Brother Stohel wants his students to succeed. He sometimes go through the sections too quickly, and you need to slow him down, but he totally will if you just ask. He's easy to get a hold of and he offers lots of extra credit and help if you put forth effort. He's hilarious, sometimes almost too. I would recommend him.
Brother Stohel is sarcastic sometimes but funny. He also really wants everyone to pass, giving you plenty of opportunities to improve. He teaches off of the learning model, so make sure to at least read the chapter and do the prep quiz before coming to class, it will make participation much easier. If you are willing to work, you will get an easy A
Brother Stohel is great! He is really funny and is always looking to help when he can. There is a bit of work, and the tests are often worded and formatted a little different than the way you learn the material. Still a great class.
I started poorly in this class because it was hybrid and I didn't understand I-learn yet and I'm awful at math. It took me a while to get things straight but once I did I was fine! He is so considerate of each persons situation and is helpful. If you have issues, talk to him! If I can pass anyone can.
He's a good teacher and really funny and takes time to teach certain subjects when its obvious that the class doesn't know anything
He seemed like a push over to me. A lot of students would correct him during class and he seemed embarrassed about that. He can be helpful in getting your homework done, but that was about it for me. To me it seemed like because he was a push over he would be tough on projects because he ultimately determines your grade even if its correct.
Bro. Stohel is a great teacher! He's willing to work w you in any way possible to help you pass. He knows what he's talking about--super smart. He offers extra credit and is willing to reopen assignments if you didn't do well. Tests aren't too bad; if you're prepared, you'll do fine. Not a TON of work, but do all your assignments. Take him!
Bro. Stohel is way funny and really helps when you need it. He wants your success and does everything to help. He also dumbs down the formulas and such to make them easier to understand. DEFINITELY my favorite teacher.
Great teacher, he can go a little fast, but he will always slow down if you ask. He has a good sense of humor and is a genuinely nice guy. Basically the only reason why you would fail his class is if you didn't ask for help.
He was alright I guess
This is the first class I've taken where you do the homework and get graded on it the next class period and take a quiz on it BEFORE the lecture on how to do it! This was supposed to be a foundation math class for those of us who didn't know what we were doing and the format made it MORE confusing! He is a nice guy though - just confusing!
Bro. Stohel is the most amazing teacher I have EVER had!!! He is so funny, kind, and caring! I wish he could be my math teacher every semester! I'm definitely going to miss him when my semester is over! He tells the FUNNIEST stories which makes class so fun!
Brother Stohel is an amazing professor! He is good at explaining the material and always shows you the easiest way to do things! He is funny! Also if you get through the material faster than expected he will make days an optional "review day". He gives bonus points for attending every class each unit! Overall he is fantastic, I recommend him 100%!
I loved having him as a teacher. He's hilarious- I laughed out loud every class. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get 4 points on each test for 100% attendance for the unit. He drops the lowest test, so I didn't have to take the final. Homework isn't due until the end of the semester. Quiz before each class but that's my only complaint
had to drop this class because of how hard is was. was especially hard because it was also hybrid, so i only had a one hour lecture twice a week. Study hard for the tests because it accounts for a huge portion of your final grade. you must get a B or higher to pass. Brother Stohel is hilarious and explains things well, just really hard material..
Brother Stohel is the best. I have never been good at math my entire life. His lectures are very helpful. He has the best interests for his students and wants everyone to succeed. Don't get me wrong I spent a lot of time in the math lab. One awesome thing is if you show up everyday for the unit you get a 4% boost on your test. I recommend to all!!!
Brother Stohel is a great teacher. He gives a ton of chances to make up stuff and he is more than willing to meet with you to go over anything you need. He wants his students to succeed and he will help them pass the class if they really desire to and are willing to put forth the effort and come to class every day. He is an awesome/ fun teacher
Brother Stohel is always willing to work with you if you just ask. Sometimes he cancels class because we got ahead, and going to the cancelled class is optional. There are some perks to going when that happens. Read the book and do the homework before you go to class, and you will be forever grateful.
Bro. Stohel is a SUPER TEACHER! I never liked math, but he made it so much fun for me. After taking this class I understood it SO much better, he is a wonderful teacher he will break it down in to small pieces so you will understand. I encourage you to go to his office hours and seek help if you need it. DO NOT MISS CLASS!!
Brother Stohel is AWESOME!! He is so funny in class, but he totally knows his stuff! He is the type of teacher that performs a lot of examples on the board, and goes over homework questions. That is how I learn things, is by examples, so that really helped me. You also get a note card on the test, and that is really nice! He is a great teacher!!!!!
Brother Stohel is a great teacher. I am not the best at math, but he explains things really well. He also understands the use of a calculator. He would teach you how to use a calculator on anything that you could. Made it much easier and more realistic. I would recommend him for anyone.
Seriously best teacher ever! He loves his student and will do anything to work with you. Math is not my thing and often is hard for me but with him as the teacher i excelled far above the normal and ended with an A. He is a funny guy and keeps the class interesting. If you put in the effort he will magnify it and it well reflect in you grade!
I took the hybrid class with Brother Stohel and he made time for his students! Since I took the hybrid class, we got a 3" by 5" note card on the test which helped a ton! He also gives tons of extra credit opportunities even if you just show up to class. If you do the work, there is no doubt you will pass. Would take again!
He is an amazing math teacher and wants his students to learn. Everything he teaches are on the exams. Attend class because he gave extra credit on the test... trust me it helps! I never had to go to his office, because it was all so easy!!! However, I had many friends that did go and he was helpful!
He gives extra credit, gives note cards for test, has days where he reopens prep quizzes, and curves the test if the average is 80%
He knows what he's talking about and will take time for each student that asks for help. He goes through the homework and projects so that you clearly understand them and offers candy bars for 100% on the exams. He's good at including the gospel in his lectures and has an amazing tie collection! Highly recommend him!
Brother Stohel is a good teacher expect he gets very off track and he moves through his lectures rather quick. He helps you with your homework but makes sure everyone understands it so sometimes you spend your whole class time on one problem. You can have a note card on the tests. Go to the tutoring center to get a better understanding and grade.
He is an awesome teacher and always willing to help you. He will do all in his power to help you understand the material. Honestly if you dont get a good grade in the class then it was not because of him, you are just lazy. Best teacher I have taken a class from.
I was worried at first because I hadn't taken a math class in 6 years. Bro. Stohel knew easier ways and formulas than the book. However he only gave them in class. The only way to pass is by being attentive and writing down his easier formulas. I would highly recommend Bro. Stohel to anyone who is worried about passing any math class.
Took him for my first semester at BYUI and absolutely adored him. I loathe math but he made it super easy and his teaching methods really clicked with me!
He goes off topic a loooooot. I feel like I don't learn anything in his class and I relearn everything on my own. Also, he has no idea how I-Learn 3.0 works, haha
Bro. Stole is a great teacher! Im one to the math and with him as a teacher I have really enjoyed it this se,ester. He makes it fun. He drops your lowest of 4 test scores and the final is optional. I highly recommend taking him!
Bro Stohel is so dedicated/kind to his students. Funny guy. He allows a notecard on exams and helps each student understand. I lucked out, friends with other teachers struggled while I breezed through his class. He goes through questions on HW and spreads out projects so you don't have a final or work at the end of the semester. GREAT TEACHER. SA
Brother Stoehl is a great math professor. He knows how have some fun and lighten up the mood during the class, especially when we aren't learning something very fun/easy. He is very caring and considerate, and even though attendance isn't mandatory, going to class REALLY helps- trust me. I would highly recommend taking your math class from him!
I loved his class! He's a super fun teacher and makes the class entertaining. He gives you two extra credit points on each test just for having 100% attendance. He also drops your lowest test grade. He doesn't assign a ton of homework. He allows you to use a notecard on all your tests. Also if you catch a mistake in class he gives you extra credit.
He is a great teacher. Great Person, and likes to give extra credit for the corrections that student makes on him.
Brother Stohel is really a nice guy, and he's super funny too. However, he is SO scatterbrained! His class is never beneficial to my learning, he never answers questions straight, and he's sometimes sarcastic to a fault. Really, he is a nice man. But as a teacher, I've not at all liked him. It's hard to learn when your prof. is disorganized.
His does two or more chapters on exams. BYU-I Math Center recommends 1 chapter per exam and he doesn't do re-takes. You need to read the chapter before class because he expects for you to know things before class. If you are good at math he won't be to bad but if you don't have good math skill he is the wrong person to learn.
I struggle with math, but he makes the material fun to learn. i have had him for two math classes. When I failed my exam, i met with him to go over the material and he allowed me to retake it. He cares about his students. He ups your exam score 4%if you are there everyday for the exam unit. I love math because of him.
This teacher is not the best teacher, but one thing I can said about him he loves his students, I am not good at math but some how I pass his class. He cares for those that are willing to put the effort to pass his class
Take Brother Stoheld. He is funny so his lectures are not boring. He explains things well and cares about the grades of his students. He hands out extra credit like candy and will extend a due date on just about any assignment (even if he says he won't). If you're not good at math, he will personally see to it that you pass the class.
I love Brother Stohel, he is hilarious and loves his students. I never liked math in high school, but he has been the best math teacher I've had so far. I took algebra 101 and FDMATH 108 with him. He makes you enjoy the classes and lots of extra credit opportunity. Do the test reviews before each test and you would be more than fine.
Brother Stohel is the best teacher I have ever had in my whole educational background. He takes the time to help you if you ask and really cares about us individually. He jokes a lot in the class room which definitely helps me stay involved in the lesson. I would take him again in a heartbeat!!
He is a funny teacher. He enjoys talking to students and laughing. He wants you to succeed. The only work is homework, prep-quizzes, and projects. The text book is only used for the prep-quizzes. Make sure to go to class if you want Extra Credit.
This teacher was willing to take me aside and work with me to build up my grade. I wouldn't have passed this math class if it wasn't for his assistance, and the many hours that he spent insuring that I understood the content.
Brother Stohel is a great teacher he really cares about you and wants to see you succeed. He tries to help you in any way that he can. He does sometimes gets really off topic but is pretty clear with teaching. He doesnt to a lot of examples that match homework but makes sure you know what is on the test. He made this class less burdensome.
THE best math teacher I have ever taken. He made sure that everyone was on the same page. There were no stupid questions. He made math easy to learn. I will actually use the skills that he taught in class throughout my life. I will be taking more courses from him in the future.
He hands out so much extra credit throughout the semester it's easy to bring your grade up, take advantage of this. He cares so much about your grade in class. You can use a notecard on every test. When you have a 100% attendance for the test unit, he raises your test grade between 2-4%. The final is optional at the end of the semester.
He's very sweet, but he's also prone to going off topic A LOT. He'll be teaching something and all of the sudden he'll go off on a tangent about who knows what. Overall, he's a great guy, but he just likes to talk a lot.
I am a Math person so I got an easy A in this class. I didn't love his teaching, it was kind of confusing but I already knew what was going on so I didn't struggle but there were a lot of students struggling. There are like 4 tests and a final but if you do well in the four tests then you don't need to do the final. He is a nice person.
My Major is ELed Mathematics, I normally feel out of place in math classes but not in his, he helped me out of class. Brother Stohel is such an amazing teacher! He may seem hard at first but he really cares about you wanting you to succeed! I have taken him for business calculus and business statics. Both were great! He will help you anyway he can!
Stohel was the best math teacher I've ever had. He works well with his classes and personally, is funny all throughout class, will give extra credit points, and if needed, offers retake tests. He will work you hard but you'll have fun and he gives you exactly what you need to be able to work on the homework, the tests too if you study.
I love Bro Stohel! He was always willing to work with me to improve my grade or do better in class. If you are willing to go to class and learn, he is always willing to help you get a good grade. He was always willing to help me because I was willing to show up for class and prove that I wanted the help.
Brother Stohel is the best! third course I've taken from him! He always let's you bring notes to the testing center and he will let you come in during his lunch if you can't go during office hours. Come prepared to class and you'll be fine. If you get behind meet with his amazing TA's. You shouldn't get behind because each week is similar
I'm not a math person so this class was very hard for me! Brother Stohel was understanding and kind though. I had a lot of health problems and he was willing to work with me to raise my grade. Hard class but I loved him as a professor!!
I've had him for math 101, math 108 and math 221C. He is willing to meet with you outside of class if you need help... He lets you turn in late work and redo assignments if needed, he just really wants his students to learn. Math is just hard. A little patience and hard work will go a long way. :)
My favorite professor Ive ever had at BYUI! He will work hard for you to succeed. Even if you hate math, you will love his class!
Bro Stohel is the best!! He requires a lot of work but is super great at explaining the content and is there for you. He makes math fun and is hilarious.
Brother Stohel is my favorite teacher that I have had at BYU-Idaho. He is really accessible and is willing to answer all of your questions. He makes math fun. This is the first time math has been my favorite class. You are able to use Excel for all tests and assignments, so the class is not very difficult. Seriously, Brother Stohel is the best!
At the beginning of the semester, be sure to have Excel use because you'll need it for the whole semester. If you have a Chromebook, just get rid of it because Google sheets are a nightmare. You'll be put into a group where you can do assignments together and that helps out! He is super lineant and understanding but also hilarious!
Brother Stohel is one of my top professors in the math department. He comes off as stern but he just has expectations that you need to reach in order to pass the class. There's a quiz every morning on the material but he allows you to do it on your own and then work with a partner. Overall Brother Stohel is very caring and can help any student pass
Brother Stohel is amazing, he truly cares for his students and he wants you to succeed. He will help you understand content. If you enjoy and interactive class, Brother Stohel is the man for you. I loved him so much I'm taking his class next semester.
Brother Stohel is an Amazing teacher. Brother Stohel really cares about his students and he is willing to go the second mile to help his students pass. Math has never been my favorite subject, but with Brother Stohel's help I got to see math in a completely different way. I would take from Brother Stohel again in a hear beat.
Amazing guy, you can drop your worst exam and he also makes himself available, He will do everything to help you succeed. He does get distracted on the most random of things... but he's very humorous, not sure if you'll learn too much unless you study it yourself, but if you're looking for an Easy A here is the place to find it :) PS - get a tutor
Brother Stohel is the sweetest man. He is very kind and also hilarious. He will give you extra chances and help if you need it. It really feels like his goal is for you to learn the material well instead of have you pass or fail. If statistics isn't your cup of tea or you're worried about taking a difficult math class, definitely pick him!
There's one (annoying) Application activity per week & class assignments that are opened each day during class & due at the end of that SAME day at 11:59pm. Sometimes what's expected on class assignments isn't clearly explained, but just ask the TAs. He's understanding & compassionate, so if you're struggling, reach out & he WILL help you. So nice!
Brother Stohel is great, he knows stats isn't everyone's favorite so he tries hard to make it fun and easy. You get a note page for exams to use, and you do all of your homework in groups. for a math class, actually doing calculations and such is very small, you do use Excel. You can redo assignments and he is very willing to help you.
Brother Stohel is the best math professor I have ever had. He realizes that stats is difficult for most and does what he can to make class engaging and to help with your grades. Stats is a difficult subject to grasp, but he makes it manageable and is such a caring professor. Take him, you won't regret it!
It is an easy class. I never found the lectures helpful, but he is good at helping all the individual students. Nice guy, good 1 on 1 mentor, but not a great teacher.
He really cares, he is so funny, at first I did not want to take his class but I am so glad I did. He is so funny, prefers funeral over weddings, and will help you if you reach out in a timely manner. For each unit you have 100% attendance, you will receive bonus points. He really tries to help you succeed as long as you're willing to do the work.
Homework is set up up fantastically well in this class. Bro Stohel works to do everything he can for his students. You can go to him anytime for any help and he will gladly work with you. There were sometimes he went too fast, but don't be afraid to speak up!! He. Will. Work. With, You. You have to speak up and step up.
Great prof! Easy class, good lectures, helps you if needed, and just overall caring. Lectures are great because he records them and will help you if you have any questions! Super funny and caring! Cares about all of his students! Take him!!!!! You dont regret it!
Brother Stohel provides a safe environment for learning. If you need help, ask, he'll give you the help you need and more. Has office hours and will give additional instruction. That being said, his lectures are thorough and he loves to have fun. There is homework, but in a precalculus class, why wouldn't there be homework.
Brother Stohel is the best professor I have had at BYU Idaho. This is a very difficult class, but brother Stohel is hilarious, and makes math enjoyable. The Homework system can be annoying, but it teaches you the material, so do the homework and you will succeed. I definitely recommend Saint Stohel.
Brother Stohel is easily the funniest professor Ive ever had. He truly cares about his students success and will work hard and diligently to see them succeed. Hes always in his office at his office hours, and I honestly think I lost 5 lbs just by laughing this semester in his class
Brother Stohel is awesome, he is such a funny lil old man. He is a good teacher, I never got higher than a D in a math class before in my life but his I got a B+!!! His teaching method is easy to understand. There is a lot of work, but its easy if you do the reading. Sometimes he wastes class time talking about the DI and how he shops there.
Show up to class. Pretty much the best advice I can give. If you don't, you won't get a good grade. Doesn't care about excuses. His teaching style is odd. If you don't know what he's talking about, he will skip over important steps and make a lot of mistakes. If you're not following all his calculations while taking notes, you will suffer.
I wish I could have Bro Stohel for every math class that I need to take! He is the type of teacher that is going to help you pass the class. HE DOES NOT WANT YOU TO FAIL! He is so helpful and his class is so enjoyable! Very Fun! Attendance is important but I think this is the class you're not going to want to miss!
Brother Stohel is AMAZING! Be aware tho, he is a tease but you can totally tease him back. He's quick-witted and fun to listen to. How to get an A is simple, attend every class, do homeworld before class, and come prepared with any questions that stumped you and he'll go over it if you ask. If not, he's very reachable after class.
This class was a breeze with Brother Stohel. Every day there is a prep quiz, homework quiz, and an in class assignment. Every Friday, there was an application activity. I never had homework because everything could be done in one class period. There are quite a few exams, but they are exactly like the prep quizzes. Easy A.
This was a pretty straightforward class and Brother Stohel helped to make it fun and interesting. Just do your work and you should be fine. Make sure to work with your group and have everyone participate because it makes the class experience better. Easy class but you definitely learn a lot.
Math108-Sometimes material was taught the day after homework was due, kind of weird, but explains it well eventually. Homework otherwise was easy we had an in class assignment and usually a case study or Mobius. His TA Bailey is the best. He gets off topic. I took an EXCEL class at the same time and it helped me SO MUCH. H is funny and caring.
Brother Stohel was for sure my favorite professor this semester. He makes classes interesting and doesn't just lecture all class hour. One thing I would say is that I didn't particularly like the prep quizzes you had to take before he teaches the lesson. Other than that I loved his class!
Brother Stohel is a great teacher! He finds ways to make statistics fun and interesting. This class does have quite a few assignments, but they really help you learn the concepts. You get out of this class what you put in it, so if you put in the effort, it's an easy A.
I found his class to be so disorganized. He would publish some prep quizzes the night before class and expect them to be done. It's not a hard class to follow. This semester he would just switch things up randomly without sufficient communication. Also, beware he has you do an extra assignment for every lesson compared to the other 221 teachers.
Just an amazing teacher! Is one of the funniest guys ever and makes the class just so enjoyable. Despite many many complications, he was always ready to adapt and help. and on top of just being a great guy, he's also an amazing teacher. I usually strongly dislike math, but this class was easily the highlight of my day each and every day! 10/10
Brother Stohel is super fun. Don't take a class from him if you're not okay with being teased in front of everyone. He goes over and explains anything the class doesn't understand. You can work with other people on almost all of the assignments and quizzes in this class and it is very much encouraged.
If you get offend easily then don't take from him. He is absolutely hilarious and made class a party but liked to joke around. He was super understanding and gave you multiplie chances to get assignments right. It is a super easy class if you keep up with the work.
Brother Stohel is amazing! He loves to get to know you and tease, especially the guys. You really feel like you build a personal connection with him. The course itself is easy, and he makes it even easier. If he doesn't get around to something in class (which happens often) he will push back the assignments instead of leaving you to the reading.
I've really liked Brother Stohel, not the easiest class but Bro Stohel makes it fun. He also drops 1 of the 4 tests which is super nice. He also likes to joke around, so dont take this class if you dont have a good sense of humor!
Gives many times to get grades up. If you love to get made fun of or lots of jokes, choose him. He gets distracted easily, leaving little to no time for teaching. Isn't great at explaining, just does the problems w/out writing out steps to accomplish problems. I had to seek outside help a lot, tutoring and such! Would'nt recommend him.
Loved him so much I am taking his Math 221A course from him. He really goes above and beyond to help all students and he gives extra credit. If you miss assignments, he willing to reopen them for you and hes willing to give back points you missed on a test if you meet with him! Fantastic all the way around!
Super smart and a little sarcastic. I really dislike math generally, but this was a bearable class. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't too difficult either. He has a very merciful late work policy or I would have certainly failed.
Absolutely loved having Bro Stohel! Math gives me a lot of anxiety, but his caring nature, humor, and teaching style really helped me to overcome that, and even to enjoy math a little. I am grateful for his kindness and willingness to work with us in our individual struggles, he really made all the difference, and I looked forward to each class!
He got his PHD in Yappology he is a yapper
I will forever recommend Bro.Stohel for any math class. I'm saying this as a person who has never gotten an A in math. Even when I missed questions on the exam he was willing to work with me to get my grade up. As long as you put in effort and ask for help, this class is very passable.
He's great. If you can take any of your math classes with him, do it. He's funny and he definitely gets off topic easy but sometimes it's a nice break from those classes that drown you in work. He also tries to be understanding of chaotic student life. Not very tech savvy though.
Great guy and willing to help you when you meet with him. Can be a struggle to understand his lectures sometimes because they can seem repetitive, but overall good experience and learned useful information.
Bro Stohel makes this math class bearable with his caring attitude and great sense of humor. While not the easiest, he's willing to work with you and provides helpful resources like Unstuck ai for study prep. Definitely recommend if you don't mind some lighthearted teasing.
He's very understanding of students situations and is very open to helping students that get behind in class. He teaches well and is quite funny, he's like a grandpa.
Brother Stohel is awesome. One of the best people I've ever met and he makes the class make sense. I try to read on my own and I get nothing rom it but as soon as he explains it, it makes sense. I would 100% take his class again.
Brother Stohel is HILARIOUS! He knows his stuff with math and life in general. I learned a lot from him and loved doing math in his class. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities (ie. 100% attendance = significant extra points on final exam grade). He is willing to explain problems over and over until we understand. He truly cares about us
I never wanted to write a review for a professor, but Brother Stohel deserves it. HE IS JUST AMAZING!! I loved him so much. I took 2 Math classes with him. I'm done with my Math classes, otherwise I would choose him again. He cares about students, willing to work with you and help you learn. FR! Take the class with him, you won't regret it (:
Brother Stohel is a good guy, he is willing to work with students in and out of class and hes very kind. The only problem I have with his class is how fast paced it is, he gives about 5 minutes to do a team quiz with about 10-15 questions on it and then he gives a 15 minute lecture followed by a class assignment, its just not enough time.
One of the best professors at BYUI. Early morning precalculus was the trenches. During finals week, Brother Stohel stayed after his office hours and was flexible with his schedule so students could meet with him. I went in to retake a test and took forever. He told me he believes his students are worth it. Genuinely the most caring teacher I know
