He is an excellent teacher. Gives partial credit on tests. Tests are not easy but do-able if sufficent time is given for studing. Homework is assigned every class and there are projects for 6-7 chapters (can be difficult and time consuming). I promise that if effort is put forth, a lot will be obtained and retained.
awesome trig teacher. he really loves the stuff and he's great at teaching it. definitely the best trig teacher at mcc.
Do all the homework and you get at least a C
Awesome teacher. The best I have ever had by far, including all of my instructors at ASU since I have transferred from MCC. Mr. Schultz has a real gift for teaching and conveys his immense wealth of mathematical knowledge perfectly. He's a really great guy and a spectacular teacher. I wish I had more room to write praise. A++
Do all of the homework and do the chapter reviews before tests. The only hard part about the class are the projects. Just find some friends in class and youll be fine.
excellent teacher
Great teacher! So helpful... Trig is hard and takes a lot of studying if you are not familar with the material. The prof. is willing to help you so utilize his office hours.
I highly recommend Professor Schultz. His passion for math shows in his lessons. Anyone who is willing to put the required effort will definately learn from Professor Schultz. I will be taking his Calculus I class in the spring.
he's a very good teacher. explains everything thoroughly and would stay after class to help students, although calculus is a hard subject. if you're willing to make the effort, then you'll at least pass with a C
Schultz is the man! He is an awesome teacher! Always willing to help, especially if you come into his office hours. The only real hard part of the class is the projects, but you can work with other people so make a few friends! As long as you actually pay attention you should be able to get a good grade. Collects homework.
Mr Schultz changed his homework requirements for this class. I took him for trig and for calc one, and he collected selected problems from the book. That worked great because students could practice many many problems and really get to know the material. He now hands out homework packets which seriously cuts into practice time. Not good.
Very good at explaining complex concepts.
Schultz happens to be the best damn teacher in regards to teaching in general. The guy could teach math to a monkey and have the thing building bridges and solving identities. He brings tenacity and passion to learning, along with an easy going atmosphere which is hard to achieve. I suggest him for any type of math class.
Schultz is by far one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He's an incredibly nice guy and is very helpful. Plus, he teaches in a way that makes math easier to learn. Simply put, the guy rocks.
Great teacher I hate math but he made it enjoyable he talks to you like a person and it's very easy to respect him he's also funny
This guy is the best teacher ever! I had no interest in math and was dreading taking this class. He makes it super easy to understand and if you go to class and do the homework, you will totally pass if not get an A or B. He made me want to take more math classes that he is teaching that I am not even required to take. The best math teacher at MCC
He was by far the best teacher I have ever had! I am horrible at math, and I totally understood everything he said. He is a Math God!
By FaR the best math teacher ever!! His test are so easy to understand because he gives u the best study guide and goes over everything!!! Just make sure you do your homework and come to class and you'll for sure pass!!
He is the best teacher ever! He is so nice and helpful and jokes around alot! He is clear on everything he does. There is homework every night but if you take notes the homework is a piece of cake.
friggin awesome
Mr. Schultz is a fantastic teacher. The way he explains problems makes them so clear. He is really good at helping you to visualize the problems so you actually understand what your doing. I highly recommend him especially if math isn't your strong point.
awesome teacher. great guy. very clear in class. easy to understand. prepares you for tests well. gives project that require time and effort but nothing too strenuous. one of the best math teachers ive had yet. i would definitely recommend him.
This teacher is excellent. Not only does he explain things so that even a person who sucks at math can get but he really knows his stuff. He also is very interesting and knowledgeable. I am not a math major and would highly recommend him.
This teacher is excellent. Not only does he explain things so that even a person who sucks at math can get but he really knows his stuff. He also is very interesting and knowledgeable. I am not a math major and would highly recommend him.
he is a great teacher. he is very knowledgable and enjoys teaching. i hate math but he made it more enjoyable. he gives out study-guides that are VERY similar to the tests which is great.
Great teacher. Clear, helpful, great study guides, knowledgeable, and just great!
I take some of his math classes from Mat 150 to CAL I. He offer study test and pay attention on class and take notes. you're be fine. Sometime his test little challenge.
I told his Mat 150, Mat 182, Calc I. He is the best professor in my education life. many homeworks but useful practice test, Calc I is not easy but he keep helping students. Project and take hometest save many people. Awesome professor.
I love Dr. Schultz! He explains everything so well and it's completely clear. He makes the class fun and really tries hard to make sure everyone is understanding the material. He assigns a few projects over the semester but they're not too bad. I will definitely be taking him for Calculus.
his teaching is great, his homework is ok, but his project are horrible. the project are out of the student league. you have to go to math tutor to get help and use the computer to do show your answer, which is time consuming. His test are hard because he throw in some hard equation, that we never went over before. His grading is very strict.
Mr. Schultz has got to be the best math teacher I've ever had. His methods used for teaching make remembering a lot of the material very easy. As for his projects, I think they were a lot of fun. Yes they were hard, but he posted the answer keys in the tutor center for a reason. I liked his class so much I signed up for his calc class in spring
Don't take this class online. Really hard, and he's not very organized.
Mr. Schultz is great, i am terrible at math but he makes it easy to understand. make sure to do the homeworks, they make the tests easier and they help your grade in the long run. he is definately one of the BEST math teachers i have had
He's the reason I became a math major. He incorporates humor and lectures, as well as the history of the math, making the class much more interesting. He gives you many online sources, as well as ample time to complete the homework. And he doesn't mind tutoring after his class periods. Projects are a bit hard.
Amazing teacher! I'm glad I took his class..he explains beauitfully and makes math so easy I've been only getting A's
He is a great teacher and most of the previous comments are extremely true. The only thing is that sometimes his methods are very different from the book so if your not goo at math it's hard to follow the book. He also only uses the book for 5 hw probs. every section so no use buying the book if you don't have too
Mr. Schultz is the best math teacher I have ever had. He helps you whenever you need it, and he makes calculus very fun! Take him if you need to take calculus!
somewhat does his job, when on the first day of class he recommended three of us not take the class and told us to find another course, and will not answer any question during testing kinda refuses to do what we are paying his to do. most of the time has no humour, may have control issues.
I like him,he is the best.
Do not take this class if you are unfamiliar or just plain bad at trig. I want to cry every time I do my homework,I have had to go to tutoring for every assignment yet because he does not teach the material on homework, just the concept, he leaves you completely on your own to figure out how to apply these concepts to hw problems/tests/projects(etc)
he does expect you to study on your own. he goes over some of the basic concepts though. he gives projects that he does not explain in class. ive spent lots of time in the student center. he does give good practice reviews for the test that he does go over in class. he does try to make math fun.
ALOT of home work!! Really good information, but alot of homework.
I took MAT 150 with Schultz during the summer. it went pretty quick, and he was very unorganized in his concepts jumping from here to there not making the connections inbetween. Homework was not a requirement in his summer class but recommended, do the homework it helps alot and he will try and help you as best he can.
Even though I had to withdraw from this professor's course (for personal reasons), I still think he's one of the best math professors I've ever had. He gets the class involved with his in-class examples and assigns a fair amount of homework that prepares you for the exams. I would definitely take a course from him again!
Explains things very well in class. Projects are difficult. Homework was mandatory and couldn't be turned in late, and he would randomly pick five problems on the homework to check for accuracy (so you don't just get credit for doing it). Not a bad math teacher; I've had better and worse.
He is really good at teaching this was the second teacher Ive had for Trig and he was way better. As long as you do the homework and do decent on the tests you'll be fine, the only thing that held me back was those damn projects. My only complaint is he has like a witty sense of humor, I mean he was really funny at first but after awhile annoying
If you take notes, do the homework and the practice tests, you should be fine. The projects were cumbersome, but if you turn in SOMETHING, it's better than missing all the points. I had to retake because I didn't do the projects, and I wish I would have taken Schultz again. His tests are by far easier and more fairly graded than others I've seen!
Never has math been explained so well in my life. The lessons were taught in a very ordered fashiond way as long as YOU TAKE NOTES on everthing he puts on the board it very simple. homework was never hard and he never assighned too much either. was a very good class and a very good teacher. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER!
Very good professor I recommend him. He is a great teacher. His hw is hard because it is graded for correctness but his tests are reasonable. Don't expect a great grade but if you put in the work you can do well.
by far the most awesome teacher ever...hes tough but fair and most important he makes the math interesting and engaging.i highly recommend
i loved his awesome sense of humor! it made the entire subject of trig much more palatable...and he is clear abt everything..a very approachable guy
He's awesome! I'd highly recommend him.
This class was insanely hard, there are roughly 80 formulas (identities) that you have to memorize, no notes or formula sheets allowed on the tests. Have a Calculus performing Calculator (even though it is not listed). If you've got nothing better to do than memorize formula and proofs all day long you'll have a good time.
I will be completely honest and say I failed this class due to pure laziness. But as an instructor, this guy is amazing. He makes it as understanding as possible and puts these math problems into real-world events. The best math instructor.
This is Calc 1 so of course it was hard, however I had Prof. Schultz for Trig. and for this class. He helped me get the grades that I did (A's and B's)! Even when I thought I couldn't do it he told me I could! He is a great teacher and would recomend him to anyone willing to work hard.
He goes fast in class and hw is due the next class. And he won't answer questions about HW during class, he says you have to come to his office to ask questions. So if you have other classes or work, then your on your own. Besides normal hw from the book, he adds in a bunch of worksheets and math projects that are ridiculous and not explained well
Great at explaining things but rarely ever goes over hw in class. Projects are a good chunk of your final grade. Not doing them will screw your grade up. Tests are not surprising. Gives test study guides. Never assigns an overwhelming amount of hw. If you work a lot his class may be too much for you. Fair grader, gives partial credit if you attempt
Mr. Schultz is an amazing teacher! He explains everything perfectly. He gives a lot of hw that helps you maintain a good grade in class. I highly recommend him. I am definitely taking him for Calc 1. His projects are kind of hard but if you go to the tutoring center you will get them finished without alot of complication.
He is fantastic at explaining the material in class. He focused on real world situations and assigned projects without much direction to help prepare us for the real world. I know some people might find that to be awful, but for someone going into science/engineering this kind of thing is great preparation, because in the real world its not simple.
Professor Schultz is awesome!!! He give out some challenging projects but in lecture explains the material good. He will give you the grade you deserve, he is not the type of instructor that will feel sorry for you and give you a higher grade than what you earn. Just do your homework and pay attention in class and you should be fine.
He is an awesome teacher and has a great way of explaining trig. I had a hard time because he does go fast. I would recommend to anyone. As long as you study and apply yourself you will do great in his class.
Schultz is the man. This class isn't particularly easy, nor does he give special treatment. You will get the grade you deserve, nothing more nothing less. Projects are kinda hard, and hwk counts for a big portion of your grade. Take him.
I barely pulled out an A. The good thing is that he gives out and goes over a review that is almost identical to the test. The bad thing was the super lame, time consuming projects you have to do on top of the HW. BUT just go to the math tutors and they'll do the whole thing for you. Unfortunately I didn't learn that until the last project...
I've had this professor for Math 150, Math 182, and Math 220. I've had 6 different math professors at MCC, and he is by far the best one there. He has a gift for teaching, and is an extraordinary person. I will always remember most of the stuff he taught. I will miss his instruction after moving on, and I wish him well on future endeavors.
I've had 6 different math professors at MCC, and he is BY FAR the best one. He has a gift for teaching, anyone with a brain should be able to see that. Every single person in our class this semester loves him to death, and I will always recommend taking him for anyone who wants to learn. I will miss his instruction after I move on. :(
Highly recommend. Seems to geniunely care how the class is doing and slowed down things when he felt people weren't understanding. Consistent but not overwhelming homework load.
Schultz is such a great guy! Helpful, very clear, and makes calculus fun! His homework consists purely of his own "made-up" problem packets that usually have something to do with Hershey's kisses, the area of the Blob, and other very fun and creative problems. His homework is ROUGH, but his tests are nice and do-able. LOVE THIS GUY! TAKE HIM!
I've always struggled with math but he most definitely explained things well. Best math teach I have ever had! Highly recommend!
Great teacher. If you aren't passing his class then you aren't trying, plain and simple. He explains things in ways that are easy to understand and makes them fun. What more could you ask for in a math class? Anyone complaining or with poor grades put no effort at all into it.
The only time I easily understood math!! The lecture and projects alone made me learn concepts. Always pick Schultz for math classes... the end.
Hands down the best math professor I have had, thus far. Mr. Schultz truly cares about his students and their success, and it is clearly shown through his teaching. He is brilliant and brings a unique combination of applying real world content to his curriculum, and explaining how many of the concepts and practices that are learned will be applied.
Excellent experience with Mr. Schultz. This is the second semester I have had with him, and have already enrolled in his class for next semester. His classes fill up first, every semester, for good reason. He is a genius when it comes to helping his students understand and apply mathematics through unique projects and unconventional teaching method
Mr. Schultz is not super helpful if you have questions. He tries to make class fun with cheesy problems or comics added to the handouts, but his personality doesn't match up and he gets annoyed easily when students are confused. His lectures are fairly clear, but he is a VERY strict grader. Better than some other math teachers, but not the best.
This is the kind of teacher that makes you love Math!!! He is amazing.
Calc is just hard in general but having him for online was TOUGH! He's not great at responding to emails and kinda didn't help much when it came to questions. Tests were short, but covered what was in the study guide.
Such a great teacher. His calculus take home exams and projects could be really difficult at times, but the tutor center does a good job with helping. He does online homework through Webassign which comes with an eBook, so buying the physical textbook is optional. He is very smart with the topics and does a great job inspiring critical thinking.
I took his online Calc I class. Online math classes are bad enough, but there was no way to contact him reliably, and it was pretty obvious that he did not care about our class. The scheduling for assignments did not match between the class calendar and webassign. There are projects too, but they're easy, if a little bit tedious.
Professor Schultz is such a good math teacher. I've never liked math ever. He made everything clear and understanding. I wouldn't mind having him as my math teacher for the rest of college.
super easy going guy. He does not use any type of software for homework he is very old fashion like to use text book for homework. in the beginning of the course there is homework due every day towards the end there is barely any homework to do. funny guy and like mentioned before, very easy going. -MAT120
Took him for 150, trig, and calc1. I HATE math, and he's the best professor I've had, of any subject. Exams can be hard, but he doesn't purposely trick you. Just wants to make sure you get it. Very clear during lecture. Nice guy, always willing to help you. And he's really funny. I almost wish I needed more math and could take him again!
Great explanations. Some tips if you are going to take his class: 1. Start the WebAssign assignments early. Do the practice problems. 2. Get help for the projects and take home test in the tutoring center.
Took him online for the summer. The class moves quickly so its essential you practice a lot. Everything is very organized and simple to follow. He's responds quickly to emails and provides practice tests and good online recourses. Just put in the time and you'll be fine.
Good lectures, easy to understand even though calc 3 is hard. Homework is a must! There is tons of it! 50 webassign problems and homework sets every chapter. start them early. His homework is harder than his test most of the time. He gives you a test from a pervious year with the problems worked out to study from. 2 HARD projects
This professor knows what he's doing, and is clearly passionate about mathematics. Unfortunately, he appears bored while he's teaching and he has a very annoying habit of trying to get his students to finish his sentences. If you don't like being spoken to as if you're 10 years old, avoid this professor. Expect lots of homework and little feedback.
Hilarious professor, and extremely clear cut in his lectures. Tests aren't hard, and he prepares the test years prior for you, and if you study and understand the material, they aren't complicated or tricky. Would love to take another math class with him again. Clearly loves what he does, and I appreciate what he has done!
Not a terrible teacher, but there is a ton of homework. Not only that, but he apparently expects you to learn a lot on your own, as not all of the material in the homework is covered in class. The book is pretty useless for that, so expect to spend a lot of time teaching yourself. Your homework is going to be 30+ problems, but he only grades 5.
He really knows his stuff and is clear in lectures, always answers questions and is available to contact. TONS of homework and his homework sets are tough but they are easier than the tests. He gives you old tests to study from which is great. Make friends in the class and divide and concur the homework you cant do it on your own. Take him!
He makes it interesting so it would be easier to learn, grade the homeworks strictly, projects are much harder that homework or the problems you learn to solve in the class. Make a friend in the class, it would be very helpful to work on the projects with someone and do homeworks. His class level are higher than normal so makes you ready for future
Great teacher, really knows what he is talking about, hard homework grader but easy tests, and the projects are harder than what he teaches in class but makes you think outside the box and understand material
This is, hands down, the best math teacher I have ever had. He teaches you Calculus by helping you discover it using the knowledge you already have. He also applies what you're learning to what you might encounter in your respective fields. I would definitely take him again.
great professor, he has a very unique way of explaining things which is totally helpful. He makes factoring a lot easier, if you struggle with it. Don't miss his lecture he really does cover a lot of material.
this awesome teacher knows what he is doing. Homework is only 5 problems and that is all he will give you. he brought our class chocolates one class secession because we won a bet . he is very chill and he is respected by students. Dont be late to often he doesnt like to be interrupted alot.
great teacher ! would take him again. show up pay attention and do the homework, which is only 5 problems a night or when he assigns. you will be fine!
Schultz is a great professor, he gives clear expectations and as long as you meet them you will do well in the class. There's 5 problems for homework - 30 minutes at best - due almost every day, sometimes there isn't any though. Some extra credit. Overall, he tries to make the class interesting. Makes puns and math-related jokes.
Online class was horrible. Professor Took forever to respond. All exams are hand written in class beware. . . Difficult. Choose another.
horrible. Professor do not help Difficult. Choose another he do not help at all.
By far the best math teacher I've ever had. The homework is super hard for that the tests seem easy. Gives you multiple practice/past test examples so you know what to expect.
Best math teacher at MCC! I have taken him for Calc 1 & 3 and I would keep taking math with him if he taught more classes. He is challenging but he does the impossible and makes math interesting and even exciting at times. If you don't like math, take him. I guarantee you will leave thinking about math differently! (bonus he's quite funny)
Great teacher! If there is any teacher who makes sure you understand math its this guy! He does require you to put in the time and effort, if you can do that then I would highly recommend!
Professional Schultz is honestly the best math teacher I've had! He teaches in a way that makes sense and he gives you many opportunities to fix your grade. From not being good in math, taking his class, I literally had A's on every test we had.
Great professor, class is pretty tough though. Lots and lots of hw and tests are usually pretty hard. He's a good teacher, however, and if you put in the time you will do well. Lots of practice exams available, which really help
I very much enjoyed professor Schultz' Calculus 3 class. The lectures were great, and he explained everything quite clearly. Yes, there is a lot of graded homework, but it helps you to better understand the material. By test time, you will be more than adequately prepared as long as you have done the homework. Overall, a great math teacher.
He is an extraordinary teacher, very dedicated to his craft. But, his homework is incredibly hard, they consist of 50 online math problems, 15 book problem (Most of them are word problems), and a projects which is close to impossible to solve by yourself so you will most likely have to visit the math tutoring center.
Professor Schultz is really cool. He came in mid semester and took over the class. He is really helpful and well respected! He is really clear when explaining the problems. MAT 121 is not an easy class but if study the review, do the homework, and ask for help/go to tutoring you should be fine. He's willing to help anybody who needs it.
Prof. Schultz is the best mathematics teacher at MCC. He is great at teaching and explaining in detail and quality. He gives plenty of practice problems and homework to learn the material well. He does give out tons of homework that is quite difficult, but it really prepares you for the exams. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Schultz is hands down the best math professor at MCC. He takes lots of time explaining concepts and will take more time if you don't understand something. Pros: Approachable Test questions are always from HW Will walk you through anything you don't understand Cons: Some of the hardest HW you'll ever get (it helped me understand calculus though)
Really goes into depth and allows you to understand the material instead of just shoving formulas into your face.
I like Schultz, but something about his teaching style left me frustrated. We were given specific, one-off examples without a solid explanation of how to approach the type of problem as a whole. The class felt rushed at times and disorganized. He's a smart guy and really know his stuff (gives excellent shortcuts) but his style didn't work for me.
he is the BEST he makes math soooo much easier and fun to learn he will make love math
Professor Schultz is an AMAZING math professor. A true unicorn. I took him for both trigonometry and then calculus the semester after. His homework is quite tough, but he is always willing to walk you through anything you're having trouble with. He genuinely wants everyone to succeed and do well in his class. 10/10 would take again , u wont regret
the best take him and you will love math he gives lots of hw but theyre very easy and its exactly like the notes and the test are just like the review but different numbers i strongly recommend taking his class hes really helpful too
Trig is the best math class I've taken thanks to this professor. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to see everyone pass his class. Not too heavy on the homework and very thorough with review.
I really enjoyed calc three with this professor! He explains his problems with visuals to really help students grasp the concept. Also he is awesome at answering questions, even if it is just how did you do that step. I would recommend! Its hard work but worth it if you want to be an engineer.
I suck at calculus which is why I ended up with a C. But Professor Schultz is AMAZING. He is so caring. Every time I needed help he replied to emails right away. He offered amazing advice on how to pass. At times I did not believe in myself he told me he believed in me. I high recommend Professor Schultz.
He is an absolutely fantastic teacher. If you have the opportunity to take a math class from him, do yourself a favor and sign up! :)
The best math teacher. His study guide are just like the test so if you study these and do your homework its guaranteed that you will pass the class. if you come during his office hours he willing to go over anything you did not understand during class. Attendance is mandatory, he does use attendance as a part of your grade.
He knows definitely knows the math and really cares for his students. He records the lectures and provides the links so you can watch them if you need to review something. Definitely go to his office hours if you are struggling. The reason I got a C was because I procrastinated on studying and didn't always pay attention during the lectures.
I loved prof schultz! I took trig and calc 1 with him a few years back and he was SO nice and made me enjoy math. Each week he had an application day where he would tell us how what we were learning was applied in life. He was available and very willing to help outside of class too!! Solid guy!
I had Schultz for trig and he was amazing! I am someone who is really bad at math and I am not a fan of learning it at all and he made this class fun and enjoyable! If you work hard, complete all the group projects you will do great! He even offers 40 points of extra credit at the end so it'll bring you up almost a whole letter grade if you need it
