Was a very hard class, but he did a good job teaching it i have always been good at math but felt overwelmed with the homework in the class and the test were pretty hard too but he did give a generic test review.

Very cool teacher. He explains things very well and will continue to explain until the information is learned. He is very helpful and makes everything seem extremely easy.

I had such a good time in this class. I was so nervous about taking it, but he is an excellent teacher. I recommend him to lots of people. He tells you exactly what problems will be on your test and the final is comprised of all your test questions.

He was easy to understand and wrote everything you needed to know on the board for easy notetaking. He went over everything on the test before you took it and nothing other than that was on the test. In my opinion he was great. Plus he was went to Texas A&M so that's good

The only bad thing about Mr. Quarles are his tests. each test has less than 10 questions on it throughout the semester but the final is multiple choice. Other than that, he's a great prof, willing to help and makes math better than what it's usually like.

A very helpful professor. If you're unsure about how to work a problem, he takes time to explain it. His tests are actually not that hard. There are only 4 test but each problem counts a lot (the 4th test only has 6 questions). Try to get 100's on homeworks and quizzes because it helps a lot.

I really enjoyed his class. He was very helpful. If you had questions, he would make sure they got answered. He would work a problem over and over if you needed him to. Very humerous. I would definately recommend him if you need a math class.

Fun teacher! Explains material really well. Likes to break things down to make sure the students get it. Very organized in his teachings as well. Make sure to do the homework. It's never due but it really prepares you for his tests. Final consists of random questions from your previous tests. Gives a 5 point bonus question for every exam.

I found him to be very boring and monotone. I love math, always have, but he made it so dull that I never showed up to class. It was miraculous to see anyone in class the few times I did attend. I do NOT recommend him if you dislike math in any way, and even if you do like math, I still recommend against it.

Wow, there's alot of mixed reviews here. Mr Quarles is a really nice guy and he explains everything well. My only problem is that he doesnt give any study guids, extra credit, or curves. He is good for smart-lazy people but bad for dumb-hardworking people...... like me :)

By far, the best math professor I've ever had. He teaches extremely well, his examples are on target, if you don't understand just ask, lets you know what types of problems are gonna be on the test. Uses point system grading. Funny, has great stories, A&M Alumni, book not needed, just Course Compass to do HW on, no quizzes just tests & cumm. final.

Very well educated and is easy to understand overall but if u don't grasp one concept, OH WELL cuz his class goes very fast and there's only one question per concept on the test. Funny stories and nice guy but not very one-on-one. If Algebra comes easy for you, TAKE HIM but if not, he may not be ur best choice.

I would recommend him to everyone.. he is really good at explaining... and went back to expain what he did numorus times with no issue.. attendence is not an issue. and he put tests in the testing center when i couldn't make it..

Prof. Quarles is a very cool and laid back guy, he knows his stuff and explains extremly well, we will understand if you missed something or have to make up something. Reviews all the tests one class before taking it. RECOMENDED

This guy knows his stuff, if you can't learn from Mr. Quarles then you need help. He takes the time to explain everything in depth and always asks to ake sure everyone in the room understands. He is super nice and pretty understanding, the homework was mandatory in my class but the tests were easy as long as you studied and understood the material.

This dude is the bomb. Goes through each lesson, doing every example and answering any questions you have. Tells you exactly whats on the test. I took this professor for both 1314 and 1316, and was dissapointed when I found out he was not teaching precal the next semester. EXCELLENT TEACHER!! He is a great professor to take for College Algebra. He is really funny and definitely doesn't make Math seem extra hard. Prof Quarles is an excellent professor he explains everything in simple easily laid out terms. Follow his queue on how to work the problems and you'll get it really easily he makes math simple.

Great professor. Nothing is ever easy about math but Professor Quarels makes his lectures as interesting as they can be and is there to help you if you need it. Tutoring at Lonestar blows all the way around so a helpful teacher is a must.

College Algebra is understandably difficult, especially online. However, I expected help from the teacher. When I explained the efforts I was trying and still struggling with, his only response was, "I don't give makeups and there's no extra credit." Useless at helping to "get" concepts! Don't take this class unless you already know algebra.

Took Quarles for Calculus in the Fall. Very funny guy. Received a B in the class. He makes the material as easy as possible and is available after class or during office hours for any questions. The class does require homework assignments in MyMathLab. Exams are about 20 points each. If you do the homework and study you have no problem passing.

He makes calculus about as fun as it can be. He is a funny, clear and helpful professor. Liked talking to him outside of class, too. He is the one of the only professors at Lone Star that I felt was intelligent enough to teach other people. Great guy. I would definitely recomend taking him. Except MyMathLan, fun, easy class.

You don't need a textbook for this class, just the math lab code. Professor quarles loves math with a passion. He could stand up there and teach it all day and he's good at it. This has been my 3rd class with Professor Quarles. I love his teaching style and I'm truly sad that I will not have anymore classes with him. He will teach you everything you need to know and you will do fine on the 3 exams (in class) and 4 quizzes (take home). HW is optional which is nice. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone!! Took him for Intro to Engineering. Fun class and fun activities though there were a few "what exactly are we supposed to do again?" moments. He just needs to give a little more direction sometimes. Can't wait to take future engineering classes with him. Also made some new friends in his class.

If you have the oportunity to take a class with Professor Quarles, I highly recommend that you do so. He is a humble guy who goes out of his way to help student. Don't be fooled though, He is way smarter than he lets on. Although he is a bit lenient with his attendance policy, missing class will mean missing material so don't do it.

Since it was an engineering class, I figured it would be hard, but it wasn't. There were only two tests and a few assignments/projects. You have to actually know the material, but the material isn't hard. If it weren't for one person in my group screwing up an in class project, I would have gotten a 100 in this class.

Math has never been my strong suit, but Mr. Quarles is such a great teacher, he explains things in detail and helps you out when you're struggling. He's loves math so much & gets excited when he's teaching, its adorable. So far his tests are very clear, he tells you what to expect and always willing to help. Best math teacher I have ever had!

AutoCAD & Inventor are super easy to understand, and David has no problems helping you with whatever. He isn't high on his own stink and is perfectly happy learning new things that he didn't know before. Didn't mind helping with other class Math work either. Crazy funny guy.

Took Mr. Quarles Spring 2019 semester. Great Math teacher. Clearly explains how to do the work. Not applying yourself will fail you. Plenty of homework, but beneficial to understand the concepts. 4 tests and a final. Everything is explained in the lectures, so try your best not to miss class. He's chill and passionate about math. I recommend him.

I'm not a math person, but Prof Quarles made lectures very clear and easy to understand. He has a good sense of humor and makes lectures amusing. Exams are only a few questions long since they're lengthy to solve but there's always a bonus question. HW and practice exams are on mymathlab, and you can go on there to get HW help. No book needed

BEST COLLEGE ALGEBRA TEACHER! He writes everything on the board you need to know for the test, gives examples. Provides a review for the test. Test are around 11 question, not multiple choice. You have to know how to solve the problems step by step. KEEP YOUR TEST you will use it as a review for the final.

I took this class a second attempt in an online environment due to my schedule and kids. Professor gives lots of Homework and 2 attempts to take the test in a testing center. The professor does look at the test and will add points to the test if he needs to. The professor does care, but would like his students to put forth the effort. I passed!

I liked Prof Quarles' class! Once every lecture, he threw in an interesting, hilarious story that I got very excited for. He teaches well, but many times I'd find myself re-learning it by myself at home. He is very helpful when asked for help. Mymathlab generates a lot of heavy, unnecessary homework. Tests are difficult & important, so study a lot.

All homework and tests are done through mymathlab. Unlimited opportunities to get a 100 on every homework assignment. Study for the tests and you'll do fine. He responds to emails quickly and sends reminders about tests.

Only saw him once a week bc of COVID but his in-person lectures were great! He mainly did his homework, quizzes, & exams through MyMathLab (gotta pay for). I didn't really use the textbook, but the MathLab is really helpful. Exams & assignments aren't proctored. He cares about math. I've tried taking algebra and he's the best professor I've had

Pretty easy class since it's basically the same algebra you learn probably in 8th grade and through high school. He's a good teacher and fairly responsive to emails. The only work we really had to do was whatever assignments was on MyMathLab. It can be a lot, but you have the "etext" as well as his lectures to guide you.

Professor Quarles was such an awesome teacher! He explains everything in such detail, but in a way that doesn't make you feel overwhelmed! He makes sure you understand the problems before moving on to the next question. He does a chapter a day so if you miss class it might take you a minute to catch up. This professor is great for an online platform. Initially, his homework calendar was very intimidating but it keeps you on track. If you stick with his timeline you will not have homework on the weekends. He gives you a test review. DO THE REVIEW! There isn't anything on the test that is not on the review! No lock down or camera required.

Love him, amazing teacher, open to questions, and very helpful. Homeworks are in MylabMath, so you do have to buy that. He is really good at explaining and he's funny.

Professor David Quarles is great! There is no way to fail this class, there are multiple attempts allowed on all assignments, quizzes and even tests. He is amazing and I am happy to have chosen this course with him. I look forward to another class with him, I hope that he is in the other math courses that I need.

Mr. Quarles encourages participation and always answers questions, and you can tell that he loves his subject. Tests are online and open for 4 days; I did have a situation where I wasn't able to take a test because I got sick on the last day it was open. I contacted him and he did not reopen it. Other than that, you'll get a lot out of his class.

Professor Quarles was amazing! He is clear, precise, and will let you know specifically will be on tests in advance. Multiple attempts on all HW through mylabmath and tests are 10-15 questions. The only reason I got a C was because I did not show up as often as I should have, so make sure you go to class, especially with professor Quarles!

I really liked this professor. I took him for the fall semester, everything was through MyMathLab. There was I believe around 20-30 homework, 4 test, and a final. The professor was always accessible, and if I had an issue he would email me back within the same day.

Great professor. Very understanding. Reopened a test for me when I thought it was on a different day. Was pretty difficult for me because I'm bad at math, but he gives extra points if you write out the work properly. Just do the lessons to 100% and make at least and 80 on all the tests and you'll get an A.

Loved him as a professor. If you ever have trouble understanding something he's accessible and happy to help! Exams are 9-12 questions and require you to solve step-by-step. There are around 30 mylab hw assignments but you get unlimited reattempts. Attendance isnt mandatory but if you don't show up you'll be missing a lot of info.

There are 4 tests + final. There is lots of HW but unlimited attempts, he uses MyMathLabs. Will go over what you should study for test. offered extra credit on first test, and curved another. He will give partial credit if you showed some work on the tests. His voice is kind of monotone, but he tries to make the class as interesting as possible!

He gave clear lectures. There were four tests and one final exam. Every chapter has online homework, but there is no deadline before the final test. An A will be yours if you do well on the test. He doesn't give extra credits. He just gave you back your first test and let you correct it. You can get haft credit of every questions (Only one time)

This guy is the best. He's super friendly and approachable. He makes a lot of jokes and make class fun. His lectures are easy to follow and as long as you do the homework around the recommended time you should do fine on the exams. Exams are on paper and are short which makes things a lot easier. Overall, one of my favorite profs I've had.

He is a phenomenal teacher and he gives your plenty of time to complete homework. He explains what tests will cover and will go over problems in class if you do not understand something. I went to the Tutoring Center almost every day and I am glad that I did well in his class; but I do not know if LSC is preparing us well for undergrad or grad sch.

Best professor I've had in Lone Star College so far. I was scared of math before taking his class, but he explains everything very clearly and thoroughly. Plus he's super nice, positive, and cool. 10/10. Don't forget it is math and you do need to be prepared for lots of formulas and stuff. But ultimately, DO TAKE HIS CLASS.

Good professor, gives clear guidelines for the class and is very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Very personable, a good lecturer. The actual concepts can be very complex and difficult depending on your prior experience, but he posts large study guides for all tests. A very quick grader, on top of things. Class does cover a lot of material.

Professor Quarles is AMAZING, originally, I had another professor for this class, but he quit, and we got him, and I am so glad we did. He always gives a key sheet on all the exams with equations, and he lets you use them on the test as well! An amazing person who obviously cares for his students and wants them to understand and pass the class.

Professor Quarles is a great teacher - he explains concepts clearly and is generous with points. Using unstuck AI along with the textbook really helped me succeed in the class. It's doable if you stay engaged.

I was very nervous about taking trigonometry, but I took his class during the fall semester, and it went very well. Tests are relatively easy as long as you study, for tests, he tries to show what you need to study. The homework is very annoying and costly to buy, but you can get 100s on each of the homework assignments-HW is harder than the tests.

Took Prof. Quarles for college algebra and he really is great. He tells you EXACTLY what you will see on the test, has very straight-forward class content, and obviously is passionate about his job. His lectures are a little boring, but he simplifies and explains topics very well and loves questions. If you need slow, simple explanations, take him!
