Dave was one of the best teachers I have ever had. I learned a tremendous amount in his class. He was somewhat of a tough teacher, but he taught the subject well. If you actually want to learn something about economics, take him.

Dave's got high expectations, but I can't see calling him "hard," since he lays out everything you have to do in order to receive an A. I think he gets a little frustrated sometimes because he doesn't think we work as hard as he did, but he cares a lot and that's what counts.

This professor gives lots of ex credit on test. He also tells alot of storys. vary funny professor take him of eco.

Very nice guy with large curve on tests. He'll spend 20 minutes of the class telling jokes. Also he wrote the text so it is much cheaper. Definately take this class with him.

Very good teacher. Very helpful and funny. Will try his best to help you understand a hard course.

If you skip class or are lazy, look elsewhere. You must take good notes and review before the tests to pass. He is available in his office a lot and is helpful if you get confused. He ONLY tests what he lectures on and stresses important topics. Each test is worth more than 100 points, and points earned over 100 are effectively a bonus.

He is a great teacher.Do not miss class or you will be lost.His office door is always open and he is willing to help in any way that he can. I will choose him before taking any other Economics teacher..Be prepared for the jokes and war stories!!!

This is a tough class, (with tough tests) but if you do your work, study, come to class and pay attention, you will have no problems. If you expect someone to GIVE you a grade, take another class! He is very clear about his expectations and wants you to "get it". He's cheesy and tells a lot of jokes and stories, but he keeps class interesting!

This is not an easy class, but if you take good notes and study, you will make an A. I took him for Micro AND Macro and made A's in both. He is really smart and knows what he's teaching inside and out. If you paid attention and quit whining about being "offended" you will learn so much from Dave. I'll actually miss not having him as a teacher!

I had him for both Micro and Macro. I think he is a very good teacher, propably the best. All of those who are saying all these bad things about him, are not true. he is a very har teacher, but the advantage is that you can flunk all the test and still get an A in the course with the final. Also, if you go to his office he will explain until you understand.

I laugh at all the comments for Dave who complain and whine. Yes, he is a very difficult teacher. But If you want to REALLY LEARN the material this is the guy you should take. You must study hard to get a decent grade. . You can't do well in this class if you don't understand the material. He's somewhat quirky, but he keeps you focused this way.

Tough class, must study. I never missed a day of class because everyday is something new. There are 2 or 3 tests and then a final and most of the class fails the first test. Very helpful outside of class but tough teacher.

AVOID! This comes from an A student: This class is really hard! he knows his stuff(& will read this review) but makes the material UNNECESSARILIY DIFFICULT! not worth the time. fyi- no textbook; just course packet. TAKE LOTS OF GOOD NOTES! 3 really hard tests! no other grades! not worth it! -coming from an A student who struggled to get a B+.AVOID!

Entertaining Class

Economics was a requirement in high school, so we all should have a basic understanding of it. Dave is a really entertaining teacher. Sure his tests are hard, but if you study and do the second draft notes(even though he does not collect them) you will do fine. I recommend him if you want to take this class with an interesting and challenging teach

He is an entertaining teacher who has kept me focused and interested. If anyone thinks he's too "vulgar" then you need to get out of college because that's the real world for ya! By telling his stories he makes you not so tense, and creates less stress in the learning environment...and no he's not gay.

These are my thoughts after attending 1 class: Keeps you awake/entertained, lecture notes are comprehensible/concise, and the final exam score can replace all grades. Warnings: Do not take if easily offended by cursing, and you may be randomly picked on in class.

OMG!!! You guys are crazy..the only people who are saying he is not helpful and this class is hard is crazy! I went to his office at least 3x a week and he was extrmely helpful. Those who did not pass were probably just lazy meaning they didnt study or didnt ask for help. O'Gorman is a good teacher but challenging and hilarious to me. Love it!

This Prof. is goofy, but the guy really loves the subject and all he really wants is for you to really understand it as well. Test are very hard but if you do the work you shouldn't have a problem. Dave will teach you how a really college student should act.

ogorman is a very good professor. i always looked forward to class, because his stories always kept me entertained. material is hard so be prepared to put in the time and effort. be sure to take his political spiels with a grain of salt

this teacher is so funny and very helpful, but if you aren't willing to listen or study the material do not take. i recommend the half semester course the short time span helped me to remember the material. awesome teacher.

O'Goreman is great! Its a Economics class, people. If you dont understand it outside of this class, of course you wont have any understanding in it! He gives all the information necessary to solve problems. He also has a very simple STEP process, apply it to every problem. Go to class, write every single thing down, do the homework and its a win!

The guy is straight-forward. If you miss a class you are behind...he waits for no one. His grade structure allows redemption. I did mediocre in the class to begin with got my**** together and got an A on the final. His final is cumulative..according to him you get an A on the final you get an A in the class regardless of your previous grades.

He is defiantly a tough professor by any standard, but it's well worth the extra effort to take his class. He has a great understanding of the material he teaches, and he always makes it interesting.

He gets the job done. I've had several Profs. He gets U through the set material as simple as possible. Go to his office 1on1. If U have a brain that does well with graphs, then this is 4 U. Dave is a fantastic teach. He has an unusual way of teaching, but it works. Instead of just reading from the book and having your brain drip out your ear, he makes things interesting. He sometimes go off topic and is always jumping (sometimes literarily) around the room but overall he teaches you what you need to know. Plus zombies are just awesome

Awesome professor and wish I could take him again. He's a very eccentric and interesting guy. He will go off-topic a lot. He will notice if you are not attending, and he goes over important things every day so it is in your interest to. Tests are hard but never on something he didn't cover. Do the take-home test and ask any questions you have.

I'm taking him now and I think he is great speaker/teacher but a lot of people dont get his personality. His tests on the other hand do not reflect his lectures and are hard. I am failing and awaiting to take the accumulative final...

Don't take the class if you are not confident with your ability to succeed. Otherwise, take the course if your really interested in learning Macroeconomics. Some people fold under pressure, and some people thrive from it. All you have to do is ask yourself which kind of person are you. Do you fold, or do you thrive? The class is no cake-walk.

He started using a powerpoint lecture system, which works much better than a long-winded, scribbling note session in a class. He reviews what we have questions about in class, and gives group problems to work through. Apparently he has become a somewhat better teacher since these last posts. The tests are hard though, so study!!!

Honestly this course is not half as hard as everyone is making it out to be. Yes.. if you don't go to class, don't read the chapters, and don't THINK you will do bad. If you can do those things then you will have no problem. Yes he's annoying and his jokes may not amuse you, but if you put that aside the man WILL teach you microeconomics.

Loved this class and looked forward to going. His tests come from his power points and are extremely similar to the take home exams he provides you with before each in-class test. Unique teaching style..Expects you to be prepared for class to work in groups and ask questions after learning material at home. Very approachable & great sense of humor!

Favorite teacher.tries to get students to learn the basics outside of class, he clarifies everything in class. He goes beyond the subject and into the mindset of an economist. Under his humor lies valuable life lessons we were never taught. Spend 2 hours a week studying,no projects, no homework. Says rate my professor is destroying our education

Definitely one of the more colorful professors at Santa Fe. Worth it just to take his class for the theatrics. This class is pitifully easy if you've developed event moderately decent study habits throughout college. If you get an A on the final you get an A for the class =).

O'Gorman is quite the character. Class is VERY demanding and there is no way to pass if you dont study STUDY STUDY. But he is an extremely good teacher and will help you as much as possible. Didnt need a text book for micro. Looked forward to his class because he's so colorful. I'd recommend him if you really want to learn.

Prof. O'Gorman's class is only hard when you do not study hard and take initiative. I failed 2 out of 3 exams, but got an A on the final so I got an A in the test (Second Chance Option.) He is very helpful in offices hours and elaborates deeply step-by-step in class. I do recommend to hard woeking, determined students who want to earn to learn.

O'Gorman is a great professor. He is challenging and actually makes you do work and study outside of class, which is probably why most kids hate him. The class is def challenging but he is a good teacher, I failed 2 of the 3 tests but got a C on the final so I got a C in the class. He challenges you to learn economics. Highly recommended.

David is great! For those who have struggled with economics or any math this is the best professor for you. He is enthusiastic and funny allowing for a good understanding. Very helpful if you need extra explanations. DO NOT NEED A BOOK! He puts notes online-DO copy, and practice his examples. Passed the class, so just have faith!

Professor O'Gorman is awesome. This was the class that I most looked forward to each week. He is extremely helpful, you just have to do the work. If you do all the work he suggests, there is no reason not to get an A. He is more than willing to help during office hours if you need help. I would take him again, in fact, I will for Microeconomics.

Professor O'Gorman is awesome. Quite frankly, the people who give bad reviews of this guy are not willing to do any work. If you go over and study the material he provides and go to class, then it will be hard to not pass this class. If you ever have any problems, it's as easy as going to his office hours or asking in class. Definitely taking again

This guy deserves a much higher rating. I don't know how anyone can say this class is hard when everything you need to know for each test is in three somewhat short powerpoints. You can also do an at home practice exam and if its higher than your exam score, he averages the two.

Long as you come to class & view the PowerPoint before class , you should pass the class with a B. Economics is a very time consuming subject, but Mr. O'gorman power points are great and he has several helpful questions on his website, and he teaches economics easy with minimal math. He gives you detailed feedback on every test and excercise.

Mr. Gorman was a challenging professor. You have to work hard in this class and put in a lot effort. But if you are willing to work hard and come to class, then you should do fine. He has a weird sense of humor that can come off as rude sometimes, but if you come to office hours, he is very helpful. Attendance is mandatory.

People who don't like his method of teaching do not put in enough effort. Just review your lecture the day before class, do the in-class exercises and take home tests and you will be FINE! This class is not hard at all, you just have to pay attention and come to class. He gives you all the tools you need to succeed and makes class interesting!

This is the second class I've taken with him and he's great. It's a tough class and you have to work for it but if you ask him questions he will help as long as you don't wait until the last minute.

Dave is the man. He is really intelligent and knows a lot about economics. He is a little quirky and different in the way he teaches, but he really tries to make sure you understand the concepts. He gives a lot of practice problems and take home test to help you get ready for his in class tests. Do what is expected of you and you'll do well.

Hands down the best professor I've taken despite being terrible in the subject. He gives you plenty of practice and makes it easy to succeed as long as you follow his instructions. His charismatic personality makes the subject seem a lot better than it is, and it truly shows that he cares about his students. Santa Fe needs more professors like him!

Good teacher, try not taking hybrid. Goes over homework in class, everything on homework is on quizes in class. Easy.

I took a hybrid class (Micro), and even if it was a lot of work, it was fairly easy to get an A. Every week: powerpoint presentation to study and take notes on, then an exercice at home. Same exercice in class, used anonymously to explain that day's lesson. Really clear, easy to understand. Maybe avoid hybrid course, since it's a lot to do at home.

Dave is a good professor. Even though I dont agree with some of his teaching methods, I did learn a lot about Microeconomics in his class. He has a terrible sense of humor but, after a while you get used to it. If you attend to all the lectures you should be more than fine, and you get a chance to make your grade in the final the grade you get .

Pay no attention to the negative reviews you see here, they're most likely from people who were too lazy to make the effort to pass this class, or people who had a hard time and didn't go to his office hours. He really wants to help everyone pass and will work hard to make sure you do. I found the subject kind of fun, wasn't super difficult.

He's a very insightful professor and I learned a lot in his class. It's pretty easy as long as you keep up.

O'gormon is great. Every class is a business trip with him. He's comes in ready to teach, and can answer virtually any question you might have. The guy knows economics inside and out. His teaching style is aggressive, but I think it's a great way to learn. He's going to fully engage with you, and if you're wrong he'll let you know exactly why.

You must work for your grade in this class. If you want to memorize stuff good luck passing because this micro class needs to be fully understood in order to pass. Learned so much in this class and the prof is so funny! If you're willing to work for a grade take Dave! Don't miss class, seriously.

Professor O'Gorman is a great guy, and an excellent teacher. I easily got an A in this class just from going to all the lectures. He even has a setup where if you get a bad test grade you can basically just ignore it and put more weight on your other exams. All the whiners on here probably just skipped class or weren't paying attention lol.

Professor O'Gorman is really cool. He might be tough from time to time but if you study the powerpoints you will be just fine. REMEMBER ALSO TO TRY TO GET ALL THE IN-CLASS EXERCISES CORRECTLY. Good luck!
