Great teacher!
I loved this guy!
Awesome honors teacher.. very bright, beautiful family too.
He is such a great teacher to take. Attendance is not required. However, he makes the lectures easy to understand and it's actually quite interesting! I've had him for two different classes and if I could I'd take him again!
Side note about the hot comment above. Mr. Tegeder is cute history professor hot. He's not like drop dead grogeous or anything. He knows all of this obscure information about U.S. History. It's really great, his class is really great!
Overall he is a great teacher, very entertaining, however his tests can be difficult.
He is a great teacher. His lectures were funny and interesting. The tests are a bit hard, but he's willing to help and after the first class you'll see you don't mind going to his class at all.
This guy is really great. His lectures are interesting and he is full of cool history facts. Downside is that sometimes he gets wrapped up in discussion and it gets off topic, making tests especially difficult.
hes a really good teacher. he just tends to get bogged down in the details and miss inportant things. he also lets class out too often, meaning we miss more info. overall, though, hes a wonderful and interesting teacher.
He's awesome, he knows tons of cool tid bits of information that make history fun. If you try u can get a good grade in his class. I have no complaints about him. I would take him again.
He is a nice guy, and a good teacher, however, he misses a lot of classes, and we get stuck with subs that are practically worthless. His tests are pretty tough, but if you study, they are liveable. The worst part about his class is the term paper.
To the person who said he misses to much class... he is on a commitee to hire the new Vp for the school... he isn't missing class because he is irresponsible and it won't be that way in future semesters.
I have had Dave for two classes now and he is the best professor I have ever had.

A very funny and brilliant teacher. Made history very interesting. You will be sad to see the class end.
He can get off-topic VERY easily, so if you like structured, organized classes, don't take him. Doesn't write important things on the board so its hard to take notes. Dropped the class after week 2.
this teacher is a cool guy, but he does tend to get off topic a lot. his tests are preaty tuff, and he does get off of topic a lot. but overall great teacher!
Loves his subject, but comes to class late a lot. Methinks he has the need to make an entrance. Also is known to throw hissy fits if he thinks a student has shown him disrespect. Respect is a two-way street,Dave.
cool teacher, funny, good stories. in his lectures, he basically gives you the answers to his tests and essays. would take again.
He's a cool guy. My boyfried took him a while back and recommended him to me. Now, I'm recommending him to you!
i loved him..he was such a great teacher..he kept the class interesting and his lectures were great..he gives you a study guide for the test..so there is no reason not to pass this class with an A or B. i would recommend him to anyone..im taking him again next semester..
Take this class in the summer! I took it in fall and we had 20 multipule choice and then an essay, (he gives you 6 essays, on the test: he gives you 3 of them, and you pick one to write on.) But during the summer you only have essay tests so its SO easy!!
One of the best history teachers i have ever had, he is very easy and makes class fun!
I thought I would HATE this class (history? ick!) but find myself looking forward to every Thursday! He is a great storyteller making the lectures extremely interesting and funny. This teacher really loves his subject. Lots of reading in this class, but stick with it. It's all about the cotton baby!
I really do not know what everyone is talking about. Although he is a very nice guy, I do not think he is a great teacher, his style is so laid back but he has very formal wording on tests and expects a lot on papers. His lectures are all over the place and hard to follow at times. Read the book!
He is a wonderful and extremely funny teacher. He makes history interesting. I thought the class was going to be horrible but it was great!!!
Nice guy. Terrible teacher. "Teaching" I don't even think the word is in his vocabulary. He sits in the front of the class and voices his opinions. "Moreover..." the class goes on and on.. if you're thinking about taking him...DON'T.
He absolutely loves history. He is very enthusiastic when ****ing. I looked forward to going to his class. You must read the book and take notes during class, notes from class will help with essays. It is not hard to make an A or B in this class. I would definitely take him again.
I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT!!! TEGEDER IS THE NICEST TEACHER IN SANTA FE AND AN WONDERFUL TEACHER. I TOOK BOTH AMH 2010 ABD 2020 WITH HIM AND I WISH I COULD TAKE ANOTHER HISTORY..BY FAR THE BEST TEACHER IN SF
Dave Tegeder influenced me to change my major to history. He is a great guy.
He was very helpful and understanding. His class was rarely boring. Most interesting history teacher I've had. I suggest you take his class.
He is a really nice person, but he knows so much about history and I think he forgets that the students dont know the same. He tends to forget what he teaches about. He is very strict when grading the tests and essay, and most of the stuff on the test isnt covered in class thouroghly. He does let you out early alot!
He is an amazing teacher. I learned so much in his class. He loves history, and that makes you wont to sit and actually listen in his lectures. Take his class!!!!!!!!!
Tegeder reminds me of a cross between Michael Moore and Lewis Black. Loves to rant and rave about history, and isn't very formal about his information. Generally, he may write one or two words on the board each class, so most of his information comes from the book or his lecture. Tests are pretty tough, so you have to study a good amount.
tegeder isnt a very good teacher. he knows history well but he doesn'trealy know how to present it. we only have 2 tests and one final-not enough grades to for improvement. in his lectures he talks about random stuff and gets off track easy.
Very clear on what you need to know for the test! tells you all of essay questions ahead of time!
Great teacher!! Makes history intersting, and yes he does go off subject a few times... it's still a great class. Gives study guides with essay questions ahead of time and then marks off several items. Very easy to come and talk to. i would love to share a pint w/ him and just talk about history and politics.... =)
Tegeder is a really cool guy. If you are one of those people who can't stand profs that tell stories you may not want to take him. If you actually read the chapters and do the study guide he gives you can probably get a B or A.
take this class
i had Tegeder for an american history and an african american history. he presents the material in an easy-to-understand way, with little stories that make what could be very boring very interesting. i actually wanted to go to class and listen to what he had to say. history is important, and he rekindled my interest. he's a great teacher!
Awesome guy!! Very cool!!
Tegeder was a great teacher. He lectures every class, but they include a lot of stories and humor that makes the time go by faster. As long as you look at the essay questions you should do fine.
He presents materials in a story like manner. Very good way for someone not interested in class to remember. Not very hard at all. Would take if I had to take other history classes
down to earth...not hard to get B...helps you out
Great teacher, very clear and kept the whole of the class genuinely interested throughout.
he's a really good teacher and he keeps your attention the whole time. very entertaining!
passable with a good grade as long as you can stant the lectures and study for the tests. 7 page paper due at the end based on a book. really great guy.
This is a great professor! I have had him for both History classes 2010/20, and am taking him for African-American next. He lectures everyday but if you just listen it isn't hard to get the information. There are three tests and a 5 page paper on a book. Just stick to the study guides and you'll do great. I am kind of a slacker and I passed.
Fantastic teacher, one of the best I've ever had! Totally recomend to anyone. Just attend class, because the lectures are what will get you thru the class. He is so interesting and fun, filled with random facts and interesting info. very fair too. I can almost guarantee you will love this class- it makes history so much fun?
GREAT Teacher. He actually explains the relevance of one event as it connects to others. Use your study guide for the tests and turn your one paper in on time, you will be fine. He is very fair and willing to work with students.
Very easy class, doesn't take attendance, but you will want to go to class because his lectures are interesting and fun. Funny guy. Make sure to read your textbook...it will help a lot on the tests. highly recommended
AMAZING teacher! Very laid back. Always gives great study guides! Take his class!
This professor is awesome. He has a fantastic sense of humor and he really knows his stuff. (He's also obsessed with railroads.) Everyone should take him at least once; his classes are definitely worth the effort.
I don't understand why this teacher doesn't have a chili pepper yet. Great guy, fun class, extremely fair. easy work and you can miss a lot of classes and still receive a good grade as long as you can understand the topics beforehand.
He is a cool teacher. Very funny and lectures keep you interested. Usually lets you leave early. Tests are a bit hard, just have to study more than usual. Not really good at returning e-mails. You have to read a book and write a paper on it. The book was a litte weird and hard to follow. All in All, I'd take him again.
He lectures a lot, but is really cool and funny. You don't need to come to class all the time, just read the chapters and follow the study guide and you'll pass the tests. Good class, good teacher :)
Attendance isn't MANDATORY, but if you want the necessary notes, you must attend. He is hilarious, lets you out early all the time, and has a great personality. The tests are decent, you just have to study! He is real, down- to-earth, and makes history fun.
Great teacher very interesting to listen to. Class has no work besides a report and 3 tests.. u need to go to lectures and read the readings besides that its an easy class and can be fun to listen to him
I thought it was kind of difficult. There's no homework but he gives a study guide.
He is a great teacher and is full of info. His tests are 25multiple choice, and an essay. However, he gives you a study guide *including essay questions* ahead of time. He listens and helps you out when you need it.I am taking him for AMH2020 as well and I wouldnt have it ANY other way. He is GREAT and you will not regret it if you take him!! #1!!
He is funny, laid-back, and understanding. Like ALL history teachers he gets a little off-topic at times but class is always interesting and you learn a lot. Only four grades the entire semester (3 tests and a paper) so make sure you study.
He is funny, laid-back, and understanding. Like ALL history teachers he gets a little off-topic at times but class is always interesting and you learn a lot. Only four grades the entire semester (3 tests and a paper) so make sure you study.
Always keeps you entertained. If you want to do well it is advised to show up to class and take some notes. 3 tests and 1 paper-not a hard grader at all. Definitely think he is one of the better teachers to take. he is also dedicated to his students and will help you with anything!
Great History teacher, Makes class fun and exciting.Im a history major and he has been my favorite history teacher so far.
Super cool guy! I loved going to class even though it wasn't mandatory. He cracks me up and hes always slapping his desk. He looks like the curly haired guy from Knocked up and sounds like him too. His stories are fun, he's one of my favorite teachers and I'd take him a milion times more!
Greetings! How yall doing? This guy is so awesome! He always slaps the desk LOL! Looks and sounds like John Goodman, hilarious! I never bought the book, never studied but went to class everyday and got a B+. If you want a class that is really laid back, fun, plus you learn a lot about history not just dates and garbage like that, THIS is the class!
Awesome awesome awesome. This teacher was great. He is absolutely hilarious and I would recommend him to anyone. He teaches in a way that makes you really interested in history. If you take a lot of notes and read the ch. when you're supposed to, you will do great in his class.
Pretty funny guy.
"Greetings" lol he says it every time he walks in the classroom. He is very funny and makes learning history fun. I strongly urge you to take this course! "Let's get out of here"
Best teacher ever.
he is funny and entertaining..i honestly just think it was too early in the morn for me!
Mr. Tegeder is a great teacher and he is very funny and entertaining. He like to talk about current times and what's going on locally. The only problem I had was he only has 3 tests and a essay for your grade total. But he teaches so good that you do good anyhow, plus if it's a nice day out he won't keep you in class long.
This guy is the best.I did not like history before this class. He's hilarious. the only thing i can think you will have a issue with is that there is just 3 exams and one paper(that you have to do to meet requirments), but the exams are fairly easy... dont have to go to class but i suggest it. it will help u grasp what is in the book.
He is a very good teacher! I'm not a big History fan, but I learned a lot from him and didn't mind it. There are 3 test and 1 essay for your total grade. He tells you everything about what you're learning and tells you stories at the same time. He is a very nice guy and wants you to well! If you need a history class I recommend him!!
At the university of florida
Best Teacher to take for history. He tells stories on the side but they tie into his lectures. Only 2 tests, a paper, and a final. You have to be extremely stupid to fail his class. His test questions arent that hard, really basic and easy.
LOVE HIM ! he is a great teacher. very laid back. you do have to read the book. but his lectures are funny. gives study guides. he is really into history and loves talking about it . great class.
He is an amazing teacher really loves history and makes it interesting. Gives out study guides which are EXTREMELY HELPFUL for the tests. Overall best history teacher ive ever had must take his class. Its really impossible to fail his class.
He is very interesting. He also think writing a lot is good. Test are multiple choice with one essay question, and he gives the questions before hand and you get to choose one. Some people rarely came to his class. Very nice person.
this dudes hilarious! he tells awesome storys about history. he somehow ties beer and alcohol into every lecture. tests are kind of hard his tests are out of the book as well as his lectures. the essays on tests are from the lectures. also theres another book you have to read and write an essay on it. hes awesome, take his class!
Great guy! He tells great stories! I didn't really read the book and I still got high B's on the exams. The exams are 25 mulitple choice and 1 essay question divded equally. HATES texting and anwering phones in class!!!! Get on his good side and he's super nice, answers questions, etc.
Excellent professor, top three of my college career. Very humorous and knows his material inside/outside/front/and back, so he knows exactly what you need to know and explains it so there's no way for you to not know the material. Very good at keeping the class active and alive with class discussions and makes them the topic for the day sometimes
This is my second semester taking Dave's class. I had him for AMH 2020 and took AMH 2010 this semester and he is a cool guy. Class is easy doesn't ask much from you except don't text in class. Hates it. Attendance not mandatory and gives study guides to help you. Read the book for the study guide. One paper 4 to 5 pages. Easy A.
Mr. Tegeder is a fantastic professor. Very funny, very well informed on his material. He makes the class easy to understand. There is outside reading and do the study guides for the tests. Very willing to help outside of the classroom. I wish I could take him for more classes!
I hate history, but he made it less terrible. I got an A in the end. If u study the study guide he gives u and come to class most of the time, u will do fine. There is only one 4 page paper at the end which is easy to write in response to a short book. He's very funny and knows a lot about history. Definitely the best choice for AMH2010 and AMH2020
Good teacher he loves history and knows alot. he is very helpful and fair. his tests are very fair. the quizzes are hard enless you keep up with the reading in the textbook. there is 4 tests and one 4-5 page essay at the end that is easy. He is crazy but fun to listen to and grades very fair. I would recommend him
Best history teacher I've ever had. I love history and plan to major in it. I had fun while learning tons of info.
This guy is awesome. He is a History Phenom. He was the most relaxed class of my day and i enjoyed his banter. He bangs on his desk, hoots and hollers, and has a great time teaching what he loves. DO NOT TEXT IN THIS DUDES CLASS. He will bust you out in a minute like you were his stepchild.
Good teacher, 1 7 page essay on a boring book but it wasn't really hard. also 3 tests half questions half essay
I took his American History Honors class this semester. While the textbook was good, he was always 10-almost 15 min late, his lectures were never on topic and he didn't teach the material. He was also NO help on the term paper which was worth 40% of the grade. I got a A on the paper B+ overall but if you want to learn anything do NOT take his class
A great teacher, despite his obsession with badgers! He imagines they live in his desk and they steal his pencils at night. Other than that, a very good class.
He is an awesome teacher. He lectures everyday. the tests are kind of difficult, but if you read the book, and attended the lectures you will do fine. I would recommend him!!
He is a great teacher! He is very passionate about his job, and loves what he does. Make sure you read the book outside of class, and attend lectures, but he is really funny, and he makes history fun!
One of the best teachers I've had in SF. He's awesome; I don't like history at all and he made it seem so interesting and I learned a lot in his class. Make sure you read the book outside of class and attend his lectures (he lectures a lot). Three tests and two essays. Class was easy. Ohh and he bangs on his desk all the time lol...really fun guy!
I was fascinated by his lectures and learned to appreciate history. Probably the most consistently interesting class I've ever taken. I was disappointed each time class was over. I'd like to go back and sit in to ANY of his classes... just to listen to his entertainingly factual presentation.
David is an awesome professor. He is very passionate about history and can recall tons of stuff from it. Very personable teacher. Writing assignment for this class is a little bit of a pain but definately bearable. Highly recommend David for any class you have to take with him. We dont really ever have a dull moment in the class.
Not recommended if you actually want to learn something. I attended class about 4 times during the entire semester, and still pulled an A. Almost too incredibly easy, you're graded on 2 exams (which are easy if you read the book), and a final paper. TERRIBLE lecturer, you're better off just reading the book. But easy class!
David Tegeder is a really nice teacher. His lectures are pretty interesting, but you have to read the book outside of class if you want good grades on his tests. He is a super easy grader for the few essay's he assigns!
Mr. Tegeder is extremely passionate and commands your attention (in a good way). I always wanted to attend his class, and was disappointed with having missed the few that I did. His enthusiasm is contagious (seriously) and he is absolutely hilarious! His lectures make you want to learn more. Take his class! You won't be sorry!
Great Teacher, his test were really easy, only 20 questions and one essay and he gives you the essay topics before the test! Atendance doesn't count, and he is extremly funny(He slams his hands on his desk a lot) and he tells you a lot of interesting stories! easy A
One of the best professors at SFC. Very funny and interesting and can tell a great story. He has made me enjoy history and politics awhile learning the truth of our past. Excellent guy and teacher, what you put in is what you get out, overall a must take at SFC atleast once.
Great guy and fun teacher. Extremely passionate and knowledgable about history. Overall pretty easy class with minimal assignments. Will edit your paper as often as you'd like before due date.
Very good Professor, I actually enjoyed going to his class. Funny with stories for day. I actually learned a good amount of American history in his class.
Great class, great prof. I really enjoyed his lectures and he was very understanding and helpful. He grades hard, but if you have a good understanding of the material you should do ok. That said he makes you work hard for an A (I got a lot of 89s and I love history). Overall, I would definitely recommend this class.
I took his class at UF and love him. He is really funny and keeps a topic, I usually find very boring, interesting and easy to pay attention to. Readings are a must for quizzes as there aren't many grades at all. He tends to be a few minutes late and isn't the best at remembering to send out information earlier. Overall good experience in his class
Mr. Tegeder is a great professor and cares about his students, but his quizzes are no joke. They are very difficult even if you do read all the material. However, I still pulled off a B even though I bombed most of the quizzes, but if you're like me, a B is a sign of defeat for you.
Professor Tegeder is my favorite online teacher thus far. He cares about each of his students, he gives great feedback, and he responds to messages in a timely matter. His quizzes are a little challenging, but the discussions and the 4 writing assignments are fairly easy. If you take him, you WILL NOT be disappointed. *Make sure you read the book!
He is an amazing teacher. He is understanding and wants to help you to succeed in any way possible. I don't like history at all and the way his class was set up made it super easy and somewhat enjoyable to learn. I took his class online (it was his first online class) and it was great. One of the best professors I've ever had!
Mr. Tegeder is very easy going and is fair. If you do all of your work assignments you will pass. He's also very understanding. I took his American History class online and there was a decent amount of homework assignments but nothing too major.
I took this class as a mini-mester online over the summer, it was 7 weeks long and LOTS of reading and writing, but it's not hard. It is very fast paced. Class participation is a must! I would deff recommend him and take him again, one of the best teachers i had via-online!
Online class not much interaction with professor. Lots of reading and writing. Two different books to read. One for class and second book for midterm writing assignment. Discussion post weekly with replies and Quizzes, three writing assignment plus midterm writing assignment. Not too over bearing but make sure you watch dates for discussion post.
Although Professor Tegeder did a very good job explaining the textbook in his videos, he made contacting him very difficult. Whether he was just very busy or some other reason I rarely received a response to any of my emails. If I had a question that needed to be answered to finish an assignment, I had to ask a peer who had taken him in the past.
He is a very great teacher. The class is not too hard, but you do have to read one chapter a week. There is a discussion every week but it is very easy to answer because everything comes out of the book. There is also a quiz every week that can be difficult at times but it is still easy to pass the class as long as you follow directions.
I took African American History with Dr. Tegeder. He was an amazing person and was always ready to share knowledge and listen to you. I highly recommend him! Eugene Orr
The professor was fantastic - always eager to share knowledge and listen. Using unstuckstudy alongside the textbook helped me ace this course. Highly recommend!
He was talkative, rude, and I guess that came with the class
