Very fun and interesting class which combined two subjects that are rarely integrated: pharmacology and drug marketing. Teacher was experienced in the field and thus able to use a more behind the scenes approach to teach us how to utilize the mindset of a drug marketing expert. Dr. Segarnick cares more about understanding than brute memorization.

Dr. Segarnick is truly the best professor. His class each week was always interesting, and I always found myself talking about the weeks topic thereafter. I wish there was more time to learn about all of Dr. Segarnick's pharma war stories!

You don't necessarily need to read the textbook chapters, but participation in class discussion is 30% of your grade so if the lecture is on a disease you aren't familiar with, you'll need to read first. One of the FEW that make you grateful to be in grad school and dive into topics in-depth. Even while he's modest in class, Dr. S is a badass in the pharma industry and has incredible experience. The Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Marketing course was an excellent blend of pharmacological principles and real-world pharmaceutical marketing strategies. The case-based approach made it easier to understand how drugs are positioned, differentiated, and marketed in a competitive industry.

Dr. Segarnick is great. The class is held once a week online, and it's about 90 minutes each. First 30 minutes discussion helped me a lot to review/understand the previous week material. You have to read a textbook prior to the lecture (it really helps to understand the lecture) which is free on line.

This is helpful to go over to understand the mechanisms and terminology that is used.
