary because he stresses to you that Chem is not easy. However, he does an exam review to answer any questions. He explains thing in a way easy to understand. He makes himself available outside of class and is willing to teach you if you're willing to learn.
Was willing to work with you outside of class to help you with whatever you may needed. Grades fairly, show all work on exams to increase points for your grade. Really loves when students excel his class. Make sure you read the lecture before coming to class. NO extra credit in this class.
Wants you to succeed in his class. Encourages you to reach out to him if you need additional assistance. No need to buy the text book. Do need the lab manual.
He is a very helpful teacher, will go above and beyond to meet you outside of class if you need help. Don't buy the text book he will supply you with all the information you need. The homework isn't mandatory but you're only hurting yourself if you ignore it.
It a tough class, but he's a fair teacher. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the sciences.
Dr. Nugiel is by far my favorite professor! He truly cares about his students passing and will help you as long as you are putting in the work and showing him you are trying! He is great and I was lucky enough to have him for chem 1 and 2. I recommend him for sure.
The material is difficult, Dr. Nugiel really makes it very easy to understand. If you are able to, take him for both sections of orgo, I did and it was my favorite classes at CCC. Make sure to read the chapters in book before lecture, and always attend class. The homework problem sets really helped me prepare for the exams.
Best professor at CCC. Lectures are very interesting. Always available to meet outside class to answer questions.
Best professor I've had in college. I felt very intimidated before entering this class because everyone says chemistry is difficult, but he made each lecture interesting and easy to understand. The problem sets definitely help prepare for the exams. Ended the class with an A!
Hes very passionate about what hes teaching. He makes it easy to understand. Just make sure you come to class prepared for the lectures and labs having read them already. Do the homework problem sets. Althought he doesnt check them they are very helpful
I loved Dr. Nugiel for Chem 101. He is brilliant and passionate about chemistry. He knows that chem is hard, and makes himself accessible outside of class. He always stressed when I went to him for extra help that he was happy to help even when I didnt understand material right away. His tests are challenging but you walk away having learned alot
Nugiel has been, by far, my favorite Professor at CCC. Prior to his classes I never took a chemistry class in my life but I took him for CHM-101 and CHM-102 and he was able to present the information to us in a way I could understand. If you ever had any questions about the material he was super enthusiastic to go over it. Just a great professor!
I had a terrible experience with Dr. Nugiel. He came off as rude and his lectures and labs were VERY confusing. He offered after class help, which I DID attend, but in all honesty, it only made me feel like a bother. I tried SO HARD, never missed class, and did all my labs. He made me feel so dumb. I used to get straight A's in chem. Never again.
I took chem for health care professionals not chem majors and the class was NOT easy. Prof nugiel was a very clear lecturer and taught you exactly what you needed to know for exams. He had all of the powerpoint accessible way before needing them and were great tools. clear and always helpful. material is not easy, but he does a good job clarifying
Dr. Nugiel is a very good chem teacher! He's super caring and will literally do anything and everything for his students to pass. Only downfall is he's a tough grader especially on lab reports. Otherwise, he's your best option in passing chemistry.
Dr. Nugiel *wants* every student to pass and does his best to make that happen. The course material itself is tough, but he does a great job of laying out his expectations and reviews the material repeatedly until students get it. He makes himself available outside of class hours for additional instruction if needed.
I took this professor last semester and failed his course. Took chem 101 this semester with another professor and got an A. You can obviously see what the issue is here. He is very rude and gives smart remarks when it comes to actual questions about the material he lectures on. If you struggle with chemistry, this professor is not for you.
He is very clear on all of his assignments and grading. This is a very hard course though so be prepared to study. He also makes himself available outside of class and responds promptly to email if you need extra help. You can tell he loves what he does and genuinely cares about each of his students. Probably the best professor I've had in college.
Dr. Nugiel is a great professor who is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the subjects he teaches. He does give smart remarks at times, which didnt really bother me. In the end he is an awesome Professor and wants to see everyone pass
Organic Chem 101. Heavy workload, long powerpoint lectures. Hw sets are taken from the textbook. Lab reports are graded based on answers. Material is explained well and is enough to study from. Exams are difficult. Final grade not curved, no xtra credit opportunities. I would not take him again, there are other great and easier chem profs at ccc
Professor Nugiel is one of the best professors I have had. He will help you with any problems you got. He makes himself available to make sure you understand the course. He is funny, and very helpful. Dont hesitate to ask any questions. If you do you will regret it, especially on the exams. Good luck to anyone that has him and it is worth it.
Took Doc Nugiel for chem 101/102. He is awesome. Dude is a walking encyclopedia of chemistry. He encourages students to ask for help, and wants to see everyone pass. You will not find a better chem professor
Hard to learn from him, isn't engaging and doesn't give you worksheets or anything to practice off of. He doesn't give you anything to improve your grade. NO EXTRA CREDIT! So, if you want an A you need to get A's on every test. Don't need textbook. Suggest getting a tutor if you have time to meet with one. This class messed up my 4.0.
He is a very good professor, always ready to help, very respectful, and his lectures are good as well just make sure you don't skip class so you don't missed anything. HIS EXAMS CAN BE HARD but if you study well you will be fine. I totally recommend him.
Had Dr.N for Orgo 1 and 2, I couldn't recommend him more for either of those courses. If you're worried about the difficulty of the course, he is a perfect professor for you. He gives more of his time than any other professor I've had to help students understand any of the material and beyond. Get ready for fun stories and plenty of syntheses.
He wasnt helpful at all. Test were extremely difficult. He doesnt give any extra credit so if chem is one of your weak subject i suggest dont take him.
He is a very nice and considerate professor, will talk with you outside of class. Tests are VERY hard. Practice problems and test reviews much easier, which is the biggest problem with this course.
He cares about his students so much! He gives you a lot of opportunity to ask for help. If you cant go to his office hours he will set a time to talk to you. Very helpful. Loves chemistry.
great professor! the exams are easy as long as you study and listen to his lectures. walks you through study guides that are helpful for exams, tells you what you need to study for exams, and replies very quickly on canvas would take it again if needed! wish I had him in 101
I'd recommend professor Nugiel 100%. His lectures are very straightforward and so are the test reviews before each exam. Professor Nugiel tells you everything you need to know for every exam, he is also available anytime you need him for help outside of class. He never had a "NO" for me and was always very helpful. Good luck and go for that A !!!!
If you are willing to put in the hard work required to excel, then this is the class to be in. Professor Nugiel has tons of resources like recorded lesson, office hours, zoom sessions and exam reviews to help you succeed. You get partial credit if you can give good reason for the answer you chose even if you fail the question. You've got this!
He is a pretty great professor, I didn't turn in several lab reports on time and he let me turn them all in at the end of the semester for full credit. Some concepts were hard for me to understand but he is always available outside of office hours for a zoom call to answer your questions. Put in the work for your grade and you will be rewarded :)
Dr. Nugiel is a fantastic professor. We had a lecture day and a lab day and labs were always fun and exciting. Always wanted to help in anyway. Always told the class what days he is available in office and of not in office he would answer any questions 24/7 through email. Would definitely take his class again.
Prof Nugiel is knowledgeable, he challenged students to help improve our problem solving skills. He always made himself available to us at all times. Schedule 1 on 1 to better prep for the difficult tests. His witty remarks and funny sense of humor, made the class bearable. You definitely have to warm up to him, but in the end you'll love him!!
Had professor Nugiel for Organic Chem I in the summer. The course is very challenging but he teaches the lessons very well and is always willing to help students. Very caring and understanding professor and is very passionate about his students succeeding in this course.
Dr.Nugiel is a great professor and loves chemistry. He is always available when you need help outside of class and stresses to always do your practice problems. His exams are hard but the reviews he gives are easier which I thought didn't really make sense. These courses are challenging, but if you have the opportunity to take him you should.
he cares about his students passing his class and is super accessible. be sure to participate as much as you can, he'll never make you feel dumb. And go to his office hours, zoom meetings or whatever it deff helps. hes very accomidating if you dont feel ready for a test bc no extra credit! and he'll let you make up quizzes just ask nicely! love him!
Dr. Nugiel is known for his fairness and clarity as a professor. He offers both in-person and online tutoring, accommodating students with work commitments through flexible Zoom sessions. Although his exams are challenging, thorough studying, leveraging online resources, and attending his tutoring sessions success in this course is attainable.
Very fair grader. Gives partial credit. Although exam reviews are easier than actual exams; they give a decent idea on what to expect on types of exam questions. Attend all lectures, ask questions and take good notes. It should get you at least a B.
Very fair grader. Grade based on scores received on 5 exams including acs final (curved). Exam reviews might be easier than actual exams but give decent idea on what actual exam questions might be. Gives partial credit based on what info put on exam question paper (ie supporting info).
The best experience I've had in a chemistry class. Dr. Nugiel will always make time to help with any questions. He is passionate about chemistry and made learning a difficult subject easy and fun. Online lectures make it easy to review information and he clearly states what topics are important for exams. Study, study, study and you will do well!!
He is by far the best professor I have ever had, I have taken chemistry 3 times (with different horrible professors) he is the best. He is accessible outside of class by appointment if you can't attend office hours and answers emails quickly. His study guides for each exam is the exam so you know exactly what to study. He is also hilarious.
He is awesome and an excellent professor on his work, always available to help students
Very knowledgeable and patient, had great test reviews he would go over with the class and would break down everything until you could understand it, he was also always available during his office hours if anyone needed extra help or questions. I would highly recommend having him as a professor.
This professor really cares about his students and makes himself incredibly available to people who need extra help in the course. His classes can be funny and his lectures are very organized and pretty digestible considering its chemistry. I highly recommend this professor he made an extremely difficult subject understandable and even interesting
