he reads everything into a microphone. u have four little projects and two tests the entire semester. as long as u go to class u will do fine.
great class! the professor is a great guy whos always willing to help. take him!
If you need to take an art class for GE, take this class! The professor is intelligent, you'll learn quite a bit, but the class is not hard at all if you have a working brain.
easy A and a funny professor dats all there is to say
I had this class at 7 a.m. Monday mornings and this was the perfect class for that time. He's really cool.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is seriously THEE best. He always lets you out early, his term projects are fun, and he grades really easy! You will get an A forsure :) have fun!
Awesome professor! easy class. Print out study guides before class, take notes, and you are golden. There is a sign in sheet. Exams are multiple choice based from the study guides and artwork he goes over in class. Simple assignments that can be done in advance except for the movie based assignments. Overall great GE class.
The class was very basic. Good if you know very little about art, this was not the case for me so it was sometimes boring. Overall good teacher and good class.
David is so nice and such a chill professor! He's a funny guy and makes lectures easy to follow and somewhat interesting! attendance and note taking is a must which can suck sometimes but i recommend taking him over anyone. Really liked him and the class for not being an art person. :)
Dave is HILARIOUS. He is super chill and he makes me laugh out loud at least once every lecture. Term projects are fun and easy. His midterms are a breeze if you pay attention in class and review the notes. Take him! This was my favorite class this semester and I learned a lot.
I recommend taking his class. His lectures are interesting enough to keep me awake, but still can be dull at times. He shows 3 movies, which are all very entertaining. His tests are everything he lectures about. Also, the assignments and papers are pretty straightforward. Make sure you look ARTFULLY when writing the papers.
I love Dave!! Take him, he is the best! His class is fun, and wayyy better than other art teachers at CSUF, from what I've heard. His lectures are always funny too, he's a great teacher!
Simply a must for any Art 101 student. He is funny, and the class are super easy. The best thing is that you can turn in assignments late even though he always says no late accepted lol. Take this class for good time and easy A.
This is one cool dude. He craacks jokes all the time. He does check attendance. He gives a study guide for each lecture. He shows movies every 3 or 4 weeks. He gives 8 small projects instead of 1 big one. He goes over all the study guides the class before the midterm/final. Easy A.
Dave is awesome!! He is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is so easy going, and he will let you turn in assignments in late if you email him saying you're busy. The tests are super easy if you go to the class session before the test, he will review everything. I would take Dave again. Don't even consider taking another professor!
His lectures are awesome! He is also funny and he is not boring. His class is easy to pass if you just show up to class and do the work. There is no homework and no readings to do. You can pass this class with an A without the textbook..just show up to class! AWESOME TEACHER !
Extremely easy, does not require much effort to pass, easy grader and fun to listen to. Do the term projects because they do add up, but he is very leinent on due dates and tends to push them back a lot. Study guides are online for everything and he basically tells you exactly what is on the midterm/final. Perfect easy "A" class; definitely take it
I loved this class! Such a nice professor and SUPER understanding. Attendance is not "mandatory" but you do get points if you show up at the end of the semester. The textbook was never opened, so i suggest dont get it!!!! there are term projects which are fun and easy and 1 midterm and 1 final, easy class! He is funny and you always get out early.
Great teacher! He is super easy and really laidback. I love this class because it was such an easy A. Super easy projects. Overall great easy A for Art 101.
Dave is a great art professor. He keeps his class interesting and straight-forward. From what I've heard about other art professors, he is definitely the best.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Don't buy the book, just use the study guides he makes and take notes on them. The exams were easy and the homework was even more easy. Awesome professor.
Easy grader and funny! There are more essays for this class than there are actual drawing/art assignments. Print out the study guides, they will help you a lot. Don't need the book. He takes attendance. Good class, I'd recommend it.
Awesome class. I learned so much, even more than I expected. Easy A. Attend every lecture, it is necessary in order to do well on the midterm and final.
Great professor! Very funny and chill. Class was fun, interesting, and straight forward. All of his projects and movies are all great. Didn't really use a textbook. Just print his study guides and attend class and you'll be fine.
Really easy class. You just need to take notes on outlines he has already made. And he lets you out early every day. The exams (2) are straight from the notes.
He is so nice. He gives a lot of easy assignments so there is a chance to improve your grade.
Fun and easy class. Not a lot of reading - just pay attention in class and make notes. He does a review before tests, so there should be no reason to fail.
Dave's a really cool/funny professor. He had weekly art projects which were fun to do. You could get Cs on both the midterm and the final and still get a B in the class if you get As on all of the projects. Textbook not required. Take him if you want a better perspective of art and if you like getting out of class early!
Amazing teacher, very helpful. Makes class fun! I recommend him to anyone.
Funny and very helpful. He makes the class so easy.
There is a midterm, final a 1 pg paper, and fun easy projects. Although ppl say it's an easy class, study for the final and midterm cause the test can be tricky. Must attend class.
I LOVE THIS MAN. there are small projects due about every week but they're super easy and you basically get full points as long as you try. other than that, i think there was just a midterm and test and they're a bit tricky, but if you do all the projects, you can still get an A. sign in attendance every day is the only negative. TAKE HIM!
Super easy class! He gives study guides with terms and goes over all of them in class. Take good notes while he explains each term because that's exactly what's going to be on the exam. It's ok if you cant draw because projects (every other week) were super easy and fun. I got 100% on all of them! We didn't even use the book. TAKE HIM!!
He is the greatest teacher at CSUF, he seriously makes class enjoyable yet teaches you a lot about art. The other art 101 teachers at our school focus on making you write papers which we honestly get nothing out of. He is hands on. He is hilarious and he just gets us. He is extremely fair. GO TO CLASS his tests are word for word what he says.
Dave is awesome! He's really funny and manages to keep an 8AM class awake. His projects are really fun, I didn't really feel like I was doing them for class, but for fun! His exams are multiple choice, and he takes questions out if he makes mistakes. Very informative and passionate about art. The movies are good too!
Dave is the best! Seriously so understanding and cares about his students. His tests are directly from the notes and if you just attend class you can easily get an A. He's such a great teacher!
He is so funny! :D We had projects which were really fun and easy to do! His tests were based off the notes we took in class and he didn't require a book! But we did have to buy paint supplies, which weren't that expensive! Sometimes lecture were boring, but we would also watch movies(documentaries) which were interesting! Great teacher! :D
Book is not required. Attendance is (sign up sheet), but I got an A and missed a good three weeks of class. Tests are nearly 100% lecture based, so if you go every day, theres no way to not get an A. Easy art projects, gives you full credit for trying. Doesn't do +/- grading.
The class is easy B. To get A, you should have a good note and study well for exams. There are one midterm "20%" and one final"30%" and it is not too complicated, but it is multi choices, so try to study well to get a good score. The class overall is fun and good.
Dnt need textbook. Cool professor and makes class interesting. Art projects were easy and fun. Midterm and exams are based on lectures so take good notes. Attendance mandatory so if you go everyday than you should be guarentee an A.
BEST PROFESSOR! The art projects are super easy and the midterm and final are easy as well. Go to all the lectures and you won't need to study. I went to all the lectures and I didn't study I got a B on both midterm and final. Don't get the textbook, you won't need it at all.
Dave is such a great professor. His class is beyond easy and quite fun. Projects are easy and enjoyable. Don't have to be a great artist in order to do well in his class. Attendance is mandatory, you need to go to class in order to do well on the midterm and final. His exams are based on his lectures. Super easy class.
Dave was hands down my favorite professor of my first semester. He was so funny and kept everything interesting. Pay attention to his lectures and show up for class and you will pass with an A guaranteed. He does not expect much from his 101 class. He made my early morning class enjoyable, he was just the most incredible teacher ever.
Best professor ever. Such an easy class, no textbook use, be sure to print out the study guides as it makes his exams way easier. But they're easy as hell anyway so yeah. He's a really funny guy, very lenient on his policies, his projects are fun and he makes you go to a museum of your choice and it's fun. Take this class.
Awesome professor. He knows how to keep the class entertaining. We didn't really have to use the book though but make sure you print out all of the study guides because the notes are important and his tests are largely made up of questions relating to what are on the study guides and movies he shows. His projects are easy and fun. Highly reccommend
Class can get quite boring sometimes but he tries to make it more enjoyable. Really nice and funny. Easy A, just make sure you attend class since it's mandatory and fill out the study guides he gives.
David was an amazing professor. Funny dude and managed to keep the class's attention. Projects were easy, Midterm and final were straight forward and were from his study guides. Really recommend his class.
Wonderful teacher, just attend class. He's easy to talk to and really cute.
The most interesting & fun class of my semester. No prior experience in art to succeed in this class. The reviews were dead on - great lectures, interesting subject matter and a relatively easy course if you put in some effort. 2 extra credit assignments, 2 exams (kinda hard) and 1 short essay + art project. Highly recommend!
He is interesting, funny and helpful. Loved his class and he was very informative and used information out of the textbooks. Best professor I have had.
One of the coolest professors ever! Big class so you can have a friend sign you in if you can't make it. You don't really need the book, just study the key terms and study guide he gives you. Also pay attention to the movies/videos he shows you! Very entertaining when lecturing sometimes!
David is an awesome professor. He's hilarious and interesting to listen to, definitely not one of those professors that make you want to sleep. There were weekly art projects and honestly they're time-consuming, but rather easy, so don't do it 2 hours before class. Ran into him a year after having him and he remembered me. A very chill dude.
DO NOT BUY THE TEXT BOOK you do not need it, I never took mine out of the packaging. Other than that, Dave is a GREAT teacher. He keeps the class interested and plays really interesting movies. I definitely recommend this class!!!
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! He is seriously the coolest teacher at csuf and his class is an easy A. You don't even need the textbook because he tells you everything you need to know for the exams. As long as you complete hw and do well on the tests, you will get an A. Take him!!
Just a midterm and a final for Art 101. Best professor ever. Easiest projects easiest tests (if u pay attention in class). If your bad at drawing it doesnt matter take this class.
David was one of my favorite professors! He is seriously hilarious and always cracks jokes in his lectures. You do NOT need the book. Just print out the study guides and follow along with his power points, he tells you exactly what will be on the test. His projects are super easy and he is very lenient. His power points are interesting :)
Best teacher ever. If you want an easy introductions to art class under the "C1" category then I recommend this class. You DO NOT need the book. He gives you study guides that you could print out. 1 midterm 1 final, however there are projects. The projects are an easy A! Attend class because there is a sign in sheet.
If you get a C or lower in this class, there is no hope for you whatsoever. Easiest class you will ever take as he provides all test answers in the lectures and review day. A lot of fun art Projects in comparison to the other art classes. Must take course!
SUPER EASY CLASS. Everything he discusses in lecture will be on the tests, he just has a midterm and final. There are some mini projects but they're super easy. He's funny as hell and makes the class really interesting!
Professor Dave is super funny professor but he is so strict and tough grader. he have 5 drawing projects and 2 essays they are super easy assignments DO THEM AND GET 40%. and he have a 150 on midterm and a 150 on final and 25 on attendance. its a Easy C class. take it and try to get an A. I failed in his class because i wasn't attending
One of the best teachers I've ever had! Only a midterm and a final. Easy & very fun little projects with drawing and painting. Even has wkshts with the terms that you can print and take notes on. Need to attend to pass. The 2 tests were SUPER easy, based all on what he goes over in class. Have to visit an art museum which was really interesting.
the first class i took here at CSUF and it was the best chose. His policy was basically show up take notes and do well in the tests. This Class was an easy class, not because of the low effort but because he made the material easy to understand and remember. i Highly recommend him
Plouffe is an amazing instructor. His lectures are fun, he is engaged, and jokes around a lot. He gives funny side stories about the art or artists which helps in remembering who the artist is. His tests are easy. All you have to do is pay attention in class and during the test review he gives before. Easy A!
Mr. David Plouffe is an amazing person His projects are very easy HE is very organized Take his morning class 2 exams (midterm, final)(75 questions each) You don't need the book at all Somewhat funny He is going to say his exams are easy But they are long and hard Always go to class It will help you (just sit there)
Dave is so cool, he makes my 9 a.m less dreadful! His class is pretty easy, if you attend lecture and do all your projects (7 projects total, very easy!) and study for the midterm and finals (again, very easy) He's very insightful and pretty hilarious, take him if you can! BTW, you don't need the textbook, so don't bother buying it.
Easy class with a fun professor. There is a mid-term and a final that are not hard if you study your notes. He assigns several relatively simple and interesting projects throughout the semester. The class also had two, small writing assignments. Professor doesn't put power points online, so you have to show up for notes. Overall easy A.
Print out the weekly notes and follow along with him + complete the easy preassembled projects that you buy from the nearby artstore and you have an easy A. No homework, just a midterm, final, and like I mentioned, preassembled projects purchased specifically from his class from the nearby artstore for $34. Super easy + interesting! Takes roll
Dave is an awesome teacher. His lectures aren't too long and he makes them fun. He has a few projects that are really easy, and his criteria is clear. he is strict on attendance and will fail you if you skip his class
HE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER!! His lectures are super interesting. Hilarious super nice super easy midterm. Lets you know what you need to know for midterm and final. Overall amazing teacher would definitely take his class again! Only took it for GE credit and ended up being the only class i actually enjoyed. TAKE HIS CLASS YOU WOULDN'T REGRET IT.
Professor David is amazing! He makes all of his lectures interesting and fun. He has about 6 projects throughout the semester as well as 2 exams, both of which are super easy. If you show up to class and pay attention he will literally tell you what you need to know for the exams. I would definitely take this class again.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He is so funny and is really easy to talk to. I took an 8am and he made my mornings not so terrible. Lots of projects but they're small & fun. One midterm & a final that are extremely easy! He points out what will be on the test in his power points. PS don't buy the textbook
Hilarious professor! Made learning about art a really fun experience. Grade consists of art projects (EASY), midterm, and final. He provides study guides you can print out and take notes on. The big exams (mult. choice) are easy if you study! You don't need to buy the book... He goes over every thing w/ his ppt. Takes attendance daily!
AMAZING PROF! I had him for a 8am class and I didn't mind waking up early to go to his lectures. He's hilarious & makes all his lecturers interesting. There's one midterm and a final. But super easy b/c in his lectures he goes over everything. there's a few projects but super easy!! Don't need the book, I bought it but didn't touch it once.
Dave is all one could ever want in a professor, easy going, concise, and an easy grader. A lot of his written assignments are based basically on just doing the assignment right structurally. He cracks a lot of jokes, has some videos involved, and likes to end class early for the most part. His tests are directly from his lecture.
I took this as a first-semester freshman, and it was the most amazing class! I enrolled in the 8 am class and it was located in the VA building, but the professor made it worth getting up at 5 am in order to get to school on time. The projects and tests (midterm & final only) are also really easy! You would have to try REALLY hard to fail his class
Definitely more interested in art after taking his class. 1 project and 2 tests. If you come to class the test should be no problem. Take notes.
Easily the coolest teacher I've ever had, easy projects and is fair with them. Doesn't take attendance but most of the material on the exams come from his lectures.
Professor is very likable and funny. We had a couple projects, a midterm and final. He does not take attendance, but everything he mentions during his lectures will most likely be on the test. He has study guides for the topics covered every week which you can take to class and take notes on so you can later study off of them for the exam.
This professor is AMAZING. He is SO funny and very likeable. I honestly never opened the book once and NEVER STUDIED ONCE. His lectures were that enjoyable that i literally didn't have to study for any exam and passed with an A+. SOOO easy!!! and very enjoyable people!!!
Grade is based on projects with VERY clear guidelines and on mid term and final. Final is non cumulative! Overall easy class if you can read and follow directions. His lectures are funny and entertaining! Overall great professor.
Dave is HILARIOUS! It's your decision if you want to come to class or not, but I would recommend going because he is worth the time. His lectures are clear, his exams are easy and his projects are fun. Painting and drawing here and there and he's understandable when it comes to homework. Take his class, you wont regret it.
He's such a cool professor and his class is literally super easy! All you have to do is show up for class and you'll be ready to take the midterm and final. The final is not cumulative. There are also art projects he makes you do but they're not difficult and he's not a tough grader.
Take this class! Dave is such a hilarious professor and makes his lectures come to life. I took his class at 8 am and he made it so worth it. Easy projects throughout the semester and only a midterm and final to study for. If you show up and take notes you'll do fine. Definitely happy I took this course.
I had him for University 100 not Art but if your an incoming Freshman and have him for University 100 your in luck. He is a great professor who will help you succeed and gives you resource tools that will help you as you continue to study. Easy and fun class.
Dave is AMAZING! He's so hilarious and makes art a lot more interesting and manageable than what it actually is. As far as tests, there is only a midterm and a final (NON-cumulative (: !!) There are also 6 projects that he grades super fair (since he understands its just a GE class and not a major class). Definitely worth taking his class! TAKE!!!
Professor is one of the best at CSUF. You have 6 very easy projects, 1 Midterm, and 1 Final. Tests are straight from the lecture notes. He's very funny and his lectures are interesting. His class was really enjoyable. Don't need the textbook and no extra credit. Attendance counts for points. Defintely take him for Art 101.
This guy was great. Made boring old art stuff fun and interesting. SUPER easy homework thats fun and easy to do. Just show up, listen, and you'll get an A. He's funny, so you won't die of boredom.
Very easy class but he is pretty bad at writing exams, I had an A but dropped to a B because he asked questions like "which one of these artist has your teacher met" or "which of these places has your teacher been to" idk what that has to do with art but he is an easy grader with projects and they are not hard
One of my favorite teachers. This is a art class but you dont need to be an expert drawer/painter/artist. Assigns 4 painting projects, 1 photography project, and one 1-pg essay. All assignments are easy. There're also 2 exams(midterm&final). Exams are easy as long as you take good notes from his powerpoint & study. Do not buy textbook never used it
I took him for Art 101 my freshman year. The class was extremely easy, and you learned a lot of neat things. There are some art projects and you will need actual art supplies to do them, I believe there are 7 or so in total, not very hard either. Exams are easy if you look over your notes and remember key points. Great lectures as well!
Really easy and actually a pretty interesting class. Was never into art but Dave makes it fun. Hw is art projects where if you follow the directions you should get an A. Def recommend. You won't regret it
Dave is just great. I was very hesitant on taking this class, but it is by far the best class I've ever taken. His lectures are structured so well it's amazing. He assigns projects often, nothing difficult a non-art major can't do. He gives demos as well as providing a rubric for them. The midterm was a breeze. Make sure you go to class.
I came in this class expecting an easy A, however I realized that this wasnt the case after the first month. In general, Dave is a great guy and has very clear instructions to what he expects from you. His tests were extremely detailed based on the lectures, so get the book if you tend to zone out during class!! His book has most of the test ques
Professor Plouffe is chill and funny. Show up to class and participate. If you have more than 3 absences, he will drop you grade letter by one. So an A- to a B+ or B-? Anyways, TAKE HIS CLASS!! HE IS AN EASY A. TRUST ME!
Dave is nice and his lectures are very interesting. The only reason I did not give him a 5 is because his tests are extremely difficult, especially for an Art 101 class. His tests are so specific and are not main topics covered on the study guide. Make sure you attend class.
Dave, overall is a great professor. This is definitely not an easy A class, but more like an easy B. 40% of the points are earned from projects and attendance, while the other 60% are earned from 2 exams. 80% of the exam questions are based on lectures, while 20% are basically hit or miss. Study guides are not provided.
He is the worst professor His exams are very difficult He is soooo rude
Super funny guy! Don't need the textbook if you show up to class and take good notes! First half of the semester were art projects and the second half were small writing assignments. Got to watch a few movies in class. Only tests were a mid-term & a final which are super easy and multiple choice. The tests correlated to the lectures. Easy A!!
He's probably one of the best professors at CSU Fullerton. I'm so glad I took ART 101 with him. He's funny and he knows how to teach his students. His lectures are very interesting too. Just print out the study guides and take notes during lectures. There's a lot to know for the midterms and finals, so studying/memorizing is important.
Great professor! If you're going to take art 101, you definitely want this guy! Lectures can be a drag but he tries his best to make them as entertaining as possible. Cracks jokes here and there. 6 very simple projects that take little-to-no skill. 1 midterm and 1 final which I highly recommending studying for. Not too difficult but lots of info!
David Plouffe was hilarious! His midterm was difficult but his final was easy. You have projects throughout the semester that you need to do to get a good grade in his class. He goes through the lectures fast so it is hard to write whatever you need down, but the book has all of his lecture notes.
You don't need a textbook, just attend the lectures you'll need to buy an art kit for the projects. His projects are easy and he grades fairly. There is only a midterm and a final. If you pay attention in lecture I feel that you don't need to study for the exams.
Plouffe is a hilarious professor. I didn't choose to buy his textbook so I had to take notes at the speed of lightning and attend every lecture. If you have his textbook, everything is on there. I would still recommend going to class. Lots of information and study hard for the tests. Not cumulative but lots of notes! 6 projects: last 2 are written.
He makes art history fun! His class is fairly easy, as long as you do well on exams and do all art projects. You will have to buy a art supply pack for the class with all the things needed for the class. They will be available at the titan shop, which makes it very accessible. I really enjoyed doing all the projects! Those were my fav!
Definitely a great professor to take for Art 101. You don't really need the textbook if you attend his lectures and take notes. Only homework are the projects which are 6 total, but they are super easy and fun to do. No quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final. The exams aren't hard if you study some of the terms and pictures the day before.
Great teacher and great class. The material was easy to understand when paying attention during lectures and the tests were fair.
This class was one of the most memorable classes I have ever taken. Who knew art would be enjoyable to learn about? His projects were fun to do, and he's very funny so you won't be bored. He doesn't take attendance, but I'd recommend to go to all the lectures since it's important for the exams. I'd take this class. You won't regret it.
TAKE HIM! he's a funny guy and overall it's an easy A. Just attend his lectures because everything he goes over is on the tests (2), you'll enjoy art if you take him! 10/10 recommend
Took Plouffe's 8am class. Definitely not a morning or art person, but his class was enjoyable. If you have the opportunity to take him, do it. Very easy class IF you go to his class and take simple notes. 6 easy projects, a midterm, and a final. Plouffe is a cool dude and I learned a lot in his class. Highly recommend for an easy GE requirement.
I loved this professor, he's super funny and makes class interesting. Most of it is lecture and knowing definitions. There are 6 projects and they're fun and easy. 1 midterm and 1 final in which he makes everything clear for and is pretty easy if you show up to class. I would definitely take this class again
Dave is the best and makes an effort to know your name.
Dave is the best! He genuinely cares about his students and always makes the effort to get to know you better. He has a great sense of humor and I can't imagine anyone leaving his class without laughing at least once. His class made my first semester at college a lot easier, and he actually made an 8:30 AM worth it.
Dave is so kind and he was the best thing about this class. The lectures were dull from time to time, but he made them more entertaining with his energy. He learned all his students' names and included all of them in discussions. There are a few miniature assignments here and there, but as long as you take them seriously, this class is an easy A!
Awesome class! Mainly lectures, as long as you know definitions youll be good. 6 projects that are easy, 1 midterm, 1 final. Hes hilarious and makes the lectures funny! You wont regret taking this class.
He was the best. Periodt.
He is super funny and really tries to make class interesting. There are mini projects that are actually fun to do and isn't really hard. He does lecture, but it is very easy to follow along.
Amazing professor. Easiest class ever! Only four drawing projects and two one page DOUBLE SPACED essays plus midterm and final. I never showed up to class, only to turn in my projects!
4 art projects that you need to buy supplies for, 2 writing projects- all pretty easy to do and he explains them in class before assigning them. only a midterm and final exam. the final exam had a essay portion worth 20 points from a movie watched in class. come to class for the lectures because the 2 exams are based on them!!
6 projects. 2 of them are easy 1 page essays. Plouffe is an easy grader. All you need for his class is his textbook and an art kit you are required to buy. 2 exams, based on his lecture/textbook. He was a good professor and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. 2nd exam more difficult than the first b/c of the content. Take him for an A
Dave is a great professor. He is very chill and easy going. Just study for his exams from the textbooks and you'll be fine.
Despite being a charismatic art teacher, he forces you to buy his book in preparation for his final. These finals ask very specific questions NOT MEANT FOR ART 101. Don't take this professor but if you do get ready to listen every class and read every day.
David made my first semester of college just much more bearable. He is very funny which made his lectures easy to listen to. I personally did not use the book. Everything that is in the book he goes over in class with his lectures. As long as you listen and take good notes you should be perfectly fine. He also offers study guides online. Take him!
His lectures are entertaining and he gave me extra time to finish my paper during a really tough week. Wish I could take him again.
Dave was a great professor! He makes art quite interesting. You do not need to buy the textbook!! All of the study guides are online. The projects are fun to do, but make sure to study for exams.
By far the best professor I have had!!! Makes the class interesting and fun to understand with his humor. Definitely recommend him !
Plouffe was a cool professor! Would definitely take again. Helps the transition to becoming a freshman cool. Projects are not hard at all! I was not great at art, but I did well. Midterm and final are based on lecture content. Better to show up to lecture because he talks about images that will be on the test that are not in the book.
Great professor! He was very enthusiastic about what he was teaching and it made class entertaining. The midterm and final were rather hard but if you show up to class and do all the projects you will definitely pass. Take him!
He was really cool straight forward. Accepts late work w a deduction and curves the 2 tests (midterm and final) graded off those and the 6 projects. 4 were actual art project and the last 2 were writing assignments. Very easy. Great Professor.
Art101 is a lecture class, not a hands-on art class. Professor Dave was an awesome professor! His class was lectures (but fun and enjoyable!), 6 projects, 2 movies, and 2 big exams. His textbook is very easy to read and absorb material and he provides study guides in his textbook so I suggest getting the textbook! Definitely recommend Dave!
Professor Plouffe was an AMAZING professor! He made every lecture interesting and I had fun being in his class. He tries very hard to explain everything to his students and that helped a lot during his exams. He only had a midterm and then the final as well as 4 projects that were super easy. He grades quite fast as well. Overall, he was great!
Professor Plouffe was an amazing Professor to take for University 100. He was super chill and incredibly understanding if you needed more time on projects. He spaces everything out and gives you a lot of time to complete easy projects and assignments. He is hilarious and caring and seems really passionate about helping students. Rare hw, easy A,
Great professor! He bases his midterm and final from lectures. Make sure not to make it a habit to always miss class, lectures are very interesting!!
David is really chill. Basically you use the study guide to take notes. TBH if you buy the book you don't have to attend class as everything he goes over in class is all in the textbook (it's his textbook he created). The projects aren't hard, as long as u follow the rubric you get full points. Tests are correlation painting to definitions or vv.
I loved this class! The professor is hilarious and makes art interesting to learn about. If you take good notes during lectures, you should be fine with the exams! He goes over some slides pretty fast, but if you review the book before class, it should be no problem. I preferred not reading the book first bc it made class much more interesting.
Professor Plouffe is such an amazing Professor! His lectures are very interesting and the art projects are extremely easy and fun to do! I never had a professor who graded extremely fast, which is why I loved this class so much. You have to be so dumb to not pass this class! You will not regret taking him, one of my favorites!
what a great class to be introduced to art. i really enjoyed the projects that we had to do, especially the museum visit. the professor is funny asf.
He made art fun to learn about and is a very laidback professor. The class is really easy if you show up and take notes on the lectures. You dont need to buy the book for this class
Favorite professor at CSUF so far! His lectures are straight forward and the class was very very easy. He was also very funny. 6 art projects that are really simple, a midterm, and a final. They were super easy. Definitely buy his book! It will be so much easier. He would release us early almost every time. I highly recommend this professor.
Great Professor! There is an art project almost every week, but they are fun and easy! His grades really fast and gives you feedback. If you watch all the lectures and take notes you will pass the exams. If you need to take an art class, take this one!
Took this class as COMPSCI major and enjoyed every second of it. He is very funny and demonstrates passion for the subject being taught as well as his students. Multiple art projects and a few essays here and there, but they are not dreadfully difficult. I could use a few David Plouffes in the COMPSCI department, thats for sure.
Hands down one of the best professors at CSUF!! Weekly lectures with a study guide for each lecture, a couple of projects, few discussion boards. Watch the lectures and take notes and you will do fine on midterm and final! Take him!!!
Dave was a really great professor. I had him for Art 101 when we were in person and had to transition online. His transition was perfect. His art projects are really easy and fun to do. If I could take his class again, I most definitely would. I learned so much about art and had a lot of fun completing the projects.
Although his pre-recorded lectures are a little monotone & sometimes get boring, you can really tell he loves what he does which is why I would recommend him. His class isn't difficult but make sure to study for the midterm/final exam b/c almost 70% of what he says in the lectures ends up on one of the two exams. TAKE NOTES !!
Took him during Fall 2020. It is an asynchronous class, and he gives good feedback for each projects. There are about 6, one midterm (multiple choice) and one final. Really easy if you watch his lecture videos and take notes.
He is a good professor and you can see he is very passionate about what he teaches, but I feel like it is too much for being a GE class. He assigns about 2-3 lectures that range from 15 mins to an hour and also a project every week. The projects are not hard but the lectures can be quite heavy. Overall it is an alright class
A very passionate professor who knows what he's talking about. There are a LOT of lectures, but make sure to watch them all because the midterm/final are difficult if you don't watch AND take notes on them; they're worth a LOT. All his other assignments are straightforward. There are 4 hands-on art projects; super easy! He grades super quickly!
As you can probably tell by all the other reviews, Professor Plouffe is a great teacher who loves what he does. His class is very easy and is pretty much a guaranteed A.
One of the best profs ever! Super easy and the projects are really fun. Gives good feedback on the projects and knowledgeable on the subject. Very lecture heavy, but lots of fun material in the lectures. Midterms are easy if you do the study guides and watch the lectures.
I took Professor Plouffe's class in the fall and thought it was really interesting! The projects we did throughout the semester were also pretty enjoyable! As long as you complete all the homework and watch the lectures, to be prepared for tests, you should score well.
Honestly good class everything is super easy but stupid how most of your grade is on the midterms .DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU WANT A EASY A. I did the mistake of letting these reviews lead me to take him.
Very good professor! This class was very fun to take and enjoyed doing the art assignments. The lectures were interesting and study guides are provided. Only 2 tests, midterm and final the rest are just discussion boards or art projects. This class was very enjoyable and informative.
This class wasn't hard, the midterm and the final were pretty easy. The reading is easy, and the lectures aren't long. I recommend
I was looking for a class to get an easy A and fulfill my GE requirements, and this was definitely it! All of the assignments were fun and easy for non-artists. I would recommend this class to anyone looking for a laid-back class.
Very test heavy class dont recommend if you want a easy A. In all honesty to much work for a GE class. Class consist of discussion boards art project and lectures weekly the lecture are usually 2 a week being 40 minutes long . DONT TAKE .
Took his Modern Art class and it was pretty cool! He has a lot of insight into the art world that he was happy to share with us. His lectures were fascinating, and the projects were fun. Just be sure to put in the work, 'cause it's a lot of reading and watching films too. Plus it's very lecture-heavy so you'll miss a lot if you skip just one class.
His personality is just amazing ! He is understanding and although the lectures are a bit much, its not a lot in reality. As long as you take notes you'll be fine. I'm horrible at remembering things and a horrible tester and yet I still managed to have a good grade. I recommend this class, and would def take him again !
Professor Dave is an amazing teacher who makes it very easy to understand his lectures. The material is pretty simple; as long as you show up to class and pay attention, you should be fine for the midterm and finals. His other assignments are pretty fun to do and he's an easy grader. I didn't need the textbook so save your money. Definitely take!
I did not get the textbook, and still did great. Class is lecture heavy, so if you miss class you are going to need to get notes from a friend, because he does not post them onto canvas. Notes are crucial for the midterm and final. Tests are difficult, but Dave is very genuine and a good teacher. His lectures are not boring, and he is hilarious.
Dave is great! I bought the textbook and never used it. I got an A on everything too! Class is lecture heavy. Notes are IMPORTANT. Not mandatory, but helps you prepare for the midterm and final, which are the ONLY tests. If you study and go to class, tests are easy. My favorite thing about class was how funny he is, made waking up at 7am worth it.
Plouffe is a hilarious guy, very sarcastic. Youll be graded on a couple of artworks, a midterm, and a final. His projects are easy and he grades generously, but no extra credit. The midterm and final are straight from his lectures, so you dont want to miss class even though attendance isnt mandatory. Would highly, highly recommend.
He is a real gem. If you show up to his class you will probably pass, just make to take notes. He gives us some test answers every once in a while during his lectures so show up to every single one. He also gives great feedback and makes class fun.
He has a laid-back way of teaching and is a funny guy. Going to his lectures is important because everything he says is relevant to his midterm and final. He usually assigns a project or a paper every weekend, but it is pretty easy to complete.
Dave is an excellent instructor who has a world of knowledge on the material. Course is very lecture heavy -- it is difficult to catch up if you miss class as the notes are not posted. Exams are difficult and very detailed, but it is possible to earn a good grade if you study with plenty of time in advance. Several projects that are relatively easy
Great lectures. As long as you show up and take notes, you won't really need the textbook. Tests are multiple choice and pretty easy. There are assignments in the beginning, but they are easy.
This class is very lecture-heavy. Make sure to take notes and pay attention to each class because he puts most questions on the exams. There were a few projects but they were very easy and fun. He gives study guides so just be sure to study and you should pass. He doesn't post lectures so be sure to make some friends and get notes from them.
You need to go to class to take notes on lectures but the material is otherwise easy. He was very easygoing and clear about what he expected on assignments/tests. The projects never took me more than 2 hours to do.
I was confused about Plouffe's ratings on here because I don't know anyone doing super well in this class. There are a lot of filler projects for your grade but they arent worth that much overall so your grade really depends on the very difficult midterm and final exam.
Overall amazing course and professor! Lectures are heavy and it's super important to take notes and attend class because the midterm and final come straight from the study guides that he goes over in class! A few projects and discussion posts to help even out grade but they are not hard and he is an easy grader! not an easy A you'll have to work.
David Plouffe was such an amazing professor. He gave full credit as long as you did the assignments which were very easy and hard to mess up. We had 2 exams which all the answers were right out of his lectures. we had a couple drawing/art projects which were also easy. you dont NEED to go to class but it would be really helpful. Def recommend!!
David Plouffe is hilarious and hands down one of my favorite professors at CSUF. Exams and assignments are very straightforward.
take him, lectures resemble tests and he gives a notes study guide. super easy to pass.
Professor Plouffe is very passionate about art, which makes what he is teaching more interesting. Exams are fair and based off of the study guides he gives for each lectures. There are a couple of projects but he grades you off of following directions and effort. Attend class because he doesn't post lecture slides
His exam questions have really specific questions that you won't know unless you paid attention in class. The assignments aren't hard, and his lectures are pretty easy to follow and fun to listen to. Sometimes he goes a little fast, but otherwise he's a great professor. You don't need the textbook either.
Engaging and funny lectures. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about what he's teaching, which I appreciate. The assignments were easy and had very clear instructions. Make sure to go to every lecture and take notes because some of the questions on the midterm/final are pretty niche.
This is overall and easy class. But you must attend the lectures or do the online ones instead, and study for your exams. This was my mistake, the exams have a lot of information but they are easy to study for. These exams are also most of your grade.
His class is lecture heavy but he is a very chill and kind professor. You should show up to class because all of the additional material he talks about in his lectures are on the test. I purchased the book but we never used it so save your money! You have a couple projects but they are really fun :)
He is a fantastic teacher and makes the lectures interesting. It's essential to come to class to not miss critical key details that he says during the lecture. Sometimes he even tells you what's going to be on the midterm/final. Overall one of the best Art teachers I've had.
Dave was a nice and funny guy. His class is very lecture heavy, so be prepared to take a lot of notes. His homework assignments are straight forward, and he always encourages group discussions. However, his class is very exam heavy, so be sure to study notes. Exams are multiple choice, 60 questions, 120 points. If you enjoy Art history, take him.
Dave has some of the funniest lectures I've ever had, he cracks me up every time I go into class. He gives a lot of test answers throughout his lectures, so make sure you try to go to class. Other then that, he is pretty easy!
Class is super easy as long as you put in effort. Every lecture has a fillable study guide, so just show up and copy answers. David Plouffe's humor makes his lectures enjoyable. Super chill guy. Highly recommend taking him for your GE course. Projects are super easy and straightforward too.
Amazing professor! He's very fun and outgoing. He doesn't give TONS of assignments but when he does they're easy and gives plenty of time to get them done. His lectures were very interesting and understandable! 10/10 recommend. EASY COURSE!
I wouldn't say this was my favorite class, but it also wasn't the worst. This class solely relies on his lectures, but yet during the lectures, he doesn't give much time for someone to jot down the information and sometimes skips slides. Although, he is an easy grader when it comes to assignments. Studying for the midterm and the final is a must.
David assignments are pretty easy and he is a lenient grader. My major drawback is he goes way too fast on the lectures so i have to bring a phone on my side to take a picture. The exams are fairly difficult since it ask for the smallest details. I recommend this professor since this class is very doable.
He's a really great professor, although attendance isn't mandatory you should probably show up if you want to pass the class. He goes through a lot of info, so you gotta be prepared to take notes(does not post online). The exams aren't too hard if you study. Also don't fall behind on the journals lol.
Professor Plouffe is a really good professor. His lectures are easy to understand and entertaining. Projects are not hard and not that much homework. Don't fall behind on the weekly journals though. He goes very fast on his lectures so be prepared to take pictures. Overall easy course and a nice and funny guy,
I enjoyed his class for Art 101 heavily. He goes a little fast on slides, but other than that, he is super funny and a really great professor. I recommend taking his class.
Professor Plouffe makes his lectures enjoyable and funny. Would recommend attending class as most of the test questions are based on his lectures. Easy course, clear instructions and grading.
Although he says attendance is mandatory, he doesn't take attendance but missing his lectures will make you clueless during exams. Journals every week were a bit of a pain, but he usually would cancel class a good amount to go online and would finish lectures early every time. A good professor, east grader and homework usually wasn't too much.
I recommend taking Professor Plouffe he was super funny and made learning about art very interesting. We have journals every week but it's due at the end of the semester. He doesn't take attendance but don't miss too much. Overall amazing professor!!
Professor Plouffe was a good professor. He was understanding as long as you emailed him with enough time. Every week we would have just a quiz and the occasional assignment/discussion. We also did a journal entry every single week and turned it in on the last week of the semester. Requires a book but as long as you watch the lectures, you're good.
Dave was so much fun to have as a professor. I had his class at 8:00am and he was still engaging with students, but not in an annoying way. His slideshow lectures are great and often have slides with the exact same info that will be on his exams. Attendance not mandatory, but show up for at least a few lectures so you're not totally lost.
Dave slays.
Engaging lectures with optional study guides! No exam, but there are timed quizzes each week. Assignments include several discussion posts and five assessments (art or essay) with clear instructions and rubrics. Additionally, a journal is due at the end of the semester.
wayyyy too much to memorize with a tough schedule bombed final cuz way tooooo much content is insane had an A tilll final so just be careful he graded the assignments tough too
Easygoing Proficient is his field. Although there is a textbook available, just attend all the lectures and you'll be fine. Low workload, just don't push it too far back unless you want to cram. Definitely recommend.
A fun teacher I highly recommend taking! Attendance is not necessary but the tests are very lecture-based, so I would recommend going.
Great professor! Average amount of work for an asynchronous class. Everything has clear instructions and expectations and the Canvas is really well organized. I highly recommend him for ART-101!
Attendance is mandatory, but all his lectures are posted online, so you'll never miss anything important. Make sure to watch the documentaries because he asked questions from the documentaries he made us watch on the midterm and final. It's a pretty class, I got a B because I'd skip and forget to/be too lazy to watch the lectures.
We love Dave.
Wasn't hard to understand for an 8:00 am class. Midterm and final were both based on lectures given. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would go to pass and understand the material. Projects throughout which were all fairly easy. Journals are done every week and is due at the end of the semester.
Amazing teacher! I ended the class with a 91 which was supposed to be an A- but he rounded it to an A! Very simple class it can can get busy sometimes because of the art projects but if you manage your time wisely it should be not that hard. He tells you to purchase his textbook but you only need to watch his lectures carefully and you will be ok!
David's ART101 is a breeze if you put in the work. Lectures are engaging, and with Unstuck ai and the free textbook, you'll be set for success. Just don't slack on attendance - it's mandatory. Overall, an easy A if you manage your time well.
Very simple straight forward class everything can be found on slides or textbook
Took his ART-101 class. Amazing professor that is extremely passionate about his subject. Keep up with journals and projects and the class will be a breeze. Do not procrastinate and go to lecture.
His course was so chill and he's super nice! For this course, he does post about "required" material such as certain color pencils, or a textbook but I purcahsed niether of those items. Nor does any of the classwork require the textbook. So save your money. He posts the lectures but I recommend attending! Midterm and final are taken in-person.
mangeable weekly assignments. not super complicated or time-consuming. however at the end of the sem, u have to submit the art journals that were also assigned at the end of every wk. i procrastinated but did enough journals to pass the class. easy class, would recommend
pretty easy to pass if you attend the class and look at the slides. literally most of the test questions he gives you LMAOOO hilarious professor, will miss him
One writing journal every week, the majority of which aren't hard. One mid-term and one final. He posts all lectures on Canvas, but he goes more into depth in class and even points out specific things to remember for exams. Lectures can be a bit boring, but that varies person to person.
AMAZING PROFESSOR Honestly, he is a great guy and cares a lot about his students. You can tell he puts a lot of work into his slides and the lectures he gives us. I recommend going to his lectures since he gives midterm answers throughout the slides. Overall, this is a good class, very chill, and honestly, a fun one also. Don't forget the journals!
If you are a senior trying to take an easy credit online class DO NOT take this class. There were seventeen modules for a sixteen-week course. It was an absurd amount of work for an introductory class. I spent the same if not more time on this class than I did for my senior capstone class. so much work in this class. not worth it
Class was easy, but makes you buy his $150 textbook just for you to not use it. He also advises that you purchase $30 colored pencils and a $20 sketch pad only to use it for five drawings.
This class was insightful, but there were quite a few assignments. There is a journal that you have to turn in at the end of the semester, so I recommend doing them as they get posted or you'll fall behind. Besides that, Professor Plouffe was nice, and his lectures were easy to get through.
He's an amazing professor. Take notes from his powerpoint because it would help with the midterm and final. The assignments are doable. Also do the journals its really important.
Took Art 101 online with Professor Plouffe and loved it. The lectures are really interesting and fast-paced, even online. There are a lot of assignments, but they aren't hard, and the biggest assignment isn't due until the end of the semester. As long as you keep up with the assignments, the class is super easy & interesting!
Professor Plouffe is super chill! His lectures are very informative and you don't need to purchase the textbook, only just coloring pencils and the sketch pad for the art journals. The class is graded on 3 DB posts, 2 GEWR, midterm, final, and 14 art journals. The art journals are the only lengthy assignment so make sure to alot time for them.
