This is a good way to get your econ units out of the way. It moves very fast but he tells you exactly what to study for exams. Some of the questions are straight out of the study guide. No homework to turn in.
Three words: Don't do it! It is so tempting to take his class because it is short term but I strongly believe I would've done much better in an econ class that was longer in the semester and shorter in the class length! I've gotten an A in every other class, got a C in his class. It is difficult to prepare for his tests.
His class is difficult because it goes to fast being a short term class. He let you bring a page of notes front and back, and he gives a lot of answers to the test, but still can be hard. In one of the classes I took with him, nobody got an A. B was the highest grade. On the other class them, some people could get A's.
If you cannot handle accelerated classes, don't take his. He only does the 6week thing. However, he tells you pretty much EVERYTHING on the tests. Four tests make your grade. He speaks slow and boring and just goes through the book mostly. Easy class, easy A if you can understand economics. Otherwise, find time to study more. Highly recommended.
Great teacher! One of the best I e had. His poor rating is cause the class is so fast which makes it difficult. The reason that people did poorly in his class is because of the pace not his teaching. He is a great teacher who is always willing to help and will even tells you what is going to be on the exam. He is a real nice guy too. GREAT!!!

He is very dull & boring!! Reads staight out of the book, but the good thing about him is he lets you use a page of notes on the test! Only 4 tests, all multiple choice. Tests are not easy, but easiest Econ teacher @ AR!! If you want to learn about Econ, dont take him! If you want to pass this class the easiest way, HE IS YOUR GUY!!!!
Great Professor...I changed my major to Econ after taking his class...I graduated from UC Davis in Managerial Economics.
His lectures are dry, but if you can sit through the 5 weeks of class it's pretty easy. Your grade is based only on the 4 exams. He tells you exactly what is on the test and lets you have a page of notes. He is a nice guy and will answer your questions.
He's a great teacher. Explains things well and lets u know what is important for the tests. 4 multi-choice tests & u get to use a page of notes. Doesn't collect HW or grade on attendance, but you need to be there, do the problems, and read the book! 5 wk class goes fast, don't get behind. Funny, light-hearted, nice guy. Best choice for Econ!
Allows notes on exams. Clear expectations. No papers to write, & does not collect home- work.
Really nice guy - friendly & helpful w/ students. Doesn't take roll or collect homework. Tells you clearly what is on exams, lets you use notes for exams. Questions are tough but fair (multiple choice). You need to take good notes.
If you want to get your units over with quick, this is the guy for you. Only teaches 6 week classes - you have to stay on top of it or you'll be dead. Exams are Scantron, and he tells you exactly what to study. Over-all a nice guy, friendly.
Knows his stuff, teaches & explains things clearly. Exams are all multiple choice, & you can use notes !!The bummer : you have to buy 2 books, $$$ !! Course is on accelerated timeline : 6 weeks & it's over. Not too hard.
Best Econ professor I have ever had in my life!!! I have taken many econ classes and droped many. This is by far the best econ ever. I might even change my major to econ now. Thanks professor Petersen. Easy tests if you prepare for them. He makes econ logical and applicable. I would take his class everytime if he taught other classes I need.
Great guy! He is always willing to help and wants his students to succeed. The class goes really fast (6 weeks). Those who gave him a bad rating failed because they probably didn't study and expected an easy "A". If you study the material and come to class you will pass with at least a "B"
He was nice. It seems as if he is going to be really boring but than you find out it is not that bad. HE lets you know what you need to know for they test and overall people do just fine.
Wonderful instructor! Always willing to work with students. Basically tells you what you need to know for exams, all you need to do is study what he highlights for the exam. Class goes by quick but you learn what you need to. I would highly recommend taking his class.
gives out extra credit for comming to class, and there is no homework to turn in. dont know what other students saw in him, he is the most boring teacher in 4 years of school. does not teach current events only textbook. not an easy A, really need to put in study time.
Professor Petersen knows what he's talking about & is interested in your success in his class. He is glad to research any question he can't answer off the top of his head & will get back to you with an answer. This class is definitely worth the five weeks of serious study it requires.
Wonderful teacher! Took his first 5 weeks of class, and now taking him again for the next 5 weeks. Would never trade him for another teacher; only if he taught other subjects too. Easy extra credit, freebies during exams, and a whole page of notes!! like he said "don't forget the edges too!" A+++++ teacher!
Mr. Petersen has presented his unique way of teaching this class by stimulating my, and I believe, not only my interest to Macroeconomics, making me to attend each class meeting, and do my best on the exams. The class was short and straight to the point without wasting my pressures time. Thank you so much!
I highly recommend to any student to take Mr. Petersen Class. It is worth your 5 weeks in attending this class. Not easy but learned a lot. He only teach what are the most important things to know about Economics. He is very helpful and genereous to his student. He help student ot succeed on his class. Easy A as long as you put time on studying.
Petersen is a GOOD teacher. He helps you as much as you need, all you have to do is ask. The class is hard! Exams are hard! But you get a pg of notes and theres basically no excuse for getting a bad grade as long as you show up & participate. He's thorough & all conversation is relevent to the class. I liked his class so much I'm taking Econ 304.
I took his econ 302 and 304 and i cannot say anything bad about him!!He is very informed about the subject that he teaches and tries to pass it on to his students. He has three extra credit opportunities which i won't say because then there would not be a suprise and 4 major exams with a page of notes on each exam!!Best econ teacher for sure at ARC!
Great teacher, great class. Thank you so much, Mr. Petersen!
When I found out we could use a cheat sheet on exam days I thought "I got this made" . LOL... was I wrong. This was my first econ class..it was hard..and got my butt kicked! My the stress paid off. I most certainly will take another class with Mr. Petersen!
Great techer look forward to taking his class in the spring.
Great teacher look forward to taking his class in the spring. Amazing teacher. One of the best
This prof. is sooo nice! He spent HOURS of his own time to help me & other students prepare for exams! I tried this course twice before but had to drop. Econ uses math which isn't easy for me. Mr. Petersen made the material clear & helped me succeed. He tells you what to study for tests and you can use a page of notes. Best choice for Econ. :o)
He is what you could ask for in an econ teacher. economics is not the easiest subject to teach.
Great Instructor. He understands the busy life of a student. Give extra credit just for staying to the end of class; also EC for a short essay that could make the difference from B to A. HW is not graded, allows 1 page of notes for each of the 4 exams. He has a great sense of humor(dry-style). I got an A...so can you.
Two words,"As Advertised".He completely understands a students work load.He will give you extra credit for staying til the end of class. He allows a full page of notes for exams. He will tell you everything that you need to know for the exam.No Surprises.Does not grade HW.He provides you every oppurtunity to get an A.He truly cares about you!!!
Three things you must remember about Marco Econ 1) Ben Bernecke, 2)Y=C+I+G+X 3) front/back and don't forget the edges! You will have to take the class to figure out what I am talking about. If you don't get an A you were either kidnapped by Aliens or bought a Art book. He is the best professor I have had..and he always remembered my name! TAKE HIM!
Professor Peterson is a good teacher that understands what it's like to go to college and work fulltime. If you're late, "no big deal" just come when you can. If you come to class you will get an "A" because he basically spells it out for you. If you don't like coming to class then you probably won't do well. Good teacher and nice guy.
Great teacher. If you come to class and do your page of notes before each test. Garanteed A. He is flexible to students schedules. And his stories; though a bit random, break up the class so its not so dull and boring. highly recomend.
This is a semester class taught in 5 weeks. Mr Petersen structures the class so you get the important information to gain a knowledge for the subject and to prepare you for the tests. You get extra credit for staying until the end of class and a page of notes for each test. Plus he tells you stuff that will be on the test.
Mr Petersen structures the class so you get the important information to gain a knowledge for the subject and to prepare you for the tests. You get extra credit just for staying until the end of class and a page of notes for each test. Plus he tells you stuff that will be on the test so you don't put unnecessary stuff on your note page.
Professor Petersen is very kind and patient. He is also quite knowledgeable in his field. You would be doing yourself a great favor by enrolling in his class this summer! Professor Petersen always takes his time to see that every student understand what is being said about Macro. The best part of class were the exams!!! They NOT comprehensive!!!!!
Great teacher - he wants you to learn/understand Econ, not memorize stuff. Made current events in the recession very understandable & relevant to the class material. Fair grader, very clear on expectations, & always ready to help. A truly dedicated prof. who wants students to thrive. A+++ !!!
Most Professors know the subject matter, it's entire different level when you can teach the subject matter. Professor Petersen teaches Economics. The rating for easiness is because he makes it easy. You will understand Econ when you take a class with Prof. Petersen.
Very good teacher. He only teaches the fast-track courses, so he is forced to go fast. But if you keep up with the reading and the homework, the tests are pretty easy. Sometimes, the questions are confusing, but if you re-read them, he is asking very simple questions. And during lectures, he does try to put the terms into real life scenarios.
very clear, has quite a few funny moments, very much into subject, makes econ as interesting as econ can be, the subject sort of limits how fun the class can be, overall a very good teacher for the subject
Mr. Peterson Generally teaches eight or five week courses. He always explains the material that will be on the test. He also always allows you to use a 8x11 piece of paper on the test. Write down everything on your paper. Show up for class because he gives extra credit for attendance which literally is the difference between the next letter grade.
Great class, learned a lot of real-world information relating to the economic crisis and recession. Prof is chill with coming late and attendance. Gives extra credit for staying the whole class so that's a nice incentive. I recommend him as a professor. Did the 5-week course, much nicer than dragging out a course over 3 or 4 months.
He's a great teacher, if you pay attention and go to class you'll do just fine. He gives amazing Extra Credit -it raised my grade from a B to an A. He wants his students to do well and is super nice. I definitely recommend him as a professor.
mr. Petterson is a very nice teacher. If you do not understand what he is teaching he will take time out of his day to help you understand. He is also a very layed back and relaxed teacher who will work with you to obtain your goal.
5 week classes are crazy w/ a lot of material. He tells you whats going to be on the test and lots of extra credit opportunities. Show up to every class and it should be cake!
Mr. Peterson is very good. I took the 5 Weeker, read and prepared myself before class. He tells you what you need to do and all you have to do is pay attention and read the chapters and hand outs before class. If you don't read your text you will be in trouble. Great Professor!!
I had the best class at ARC because of this teacher! He is AWSOME! Other professors should learn from him ON how to teach a class. Took 5wk course, lots to study, you HAVE to read the book. Exams are not easy but he lets you bring a page of notes to exam (front and back). Extra credit avail. Take his class and you will never regret it.
Mr. Petersen is an excellent professor. His knowledge of the subject is beyond excellent. His teaching method is also very unique and effective. He knows what's important in the "real world" and focuses more on those issues. He assiged a book called Freakonomics. I read the book and really enjoyed reading it. Thanks Mr. Petersen! You are the best!
Mr. Peterson is very knowledgeable about the subject and always student friendly and positive. You couldn't ask for a better teacher.
Awesome class and great professor! Great teaching style, extra credit, clear on what material will be on the tests. Mr. Petersen makes it interesting and fun to learn Econ! I highly recommend his 5 week course!!! Never a boring moment! Other professors could learn a lot from his teaching style. Direct and to the point.
Funny guy. I took his 5 week class which isn't offered anymore, but he's a really good teacher with a lot of knowledge of the subject. His tests are all multiple choice, and you're allowed a page of notes on the test. Attendance is only really mandatory for the exams, but he offers a make-up day for anyone who misses one of the exams. Good teacher.
Class was very interesting. I learned a lot and teacher was very helpful. To prepare for the test you are required only to read the text book. No research papers or any additional assignments. Teacher is very student friendly. He also gives extra credits for class attendance. If you want to take and pass ECON, I recommend this teacher.
Honestly, the best prof I've had in my college career. I never got A's until I took both his econ 302 and 304 classes back to back and he said I was one of the highest grades both classes! Clear. Succinct. To the point. Useful. He will not move on unless you "get it" Buy him a 12-pack of Coke to thank him. I wish all teacher's were like him!
I took macro and micro 5 wk classes back to back in spring 2010 and got A's in both classes. Was very helpful and clear in what he expected us to know for the tests. If you want to take econ take it with Mr.P!!
Really good Econ teacher... He is funny, and makes it interesting, gives a lot of easy extra credit.. Defenitley Reccommend him for Macroeconomics..
Highly recommend taking Prof. Petersen's microecon class. You must read the book and understand the concepts very well for his exams. However, the extra credit helps out greatly! He also makes himself available after class and before the exams to answer any questions. He is sweet, friendly and knowledgeable. A+
I like the way Mr. Petersen prepares the questions for exams. One needs to really understand the concept to answer any questions. A real test of knowledge, in my opinion. I highly recommend any one who wants to study ECON-302 or 304. I took both the classed and enjoyed the learning experience.
Mr. Petersen is by far the best professor I've had at ARC. I struggled with Econ but he's very knowledgeable, helpful, and funny. Always willing to go that extra mile to ensure you succeed. I had him for both Macro and Micro Econ and after taking different professors in years past I couldn't recommend any one else. Take him - you won't regret it.
Mr. Petersen is the BEST Prof. I have had @ ARC! Took both Econ 302 & 304, changed my major to Econ because of his classes! Very clear instructions, grading fair & objective, no surprises. He goes over all material on exams before-hand. Lots of extra credit. Always helpful, cares about students succeeding! Great teacher & a nice guy too! A+
Prof. Peterson is one of the funniest and caring professors, and he has excellent dog jokes. He allows one page of notes on tests but as mentioned, he test whether you understand the concepts, not just how well you can copy things from a book. Very knowledgeable in his field. He is very good with names, excellent econ prof, highly recommended!
This instructor is what we call PERFECT!..He is very helpful, funny, and smart. I got an A easily and even though i was NOT interested at Macro-econ AT ALL, i managed to learn A LOT..and i mean: A LOT..He give a lot of extra credit too!
English is not my first language, though i was able to understand everything he taught in class.I highly recommend him who wants to get knowledge from well educated professor. He is not hard at all. Mr. Peterson allows you to have one page of notes during exam. Read the book, take notes in class, and you will be just fine at the end with an "A".
Mr. Petersen seems very difficult at first glance. He is a great guy and an awesome teacher. He is very willing to help you understand things if you don't get them the first time. You have to make sure to ask him for help, he is not psychic but is more than willing to help where it's needed. Make sure you take ALL notes in this class!
Only one word for this Prof: AWSOME! This is not an easy class though, Mr. Petersen is willing to help you master fullly lectures and homeworks. Try your best to do all homeworks and take note. His exams are challengind but interesting too. I highly recommend this funny teacher!
Perhaps the easiest econ class at AR.
The professor is passionate about economics with extensive real world experience. His lectures are designed to simply explain the major concepts in the book, and his test will judge your understanding of the lectures, book, and handouts. Attend all the classes, take notes, read the book and handouts, do the homework, laugh at the corny jokes.
Overall, this class is pretty boring especially when the class is 3 hours long. Gives one point when you attend class everyday and if you read this book, you can gain up to 20 extra book on a 20 point quiz.4 exams, allow one page of notes. Hw is not mandatory but recommended if do.
8 week course. 4 exams. 1 extra credit exam on Freakonomics. extra credit for staying until the end of class everyday. reading the book is a must. professor petersen is super helpful in providing what he wants you to cover (also includes study guides & 1 pg note on exams). no power point or busy work taking notes. just come to class and enjoy :)
Great teacher. He knows his stuff and can break it all down for you in 8 weeks. And the extra credit is there for the taking. I enjoyed his sporatic breaks from teaching to either talk about movies and/or music; which he sometimes would relate to microeconomics. He cracks me up! I really enjoyed his class.
8 weeks went by fast. Good sense of humor, good knowledge of material, sticks to the book so it is easy to follow. I liked his class
Good class, relates material to real world well, 8 wks goes fast, extra credit available, tests on grasp of material, would recommend his class to anybody, likes to tell a joke or two to keep things light
Teacher is very helpful and pleasant to be in class with. He treats you like an adult and makes it clear what is expected. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. Anyone who shows up to class and pays attention should do well. I enjoyed the class.
So I had to take this class because I was one unit short of my 60 units required for transferring. He is one of the easiest professors I have ever taken. He's so adorable and very willing to help with unclear concepts. All exams are multiple choice and you can use a double-sided cheat sheet. Very simple, straightforward, and easy.
Mr. Peterson knows Econ and can make it almost fun! I took BOTH his classes. He is a great teacher who really wants every student to succeed. He was thorough, patient, caring, fair & respectful. Exams aren't easy, but he tells you what you need to know, + you can use a full sheet of notes,2 sides! Lots of extra credit too! Very fair grading .
Dr. Petersen is an awesome and understanding teacher, who is there to make Econ easier to learn in an efficient manner...if you want a good, easy, and interesting Professor, he is the best Professor I've ever had. Hella Easy to pass!!!!!
Great class and extremely nice professor. I enjoyed the class so much I'm thinking of changing my major! Seriously he is great. No homework which is helpful when you have full worklosd and class schedule. He expects you to know NOT MEMORIZE the material but makes it enjoyable to learn. Pay attention in class and take the time to study!
He was a really fun professor. He made a class that normally would make me sleep seem more fun and interesting. It also helped that he started every class with a joke.
Mr. P was extremely helpful and cool. Test were not easy but if you study prior you will have no problem at least getting a B. You will be expected to understand concepts and how the priciples of Macroeconomics are apllied. Not a breeze through class but was a gladly appreciated break from hard knock teachers.Oh yeah hmwk assgigned not collected
Enjoyed his second class as much as his first. It's much harder so make sure you don't miss a day! Really really amazing professor.
I would not recommend this teacher; especially for working adults. No homework, 4 tests, 1 pg notes for exams, and a little extra credit. Tests are based on formulas between ALL scenarios (not in the book). Although you can use notes, using the book will only help you half way through the test. Again full time adults should consider another course.
Class was pretty easy. Allows 1 page notes (front and back) for tests. Extra credit for class attendance and reading of a book. Certain formulas and information are IN CLASS ONLY, so either show up to class or get notes from a classmate. Homework is not mandatory, but some HW questions will be on the test. Starts the class with a joke. Recommended.
For an econ class, this is as good as it gets. Prof Petersen is really straight forward with his expectations. He tells you what you need to know for the exams & allows a pg of notes. There's also a lot of extra credit pts available. You won't do well in this class w/out some effort, but Prof Petersen gives you all the tools you need to do well.
Great class. Even though Econ isn't the most exciting subject, Professor Petersen breaks it down so you can understand it and makes interesting and relatable to real life. Very helpful. Fair grader. Clear expectations. Lots of extra credit. Do your homework, come to class (and listen), ask questions, do the extra credit, and you'll do fine.
Super fair class. I warn you he can be really boring but his class is the best bang for the buck. You get a lot of extra credit and the tests are straight from the HW. You get 1 whole sheet of notes for the tests. I got an A in the class by simply reading the book and doing the HW, nothing else. Highly recommend him over any other Econ prof.
Great professor. Do the HW because it will help ton's with exams. Attend every class to get the extra point extra credit per class. Do the extra credit quiz on the book he assigns. Those points could tip you into the A range at the end. If you attend listen to him read some and participate in class you will get the A and learn a ton! He will help u
Took both Micro/Macro. Amazing professor. Really cares about you understanding the material. Stanford grad whom understands economics and can help you grasp even the most complex concepts. Micro is more difficult due to Math. 3rd & 4th exam will be challenging. Attend all class sessions and complete all extra credit. Study hard/Use note page. A grd
Took both classes ECON 302,304 from professor Petersen. He is best Econ teacher at ARC. Read book, attend class, do homework and you will get an A. Tests are hard, but he allows 1 page of notes. He gives extra credit for attending class. Also he gives 20 extra credit points for reading book that he assigned for extra credit.
I took his macro and then at his encouragement his micro economics class (spring 2013) and I would highly recommend this professor, he is super easy going and really wants his students to succeed, I thought his classes were easy but if you ever had any trouble he is very approachable and willing to help you understand the material.
Prof Petersen is a good teacher. This is a night class so it's pretty convenient for those w/ families or a fulltime job. 8 weeks is a good amount of time to cover the basics of 302. overall, good class... take it! Notes on every exam + lots of EC
Over all this class is somewhat easy if you do your part in studying. Profesor Peterson makes this class interesting. Attened the class, read the textbook and do the hmwk. You will get a good grade. Also if you stay for the whole class period he gives you extra credit. Also a page of notes are allowed on exams. Easy going and fun professor.
Interesting and helpful class. You can get a good grade by doing homework's and paying attention in a class. If you don't understand something ask him, he is always ready to help you clarify the topic.
Interesting class and Pr. Petersen makes it easier to understand. He was extremely helpful throuhgout the course. Text books are mandatory. Overall he is kind, funny and helpfull. Doesnt check the homework but if you wont do homework you wont be able to succeed. I reccomend this professor, you you wont be disappointed.
Great teacher. Tests are hard. He doesn't collect homework but to pass exams, you should do the homework. Many questions from homework are on exams Starts every lecture with a joke. Allows a page of notes for exams. He is very helpful and funny. Provides you with thorough study guide. Highly recommend him.
Professor drifts off topic quite a bit during the course. Overall funny, and the class was fun. 8 week course, extra credit, homework is not graded, 1-page of notes on exam, must pass exams to pass class I highly recommend the study guide!! Take this class with MR PETERSEN, you won't regret it!
I love this professor!! He starts every class with a joke and is an all around nice man. He is very helpful and goes above and beyond to make sure that you understand. If you don't understand something, just ask! He will do whatever he can to help you. Very nice and very knowledgeable!! Take his class!!
You never regret if taking his class. Easy get A, read carefully the chapter and come to class to take note for exam.1. has 4-exam only, 2.it has homework but not graded, he go over it and some questions are included on the exam. 3. 1page of notes for exam. 4. extra credit(optional), including attendance and one quiz from reading another book.
Best teacher I've had at ARC ! Took both his classes, Macro & Micro - both very interesting & worthwhile. Prof. Petersen is very helpful, knows Econ inside & out, and helps you succeed. No talking down to students, no B.S., and no busy-work to do! Treats students as adults, and really cares if you learn.Other teachers could learn a lot from him!
Take him for Macro and Micro in the 8wk classes. He basically reads from the text book and gives extra instruction when he gets a whim. Class is not mandatory but he gives extra credit for staying til the end of class. Study hard for the 4 exams, they're basically your whole grade! The study guide is essential!!
Mr. Peterson is a very kind and caring gentleman with years of real world experience, refreshing! He only gives four tests that account for your entire grade but, he allows for a page of notes on each test. You can earn extra credit for attending class and taking an optional test. If you show up, take notes and ask questions you'll do well.
Prof. Peterson is a big fan of Milton Friedman and is conservative. You get a new joke every night, and his Hawaiian shirts are too much! Not a lot of work required in his class. Just read the book, do HW (not collected) & take good notes. Extra credit is available; 4 exams = your grade. (Notes allowed on exams too!) Friendly, helpful.
Professor Petersen is really sweet and he genuinely cares about his students. 8 weeks goes by very quickly but is enough time to learn the material. He tells you exactly what to expect on exams, however, knowing the definition of the terms is merely enough... you must read the textbook to fully grasp the concepts and be successful on the exams.
Mr. Peterson is a very kind & caring gentleman with years of real world experience. He gives four tests that account for your entire grade but, he allows for a page of notes on each test. All you have to do is take notes and ask questions you'll do well. After taking both of his classes I'll miss spending my TuesThurs evenings with him.
Mr. Petersen is one of the greatest. He explains the hardest of material in a way that it becomes easy as kindergarten. Highly recommended. One of the best professors I ever had.
He knows his stuff. He's clear & concise as to what you need to know & what you can skip. 4 tests with a page of notes allowed. He goes over the test in generic terms during the review so you know what to study. He offers easy extra credit. If you read the book you will pass. He wants you to learn, not memorize. If you need Econ take this Prof.
If you read the book your good to go. He tells you all the information you need to know to pass his tests and offers enough extra credit to boost your grade if you "forgot to study" for a test one time. Basically show up and don't be an idiot and you'll do well. He also tells a joke at the beginning of every class which is fun.
You have to have the book to do well. He teaches straight from the book so read it and you know everything. He tells you all the information you need to know to pass his tests and offers enough extra credit to boost your grade if you "forgot to study" for a test one time. He also tells a joke at the beginning of every class which is fun.
If you do everything Professor Peterson assigns, you'll do well in the class.
Cool teacher, gives extra credit for staying whole class period. His lectures can be lengthy and he talks pretty quietly. He tells you everything that is going to be on the test but make sure you know how to answer the questions as the wording can be confusing. Plus he's probably the only Econ teacher that lets you use a page of notes on the tests.
He speaks like you can barely hear it. He is a kind and caring but not so great on teaching. Sitting while lecturing. Just talk through the textbook page by page. Didn't explain clearly. Self-taught. Be in class until the end got extra credit. If you expect to learn something from the lecture and be good to take the test, this is not the class.
Explains concepts very clearly, & is available for questions during & after class. Exams are MC , so grading is very objective. Exams are not easy, but 1 page of notes for each test is OK, and he previews materiel before exam day. No surprises w Prof. Peterson. "Lectures are Long" because it's 8-week class, 3 hrs. night. Freindly .
Prof. Petersen speaks quietly because of a medical issue, but that's the only thing I could imagine ever being a problem with him. He's extremely clear on what he's teaching. He gives assignments that help you on the test. He allows you to use a page of notes on the test. Really great instructor.
Tests are not hard if you go to class, take good note &study the study guide, following closely to the study guide & make one page good note 4 the exam, easy A if you put some effort to this class. Prof is very nice, I would take him again &again if i could for all my classes. One down side in this class, he talks slow with low voice.
His class follows exactly like his LAWS (Learn, not memorize! Accelerated; Work smarter, not harder; Student friendly). His tests are not too hard if you really study and understand the material.
Professor Petersen made Econ pretty great. His class is pretty simple and is set up so you can learn the importance of Micro Econ in the real world and get a decent grade. You do need to show up because some test questions will be on what is only discussed during class. You also get extra credit for class attendance.
Prof Peterson gives you every opportunity to succeed in the class. He stays late, answer any question, and although his credentials are very impressive, is not full of himself. He teaches at the students level. I enjoyed Macro and Micro and would take classes taught by him again. Thanks Professor for a great semester. Extra credit for attendance
Great professor. Very easy-going. Put in some effort and you can get an A without problems.
He is seriously an amazing teacher I'm now taking my second semester with him and I couldn't be happier he's clear and thorough on the information that is necessary and needed to study and use for the course.
Everything professor Peterson does is for the success of the students. He goes over every test in detail the class before the exams and offers a lot of extra credit at the end of the class. Even if his lectures are a little vague, you are very likely to do well in his class.
Very good teacher. helpful and knowledgeable. Just read and study and will pass easily
Prof. Petersen is a great teacher. I love his sense of humor and his life experience lessons. He stands for students, not against them and helps a lot. You will have an option to have an extra credit, he choose interesting, bestselling books about economics and you will have multiple choice test on it, and it can drop up your grades very easy.
Professor Petersen gives his students all of the tools needed to succeed. If you don't, its on you. Show up, take notes, do the homework and study for the tests. Do not think tests will be easy because of the page of notes allowed. The tests are tough! He takes role at the end of every class. That should change, takes way too long.
Professor Peterson is a dedicated, caring, and committed as a teacher. I can tell he takes pride in being effective as teaching. I especially appreciate the fact that he is so interesting and knows how to motivate student to learn, to think for ourselves, and to thrive. Most students express our gratitude and respectful of him. Thank you.
Professor Peterson is a great professor. He is always willing to help you. In his exams, he includes questions from study guide. He gives you credit for showing up in the class. He doesn't let you get bore.
This class isnt as easy as I thought it would be. He just reads from the book and this isnt a class were yrs of memorization will save u , u really need to understand whats going on. Im an A student and im struggling. Warning for impatient people, moves very slow, discusses fast and easily distracted
He is really qualified went to Stanford ect Im just really disheartened that as a student who gets As in every class I got a B in 302 &C in 304 and this was I class I was genuinely interested in No idea where i went wrong, handful of students did well some didnt I guess some get the concepts some dont Idk if UCLA will take me, take at ur own risk!
I took him for both 301 and 302. Both 8 week classes. I dont know if it was just me but the material is hard. All he does is read from book for lectures. Doesnt really explain things to clearly.
Petersen is an amazing prof, truly cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He is honestly the kindest prof i have had. The lectures are very boring yes, but get through it and take notes and you will do well. You can get an A in this class without problem, just put in the work.
Mr. Petersen likes to start the class off with a joke and wants you to succeed. Your grade is determined solely by exams. There is homework but it's not turned in or graded. The exams are difficult and test that you know how to apply the concepts. If you study and take the time to understand the material it's completely possible to pass the class.
Mr. Petersen is a great professor and wants all his students to succeed. Yes lecture is long, but it's an 8 week class, what do you expect? The grades are solely based off 4 exams, first 3 exams he allows 1 page of notes and for the final it's open book, but you still need to study to do well. He does offer extra credit too. Definitely recommend.
Yes the lectures for this class are long and last he full time, however, if you show up to class each time, take notes and do the necessary reading, you are bound to pass. Professor Peterson is very helpful and is more than willing to answer any questions you have, even on the exam. There is no graded hw or quizzes, just the exams and extra credit.
I had Peterson for both ECON302 & 304. The homework isn't graded. Your entire grade consists of exams and they are not easy. He tests to make sure you truly grasp the material. You are allowed 1 page of handwritten notes. It requires some work but an A is possible. Class is only 8 weeks long rather than 16. Nice guy. Starts class with a joke.
Mr. Petersen is a really knowledgeable teacher. He has had years and years of experience in bank and investment industry. He has a refreshing sense of humor and provides the class a daily joke. The exams are logical. Pay attention, take notes, read the textbook and you will do well. As he stated on day one he doesn't give grades. We earn them.
Professor Petersen was an outstanding professor, he is very knowledgeable and very clear on what makes up your grade in the class. He hands out many sheets throughout lectures and discussions are frequent and usually on the test. So pay attention to the discussions and to review the handouts in addition to the textbook when prepping for exams!
Prof Petersen is extremely knowledgeable in his subject matter. Takes his time to explain and ensure that we comprehend the material. If you attend the classes and pay close attention to his lecture, you'll get the material.
