Good teacher! Really cool, took him for first session of summer school, so its really fast paced. I scored an A in his class and he goes over everything really well...so there shouldn't be a reason for you to not get an A. He's funny too!

Very organized clear. One of the best math teachers that work at cypress. He lectures are boring, however it's explained well. He will go over Test are pretty easy just do the bookwork. He will help you out if you need help at the end of the class if you do not understand. It's very nice because he's not very intimitating like other teachers.

Hands down the best teacher I have ever had! He brings humor into the class because he knows how much students hate math. If you take his advice on how to do the work, you will do fine. Make sure to show up to class every day, you can't miss a match lecture and stay caught up anyway. Thanks Mr. Petrie for an amazing time in math!

He was the best math professor I have ever had. I'm not good at math, but he was always there to help me out whenever I needed it. His explanations were very easy to understand, and if you didn't get it the first time, he explained it in different ways until you did.

If you ASK QUESTIONS, he will explain until you get it. Sometimes he goes too fast, and it's hard to keep up. Take the PAL tutoring that goes with the class!!! His jokes are funny and help lighten the atmosphere, but for "non-math" people, you have to work to keep up. He's very approachable help you, but you have to take some initiative.

He is a very cool teacher.If you don't get something he'll use a variety of examples for you so you can understand the material better. There's not that much homework, doesn't go by the book, but his way is sometimes easier. There's extra credit and he's very reasonable on his scoring.

Petrie is the man, super funny, hard worker, has great stories, a genuine person who really cares about the student. If you have to take a Math class, especially Algebra, Petrie is the ONLY way to go. He wasn't teacher of the year for nothing!

Petrie is a great math teacher. Show up to class, attendance is important and will benefit you @ the end of the semester. 4-5 test, which he sometimes gives take home test or group test. Mr. Petrie made the class fun by loosening up the students with his stories. I recommend everyone to come prepare to work hard. After not passing Math 20 twice (w/other teachers) I got an A with him. As a teacher, he does a great job. He doesn't want to hear another kid's excuses though, and tolerances are allowed based on your grade and attendance. Get your HW done b4 each class! You must be making a true effort in the class to get help from him. Not a lot of HW, so good..

Only 3 people in the class got an A, and I was one of them. Do the HW before EVERY class, EC will pop up in class as partner speed math so good to have done your hw! Make the effort & read the book before class. SI does not get you EC, but he grades with a smile for those in SI. This class is what you make it by the time & effort you put into it.

Office hours are early in the morning. Okay if you have the 7 a.m. class, etc. Otherwise, go to SI to get help. Only use him for SPECIFIC ?'s. He'll answer ?'s on the last hw assign'd each class day too, so do the HW and have your most important ?'s ready. He's not going to babysit you thru each HW problem. He also gives time in class to start HW.

Ahh!! Prof. Petrie!! OMG THE BEST TEACHER OF ALL :D Totally recommend him! Very funn, helpful, lectures are crystal clear. Although at times he might go to the lesssons fast but its all good. Just ask him any question he will answer it until you get it. He also gives lots of extra credit. Do your work study then your good to go! :D

worked my butt off in this class and finished with a B. keeps you on your toes all semester but really wants you to understand the material. his tests are nothing like the hw, but the amount of extra credit he gives out is insane. again... really pushes you to try your hardest and will not fail you if you stick with it. would def. recommend him

David Petrie is a Great Teacher. If you decide to take his class you better be ready to work for your grade and the last I checked thats the way the real world works! If you hate math and don't understand it, then I recommend Mr. Petrie. He is a very detail person and that helps a lot when trying to understand math. At first, he may seem like a jerk, but he is a very nice funny guy. Do all his work, bring the materials, and always come to class and there's no way he will let you fail the class!

GREAT TEACHER. I failed math all through hs and this year i got an A. I learned concepts i never understood in previous classes. He has a great method of teaching and he really knows his stuff. As long as you do the hw and study, you will do fine on tests. He gives alot of extra credit also. And his cheesy jokes will always make you smile :)

David Petrie is a great teacher. He wants you to succeed. You have to do the HW in order to be prepared for the tests. He goes over the HW and answers all questions.He offers EC. As long as you show up to class, do the HW and are respectful, you'll do great in his class. I love his cheesy jokes and stores. Certainly keeps the class entertaining.

I took Mr. Petrie 20 years ago for Algebra and I still remember his name and what a great teacher he was, so obviously left a good impression. Funny guy and he knows his material. Will help you if you need him to.

He uses the book. I got by just taking pictures of the h.w. Assignments because his lectures are very thorough. He was very easy to understand. I tried taking this class 3x @ GWC and couldn't pass. I'd say my background with the material helped. I loved the fact that this class cared about home work. If you attend every class and do your h.w. you will do well. The final ended up take home h.w. for those with less than 3 absences. I got a B in the class.

Great great math teacher. Nobody likes math and he knows that so he tries to make class funny and will always help if you need it. And my advice to you: DO NOT MISS MORE THAN 2 CLASSES... it will pay off at the end of the semester!

Petrie is a very funny and entertaining teacher, I always enjoyed coming to his class. The material on the other hand, isn't very easy. Some of his lectures are very disorganized. He highly recommends reading the book, and I have to agree. You will have to work a lot outside of class. He's fair in grading, but it is fairly hard material.

The material is difficult to take in, but if you read the book along with re-reading your lecture notes, you will pass. He gives a lot of extra credit, but it should not be used as a way to pass, it should be used as a way to bump up your grade. I got an A but maintained a B until the final. Great Teacher! Def taking him again!

I am far from a math person but Petrie does his best to make sure you do well. Attendance is a biggy for him. At the end of the semester, if you've turned in all homework and missed less than 3 days, you only have to take the first part of the final. He gets off topic a lot to try to make it interesting, but he tries. Put in the effort and he will.

Mr. Petrie is a great teacher. This is a man who is very passionate and wants his students to succeed. He really cares. He has been one of my favorite professors at Cypress College. I'm not good at math and found the course difficult at times but having a teacher like Petrie helped me to succeed. I recommend you take him.

I truly enjoyed Petry as a teacher. Hes kinda scattered, and can go on random tangents, but I like his humor and found him to be funny. I think he really wants his students to succeed. He gives out lots of EC, take home and group tests. This class is best for the student that is able to learn math on their own outside of the class room.

Pretty easy class with lots of potential extra credit without doing much more work. He can really go off on his stories and tries to infuse them with humor like a father would. I think he wastes too much time with them, but that's just me. Prone to make mistakes when doing problems.

Do all the homework which isn't that much if you spread it out throughout your week and try to go to the math lab if you are having trouble. I went to the math lab right before every test and got A's on every test. He tells a lot of jokes which makes the class fun. Don't skip class if possible, it will benefit you big time. Good teacher!

I was terrified of Math and failed my first test. Petrie showed concern and suggested help for me. He is always there to ask questions and support. He gives extra credit, and if you don't miss any of his lectures he calculates that into your grade. Also hand in your homework onetime. He made Math learning fun! Final grade ended with an A!

Mr. Petrie made an otherwise boring class worth going to. He is however very set in his methods. But I have yet to meet a math teacher who does not believe their way to be the only/best way. He was clear cut and grades you on what you deserve. He will work with you and can see effort when it's there. Grades on a curve so try your best!
