Absolutely my favorite teacher- I took the second half of the history class just to have another class with him. I don't think he's an easy grader- he just makes it easy to learn and be engaged in the material.

He is one of the best professors that I have ever seen since i went to college.....

He will allow students to turn in papers YEARS after they were assigned - you choose your grade in this class, depending on how much time you put into it.

I wouldn't classify him as an easy grader, but the leverage he gives students over their grade is unbelievable. He is totally accessible for help and he makes history so interesting that I'm going to major in it! Reading & writing intensive-but worth it!

Great teacher. I wrote lots of papers but it helped. He gives you pretty much every point on each paper if you meet the requirements of the paper. I only lost points on the mid term and the final. He is a great teacher. Make sure you visit him during his office hour.

Mr. Rayson is the best, he's just an understanding person, he'll let you turn in assignments in late and still give full credit for it. Although there is a lot of books to get in this course, they are all used and well worth it.

He is a great teacher. No memorization! I took two classes with him: History of Family and World Civ 2. He makes history fun! He was VERY understanding. He accepts late work. His record: taking work 4 years late to change an incomplete into a letter grade!!!!

He pretty much rocks! Everyone else pretty much covored it. He wants you to win, that's pretty much it!

This guy rocks. He tells you that he wants you to win and if you follow through with his assignments and lectures then you do. I got a lot of useful information from the class.

At first, I was a little skeptical of his teaching style. But in hindsight, I think he's one of the only teachers who really gets it. Class is pretty easy but can be frustrating if you get behind. He's a great teacher - very flexible and kind. If you have a problem, he will work with you. Highly recommend.

David is wonderful. I couldn't have had a better prof for my first class at Normandale. He's willing to work with you to get things done and is very flexible. Just don;t slack off, even though you can. It's a week after classes finished and I'm still trying to finish the final!

He was a great professor. Really easy, but a lot of writing that was mostly summaries. Tests were extremely easy since he tells you what's on the test. He is an awesome guy and really cares about his students. Also, he gives many opinions other than his own. The movies in this class are great too.

Great guy! Very interesting and helpfull! The movies in class were very interesting as well. The only thing about this class is that there is a LOT of writing; I wrote 46 pages total for the semester! He's a very forgiving grader, however: he accepts most late assignments and is extremely helpfull outside of class!

Where do I even begin with David Rayson? He is one of the best teachers at Normandale! He is EXTREMLY helpful. If you do the work you will do great...And if you dont show up to class and if you hand in your assignments late he wont care you just have to approach him about it! TAKE RAYSON! TAKE RAYSON!

Great professor. I've taken him for two classes. It may seem like a lot of work, and it is, but they're graded very nicely and they get repetive while doing it so its not as much work. Professor is great and is understanding and amusing! Take his class!

David is an excellent proffessor who cares about the students succeeding. He understands that homework and classes can pile up and is lenient on his due dates. He is very amusing, as well. I highly recommend him!

David Rayson is hands down the best Prof. I've had at NCC. He is passionate about his job and really takes time to get to know you (literally). He really makes you think for your self and if you get nothing out of the class you were never there. I HIGHLY recommend taking his classes.

He is an awesome teacher! I hate history and i liked the class, that means a lot. The class is very reading and writing heavy but he's a pretty good grader, very easy to talk to and he understands that life happens and is very accomodating.

Hmm...what do I have to say about Mr. David Rayson? He was the best college professor that I ever had. He was extremly helpful. It seemed liked he actually cared about the success of his students.The only problem was that his tests were very painful as he made us hand write the answers in our little blue book.Take his class and you will have fun.

Engaging and intense, perfect teacher for a History class. Hilarious and very warm-hearted, wants you to learn and get a good grade. Dr. Rayson really cares about students. He comes from a family of very educated people and has wise advice.

From the first day of class I loved this guy. He clearly explains every expectation and will answer any questions you have. Extremely helpful, wants to get to know you, and just all around a great teacher. If you could find any reason justifying taking his class I would highly recommend him, my favorite teacher I've had yet.

The best professor I have ever had! Cares about his students, extremely accommodating, willingness to help, and never boring. I don't even like history, but David made it interesting and fun to learn about. Lots of outside class work, but very manageable. Would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I took his class online. It was the first class where I had such long papers to write, but that was a great experience. The curriculum was very engaging. His schedule was actually a little too relaxed for me, as some things depended on group work, but the other members of my group chose to wait until the last minute to post all their assignments.

Rayson is AWESOME! He gives you an overview of all the assignments and then lets you work at them throughout the semester at your own pace. The most relaxed/understanding teacher I have ever had. Even if you are not interested in the subject, take it cause Rayson is the best.

I've been at Normandale for two years and David is by far the best professor I have ever had! He is so helpful, cares about his students and really wants to watch you succeed. His syllabus was a little overwhelming at first but don't give up hope, his class is so much fun! Love love LOVE him! :)

BEST TEACHER YOU'RE EVER GOING TO GET. Instead of shoving information down your throat, he prepares what he wants you to work on, and gives a flexible schedule. Discussions were entertaining and funny, and I found myself saying "I love this class" every class. Rayson is the only reason I survived a 4 hr long night class. Also, he lets out early :)

If your in school to learn and be challenged he is not for you! Lots of writing, I'll say that but there was a lack of structure. Other students seemed to like him because he was so lax an easygoing... but the lack of structure bothered me. Nice guy though, very sweet.

He is such a sweet guy. Very laid back class, so if you like a class with no dead lines and structure then take this one. He makes it so his students do well because he wants us to succeed and I like that about him. It was a really good class!!

One thing I really appreciated about David is that he makes it clear from the start that he is human, makes mistakes, and is always open to learn. He sometimes acts more like a peer than a professor, but in the end you learn a lot. He defies the stereotype that all professors are tweed wearing, austere people only focused on academics. Great class.

David is by far the best prof I have ever had. This class is an easy A if you take the time to do a good job on all the work and communicate with him. He is extremely laid back and fun, which makes each class entertaining. However, if you need deadlines and are not motivated, do not take this class.

FANTASTIC!! Fair grader, clear lecturer and all around nice guy. He make the subject come alive with interesting stories. One day he dress in a toga and read the lesson from a scroll. Very entertaining! Good mix of readings as well. A few papers graded very fairly!

Fantastic professor. No tests. Easiest A ever if you don't mind doing a lot of writing. He is funny and super helpful. He made History, which I am not usually a fan of, genuinely interesting.

Very easy to get an A. But you have to work for it. It is a lot of writing, no in-class tests or quizzes, the midterm and final are essays. I ended up with 85 points of extra credit, so I didn't have to do the final. David is very helpful and wants you to succeed in his class.

Great Professor, funny, can be serious but you don't use the textbook but the books you are assigned to read is a must.

David is hilarious, passionate about teaching, & understands the stress that his students are in. His lectures are interesting if you like history & he shows a ton of movies in class. David is an awesome professor, he has no dead lines which is nice but you have to motivate yourself to do it, he does do book reports but they aren't that long and he makes the class fun, and watch movies. if you do the document summaries and papers you'll do fine

Took it over the summer-- SUPER INTENSE!! He's a great guy and a good teacher, and is super understanding about late work. He's very passionate about his work, and he takes pride in being a teacher that people actually enjoy.

I took this class over the summer. He is a awesome teacher, I would definitely take him as a teacher again. Super lenient for accepting late work. He is super nice and a great profess:) He is amazing:) He wants you to understand what you read so if you write something that makes sense of what you read you will get full credit. there are no tests in his class, only papers, but they are weekly. He is very spontaneous and funny in class and some of the movies he shows are good. Attendance is very loose and extra credit is very easy to get and there are lots of opportunities for it. He's also a very easy grader as long as you make all the points he wants to hear in papers

Take him he's an amazing teacher. I got an A and did moderate work. You also learn a lot from him. Like others said he is funny too and has a good personality.

I was not a history major, but I took 3 classes with David due to his ability to engage and inspire all of those in his presence. His experience and wisdom are so profound that I always left each class feeling empowered, and more compassionate. He's the best of the best. I highly recommend him to any student.

Dr. Rayson was, by far the best professor I had in my time at Normandale. He is truly inspired me to do better in each assignment i handed in. His tests are essays in which you will know about weeks in advance. He allows revisions to these essays until you get the grade you want. I highly recomend this instructor to anyone.

I loved David's class. Ancient history usually isn't my thing, but he found subjects that could spark students interest. He is very supportive of his students, and occasionally goes on little rants about how WE are in charge of our education, not the other way around, and actually told us to come here to do research on our professors. Really great!

He's very understanding and an overall great person. He cares for the students; thus he doesn't punish you for not attending class or turning in assignments late. Articles on D2L used to take notes and write a short essay. Time consuming but very easy. He does service learning so I got enough e.c to skip writing a final paper. OH YEAH, NO EXAMS

David really cares about his students and their success. He does require lots of reading, but it is all very interesting. If you love history you like this class. He does have lots of papers but most of them are 1 page papers. He has options to do service learning or outside learning for extra credit and allows revisions of papers. Amazing teacher!

I usually dont rate professors on here, but I felt like I needed to let people know that David rayson is possibly the best professor you will probably ever come across in your life. You can turn in assignments whenever is most convenient for you, even after semester is over. You can also revise every assignment as many times as you want.

Prepare for a lot of writing. David is an excellent professor, and is very dedicated to the teaching profession.

David is awesome and funny! He might be retiring soon so he is slacking off on harsh grading/number of assignments. He uses many ways of teaching. Videos, lectures, acting something out, etc. Its a history class so expect it to be kinda boring.

I had David for both Minnesota History and World Civilizations 1. It was a pleasure to take his class! Really nice guy! Just keep up doing the assignments weekly, you will do fine. However, he is a hard grader in the mid-term and final exam, but you can still revise them. Take his class when you get the chance!!

I love History, and Dr. Rayson is the kind of professor that I hope to be should I ever be fortunate enough to teach college. He is real, not elitist. He wants you to succeed as a student, and he is a warm person. He can be a bit scatter-brained, but that is what makes him charming. I consider myself fortunate to have attended his class.

I am sure that Dr. Rayson was probably better in his prime, but I am still glad that I was able to take his course. He is a very caring professor, he cares that you understand the subject well and is extremely flexible with his assignment turn-in dates. He is passionate about world history, he's not a tough grader but do the work and you'll pass.
