Wonderful teacher! He was so well versed in everything, providing a variety of ways to learn the material through lecture as well as helpful videos. On tests his grading, will take a variety of information as long as you answer the question. I learned a lot in his class and just enjoyed how it wasn't high maintenance, but provided a lot of info.
His exams are part multiple choice, short answer and short essay. Takes about 45 mins to complete. He gives extra credit. We did trivia test review and article discussions. He's awesome and an expert in ancient Mayan painting. One of the coolest teachers/professors I've had.
Wow great professor. Seems strict at first, but if you put in the work you'll do fine. Very engaging lectures and activities. Personable and enthusiastic, Mr. O rocks!
I had professor Ouellette for non western art history, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! He is a very smart person and structures his class in a very easy going manner. I loved that the final was optional! I do wish that we spent more time on Japanese and Chinese art, but oh well.
Awesome teacher. He's very laid back and casual, but really cares about the class and the subject. He also seems to get students have lives and don't care about art and just want to get credit. That being said, not listening is a waste of time and money because he knows his stuff and you can learn so much from him. Long story short, take class!
Prof. O is one of the most educated teachers at C.O.D in his field of study. Very helpful, ask any question you feel necessary, show up and follow assignment guidelines and you should have no problem getting an A. All around good guy, would deff take class again.
His lectures are great, interesting without being pretentious. You know exactly what is expected of you. You get to take class trips to the art institute and keeps you updated about art events happening in Chicago. Easy A if you work hard and pay attention. I would have gotten that A if I didn't have such a huge work in my other classes.
With Professor O. it was easy to listen and understand him because he made his intentions very clear. All you need to do is show up to class prepared (especially for article discussions!) and listen to his lectures. He makes them very interesting and usually relates them back to a common interest.
Show up and youll do great. 3 tests and 3 easy article reviews. Prof O only talks about things he puts on the tests, AND you have a review day before the test. Really good class, would take another by him!
Ouellette is very experienced in his field and loves to share his passion for the material with his students. He demands respect and loves to talk things outtoss around ideas with his class. If you love the art world and talking about it (a lot), then this is the guy for you. Course papers almost always revolve around a relevant central theme.
Very laid back and cool teacher but if you do something he doesn't like he will call you out. Plenty of opportunities to excel in this course. Attendance matters because he gives random attendance quizzes " about 14"of 10 points and if you show up you get the 10 points.
Mr Ouellette is a great professor with a balance of humor and friendliness and successful teaching and lecturing. He makes lectures interesting with stories, videos, room for discussion, comments. Very easy class as long as you show up and participatetake in the info. show up for trivia review to ace the exams. take advantage of extra credit!
Professor Ouellette is an awesome professor. I came into the class knowing nothing about art, but I feel like I learned a lot and really enjoyed the class. He keeps the class fun and is pretty flexible with what we do in class. I would definitely recommend taking a class that he is teaching.
Good professor. He is really passionate about his work and is pretty easy-going. Is flexible with assignments and due dates. The only down-side is that a lot of the articles he assigns are long and unless you're a really big art history and art philosophy enthusiast, you're really not going to enjoy them. But overall, a pretty easy class to take.
One of the best professors I've ever had in the history of my college career. Ouellette is so passionate about his work, and you can see it in the way he teaches lecture. He's a really easygoing guy, and he wants you to pass the class and learn. He's not trying to strike anyone out. Don't be late though, he hates that immensely. Also uses big words
Prof O. is such a great instructor, he really takes the time to connect with his students and teaches them what they actually want to learn about. A (lengthy) article is dissected each week in a discussion and 1-1.5 page paper is due on it one week later. Helpful outside the classroom and truly wants to make a difference. Take him, won't regret it!
Mr. Ouellette is a great teacher! What you hear in his lectures shows up on the tests, so your participation is actually meaningful. He also has the whole class play a game of Trivia the day before an exam as way to study and to reward extra credit points. He is also very passionate about what he teaches and cares about his students.
Lots of reading, but external links that are provided are very relevant and interesting. Teacher offers extra credit, which is nice. Have taken several Art History classes, and this teacher was by far the best.
Pretty much none feedback given.
We not only learned the material we had to think and participate in discussions. Wonderful. Art history was multifaceted and involved psychology, sociology and cultural anthropology. We had gallery visits and on site visits to the Art Institute and the Field Museum. One comes to understand Stone and numerical cosmology. We discovered Mayan names
Professor Ouelette has definitely been one of the best professors I've ever had! He is so helpful and his assignments are very clear. He is always willing to help and just seems like he has a great outlook on life. He is a wonderful person, and always tries to include the whole class with whatever we are doing. If you have the choice, choose him!
This was a great class! I learned a lot from this class and really enjoyed it. He is a great professor. He responds very quickly to emails and clearly sets out his requirements. If you are taking an art class, take him!
I cannot emphasize how much I enjoyed taking this course (2212) online. If you're planning on taking this course online, I'd recommend seeing him in person sometime. He shows such immense passion for art & teaching that gets you motivated. If you have take any art courses, PLEASE check if they're offered with him. You WON'T be disappointed.
I have taken all of my art history courses with David Ouellette and he was always very clear in what he asks for and a fair grader. He replied to any of my questions very quickly. I needed some extra time during one of my semesters as I had a baby, and he was very understanding. He is very hands on for a web based course and is my favorite teacher.
This class reminded me why I love art history! Teacher is young, funny, and very knowledgable. Lectures were clear, focused, and interesting. Book not necessary if you pay attention and take good notes. Tests are challenging without studying. Lots of extra credit (teacher-guided tours of the AIC & trivia games before tests). Prof. O is fantastic!!
Professor O is an amazing teacher! Its very easy to pay attention to Prof. O's lectures because he keeps the topics interesting. He is also very helpful and will stay after class to answer any questions. If you show up, pay attention and take notes you should pass this class with flying colors.
Professor O is a brilliant instructor, lectures were not boring at all quite interesting which made the class feel like actual learning. He gives extra credit and all you need to do for this class is to study the vocabularyterminology from the powerpoints he gives you for Art 1100. Easy A, perfect professor!
He's a great teacher and he is very helpful, any time i emailed him he legit responded in a few hours which was great. Also hes very nice when we went on the field trip it was a good time. Just a all around great teacher and he gives alot of extra credit if you art taking art take David!
He is just a really awesome Prof.! He tries his best to help his students, clear understanding of course, easy to talk to! I would take another class with him
Great professor who loves his job. There is a lot of reading, but if you do most of it the class is very easy.
Definitely one of the best teachers I've ever taken! He really wants you to pass. He is really nice and funny. There is a lot reading, but it's manageable. He was really helpful in explaining the content and he always gave a review list. We had no tests just trivia games. He gave a great experience and made a very personal connection with students
I thought this course was pretty easy. There was a decent amount of work involved, some of which just felt like busy work. But he is an easy grader and didn't ask too much of you. I still know very little about art but no one really cares about that anyway.
This professor is awesome! I was required to take art history and was a little wary about it but he made it a super fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Expect homework, short essays, 1 research paper and teststrivia. You must participate in class and out of class to make your experience the best and get the best grades. He also loves cats and is funny
Easy A, he was a lenient grader and gave good feedback. He offered maximum credit for going on a field trip. Also he did not make you buy a textbook which was really nice.
Professor O. was great. I really enjoyed that class and felt like I learned a lot. Lot of work though but not difficult. Set side time for reading and article reviews. The trivia tests were fun! He's easy to talk to which helps you get the most out of the class. Overall one of the best teachers at COD.
Professor O. is up there with some of the best teachers I have had thus far in college. He was incredibly helpful towards his students that approached him. His lectures are so informative and enjoyable. All around awesome professor that you learn so much from!
Great prof. Truly interested in his work. Offers lots of advice, support and grace toward students. Definitely take him for Art History!
Awesome Sauce!
Fair teacher, I had no interst in this class but became intersted!
This is a fabulous class to take in person. The lectures are informative and interesting. Prof. O. is a wealth of information with a true love of the subject. His enthusiasm is infectious. If you show up and do the work, this is an easy A. His expectation are completely reasonable and clearly defined.
He was a great teacher for what I was taking. I needed to take a fine arts gen ed for my University and his class was easy but i learned a lot. He was very flexible and i was easily able to complete this class while working 40 hour work weeks.
The work expected and readings given were straightforward. You have to do the readings to do well on the quizzesexams. He is a great professor. Made sure to stress availability and openness to answering any question students had. Wanted people to succeed in his class. Lectures were informative, but managing editor, about 20-25 minutes.
Professor O. is hands down the best teacher I've had in college so far. He absolutely loves art and history. His lectures have taught me more about the world than I ever thought I could in a semester. If you show up, do the work, and participate in class you will finish with over 100%. He makes it simple if you do the work you pass.
He is awesome! Extremely helpful! You definitely have to listen in on his lectures and do the khan academy in order to do good on his trivia quizzes!
Great class, interesting lectures and professor who really loves what he does!
Great class even if you aren't an art major and have to take it. There are a few articles you need to read during the semester but they're usually pretty straight-forward and he always explains the reading or any questions you may have. Response papers are easy and there are no tests, just trivia: which is easy if you actually study for them!
Ouellette is an amazing professor. I was never really interested in art, and after taking this class, I can confidently say that he has opened my eyes a lot to appreciating art more. He is lectures are clear and really gets you thinking. Also a really cool guy. AND he has field trips to the art institute and offers EC. So glad I took this class!
Prof O is one of the best professors I've ever had. I took this class online, but I still learned so much. I never had an interest in art history but after taking this class that has definitely changed! His video lectures were very interesting and easy to follow. He does a great job at teaching this subject. Highly recommend!
Such an awesome instructor! Definitely made my online class more enjoyable and not as stressful as most of them are. Very clear schedule and easy routine to get into. I loved it!
I've known Ouellette before I took any of his classes and he is amazing. He is one of those people that has a great personality in front of a large group and even greater in person because he genuinely cares about your growth. Please take this course if you actually want to learn and grow because he will give you everything you need to exceed.
Professor Ouellette is a good teacher. He assigns weekly articles to read (which are often challenging) and has you do a 200-400 word analysis on them. As long as you do that and take notes during his lectures, you will do just fine in this class!
Professor O. is passionate about what he teaches. His online lectures and videos are fun and interesting. Read the textbook+ watch videos he posts on Bb+ complete assignments on time+ participate on discussion board Easy "A".
Professor O. is pretty awesome. I loved the fact he did online videos for the class. This helped as it gave an overview of the chapter we would be reading about. His grading is very clear. The only way you can fail is if you don't participate on the discussion boards and don't do your homework. Overall this was a fun class.
Professor O. was awesome, and I am glad that I had him as my first online professor. My friend took the same course but in class, and he says that he is just a great guy. The class is organized very well and as long as you put in effort and not procrastinate, it's an easy A. He is always reachable for help through email or in person. Def recommend.
He's a great teacher, the only reason I put a 3 in clarity and easiness is because he really makes you think. Its not a bad thing its a fun challenge. As a person hes cool, funny, and understanding. Hes not a teacher that will call you out and make you look stupid. All in all I would take him again
take him without worrying.
Professor o is the best! He's funny and clear. For non western history we read a book and did group discussions. The book was challenging but after he explained it the chapters were clear. There are no tests or quizzes. He's funny also. I recommend taking this class with this professor and you'll pass no problem
Interesting class. Fair work and assignments!
Wonderful teacher. Took this class for the credit but ended up loving it. There's a reading once a week and a short response due but they're super easy. The book is slightly challenging if you've never read higher level texts but he's a great teacher and the class will go by fast! Easy A
I took his class online (art 2211) and I couldn't be happier, knowing that I have 4 other courses to worry about, he is very lean and nice, everything was organized on blackboard so you can't really feel confused. he provides 3 extra credit 10 points each. all about discussion board, responses and quizzes (easy). you won't regret him.
David is clear in what is expected in the class and the points for each project. He spaces out the due dates for the sections of the research paper to help students manage their time. There is a weekly discussion / 1 page paper done in a small group for the assigned chapter; a semester-long research paper; & a group case study and presentation.
I haven't taken an art class in years and Professor O. made it super easy. He is very helpful and takes the time to explain everything. There is no text book, only online videos. Gives a handful of quizzes, but they are group quizzes and there's extra credit every time. By far one of the best classes I have taken.
Professor O. is an amazing teacher. I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed an Art class as much as I did this. I loved khan academy which is an online book that keeps track of your readings, so reading is a must. The good thing about khan academy is that is interactive and not boring to read at all. Do your job and you will pass. No Tests
Great professor
Great lectures, you can tell he's very interested in art. He's a fair grader, so you'll get what you put in. But, he does give plenty of extra credit opportunities, so take advantage of them! He's hilarious and he'll gladly help you anytime you ask. It's a great class!
Prof. David always made sure that we were doing good. he would email us and ask us how were doing. he would answer any question you had and would let you know whats coming up. this class was worth it.
Really enjoyed the class. Professor Oullette is relatable and made the material interesting. The use of Khan Academy was a major plus as opposed to a traditional boring textbook. Would highly recommend.
I wouldn't say this class was easy, but he definitely made it enjoyable. However, you do have to read a lot. Otherwise, great Professor and I recommend taking his class.
I took this class online (my first online class) and Prof O was awesome. The schedule is super clear and the work is not bad at all! He has good communication and often posts announcements on Blackboard! I don't even really like art but this class was interesting and easy! ALSO THERE ARE NO TEXTBOOK OR MATERIAL FEES!!
Despite the amount of homework that is given, they are all supper easy to do. 15-40 min max. Would recommend taking him.
Love this class
This professor is awesome; instead of big tests and quizzes, he has trivia's. In trivia's you are in a group and use your brains to answer the questions. This is a fun way of learning each material in this course.
Funny guy, very good at explaining material clearly, I felt very comfortable in class
No Exams, No Quizzes, No FINALLLLLL!
Professor O was absolutely fantastic, the way he had the semester set up made everything seem so simple! The only issue in the class would be the material on Khan Academy. It does help a LOT in the course, there's just a LOT of it and takes a long time to complete. Then again it does beat having to buy $100+ textbook. Overall, love this class.
lots of extra credit opportunities and field trips.
Amazing teacher that always gets back to you and gives clear instructions. Not one bad thing to say about him.
It's always nice having Prof. O
Proffesor O is an inspirational human being. He makes the class so interesting and he knows so much. He is the best professor I have taken!
Really enjoyed his online modern art course. Probably the best humanities class I've taken. Not having to buy a textbook was awesome. Video lectures/material were kinda overwhelming in terms of quantity and length but I was always entertained. Reaction essays were engaging and somewhat fun to write since they were semi-informal. Would recommend!!
Excellent teacher, easy grader. took this class online in the summer and it was an easy A. 3 discussion boards, 3 map posts, and few easy quizzes.
Prof. Ouellette does a great job explaining the reading from within the book. With all the background knowledge of Art History that he has, he knows exactly how to explain the information being presented. He was an awesome teacher, I will definitely recommend him to anyone who is planning to take an Art history class.
Great course and professors Oh is a great teacher. super friendly
Try your best to follow the schedule but he likes to make plenty of changes. quizzes are hard but makes up if you show up and do the homework. Do the work asked ahead of time otherwise it builds up. lots of extra credit, classes get canceled often for field trips that are generally not at a good time. lectures are online but attendance is mandatory
Great lectures! Lots of interesting information about history and fun speaker. Funny, passionate and very knowledgeable. The Professor is always willingly to help and gives great feedback on questions/papers. Not too heavy on homework- some reading assignments and one project done throughout semester. Opportunities for field trips and extra credit.
Ouellette had this class set up so that his students get to learn about what we wanted to learn about, he gave us options on what he'd lecture about and have the class choose what interests them the most which is really cool. Two classes a week -one day is usually group work with the textbook and the other day for lectures. Fun class!
Very thorough with lectures, the concepts learned in class are difficult but you won't leave feeling overwhelmed by them. Although he's very involved in getting the student to a level a understanding that up to par with the rest of the class, it's up to you to do the work that will get you the A.
fun class , you would like the Trivia game. It is really amazing game he choose to check how much you learn from his class. ( has bonus round to get extra credits ). Have 6 articles to read and then write 6 review papers , these are not articles that you read for entertainment, little bit hard to read, anyway he always accepts late assignment.
Amazing. Funny, nice, awesome. Loves the course material and it shows and makes the class so much better
AWESOME awesome professor.
Awesome professor I had him for 3 art history classes. Highly recommend him if you do the work you will get an A
I strongly recommend Show up on time Turn in homework Study a little for the quizzes Do the extra credit You will pass with what grade you earned no surprises here.
Took 2 online classes with him this summer. No textbook required, uses Kahn Academy. 3-4, 15 minute video lectures per unit/week. One quiz per week that you can take until you score 100%. One discussion board post (300-500 words) one reply post (150 words) per week. Semester long research paper 1000-1200 words. Easy A, just get stuff in on time
Lecture driven class, luckily the prof. O is a star lecturer.
Professor O is very passionate about art. He is obsessed with the book Thinking with Things which is the book you will use for class. You have to write a summary on every chapter in the hook but he lets you do it in groups. 2 presentations 1 in group and 1 individually. He is funny and his lectures are interesting !
Very interesting lectures
keeps time in class moving, offers plenty of opportunity for extra credit, always available outside of class, fun environment, plenty of outside activities, very engaging, answers emails promptly,
Professor O. is a great professor! He has very clear grading criteria and has plenty of extra credit opportunities. The Trivias (Quizzes) are done with 1-2 other people and they are graded very fairly. I am planning on taking this professor again next semester.
David is an awesome professor. I have taken 2 of his classes and will probably take another. He keeps his lectures interesting and is very passionate about art. The semester long project is easy to handle as long as you turn in each piece on the due dates he gives you. Make sure you take notes and study them to be prepared for Trivia!
Professor Ouellette was an awesome instructor! I might not have been the most interested in Art in general but he was entertaining and made class a joy. There are a few readings which on average are 10 pages and you write a response. I would highly recommend him if you are interested in Art because this guy knows his stuff. Also he got us pizza!
Professor Ouellette is a great teacher! I really enjoyed his online class. His grading criteria is very clear and you have more than enough time to finish the assignments. Take him.
Awesome and understanding instructor. Very interested in making sure you understand the content of the course and making sure you're successful. He was very helpful.
Weekly homework and reading, but It's nowhere near over the top. Very manageable and interesting class. I wasn't required to order any books and he made very interesting recorded lectures for the online course. Weekly typed discussions for online documentaries we were required to watch, and we made an online prezi for the final project.
You had a week to do whatever assignments that were listed and the assignments were never overwhelming. I was able to finish the course a month early to give me time to really work on the final project he gives you in replacement to a final exam. You also get a free admissioned trip to the Art Institue for extra credit!
Professor is Amazing. This class is a fantastic learning Opt Usual online quizzes, np. must attend 3 concerts of choice, write short pap, Music Res Pap due at end plus extra credit, Fantastic feedback, and challenges thinking. Go to Art Mues too if you want, FREE w class option free parking too! Highly encourage his classes RESPECTED
I've had Ouellette as a professor on multiple occasions. He's well spoken and is very clear on directions. His courses are easy to understand and very fun. The workload isn't overwhelming. It's actually just the right amount actually. Highly recommend anyone to take his classes!
Prof O may be one of the most straightforward teachers that I've had the pleasure of meeting. From the first day of class to the end, you will know what is expected of you . The way he dissects his research project and other assignments is so organized and he takes the time to answer questions or concerns. He cares about his students and it shows.
Very easy going teacher, gives ample time to complete assignments, fair grading, overall great teacher.
The best teacher I have had. Super nice and makes the class super fun and interesting. Great field trip opportunities. Assignments are graded fair. If you need help he is always available per request. Highly recommend him as a teacher if you plan on taking any art history class!
Professor Ouellette is unique, in that; he is serious about the discipline of teaching Art History, but also highly likeable and not overbearing - like some professors can be. It is obvious, he really loves Art History and cares about his students' success. I thought the class was a very good blend of material and if you do the work you'll do well.
I think professor Ouellette is a unique professor; smart but not pretentious, knowledgeable but open to new ideas, serious but fun. I look forward to class. The group work gets a little stale but loved trivia and his lectures. Not hard to get an A but definitely need to show up and do the work.
I liked the format of the course. I especially appreciated having the timeline established so that I could plan effectively and work ahead if I knew I had something coming up. I liked having Khan Academy for the "text book". The videos that we used for our topical essays were excellent.
I liked the format of the course and using Khan Academy as a textbook. I loved the subject material and feel like I have a much better grasp on the history and the art of the time.
Professor Ouellette makes sure everyone understands the material. Shows interest in his students and it shows. I really enjoyed the material that was taught and was very surprised about how much I learned. The workload isn't bad at all in fact its pretty simple to get a good grade. Just make sure you turn in all of your assignments and study!!
He was a relatively good teacher, most days were lectures, sometimes you would get into groups and talk about the essay. He was funny and fun, there was little mini games he would include in class days sometimes. For those of you who are introverts, there is a presentation as a final so beware of that.
I took his class a while ago but I think a lot about the way he taught me to view and appreciate art, it really made an impact on me
He doesn't have too many assignments just about two assignments per week. Class wasn't difficult at all you can finish all of within about two months early.
Fantastic teacher. Lectures are very interesting and enthusiastically delivered. Welcomes feedback and discussion. Very bright and open minded. Makes you work for your grade but gives you chances to improve it or get extra credit. Very passionate and knowledgeable about his subject and teaching in general. Challenging and satisfying course
I took Art History 2211 online. The course schedule is clear. There are basically 2 weeks for each unit with a film to watch & a graded discussion. There is no textbook as Khan Academy is used online with articles and videos and a quiz for each unit. There is 1 research project broken down into manageable sections. Prof O is great & clearly cares!
Very clear outline and syllabus, follow the schedule follow the instructions and read/watch the material and you will do great!
Easy going, made the class comfortable, listened to questions/comments/concerns his students had, engages his students (without embarrassing them in front of the class), lecture heavy but isn't totally bland or monotone, also does field trips and travel opportunities
the best lecturer teacher for art . a joy to be coming to the class .
He was very helpful throughout the course. Made comments on all assignments.
Enjoyed the class. WOuld take your courses again!
He's a great professor
Thank you Professor Outlette for being a great teacher in pushing me to bring out the best in me in my homework even when sometimes I struggled and did not do my best. You concluded me to work harder and always practice improving honing my skills in doing research and analyses which I need to work on. I look forward to taking a new class from you
I enjoyed going to his lectures! Hes always willing to help, if youre struggling.
Really enjoyed this class! Lots of khan academy work, but they help with the biweekly quizzes. Video lectures that you need to do a BB discussion post every week along with a response. A bit of writing due to the research project. Hes a tough grader, but gives good feedback and gives you a change to resubmit if you talk to him. Would take again!
Best professor EVER!!!! He is absolutely amazing: if you want art history credit, Professor Ouellette is the one to take! He uses khan academy as the textbook and is very clear on what he expects of his students. After next semester, I will have taken three classes with him. Absolutely amazing, take his class!!!!
great professor, had interesting and clearly focused lectures with challenging homework and articles to read. flexible with grades and open to helping anyone who needed it. very fun and learned a lot!!
Excellent teacher! I have taken a lot of courses and hes one of the best instructors Ive had! Better than a lot at the university level as well! Course was not difficult if you take notes on lectures and videos and put effort into your assignments. I wouldnt hesitate to take another one of his classes. Recommended!
Professor Oullette's online art class was the first online course I had ever taken. It consisted of 1 unit every 2 weeks in the 12 week course, totaling to 6 units. It was simple yet a good amount of work that helped me learn a lot about art. I would recommend this class to others interested in trying out an online course. He is awesome.
Prof. O. was awesome and made history lectures interesting. There were short papers due and a final presentation but he is a fair grader. There were a lot of extra credit opportunities so no excuse not to get an A or B in this class. If you need or enjoy art history then Prof. O. is the teacher to take.
A good teacher but lots of work :D
He let you work ahead on everything. Deadlines were clear. Cool topics to learn about. Would definitely take his class again.
The class is not hard whatsoever, but there is lots of work. As long as you make time for this class, there is no reason why you shouldn't get an A. Great professor overall.
I feel that I am already specific enough.
He's very open minded. He's what you expect your art teacher would be since he's very appreciative. He's one of those people who will take his time to lecture and makes sure everyone knows where he's at. He has a clear view of what art is and how art can be projected into almost anything. (Great political insights too! Lol)
Professor O is a great professor. He genuinely cares and is a great resource for help with choosing classes and other advice. Including life advice! His classes are challenging at times but very passable and extremely eye-opening. Plus he is vegan, so what's not to love!? Take his "Seeing Animals" class if he teaches it again!
I really enjoy the video lectures and the use of online tools. Besides, I found challenging and interesting the critical-thinking writing posts. My only comment is about the weekly discussion in which I would like to have more interaction and debate.
As long as you do the work and put in the time, you'll be perfectly fine.
I took Art 2213 online with Professor O. I thought that his class was manageable, and I reccomend this course and professor to anyone else.
You cannot go wrong with Professor O. He is very lenient with grading and accepting some late work. Work and studying for Trivia Quizzes (which count as tests and are super fun/engaging) were manageable. He is a great guy and a caring and competent professor.
Professor O is a great teacher. He's lectures are very interesting. Readings are assigned and are discussed in class . A research project is explained in the beginning of the semester and it is broken down in parts to complete throughout the semester. You can go any time for help. Quizzes are in trivia game format and study guide is provided.
David is a amazing Professor I Really encorage anyone to take his classes he his really down to earth and cares about his students just do the work and show up to class.
I loved Prof. Os class! He gave a semester project that was broken down into pieces to complete every few weeks. His lectures were very interesting and he cares deeply about his students. You control how much this class will benefit you. He only wants to help you!
Great Professor! Gives detailed responses to all your work, grades assignments in a timely manner and if no communication is in place! Very respectful and interactive with students. Plenty of resources provided to ensure success in this class! The way this professor operates inspires you to put in full effort as it get noticed! Give em a raise!
I took my first art class in college with Prof. O. He is a very down to earth guy and cares about his students. I am not a fan of art classes and I passed his class with more points than needed that is how great he is. Offers a ton of extra credit. Easy A as long as you complete the work. He accepts late work also for full credit.
You can tell Prof. O cares about the subject material he teaches; more so, you can clearly tell he cares about his students. In regard to the class, most of your grade will come from written work, and there are a couple in-class trivia games for credit. Put in the work, and you should do well--he is not a very tough grader. Take his classes!
Super understanding and willing to work with you to get the most out of his class. Did a great job during the transition to online coursework due to COVID-19. I really enjoyed him as a professor
He's super chill, really nice, and was clear on all the material. Quick to respond when you had questions too. Your grade is based on quizzes, discussion posts, and the end of semester project so make sure you're participating. I loved the project though, it was super creative and fun. Overall good class, I learned a lot!
I loved taking Professor Ouellette's Modern and Contemporary Art. He always made sure that all assignments for the week were clearly stated. He also was always understanding when answering any type of question. He made the class fun even for students that are not majoring in art. If you are able to take a class with Professor Ouelette do it!!
He's super nice and understanding! I usually hated art history, but he is very passionate about it and made it interesting. The homework was always clear as long as you go through the lectures. Overall awesome guy!
The class was online and was a NET course. He gave short videos for each unit and assignment for what he was looking for. He's super laid back and wants you to succeed. I know nothing about art but passed easily. I highly recommend this professor if you want a class that you can easily pass!
Professor O. was a great professor! Took him for a 12 week art history course and was nervous because I know nothing about art. You could tell he wants his students to succeed. Videos and discussion boards and then an overall project, it will be an easy A if you do the work! I actually found myself enjoying the material each week. Take him!!
Took during 2020 Fall semesterdiscussion boards every week (250-word minimum). No test or quizzes instead a large exhibition project that you work on throughout the semester and turn in at the end. Ouellette gives clear feedback before the final turn-in and is very passionate about what he does. Have taken 2 classes with them and would again!
Professor O is awesome! Makes it clear from the beginning of the class that if you diligently do the work and plan ahead you will receive an A. Did not have to purchase a book instead we used a great software for the course readings which was free. He is very compatible if you communicate and was able to learn some interesting things!
David is a great teacher, especially if you take his online course. Everything is laid out from day one for you to be successful. All assignments have "due dates," however, before the deadline you can submit anything as many times as you like until you get 100%. Just turn in the homework each week, and I promise that you will pass with an A!
Really easy teacher, almost no effort required. Made critiques to my writing that were invalid or unnecessary, should stick to teaching art. The online format was well laid out, but it was too easy to pass if that is what you are going for.
The online course is easy to navigate and you can even work ahead if you like. He was very generous with over due assignments (aside from the final project, thats a hard deadline). I only got to talk to him over zoom once for the project within the course, but he seemed very nice.
As long as you do the work you will get a good grade. He is very helpful. Gives good feedback so that you can improve. Would take again.
Cares about the material and what you have to say about the course content. Really clear about expectations, due dates, schedule, etc. You can tell he wants students to succeed and provides a lot of opportunity for reflection, response, and creative outlets rather than tests/quizzes. Would recommend
My favorite professor I've had. Grading is basically just based on completion and late work is accepted. It was clear that he was passionate and knowledgeable about his subject and his course content and feedback reflected this. Overall really engaging class even if art isn't your main interest.
Prof. Ouellette is awesome! Super passionate and knowledgeable, genuinely wants everyone to learn and take away something of value from class. Class usually consists of going over our discussion board from the previous lesson, maybe doing an activity, and then a lecture. We even got to take a field trip to the Art Institute, which was a blast :)
My only caveat is that I didn't really get to experience his knowledge. It was just lectures and reading. It would be nice if he would make his own presentations and or his own videos explaining the subjects as he is very passionate about art history. I know more students would appreciate it from him. Great professor. Take him.
pretty easy.Only discussion board, reply and project divided in 7 parts and one part is due Sunday.Pretty tough grader if you don't follow his instructions so read thoroughly and watch the videos he posts about the assignment. If he gives you a zero,he'll let you re-do it as many times until he just gives you full points either you get 2pts or 0 pts.
So, when I chose this class, I thought it was going to be great because of his rating on here. The work is easy, but he came off as snobby or rude. In this class whenever I turned in the work, he would backhand complement me and make me feel like I did a bad job on something when I know I didn't. Be careful choosing him as a professor
In his grading process he is very clear on the minimum requirements to receive full credit. But beware if you only do the minimum requirements, he is very sensitive and will give you negative and unnecessary feedback. other than that, it was an easy A just be ready for the negativity. Would not recommend if you are a sensitive person
Clear guidelines and gives full credit if meet minimum requirements, and follows up with helpful feedback on how to improve your writing! I've met him in person and he's a very caring and understanding instructor that's easy to reach outside of class. I'm in the same course as some of these other critical students.. my advice- 100% take this class!
Professor Ouellette has proven to be an incredibly flexible professor, providing opportunities for his students and allowing for us to participate and succeed in his class even during extenuating circumstances. I would highly recommend taking classes with him as your instructor.
This professor gives harsh and negative feedback and it often comes off as a personal attack. If he graded me poorly on an assignment, none of his comments about why he did so were actually helpful or necessary.
He is very lenient on late work and has very simple requirements of the assignments. If given feedback on a particular assignment, he is straightforward on what needs to be fixed, so you'll be able to correct it. He doesnt give to much work but when there is homework, he gives you a reasonable amount of time in order to do it before the deadline.
Love Prof O! In my second class with him now and couldn't recommend enough. Lots of reading/videos since it's an accelerated course but he's super clear on expectations and wants you to succeed, so just stay on top and you'll be fine! Super cool guy, invested in his students, passionate, and easy to contact. Really fostered my love of art history!
I took Art 2211, 2212, and 2213 with David. 2211 was an 8 week online course. It was a lot of work, but definitely doable. David is a fair grader, super helpful, and replies to emails quickly. If you get the chance to go on a field studies trip with David, DO IT! I went on the NYC and CDMX trips--All I can say is they were AWESOME experiences!
I enjoyed him. His online class was very easy, assignments are very minimal points (usually 2 or 3 points) so you have to stay on top of them. There is not a ton of work to do, everything is due Friday nights and takes me maybe an hour tops. He has clear grading criteria which makes the class easy and he ALWAYS gives feedback. Would take again!
Loved this 8 week class, the content for this course and the paper you have to write throughout the semester are really engaging and interesting. As long as you follow the criteria set for each assignment it is a very easy class. Mostly discussion boards and readings alongside a big paper that he gives you plenty of time to work on.
A must take, he has a clear grading system and sticks to it. As long as you're turning in your work you will be fine.
Engaging art course with a helpful professor. Lots of discussion boards and a big paper, but doable with the right approach. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prep!
It was a pretty okay class. The assignment instructions were clear, and he was very strict about following them. Unfortunately, I fear Prof. Ouellette is allergic to emails. I emailed him maybe four times about my grade and did not receive a response, so take that how you will. Easy A though
The class is overall really easy. To the point it was almost boring but with all my other classes I used this time to do homework. 3 credits with little effort! SLAY
If you find Art history interesting definitely pay attention to the lectures but you're never tested on the information so note taking is not necessary. We got graded on attendance and the final project and that was everything for the whole semester. The final project is almost completely self guided and the grading on it is not harsh at all.
This class was really fun to take. The professor is helpful with posting weekly videos going over what is due that week, and it's clear he genuinely enjoys what he does. As long as you follow instructions for weekly discussion posts and keep up with the work, you should do well.
Just follow the rubric & you'll get 100%. My only complaint is that he doesn't respond to emails or atleast he takes forever to get back. Overall, easy class.
Art Teacher with a snob mentality. Anytime you complete a discussion board and its not up to his expectations, he'll turn into a bob cut Karen and give you a zero for "vagueness" "Lack of effort" or the best one "unable to grant credit." Plus the project he makes you do in parts shows his "lack of effort" as a six figure salary teacher. Do better.
wonderful, no notes.
