AWESOME TEACHER, great guy.. nice.. best teacher I've had
He is really nice.
AKA Doctor Quack. Makes the class interesting and fun! You won't get bored. Buy the study guide and you'll ace the tests.
DQ's a really good teacher. As long as you come to class you'll be prepared 4 d tests!the class isn't fly by class jus study and you'll do great!he keeps class interesting i would tke him for all my science classes it i could!!!!!
DQ is a hoot. He made Bio, the best class ever. If you can get past his Quacking-lame jokes, you will be fine. Just be prepared with a good sense of humor.
He's one of my more favorite professors EVER. His enthusiasm helps keep your attention. Sit at the front of the class and participate in discussions - he'll love you to pieces. The in-class assignments will determine your grade on the tests. Study them. Memorize them. BE THEM.
Toughest class I've ever taken. So happy I'm not medical major. Anyways, I've got to salute Doc Quack for teaching me more than I wanted to know. There were a lot of people who had trouble, but hang in there, study the in-class assignments and lecture questions and you'll do fine. I hardly find any of his jokes funny, but at least he tries. He taught me how to pay attention to the small stuff, which is important. The only problem for me was that he couldn't memorize my first name.
He gives quizzes almost every day. His tests are not a breeze, but you can avoid failing or getting back scores if u just take the time to go over your notes and in class assignments..just be prepared. he's a funny guy with a sense of humor..that's what kept me in his class.
He's a total goof, but makes class very interesting!!! I would totally take him.....I had him like 5 years ago and still know that the Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and that the Liver is the gatekeeper of blood!!!
Doc Quack was an awesome teacher. He will be greatly missed. If you pay attention to the lectures and videos and well as do the in class assignments you should have no problem in his class. The games and skits you have to do actually DO help you learn. AWESOME! Thanks Doc Quack!
This class was easy as long as you went to class and studied the in class assignments.
DQ is a great teacher! He really makes it fun and does activities that make you remember the material. He is fair and honest. His class was awesome!
he makes biology fun and easy to understand
Dr. Quack makes it very clear what is expected, you just have to listen. He wants you to succeed. His passion for science keeps you listening. If you show up to class and study those in class assignments you will do well. I recommend him to everyone!
Excellent Professor! Dr. Quack is very passionate about biology and he really gets into teaching the class.
I had not taken a science class in 6 years, I had Dr. Quack Spring 08, I got a B. The class was fun, the teacher great, he can be particulare but he was helpful if i ever had a question. I reccomend him!
He is an amazing teacher. funny, nice... i love him, i wish i could take him again,,thank you doc quack....
I loved this class and was so sad that it ended! Doc Quack made the class so fun and his humor made me rember things better. He is a great teacher and you as a student would be lucky to have him as a teacher. He dosen't try to trick you he lets you know what he wants you to study, and then it is up to you to follow through. I HIGHLY reccomend him!
I came in to Doc Quacks class scared of Biology, and left with a great wealth of knowledge. He makes it fun and intersesting. I want to take other classes he teaches even though I don't need them, because I had so much fun and learned so much!! TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Dr. Quack is difficult yes but a very god teacher. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do well! If you follow through and study you should be fine. No room for slacking in this class. Great teacher, great guy! I would recommend him highly:)
Dr. Quack is a fantastic teacher because he is passionate and involves the whole class. We watched cool videos and played funny games to help us remember the material. He is the best bio teacher ever, and anyone who takes his class will come out loving biology with new perspectives. Complete the golden rods, those are the quizes and exams!
Dr. Quack is a great teacher! He is very clear in his expectations. He has a lot of passion for the field and makes this class fun and interesting. Study your goldenrod's and lab vocab for the quiz's if you expect to do well. If extra credit is offered sign up early and for the first date otherwise you may miss out.
Have no fear, Dr.Quack is here. Biology could and would never be interesting if you didn't have a professor like him. Totally gets you into the material your learning and is very clear about what he expects. He is fair, fun, and a very enthusastic teacher. Definitely do your best to get him and do your best in the class.
Dr. Quack is a lot of fun. I learned so much in his class and have a new found love and respect for Biology. He's clearly very passionate about Biology and shares that with his students. His class is not boring, but if you're more into the mainstream lecture only, this class is not for you.
Doc Quack was hands down one of the most enthusiastic teachers I have ever met!He is very knowledgeable about Biology and makes learning fun.Its better to join in on his antics because you learn more.Do all or if any extra credit projects, they pay off!Do every single GoldenRod handout and be a BOB! Strongly recommended!!
Doctor Quack is really enthusiastic but not the greatest teacher. Sometimes he taught thing incorrectly but will teach you a lot. It's a hard class but not totally realistic.
He has a messed up attitude that interferes with his teaching. He knows the subject matter but that is all the good comments I can give him. Many of his test questions are controversial because he will want you to explain the subject even thou the question just say label. It is almost impossible to get a question answered in class and office hours.
Was one of the worst teachers I've ever had in college. his tests are extremely hard. You can study the golden rods you fill in yourself and if you study the anwser you wrote and its not how he wanted it worded and its a right anwser he'll mark it wrong! take my advice DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
I enjoyed Dr. Quack's class and yes it was hard, but he brings a lot of passion and humor to the class! There is a lot to learn and the "golden rods" are the key to doing well on the tests. He made me want to learn and I never missed a class or lab. Just study, do the extra credit and come to class...you'll enjoy him as a professor and the jokes!
Doc Quack is a great teacher. He is tough, but for good reason because he wants his students to succeed. If you have a question he will always answer you, but be firm and don't take his teaching for granted!
Go to every class & lab, take notes, do the goldenrods of fun & you'll do fine. I've always loved Biology, & it was great to learn it from a professor that is so passionate about the subject. In addition to learning bio, you learn great games to play at parties, songs to sing, and you'll be giving great informative talks at your next dinner party!
Great teacher, enthusiastic about what he teaches. I enjoy his class, it is a lot of work you need to study. He's always willing to help, just ask.
Great teacher. Firm, but you will learn the subject thoroughly, excellent teaching style and approach. Field experience within Biology, vast amount of knowledge.
He's a great teacher and you can tell he is highly interested in bio. I recommend you do all the golden rods and ONLY study those for the tests! They are word for word in the test (nothing else) he is helpful when he feels like it. Just push for help even if he seems grumpy. There is work and studying involved in this class.
Doc Quack is a GREAT professor! He is super fun and makes class very interesting. I cant say enough great things about him! Bio 31 in general is a difficult course but with effort you will succeed! Study his golden rods and come to class and you will be just fine! Its a blast and you learn so much with him! I highly recommend taking this class!!
I did well in the class but not because of his wonderful teaching. He's rude and not helpful at all. He is a horrible teacher who does not belong in a classroom. Dr. Quack needs to stick to his day job.
WARNING: he is not an easy teacher! If you are slacker you definitely won't like him. He does not baby his students. BUT if you are willing to work for your grade he is AWESOME! He is HILARIOUS and you can tell that Biology really is his life and he LOVES it. It is always inspiring to have a teacher who truly loves their subject, and he def does!
This professor is the worst! He's very rude and not helpful at all. He rushes you through the lectures and gets mad when you ask him a question even when his syllabus states to ask questions. Very confusing professor and disappointed I took him for bio.
Great teacher, knows his stuff. He is a wildlife biologist, so he has hands on information. The class is hard, but you do learn. He gives out questions to practice and his lecture notes are great too.
Dr. Quack is a wonderful teacher. I took him a year ago, and now realize that I should have appreciated him more. He really teaches the material in a way that you can remember. As I've taken more science classes, I realize that I am one of the lucky ones that actually learned the basis of all Science with Dr. Quack. Thank you Dr. Quack!!!!!!!!
Doc Quack is a very interesting guy. His stories and perspective keep you interested in lecture, lab is also bearable albeit lengthy. I didn't care much for biology, however he is slowly converting me to take interest in science. He gives out study guides (known as golden rods) and his tests are based 90% on them. Learn them and succeed! He's cool.
Doc Quack is an awesome professor! I'm not sure why his easiness rating is so low - he does EVERYTHING to help his students succeed in his class! His energy is like no other, and his lectures are really organized and well put together. I wish he taught more courses! I'd take him for everything, he's a great guy.
Doc Quack is easily the best teacher I've had at las positas! Even for non science majors he make biology interesting and easy to understand. His lectures are easy to follow and he's super high energy about them. You basically determine your own grade since he gives such clear study guides and offers extra credit projects. You definitely get what you put into his class. Overall he's a super great teacher and I wish there were more classes he was teaching that would fit my schedule!
Dr. Quack is my favorite science teacher. I've always hated science and was dreading the class. He made Biology very interesting and entertaining as well. He does speed through his lectures so I recommend typing your notes. I also recommend doing the extra credit at the beginning of the semester. I didn't use the textbook and DO the study guides.
very nice teacher!! he doesn't go off the text but off his notes. he is wonderful in explaining how the body works and gives lots of animal examples to help clarify and help you remember. I wish he taught anatomy I WOULD SO TAKE HIM AGAIN!! work hard study everyday and you can achieve an A.
Quack is the BOMB! He is so helpful and it is fun to learn in class. He doesn't hand out As because you need to work for it! I am preparing to become a teacher and I would be happy to be as awesome as him. Tips: Go to class, take notes, pay attention, and if you have trouble go to his office hour!! I would definitely recommend him to everyone!!
Doc Quack really knows his stuff and is enthusiastic while teaching it, which honestly helped me not fall asleep especially cause it was a night class. His class is pretty easy; it's basically what I learned in high school if not less, which I will use in my teaching career. I didn't use the book but show up, take note, and you'll be fine.
Fast paced lectures. He has a rule of either saying it three times or having it in red on the powerpoint saying"hey is that in red?"Or"I've said that three times haven't I?"I don't recomend going to his office hour for to many questions. Just know everything on the goldenrods andor everything he emphasized. Extra credit is limited, sign up fast.
Lectures are fast paced and filled with information Bio 10 students don't need to know. Studying for his tests are hard because he doesn't directly tell you what you need to know. Don't go to his office hours because he doesn't like answering questions. I only recommend this professor if you have extensive biology knowledge prior to taking bio 10
Doc Quack explains biology in a way that is easy to understand. Expectations are fair and clear. He has a great easy-going personality and will also help you outside the classroom with anything that you need. He sincerely cares about his students and helps them succeed. I would love to take his class again, even for fun, because he is that awesome!
Dr Quack's a class act, organized, convey all the materials & runs a planned format. BIO 10 is part of viticulture degree. Home works where a great focus tool. Lab rookies struggled at first but by midterm our knowledge base was evident. If you attend every class, read chapters ahead, take good class notes & study then you will have fun & do well.
Doc Quack is a truly inspirational professor. His knowledge of the world of Biology and many sub fields of Biology is unmatched. In my academic experience, 90% of the instructors use the "Teach to Test" approach. Meaning, the subject matter is not retained after the test. Not in this class, Doc Quack really helps you retain the material presented.
Dr. Quack has great enthusiasm for biology and his lectures are engaging. He shows lots of animal videos so pay attention because they do show up on the final. If anything, know about all the animals he lectures about because he places a lot of emphasis on them. Hardly used the book. Doesn't give clear expectations on what you will be tested on.
If your the type of student who only gets good grades off of test and Pop quizzes this is the class for you. Unless he sees the whole class failing, he WONT give any study guides or what he calls them goldenrods. He doesn't give any hw or study guides. Goes way to fast in lectures and basically your on your own. I would not take him to be honest.
Doc Quack is great. This is a hard class--but Doc tells you everything you need to know, and what to focus on when studying. He is always available. If you don't show up to lecture and do not follow the readings, it's going to be difficult for you. Doc is enthusiastic about biology and always manages to find ways to make his lectures entertaining.
Doc Quack is a phenomenal professor! His personality makes Bio interesting, he's passionate about the subject & hilarious. Your grade relies on how much you study and is based off of quizzes, lab practicals & tests (no HW). Read the book! Don't expect to get a good grade without putting effort in. Lecture is fast paced. Gained alot from this class.
Doc Quack was super tough in the beginning however towards the end of the semester he loosened up and was actually a really cool guy! He gave us study guids 2 of 4 tests which basically tells you everything that is going to be on the test. You must STUDY. Tons of information to absorb but Dr Quack makes it fun and interesting for sure! DO THE EC!
Doc quak is the best!! He definitely has a passion for biology and he makes it interesting . No homework, class mainly consits of quizes and tests. He sometimes gives study guides just depends on if you need it. You need to study for the test, if you dont study you will not pass. Tests are fairly easy if you study. Always willing to help you.
Doc Quack is hilarious and is very passionate about biology! He's a wildlife biologist and has a TON of knowledge!! He gives golden rods which are typically the test! Study those and your notes and you'll be okay on the exams. Sometimes he tries to scare you with a pop quiz but they are usually easy and you will learn a lot from this class!
Has really long lectures and he goes super fast. Really though grader, wants word for word answers. Will give a quiz at least once a week.
Dr. Quack is passionate about two things... biology and teaching. He is a wildlife biologist by profession and brings real world biology into the classroom. He gives clear cut directions as to what he wants you to learn. When taking notes use a highlighter and you will be fine. Don't understand? Just ask and he will take the time to explain.
Hes extremely passionate about biology. Going to class is vital to passing and highlighting your notes is helpful. He goes fast during lectures, so pay attention. Gives golden rods which are basically the tests so if you do them, you should be fine. No homework at all and quizzes were only in the beginning of the semester. NOT an easy A.
his lectures go very fast and if you're not a fast note taker you're screwed. Also your only grades are test, quizzes, and practicals so if you get one bad grade it's really hard to bring your grade up
Doc Quack is a wonderful professor. He's a certified wildlife biologist, loves biology, and wants you to love biology too. Go to lab, he makes lab really cool! Tough grader, looks for complete answers. Gives out lecture-based golden rods, must know them frontwards and backwards! Also pay attention to animals he talks about, they show up on tests!
Tough class. Grades are only tests. Do the extra credit.
Great character! He really cares about the student's learning. His main focus is for you to walkout the class with some new knowledge so you can put it to use. Hilarious, really makes class enjoyable. I recommend not missing class because you get all you test information from lecture (which makes studying for test really easy).
Dr. Quack is a great professor, just be ready to do the work. Pay attention during class, the videos, and focus on the golden rods. He is tough but this is his passion, but be ready to learn, this won't be an easy class, but it's worth it.
Dr. Quack truely is a fantastic teacher. He is so passionate about biology and is ready to share his vast knowledge. He makes lectures fun, informative and interactive and makes the subjects easy to learn. He makes it his goal to get to know every student and relates biology to their major. Highly recommend if you want to learn and have fun!
Doc Quack single-handedly re-ignited my passion for science. Imagine a class taught by Frank Zappa meets Bill Nye and Ranger Rick, and I mean that in the best way. Expect to be challenged for sure; you will rack your brain studying for treacherous pop quizzes and midterms; he WILL prepare you if you pay attention and take good notes! Great class.
Dr. Quack wants each student to excel, but more than this, he actually wants you to learn the material and retain it. He gives vital material on study guides each week (that you must attend class to receive), but if the material is unclear and you visit during office hour, he will go over each sheet in detail to make sure you're ready.
Doc Quack is one of those rare professors that cares about his work, working for the EBRPD right before coming to teach his classes. And even still, he will make time for you. He wants students to succeed and asks everyone at the start of the semester what grade will you receive? Put in the effort and you will receive the A.
Dr. Quack is awesome! He's passionate about what he does and he genuinely cares about his students. I struggle immensely with science, but he worked with me and never once made me feel unintelligent. He makes his lectures understandable for everyone and answers all questions you might have. Genuinely a teacher who caress and loves what he does :)
His lectures are all over the place. Youll have notes for them. But the notes are also all over the place because he is as well. Hes very animated but can also be very dry and borderline mean. He doesnt like it when you ask questions in class. Sometimes he would just be really condescending with a student and skip over their question.
I just feel terribly bad for the lack of following his materials. Hes great and has a really good sense of humor. Doc Quacks exams goes by the curve and thats something I couldnt shape up my grade. Grades are base on quizzes and exams, no hw require. Xtra credit are worth 10pts. Tough bio course.
He is a very lively and energetic professor. He gives Golden Rods that help you prepare for the test. Use them! Lab is not optional, show up! He makes every experiment fun and relevant to the subject matter. According to Doc Quack you must "live, sleep, and dream Biology" to get an A in this class. Basically, work hard :)!
I was under the impression that he was a tough but good professor while reading his reviews from other students. He's really condescending and hates if you ask too many questions. He does not like repeating answers, and if you didn't hear him the first time, tough luck cause he sure as hell ain't repeating it the second time.
Don't take this professor unless you have no option. Even then put it off till next semester. His grading style's unclear, he will not answer additional questions and displays favoritism towards the students he prefers. Most of the time it's ladies he's showing favoritism towards. He does not like interacting or teaching, and yet he is a professor.
I knew he would be tough but this was the hardest class I had ever taken. He is unreasonable, unapproachable, and not understanding. He will put you down, make you feel dumb if you ask too many question, and actually call you out in front of the whole class. If you need to take this class I would suggest you do it somewhere or with someone else.
I regret taking this professor. I love biology, but he makes it such a chore and stressful subject than it should be. Biology's a difficult course because of how much you need to memorize, but he makes this class so difficult that only the students he wants to succeed will succeed, and if you're not on his good side, he will put you down.
Great professor would take again!! Very caring and wants his students to succeed You just need to study and fill out the golden rods he gives. He wants You to pass You just have to study as Bio is a very intense course. With effort on Your part You can earn an A. Must have a textbook and show up to all classes and labs and Be ready to learn.
Hard. Makes you work. Overall good professor
Very interesting & funny teacher made bio enjoyable, but his unstructured style is only suited for intro classes. Hard to learn because his lectures are all over the place. Although I got an A I am not sure this class has set me up for success in future biology classes. Grading seems random. Test questions could be better instead of "who said this"
He obviously has a lot of enthusiasm when teaching, but this class single handedly made me despise biology. He goes against his own syllabus at times sometimes even answer the question asked. He wont let you ask questions before or after lecture and sometimes doesnt even show up in his office hours. Dont take this class if you want to have fun.
He is a very straight forward teacher, he gave out "golden rods" which are essentially study guides for his tests. What I found out at at the very end of class is that the tests are nearly identical to the golden rods. If you're able to memorieze the golden rods you will get at least a 90% on the tests, remember the animals he mentions they show up
Inspired me to like biology. You have to work hard to earn your "A" grade. He has an awesome personality, at first he has his guard up, eventually if you make conversation with him you see he's a great person. He cares for his students. Gives opportunities for extra credit. The Golden Rods best invention!!! Always has an answer for a question.
Looking for an easy "A" move along, but if you enjoy learning and putting in the effort to earn your grade take this class! He is FUNNY, charismatic and full of knowledge on the subject. He offers support when needed and always available during office hours. The Golden Rods are amazing. Don't be late, stay engaged and have a blast learning Biology!
Great Professor, very fair, straight forward. Golden rods are KEY. He is a life experienced person, and does not live in an academic bubble. Gives very fair opportunities for extra credit. Being an older person I found this very refreshing. DO NOT judge him prematurely , or get butthurt, he can be a little guarded at first . Gifted professor.
He made us use "golden rods" that are supposed to be study guides for the exams but hardly anything was the same. He made rude comments towards students in the class sometimes. Saw him at office hours a few times and he helped there but still didn't help much. Took the class with someone else and I passed with an A! Do not recommend.
Professor Riensche is a well-respected professor. He expects you to show up to his lectures and then go home and study the topics given during lecture.
This Professor is AMAZING! He is the best Professor I've ever had, lectures are so fun and was never bored. He gives weekly GoldenRods (not required to be filled out) that are exact questions as exams (same format + short videos he shows halfway through lectures) Took him in the summer and he still gave us an extra credit opportunity worth 20 pts.
This teacher is good but he is very tough. Classes are heavy lecture and if you ask a question he makes a face before he answers it. He scared one of my other friends who also took his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU WON'T PUT IN THE WORK!!!! I cannot stress that enough... grade is heavily based on quizzes, and tests. Make sure you study A LOT!!!
This class is definitely way more difficult than it seems at first. Tests are graded on an all or nothing for questions worth up to 10 points (out of 50). With how few things are graded, tiny mistakes can really cost you your grade, as can missing any time in class. If you miss a test even for medical reasons you get a 0 with no chance for makeups.
his class would be ok if he gave partial credit, but if it's not exactly how he wants you don't get any credit. he's a tough grader and his grading system is by points so tests and quizzes aren't worth more. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU'RE NOT READY TO WORK!!
Don't be fooled by the "for liberal arts" attached to this course. It is complex, and note/lecture-heavy. I highly suggest using a laptop to type out the lecture notes because he goes through topics SO QUICKLY if you can fulfill your lab credits another way I would!
very fast paced class. hes a tough grader coming from a straight a student. test heavy class without much hw. his tests are difficult. he does provide extra credit and golden rods tho. he is funny and passionate ab the subject. i just dont think his teaching style is for me bc it feels like the class is harder than it needs to be.
Doc Quack's class is very straightforward. He gives weekly golden rods which are basically the exact same as the tests. If you memorize the Golden Rods and the short videos he shows in class you are almost guaranteed an A on all tests. He is quite funny and interesting and offers a ton of extra credit.
Great professor! Very passionate about the lectures and makes them funny. It's a lot of memorization, but if you stick with the goldenrod you will do fine. Take the extra credits!!!!
This guy is awesome! You can definitely spend a lot less time studying for tests than you would be doing homework, which he didn't give. Expand on the Golden Rods a little bit but don't work yourself up over the amount of information he shares. He really cares about the subject and made class a good time.I always looked forward to going.
Professor Riensche's BIO10 is challenging, but engaging if you put in the work. The golden rods and study sessions are key - plus unstuck ai is a great tool for test prep. Attend class, take good notes, and you'll likely do well.
Look it up online he has murdered cats and is loopy in the head don't take classes with animal abusers as professors. Also extremely unprofessional with his students and has anger issues. Shocked he's still allowed to be employed.
I genuinely cannot begin to describe my hate for this professor. The amount of information he introduces in every lecture is astronomical considering it is a 1 hour lecture. And he doesn't spend enough time explaining his subject considering the amount of new terms and concepts we have to know by heart. DO NOT take this class.
Very lecture heavy, doesn't expand on new concepts so you have to research them yourself out of class to understand. However, he is very passionate about his subject and makes it easy to not fall asleep during lecture. Lab is almost completely independent but don't feel afraid to ask questions or for help. Golden rods are essential to succeeding.
His classes are very lecture heavy, however the content is not very complicated as long as you spend a bit of time outside solidifying your knowledge on the topics through videos. Quack's lectures are genuinely hilarious and keep you awake, and labs are almost completely independent, but don't be afraid to ask! Golden rods are key to tests!
Whenever I would come to school I wished I got ran over. He grades so HARSHLY, hes so lecture heavy and he doesnt even explsin the material + grades by a couple things so if you dont do good on tests youre screwed. Hes also not understanding and rude. I hated this class so much. His golden rods dont even help at all on the tests. Do NOT take him
