Tests are interesting. They are hard, especially if you expect to sleep trough lectures, but if you follow his guidelines you will get at least a B. He also has a curve system that is based on the class average. He is a very passionate teacher. His lecturers are very interesting that change prior thoughts about Government but can be long.

Schaffer is a solid professor at UWEC. There isn't any homework during the semester and your grade is based on 4 tests, 1 short paper, and the final exam. Read the supplements that are on D2L and you should be fine. There's a huge curve on every test, so it's extremely difficult to do awful in the class.

Took this as a winterim class with a couple of friends which helped a lot. The homework takes forever with it being an accelerated course but it wasn't very tough because most of his questions are online if you google it. Tests were pretty tough but again if you take it with a friend you can switch off taking them.

Overall it was pretty straight forward. The most important thing to do in order to do well on tests is to be able to understand the online readings (Read them before you go to class. That way you don't have to take as many notes). The second most important piece are the questions. Do them, read the answers, and ask for help. Lastly, skim the text.
