If you go to class you will get an A
No Comments
Easy going guy. If you go to class every day you will surely get an A. You'll also learn a lot!
very clear and makes class very interesting, if you go to class, youll get an A for sure, he emphasizes what u need to know very clearly and is a really nice guy. tests are almost all T/F and you need to know ur definitions right down to exact words.
Great guy, very funny and makes sure you know what's going to be on the tests. Just show up and take notes and its an easy A.
He is the best teacher I have ever had. He geniunely wants you to do well. If you go to class and study, you will get an A. He gives you excellent notes and if you know them, you will do well. He tells you...word for word...what is expected on tests!
Slaughter is the best teacher I have ever had hands down. Go to class, TAKE NOTES and that is it. Study the notes for the test and you are home free. Plus he has a funny personality.
Don't take this class period. Boring and a lot harder than this site makes him out to be.
VERY easy teacher if you go to class. Tells you exactly what to study for test. Sometimes likes to chime in with political views, but if you can withstand that he is actually a really good teacher and a nice guy.
He is a funny teacher who is extremely fair and is willing to work with the students... you must attend class to do well on tests b/c his lectures are 100% the test material
He is very nice, and tries to be comical. He will help you whenever you need it, and his tests are fair. He makes it very clear what you need to know.
the tests are very tricky so study your notes meticulously. good teacher
Writes down WORD FOR WORD what you need to know for tests. MUST go to class. If you go to class, u can't get lower than a B+. test questions can be tricky though.
Good teacher, but he has a tendency to ramble on about things you don't need to know. Go to class and write down everything he says to because that's exactly whats on the tests. Tests are kinda tricky with a lot of true false questions.
Attend all lectures and take notes and you are golden. Good teacher, good man.
great guy
Good teacher he's very helpful. Take precise notes and study your notes very careful and read the tests carefully and you'll do fime.
Dr. Slaughter is an excellent professor of criminal law and criminal procedure (and probably evidence, although I never had him for that). Take precise notes & study your assigned caselaw. He uses e-mail, and is always accessible to his students. A+
This man is an "Awesome" professor. Funny, witty, and very interesting to listen to. A+ Very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. I've taken him for both criminal procedure and criminal law. My only complaint is I wished he taught more
Dr. Slaughter is an AWESOME professor! He's so nice and funny. He is always willing to help. I had him for both criminal procedure and criminal law and I wish he taught even more classes. He will tell you exactly what to write and what will be on the test
Absolutely one of the smartest people I have ever met, genuinely cares if his students get the material, and a wonderful human being.....I want to be like him when I grow up!
Easy take notes and pass
Dr. S is the greatest! He is very smart and still practices. He gives you all the info you need in class and is willing to help. Tests can be tricky but go to class write down EXACTLY what he says to, and you'll be fine. Take him for all classes possible!
I have taken every class he teaches. He is awesome!!You can't fail this class as long as you write down exactly what he says.I'm sad he doesn't teach anything I need to take.
EAsy just show up to class, he tells you exactly whats on the test.
GREAT PROFESSOR!! Would definately take him again. Had him for criminal law and for criminal procedure. He is so clear as to what will be on the test which is right from the notes. Gives x-tra credit points and he is very nice and helpful. Definately take him.

Easy class, but very boring! He tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests, so you should have no problem getting a good grade.
This course felt like it lasted for ever because he talks so much..... ekk
He is by far the best teacher in the department. Though he tells you exactly what is on the test, you still learn a lot. Would recommend taking him for every class he teaches.
He is a good teacher, he teaches like he is in the 19th century no notes displayed, just talks and you have to pick out the important parts. He does stop to mention the more important parts, but he is harder than what his rating really is.
If I ever get accused of something.....I am calling Dr. Slaugher! He's the man!
Dr. Slaughter is the man! You don't have to do useless busy work, no homework, and he tells you exactly what you need to know for the exams! Sounds perfect right? Wrong...don't think this class is going to be a walk in the park. There's a lot of information you need to memorize for tests! If you put your time in it's easy to do well.
dont take him his tests are over everything he lectures in class however if u hate true and false he will trick you! dont take him its a waste trust me
He is a very good teacher but is test are a joke. I would love to just take him for lectures if it didn't count for a grade but it does so I probably won't take him again.
I prefer studying from a book, rather than write down what the professor says word for word. If you take Slaughter then his classes are all lectures where you listen and writen down exactly what he says. Tests are TRICKY i'll be honest, however i did learn quiet a lot from him.
Slaughter is the man!... and he is the man's man, too, if you know what i mean ;) Great class, take it if your memoriazaton hasn't been drained yet - need to memorize notes for A's on tests :). i've had him twice and am taking him again before i graduate. You will learn in his classes.
He is a great teacher. You will learn a lot from him. However, I do agree with the other comment on here. It would be nice to just go to class and listen to him lecture to learn without taking tests where you have to know every word he said in class.
DON'T TAKE HIM, unless you want to memorize word for word every single word he tells you to write in class, he gives true false, multiple choice and short answer. Even though i thought his lectures were cool, i don't remember anything i learned cause i spent too much time memorizing rather then understanding and learning.
I got two Bs on the first two tests, but even I felt I did a good on the third test, I ended up with a C on his class. IT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED b/c I studied hard to get at least a B on his class. DO NOT TAKE HIM UNLESS U R GOOD MEMORIZING A LOT!
I've taken Slaughter for all of his classes..easist professor ever! if you can't memorize good luck in law school...you study your notes thats it ...dont even waste time with the textbook, come to class it's a must...I've gotten A's in every class with studing the night before...you memorize the law...that's what all law studies classes are.....
TRUTH-wake up, if learning is memorization-no 1 learns anything. A real teacher can teach with minimal memorization since we all know what 1 memorizes for a test is Forgotten. To compliment him misleads future students, he is a big JOKE, not a teacher, a time waster, U cannot apply anthing he teaches to your future. AVOID, WAKEUP! or Fool urself!
I took him for Criminal Procedure and Criminal Law. Both classes were very straightforward. He tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. It is a lot to memorize, but his tests aren't tricky. If you know your material well, you will get an A. I'd rather memorize everything he says rather than pay for a book.
Great guy. He's a walking text book. You will need to memorize a lot of material, but if you plan to work as a legal pro, learning this will forever help you.
Prof. Slaughter was entertaining...I had him for four hours a day, twice a week, and I actually looked forward to going to class. He makes it interesting and pertinent to daily situations. Crim Pro is pretty textbook to begin with, but he made sure he got the important points across. I highly recommend him! :)
Dr. Slaughter is very straight forward with the necessary material. It's all memorization and a lot of it. He's funny and commands his classroom. Tests are intense but as long as you study you'll do fine. He doesn't require attendance but if you don't go you're missing out on guarenteed test material.
As most comments say, its all memorization. Dont buy the book you wont use it. He is very helpful when it comes to anything. If you have a heavy school load and you dont want to read, take his class, just review the notes for about 15 minutes a day, a week before the test and youll get an A in the class. 3 tests, and a few easy assignmets
Great teacher! Straight foward. It is what it is!No book needed.I will DEFINITELY take him again any time I have a change. It is a lot of memorization but he makes the class so interesting that after all it is not so hard. Take him if you can.
This guy is the criminal law master. He knows everything out there. You don't need to necessarily attend every time but get good notes from a friend. Don't take the class by yourself. Also his tests are very tricky compared to how plain his notes are. He likes you to apply his criminal defense theories. Just wish the tests were easier.
Criminal law class was very easy. Take good notes, and listen and you'll ace the course. Loved the class, Take it!!
Took him for criminal law. Gives you all the notes that you will need to study for the exam. Very straight forward and you know what he expects of you. Its refreshing to see a professor who does not want to set his students up for failure. Taking him again for Criminal Procedures!
professor slaughter is very straight forward with what he expects from the class. if you go to class and take notes easy A... he will give you all the material you will have to know for the exams. I recommend him!
Practice your short term memorization for this class. You will not be expected to remember much from exam to exam. If you can do this you will make an A in this class. The beauty bout this class is you can remember nothing from it later and still have made an A in it!
By FAR my favorite professor at UCF. If you want to learn and also get an A, take a class with Dr.Slaughter. He lays out the entire class in lecture and tells exactly what will be on the test. He says at the beginning that if you pass his class you will be able to pass the criminal law portion of the bar exam, and i believe him...
Great criminal law professor, he gives EXCELLENT notes. no hw, no book. Test questions can be tricky, but if you study the notes hard enough, you will easily get an A on the 3 tests.
he was a really great teacher i took two of his classes, hes jokes maybe a little dry but he knows what hes talking about. the tests are based on the notes so you dont have to show up but like he says make a friend! no hw and he helps by giving bonus question. love him and im planning to take him again
He rants about stuff that has NOTHING to do with class for most of the class time. If you are willing to put up with that the class is ok. If you just want someone to get to the point then DO NOT take this class.
Not sure why he got so many good reviews. Goes off on rants, makes inappropriate jokes that are not even funny. Tests are based off the notes, but he makes the test questions VERY tricky! I am an A student, and I am struggled to keep a B in this class!
The easiest class I have ever taken. Most of the stuff he talks about you do not need to know for the test, but he tells you what to write down. Study the notes and you'll get an A no doubt. No trick questions on exams and always gives a really easy extra credit question. He says if you do well in his class then you'll do well on the Florida Bar
I will be taking my 3rd class w/ Slaughter. Previously, I've taken Civil Procedure & Evidence. Got A's in both. The classes aren't too hard as long as you study ALL the notes! There is a lot of studying but the material isn't difficult. He tries to simplify everything for you to understand, but it can get boring. Great learning experience. Take him
Attendance isn't mandatory but you should show up to take notes because the notes are very detailed and the exams are tested on only what's discussed in class. The exams are difficult and it's easy to be tricked. This is a great class for people who are good at memorization because exams are almost word for word what are in the notes.
Professor Slaughter is definitely one who is not afraid to speak his mind, but this was a very good class. It was very informative and not difficult at all. There were a few simple tests and writing assignments that were basically handwritten for us. I will definitely be taking more classes with him.
Extremely Liberal and talks about it alot! Once he actually starts talking about class material, he is a good professor. No book needed. Study the class notes and tests will be easy.
Excellent Teacher, Lectures on everything you need to know for the course and for the future if you want to go into law.
Crim law class. EZ. Find a friend so u can copy their notes w photocopy machine, LOL. He gives 3 exams w extra credit on them. Got A's on all of them. He has some war stories, it they are not too bad. He doesn't care to know student individually so don't bother. Highlight your notes, as you learn material only read what u don't know. Flash cards+
Dr. Slaughter is awesome! He cares about his students and wants everyone to pass his class and do great. He is one of the best prof. at UCF. There are only 3 tests (NOT cumulative), extra credit on tests/attendance and no book. All you have to do is show up, pay attention and study the notes he gives you from lectures and you will get earn an A.
If you attend class you should do fine. Grade consists of 3 tests and attendance at a mock trial at the end. The best test counts twice. Grade is based out of 400 points and 360 earns an A. Tells you exactly what is on the tests, but keep the book if you plan on attending law school.
Slaughter tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. He does ramble and tell stories and he definitively bags on Republicans so if you're right-wing you may be offended.
Easy class if you show up. If you don't, you'll be studying endless amount of information you don't need to. He literally gives you notes, tells you whats on the test, and that's the semester. 3 tests, highest counts twice. I will say that his tests are tricky, but in a good, challenging way. Memorization is key in this class. I would take again!
This class is great! He gives you the notes a week ahead of time so that he doesn't have to stop in the middle of lecture to wait for people to take notes. There are three tests and 10 short assignments that he does for you in class so GO TO EVERY SINGLE CLASS and you will not get anything but an A in his class.
There is no textbook, he types up the notes and emails them out a week or so before you start the section. Notes are extremely clear and his lectures are very understanding. Counts highest test grade twice, only three tests. Gives some extra credit. He likes to joke and is very funny. Take this class if you want to learn a lot and laugh A LOT!
Great professor. Will walk you through it to get an A, then it's up to you. Interesting lectures, even for a liberal. You do need to study but he does everything to make your job easy for you. I would definitely recommend him. You do not need a text book!
Professor Slaughter is a good professor. He's nice and answers any questions asked. A lot of memorization but otherwise his tests are simple. Funny guy.
Horrible teacher. All he does is talk about things that aren't important or essential to the class. He must be lonely and bored because you will stay for the whole class and HATE it. Time will go by really slow. Like really slow. Do not take, that's all I can say.
Awesome class. Most recommended and Easy A. He is a very funny guy, and if you are a Republican, you might not want to take this class. He talks bad about you, every chance he gets. Only 3 test, and all notes are given to you. You dont have to read, and study the notes that he gives, remember them and you will pass the test. His notes are the test.
He is very knowledgeable, and gives you all the tools you need for an A. His tests are clear and follow the notes he provides to a tee. No textbook for this class, which is really nice. If you show up for class, he does give opportunities for extra credit. His grading is fair. You take 3 tests, and he doubles your best grade.
Never went to class and still got an A because I studied the notes he sent out super hard and did well on the tests. If you're not able to do that then I highly recommend that you go to class. Besides he is really funny so class isn't boring.
I love slaughter. His jokes are a bit harsh but take them with a grain of salt and don't let them bother you because he won't stop if you are offended. His lectures are of the notes that he sends out for you to print beforehand, but i wouldn't recommend skipping class because he explains them very clearly. I have an A right now just from listening
Horrible. He's so liberal it's disgusting. Lectures are long and boring, plus criminal law sucks. Do not take.
Gives a lot of extra credit. Tries to be funny but if you're easily offended stay away. Teaches from notes only. Tells you EXACTLY what will be on the tests. You have to study hard but can end up with nearly a perfect score like I did. He teaches up to the minute on the schedule but lectures are fairly interesting. The final is just the third test.
I did not learn a single thing about Criminal Law. All he talks about is his personal political beliefs; his liberal agenda gets very old, regardless of your party. I was excited to take this class and was left disappointed and irritated. I learned absolutely nothing. I spent class time working on other classes I was so put- off.
Slaughter is definitely a professor I will take again. No textbook necessary and attendance is not mandatory. There are THREE tests all semester. Thats it. Study hard for them and you'll pass the class with an A or B. His lectures are a filled with a lot of Trump jokes, but if you can handle poor comedy, it's worth going to class for extra credit.
Dr. Slaughter is genuinely a great professor. Yes, he is very liberal and unafraid to tell you all about it but he's also extremely kind. There is no text book and his notes are very good. I've never reviewed a professor before and probably never will again but I 100% recommend Dr. Slaughter.
Slaughter is very annoying & uses the entire 3 hour class to discuss his personal political views. However, I would recommend the class b/c its easy. Don't go to class until test review days & he will tell you exactly what will be on the test from the study guide. No textbook, just memorize specified things from study guide & you'll be great.
TAKE HIM! He's a great Professor you won't regret it!
An easy class. You have three tests and he gives you all the notes you need to study. Attendance isn't mandatory, but definitely go to class because he tells you exactly what you need to know for the test. Honestly, I am the most left-leaning person, but his political tirades tired even me out. Wish he would have taught more actual substance.
Amazing and funny!!! Just make sure you attend class and circle the sections he says will be tested on.
Professor slaughter is an "old school" style lecturer. He is easily the most competent legal studies professor on campus and quite humorous at times, but his teaching style is, honestly, very dry. Personally, I find him rather entertaining and the content of his courses to be remarkably interesting; if you are open-minded and sensible, take him.
I love Slaughter as a professor. Though he goes on political rants pretty often, he is a great lecturer and very knowledgable in his field. He can ramble, but he is always available to ask questions. I'm going to miss his daily "I hate Trump" rants. He gives extra credit on the exams, but there's not a ton of grades, so be careful.
There is no need to buy the book. He provides the class notes and thats literally what the exams consist of. He does give a lot of extra credit to help with your grades. The exams can also be quite confusing so make sure you pay attention to the questions. His lectures are boring and he tries to be funny. There's also writing assignments.
If you want a professor that's going to crack jokes, talk about his political beliefs, and go off on tangents- this is your guy! He does not do a good or thorough job of explaining things or making it interesting- and he can't finish a thought without going off on a political rant. I, by no means, as a Trump fan but my goodness we get it sir!!
Slaughter is the best! He is extremely funny and cares about his students and really wants you to do well. Dont get the textbook, you wont use it. He provides class notes, definitely print these out and have them during class time, he goes over them and points out test material. Only one assignment and 3 tests. Definitely attend class to do well.
I took both Evidence and Crim Pro with Dr. Slaughter. He's got decades of experience and clearly knows his stuff. His classes are all about the lectures. You MUST show up and take notes to do well. Has a tendency to go off on political rants & other tangents. Never met a Trump joke he didn't like, so be warned. Overall very good.
This was my first time taking Slaughter. He uses the textbook to reiterate what he writes on his notes (so I barely used it tbh). He has a habit of going off on a tangent when discussing something in class but it helps when needing examples. Go to class, pay attention, and study his notes like crazy & you will pass his exams no problem.
Dr. Slaughter is easily my favorite professor at UCF. He goes over exactly what will be on the tests in class and the tests are very straightforward with no trick questions. Attendance isn't graded but it is a lot easier to do well in his class if you actually go to class than if you only show up for tests.
I really enjoyed his class. He spends the first 5-10 minutes talking about current events, which I wasn't always that into, but when he teaches, his examples are excellent and he helps you to learn. If you go to class regularly, you can make decent grades even without a ton of outside studying.
He is just OK. He spends a little too much time talking about politics and not the material itself. The tests are weird (short answer tests) and the grading procedures are eh. Good heart and clear vision, just different grading and teaching style.
Dr. Slaughter is a nice, funny man but his teaching style is just not for me.. he goes off topic way too often and its difficult to follow his lectures. His grading criteria is NOT clear and the assignments are very difficult. At first he provides a lot of help with the assignments and then later on in the semester youre on your own.
He is a cool Professor, he rants about Trump a lot which was funny. His tests are open book so they aren't too hard, I enjoyed his class.
