This guy is still new to the game. Assigns way more pointless work than other teachers, threatens quizzes. See Oliver, Emily I highly recommend her!!! If you just want a teacher that is dry, no jokes, bland, take him. He was a **** at times. He was a last minute replacement for the course.

about halfway through rossman's class and learning a ton. he doesn't just lecture at you but the class is more like a discussion. has us looking at important things, current events and speeches. only time i've heard him rude is when people talk during a speech or during discussions, and they deserved it!!

Awesome professor!! This was probably my favorite class and it was my three hour class! Professor Rossman is a really funny guy, and definitely knows his stuff. We had four speeches and he graded them all fairly. Just listen in class and put effort into your speeches.

Take them seriously, he has certain criteria that needed to be met for a good grade. Really recommend him.

Great teacher! If you show up to class do the work and put effort into the speeches you will get an A even if you hate public speaking and speeches like I do. He's reasonable but is not a push over. He is very respectful of others opinions and makes class fun and easy to understand and helps reduce speech anxiety. Highly recommend taking this class

His writing assignments are short. Only wrote 1 essay for the end of the class. He's fair with grades. I loved his class! I recommend him to everyone!

Such a great Prof! He is very funny and makes the class interesting. One of the only Palm Beach classes I had where the students actually talked to each other. Grades speeches on outlines mostly, rather than on performance so if you have stage fright it's okay! He really helps his students

At first, I wasn't sure of the guy. I think it's hard to learn how to speak better from a class, but he's an extraordinary professor. He'll leave detailed and encouraging remarks on your outlines and they really do help, although he doesn't have the best handwriting but he's willing to give personal oral reviews. Overall, great class. No regrets!

I dreaded taking a speech class. I love the fact that we can pick whatever we wanted to speak about it makes you confident and a lot easier to research your topic! He is VERY helpful! a couple of quizzes NO tests. midterm and final are written responses. TAKE HIM!!!!

Awesome Professor! No tests, only quizzes and the midterm and final are easy A's. Go to class, be involved in the discussions and pay attention to what he says and you'll get an A. He's very clear about his expectations for each assignment, all you have to do is listen.

Great professor, this class will teach you how to be comfortable speaking in front of others. It is really a conversational class and there are 3 speeches with power points. The 1st is a group project which was good. Just do your work, speak up in class, and you will succeed in this speech class.

Participate!! He likes it when his students participate, plus it can affect your grade. He made this speech class very painless. Took it during the 6 weeks in summer and really enjoyed the class. No written tests except for the final. He doesn't require much out of you, just do what he asks for and it will be an easy A. Definitely a great prof.

His class is pretty easy as long as you can present well. Most of his assignments are opinion based. Never used the textbook. Most of the articles he had us read was sent through email. Very sarcastic. He would provide examples of outlines he wanted for assignments. Group work is graded individually which i liked.

Rossman is awesome and funny. Class is very easy if you just show up you will basically pass. Homework is a paragraph response about opinion on a topic he assigns. Expects participation in class and loves having discussions about any and every topic. Speech requirements are clearly outlined. Final exam was paragraph response to 10 questions.

Amazing teacher!! Super easy You only have 2 speeches a informational one and a persuasion and an easy take home final that you get to choose what questions you want to answer. As someone who has always been terrified of presenting, I thought this class would be a nightmare. This professor did everything in his power to make sure every student felt good about themselves and he'll work with you every step of the way. Two speeches and a take-home final. One of the best in PBSC! Makes public speaking a lot less intimidating. I enjoyed his class and learned a lot from them. This class is all about participation! Make sure to raise your hand and complete assignments (you have to basically give your opinion on articles, videos, etc). If you are in trouble, go to his office and he will help!

Professor Rossman is a wonderful educator and overall individual. For someone who was not all that interested in communications he made it very interesting and fun! He is open to all opinions and truly wants to hear what all of his students have to say. The content is very interesting and as long as you participate you will thrive in his class.

Super down to earth guy that understands life, class was good, short speech and 2 longer ones, only used the book at the very end of the semester .(I rented mine off amazon). show up and participate, and you'll be fine, Public Speaking isn't my strong suit but any effort you make he takes into consideration.

this was the first dual enrollment class I've ever taken and I was so nervous and truly scary because I hate speaking in front of people and writing things and he made this class so memorable and one of the best classes I think I've ever taken. He is a fantastic people person, knows exactly what to say and how to say it to get it across to students

As an engineering student, taking gen eds is excruciating but not with Rossman!! Hands down one of the most passionate professors I have ever had. He cares for everyone and wants to see you succeed. Make sure you go to class because it counts for 30% of your grade (learned the hard way).

He was a chill professor but did require you to work. Attendance matters because if you miss out on information he won't give you any pity. You do have to do presentations, at least two times, and participate in class. Homework assignments are given with the textbook but they're easy. You have to print everything out so have access to a printer.

I took this class virtually we did two speeches and then had a few other assignments that weren't very hard at all. He is a great professor and is always willing to help.

Rossman is really good at interacting with the class and makes the class enjoyable. Class isn't mandatory but it will take off of participation, which brings down your grade. He does not except any late work and give out no extra credit. But at the end of the course he allows you to make up any missing assignments for 1/2 credit.

Professor Rossman really pushed us to be great public speakers, we all got on zoom a presented our speech's and practiced everything he teaches you. Read the material, listen to the lectures, and post on the discussion board and you'll do great he is super chill.

Attendance not 100% mandatory if you participate when present. 2 speeches and a paper. Very easy stuff and he's really cool. Follow his templates exactly and you'll do fine. Remember to mention your citations in your speeches. Get creative.

Prof Rossman is probably one of the best professors Ive had. Hes super kind and understanding. You have to give a couple short speeches but he gives you more than enough time to prepare and about a handful of small assignments based on your own opinions. He is very open minded and always made me feel comfortable when presenting.

I dont write reviews, but this professor deserved one. I took him for speech communications and there are only 3 grades in the class: 2 speeches, and end of semester chapter journal. Teacher is really sweet and attendance isnt mandatory. Giving a speech seems scary but you get two practice speeches that dont count as a grade. Class is an easy A.

Great teacher. No complaints, I'm just not good at presentations due to stage fright so I played it safe and took this class live online. Everything about this class was pretty clear. not too much not too little work load. I was still a bit shaky but being online helped A LOT. He does try to make it comfortable. Not a hard grader either.

Great Prof, I took him for survey of communication. The semester was fun and the lectures were great, especially if you want a job in the communication field. The readings in the book are a bit long but he will help you through.

He's funny and helps you when you need it. He's responsive so you won't get unresponded emails. The presentations are quite simple and he walks you through them. The quizzes are after every lesson so don't miss them. you need to write 20 paragraphs 2 for every chap question by the end of the semester but he gives you time and the questions are easy

Do your speeches.there are like 3 + a final paper purely opinion based.Seriously, that's it.Follow the guidelines and example speeches he provides,participate in class discussions a few times, and actually GIVE YOUR SPEECH. He's not gonna force you to participate if you won't, up to u to volunteer to speak and get credit. Clearly very knowledgeable

Rossman was great. Three speeches, a paper, and participation grade. He is helpful and gives great feedback. He's patient with his students and will help you with your assignments. Just don't try to reach him on the weekends lol, he won't reply till Monday.

He can be sassy and aggressive in what he says at times, but his class is easy. He doesn't record live lessons, so you can't miss any, especially if your classmates don't communicate with you.

Great teacher. Very entertaining lectures and discussions. The class will make you think about yourself as a person often. Highly recommend

such a charismatic and friendly professor!! i genuinely enjoyed this course a great deal even though i was stressing over having to give speeches. as long as you show up to class you should be good. the only grades are 3 speeches (one to introduce yourself, one informative, and one persuasive), a midterm, a final, and participation

Rossman makes such interesting and cool lectures, the class is not very hard and not that interesting on itself, but he makes it fun through various activities. He's very eloquent and well-spoken, I'd take the class again if I didn't have to pay for it.

This was one of my favorite classes. Mostly consists of three speeches, an introduction speech, informative, and persuasive. Speeches arent long, and if anyone gets nervous he says "dont worry, you're with friends." I normally hate speeches, but everyone was in the same boat as me and i was very comfortable. He cares about his students.

Took his class for the Summer A term 2025. Dave is such an amazing professor, and he made his class quite literally unfailable. Due to his quick communication and awesome lectures, he is my favorite professor I have had so far. 100% take his class.
