Very clear on how he wants his assignments done, so clear he practically writes them for you. If you can't follow directions then don't bother, but I got an A.

Schroeder is a very interesting and intelligent professor. I took him for 1101 and 1102, high A's in both. He tells you exactly what he wants and if you take notes, he basically writes the papers for you.

His classes are really interesting and if you're really into writting, this is the professor for you. He really knows what he's talking about and explain very clearly how to write your essays... I took him for ENC1101 and ENC1102. Highly recommended!

I got a high A in the class, but I was disatisfied because he doesn't allow ANY room for creativity! It has to say EXACTLY what he wants (word for word)! He doesn't teach you how to write, he tells you what to write.

i agree with the person under me. he allows no room for creativity it has to be EXACTLY how he wants it. (which is super wierd) but i have to admit if you follow his instructions he's super easy and you'll do fine!

He is wounderful. very easy to understand. will work with you. No tests but you do learn and you do have to do work in his class. Whatever he tells you to do, do it, it's all benifical.

Easy A or B with this guy, just do what he says and thats all there is to it.He makes it clear what he wants; If your looking to be creative or whatnot stay away if you looking for a easy grade this the man.

This guy is wise. His lectures (at times) do run off into little rant-tangents, but all are logical. You'll learn alot with this guy. A little bit of work but for the most part is a pretty easy A or B.

I've had him for 1101&1102 this guy teaches you the stuff you need to write a good paper. no excess in hw and you definetly learn a lot in the class, you might not even realize how much until you write somthin and show to an old school teacher.

This by far is one of the greatest minds I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He not only teaches you to write, but also give assignments to help with the everyday scenarios of college life and the real world.

Great Teacher. Pay attention. Follow on his instructions. Take NOTES of everything he saids in class. You will learn to write and get A! I highly recommend Professor. All the essays he requests are based on all the notes in class. Therefore writing the essays is easy because you will HAVE your class notes.

He's a very good English teacher. You can get a good grade if you're a good listener and follow directions well. He wants his essays a certain way and gives away everything he wants to see in the essay in the notes. TAKE GOOD NOTES because he doesn't have them written down. But he's a great teacher overall.

awesome teacher. he practically writes the essays for you. the text book isn't really a text book but a compilation of short stories. he definately knows his stuff. his lectures are long but at times pretty funny. Easily one of my best professors ever. He's hilarious, smart, and has a very practical, down-to-earth teaching method. This class is not hard, just refer to your notes.

He is very nice and laid back. He gives lectures intertwining his interesting life and incorporating lessons. He doesn't care for attendance as long as your work is turned in. to get an A all you have to do is write EXACTLY how he tells you on an essay (he checks to make sure you listen and follow) and you get an A. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!

Gives very few grades, so make them count. His lectures are a little bit dull but to the point. He also arranged for a few guest speakers, all of them were interesting and insightful. If you are interested in a more commercial and by the book writing style take his class, if you want a more artistic approach look elsewhere.

he rarely takes attendance and when he lectures as long as you write everything he says down you will be fine when he tells you your next paper is due because you will already know what to write. very easy class if you do all your papers and mycomplab assingments online!

Great Professor, Lectures can be a bit boring, so schedule it 3 times a week for shorter classes. Rarely takes attendance, and likes to disappear on due dates. His lectures are interesting and comedic. He is pretty fare at grading. I wrote a mediocre paper, with a story he liked, and got a C+, it was done the night before. Take him! :)

He's a pretty fair teacher. If you ask him questions, he's not toooo helpful, but he listens at least. It's better to talk to him in person, not email. He says attend. is mandatory, but seldom takes roll. He's a nice guy, with interesting lectures and good stories. Take him, he's a good professor.

Great professor. He has a lot of experience as a reader and a writer. You have to be willing to try and improve your writing. Come to class and pay attention and write notes because he always specifies what he wants in every essay and assignment. He's great. Also, the writing center helps A LOT! If you want a A visit the writing center often!

Best English teacher at Miami Dade by far. Took him for enc1101-2. You will learn how to write differnt types of essays, and also learn real life knowledge from the stories you learn in class. Highly recommend his class.

He's a really great professor. He got on my nerves a bit but nothing I couldn't get over. He truly knows what he's talking about and has the best anecdotes. He's really funny and his assignments are always about personal topics so it's not really hard. Tough grader though bc he's a write himself.

Clear, seemed to be a fair grader, and didn't seem to have a problem w/answering questions unless it was obvious you weren't paying attention at all. Said attendance was mandatory but only took it a handful of times. Overall he was a good professor, I don't regret taking him, but it annoyed me that it took him a good 6 weeks to return papers.

His class is rather challenging but he gives you all the tools you need to get an A. His essay grading is very specific but he looks for items he did mention in class; take lots of notes and it will help you understand him. he seems intimidating but he's very sociable and helpful.

I was worried about taking this class but ended with an A =) he tells you exactly what he is looking for in the essays and gives you a new way of looking at stories. we only had to do 2 papers the entire semester, pretty awesome for an english class. he is a very sweet man, glad i took this class. was my 2nd time in 1102 and this time ended w an A

Great teacher, very clear about what he expects and explains thoroughly. Always willing to help if needed and doesn't ever read from the textbook. We only read one book in his class. The compclass is mandatory as well as the essays if you want to pass. He knows how to write very well! Recommended!!

This professor is amazing , super easy , no midterm , no final . But do take notes and read the book , and do all assignments ! A pro folio is due at the the end of the semester ! just do what you have to do and you'll be fine !

Great Prof. I believe he has alot of creative writing skills. Make sure to take extremely good notes when he is giving you an assignment outline read cannery row and complete summaries you should be fine ! :)

He is definitely an easy professor. He tells you exactly step by step what he wants on his papers, which don't exceed more than two pages. He is a very nice man and kind of funny at times. As long as you do the assignments and the portfolio and the end of the semester you will pass :)

i took creative writing from him in 2000. he was excellent. It was a "filler course"/ elective for me but it changed my life. He taught me how to write so that people love to read my work. I am not a prfessional writer but I write a lot in my work and the skills I learned serve me well 12 years later. Put some stress on your characters.

Where to start? He knows his stuff, you can tell his life has been literature and writing. Portfolio & Book assignment required to pass. He missed quite a few classes that left us puzzled. I don't feel i learned all that much in this class, i know he has a lot to give but he doesn't give enough. Take him if your major doesn't require much writing.

He certainly loves to toot his own horn, and its a treat. His class can get a little off track but he has a lot to say and if you listen, you can learn a lot. He doesn't require attendance, gave little to no work throughout the semester but expects an organized portfolio at the end full of your coursework and notes.

He's a very nice man. Focuses a lot on creative writing. You have 3 essays in total and if you do good you wont have to write the final essay. Also have to do pretests online with a code you have to buy. He's very smart and knows his stuff. Do the essays, portfolio and pretests and you'll get an A

INCREDIBLE teacher! Crystal clear about every assignment and tells you exactly what you need to receive an A. Extremely easy and the only way you can fail is if you NEVER once went to class. 4 basic and simple writing assignments and no final exam if you have an A in the class. Prof. Schroeder made my summer. I looked forward to go to his class.He likes to teach in a practical way, he gives advices he has actually used to succeed as an excellent writer. He works with the book Cannery Row and if you do everything he asks during the sem. You don't have to take the final if you're happy with your grade.Best teacher ever.

Out of the 9 assigned essay assignments, we have done two! He passionately describes the stories and wants us to analyze and contribute. He asks the ask questions and he genuinely cares about his students. He has a structure for his essay, but he lets you know what he expects! Overall, funny and great!

I had a lot of students complaining about hard he is. He makes you read a novel and take notes every time we take class. This guy is a good teacher if you listen to him. He offers extra credit for participating around the campus, pretty good honestly.

He is a good professor but a tough grader, expect to visit the writing center to have all your essays revised before turning them in if you want to get a good grade on this class. Do everything on time as there are only few extra credits available. He tells you exactly how he will grade your paper and the things expected on your essays.

First of all I don't understand how anyone could give this guy anything but a great review. he's funny and understanding. His lectures are good and won't put you to sleep. he's an amazing person overall. Gives exact reviews for all tests. Professor Schroeder is a great English teacher. Very inspirational. He teaches not only academic requirements but also prepares his students for the "real world". I would definitely take his class again. And I recommend him to all students interested in good writing.

Overall great professor! He does give lots of homework, but all of it is due at the end of the semester. You put all of the homework in a well organized, and neat portfolio. If you miss things he will deduct points. All in all, he is a very interesting man with a respectable and impressive background. He is also quite funny.

I took enc1101 and it was an easy class. he gives easy and short assignments and many opportunities to pass the class. also he helps with free access code to don't buy textbooks.

He was the best English professor I had taken. The book is cheap and he makes you read short stories. He has many tricks about guessing plots and makes you watch movies. Really cool professor, he likes to teach. Make sure you attend his classes as he explains and gives the key on how he wants his essays. He knows his stuff well.

A very good prof who is passionate about what he teaches. Every class, we watch music videos and take about 5 slides of notes. It is important to attend lecture simply because he will tell you exactly which questions he is putting on the exams. Exams are very easy if you study and remember the hints he gave in class. Yes, he talks about himself and his life most of the classes but he practically writes the essays for you. if you show up, write notes, and listen he'll give you an exact outline of what to put in each essay. good teacher. only 4 essays all semester are due. portfolio due at end of semester with class notes, and free-writes.

He is a good teacher if you go to class and do your papers youll improve your writing. Just 4 essays graded but you need to do a portfolio thats going to take you a lot of time so dont leave it for last. If you pay attention to his classes he is going to tell you exactly what you need to write. Dont take him if you dont have enough time.

Honestly you just have to watch out for the portfolio at the end of the semester. I literally started filling the journal aspect of the portfolio with nonsense because he doesn't read them. This class is an easy A you just have to put the work in.

Professor was not bad despite the feedback on here. His lectures can go on and not be related to the topic of the papers given. However, the assignments were not hard and easy to be honest. Only three assignments were given during the semester which is amazing, and he gave the opportunity for extra credit! Replies to emails fast. I would take again

An amazing person and amazing educator, professor Schroeder is the reason I began to love writing and literature. He teaches you the real world application of writing given he's and author, screenwriter, and had produced his own short movie. A man with hands on experience, every class is a treasure and gift into the mind of a great person.

Taken him 3 times during my time at mdc, he truly cares and knows his subject well. Everything I learned in his class from MLA formatting, the hero's journey, and the stories we read were key into gaining a comprehensive understanding into the world of writing. He isn't your traditional cookie cutter professor, he's the real deal

I took his course for the Summer term and it was very straight forward. We had 3 essays and the final was optional, the final assignment is an amnesty, and it's meant to replace your lowest grade. He also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Very easy class as long as you can follow directions. No HW or discussions, just the 3 assignments.

David Schroeder was overall a good instructor. However, he was late many times when giving back feedback on papers. However, I can not blame him considering how many classes he manages on his own.

Amazing summer term. I would absolutely recommend him. We were assigned three short papers. He explained everything he wanted in the papers and gave several examples. He leaves feedback too. Very easy A, do the extra credit, it can bring you up a whole letter grade. He does not respond to emails, but ask during class and he will answer. Take him :)

Great teacher, I took this class in the summer and it was a very entertaining class, it teaches you how to write each essay in detail, it is super comprehensive, and it helps you with extra credit, there were only 3 essays, if you do everything right you will get an A.

This professor definitely stands out from the rest. He is funny and handled the class well especially with the lack of participation. Gives many chances with extra credit and dosent hold it against you. He can help you improve you just have to be straightforward and ask. Some people just expect Professors to go out of there way to cater to you.

Attendance isn't mandatory but helps, pretty easy class if you do everything with time, 3 essays about pieces we analyze, extra credit opportunities, fair with grading, overall great Prof lectures are just long.

Professor Schroeder is a mixed bag - can be ego-driven, but also engaging. Creative writing prompts are straightforward. unstuckstudy great for essay prep. Overall, a solid class if you stay engaged.

I personally found his class easy, this is being a decent writer. Professor Schroeder is very straightforward- some may find him to be picky (does professional work/films etc). Very knowledgeable and at end of the semester exceeds with extra credit to help students. We had like 2-3 essays, no quizzes, optional final essay to help your grade out.

This professor's lectures were boring. Although, if you listened and took notes, he'd give you exactly what he was looking for in your essay. there are 3 essays, an OPTIONAL final essay, and extra credit opportunities. You have to buy a book from Amazon ($8) that you only use twice. He's a bit full of himself at times but I'm sure you'll survive.

Professor Schroeder is much deserving of his Endowed Teaching Chair Award. This is notable at the moments he grades one's paper, as he specifies only the most noteworthy errors, progressively rewarding the demonstration of the knowledge one has acquired in class. And he never, ever forgets to provide constructive feedback, as with ENC 1102 as well.

You have three main essays and three extra credit assignments. The class is pretty easy, but the way he explains things can be confusing at times. He also doesn't like students using AI. Overall, it's not a bad class, and he likes to talk a lot.
