Dave is a cool cat!! His class is very interesting, and he always tells interesting stories.

Dr. Tarvin easily became one of my favorite professors. He is young, fresh, educated, and a fantastic lecturer. He was always there when I needed him and he would always provide awesome feedback when I had a question. He legitimately cares about your grade and wants you to succeed. Tarvin is the man.

Great professor, love his sense of humor, fun class. He expects a lot from you in your speeches. If you're looking for an easy A, this class isn't for you. Others have always told me I was a great speaker. I was president of FFA for 2yrs in a row and had given many speeches before, often being complimented on them after. I got a B in his class.

Comprised of 4 speeches. He is a tough grader at first but gets more lenient every speech. You only have to take the final if it helps your grade. It may not look like it but he is very intelligent and knows his stuff, so trying to outsmart him is a no no.

In high school, I won most of my scholarships off of speeches and, as such, expected to earn an easy A in this class. It wasn't. I was borderline BC and only got a B because of the final. However, even though I'm barely a Sophomore, he's my favorite professor by far. Extremely helpful and I'd HIGHLY recommend to all.

Fantastic professor. Very knowledgeable and genuinely wants to help students. Grades pretty hard on speeches but lets you know all of the ways to improve and by the end of the semester, you are doing great on your speeches. Keeps the class interesting and fun. One of the best professors I have taken at A&M.

Tarvin is awesome. He's hilarious, he's informative, he's really there to help his students and is genuinely interested in the stuff he's teaching. This class was super fun to take. His tests are difficult and you'll want to study for them, but the study material is made easily available.

Tarvin is a hilarious and excitable instructor that really makes you want to learn more about the material. He explains material very well and even though I thought I understood everything perfectly, his tests still challenged me and I only made a B in the class. Despite this, he is still my favorite professor I took this semester.

Dr. Tarvin was definitely my favorite professor this semester. Always helps you if you seek help. Attend his office hours for help on your speeches and you should get a high b or low a on your speeches.

Travin makes the material so interesting I loved learning in his class and he knows so much and is really passionate about everything he does. If you pay attention and get involved in class discussions you'll love the class lectures. Theres a group project almost every week but overall the class is really valuable and fun. he's a tough grader

Loved his class. Definitely pay attention to his lectures, he'll throw in little details for the exams such as "what kind of shirt was I wearing and why?" Not an easy A but not difficult to achieve one either.

He is probably the best professor j have had so far. He is very funny, but still gets his lecture points across.

This Prof was awesome! I took his class online. You did have to read the book, and especially watch his lectures. He is a super easy grader. This class was also interesting. I recommend taking him for sure!!

Dr. Tarvin enjoys interacting with you in an older-brother fashion. After taking one of his classes, I consider him a friend. Always willing to provide assistance and counsel. Very down-to-earth, always joking with his students. I specifically took this class as an elective after taking COMM 203 with him; he's that good.

My favorite professor this semester! I took his Intercultural Communication class as an elective course, and I liked it so much I looked forward to it every week. Dr. Tarvin keeps you interested in the topic, is very thorough in his lectures, and if you study and read the textbook you will make a good grade in his class.

Tarvin is awesome! I took his class as an honors course and it was a very rewarding experience! Class entails 3 tests, blogs every week, and one project!

Tarvin is a wonderful person. He's a great, hilarious, engaging teacher, but the best part about him is his level of understanding. I was close to academic probation one semester, and he was super helpful and understanding so I wouldn't fail. We need more professors like him- he's passionate about his subject and only wants to see you succeed.

Awesome professor! Had him in the Fall of 2016. He makes you work for the grade so don't go in expecting a cake walk. Gives great feedback though on all speeches and is very respectful to all of those who respect him. He gives you a good grade on speeches if you go into his office hours and present to him face to face before presenting to the class

I LOVED Prof. Tarvin. He's funny and his lectures are very interesting. He's great about connecting his lessons to real life scenarios, personal anecdotes, or things like movies/TV shows. His exams are not too hard but you definitely need to read or listen in lectures to make connections. It's clear he genuinely cares about his students.

I loved this class! He is a great professor and makes the class worth while. Attendance was not mandatory but the only grades in the class were the exams so getting the notes are essential.

I took this class during summer 1. It was accelerated, and he laid it out perfectly. I was not stressed about this class at all. He really cares about his students. I really hope I have him as an instructor in the future. He made this class so interesting.

Tarvin makes it so easy to do well in this class. Everything on exams is on the Prezi slides he posts on eCampus. You definitely don't have to go to class if you want to pass, but if you want to do great AND laugh a lot, going to class is best. Tarvin keeps things interesting and simple to understand. He is such a great professor and cares so much for his students. He is hilarious and ALWAYS makes class interesting. You have to read the book at the beginning of class and tests are a little difficult but get easier. He has other grades in that class though, so it makes it not hard to pass! I would take him every semester if I could.

Tarvin is hilarious and makes going to lectures fun. Hes also a really good teacher and cares about his students. The first test is the hardest, but they get easier. Theres also an interview assignment and group project that really helps your grade.

He's hilarious and really wants to get to know his students. he has 3 tests, research requirements, and 2 projects which aren't hard. he'll assign critical thinking assignments in class sometimes so if you don't go you might miss him telling you when they're due.

Dr. Tarvin is the best and most entertaining prof that I have had. Definitely go to class because he is hilarious, tests are very specific to lecture material, & a few times he had us check in to receive credit for a "pop quiz" assignment. The required research credits are easy to do, and the few assignments are very eye-opening and fun!

By far, one of the greatest courses Ive taken. Such a GPA booster, HILARIOUS prof and non mandatory attendance makes for a great semester. Didnt have to take this class, but Im SO glad I did!

You need to study everything in order to do well on the exams. The book is very important for Exam1. Every highlighted term on the Prezi matter. There is no study guide for exam 1 but there is for exam 2 & 3. Don't forget to complete the discussions post due every week. He does them in class too so go to class. Lastly, enjoy this beautiful course!

Best professor I have ever had! Tarvin is funny, culturally aware, personal and an all around great guy! His lectures are engaging and interactive! He gets us as students and the culture that we are living in. I wish I took every class he taught. He inspires me to go out and change the world he represents what teacher SHOULD BE!!

I really enjoyed this class this semester. He made public speaking seam easy, and provides great feedback after given speeches. Public speaking does not come easy to me, but I feel that I have learned a lot in this class. Tarvin is hilarious and very understanding.

He is hilarious and makes the subject easy to understand. Very nice and helpful. There is a semester long group project but its not the worst. Reading for the test is really helpful but not super necessary. Does not stress the necessity of a correct textbook so he doesn't care if its the correct edition.

The most amazing guy. If you ever get the opportunity to take a class with Dr. Tarvin, do not pass it up. He is a great professor, super funny, and makes you want to be in class. Its not a blowoff, but as long as you go to class, pay attention, participate, and follow his rubric, you can easily make an A or B.

Tarvin is so underrated, truly the greatest man. His class is not easy though, the tests are rough. But come to class, listen to the lectures and you will be okay. There are CTA assignments so you have to come to class, but extra credit is allowed. Super easy projects. You will not regret taking him, he works with you!!!

He is the best at giving lectures. His class is really entertaining, but his tests tend to through people through a loop because they are very specific (all lecture so don't get the book). My main complaints are: his reviews don't accurately depict his exams and he made the final accumulative without warning (so be prepared for that).

Funny and engaging. Tests come mainly from lectures, but if you need to read more to be prepared for the test, he'll tell you. DO NOT SKIP CLASS; many assignments require attendance for you to receive credit. Day before tests, he'll pull up the exam he wrote for the class and tell you exactly what you need to study. Great prof!

Dr. Tarvin is a phenomenal teacher. He makes public speaking so much better and is always there to help you. Yes, he is quite a tough grader; however, put in the effort and go to his office hours and you will get a good grade.

One of my favorite comm classes and professors I've had at a&m. Tarvin is a super likable guy and his lectures are extremely interesting. The tests were pretty hard and you do have to study but he really cares about his students and is willing to work w you. I would recommend this class to everyone!!

Tarvin is a very approachable and open person. He is non-judgmental and his lectures reflect those values. Very informative material. Some class periods will require you to split into your assigned discussion group, where attendance is taken but you get a heads up of when it'll be. Exams are easy, I've gotten a perfect score on all of them

Davi Tarvin is a great choice for a communication class. His lectures made me look forward to going to class. The textbook was not used but there are some articles he tells you to read. You will do fine if you Go to class, take good notes, and study what he tells you on the review days.

Dr. Tarvin is the best professor I have ever taken. He cares about his students and loves the material he teaches. His lectures are extremely interesting because he makes them fun with all his jokes. Go to class to get the lecture material because this is what all the test are over. His exams are not too difficult, if you study the material.

Dr. Tarvin is a really fun and outgoing professor who makes coming to class enjoyable, but his grading is very tough and sometimes the grading criteria and rubric is unclear. It is very possible to get an A in this class, but you have to follow the exact requirements or else he will deduct a lot of points.

One of the best professors I've had. His lectures are very funny and interesting that it makes you not want to skip class. You have 5 online quizzes, 5 critical thinking assignments, 3 discussion groups, a simple food project, and 3 exams. All very easy if you go to lectures and such an easy A!

He is a tough grader, especially for your first speech, but he gives really good feedback and it's very possible to get an A if you work for it. Go to his office hours!! Dave is one of the best profs's that I've have!! his lectures literally make you want to fo to class. He's supper funny and never fails to entertain the class. you would want to go to class because on the days where their are not a lot of people then he would offer extra credit to exams and in general.

I love Tarvin!!If you happen to miss an assignment deadline by a couple hours or submit the wrong format he still gives full credit as long as you turn it in! He grades homework easy and only has a few quizzes which are straight from the text book. 4 main speeches which count as exams. He truly seems to enjoy teaching and I definitely recommend him

Professor Tarvin is clearly passionate about what he teaches and his lectures are very entertaining. They are very fast and the exams have at least one question about each topic discussed so you need to study really detailed notes. Each category of assignments could drop you a later grade and he sometimes rewords questions so do every assignment.

I have taken 2 separate courses with Tarvin and he is BY FAR my favorite professor at Texas A&M. He really loves to get to know his students so introducing yourself, going to office hours, and just keeping an open line of communication is great. He gives great lectures and examples will be on the exams so go to them. 1000000% take his class!!!

Tarvin is hilarious and makes class entertaining like all the other reviews say. However, his class was the hardest comm class I've ever taken. I didn't miss one class and I take detailed notes, attended every review session that I could, and still managed to fail every test. His tests are worded so specifically that my notes dont help. sad :(

Dr. T is a really awesome professor. It was his first year teaching COMM 101 and everyone could easily see his passion for the major. He is super funny and gets everyone excited to learn. While attendance isn't mandatory most of the test material comes from the lectures, which are pretty funny and interesting.

He's an amazing and personable teacher. He has a personality that shines through his work and even with an online class it felt like I was able to get to know him. He's super flexible with deadlines and understands that you have other classes. With COVID he even canceled a lot of homeworks to make it more manageable for us. Highly recommend.

i am absolutely in love with this man but this class was so hard :( going to lecture was exciting and fun. we always laughed and lectures were so interesting. but even with detailed notes and my full attention every single class, i still barely passed exams. there was some extra credit but not enough. but, regardless, i would still recommend him

I have had Dr. Tarvin for multiple classes now and he is my favorite prof at A&M. Although my grade did not reflect it, I was so invested in this class it was like a movie for me. This class is hard no matter who you have, and is mandatory for COMM majors, so take rhetoric with Dave if you do nothing else with your life :)

The class is very straightforward, the only assignments are weekly discussion posts and then the 4 quizzes and 4 speeches. He is extremely helpful and provides good feedback! As long as you show that you care and put effort into the assignments you will be fine! He is an amazing prof!

Tarvin is great! His class is interesting and he is passionate about what he teaches. He does talk about politics quite a bit in his lectures, so if that bothers you, I would take a different class. But overall he is very funny, authentic, and understanding. He makes information easy to access and study. If you have common sense his tests are easy!

Dr. Tarvin is so amazing; I don't even know where to begin. He is hilarious, and he had the whole class laughing in most of his lectures. Tarvin is SO COOL. Hes funny and chill and wants his students to get the material. He will respect your identity and beliefs and is so sweet. He also is very open to changing assignments if a lot of people are struggling and is really good at answering questions. His TAs weren't the best communicators but he's really accommodating.

I love Dr. Tarvin! He was extremely helpful and assigned a good amount of work as a freshman. His class was engaging and he was always willing to answer questions and give feedback. The tests are not difficult if you know the vocabulary.

Dr. Tarvin is hands down the best professor you can take for COMM 203. He's so cool and funny and makes lecture actually fun because you do improv exercises and learn the fun parts of public speaking. There are A LOT of speeches and he can grade tough but if you put in the work and apply his corrections then you should do well in the class.

Genuinely loved going to this class solely because of Dr. Tarvin. He made learning and doing assignments fun. So funny and easy-going. Assignments consisted of article quizzes, short assignments, and 2 tests. If I could, I would take every class he taught.

Halfway through the semester I figured out I didn't need to be in this class anymore, but I enjoyed it so much that I stayed in it. Tarvin makes lectures so interesting and truly cares about his students, and even spent time learning names. Exams and homework weren't too hard, just study and you'll be good. I wish I could take him again.

Professor Tarvin was great! I accidentally signed up for his mini-mester and was worried, but I ended up loving his class! The course was extremely well organized and easy to navigate. He responds quickly to emails, and gives great feedback on the speeches! You can tell he really cares for his students and wants them to succeed!

This is an easy class to get a B in. During the lectures he highlights on the slides what is going to be on the exam, 2 Exams worth 50% of grade, 2nd one is final, not cumulative. Other assignments are pretty easy to get A's on, 5 article quizzes (25% of grade). If you put in more than minimum effort you should get a A or B.

Definitely take Tarvin! He is so funny and I enjoyed going to his class. Tests are online and proctored.

Professor Tarvin is great and makes lectures super entertaining. He highlights parts of lectures that we will be tested on so it's very clear what will be on exams. Some writing assignments but overall the class was fairly easy and Tarvin made it actually pretty fun. The TAs are also phenomenal and care about their students.

Dr. Tarvin is the funniest and most caring prof I have taken. He laid out his expectations immediately, responds to emails quickly, and stays after class to answer questions. I had a question about a niche field of communications and he connected me to a professor from a different university so I could get the best information. He is great!

If you want your first Comm class to be an amazing introduction to the world of Comm then take Dr. Tarvin. He makes this class easy and funny. 1000% recommended.

Literally the best prof ive ever had. I adore this man and if you are able to take his class please do he seriously is the BEST. Just participate in class and you'll be fine, talk to him in class as well!! He loves hearing funny stories and he'll share his own too. 10/10 recommend him

I've had Tarvin before and I can never say enough about him. His course material is interesting but what he teaches you about life in general is astonishing. So king, funny, clear, and passionate. TAKE HIM.

Dr. Tarvin is one of the best professors I've had throughout my entire experience in college. He's hilarious, engaging, and everyone loves him. His class will challenge you in the best of ways, but getting an A is definitely possible- and very likely if you follow his instructions. I honestly wish I could've taken him for more classes!

Prof Tarvin is a weird guy but an easy professor. Attendance for his lectures aren't manditory. Also, he never grades anything you do. Its all the TA's. But overall the class is easy and Tarvin is entertaining. I would reccomend.

Tarvin's lectures are super engaging and funny. The class is fairly easy if you stay on top of things - exams are manageable with a bit of studying, and Unstuck study proved a helpful study tool along with the free textbook.

Dr. Tarvin is very fun and engaging! I enjoyed his lectures despite it being an 8AM class. The exams were very reasonable, and the final was an optional "tie-breaker" if you're on the cusp of an A. Assignments were easy, and if you participate you'll do well.

LOVE HIM!! such engaging lectures but note that ALL projects are group work (the same group all semester that you select) so if that isnt something that sounds good you probably wont like the class. I got super close with my group and the projects were all creative and fun!

This is for COMM 476!!! Tarvin is a great prof who genuinely cares about his students success! He even gets to know his students personally which also shows how much he cares. He's funny as well and makes sure his students know they can come to him with questions or concerns. Take him!

I love Dr. Tarvin!!! His class was so entertaining that going did not ever feel like a drag. He made lectures fun and enjoyable. There a 2 group assignments but they were so simple and fun to do. His exams do require a lot of studying though. None the less, the assignments were so simple. highly recommend this course with Tarvin!

Dr. Tarvin is THE BEST! I have taken him twice now! So many of my friends have complained that 301 was so difficult with other professors, but Tarvin made it easy and fun. I took it for honors credit and easily got an A by doing assignments and taking feedback. Tarvin cares deeply about his students and will make you laugh all the time!

Dr Tarvin was great! He is super funny and nice and cares about all of his students. The material isn't difficult but the group project takes up the majority of classwork- the rest is really easy. Gonna miss him next year!
