The best damn teacher I've ever had. Brilliant, funny, pretty easy
Medium 'easiness' (challenging, but not ridiculous). Fair; four tests, 25% each
He seems like a pretty fair man.
He has a funny sense of humor. I reall like his class, not too tough.

In four years at SHU, he's the best teacher I've had.
great teacher, interesting and witty. insightful outlook on ethics too.
Like no other. Intelligent and funny
intresting & smart wants u 2 understand really study your notes u will do fine
You have to love him like a chunk of meat! Enjoy! (in reference to his metaphysics class.)
Extremely fair. Always available for help. Wants you to understand material. No curves, though.
Ingenious, witty, fair, and got to love the accent. His existence is valid proof for God's existence.
this teacher rates himself well everyday hes acutally hard run away
It does sound like O'connor is rating himself. He does try to let the material become easy to understand, but it does not work. I've heard Medina is much better.
The material can be rather intimidating, but he tries to help out as much as possible. Not too hard at all. Loves to teach Philosophy.
takes logic a little too serious, if he says do questions for homework, and you come in and wrote them down, he syas, just said do them, not write them down yea hes like that, but bring a cheat sheet to every quiz, i had mine in my crotch, very nice tho
This guy is funny. Everything he says ends up in a rhetorical question like isn't it? He grades fairly. Not bad in general and there were some real hotties in my class like this blonde chick who must have been Swedish or something cuz she had an acc
I think he is an intelligent man but hard to understand. I did not like this class at all. He was a very hard grader and unclear in what he was saying. He does what you to understand the work and do good in the class but he was still unlcear in explaining
Enjoyed this class and I learned a lot. O'Connor is a good professor.
Yeah ok, this guy easy..he is real hard and not good at all. Smart guy, but thinks everyone can learn something right away...no joke this guy has hard tests and isn't that great
If you are at all interested in philosophy take him. He's the best teacher in the department. No matter what youre interested in take him for logic - he's very easy there.
he is an awesome teacher...take him if you can
Extrememly tough and this guy doesnt care about anyone, he'd fail his own son
He breaks the information down very well. I would take him again. Though he makes the test seem easy by saying "just know everything". But take him!
a well cared for house plant should be able to pass dr. o'connors basic logic course.
Great teacher, very funny and never lacking something witty to say.
Highly recommended. He's very understanding when you have legitimate absences. Reviews and re-reviews until everyone has it. Some of the material may be a little bit more difficult for some people but it's a great class to take for critical thinking. He's beyond being a fair grader - very objective. A+ Oh and he posted grades 5 hr after class.
Extremely knowledgeable, but can get a little carried away with his odd examples and "background info" every single day. Good for developing thinking skills, but hard to take notes from and study for.
The class was easy because of this guy. He explains all the material in great detail, and he does review and make sure everyone gets it. He is very fair and a good professor. Highly recomended
soo upset, got a bad grade...he explains very slow. Makes corny jokes. Maybe if I put more effort I wouldve gotten it but other than that he's a good prof.
Takes him about 30-45 minutes to introduce a topic and keeps you after class is over for about 5-10 minutes and never really teaches anything. Rambles on for hours about the same thing never saying anything useful.
Had him for several classes - great teacher.
Very circuitous in his lecturing. Often never gets to readings until a week or two after assigned. Mildly condescending to anyone not deeply entrenched in philosophy. A bit of dry humor but still lectures often drag, many times past allotted meeting time. Not exactly a lenient grader either. Great to talk with, but not so great as a professor.
great prof and great guy. though very strict with his grading plan, he gives very thorough and clear lectures and i never leave the class with questions. you will have to do some work in this class, but it is highly recommended.
I swear he sits in his office and prepares his routine for the day like a stand up comedian...his sarcasm alone is ether. Its nearly impossible to fail.
Really nice guy, makes class easy going by cracking jokes and he almost always lets you go early. However, I had a very difficult time with the material (LOGIC) & felt like I basically had to teach myself alot of the concepts. He tends to go fast & if a few students get it, he assumes you all do. Take someone else if you can.
Hes a super great guy. His teaching gets a little confusing, but its not too bad. Tests are ok, kind of tough. Make sure to do the homework, its the only way to know what you're doing.
I took Prof O'Connor for Logic. The class was extremely easy. I did minimal studying for the exams and got an A in the class. He gives 4 quizzes for 5 pts each, only two count, but they're for extra credit. So you can get up to 10 pts extra credit. The quiz questions are similar to the exams so you know what to expect.
Really good and extremely helpful teacher, for such an extremely hard course, it is pretty difficult to understand and it takes time to comprehend.
He was a great prof. Very helpful, very clear. Smart guy, and easy grader. I really recommend him. Doesn't get much better.
Logic ranks real high on the "I will never use this is real life" scale so automatically its pointless. however prof. oconnor is pretty legit. he explains stuff until even the dumbest kid understands. gives assignments that will prepare you fully for the tests. do the quick homework when he assigns it and you will do really well.
I felt that this was one of the smartest professors I've ever had. He is very clear and obviously knows the material extremely well and he's also very chill. You can learn a lot if you put the effort in. Take his class!
He's a great professor. You have to do the readings that he assigns to understand what he is talking about. He will explain everything for you to understand if you ask. You have to speak up, or else he won't. Tests and quizzes are hard, so you need to study. Take lots of notes, anything he says. He is very understanding.
Amazing professor. Tells you exactly what he expects and is there to help you along the way. Fair but difficult grader. You need to hit the target right on, but again, he helps you along the way.
This man is a godsend. I took his class to erase my F grade that I got from debello, and so far, i'm on the track to be able to replace that with a B :)
Very good teacher. Starts every class with a recap of the last, so you're never lost.
Logic can be tricky if it's not explained right, but Dr. O'Connor does an awesome job. He's really smart, a great professor, and a fair grader. I really enjoyed this class. As long as you go to class, keep up with the reading, and study for the tests, you should have no problem. And he is always willing to help if you do!
Had him for intro to philosophy. Can't ask for a better teacher very nice and willing to go out of his way to help you.
SO GREAT! I was scared to take an ethics class because the subject had always been confusing to me, he makes everything clear & you'll pass if you take notes ! I would take him before anyone else !
although the material is somewhat difficult and you definitely have to have common sense to take this class, he is like an adorable irish santa and hes great
You'd be a fool to take logic with anyone else. Prof. O'Connor is so knowledgeable and makes material that I thought would be tough to be very easy. He is super clear and makes the material really easy to understand and makes doing well on the quizzes and exams very easy as well. Just come to class because his lectures teach you everything.
he is a spectacular man always there if you need him, extremely respectful I would love to take him again he is so wise!
I took this class at 9:30 but it is actually bearable. Professor O'Connor makes Logic easy and fun, the subject material itself is hard and boring. Tests are tough but he gives points were ever he can.
If you take this course, which is recommended, take it with him!!! Gives funny examples to get you to remember things. 3 quizzes and 3 exams that's all.
Prof. O'Connor is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. He's very smart but wont make you feel like an idiot if you ask simple questions. He literally never took attendance (but its in your best interest to go to class), he has a wonderful sense of humor and is very fair when it comes to grading.
Good professor, my only issue (keep in mind I am a Philosophy major) was that OCis INCREDIBLY DRY, even for me. He does from time to time, utilize humor. However, as attendance is not mandatory and the subject material was overtly boring, this class is a nightmare for students that don't read closely.
Amazing professor, would definitely take again. His examples are clear and helpful in understanding complicated material. Take VERY DETAILED notes to help on your exams and do his study guides! He also offers extra credit if you ask
Took class as an elective. Should've been an easy A but he grades by a point system out of 200. 3 exams&3 quizzes. Let's say you get one 3-pt question wrong on each then you just lost 18 points/9% off your grade. BTW you need 95% to get an A. Translation: unless you expect to be perfect, don't chance it. Don't let charming Irish Santa fool you.
Do yourself a favor and sign up for Prof O'Connor's class if you're taking ethics! He makes the material very clear, and uses great analogies that really help you understand the material. His grading is very clear and he provides study guides before each quiz and exam. He is funny and makes the class enjoyable! I definitely recommend his class!
Really nice person, but this course is WAY too hard. He's a super tough grader, and don't plan to pass unless you go to EVERY SINGLE CLASS + study 5 hours a week for it. The material is tough if you don't have a PhD in it, and it seems like he expects you to. Even if you get 2/3 of a ? right, don't expect him to give you credit.
OConnor is a really nice guy in person, but hell probably ruin your gpa and not care.
He's a nice guy but is difficult. He wants you to put exactly what he said, in his words, on the test/quizzes. I think he took attendance once and that was for the financial aid, but he writes all his notes on the board so you have to go to class. He is a super tough grader and only gives letter grades so you don't know your standing in the class.
Professor O'Connor is great! I struggled a lot with my first quiz, but since taking good notes on class lectures and discussing my notes with him during office hours I've been satisfied with my grades. Everything he talks about in class is crucial to understand, and if you understand that you're set! I would recommend :)
Was an amazing professor however does check attendance but must attend in order to do well.
Amazing professor! If I could take him again, I would. Course was easy so long as you paid attention and took notes, and he always provided clarification for every question you asked him. Quizzes can be tough, but as long as you study (even just a bit) you'd do fine. Great class, I highly recommend taking him for Logic!
Professor O'Connor was a nice man and was always helpful if you asked questions in class or emailed him. However, I found the lectures to be very boring. He is a tough grader, make sure you take detailed notes and try to truly understand the examples he gives!
Prof. O'Connor is a very kind professor. Lectures are long but easy to understand. You'll do fine on exams if you take good notes each class. Tough grader when it comes to essays because he can tell immediately if you don't know what you're talking about. Overall, not a bad class and would take him again.
O'Connor was such an amazing professor. The class was very lecture-based, which could be a little boring, but you will be fine as long as you listen and take a few notes. Your grade is made up of two short quizzes, 2 short papers, and your midterm and final. He offers two extra credit assignments and is super understanding of any circumstances.
Great course! Pay attention in class, practice with the class/book examples and you'll be perfectly fine. No trick questions. He tells you whats on every quiz and test. Offers course EC. Kind and calm prof. Not hard to get an A. Take his course!
Write down and take notes of everything he literally says. he gives study guides which are helpful just make sure to explain the answers in detail. By putting his notes into your answer will def get you full points. Its not woth searching anything up, midterm and final are weighted heavily. everything is on paper such as quizzes, final and midterm.
Record his lectures because what he says will be on tests, and his handwriting can be hard to read if you miss class; good luck because it'll be precisely what you miss on the test. Only a few people got 100% on papers and quizzes and other things because you have to write exactly what he's looking for, so do the extra credit he gives as a cushion.
Professor O'Conner is great, definitely take him. Just pay attention and you are ok. He gives extra credit opportunities.
Honestly an understanding and great professor. If you actively learn and take notes of everything he says, you'll find the coursework to make perfect sense. He grades fairly too. I've taken multiple of his classes, and he gives out multiple extra credit opportunities which always help.
He was an awful professor. He gave me a 0/10 on a paper that I wrote the exact words he said in lecture on. I met with him and he said that he would give me a 5/10 but "it doesn't deserve it". He seems like a nice guy but if you don't put exactly what he is looking for youre going to fail.
Professor O'Connor is a good professor. But he often looks for very specific things on his tests/quizzes that he isn't always clear on in the instructions. Consequently, he is somewhat unyielding when it comes to recognizing fault with the instructions versus fault with the student. Overall he is very funny in class, with a very wry sense of humor.
His voice is fairly quiet, so he may be a little hard to understand at first. He's super nice though, and very accommodating if you ask for help. I found his lectures to be fairly easy to understand, but if you're confused, definitely ask questions, cause he'll be sure to explain it until you actuallly get it.
Went to ask him for help because I didn't think it would be such a time consuming elective & he compared his class to math & biology in the sense his class should be as difficult because you're supposed to write exactly what he wants. 4 exams only (25 questions each), you get 1 wrong & your grade significantly drops. Don't take if you don't have to
Professor O'Connor is such an amazing professor! If you pay attention, don't miss any classes, and read you'll do fine. He is such a caring man and always tries to engage his students in the best way possible. Extra credit is also given!
I took this class as my first philosophy class in college, and thought he was great. Easy grader, you know what you need to do to get a A, and he's giving opportunities to get this with ease.
Prof. O'Connor is a very humorous professor and has a wry sense of humor. His lectures are essential in passing the class, yet can be incredibly dry. Do not allow yourself to day dream in his class or you'll miss important info. He is a tough grader, so make sure you know the entire topic going into a project.
Do not take this professor. By far the worst professor on any and all college campuses. Final grade is determined by 8 grades throughout the semester so if you mess up even slightly your grade is tanked. Also, he provides little to no help outside of the classroom and should retire already.
This dude is so dry with his lectures, and his handwriting is illegible. He's very difficult to follow, and his lectures are the only thing you have to work off of, and they're almost impossible to make sense of. He has very few tests that you need to study very heavily for. He makes up his own terms and abbreviates everything. Avoid if possible
Truly a great professor! He is extremely knowledgeable in his discipline and many others. This course is graded on 4 quarterly exams, which are writing heavy. He provides a study guide for each, but you need to truly understand the topic and context to do well. Show up to class and take notes if you want to do well. Extra credit is offered!
