This teacher is by far one of the best I have had class with, he makes you want to learn and his lectures are the best, he gives a great study guide and tests are exactly like the study guide, recommended for those who put just a little effort into class.

The Class is great, One of the best professors i've had in Miami Dade College. If you like history and even if you don't, this is a MUST HAVE.
Easy-going guy. Very cool. He has you write papers, but cite the essential info and you'll score well. Grading is easy and he teaches notes and gives reviews so well, I didn't buy the book or use the book, though I did use some American History books of my own. I walked out with an easy A.

Very cool professor. Attendance,notebook,and essay grades help make up for poor test grades. He makes lectures a lot more interesting than normal. Has a good sense of humor. Some might say he's boring, but he's not, it's just that you can only sit and listen to a lecture for so long. That's what history professors do. Lecture.

He actually makes history interesting, and he throws in his own little stories to keep you entertained. Very cute and sweet guy. HIGHLY recommended for anyone who has a hard time with history. His grading scale is almost impossible to make you fail.
He's a great teacher. He won't let you fail, but he doesn't let you slack. You need to be in class everyday and take notes. AND he's always available for questions.
This guy is the best history professor in MDC. The way he lectures, its as if he memorized the whole textbook. he offers an extra credit project in the class to replace your lowest exam grade. DO THE PROJECT! the way his grading scale is, there's no way to fail!
Very informative. He lectures a lot but he keeps everyone interested. His grading scale is top notch, and if you fail the tests, you can still pass by doing the extra assignments. He does wait till the end of class to take attendance, which caused me to be late numerous times, but other than that, I would highly recommend him for history teacher.
Get ready. He looooooves to lecture. Very nice guy, but he stretches the class as much as he could. If the class ends in 8:20, at 8:21 he is going over another topic. Inundates you with a lot of information. It gets to a point that no matter how much you want to focus, you lose him and start ignoring him. Take notes. He collects them.

This guy is the easiest teacher i have ever had! When you enroll into the class you are guaranteed a minimum grade of a "C." He gives you 5 grades two of them are for notes and attendence. TAKE THIS GUY!!!!!!!!!!
Not a difficult class to pass. outline and textbook chapters differ, bad joke teller but lectures are insightful, prefers answering questions after class, essays go beyond gordon rule, exams are easy as long as you study the review sheet, attendence and notes are two separate grades that are averaged into final grade. You'll survive his class!
He is a great professor. He realizes that the students have endure such a long class(summer term) and is understanding. He gives you a grade just for attendance! and a grade for your notes. If you study adn do the homework its an easy A. don't get dissapointed if you get a bad grade on the first test, its always the hardest. He is a cool teacher

this guy was one of the best teachers that i have had in my life..i'm gonna take AMH2010 with him too..very easy class but u have to study and take notes..really knows his stuff
pertty easy considering the min. grade you can get is a C because out of 5 total grades, 2 of them come from attendance and notes. Only bad thing is the long papers he makes you write, not because of the actual paper, but because he is a really hard grader on them and then combines both grades on the paper for a total of one grade. Study for tests!
Read the chapters at least twice so you know the material, he teaches well but the subject is VERY boring, don't take unless you have to.he gives you an extra credit asgn. & gives credit for attendance. Take him if you have to take this class, got a B, took it in 6-weeks, if you study hard you can get an A easily
Dr.Shaheen is an excellent teacher. Please make sure that you fallow his instructions very carefully. If you study what he tells you to study his test are pretty fair. But no worries he gives very easy extra credit. I failed his midterm and final but still manage to pass with a B because of his extra credit and his essays.
This teacher is awesome. He is very nice and respectful and really does try to help you as much as he can. I highly recommend him. I wish I had to take more history so I could have him again. Lots of ways to get credit. He gives A's for attendance notes and essays!!! HIghly recommended!!!!!
This is a great professor, i recommend him. His assingments are easy, just take notes, gives a specific review to study from and laught at his jokes which he sucks at. Other than that, he is an professor, very clear and not much homework and try not to be absent because he gives points just for showing to class...Great hu...

Dr. Shaheen is a great professor, he teaches with a lot of passion and knows a lot about everything. You DO HAVE TO go to class because he gives a grade letter that will help you towards the final. He has 2 essay and 3 tests (1 is the final) plus an optional book review. He is an excellent person. Highly recommended

Awesome teacher. Gives an attendence grade to boost score. Papers are grade by facts the more facts you have the better grade. Exams are rather tricky so study up (alot of the answer make sense so you need to know the stuject well.) Study guides are extremely helpful. Great teacher highly recommended.

Knows alot about history. Took him for Summer A. Had 2 essays which were easy. Had 3 tests which were specific. You really had to know your info. He gives review sheet before test. Gives an optional book review. Also gives you an attendance grade to help better your final score.
This is the worst teacher I ever had, does not help you at all. Marks you very hard and does not consider the hard work you put into it. He will give you back an ungrade essay and does not know what a book review really is.

This is an awesome teacher! He's the only Prof. I will miss from MDC. His lectures are, to my opinion, passionate, interesting and helpful. Loved, loved his classes. I took with him, AMH2010, AMH2020, and POS2041. Wish I would've had the time to take the WOH classes with him, too. Too bad! :( Gotta study hard for the 3 exams, though.

He is way too boring for my taste... he just talks and talks and talks and doesn't give you time to write down notes.. he is definitely passionate and very knowledgeable about what he teaches, but he jumps around from topic to topic. His tests are hard, and the papers you have to write are even harder! He is such a picky grader! I am an A student, but could not get higher than a C in his class.
He knows his history but is quite boring. On his essays (3 of them for the semster) I spent about ten hours each on the first two and less than two hours on the third. I received a B on all of them. I don't think he knows how to give an A. On the tests, I recieved two A's and a high B but still could not get better than a B for this class.
Professor Shaheen did NOT care if I learned. Lectures were extrodinarily boring. He failed to respond to student questions during class & discuraged any meaningful discussions. I felt humiliated when I asked questions relating to the course. The directions for the essays were misleading or inaccurate.
In my opinion, he was a good professor. 3 mandatory essays, 1 extra credit essay, 3 exams. He grades hard on the essays, but it's not impossible to get an 'A' on them. You will need to study for this class. You can reinforce what you learned during the lectures by reading the book.
He ruined my GPA.Expects you to write like Shakespeare. He is never satisfied with your Essay, no matter how hard you try, and his tests are extremely hard. I felt sad after each test, I red the entire book, knew every single detail and never got an A.The exams are multiple choice, but you never know the answer, because the options are confusing.
Hes boring, but thats the least of your worries, he doesnt review with you he just stands and lectures and you just gotta prepare on your own for the test, Hes rude, doesnt answer students questions in class, essays are ridiculous, he dropped me from the class and didn't notify me so i kept attending and even took the final...

Took him for the first 6 weeks and he is pretty straight forward. 3 tests and 2 essays, didn't do to well on first essay but overall the tests where his notes and the book and he makes attendance a grade which will help you in the long run. I ended up with a B not hard but not easy on the essay grading.

great lecturer. great powerpoint. knows alot about the government, current and otherwise. when you write your papers just remember to give credit to your sources an the actual paper, just not in the works cited. thing he may be a democrat?
Horrible. Absolutely no direction in his class. He honestly rambles about useless information that won't be on the test. He expects us to learn on our own. Graded on attendance, the papers are easy but the tests are only passable if youre a contributing author to his textbook. DO NOT TAKE, save your GPA. So boring you'll fall asleep guaranteed
Awesome professor, he is not biased, knows his stuff, although attendance is mandatory he wants his students to learn and not just skip class, 3 tests and 2 papers are it.
Very interesting class, 3 tests and 2 papers. One optional book review that can replace your worst grade. Good lecturer and if you are remotely interested in history you will like his class. Attendance is mandatory and if you leave early he will take you off the roster. If you're lazy/dumn (like one of the revieweres below me) stay at home.
For anyone who wants to boost there GPA and is not a big history person, DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. theres only 3 test including the final, and 2 papers. He's very smart,but you you have to read the book, his lectures WONT help you on the test or the papers

Mr. Shaheen is a great professor. As stated from the person before, he is a genius! You don't HAVE to buy the book but it comes in handy for study guides. The class itself is difficult, you HAVE to study. 3 tests, 2 papers and extra credit is available. Take him if you know you will study!
Professor Shaheen is great. Those that are leaving such horrible comments are either unfair, not putting forth a reasonable amount of effort, or not interested in history. He is very knowledgeable and he lectures well. Read the assigned chapters and pay attention to his interesting lectures and you will learn. Papers might be tough for some though.
Prof Shaheen is a excellent lecturer, completely knowing his topic inside out. Grades on attendance, which if you come is an easy grade. Tests require studying/comprehension of the material. Essays are graded fairly. One reviewed he lacks charisma, true, but if you can focus on *what* he is saying you will truly be able to master the material.
Pretty interesting class and easy going professor. His jokes are kinda corny but he's a nice guy. Studying is a must though - hands out print out of all the power point presentations which is helpful. 3 exams, 2 papers, and the final (+extra credit book review) - tests can be tricky and papers are he's a hard grader on papers. Dr.Shaheen is a great teacher if you forgive him for being a little shy and nervous sometimes.Attendance is mandatory,strict sign in sheet.The two essays are spaced fairly and he doesn't expect alot of serious thought from you.The exams are all multiple choice.Understanding US history can make you really thankful for the things we take for granted.

He's a god teacher and you can tell he loves history. The tests are pretty hard but he gives review sheets. There are four tests and a mandatory paper. At the end of the semester he lets you do another paper for extra credit and it replaces your lowest grade. He is a good teacher but the class gets a little boring sometimes.
This class is hard but he is a great professor and if you pay attention and keep up with his lectures you should be fine. Yes the essays are a bit challenging but the tests are exactly what he lectures you about in class. Ex. I got a C on both my essays and passed with a B because of the tests
He is an EXTREMELY harsh grader, I got a C in his class, and I am a straight A student except for this class, he gave me low grades on my essays and corrected everything as if what I wrote was absolutely terrible and I passed both ENC1101 and ENC1102 with an A. History is relative unlike math and science, perhaps he did not like my ideas, who knows
He is a good professor and his lectures are interesting. His class isn't that difficult his test are about what he lectures and if you also read about the material in his study guide in the book you will do fine on his test. I got B's on his essay's and a B average in his class. He's a good history professor.

If you're either naturally slow or lazy, do NOT take his classes -- in actuality, he is a flat-out amazing teacher. Crystal clear, extremely intelligent, and very helpful (you just have to seek it). He will make you work MUCH harder than other teachers at Dade, but it pays off. He is ideal for law students.
I have taken two classes with him already and can truely say he's a good professor. I'm not too crazy about his grading policy which is by letter grade, not points but the class is pretty easy. You just have to be in class, take notes and follow his study guides. There are two essays but those are also easy. Hes very knowledge and a really nice guy
6 grades: 3 tests (study!), 2 essays (use books, give examples!!!, don't use quotes), 1 attendance grade (show up to all classes!) I nearly got a B because I got 2 Bs on my essays 'cause I was too vague. Make sure you answered the complete question. The tests can be tricky. He is a little awkward, but very nice. He puts study guides online. Use em!
I was very interested in US history before I started this class. He makes the class a torture. He wants to believe all the students are majoring in History and they're taking the class because they LOVE History. He's a nice person and respectful but I don't recommend him as a teacher.

Ive taken 4 classes with professor shaheen, being a history major. i never found the class difficult, but i could see how those not well versed in history could. Ive never bought any of his books, and the essays were fine if you used tons of sources, he like to see you have done your research. Class is boring as hell but all you have to do is sit.

This guy is an excellent teacher, explains everything thouroughly, makes the material easy and believe it or not full of funny memorable memories, hardest part of class is the research papers where he is VERY stern about the format he wants,follow the format and youll be fine. tests are simple.

Excellent Professor, the best yet in History. One advice unless you are good at taking notes really fast, have a tape recorder, everything is in there and the book too. But it's easier from the class notes. Take advantage of all given opportunities by him during term.

Very good teacher. A great guy. Very passionate about what he does, and really makes an effort to engage his students into what he says. Go to class! At first I did follow the required reading, but I then just read the topics on the exam reviews and looked them up in Wikipedia. Try doing a good job on the essays (Lifesavers!). Cool class.
Very interesting class. Although a condensed version of American History,he does a very thorough job within the context of his curriculum. Very nice guy, but what he says; he says and that is final. Very easy class, crammed the night before each exam and got an A. Take this class forsure!!! A++++

Hate his class, this man all he does is talk & talk & talk & talk. writes nothing on the board. useless power points. never used the book. He doesnt teach he talks and expects everyone to understand what he is saying. cant stand his class. you cant even miss his class because he doesnt have a steady schedule! beware!!!!
He's very knowledgeable. The only thing I didn't like was the attendance policy. If you can't commit to coming to class EVERY day, you shouldn't take this course with him. Attendance is a grade. Other than that, he's great. You're going to have to study, it's not going to be an easy A. But hey, you're in college, that's how it's supposed to be.
For starters all he does is talk. His powerpoints are useless and is a very VERY VERY harsh grader.No matter how hard you try he wont give you a break, even if you study because if your paper has a 2% similarity to someones paper you get a D. I was dropped from his class because I missed 2 classes so beware. I will not take any class with him again
He's a very monotone and boring speaker. He grades attendance, which sucks. We only have 6 grades- 3 tests, 2 papers, and attendance. He offers a 5 page extra credit. Read the book and you should be fine

his lectures are sooo boring..he concentrates a lot on topics of the economy and politics..he does go over the power point somewhat but you would have to rely on the book...gives a weeks notice before quizzes and test and provides a study guide..There are 3 test and one book report

Hard and talks a lot. His power points are okay but you need to listen carefully because what he says and what is in the book are on the tests. I recommend this class for people who are auditory learners because he does not give handouts. His grading system is fair and by points. PAY ATTENTION!!!!!
Cool Professor; he enjoys his job and is a super history nerd. You ask and he knows the answer. He is geeky so getting along with him is easy. Work is a piece of cake as long as you follow along and take notes. I have already suggested him to a friend of mine. Good Teacher
One of my favorite professors by far! He is extremely intelligent and very, very nice. He is such a joy to talk to - this guy LOVES history and is super passionate about it. He's little awkward and geeky but also very kind, and if you're at all interested in history or just like to learn something new, you'll love him.
I took 3 courses with him,he's great!He knows his stuff and is very passionate and incredibly smart about what he teaches.People say his papers are difficult but they're really not,his formatting is easier than MLA.The reviews are straight from his lectures & PowerPoints,so you don't really need book.
Shaheen is a GREAT teacher. He's really funny and nice. I went to visit him in his office, and we had great conversations and some small debates. The only thing I don't like is no matter how hard you work, he won't bump you up if you're borderline to a grade. I had a really high B, and if he wanted to, he could have given me the A.
I didn't like him at all.. I didn't get his lecture half the time he spoke and he covered too much for me to remember on the test. On top of that, apparently the tests were only from the book. I only got by with my papers, and when I told him I didn't understand, he told me he didn't know what to do for me. Not helpful at all..
He knows the material well. He doesn't communicate it very well. He gets distracted very often and goes off topic for at least 10 minutes every class.

So upset and shocked by how he handle things when i asked for help. I had good grades, always attended. Until i had a medical issue and used up the two absences, then a family member passed and i told him so he could excuse it..he asked me for proof with my family member last name matching mine!! Needed proof of the burial... Incredible.
Taking this class was the biggest mistake I've ever made. I had never dropped a class before this one. He lectures the entire class time and test you on things that are not on the study guide. He gives two essays that have to be exactly what he wants or you get no grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

Take a double shot of coffee before going to his class if you want to stay awake through his lectures or a pillow so you won't smash your head against the desk when you fall asleep. Horrible monotone voice and bland teaching method. History does not have to be boring but somehow he does everything he can to make me fall asleep in class. He makes awful jokes that only he laughs at. I wish he'd use that energy to be humorous and put it into spicing up his teaching methods. Otherwise, fairly straight forward class. Study hard!

This man is disorganized, unfair, and extremely rude. Its 6 grades all weighting the same amount and that made me so happy but when I saw that he was the worst grader in the world I couldn't drop. Mr. Shaheen has so much information in that brain of his. He is very nice and makes sure to cover everything he should cover in class. Who ever fails this class is not paying attention or not trying to pass. There are a few quizzes and exams. Again, he's a very nice guy, but not a push over. Do the work.

He has a passion for histroy and teaches impromptu.. not looking at slides or notes... he knows what he's talking about.. take notes follow the study guide on his website and don't plagiarize. if its in your own words you'll be okay.. he's great.. trust.. I'm taking him again.

Talks till you are put to sleep! In the beginning of the semester he talked about history 247 nothing related to government. Tough grader on papers. You could write the best paper of your life and end up being a C or D. You basically teach yourself before the test with the study guides he gives. If you don't do the study guides you won't pass.
Do not take him if you need to take this class. He talks the whole class and it is hard to process it all at one time. After the first 15 min it goes in one ear out the other. His exams are difficult. They are multiple choice but he uses big words and useless info to throw you off. He wants you to fail. Also his papers are graded like a ENC class
Dr. Shaheen speaks well and makes class very interesting. This was a class I needed to take to meet a requirement and this professor made the class seem appealing. I feel I learned a lot and I am very grateful for GREAT professors like this at Miami Dade, Kendall Campus! I did not apply myself to my full potential and was able to make a B.
My first day of class was so boring. Point blank period, if you dont want to fall asleep in his class sit in the front. His class is boring BUT he is very organized. he dont give powerpoints during class. He talks you write. He is my only teacher who gives you study guides on his website. Turnitin is required. And you need the textbook
OKAY, a 3 page paper isn't a long paper so don't complain. Prof. Shaheen can be slightly boring when he gives his lectures but her is nothing but helpful, he'll stay after class for unanswered questions. DO NOT miss writing the papers they can really make or break your grade. Tests were ok, you'll need scantrons, and make sure to read the chapters!

He knows what he's talking about but he talks throughout the whole class most of the time he'll even keep you for 10 minutes after the class. Tests are really hard, 5% of what he talks about in a class is on the testquizzes. He won't repeat or tell you what is important for tests. Be prepared for a very boring class.

Such an easy class to pass, but he makes it difficult; his study guides are no help when it comes to his tests and quizzes. Though, he does know his stuff... I personally would not take him again.
Unfortunately if you are into asking question on specific topic he discussing he hates it. He seems bothered everytime you ask question. Something I definitely didn't like about him. He also makes sarcastic jokes toward the topic when is unnecessary. And be prepared to stay till the end of the lecture and maybe even after the class ends.

This professor is a kind man. Very practical in his thinking. His lectures had the perfect amount of information not being redundant or irrelevant. MDC is lucky to have him!
Professor Shaheen only gives six grades: 2essays, 3exams (he provides study guides),and 1for attendance. He doesn't provide any presentations for his lectures, his classes are more about listening and taking notes. Aside from that you also have to read the textbook. If you are a visual note-taker then don't get this class, or it'll be challenging.

I'm not going to lie Prof Shaahen is there for you when needed but, his class is extremely challenging. His monotone voice makes this subject dull, you literally fall asleep in class. The study guide does help, for half of the quiz and when grading the 2 essays we were assigned, let's just say he's a hard grader. I don't recommend taking him.
If your looking for an easy A, DO NOT take this class. He's a tough grader and makes you work for your grade. But, he is nice and will help you if you make an effort. Don't bother with the book, make sure you ask relevant questions and even google stuff on your own. 2 essays, 3 tests, 1 attendance grade - which is an easy A so stop complaining.

Was very disappointing since I couldn't be able to pass his class. I love U.S. History, but the fact that he kept us staying in the 19th century for so long, I never get a chance to learn the 20th until the the end of the 3rd month. He is a fair teacher but is not very clear with the test he gives.
So basically this was just a class i needed to finish my AA. Should have been easy but this was my hardest class! He gives 2 papers to be done and 3 to 4 exams depending on the time. No homework at all and is a tough grader. His tests are very tricky, multiple choice but all the choices are a like. When doing his papers make sure you give examples!

I enjoyed Prof. Shaheen class. Students will have to work for their grade. However, this should come to no surprise since it is a college level course. Three test, but he provides reviews, if you study the reviews, you will pass. Also, two papers that you must do research, if you leave it for the night before you will get a bad grade.

Professor Shaheen is caring and wants his students to succeed. He is a nice person, but the class is very auditory. The essays are pretty tough (I passed each one with a B). I took this class as a mini-term, and had trouble paying attention after two hours. You should pass as long as you study for the tests.
He's an okay professor. During lectures, he has a tendency to drift off to a related topic that is irrelevant to what he will be testing for. He assigned two papers for us to do and also gave out four tests, with the final being for extra credit only to replace our worst grade.

Professor Shaheen is probably the most monotone professor I've had. He has 2 essays which he probably grades more harsh than any English professor I've had. He doesn't stay on tract during his lectures, and the study guides he gives for the tests are very vague. If there's another professor you can take PLEASE DO SO.
Boring teacher. Very monotone and gets off track so much you forget what hes even teaching. Only 5 assignments so if you mess up on one and are an average student get ready to fail or take an optional final. I wouldnt take his class ever again and suggest you skip on taking him.

However, you do need to pay attention and make good notes and read the chapters if you want to pass the exams. He will always post reviews.
If you happen to enjoy history,politics, etc then you might find this class interesting and easy as i did. If your not into those things, i can see why this class might be a little challenging. Other than that i think shaheen is a cool guy.
Professor Shaheen was very boring and a tough grader. We had two papers for the course and he would look for the smallest things to take off points. His tests are very similar to his study guides, however he does add extra material from class. Its not a hard class to pass, but he is not a good professor at all.

Professor Shaheen really knows his subject so get ready to PAY ATTENTION, take notes, and learn. There are a few multiple choices tests and that is about all he grades on but still expects you to attend class. If you skip his class, don't expect to receive mercy on your ending grade for the course.

I took this professor for AMH2020 and INR2002, the lectures are boring if you dont like the topic. No power point so make sure you pay attention when hes talking, gives study guide for both of the exams. Make sure you study, there is only 2 exams and 2 writing assignments. One optional final. The book was useful to solve the study guide only.
He sits for the whole class talking and has nobodys attention. His tests have nothing to do with what he says, if you do the review you will do good. He is a tough grader on papers and is very on top of attendance
Is it easy to pass this class? Yes. Is it easy to end up with an A in this class? No. As a teacher, he is okay, very humble. But as engaging students, he is very bad. Attendance is 1/5 of your grade. He passes the attendance roaster at the end of class, basically, you can skip until the last minute of class and still you can mark yourself present.

People who struggled the most were those who didn't show up or didn't pay attention in class. tip- print out the study guide and answer the questions in class.
I love this professor. Took him for International relations class and history since 1877 and I can say that I miss him. Amazing in what he teaches. Lectures are long, he talks the whole time, you need to make notes. Study guides are exactly what is on the test, tests are easier than you would expect but you need to study for them.

He makes jokes and puts examples of everything but still, there are so many things that sometimes even he loses his train of thought so it can get hard. I missed the first 2 classes due to an emergency & emailed him telling him I would come next class. My 1st day he told me not to sign the roaster & that he would assign me a number after class. He lowered my final grade A to a B & he said I wasn't there I had to take the case to the dean who changed it. He knew he was wrong but fought me every step
He has no powerpoints, its him just talking. I tried very hard to pay attention and he was so boring. He grades your essays like hes a critic of the New York Times and not to mention his handwriting is horrible! How are you going to critic me on my writing when I couldnt even understand his. Great teacher and a great choice during this time of Coronavirus. Could be a bit more spontaneous and maybe a bit more energetic lecture wise, but he was a smart and fair teacher who even gave short breaks during the halfway point of class. Glad to have taken him, even if I'm not a fan of US History.

I strongly suggest that you don't take this professor!!!! He talks way too much and he is very slow with his powerpoints. His class lectures are monotonic and he will spend over a month on the same slide. His tests have a slim chance of being similar to the exam review. Overall, you can follow his instructions and he will give you an unfair grade.
Professor Shaheen was an amazing professor. His class requires lots of independent studying but it is completely manageable. I enjoyed every one of his classes, and he was always respectful. He is clearly passionate about politics and has even made me interested in politics.
One of the best professors at MDC. Incredibly inspirational and knowledgeable. He truly knows his subjects and can have amazing conversations. Took him for both POS2041 and AMH2010. 5 grades - 2 exams, 2 papers, and attendance. Also, has an optional final exam to replace lowest academic grade! His classes are a pleasure! Thank you, Professor!
Only 5 grades for semester. Lectures felt pointless & unrelated to material on exams. 2 essays, 2 exams, 1 attendance grade. Do the study guides & you'll pass the exams. He's a constant complainer. If you are a slacker, I wouldn't take him. His grading system is very easy to understand. His time management skills aren't the best so prepare to cram.
He is a great teacher. take him even though he is boring , I learned a lot. Melissa Buhler is worst than him . If you are not liberal then she will screw you. Shaheen is neutral
Professor Shaheen was average. Not a great professor, but not a bad professor either. He never really answered emails, but he did have a solid study guide for his quizzes which is what I cared about. It was basically two main papers and two tests which were simple. Nothing crazy. If you want to pass easily, take it with him, not super demanding.
At first glance it seems like a very good way to teach: read the information and do your own work yourself; but what this teacher does is ask us to read all the chapters of the book and get what we can for the exams. It seems to me that that's not the right thing to do.
Worst Professor ever. Please dont take this Professor. He is super rude and sarcastic. I was in the hospital and have prove of it and he still didnt let me make up the last test. This teacher is just a mess. I really wouldnt recommend him to anyone.
Please don't take him. I took him for the summer. It's the biggest mistake I have made. He gives good lectures and is very detailed, but he is very picky, the test is very hard, the paper assignment is very hard. All the tests are in the lockdown browser. Just take his class if you understand political science and know all the important dates.
Do not take him! He only puts five grades for the entire semester! He grades extremely hard, very picky, and doesn't give you the opportunity for extra credit. Not one. He's not mean, but if you want to pass this course, choose another teacher.
There are 6 grades: 2 writing assignments, 2 tests( not proctored), optional final (not proctored), attendance graded. Professor said to get the book but never ended up using it.
Pay attention as much as possible to his lectures, they will really help you in the end and when it comes to his proctored exams. His essays are what killed me but it is 100% possible to get an A on them. He knows what he wants and the sooner you figure out what that is for your specific class, you'll be better for it.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! The exams are the most horrible thing. The "reviews" he gives are short answer base so if you even answer it wrong you have no idea and no answers in the "reviews" he gives are in the book so your stuck googling. then the exam uses a platform that does not allow to review answered questions so once your done your done.
Hes very laid back and relaxed when he lectures. He is very informed, a great teacher and he makes it easy to understand the subject
By far one of the EASIEST classes I have ever had. His class was so easy and laid back. I went to every single one of his classes and was granted an extra credit A just for attending. He gives little homework (for his POS2041 class at least) and tests were easy as his test reviews helped me a lot. Attend his class, and you will pass easily.
Lack of empathy and assistance in helping students understand the material creates an unwelcoming learning environment. Disorganization in teaching complicates the situation leaving students feeling lost and frustrated. Teacher's unresponsiveness to emails adds an additional layer of difficulty communication essential for clarification and support.
He's a good teacher
For me, it has been my easiest serious class so far. The lectures were very solid and he was nice and respectful all the time. The grading system is very well structured and specifically made for everyone to pass the class without tons of hours of study, just pay attention to the lectures and review his notes for every assignment on time.
I would want him to be fired. I studied really hard and he gave me nothing but a lower grades. I hate him and his boring lecturing moments. He taught us nothing
Our entire final grade consisted of 4 easy multiple choice test (none are cumulative) and 2 even easier in class essays. He also drops your lowest grade if you don't miss more than 2 classes. Easiest class I've ever taken. He also is a good lecturer. Super nice guy. Easy material. Stuff you learned in high school.
Profesor was on of the worst professors i have taken so far here in mdc he's super unwelcoming he assigns no he gives 3 test and 2 writing assignments he only does letter grades he's very old school only lets u use scantrons and green books, very long lectures makes us all late to our next class because he won't dismiss us on time no consideration
Best professor I've had in MDC, if you're passionate about politics you won't regret taking this class as every lecture is interesting and you'll definitely leave knowing something new
This professor is honestly one of the worst ones I've ever had. His style of teaching is story like, which makes it impossible for me to take any significant notes. He's horrible at grading, literally had a writing assignment and test back to back, just for him to assign another test for the week after and blamed it on the school.

He gives you an attendance incentive grade, if you miss fewer than two classes he will drop your lowest grade for an A. Show up and PAY ATTENTION! TAKE NOTES! He also posts reviews for exams a few weeks prior
I made the msitake of taking it in summer with POS2041, but He was a very good professor overall, he explains and helps with doubts, I dont know in a normal term but deffinately dont take it in summer because its only 5 grades throughout the whole course.
He is extremely good, he is a dedicated and passionate professor, even though his methods of testing are antique, but they are kind of bulletproof, if you love history, and want to really learn, go for him, if you ever see this professor, you are awesome.
Personally, he was not a good professor. He made no sense when lecturing and would sometimes go completely off topic. I had to drop his class cause it was horrible. He would make us stay 10-15 minutes after classes ended to continue talking and to take attendance. Everyone in class could be asleep or on their phones. Do not recommend.
There's honestly no homework and his exams are pretty easy (all multiple choice) he just puts the exams on like the worst day possible. His in class writing assignments is what kinda got me but if you study and meet with him it'll go ok. But him as a person, he is literally the sweetest person ever and cares a lot about his students.
This class is just him lecturing. He is a very nice person and a good professor. If you need to get a certain grade on something to pass the class he will be sure to let you know and remind you which I appreciate. You're graded on a few things but he gives you a study guide and if you use it to study, you'll pass
Shaheen's teaching style is antique, but he only wants you to succeed. You're given a free A by having good attendance, and offers an optional final to drop your lowest grade. You're graded on 2 writing assignments and 3 multiple choice exams, just take VERY good notes to study and you'll do fine. He posts reviews weeks in advance so you have time.
