Great teacher interesting lectures; however he does give a lot of HW and long projects. It’s hard to get an A but a B is doable. I got 1 A and 2 B’s from him. Just make sure you do the HW and do well on the essays because his multiple choice tests can be hard.

You must work to get his respect and don't be late or you'll miss a quiz. He keeps things so interesting. It was the perfect 8am class to wake me up instead of put me back to sleep. Dave is a challenging professor. Don't be afraid to answer in class, even if you're wrong, its better that he knows your face. His classes are usually full at the beginning of the semester. So I suggest arriving early to secure your seat.

He is fun to learn with and he has a way of teaching where you get everything he says. I don't get completely lost and he understands if you are having a hard time. As long as you speak to him, he is flexible to your needs if its an emergency.

Wow, i used to hate history!I took his class and he changed the way i thought about history. Very informative. He loves what he does.He makes history so easy. Attendance is key. Reading is a must.You have to answer questions for each chapter. He shows videos and you have to answer a multiple choice questions. They are easy.

Great teacher, very energtic, he loves history. If you ask a question he will answer it and give you back round story.Be prepared to take notes and study the book. As long as you do the chapters on time, read the book and take notes you will pass the class easy. even though what he talks about isn't always on the test he's so much fun it's ok.

Professer Smith is tough. You will work for your grade there is know way to skimp and pass his class. He can be belittling at times without thought. Do the work and dont be afraid of the belittling when asking questions and you will pass. however, He is the most talented professer on campus.

However, if you are taking a class for an easy A this is not the class for you. You must do the work and study for the tests, but if you put in the effort, you will get a good grade.

I am a health science major taking his class only for my BA requirement. So, even though the work assigned isn't difficult, it is EXTREMELY time consuming. If you love history, Great. The best History Professor at WLAC. Deserves to be teaching at the UC level. His history classes are amazing. Lectures are better than the history channel. Yes, you will have to put in work but he makes it fun and interesting. He gives out study guides for exams so no excuse for not doing well unless you're lazy. Test are 50% lectures 50% textbook.

Prof. Smith is an excellent history teacher. He plays classic rock music before class starts. However, don't take his good nature for granted. He knows who shows up for class, who isn't there, and who walks in late, and he'll lower your grade at the end of the semester. I should have earned an A and got a B because I missed several class sessions.

He is an excellent teacher who cares about his students. The best part is when he's giving a history lecture and he starts using different accents to elaborate on his point. Speak loud and make sure you're looking at him when you speak to him, because he's deaf as a post, probably from listening to loud rock music all his life.

There is a lot of reading but I found all the material interesting and I went in thinking this history 12 course would be boring. He made the course interesting and funny, for an online class. Would take again. Highly recommend taking him, Tests are based off his study guides which is highly helpful.

We just finished the semester and he was the best history teacher even though it was online he was great. We did 6 assignments, 13 discussions, 2 exams and 1 final. To be able to do pass you must do good in the tests. Discussions are from chapters you have like 3 -5 different topics you can answer one from each chapter. It is easy you need the book

Great Professor, made class interesting via video lectures, responds quickly. Lots of reading, slides and video lectures. Weekly workload is manageable however Exams are hard.

The video lectures were super interesting. Sadly it did not reflect on my test. The test is long and hard. Critical thinking and timed with two hours to answer 70 questions or so. He is a great teacher, makes subject interesting but the test were too hard for me.

He is tough and will make you really work! BUT, considering that history was my very least favorite subject of all time, I really enjoyed it! I took this class as a 5 week online course. It was intense and there was a lot of work but if you follow the directions that are very clear and do the work it's easy to pass. He made it fun and had his own online lectures which was awesome.

David Smith is fair, compassionate, actually cares about his students progress, makes the class interesting and challenging, but with a structure that makes it easy to learn. I would take ANY of his classes, required or not! His sense of humor and commentary are priceless! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

THIS PROFESSOR SETS THE BAR. I HAVE TAKEN MANY CLASSES OVER THE YEARS &amp; NEVER ENGAGED LIKE THIS. I TOOK THIS CLASS TO BREAK THE TRADITIONAL U.S. HISTORY BORINGNESS AND I AM SO GLAD I DID. THE BOOK THAT IS NOT A HISTORY BOOK BUT A NOVEL, I FELT I REALLY RETAINED THE INFO JUST MAKE SURE TO READ AND WATCH THE VIDEOS, ALL THE ANSWERS ARE IN THERE.

The class is not difficult at all. There are reading assignment questions for each chapter and a discussion that requires a post and response. Exams are broken up into three separate exams for the whole semester and he gives out a clear cut study guide. He does also require you to look over his slides and videos. Just do the work and you can pass

This is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He not only cares about making a great class experience, he truly cares about his students. There is a lot of work, but it becomes enjoyable with great video lectures and slideshows. I was someone who hated history, but meeting Dave has changed my overall opinion and left me excited to learn more!

Professor Smith is an amazing lecturer, I took this online class because it accommodated my schedule. He is one of those teachers that love what they teach, so you get a lot from the lectures. Do the chapter questions HOW HE INSTRUCTS YOU TOO, do the discussions, he doesn't do quizzes only 3 exams the entire semester BUT YOU MUST STUDY AND PREPARE WELL. I took this online class in the fall. Great lectures however, very long but intresting. If your able to sit through about 2 hours or 1 of a video lecture go for it. Lots of home however, it's spaced out so you don't feel bombarded. Definitly would take again.

Professor Smith is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is super organized, very detailed at giving instructions. He gives really good feedback and encouraging. There's a lot of reading and homework but all of the questions can be found from the reading. He is really funny during lectures, they can be long but entertaining.

You have to commit the time if you expect to get a passing grade. Utilize the study guide and homework for studying and there will be no surprises on the tests. With that said, you have to know the material and know it extremely well. Lot of trick questions that really test your knowledge. You will learn a lot, but there is no easy A or B here.

This class was not easy. There was a lot of homework and the tests were definitely hard, but the material is all stuff in the textbook and his hilarious lectures. Professor Smith is the best! Learned a lot from him. You have to work really hard to get an A. The three exams are each worth up to 300 points so you really have to study and prepare. He is very involved with the class and writes detailed announcements. I think he is hilarious! Contrary to what some have said on here, he does give extra credit.

Professor David is a an awesome professor, hes very accessible and replies quickly. He is very clear in terms of dos and donts. Follow directions and you will do just fine, be prepared to read a lot, often times I found myself going over and reading things twice and three times. I ended up really liking this course, as I got an A!

However, his class material and content is very interesting and he tries to include supporting material that is from outside sources as well and not just the textbook. He knows a lot about history and tries to incorporate other material so it's not just the view of the textbook.

His homework covers all the concepts of the book and at the end of every section, he'll ask a sort of &quot;current events&quot; question that deals with the student relating to what he/she was learned. He's still developing his own online reference material, but as long as you read the book, you should be good. The tests aren't easy, but the homework is. No writing long essays, just answer provided questions with a paragraph. It's a history class, you have to read the book, you ain't gonna logic your way through it.

Solid Choice for History. Only has 3 Tests but a bunch of questions. Is quite funny when you read his responses to the class. Need the Book to Pass 100%. Lots of reading, as he has you do chapter questions. Be prepared to take a few days out of the week to work on his assignments. Worth it though, do the work and you get an easy A or B.

I have dropped out of this class 3 times (after reading the syllabus). Eventually, since this is my last semester I had to take History 011. I am actually very surprised how Professor Smith made this class so interesting. His online lectures are amazing. I got an A and I can tell you that I already miss Professor and his lectures. .

Prof Smith is clear with his expectations and still very cooperative when those expectations don't seem to be met or understood (usually due to a lack of reading on my part). Your grade depends on chapter questions and 3 big exams. His exams require you to study! There is only one final essay on the last exam. Exam grades matter most.

This is the best history class I have taken so far at WLAC. He gives great feedback; attendance is not quite mandatory since its online (you only have to login once a week to do the work); the exams are lengthy but very doable with the time given.(multiple-choice questions). Gives study guide questions for exams. Homework he gives (slides +videos )

Rating Professor Smith I would give him a solid 10/10! He was always reaching out to the class, showing genuine enthusiasm for teaching in an online setting. Just make sure to keep up with the readings and homework, 3 exams in total + a study guide to prepare yourself. Plus, with the extra credit, failing wasn't an option. Great teacher!

YFL Dave is amazing professor and is helpful with giving feedback and answering questions. The tests, 3 of them, are fairly heavy so be prepared by completing the chapter questions & reading. The optional chapter questions are for extra credit. Very important to read through all of the announcements as they have all updated information you need.

Professor Smith is incredible, especially for teaching online. I wouldn't say that about many of my online courses. Preparing for the tests is an important part of this course. If you read and do the material assigned, you should do well. I'm glad I was recommended to him. He's supportive and genuinely wants you to do your best and succeed.

Highly inspirational history professor who has passion for the subject. 3 major exams that are difficult and heavily impact your grade. Chapter assignments of 7-10 question to type answers to. Exams can have trick questions and trick names (Juan instead of John). Using AI will provide you a B on the exams. He looks out for AI in Ch. assignments.
