GREAT TEACHER!!! Really wants students to succeed. Helps out alot. Go to class, he gives lots of random in class extra credit
Made chemistry easier to understand, is very concerned with students' comprehension of material rather than memorization, gives EC and curves tests, fair but material can be difficult. Will take time to answer any questions, very helpful and kind. I wish I could take him for all of my science classes!
Very boring and disorganized. He does not answer your emails. It was very difficult to drag myself to this class. He practically has killed my interest in Chemistry - try to take Hampton instead if you actually want to learn something.
Very down to earth instructor who loves to teach chemistry. I would reccommend this class to others who have half brain and take their course work seriously.
Practice quizes are very important. Teacher keeps it pretty simple. Curved the summer grades, so getting a good grade was easy. Started class late too much in the beginning of the semester. When he's not exhausted, his sense of humor helps keep you interested, but not fun for an early lecture.
he does the thing where he will be talking and he pauses so that the class can fill in the blank& gets mad if class doesnt respond
really nice best chem prof at ucf hands down, yea he gets mad if he does the fill in the blank but the guy is really cool I got an A with an 84.5 he curves to help you out, give him a chance!!!
He is so not a hard professor, just study... I got a B, and I failed one of his tests, he really works with you, and I think he's a cutie.
Structed class but if you attend all lectures it is easy. Every Thursday there is a test covering the lecture before. Very helpful if needed.
DO NOT take this 730 chem class- You'll want to rip your head off. Boring but easy quizzes and tests. Feel free to snooze a bit but make sure you still study the WORKBOOK..the text doesn't help at ALL. Just study and you'll do fine.
Helpful instructor, will assist you if you need help. Has a lot of patience for whiny students
Nice guy, good teacher. The 7:30 AM class is brutal though...take it later if possible. Make sure you read the book, go to class, and study.
very poor teaching methods. he's not clear on anything and he teaches. he gave us a quiz one time and none of the right answers were on the overhead. do not take this man, especially at 7:30 in the morning!
Waking up at 730 for this class made me contemplate suicide. Chemistry itself is hard but this guy made it impossible. The material wasnt that hard but he made it so comfusing an dthe weekly quizzes were horrible. Everyone in the class was confused and I cant comprehend what comes out of this guys mouth. He's weird, don't take him you will regret i
Not clear at all. takes a while to respond to emails. do not take him. very inclear on what will be on the final. you dont know what to study.
Early class, material is difficult but instrutor is very helpful. Instrutor puts the content in everyday terms that you can understand. Students who think this class is hard should consider a career in basket-weaving or envelope licking.
This teacher was a nice guy and seemed to know what he was talking about, just didn't exactly know how to teach it. When he did problems on the overhead, he didn't seem to sure what came next... wouldn't recommend him if you need an A in chemistry.
Very food instructor, although need to go to office to cover problems!
Helpful instructor, assumes you have no prior background and approaches each student with respect. Be ready to work, he will expect you to particpate in lectures.
Early class which I almost never went to--gives quizzes every Thursday which hurt your grade if missed. He gives good reviews, but the material on the reviews isn't ever on the tests EXCEPT for the final--word for word from the review.
Very nice guy, and he tries to help you. He gives examples of whats going to be on upcoming exams. The final was much easier than i thought it would be and he curves.
He is a good teacher and gives practice exams that are practically identical to his actual exams and if you need extra help he is willing to help you. It was the easiest chem. class I have ever taken. I have him again for chem. 2045
if you take this class prepare to be confused .. it starts off all easy and then all of a sudden you will be lost even if you go to every class..the whole class went to tutorin b/c no one knew what was going on ... you need to go to EVERY class b/c there r quizzes every thurs...he basically pulled our grades out of thin air
Let me just say that Roberts is definitely the EaSiEsT chemistry teacher at UCF! I got an A in his class, and I had it at 7:30 in the morning and I barely ever went! The only way you can do bad in this class, is if you're a complete idiot. It's not hard at all! BUT...make sure you are on top of things in the end!
His class was easy. He's really cool. You'll get an easy A in his class if you do all his quizzes and tests (he also gives you lots of practice quizzes and tests online). He also gives you extra credit!! I had trouble studying for his tests (bcuz i work) but managed to pull off a B in the end. His class was boring cuz i dislike chemistry.
I'm sorry, but he can't teach 2045 for his life. He gets impatient with the littlest whispers, and when the test average is a 55, he thinks it's because we're all incompetent. He needs to take the stick out of his ass, learn to teach, and take some responsibility.
Dont take this guy for CHM 2045. I am a hard studier and I am finding this class to be difficult because nothing is explained clearly. Read the book it is the only way you will learn anything, but still not enough to pass his test. He does give extra credit, but thats not going to really help me when I go to CHM2046!
Taking his 2045 class is a nightmare! He's a terrible teacher-cant explain things. When he does problems he makes careless errors and speeds through them. If you are unfortunate enough to get him, read text book. Oh, and his tests are terrible too... gives you too many questions and not enough time to do them.
Very Helpful and concerned about student's progress.
People need to stop whining! I took hampton before and failed miserably, i have a 106% in this class right now after 2 tests, quizes, etc. He gives lots of EC, tests come straight from his lectures, and he tells you whats on them. If you want a teacher that makes tests out of thin air, take Hampton. If you want a guy who has easy tests.Take Roberts
you guys are crazy whoever said this guy was a good teacher is out of their mind hes horrible doesnt know what hes talking about goes to fast makes so many mistakes on his own slides id say 95 percent of our class failed!!! hes horrible stay away!!!
I took him for 1032, he was very caring and easy I got a High B. So I took him for 2045 and he became horrible! he wasn't very helpful, his lectures sucked/boring, quizzes/tests were horrible. I took the first test, and I got a F so I withdrew. Take him if you can teach yourself Chemistry.
Dr. Roberts should not even have a teaching position. His lectures are unclear, hell he can't even add..He makes so many mistakes and can't understand why the whole class is trying to correct him. The class is harder than it has to be, and the tests reflect it even more. AVOID THIS TEACHER!
Real Easy Just read the book He has trouble teaching physics and any math questions. But do all the questions in the book and you'll pass
Do not take him for any Chem class. He is terible. Very unclear about everything. Nice guy though.
alot of work for not a huge payout... Tests are nothing like samples, quizzes, or lectures. Had an A in the class due to pure luck and lots of extra credit, and then failed the**** outta the final. Brought me a 78.5% but Roberts was amazing enough to give me the B. Love him for that, hate him for chemistry.
By far one of the worst professors I have ever had. His practice exams have nothing to do with the tests, and neither does what he teaches. He never answers e-mails, and has so many problems with his practice problems. His lectures are confusing and has erronous examples. Everything I learned, I tought myself. Avoid this teacher if possible!!!!!!!!
he doesnt know what he is talking about! sometimes when ppl ask ?s it seems like he makes up the answers. only take him if u r good in chem! I got an A but didnt learn much from him. i taught myself & learned in lab from the TA. do the practice tests & quizzes bc he reuses some ?s.
Not to good at teaching IMHO, read and you'll be fine. Don't worry to much he magically curved and almost everyone passed. 30% of the people got As too.
Not a very good professor, but he does curve in the end. I'm just mad because I received a 76.8, a 77 being a B, and he won't give me the B. I don't really understand that because he was the one who taught us about rounding numbers for sigfigs. Take someone else, or read the book. Never know how well you're doing because he doesn't tell you.
I heard that he was good for 1032, but for 2045 I recommend finding an easier teacher. He does curve grades. He seems nice and wants to help but im not sure that he understands students questions all the time. Definitely go to class as well as reading the book and doing the practice problems and examples in the book if you plan on taking him
Not a very good teacher but might be your best bet. 2 of my friends had a different teacher for the same class and failed her but passed this guy. He cant articulate what he’s trying to say or answer question well, but quizzes and tests are multiple choice and he curves in the end. deff take if you remember chem from highschool
Not a bad teacher, but definitely study the materials well. He asks harder questions than you'd expect, but I ended up with a B in the class with minimal effort. I'd recommend him, but only if your a chem or other science major with SOME interest in the material.
This guys is really unorganized, cannot bring his point across and his exams are much more difficult than his practice exams. He does curve in the end, but seriously I would not recommend taking him, especially if you need to take more chemistry classes.
Lectures do not prepare you for his tests, if you want to do well in this class be prepared to read the book and teach yourself the material.
Didn't think he was a bad professor. Had to study for his tests, but they were straight forward questions. Helpful when asking questions and reviewing the paper assignment.
An "A" is realistic for non-science majors. We only covered the 1st 5/20 chapters in the bk. He cannot communicate ideas, so I didn't learn anything nor did I want to because I hate/suck @chemistry. He's nice; wants students to do well. The class seemed to have a liberal "save the environment" undertone; all we talked about was global warming.
i took his summer chm 1020 class and im not kidding i went to 4 classes total (including the 2 test) and i got an A. I learned nothing and knew nothing. he's a horrible teacher cant explain anything to save his life but apparently knowledge is not neccessary in this class considering that i got an A. take him but dont waste your time in class.
Confusing and gets frustrated when people don't understand him
jumps around too much in the book cant keep up. cant explain things very well doesnt break it down. he's to smart for his own good. dont go w/o being prepared. he gets fustrated when you dont get what hes talking about. i was lost through out most of the semester. i do not recommend this prof.
Oh God. Do not take Roberts, ESPECIALLY if Chemistry is not your thing. Chem beginners, BEWARE!! If you're a natural at Chem, take him if he's the ONLY option left. He is too disorganized, gives crappy notes, and you can't follow his lectures in the book.
His notes are not helpful, if youre trying to learn DO NOT take this class. Wait for a better teacher, be ready to reteach yourself all of the material, he doesnt lecture anything similar to the book. ONLY lectures on the math part of chemistry and it makes no sense. Doesnt go over test questions or review. JUST DONT DO IT
dont do it! youll regret every second of it. trust me. save yourself before its too late. i wish i had.
I'm not overreacting when I say this man is a moron. Notes are unorganzied and never correct, tests do no correspond to lecture, labs do not follow lecture, he is not helpful in class nor office hours, and he exudes superiority. Disrespects students. If you must take this class, go to the SI sessions as much as possible.
this guy is a moron. students would argue with him on a daily basis. he would post notes online then use other notes telling us he wont post the notes he used. the third test the whole class failed because he didnt teach us anything that was on the test. if you take him, read the book because he wont teach you anything. he curves in the end.
I agree with most of the other postings. While Dr. Robert's is a pretty nice guy, he really isn't that knowledgeable. If you need a good teacher to learn your subject don't take him. In Chem two lab we all made fun of the lab's he wrote because there were so many errors we really couldn't complete or take anything out of them.
DR. ROBERTS IS A NICE GUY, BUT HIS TEACHING METHOD NEEDS TO BE ALTERED. HE LACKS AN ABILITY TO LINK HIS TEST AND HIS CLASS LECTURE. IF YOU MUST TAKE THE CLASS, GO TO SI AND SARC.... ONCE HE LINKS THE TESTS TO THE CLASS NOTES, HE'LL BE A GOOD TEACHER...
Good instructor, you must be able to think outside of the box for his class. Freshman students should be warned, he's not going to spoon feed the idiot masses.
Good professor, must work hard. Does not cater to pandering freshman
Greeat Instructor
Professor Roberts has an incredibly scattered style of teaching. I'm in a beginning chemistry class yet he has covered none of the fundamental basics that are necessary, he just jumps from topic to topic with no obvious pattern and expects you to understand.
I'm a decent student and I'm here to say that Roberts is the worst professor I have ever had. He mispells easy words on the board, tells the class to shut up, rolls his eyes at student questions, and makes sarcastic comments. And I'm not even talking about his skills teaching yet! He has none. Period. He doesn't follow through with what he sa
Really bad teacher, does not explain the basic theory for the understanding of chapters. Does not cover material very well and every single test/quiz are full of mistakes!! If you haven't taken chemistry for a while, DO NOT take him!!
Hard and comprehensive
An unforunate side of the sciences is that there are many professors who are really smart but are utterly useless in passing that knowledge on to others; Roberts is one of them (though "smart" would b way too generous). Very disorganized & frequently screwed up on examples. If you can, take Chem I with some one else!
smart but can't teach students
Horrible teacher, avoid him if at all possible. He is extremely unclear and makes no sense in his lectures. His tests are inconsistent with what is taught in class. IF you must take this class, take Carl Rogers for you lab teacher. He is really cool :)
VERY unorganized, cant get his point across to save his life, and don't bother asking questions in lecture, because he only confuses you more by completely misunderstanding your question.seems like he has good intentions, just very confusing and not a good teacher. when i went to his office hours he wasnt there. would NOT recommed him at all
Good teacher, but you must do a lot of leg work.
Professor Roberts is the worst teacher I've had since coming to UCF...he seemed dislexic to me and the only way I did good in the class was by going to SARC. He does give out sample tests which are almost identical to the actual tests but he is just a horrible teacher.
roberts is a very nice guy. if you are confused, he will help you. see him during his office hours. he is inconsistent with testing and quizzing. class is not easy if you don't bother to study.
OK hes not the greatest. He tries his best but struggles to convey even the simplest topics. He does however put a HUGE curve on the grade on the end. I'd say take him because theres going to be no one better. You want an A? Read the book.
prof roberts is one of the nicest teachers i have ever had. he is so helpful and nice so you can't ever complain about being confused if you don't do anything about it.
Good teacher and extremely helpful. Hard to understand at times but gets better later. The class is extremely tough at first but gets better at the end. You learn a lot from Chemistry in his class. He gives people a chance to come back in his class by curving some of the tests. If you study decent amount you should get an A.
He knows the material but can not clearly teach it to the class. i didn't go to class often but i went to SARC and SI sessions and got an a. Those will help you better in the class than his teaching.
dear lord. i stopped going to class after i realized he can't teach. though i was going to fail but i magically ended up with a B. i wanted to learn the material, but his lectures are nothing like the exams or anything else. dont take him if you want to prepare for higher chem classes.
He can be very random with his notes by skipping all over the subjects that you are supposed to learn. He lets you have a cheat sheet for tests. If you know some chemistry and try hard to pass you will most likely get an A in the class. It wasn't as bad of a class as I thought.
Great class!
stay away from this teacher if you are looking to take higher chem classes. the dude knows what he is talking about but he definitely can't teach it. i never used the $200 book. go to SI or SARC very often and you will do well.
Professor Roberts really cared about your success in his class. He always held office hours twice or more a week, which i recommend. I went to SI about 3 times a week as well and i got an A. His class is not a cake walk. You have to work hard to learn.
WARNING! This man CANNOT TEACH!!!!!!!!! He had very little patience in class and invited people to come to his office for extra help but was NEVER there during his posted office hours!!!!! The material was very difficult to learn and understand plus with a bad teacher it was that much worse. Tests were much more in depth than his lectures and re
Would NOT recomment this teacher! Material was from higher level chem courses, very unfair. Times quizes online every week w/ very few questions. Going to tutoring is a must if you want to pass. He needs to find another job. Take anyone but him for this class!!! This is by far one of the worst classes I've ever taken, high stress!!
I have him in high school. He is awful, goes over one problem and expects us to know all of them. Tests are hard and difficult. Only positive is the ec, which is still hard.
Currently at SCC. Good grade possible if you attend class and work out problems on your own. Was not very proficient in teaching class. Stated incorrect information often, was not able to demonstrate examples clearly. Be sure to keep your graded assignments as he tends to incorrectly enter them in the gradebook.
AWESOME!!!
Good instructor. Positives outweigh negatives, knows materials, expects students to do the same. HS student mentality will get you nowhere fast . Get back on your moms nip
Very kind and cool guy! He wants you to succeed and makes the class as smooth as possible. I highly recommend taking him for this class. As long as you pay attention in class, do the assignments and extra credit, you could still receive an A with getting low B's on the tests.
He doesn't clarify topics very good. He tries hard to make everyone understand the material, but all he does is confuse people. A pretty nice person and funny in class, but just leaves you confused. Plus how he words his tests are awful. You have to teach yourself and try in this class.
Professor Roberts gives A LOT of extra credit. Although he does not explain himself very well, he tries to make sure everyone is on the same page. He's pretty funny. This class can be a breeze if you read the assigned book and attend all the lectures.
He's a little quirky but such a kind man. He does not explain himself well but he offers so much extra credit that I ended up with an A. He put some tests online so they were fairly easy. Got a 100 on the final. I skipped class very often and did not use the textbook. Don't take if you really need to learn this subject!
He's confusing. He's a really nice guy though, don't get me wrong. Chemistry is a hard subject to teach. I ended up getting a 94.5% in this class. We had our last 3 exams including the final online. They were all pretty much easy. He really wanted to help everyone out! I'm happy I didn't drop his class! Easiest class I had this semester!
He really does try, but often makes mistakes in his lecture. He likes to be asked questions. He doesn't really go over the basics which are critical for everything in Chemistry. Also you never use the text book. Everything is online mostly through webcourses.
EASIEST CHEM CLASS EVER. GOT A'S ON ALMOST EVERYTHING AND HE GIVES SOOOO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. He gives practice tests before tests && my final was online! SO EASY!!!
The professor was great! Relatively hard class made easy by great professor. He is brand new but is much better than the other choice of professor we had.
Really nice guy. His lectures are all about the problems not much theory. Discussion class is the one he actually goes over stuff and explains well. He really tries and shows he cares. Most of the assignments and exams are online. Easy class to pass, but if you really wanna learn is up to you.
Awesome guy, I took the time to talk to him before class sometimes. He's kinda spacey and all over the place but he makes sure you fully understand something before he moves on. He really cares and if you show him respect he will help you with anything. Stay for the whole class, when he sees people dip he gives extra credit. A lot is online!
Extremely easy A. Took him Fall semester 2014 and he gave us practice tests online which were exactly like the actual exams most of the time. Show up to class because he gives extra credit. Two of his exams including the final were online. Final replaces lowest test score. Don't need the book at all.
