Not a bad teacher. Very nice towards students and is easy to come talk to about problems.

Although the material can be tough at times, Dr. Rieck explains the material so well that if you go to class and take good notes you'll do very well.

The class sometimes can be confusing, but he tries to hard to make people understand. GO to his office hours, b/c he will help with anything. He is really nice and if you study hard you won't have a problem.

Way cool - weird sense of humor though! Take him fall term - you get out early if the Packers win!

Hard class but he does a good job teaching it. Tests are tough and he's no one to give breaks. If you do the work you'll do fine.

He is a very nice guy that tries very hard to make class fun. However, he is a little too difficult for just a 101 class. He doesn't curve at all and his tests are very hard. You can go to him for help but usually he doesn't help clarify anything just confuses you more.

Very Helpful outside of class. Has office hours everyday and study sessions weekly. Makes all information very clear to understand and works things out step by step. Take this class. Not necessarily easy, but not hard, and you will not be left with unanswered questions. PLUS... he's sooo funny and interacts with the class!

Dr. Reick is a very good professor, the material is hard but he tries to make it easy and fun with demonstrations and his weird sense of humor. He's also the sexiest Chem professor I've ever seen, so the fact that he's eye candy is a plus, for the ladies anyway.

The class in general is hard, but he tries really hard to make it fun and easy to understand. He is very willing to help you when you need it. Having a quiz every week gets kind of annoying, but it makes you keep up with the work so that when it comes time for a test it's not as hard to study for.

He was a great teacher, very interested in what he was teaching, very willing to help. It was a hard class but if you go to the help sessions he explains it again and helps you understand it better. I would recommend him to anyone that is willing to make time to study.

chem is a hard class no matter who you take but rieck is a great professor. he explains things really well and is very helpful in and out of class. this was my 2nd time in 121. first time i took kundell and got a d, then i took rieck and got a high B. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM

Nice guy, good teacher, he does care whether you understand it or not. His weekly study sessions aren't always that helpful when it's crowded because he can't always get to you in time. His class isn't easy but if you go to class and the study sessions and do all the homework you should do OK.

I absolutley loved his teaching. He was awesome, very helpful and kept class interesting. I have never took Chemistry and I managed a to get a B only because I went to tutoring. Very helpful. All around a great professor. Do take him!

Absolutely the best Chem professor that I have ever had. He explains things very thoroughly so you can understand and will take his time to make sure that you grasp the concepts. I would transfer for this guy. Awesome professor!

GREAT CHEMISTRY TEACHER!!! I think that his method of teaching is AWESOME!!! He has a strong passion and understanding for the subject. This passion and clear understanding is then passed on to the students, helping us learn. I think Chemistry in general is a little difficult and he helps you get by it.

LOVE! Dr. Rieck is an amazing Chem teacher and an all-around nice guy. He seems super serious, but then surprises the class by cracking jokes every now and then. He keeps things light, while teaching you a lot at the same time.

Best chem teacher ever. I hated chemistry before I had him, and now it's my major. He makes chemistry fun and interesting. He makes funny jokes that help you to remember things, and is extremely helpful during office hours.

Very very helpful, makes everything very easy to understand, his lectures are very in depth but very easy to understand, see him during his office hours if you are struggling he makes things easier for you. Great guy, humorous, I enjoyed his class.

Great teacher!! I took him for chem 121 and 122...very easy to understand and has plenty of office hours. As long as you put in some effort, do the homework and go for help, you will do good.

Professor Rieck is great and one of the best in the department. He works to know everyone in his big lectures and to present information in a clear way. Don't be fooled though, the exams are very challenging. The final exam was killer even if you prepare but Rieck is willing to help you.

Dr. R is hard, but very helpful. He really tries to use illustrations that will help you remember concepts and principles. His tests are hard, because he wants you to think through concepts, but he is really trying to help you learn. He likes to use inclass clicker questions, which counts towards quiz grades, but he is a great understanding teacher

WOW. I have taken Chemistry twice. Dr Rieck is the BEST chem teacher I have EVER had. he is funny and tries to explain things so we can understand. Chemistry is just a hard subject but he is always willing to help. Even though I just got a C... that was a great class!

I repeated this class after i took it with another teacher and got a C. the difference between the 2 teaching styles amazed me, Dr Rieck is so clear in his lectures and is very organized.I also took him for CHEM 122, easily the best professor in the department!

When I first found out I had chem, I was bummer because it was so hard in high school. But Dr. Rieck made it fun and interesting. His tests were challenging yet he put no surprises on them so we could perform more efficiently. I would highly recommend Dr. Rieck.

Easily one of the best professors I've had at SU. I struggled a lot with chemistry in high school, but Dr. Rieck has made it so much easier! He makes class really interesting, I never found myself distracted. If you are required to take chemistry, do yourself a favor and take it with Dr. Rieck!

Loved this class. Dr. Reick is an awesome teacher and goes out of his way to help you outside of class. He wants to see you succeed and will help you do that. Makes chem fun and you find yourself laughing in his class. If you have to take this course TAKE HIM.

Love this man. Chemistry is a very hard subject for me, but he is the first person to ever have it make sense. I actually enjoyed his classes. His love of the subject is clear and he has an entertaining and adorable way of explaining it all. Definitely take him!

Fantastic teacher. Very into the subject, gives lots of help outside of class, and if you do all the homework and practice packets, the tests shouldn't be a surprise. Hard subject but he makes the class enjoyable, mostly because you can tell how much he enjoys it.

wow I screwed up my first exam but pulled an A for the final course grade. IF you do all the homework and quiezzes before the exam you will be fine. and the final exam is not hard if you study. Do well on the quizzes and exams. I like this professor.

Dr. Rieck is the best teacher I've had in any subject, EVER! He knows his stuff, and presents the material in a way that makes it easy for everyone to understand. He is extremely approachable and makes time for his students outside of class. That said, this class is HARD! You have to study hard and do all the coursework to do well in the course.

He is a great techer don't get me wrong. But he grades really hard and does not help very much if you are lost on the subject.

I thought that Chem 122 with Rieck was a really good class. I have had many chemistry classes before, and I must say it's refreshing to have a teacher who cares enough to try to make it interesting. He makes a difficult subject as easy as possible. His exams are really not hard at all if you just do the practice packets.

I think Dr.Rieck is awesome!I have him for both 121 and 122 and I did not regret taking him.His class is not easy but he does well to prepare you for exams and final.

Dr. Rieck is awesome! The class is crazy hard, but he explains everything very clearly. Show up for clicker quiz points. ALWAYS available in office hours and very helpful after class. Not an easy prof, but very good teacher.

He is a great professor. His class is definitely not easy but the work pays off because he really prepares you for he exams. If you go to his office for help make sure you have specific questions so he can give you the help you need. I highly recommend Dr. Rieck because he really knows the material and explains concepts very well.

Love this man! Dr. Rieck loves what he does. The class is hard, but if you go to class,and "rework and our quizzes and exams" (you'll hear this 1000 times:) you will do well.Dr.Rieck prepares you for the final and practically begs people to come to his office hours.He is very articulate and kinda funny. If you think he's hot you're blind. Not bad looking but he is older. Reminds me of a dad. That being said a really good, clear, straight forward teacher of chemistry. Very good.

First chemistry class I ever took so I was far behind before class started. Dr. Rieck is a nice guy who genuinely cares about his students doing well. The class is difficult regardless who you take so expect to work hard. I would definitely take him again.

Reick is the best Chemsitry professor in the department. His lectures are very clear and easy to understand. He has great a enthusiasm and personality, making them more entertaining. Chemistry will alway be difficult, but he's fair, easy to talk to, and available to help as much as possible. You'll get out of it what you put into it. Great teacher!

Dr. Rieck is a great professor! He makes the class interesting and brings in real to life examples when he could. Take great notes and don't skip class or you'll miss a ton. Tests are true to your notes, study and you'll fair well.

He is an awesome teacher, seriously I will argue with anyone who claims his tests are hard. he provide sample exams and sample questions and if become master of doing those questions YOU WILL GET A GOOD GRADE!!!!!!!!. I think all of the students here should experience one of the middle eastern schools to realize how to evaluate hardness and easy..

He makes the lectures so much fun and he always well prepares you for quizzes and exams. Does not take attendance but you have clicker questions every day which are added into your quiz grades so you will want to be there. Be sure to print out his provided outlines as he will not slow down for you. Also I bought the textbook but never touched it

In highschool, Chem was a nightmare for me... but Rieck is an excellent teacher. Don't skip class, take good notes, go to SI, and I promise you can do it. He really wants his students to do well, and he offers as much help as he can. He gives out sample exams to practice with before each test so you know what to expect and he's hilarious.

I love this man! The class is extremely hard, but Dr. Rieck makes it known that he WANTS you to succeed. He practically begs you to come to office hours, and always makes sure that the class is understanding what he is saying. He is hilarious, kind-hearted, and the best college professor I've ever had. Go to SI sessions if you want to pass.

Loved him! some people don't like his style but I found him to teach to my needs. I hate chemistry and he helped me through and I went on to a different teacher and passed Organic. id like to think it was because of being able to know the basics so well from Rieck. He is Corny and loves science!

Attendance isnt mandatory but there are clicker questions every class that count towards your grade. 10pt quiz every friday. The only hard part of tests is the problems. But he goes over everything thoroughly would recommend!

Dr. Reick was a great teacher. He puts up a practice exam online that is almost identical to the exams given in class. If you do the online homework, do some practice problems, and go over the practice exam, you will be golden. I maybe opened the book twice

he is extremely funny, and teaches from power point, but explains topics very well. he studies how students learn so he is a very effective teacher. you will only do well if you study. you need to know the poly atomic ions. You don't want to miss class because his lectures go further than the slides.

I love Dr. Rieck. I would take every single chem class with him if I could.

Dr. Rieck is an incredible teacher. He makes sure to give practice problems and tests to ensure you do well on his exams, I never got anything lower than an 85. He replaces your lowest exam grade with your final, if you do better on it. He's funny and is often available for extra help. I am definitely taking him for Chem 122.

One of the best chemistry professors at SU. Lectures are clear and understandable. Definitely go to office hours if you have a question about anything! You have to study to pass the class. He gives practice exams which are very helpful. Do the practice problems in the book. He's willing to help students and loves when people show up to office hours

Best proffessor I've had at SU. Chem 121/122 is an overall hard class and you definitely need to study but he does a very good job of making complex topics easy to understand. Also, exams are super easy but he makes it very apparent how to study and prepare for exams to do well. Very helpful, makes lecture funny and very caring.

Dr. Rieck is my favorite professor. Chem 121 was way easier than 122 but that is just the class itself. You have to study a lot for both the exams and quizzes. Dr. Rieck was always available to help and is very caring. Go to every class, go to SI, study hard, and you will do fine. Even though it is a hard class, Rieck made it easier to understand.

Before taking Dr. Rieck's class, I absolutely hated chemistry, but now I love it! Dr. Rieck is very enthusiastic about chemistry. The class requires a lot of hard work, but his exams are fair, and his class has to be one of my favorite classes I've taken here. This class made me contemplate changing my major to chemistry!

As a freshman going into Chemistry as my major, I am really lucky to have a professor like Professor Rieck. He is passionate about Chemistry, makes it simple yet complex, and overall a great guy. Definitely deserves a 5 and if you have him as your professor next semester, keep him.

Great professor, very interactive and willing to help if you are struggling. If you know the material the tests are straight forward and not that hard. Never a surprise on the exam. Can't wait to take 122 lab with him.

Dr. Rieck is really sweet and caring. He had recorded lectures you watch outside of class (put on 2x speed, he talks really slow) and then worksheets inside class, but I enjoyed that set up. 6 'quests' and a final are mainly what you're graded on, so studying before them is very important. He drops 3 missed classes, but participation is 10%.

Any bad reviews are from students who don't care/try. If you try in this class it's an easy pass. If you take his advice and study the 6 hours per week it's an easy A. Dr. Rieck is AMAZING. He is super caring and his class is super easy if you do the work he assigns. His tests are exactly like his practice tests. There are absolutely no surprises.

Professor Rieck is the best college professor I've ever had. He was extremely helpful and truly does care about his students. The class was flipped which I enjoyed because anytime I needed to go back for a lecture I could. All of his tests are based off the packets he gives you in class. He is very passionate about chemistry and a very nice guy.

Gen Chem 2 is a HARD class and taking Rieck made it feel so much more manageable. Copy pastes his practice/homework problems straight onto quizzes and exams. Exams are hard but he's not trying to trick you, just trying to see who's doing the problems and if you do you'll ace this class. He genuinely cares about each of his students. TAKE RIECK!!

Dr. Rieck was a very passionate chem professor. You watch his lectures for homework and do practice problems in class with a weekly quiz, which he grades leniently. He provides ample practice problems that are often found on the 3 exams. If you take advantage of everything given, I see no reason why you would not get an A. Attendance is graded.

Took him for 216 Lab. Very knowledgable and direct. Sometimes makes you feel like an idiot when you ask him a question but I think it comes from him wanting you to do well. I would still recommend him because of how well he explains different topics.

Dr. Rieck is a tough professor but his way of teaching really helped me get through the material. The class is flipped, so you watch lecture videos and take mandatory notes to submit before lecture, then do actual problems during lecture. It's a lot of work and takes a lot of studying, but the assignments really help especially for the final.
