I have never been interested in history but after this class I LOVED learning about any kind of history. He made it very interesting and gave us a book to read other than the typical textbook, "Lies my teacher told me" I really enjoyed his lectures (lots of those) although he talked a bit much about Atlanta which is where he went to college.
I loved this class! Mr. Ruskoski was so laid back and his lectures were very interesting. I'd recommend this class to anyone--he's a great teacher.
TAKE HIS CLASS, if you want to learn about history without being BORED by History this is the class for you. You have to read a book called Lies my Teacher told me, which really lets you know alot that you were never told growing up. His tests follow the lectures just listen. PS. NO BOOK NEEDED
Very insightful. Excellent teacher and brilliant man.
I absoultly hated history until this class!! If you are not a history lover this class may change your mind. And for all the haters on him are trippin!! He is so awesome
Hated history and still do. He is a good teacher and is extremely helpful. DOES NOT USE THE TEXTBOOK!!! Gives you great outlines and notes to help you. Keeps the class interesting.
Interesting class discussions, but tests were 35 Q and 6 essay questions which only required you to write like 2-5 sentences. Tests Q were multiple choice, hard to know what to study, so much information for only 35 Q. No notes during tests. Also read "Lies my teacher told me" which is an intersting but long read. quizzes 10 Q multi choice.
Mr. Ruskoski is awsome. I really learned a lot from his class. He is a great teacher. His class is very easy. Read your review sheets he gives out and you will pass your test. I made A's on all test and skimmed the book. His review sheets are the key. I would recommend this class.
You can get thru this class without txtbk if you attend class take notes with his notes, the best way to study for test is with his notes and reading summaries online and taking multiple choice tests and reading all the answers. You will have to read "Lies my teacher told me" but it is good...write your book review while reading!
I loved his class. He was an amazing professor. He was very fun and witty. Be prepared to listen to the same jokes over and over again. Despite that, he was very helpful and very interested in what the students thought or needed. Very helpful. Very awesome.
I loved this class. I put a lot of work into this class and had a high A. The best way to study is with note cards made from the handouts he gives! Do Not buy the history book! You have to read "Lies My Teacher Told Me" but it was pretty good. He is funny and tells stories that will help you remember things on the tests. Great Teacher! :)
Dr. Ruskoski is very helpful and makes learning history enjoyable.
LOVED him, so nice about make up tests, 10 question quizzes every week, SUPER easy, study guides that were exactly like the test you just had to read! GREAT teacher.
I chose this teacher because of comments left from ratemyprofessor.com. However, I found myself increasingly disappointed. Though Dr. Ruskoski is a very intelligent man (obviously he has his PhD) he did not make the class exciting or very interesting. He does provide e.c. which is great and is helpful. Just not what I was expecting.
Pretty easy class. Lectures were occasionally dry, but always had good jokes to go along with every subject. Let's you drop your lowest exam score. Must study the study guides and take his notes to do well on exams. Good professor.
WONDERFUL TEACHER, VERY HELPFUL AND EASE TO UNDERSTAND :)
Very knowledgeable teacher. However, lectures were boring. I feel asleep a few times. MUST study notes for test. He requires you to read Lies My Teacher Told Me. About 4 chapters each month and then a 10-15 question quiz over it so you never know whats gonna be on the quiz. Offers extra credit. Good thing is that I didn't need to buy the book.
Very helpful. Read study guides he gives you and you'll do great on the tests. Would take again.
Loved his class.Online history. Read Lies My teacher Told Me, weekly discussion boards, extra credit, exam hints. Actually learned in a history class because of him.
I would highly reccommend his history classes. He makes his lectures interesting and funny. You can see his passion for history. I think it is important to be in class to catch helpful hints he gives to help you remember things on the test. I really enjoyed this class!
Great teacher! He makes learning history exciting and fun. Great slide shows, I learened allot thanks to him.
Good teacher, loves history and makes it enjoable to learn. He has great lecture and offers many vantage points.
I highly recommend Dr. Ruskoski if you have to take history. Makes lectures interesting and gives study guides that make the tests a breeze.
Great professor!! Easy class as long as you do the work. I took it online and loved it!!
If you think history is not fun, take him! He changed everyone's views on our history. Never used the text book but do get the literature book he assigns. Make sure to study the guides he gives for test and you will pass. Easy, just study.
I really liked Dr. Ruskoski! I found his class to be a tad difficult, & a lot of work involved, but I liked it over all. His use of power points along with the lecture really help those of us who are visual learners!
Over all Ruskoski is a good teacher, but I still did not feel my grade is reflecting all the work and studying I am doing. It is a very hard class. He gives a lot of bonus points, but trust me you will need them. I would not reccommend this teacher. Hes cool and all but it was a difficult class.
Dr.Ruskoski is agreat teacher. If you do the bonus work and study the power points you will do fine. He will not hand you an A if you do not desreve one. I wish he taught more of the classes I need for my degree. I am a psych.major but enjoyed this class and recommend him to anyone that has to take History
He is extremely helpful, and he makes sure to help you if you are lost! I am currently taking his online class, and I was intimidated at first because I failed my last history class because there was only 3 tests, but in this class there are 10 quizzes, 4 tests, and some reading in Lies My Teacher Told Me along with discussion board. Take him!
This class was online with SNHU. What a great teacher this is! He was helpful, prompt, and really nice. The course is not your average history course. I hate history, yet this class was exciting, engaging, thought provoking, and fun. He is also great at instigating great online dialogs between students. Take this class! You won't be sorry!
I'm so glad that I got a history teacher that actually cares about his students passing! If you do the work, you will pass. Period. Such a great guy. The tests come straight off the discussion boards. You have to take them at the Northeast or Metro campuses, but you will be in and out of there in no time. Take him now!
I took his class and he was excellent! He made history interesting and fun to study. The tests were easy to take because his study guides he handed out were very helpful. There were lots of opportunities to get extra credit and make an A. The work wasn't too hard. The only way not to make an A is by not doing any of the work. Take his class!
The easiest online class that has EVER existed! If you take his class online and don't get an A then there is something seriously wrong with you and you should drop out of college!
SME Ruskoski is the BEST online instructor I have ever had. He had a lot of participation in the course, he replied to emails on the same day and provided extra credit to ensure you made a good grade if you tried. Easy class and great teacher. I passed the course with a 96.
Easy class but I was .06 away from one grade up and I emailed him because the extra credit was put in wrong and he told me too bad so sad...unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend.
Very good history class. No pointless information drills. If you know the study guide you will pass the test. You write a book review of James Loewen's Lies My Teacher Told Told Me, which is an interesting read. I would recommend this class.
Um, he's pretty much the best online teacher I've ever had. I read the entire "Lies" and learned alot. He put this course together so well he should get a copyright for it. I seriously feel like I have a significant view of history from and ONLINE class. Read, young ones, read.
This professor is awesome! He gives study guides with all the answers for test. All you have to do is study. His test are multiple choice which makes it that much easier. I recommend this class.
I got this teacher because he had the best evaluations on this site. BIG MISTAKE ! This is the worst class I've ever taken. He makes you take standardized tests with questions written by the book publisher. Several of the questions have incorrect answers. When you point out the mistakes to him, he refuses to do anything. He's a big help.
He's supposed to be the best history teacher at TCC. If he is, my advice is to take history somewhere else. He definitely should not be in the teaching profession.
Dr. Ruskoski is great! He cares about your grade. The class isnt easy, you have to read the textbook plus 'lies my teacher told me' and you have quizzes about it. READ your study guides bc the answers are on them! And READ the lies my teacher told me book. Hard class, just WORK.
He is very excited about history. That makes it more fun to learn.
Study guides for test. Tests were multiple choice which made it easy to pass. Very informative and helpful. Gives extra credit. Overall good professor.
Great teacher! Cares about his subject, lets you work ahead. Has a set syllabus. i took online and there were only 4 proctored multiple choice exams!! prefect class for gen ed requirements. Teacher responds to email and posts grades quickly, has extra credit available-one is and essay, and only on ereal essay assignment!!
Great teacher! Always helpful and responds to emails quickly. Made the learning process fun. Took this class online and when I was having computer issues even gave me his cell number to try to attempt to help me out. Learned alot in this class. I would take a class another of his classes.
I took his civil war-Present class and I DID NOT enjoy his class at all and I use to love history till I had him teaching me it. He just shows pictures and talks about them for each chapter. I would advie you NOT TO TALK HIS CLASS!!
I took his class online. He gives lots of extra credit. His tests are based on the study guide so you should make an A if you mainly study the guide.
Overall good class, lots of reading. You do one chapter & chapter quiz per week from the text. Also you read 1 chapter per week from a book called Lies My Teacher Told Me, which is really interesting. Must do some discussion board posts. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.
He is a smart guy. His facts are good. Definately a hardcore liberal though. His political and social views and opinions always seem to pop up. But thats typical of most proffessors nowadays. I just was not into the class most of the time, not because of a lack of enthusiasm for history but for Davids constant race and political commentary.
graet
His political and social views are clearly opinionated as Liberal. The book "Lies My Teacher Told Me" is a mandatory read and is basically ALL about racial issues. The author "Loewen" is Liberal as well. Overall, easy class if you study the guides and read the book.
Dr Ruskowski is very dedicated. Alot of reading and a quiz each week and then mandatory proctored exams once a month. Gave alot of chances for extra credit and responded quickly to questions.
Very good teacher and helpful and understanding. I took this class on line.
Dr. Ruskoski is an excellent teacher. I contribute his organization to my final grade of an A.
16-wk online class. Was not happy with the quizzes he uses but his tests were not bad. Read and memorize those study guides for his tests!! After the first "bombed" test, I realized how important those study guides were. Made a 94 in his class. Quick to respond to emails.
"Lies My Teacher Told Me" is a mandatory read. Lecture is enjoyable and will crack some jokes. I used only the study guides and quizzes when preparing for the tests. I did read all the chapters in the text. Got As on all 4 of the tests. Recommend taking face to face course, and I don't like history.
I took this class online and i really enjoyed it. You have a quiz each week that is open book and a test once a month over the previous 4 chapters. pay attention to the study guids and what comments the teacher makes on it as those will be the questions on the test. Lies My Teacher Told me is Mandatory and a very good book
Very Liberal, I do not recommend his class. Book review is mandatory and not an enjoyable read.
I took this class online. There are open book quizzes each week and a proctored test on campus about every 4 weeks. There is a book review over Lies My Teacher Told Me at the end of the semester. There is several extra credit opportunities and as long as you do your study guides and stay on track, it is a fairly easy class to take.
I took an online course Fall 2013. Very good class. Must read and do open book quizzes each week. Has several short papers to write but thought provoking. Will help if needed. I enjoyed the textbook more than any other I have used! Great instructor...notices and rewards those students who put forth effort! Watch spelling on papers...lol!
Thoroughly enjoyed this class. Countless hours have gone into making a powerpoint chock full of interesting pictures and stories. Dr. R is fun to listen to and does an excellent job of bringing history to life. Really enjoyed the lectures. Study guides were imperative and reading Lies My Teacher Told Me is mandatory. Easy to work with nice.
This class is okay, you will have open book quizzes and discussion board post which are easy but very little of your grade. Then you will have huge tests that he gives study guides for, but the stuff on the test is different. I had a concern about my grade and he emailed back, with no help at all. Talking to him is like talking to a wall. NO HELP
Extremely easy class. If you want a joke of a class, take this one. Dr. Ruskoski is a hard-core liberal/progressive, very seldom said anything good about America. If you enjoy hearing your country bashed, take this class.
Tests are word for word from study guide. Very easy! Passionate about history and lectures were entertaining! Even let me turn in 2 assignments after last class of the semester that I missed due to a misunderstanding! Definitely recommend taking his class!
He is AMAZING!! This class is easy, he follows the study guide. He is funny and uses powerpoints with lots of pictures. I loved this class and ended up learning a lot. I definitely recommend this class!
Great class. Learned a lot.
Absolutely AMAZING. I took this course during the summer. He is super flexible. If you E-mail him about a conflict, he is very helpful and will let you take tests/ submit assignment late according to your reason. Do & study the study guide, and you will easily receive an A.
His test were nothing like the study guide, his tests were brutal and he wasnt helpful at all!!!
very good class!!! learned a lot. At home quizzes for every chapter, Exams are taken at the school but as long as you know the study guide you will do good on multiple choice tests. must read "lies my teacher told me" for discussion. Big book but it is an interesting book!syllabus very clear. Big mistake not to take this class!!!
Super easy A. One 10 question matching quiz a week. A few discussion board posts over "Lies My Teacher Told Me" book. 4 exams, all taken on campus. If you studied the study guide the multiple choice test is a breeze. Many extra credit opportunities. Nice guy.
He makes learning history fun and entertaining. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who takes this class. Great teacher!!
His tests are hard but he gives you the study guide, there is no way if you are prepared that you can fail. Unless you just didn't study!
Enjoyed class. Interesting PPTs. Tells stories that pertain to lecture, which helps with memory. Study guides are the test. No need for main book. Show up and pay attention and you will do great.
plenty of extra credit offered. DO THE STUDY GUIDES. Professor Ruskoski was understanding when I emailed him and worked with me and my situations.. Definitely recommend him!
David is adequate for an easy A, but is very liberal. He does not respect anyone who has a different political view other than his own. He will deduct grades if he disagrees with what you say. There are three written essays, four exams (that are proctored) and an online quiz for each chapter.
Nice guy. Good teacher. Test are on-campus, but literally can study the chapter summaries, and key terms with homemade flash cards and Pass with an A, which he states that's what you need to study in the syllabus. Weekly open book quiz, 4 exams, and 2 article review.
Tests are tough, but that's the only thing that's difficult. Just stay on task. ;)
I actually learned new knowledge about American history I did not know before..
This is one professor that actually wants his students to pass. Very clear on everything. Does not announce that he'll take late assignments but he definitely will. Really personable guy. Highly recommend! If you take any other history teacher you're doing life WRONG.
Amazing teacher. Amazing guy. I wouldn't mind getting to know him on a personal level ;)
Dr. Ruskoski is the best teacher I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students. He stayed after class to talk about my college and career plans on multiple occasions. His lectures are great! He throws in personal stories and photos from places he's been. Tests are multiple choice and he gives you the questions in advance. TAKE THIS CLASS.
Expectations are clear-cut. There are weekly assignments due but they are easy. Tests are taken at any campus, but there's only 4. If you're awful at history like me, Google saved my grade on the weekly quizzes. He allows you to make up any assignment missed for full-credit.
One chapter a week with a small 10 question quiz. 4 unit tests which are from the summaries at the ends of the chapter. He has you read and discuss a book called "Lies my Teacher Told Me" which is really an interesting read. All in all the homework wasn't too bad maybe 3 hours a week and you need to do some studying for the unit exams. Fun class
On line class - syllabus is crystal clear and the proctored exams aren't too terrible to study for. Exam questions are from chapter summaries and terms (about 10 pages when I typed it up). A short weekly assignment that was Google friendly. You do have to read Lies My Teacher Told Me. Extra credit assignment will add 4% to final grade.
Easy easy A! Exams come directly out of the overview and terms to know after each chapter. If you memorize that, you will get an A on every exam. Quizzes each take 5 minutes, you can look them up online. Tests are in testing center. 2 papers and offers an extra for extra credit. Discussion boards are easy, he gives you the points.
Awesome professor! Fairly easy A if you do the extra credit! History has never been an interesting subject for me, and Dr. Ruskoski makes it very intriguing! Must take this class!
He is a great professor!! I didn't study very much at all and I passed. He is so helpful, nice, respectful and he wants his students to pass. I would defenitly take him again.
Great teacher. I took his online 8 week history class and could work ahead which I liked. He is very responsive to e-mails. A lot of reading but very easy class. Best teacher I've had so far. Extra credit is offered. Be prepared to take the exams at the school.
By far one of the easiest classes I've ever taken! There is quite a bit of reading (2 books) but there's no way to fail unless you're lazy and choose not to do the work. I learned so much without even realizing it. Make sure you study your vocab for the exams and you're set. Exams must be taken at the school but they can be done in 10 minutes easy.
Professor Ruskoski was great! I took this class online. He made assignments clear and graded within a day. Be ready to read. Reading the chapters prepares you for the quizzes and tests. He gives extra credit! I will definitely take him again.
Assignments were quick and easy. Papers were clear cut and easy. 4 tests at testing lab. Study the chapter summary and glossary words and easy A. I used youtube videos to get more info and grasp it. That is all it took to pass.
Great online instructor. Laid out the whole semesters worth of work the first day and you can work at your own pace as long as you hit the due dates. Test are taken on campus, but he makes them available at all campuses and not just his home campus like some professors. Then "optional" book is needed. Extra credit available. Would take again.
There was a lot of homework but they were a lot of short assignments, you can work ahead which makes it easier. He clearly states what to study, and the test are not too hard. Great professor!
Ruskoski is a good teacher. He lectures every class period and they can get a little boring at times, but he does a pretty good job of keeping it interesting, funny, and he incorporates his own stories into them too. As long as you study for the tests and do all the work, this is an easy A.
Online class. The tests must be taken on campus, but the tests come straight from the chapter summary / key terms. Home quizzes are Google-friendly, and article reviews are interesting and easy. I recommend!
He is really a great guy i love learning history and he will teach you many things you never knew outside of history. He lectires every period and does have a bit of a corny/nerdy side that tends to pick on people nothing too distracting though. Dont be fooled his tests are not a breeze you do have to study well and create you own study guide
Took his online history class. Super easy. Just do the work that's required of you, study what he tells you to for the test and you'll get an A
Fun class but I like history. Textbook is bland but Lies My Teacher Told Me is good which is required. He tells you what to study for when it comes to exams which makes him a saint. Online.
Dr. Ruskoski is very fair in his grading and provides great feedback. You will take away as much as you put into this class. There is a steady amount of studying, but that is expected from a history class. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to actually learn.
I hate history but he made it so much fun I also learned so much, be prepared to read however he makes his test so easy as long as you read you have an easy A, he also lectures everyday than gives you a study guide, as long as you study you will be good on the tests, open book test on some, He is so nice and caring, and gives you extra credit.
I did have to study a lot to make a good grades on the tests, but it is not hard. Just study. The rest of the homework is a breeze, and there is 40 points extra credit. It is quite a bit of work, but I thought it was sooo much better to take it online than in a classroom. Mr. Ruskoski grades fast, and he is extremely helpful.
Read the syllabus prior to starting to know exactly what points are possible. do the homework, do the assignments, and study exactly what he tells you to. I was so pleased with the organization of this online course. Professor Ruskoski gives almost immediate feedback through email, and grades super fast as well. I totally recommend his online class
I was in the online History class. He gives you a semester schedule & all assignments are uploaded within the first day of classes. Quizzes can be found on Google, and all Exams must be taken at a Testing Center on campus. Put extra emphasis on studying for the tests. Also, purchase the "optional" book, because you will definitely be needing that.
Awesome guy. He goes so deep into history, and makes the time spent in his room worth your while. He loves making jokes and is like that friendly uncle that you only see at the reunions. You'll definitely learn a lot.
This is an amazing instructor. His lectures are interesting, and he is incredibly kind. The tests are easy as long as you make flashcards out of the study guides he gives you. You don't necessarily need his textbook, just use the one in the library for definitions. Lies My Teacher Told Me is needed and you will have tests though.
Great professor. Tests were tough, but if you study they're not too bad. I forgot to go in and take a test one week and he was very understanding and let me take it for full credit the next Monday. Truly cares about success.
This professor is by far the best professor yet. He makes his lectures interesting and his tests are so simple that it is hard to fail. If I have the chance and money, I would take his other courses. I strongly recommend everyone to take his classes, not the online one.
Mr. Ruskoski was a good professor I did not have many problems in this class so I am not sure how accessible he is outside of class but with the way his class was structured I would assume he is accessible. I would definitely take him again.
Dr Ruskoski is awesome. If you have to take a history class, I recommend his. He is passionate about history and his job and likes to relate real world experiences that hes had in with the lecture. There is some reading but nothing outrageous. Ruskoski is a very patient and fair teacher when it comes to assignments and tests.
Almost every class is a lecture but he does a pretty good job of keeping them interesting. Can get off on tangents a bit but I really enjoyed this class. Probably could pass this class without a textbook but it helps to have it. I would recommend his class to everyone.
Dr. Ruskoski enjoys lecturing about himself. He uses his own life story as a way to teach about history and does a great job. There are weekly open book quizzes and he does all your note taking for you. All you need to do is listen well and pass the test and it should go great. His assignments are constantly shuffling because of his self talk.
Dr. Ruskoski is one of the best instructors. He loves history and makes his lectures super informative and interesting. The test follow the lecture handouts and are multiple choice. He has a supplemental book that you must read. His expectations are very clear and he will also work with you in getting all of your assignment turned in.
Great instructor! Interesting lectures! There are also many opportunities to earn extra credit.
He wants all of his students to learn and succeed. His lectures are fun and he gives you handouts to highlight everything that will be on the test. This will be one of the best history classes you will ever take.
I will definitely recommend.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Ruskoski for any class that he teaches. He has amazing lectures and he makes learning history fun.
Excellent Instructor. He is very clear and concise about what is required/expected. The course was laid out with clear instruction. Be sure you set aside enough time to study for the tests.
By far the most fun history class taken. He makes lectures interesting and throws a joke in there every once in a while. Recommend this professor if you do not want a boring history class. Reading responses are easy but his tests do require studying for.
I learned so much from the lectures and I really enjoyed the class. Be sure to study for the tests.
Dr. Ruskoski was very accepting about late work but and grading your work promptly. I wish I could find a class like this to take again.
Dr. Ruskoski is a wonderful Historian and he make the lectures interesting and fun. He is very understanding about late work and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
This online class is very doable! 16 chapters with a test after every 4 chapters! Test are taken in testing center so thats the only thing I didnt like just because I had to set time aside to go up there but other than that good class! Study the vocab really good and youll do good on the test!
Professor Ruskoski is a passionate US History teacher. He uses a regular online text book but also uses a supplement book that changes the way students look at history. If you read the material, take the section quizzes, and utilize the study guides, you will pass the class. Prof. also gives a few extra credit options.
I took the online class and it was great! There is lots of reading if you want a good grade and you have to go to a testing center to take the tests, which was inconvenient for me since I live so far from campus. But, you can tell he loves history which makes him a great history professor.
If I'm being completely honest he wasn't the best and didn't seem interested in his students. The class was alright. I didn't hate it but didn't love it.
Professor Ruskoski is very clear on his expectations and gives all the tools necessary to achieve a good grade in the class. Matching quizzes are easy, but you will have to study for the exam. Everything that needs to be completed each week is set in its own folder making it easy to complete assignments, discussions, etc.
I'm not a history person but this class was interesting. He clearly travels a lot and has a lot to share. I took his online class but his weekly post were cool to read because he shared his travels. He makes study guides for all the tests and that was so helpful! If you go over them you will pass the test. You do go on campus to take them.
This class was truly a hidden gem. He had us read an extra book and also write article critiques which were both my favorite part of the class. He made history relevant and fun. This class is an easy A if you put the work in. I took this online but would love to hear this man lecture in class. He writes little summaries of his travels to each ch.
Honestly this man has no idea what he is talking about. I dont understand how he was ever even granted a bachelors. He is also entirely unprofessional. What a sorry excuse for a prof.
I really enjoyed Dr. Ruskoski's History class. He makes the expectations clear and his class is very easy to follow. You have a quiz due every week and occasional discussions. There are two article reviews (a third for extra credit.) He also provides students with a study guide that the exam questions are pulled from.
Great teacher! Has an ambition to teach!
His homework is straight forward. There are weekly quizzes over each chapter. There is 4 discussion post which 3 is about the book you have to read & 3 exams over it. There are 2 article reviews & the 3rd one is extra credit. There are 4 exams that you must take in the testing center. Read the study guides because the exams are exactly like them!
Great class with easy vocabulary quizzes and discussions. 4 tests that are based very much off the study guides. If you read the chapters, use the study guides, and participate in discussions - easy class. He gives great feedback and I enjoyed him sharing photographs from his travels. Very responsive. A bit slow to grade but not a big deal. Great!
I was enrolled in his online course and it was very straightforward. Do the assignments and get an easy B. Tests are taken at the testing centers however. Study the study guides and read the chapters! Highly recommend for those not interested in listening to in class lectures on history!
cool class does make you do 2 textbooks but fairly easy just talks alot about personal adventures over focusing on the lecture gets scattered brain. If you want to understand history he will explain to you no problem just make sure you read if your not history savvy.
I absolutely LOVED Dr. Ruskoski!!! He was super nice and respectful to all of his students and you could tell that he definitely cares for his students and the subject matter! There is quite a bit of reading and 2 essays but its not too bad! I would definitely recommend if you love history and care about improving your awareness.
Really nice teacher, lots of quizzes that are not difficult and help your grade. The tests are harder, but discussions and papers aren't bad.
Posted all of the assignments on the first day. As long as you don't procrastinate like I did this class is pretty easy. It is also very interesting I learned a lot.
Great Professor! I took his class online. Theres 4 exams and mainly they come off of the study guide he gives you for each chapter. There is a lot of reading in this class with matching quizzes and two papers but its fairly easy. He gives you the free txt books online which is absolutely amazing.
If you have the chance to take him, do it! The only reason I got a C is because I procrastinated. His assignments were clear and easy to understand. You will have to read a book (actually interesting) and write little blurbs about it. Wish I could take him again!
Professor Ruskoski was honestly such a good Amerian History professor. He taught things that I hadn't learned in high school and included things in our history that the textbooks leave out. His tests are super difficult so the best advice there is to MEMORIZE EVERYTHING.
He is an amazing professor! I took his summer class, so there was obviously double the work each week, but it was all totally doable. His lectures are on youtube, and the you just watch them and take quizzes (they are on quizlet). The big exams are proctored. His lectures were so fun to watch though, makes them interesting!!!
Not a fan of this class his lectures are recorded on YouTube and they're very boring and makes me lose focus the quizzes are easy but the exam is proctored and he doesn't give you study guides for the exams.
This class was pretty good, there was quite a bit of work. From short papers to discussion boards, but fairly simple. The tests are not open notes or book, and he uses honorlock. So make sure to study! The study guide is very similar to the test. He had pretty boring lectures but I enjoyed learning about his travels around the world.
I took the 16-week online course and really enjoyed it. There's a weekly matching quiz, 3 discussion posts, 2 articles reviews (3rd for extra cred), and 4 exams. The matching quizzes are super easy, all answers at the end of textbook chapters. You need to watch all the lecture vids to pass the exams, but I enjoyed all of them. Highly recommend!
very chill online course. Loved the provided separate book about the pitfalls of academic history classes and propaganda. You'll have to work, but it's easy and VERY interesting. if you have dyslexia or difficulty reading though, all the tests are in weird & varying fonts, so be aware of that. really recommend alongside more rigorous courses
Make sure your study for your exams thats the only way you can pass making the highest grade on your exams . Study a lot. He is a nice guy and cares for his students . Just study for your exam!!
Professor Ruskoski is an easy going and funny guy. His lectures were sometimes dreadfully long but were fun to listen to if you enjoy history. He uploads his lectures on youtube if you miss class. 1 quiz a week, 4 exams, 2 article reviews and discussion boards. Grading criteria is clear. Study and get an easy A.
Dr. Ruskoski's class is straight forward and easy if you study! He puts everything that is going to be on the exams on a study guide so you do not have to waste your time studying what isn't important. Tests are graded pretty heavily, but they are all multiple choice and are an easy A if you just study the guides he gives you.
Doctor Ruskoski has been, by far, my favorite professor. He shows places he has been to in his lectures that make it interesting. He prepares you study guides for each chapter and you use these to study before exams. Although the exams are proctored, I still managed to do fairly well on all of them. I highly recommend taking his courses.
TAKE HIM! his lectures are amazing! I usually don't enjoy history class, but he makes it so interesting and entertaining. he loves to tell stories and loves to interact with his students. he is basically everyone's best friend. I have nothing bad to say about him. his assignments, exams, and quizzes are easy. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL IN HIS CLASS!
Professor Ruskoski is an engaging lecturer and caring teacher. As long as you follow the study guide and attend class you'll do great.
Professor Ruskoski was pretty great. I took my class completely online & had no trouble keeping up. The class work was divided up by unit/week and everything was pretty straight forward. The vocab quizzes are open notebook & easy. There were 4 exams based on the lecture videos/chapter outlines and readings. He grades fairly & gives great feedback.
Professor Ruskoski was an amazing professor! There are chapters to read, matching quizzes, and 4 total exams. Extremely clear in his directions and I learned so much. The structure of his online class was amazing, I wish all TCC classes were set up this way! Would recommend!
He was a great professor, and had good lectures. Lots of reading and the second book he had us read was a bit repetitive and boring but other than that great class. Quizzes were sure easy. He responded to emails quick and was pretty laid back.
Excellent History Teacher, although I took his course online it was an amazing class.
If you want to hear about his life-family 40% of the time, then take his class. Very little homework to bring your grade up, so pretty much based on tests (4 exams, multiple choice/TF). He provides the textbook for free, but we only use it for vocab quizzes. Make sure you study a lot. Show up to class and you should make a decent grade.
Every week is pretty much the same. You have readings (I didn't read it at all and passed) and chapter matching vocab quizzes (open book + no time limit). The tests are more difficult, but I just read over the highlighted lecture notes he gives us. Tests are recorded! If I remember correctly, 90 minutes for 60 multiple choice. Straight forward!!
Professor Ruskoski is very funny and his lectures are engaging. However, this class is a bit of work! Exams are long but he leads off the study guide. My advice would be to keep up with memorizing the study guide and make flashcards so you are prepared for the exams.
I absolutely loved this class! Dr. Ruskoski has amazing lecture skills. I didn't study at all and have consistently made a B+ on every test. As long as you show up and listen to his lectures you'll be fine. Maybe do a little bit of studying because his study guides are literally the answers to the test!
Dr. Ruskoski's lectures are wonderful, I listened to them again for fun sometimes. He gives us all the information we need for the exams. His study guides are extremely helpful, and he's very kind and approachable and fair. I would highly recommend him for your history class, he gives you a great chance at succeeding.
Really a great professor. His lectures were interesting and personable. I would absolutely take this class again. Just a weekly vocabulary quiz, two article reviews, and three discussions. Very simple class, and I learned a lot.
Engaging teacher with humor! Prof made history enjoyable to learn.
Dr. Ruskoski is amazing! Very understanding, and the work is clearly outlined. I would 100% take him again!
David was a great history teacher! Memorization is key for this class, so Quizlet is your friend! There is a separate book you have to read, but it is very interesting and is available in an audiobook! Again he is a great teacher for all!
Dr. Ruskoski is a very well rounded professor. He teaches concepts that help you perceive the world in a better way. Given a chance, I would take this class again.
He taught a lot of good information and I learned a lot but the quiz answers weren't in the study guide like he said they would be and the tests were very difficult. The homework and quizzes didn't really raise your grade to much. It was mostly based on the tests. If you needed to bring your grade up there wasn't much you could do.
Dr. Ruskoski makes history exciting. I loved his sense of humor and well organized course. His lectures are interesting and I loved being in his class.
I loved this class. He mainly lectures, which is good. Make sure to study using study guide. Does give you ways to get extra credit. Exams is will bring grade down the most. Overall I would take again. Loved his class.
Besides this class being super lecture-heavy, I enjoyed taking this class. He seems to be a genuine guy who has a passion for history and teaching about it. The tests can be hard but if you study, you'll pass.
Dr Ruskoski is by far one of the best professors I've had. He keeps the lectures super interesting, and he's been around the world and shares stories from his experiences into his lectures. The exams might not come easy if you're not a big history person so definitely study for them, but he gives you all the info you need to know for the exam.
I LOVED having Mr.Ruskoski as my online U.S. History professor! He made the lectures interesting, and he underlines the information that will appear on exams in all of his lectures. Make sure to study the vocab terms used in the weekly quizzes. His class was easy, yet extremely helpful. You can tell he is passionate about history. Take his class!!!
Attendance was only mandatory for exams, but each lecture was a full class length, and there would be a lot to miss. He tells great stories and keeps the class interesting!
Professor Ruskoskis class was fine. The study guides are long and you need to study. You have a quiz every week and a test like once a month. The class is just not the best and the video lectures are boring. Overall the class is pretty easy and the assignments are hard.
Dr. Ruskoski had great material that was interesting to learn and read about. He was so responsive and gave great feedback. I was dreading this class and it has been on of my favorites so far!
I wish this course would be more easy
Professor Ruskoski keeps the class engaging with his stories and passion for history. While lecture-heavy, the exams are manageable if you study the highlighted material. Unstuck study was a great supplemental tool for prep.
Definitely would take this class again. The material is easy to keep up with, very lecture heavy however. As long as you read the study guides, you should get an A on every test. There is a lot of reading involved in the class too. We read a 450 page book, so if you don't enjoy reading I wouldn't recommend, but the book is very interesting.
Dr. Ruskoski is AWESOME!! He is so interesting and such a great professor. He does only lecture and you will have to study for the exams, but he is super lenient and understanding. There is Quizlet's for his exams!! 100% recommended.
Professor Ruskoski was a fair grader, always quick to respond to questions, and well-versed in what he taught. I appreciated that he included a supplementary textbook about the biases in history textbooks. Being online, I didn't get to know him much but his class was manageable and enjoyable.
He provides in depth video lectures for all test material. Make sure to study for the tests because they are multiple choice/ true false and tricky. He is very nice and is willing to meet with you and show you what you missed on exams and he is quick to respond. Overall great class!
Professor Ruskoski is the most wonderful professor I have ever had. Made learning history a blast. He constantly makes it a goal to make sure that everyone one has fun and takes home some history with them.
I enjoyed this class. He was very helpful with his feedback to our discussion posts and article reviews. I would definitely take his class again.
David Ruskoski is easily the BEST professor I've ever had in my entire life! He is so understanding if you need to push a date back for exam, quiz or assignment date. He understands that students have other classes that require more time than his. His exams are easy and all assignments were organized and released at the beginning of course. 10/10!!
I loved his online class! he is so sweet and his lectures are very informative. There are four exams through out the semester, but as long as you watch the lectures and look at his study guides you will pass his class!
Great professor! Generous deadlines, makes his lettures entertaining and relevant to todays issues, funny (although tries too hard sometimes), gives you everything you need to succeed in his class (just have to put in the work), and plenty of extra credit. I'm not fond of history classes but he made the class less dry.
Dr. Ruskoski is honestly the best professor I've ever had. His lectures aren't boring and are very engaging. There's so much extra credit opportunities. He gives you a study guide for each exam and as long as you study then you'll easily pass this course.
Dr. Ruskoski was an excellent professor. He was very prompt at responding to emails. Usually same day. All the course work was super easy, I just struggled with the tests. Tests are taken in the testing center every 4 weeks. Also, be sure to study the underlined portions of the lectures, these are what is in the tests.
There's a reason why Dr. Ruskoski has so many great ratings. Don't hesitate to sign up for his class! He provides all the information on the tests, so as long as you pay attention, it's manageable. He also uploads the lectures online for anyone who can't attend in person, which is super helpful.
Lectures most of class but it is so entertaining. Never a dull moment in his class! Easy to pass if you just do the work.
Great professor! He made history actually interesting with his lectures. There are 4 exams, over 4 chapters each, but everything on them is from the study guides. If you miss class, he has recorded lectures. There's also plenty of extra credit opportunities throughout the class.
fantastic professor. very sweet, funny, and passionate about what he teaches. can be repetitive with stories during lecture, but they're very intriguing stories. 4 exams, you're given the study guide at least a week in advance. lecture videos are provided online, don't stress if you miss a day. study the underlined portion- don't procrastinate
Mr Ruskoski literally talked about his personal life or random tangents for 90% of his lectures. I didn't learn anything from them. His tests are almost completely true/false questions, which he just changes one word to make it true or false to try to trick you. Not that many people in the class had above a C. assignments are matching quizes though
Great Professor! His lectures did include details about his personal experiences but that helped to keep me engaged and interested. Graded very fairly! Clear expectations and easy to follow the coursework. Would definitely recommend!
Dr. Ruskoski is a great professor, and the class is really easy-going. He always responds quickly and extremely helpful. He's respectful, chill, and genuinely understanding. The class isn't too hard, but it's interesting and makes it easy to stay on track. Super supportive and actually cares about how you're doing. I'd definitely take him again!
He's a genuine teacher who likes teaching, he has a good heart, and it's also very hard to fail his class because he cares about his students. Overall, an amazing professor.
Professor Ruskoski is very understandable and will work something out for you, just let him know ahead of time. He makes the lessons enjoyable and fun.
