i was asleep throughout the semester..its a boring class and he's confused more than ever
David P. is a nice professor. He is helpful and his grading method is more than "fair". Although the subject he teaches is not so attractive for most of the students he gives his best to make it interesting. How a student can enjoy any class without being prepared to participate in class? We also ar
David is Very intellegent, and the class isnt all that hard. He goes out of his way to be helpfull. He tends to over simplify somethings which makes the class boring. More class discusion and well thought out argument. In futre classes he might want to structure a class discution and run with it.
he tries really hard to make the class interesting, but since he's so damn smart, sometimes i was lost. but he's trying he'll be a better professor once he's out og grad school i wish him all the best
David's class is interesting. You get from it as much as you put into it.The class would be better if there was more class participation. He tries to engage the class, but they are not prepared and don't offer anything back.People should take the class as serious as he does.
David is a very intelligent professor. Given the degree of difficulty affiliated with this subject, David has done a tremendous job in ensuring that he provides the clarity needed for us to comprehend these topics. On a personal note, he has been very understanding given my job and personal issues.
This guy is awesome! David is nice, kind, smart and very understanding. I had a problem at the beginning of semester dealing w/ philosophy, and didn't hand in many h.w's...David gave me a chance to make 'em all up. Doesn't care about latenesses, absences. Just take him! He's NICE! M.I...
If you want to learn Philosophy or get a god grade DONT take this guy at all. He thinks he's the most intelligent person on the face of the earth.
He is nice if you participate a lot and know whats going on in class. Most of the times he confuses you through his language. So you have to get a coffee before his class and try your best to contact his after class.
David is a GREAT professor. He always goes the extra mile by sending us emails about the lessons. He makes sure that you get all of the information that is necessary. The notes are very helpful in understanding the subject and with the upcoming tests. TAKE HIM-JUST PARTICIPATE & you won't regret it.
He is great the only thing is he is over smart. He knows a lot which makes his lectures difficult and mostly complicated to understand by students. If you want an A,Just participate and make sure he knows you very well.Participation can even hide ur bad grades.Take him if you dont want to work alot.
his quizes are easy. just read a lil. you get massive massive points for participating. like you could be a moron on quizes and still come out with a very nice grade if u participate a lot. show some interest and he'll show u a good grade
He is hot in a weird kinda way...lol, anyway this class is easy if you do the readings and participate. He is way too smart though so it sometimes makes it hard to follow him, but like i said do the readings and you do good...
This is an extremely knowledgeable Philosophy professor. He covered a ton of material out of 3 text books but went over everything in detail in class discussions. As long as you read the material and participate in class (and even discuss the topics by email), you're good to get an A in this class. The quizzes are thorough but easy. -mshafi
very good professor he manages to explain philosophy which gets pretty abstract and make it understandable. quizzes are not real hard you just need to read the notes. knows material very well
he's a waste of time.... and he'll grade you unfairly!! Be warned! Very boring class too. He has a condesending tone also - when students run theories by him he has a tendency to dismiss their views in egotistical way!
This class is very manageble since their are no tests, just quizzes. As long as you read the material and fully comprehend it u will be fine. If not, go to class (no attendance however)and listen his lectures where he thouroughly breaks down the theories and respective arguments. IF u have a prior interest in philosophy, u might find ths cls boring
It's easy to get an A in this class simply because there are so many chances for you to do well. He gives approx 10 quizzes throughout the semester, offers extra credit for participation, and he's really easy going. He seems nervous sometimes, maybe because he's young, and so students pick on him a little, but he tries to make the class interesting
He is extremely knowledgeable and focused. He also understands students and tries to make the class interesting, which it certainly is. Very polite and understanding. The ethics part of the course is the best. Thank you professor, we need more like you!
Its sometimes difficult to understand his lectures because they may be comfusing, but hes a cool dude and attendance is only really necessary to know when quizes are. Study for quizzes from reading and participate a bit and you'll be good to go. No final, no midterm, no papers, just quizzes.
Very knowledgeable, helpful, and makes the class interesting. Must participate and do readings if you want to do well in this class. Will take him again.
i think the class was very interesting and informative, but most importantly the professor sincerely welcomes students challenging him. everyone who puts in effort and keeps up with the readings is guarnteed to do well.
Excellent teacher. Passes on his enthusiasm for the topic to the class. I've taken other philosphy courses, but his was the most engaging. His lectures were often brilliant, and he welcomes free discussion but keeps it from going off topic. Respectful of students; makes philosophy seem relevant. A person who was born to teach. Highly recommended.
He was a pretty neat guy and he was also very helpful. He's not out to get you, you get the grade you deserve in his class. Make sure to read whatever is assigned and you will do well on the quizzes.
just read all required materials and participate.. and you'll get a good grade..he encourages free discussions. not out to get you.
He's ok. Not bad at all, he does make the class more interesting than what you would expect and he's good eye candy too. I thought I deserved a better grade tho, I did all the readings and did good on his quizzes, lost my points b/c i never participated. If u want an A remember to PARTICIPATE!
He's young, but boring! I couldn't help to fall asleep. He talks so much, that he doesn't really makes the class discuss, although he wants us to raise our hands. If you try to ask a ques. he answers back in a long and confusing answer. He seems nice, if you don't get on his nerves! Doesn't leave much work except for reading, some interesting
A hot cute professor with the brains to go with the looks.
I think he is nice and funny, 4 tests and a 3 pages paper, not hard.
Very nice and extremely easy professor. As long as you have a basic knowledge of the material, understand the english language, and know how to use microsoft word to type 3 pages, an A should be your grade. Make sure you read and understand the assignements and you are good to go. In case, you messed up on one or two exams, participate!!!
Great professor, admirable, lenient + an easy A. He e-mails reviews before every quiz, and the quizes aren't even that hard. General idea of what's going on and completing ONE essay assignment will result a passing grade. Definitely very helpful in every way. He answers questions in class and by e-mail in relation to the subject. Must take him
he is a great teacher and a very young one. he helps a lot before taking the quiz. no mid-term but at least 4 quizes. well he a very good teacher.
VEry boring class, sometimes quite interesting. EAsy A, easy quizzes, final, and essay assignment. Recommend to take him, even sometimes u won't have a clue what he's taking about, just write down what he write in the board and read the text, it'll be easy A.
Class was overall boring. Take good notes, read the assignments like 2-3 times and do the review sheets he emails and you should be fine. Easy 3 page paper. Lenient grader once you show an effort.
so amazingly boring.. You have to shift a thousand times in your seat.. Take your bathroom break (just walk out).. wander around a few times.. you won't miss anything.. trust me.. blabbers on about Philosopy of the AI.. And loses control of the subject.. Philosophy of the old ages might have been more amusing..
This class is great for naps. Some days he's boring as hell but other days are interesting. no test or midterm just quizzes and final and one paper u have 2 months to do.class can get confusing but basically what he says will be on quizzes and he emails a review sheet which is very helpful.not neccasarily an easy A but an easy A-
Really easy class. Great Professor.
this is an easy class & u learn alot. its a bit borin esp. when he goes off tangent but if u come to class, you'll learn so much & the 3 quizzes & final will be a breeze. the book is helpful if u dont understand everything he says but his examples are pretty clear cut. he's very helpful & gives a review sheet. take him if u can, he's worth it
Great teacher who knows his stuff, but listens to what people think. Doesn't make you feel dumb at all. No surprises on tests. Pretty easy material, just gotta get the first chapter down. TAKE HIM if you can
Awesome professor- he knows his stuff and is always willing to explain whatever is unclear- must take!
So far, he is the best prof in the school!!
I knew nothing about this topic but this professor really teaches so that you understand the topic. He's very fair and he makes the topic easy to learn. Take his class. You won't regret it.
He gave us a pretty clear review. He explained the subject by using a lot of funny examples. He talked a little bit fast but that does not really matter. He sent us review email for each test.
yea he's the best and the cutest teacher in Baruch!! But he's not that easy-easy, you gotta study and be in the class. He's willing to help whatever that's unclear. And sometimes he's funny.
he should get more 5. but i studied on my own. no attendance taken. He is FULL of energy. very willing to help. i got A-. eh. i guess i deserved it. quizzes are simple. not difficult. GOOD JOB teaching. i recommend to everyone. We need more motivated teachers lik him
He's an outstanding Professor @ Baruch! Just go to class, pay attention and you'll do great. He's VERY motivated. That's one reason why the classroom is always full, very few ppl cut his class. He makes philopshy fun and easy to comprehend. I recommend him to everyone who will be takin philopshy.
I would recommend taking him if you like challenge. Taking easy classes will not get you anywhere. He is very helpful and was available when the help was needed. His lectures were prepared very good and the explanation and clarification of the topic was excellent. He definately gets a 5 for the entire class.
I feel Baruch should give Mr. Pereplyotchik a raise for his outstanding performance. He's definitely approachable outside of class. He will go a long way to help anyone! Thanks Professor!
Definitely take his course. He is extremely straightforward, organized, and intelligent. The class is based around easy weekly assignments and a final paper. Everything is explained to the point where it is impossible to not understand the material. He also has way more patience with students than any professor I have ever encountered.
I found the professor very helpfull and the class very educating. The text and examples that make sence and the seemingly poinless and borning conventional philosophy was not present. I wish the class would last longer so I can learn MORE stuff.
Interested in logic? Take his course. It is not difficult but it is illuminating and it satisfies the requirement. Teacher is young, hip, approachable. Material is first assigned then thoroughly explained by his lectures. Homework is regular but rarely takes more than 30 minutes to complete. Take care of your book; you'll want to sell it later.
Don't miss any of his classes, the papers are based on them. Philosophy is not an easy course and he makes it challenging but wat i noticed is that he goes out of his way to teach the material, not too many professors give so much feedback on papers, but he puts in the time and effort, he really wants you to learn. Extremely intelligent, and nice.

I had a great semester! Classes were very interesting! His demands are very clear (and quite simple..) and on the other hand he will do everything to make sure you understand, help out and answer every question! Strongly recomend this class and professor!
A very challenging course with heavy thought process required. The professor makes it all the worth while with his GREAT knowledge in Philosophy. Definitely a learning experience for me. I highly recommend it to those who like to be challenged.
Second class with this prof. the logic and moral reasoning is generally a tough subject to grasp initially, but D taught it very well.
I didn't check this prof out before taking the class but I'm so glad I did...very helpful, interesting and needless to say.....HOT. I highly recommend him.
he is the best. he has clear explaination and has more details. i scored 73 in first exam and then ended up with A- bcoz of his clear explaination. he dropped the lowest score. no attendence taken.
Ridiculously smart! There isn't much he can't go into detail about. Really makes you think about your assertions in a rational manner. Participation is important, which is great! Work isn't easy, but certainly managable. Available outside of class. Oh, and easy on the eyes too. Definitely recommended!
great professor. knows what he is talking about. interesting class, easy test. very helpfull and clear about material. gives a lot of notes. take him!
Great professor, highly recommended. Although there are a few times when it seems as if class interaction is low, he really does try to foster discussion. He offers as much help as needed and allows extensions on papers. Prof. P keeps in touch a lot to keep you updated on what you need to do for class and makes use of Blackboard efficiently. =)
great professor!! takin his summer class now and he is always willing to help his students. Knows what he's talkin about.
David is such a nice professor who is always glad to help his students. He is the most patient professor I have ever seen. Of couse, he is very smart. In all, a good man and best professor.
If u are willing to learn, take him. Hes the logic man, he knows his stuffs and hes smart. He gives HWs from the text, which help a lot. There few notes and he doesnt take attendance after 1st day, but if you want a A,u needa go to his class and listen. he gives extra credits in exams and all of them are just logic,YOU NEED YOUR BRAIN in this class
most of the time, the students knew the work better than he did. It was hillarious!!!
Although I dont go to Baruch anymore, he was my fave. Prof.! He was very kind and patient with everyone which is essential b.c of truly how difficult the class is 2 grasp! He sends emails of review sheets and answers at length in person or in the email n e question you have, I worked my a$$ off but he made me want to excel.
He is super hot! also a decent teacher.
Hot and smart, what else do you need?
He is a good looking Professor, but he is a horrible teacher. There is no extra credit, when you send emails asking questions you get a very vague response from him, his quizes are multiple choice or T/F there are about 4 exams in the class, collects homework. The book is as vague as he is no wonder he loves it so much. He does not let you what yo
He's alright. Must read the book (even when he says its optional) b/c it will help clarify whatever he doesn't. He can be a bit of a ****bag at times, but he'll apologize to the class ahead of time those days. Funny guy and explains stuff pretty well. Would recommend.
He's nice but he needs to learn how to teach. Sometimes he confused the students and himself. No extra credit so don't bother to ask.
This is my first semester at Barauch and I am gald I had this professor for PHI. He is very nice and helpful in trying to answer all his students's questions in person and online. Great person overall!!!
Great professor and tries his best to help all of his students. He is highly intelligent and has really taught me a lot. Definitely a fair grader and makes the class a whole lot of fun. He is great at his job and baruch needs more professors like him.
the best one u can get. easiest grader & xtremely genius who cares for his students. drops onething whatever makes ur grade lower(either Quize,HWorExam)very helpful and gives detailed answer on time.Attendance not mandatry but good 2 go in class coz notes are the best for the exms. failed the quiz in egining.got80,100 and 95(final).gave me A
This professor knows his stuff. His cool personality makes the class even more enjoyable while not acting like a normal professor who is extremely boring. READ THE BOOK AND YOUR SET. VERY HELPFUL VIA EMAIL and i suggest you take him. Makes every class interesting.
One Great professor! Very professional when it comes to student homework (Is available even off the clock, most of times after midnight via e-mail) So you will never be stuck with anything. My advice is to study, and appreciate the class. Easy A only if you like the class. Note: This class will widely open your eyes if you like programming =)
the kind of guy you would want to hang out w/.explains txtbk really well.review sheets r definitely helpful prior to exams(2-3 exams: mult. choice.T/F questions and 1 quiz.).wasnt interested in the class until now.his amusing jokes/anecdotes encourages you to listen.will respond emails the sec after u emailed him (even if it is 4 in the morning).
Awesome professor, he made logic seem easy. I understood it so well that i even helped a friend and she understood what i was teaching her. His review sheets prior to exams are real good. He doesn't like it when you are late to class. great guy class was actually fun. Take his Class!
Great teacher for a somewhat difficult upper level Philosophy class. He makes requirements very clear and does a remarkable job explaining subject matter. He is incredibly approachable and does everything he can to make subject matter relevant and easy to understand. However, he should get students more involved. Other than that, highly recommended
He's one of those nice guys who doesn't take attendance. Quite helpful to students if you need it. Logic itself however is not as easy as it seems. I got confused throughout the semester and finally understood it at the end when I took the final.
Great teacher. He's really chill, funny and cool. Just read the chapters he tells you to read, the review sheets he prints out before an exam and you'll be fine. He's very knowledgeable about logic and the subject is not really that hard to comprehend... just try to pay attention once in awhile. He only gives 3 exams and a mini-essay.
a ton of writing. I'm talking like 60 pages by the end. that said, all you really need to do for the class is read and write. he'll talk about the stuff you read/wrote about in class. chill guy, witty, very entertaining. if you can read and type really fast, definitely take him. if not, take him for another class. it's worth it
He is the most fun teacher i have had in Baruch.
Great Professor! He is very approachable and helpful. He actually takes time to make sure you grasp the material. Lectures are important, but not mandatory.
This professor was amazing, extremely funny, speaks at a level where you can understand him. He answers e-mails even at 3am. I missed a quiz and he even sent it to me via e-mail so I could take it at home. He's also not bad to look at ;)
He's a definite chiller. The type of guy you'd wanna chill or discuss music with. When it got down the the topic of logic, I zoned out- boring. But I'd definitely recommend him for a class involving more dialogue and less focus on the mechanics.
Fair course. To obtain a good grade you need to want it. I recommend this class to those who are not afraid to work
I didn't enjoy this course very much. It was all essays and his lectures were boring. Essays graded extremely hard and not interesting. Final paper was too complicated with too many restrictions. Overall not a great class, I am sure there are other professors out there who teach much better than this guy.
I don't know how anyone can call this professor a CLOWN. He is an extremely intelligent and a respectful professor who is greatly concerned about his students. He did assign lots of papers but the whole point was to challenge his students and actually have them walk out of the class having learned something knew.
One of the most valuable courses I took. Treats students with respect. Will go out of his way to help if you have specific problem/ question. Devoted and enthusiastic about the subject. Very approachable. Papers graded very generously if you show at least some thoughts and efforts.
David's a great guy. Definitely the best class for Philosophy. Seems like a hard class, but it's a breeze if you do the readings and participate. A few easy quizzes and a final, which is very easy and based mostly on past quizzes! Take him :)
Don't get all these great reviews? Does he write them? He can be very helpful but by no means approachable. Too self impressed/self important. Teaching method & course material is hard to grasp & w/o clear guidelines. Seems to get lost in his own lectures- material is sparse & drawn out. Tough/waste of time, as for him- too abrasive for my liking.
The many positive comments here seem spot on. Yeah the reading/writing is hard, but it's also fun and important and Professor Pereplyotchik works hard to maintain a great class atmosphere and to give each student personal attention. This class is truly a philosophy course, so be prepared to think hard. I HIGHLY recommend this professor.
easy class. Interesting lecture. The material is generally not challenging, except the wording of a lot of the text may trip up people who are not good English speakers.
GPA killer, loves himself too much, you will be bored!!! Do you GPA and yourself a favor take another prof. if you can.
VERY SMART! But difficult. however, if you want to get a good great u MUST do all the readings!!! my rate is helpful because I didn't get the grade yet. Yes, he seems too in love with himself sometimes and very opinionated. He has a right to do that though, he is young, smart and already a professor!!!
I forgot to mention... HOT HOT HOT;)))))
David is a smart and an amazing professor. I learned a lot from him this semester and he makes philosophy rather interesting. Attendance and participation is important and the quizzes aren't too hard as long as you study. I highly recommend him!!
Great professor! Fun and interesting. He gave alot of examples so u can understand. A small text book and it is difficult but he gave u his only summary for it. Tests are short(~30 MC). Make sure u go to class and understand what he is teaching and you will be fine. Great class for ppl who dont like math or like thinking instead of memorizing!!
Mistake... I mean this class fit ppl who like math and thinking.... enjoy the logical !!!
hates being late to class. quizes are hard, alot of memmorizing. final paper is 10 page paper and class assignents are mninimum 2 page paper. easy grader on class assignments but you have to understand the material to get credit.need 3 books and additional reading. overall, average grader.
Extremely smart!!!! I was blown away by his crystal clear lectures. SUCH A GREAT PROFESSOR. Fair grader~! I recommend him absolutely!!
Not a class you can breeze by without reading and studying (especially the logic part), but it is one of the few classes where you walk away feeling you actually learned something.
attendance is mandatory, unless you get someone to sign you in. But I suggest you not miss a class b/c logic is HARD! His exams are tricky, he can get you by a word! Doesn't curve and sometimes makes the class later than it should be. But he's funny.
David is a great professor and is very passionate about what he teaches. He made the work extremely relevant with understandable examples and lessons.Attendance is important-if you miss a class it's harder to catch up and understand with just the readings. Take good notes, put in the effort and he'll work with you the rest of the way.
Honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. He's a fair grader, and a great guy. He makes the material extremely interesting, the class isn't an easy A but if you do your work and actually read the book and take time to understand it you'll get one. Definitely take him, he's one of the best professors ever.
I found him to be a pretty good professor. Definitely one of my favorites at Baruch. I personally prefer written exams rather than multiple choice but he did give a chance for those of us who are not "multiple-choicers" to redeem ourselves. Make sure to inclue your opinion in homework summaries!
He's very smart, very nice if you like philosophy you will love him, if you don't you might find it boring but he's a greattttttt professor
Intimidating intro. to class aside (to weasel out the stragglers, I presume), David is knowledgeable about the subject matter...there were a few times when I felt the material was a bit over my head, but David WILL take the time to elucidate if you have the interest and take the time to ask. It was a hard-earned A- but well worth it!
I don't even know why this is listed under psychology. Its just wrong. Somewhat relevance to psy, but its a phil class. This class gave me more work than 3 of my other classes put together. He is very diligent and hard working. If you are psy minor don't take it you will be miserable. If you are phil minor than good= tons of reading/writing. FUN!..
One of the few true Ivy caliber professors in Baruch. He has encyclopedic knowledge about the materiel and teaches the class with enthusiasm. You will have to write about 20-30 pages for his class which you cannot bs. However, he lets you rewrite papers at the end of semester. Treats his students and their contributions with respect.
Absolutely incredible professor. I've learned more in this one class than I have in my entire college career. Thought-provoking, challenging, and unwaveringly interesting. If every professor displayed his caliber of professionalism, intellect and enthusiasm, the world would be a much better place.
Good professor. He's very passionate about philosophy and will undoubtedly get you really thinking about the topics he covers. One of the books we had to summarize by chapters was a little difficult to understand, but not impossible. As long as you do your work and you participate enough this class will be very enjoyable. PARTICIPATION IS KEY!
I literally died in his class. The workload was more than my 4 other classes combined. However, he was super nice and helpful, at the end of the semester I fell behind on a lot of the assignments and he let me hand them in late. The material was a bit abstract and therefore the papers took a bit of work and elbow grease.
David is by far the most fair, enthusiastic, knowledgeable professor that anyone in Baruch should have the pleasure of having. I wish all my professors in Baruch were like him. I didn't need this class but I only took it because he was teaching it. He makes the subject more appealing. He's not easy but he's simply THE BEST! Take him!
This is NOT the class you can afford to miss a reading in/ not do an assignment. All topics build upon previous topics. Anyway, the content is relatively hard but the professor is really accomodating and articulate! hard-earned B.
This is one professor that makes Baruch worth your time. He is interesting, intelligent, inspiring, enthusiastic and passionate about his field. He is also very fair, respectful, reliable, and open to communication. I enjoyed his class and learned from it more then from any other class I've taken (took him for Fall '10)
Absolutely amazing. Classes always went over time but I never seemed to mind. Subject was extremely interesting. Immensely intelligent. Values effort always willing to help, willing to meet any time of the day. Just a great experience overall.
Hi is a professional teacher and a good and intelligent person! I wish we had more professors like him.
He is a great professor, the class isn't easy but he breaks it down as much as possible. He understands life happens, so as long as you communicate with him and make an effort he wont be a hard ass. Made a boring class entertaining. Definitely the professor you want if you have to take this class.
Definitely One Of The Best Professors that Baruch has to offer. His knowledge level significantly exceeds his field which provide a rich blend between philosophical principles and everyday-life. He keeps you engaged for the entire class session. I recommend that you take this class even if you were never really interested in philosophy at first.
Great professor, his passion for and proficiency with the material shines through in how interesting he keeps the discussion. Lectures are clear and student input is welcome & respected. This is not an easy class if you're looking for filler, but if you're interested in the subject it's well worth your while.
Extremely rude over email - he said I had to write a 500 word essay if I missed class even though I was really sick. He also said this 500 word paper should have only taken me 20 minutes to write?? Also a 1000 word paper was worth only 5 POINTS. The lectures weren't bad but he expected a lot from us. Cool at first but sorry I ended up hating him
He is probably the best professor I have had here at Kent. He is very respectful to students and tries his best to explain very difficult material. Although there is a good amount of homework, it is only to prepare you and make sure you know the material. No exams, just quizzes every other week or so. Great professor!
