You'll find more about him if you look up David Thomas from George Mason, he moved to BSU this year. Awesome guy, knows a lot about econ and good at teaching it. Really nice and helpful, wants everyone to pass. Show up for lectures, take iClicker quizzes, and do the (completion grade) homework and you'll pass . I wish I could have him again.
Great Professor Great Class. Would take this class again in a heartbeat.
he was great
Dr. Thomas does a great job at explaining information.
Dr. Thomas gives easy homework assignments that are due right before an even easier quiz. If you go to class you will learn all of the material because he is a good lecturer.
Do study guides then you will pass quizzes and tests and will receive easy A
Dr. Thomas is a really helpful and friendly professor compared to most other economics profs I've had. He gives out study guides for every chapter which aren't that hard, and all the questions on the tests (2) come from these. Just go to most of the classes, and do the study guides intentionally, and you'll be good.
His class is easy if you read the book and do the study guides. His tests comes directly from the study guides. If there is something you don't understand, he'll try to clarify it for you.
He gives quizzes and tests that come directly from the study guides. Go to class, do the study guides, and you will get a good grade in the class.
Very good teacher. Go to his lectures because they are well worth it. He is a very fair grader. Everyone should do well in his class.
Really enjoyed Dr. Thomas's class this semester. Definitely felt like I learned a lot about Macroeconomics and our economy in general. He's really good at drawing conclusions with lectures and is pretty entertaining. Two point study guides that are credit if you finished them and low point tests make this class an easy GPA booster.
Class is great. Feels like more like a human behavior course than an economics course at times but always brings it back. Really feel like it helps to broaden your strategic view.
Dr. Thomas is the man. He deserves more credit than anyone gives him especially from his students. He is one of the best professors and I definitely want to take more classes from him. However I do wish that his classes were more difficult and intensive.
He's a great professor, with a lot of experience in the real world. A bunch of small quizzes, midterm, and final. Easy prof, but final is worth 40 percent of your grade.
he is a good teacher. come to class and do the study guides and you will do fine.
enjoy lectures. Make sure you are in class and take extra time, tests and quizzes can be misleading
Pretty laid back class, however there is a lot to be learned. Great class and I would take another class of his again.
Great teacher and gives great lessons with real life experiences to back up his knowledge. Would definitely attend class to keep up with the information, which is easy because the classes are very enjoyable and laid back.
Dr. Thomas is a great teacher. He is well respected and his lectures are very interesting. He makes Economics fun and not so boring. Dr. Thomas has many personal life stories about Economics and his prior life to teaching which many find fascinating. He does not assign much homework and there are only two tests. Overall, great teacher!
Dr Thomas is probably the smartest professor I know. Economics is a confusing subject as is, but he makes it simpler with his lectures and really dumbs it down for us making the whole week discussion of the same material in different ways to make sure we have it in our heads. There aren't much points offered with 4 point quizzes over the chapters.
Great teacher, a lot of what he teaches in class ends up being on the exams. Exams mean a lot in here. for the most part only grades in the class are quizzes, the mid term, and the final.
The lectures were very helpful to connect the material in the book and supplemental material to the class work. The content was a bit more flexible. There was always something more to learn from it, partly because it's game theory and it's so broad.
Dr. Thomas has interesting lectures that used real world examples to further explain the concept. If you attend class and complete and turn in all the study guides, this course should be an easy A/A-.
It was honestly one of my favorite classes. I came into the class pretty unsure how it would turn out, but came out with a lot. He teaches the subject well and also gives real world examples of the material in action. His antidotes are also extremely interesting and relevant. I would take any of his future classes again.
Dr. Thomas' class is an easy A if you do all the study guides and show up to class for the quizzes. If you miss a quiz, there are no remakes, but he does drop your lowest quizzes. Midterms and the final have questions taken right off the study guides.
Dr. Thomas has probably been my favorite professor while attending Ball State. Not only is his class material great, he has years of real business experience that he is happy to share with students. Giving him tenure would be in the best interest of the university.
Dr. Thomas is a great professor and is really knowledgeable in his field. His lectures are well put together and do not bore students to death. I learned a lot in his class and would definitely take him again.
He was a good teacher. I made the mistake of not going as much as I should have but have improved slightly because it will hurt you. Homework is easy amd graded on completion. Quizes are 4 questions and straight from the hw or the chapter. Midterm and final are straight from hw, lessons and chapters.
Best professor I've ever had. Makes you view the world in a different and more educated manner
I look forward to going to class because I know the lecture is going to include some crazy story about the world that I can't even believe but feel smarter for knowing
David Thomas is a great economist that really knows what he is talking about. Simply by listening to his lecture you are likely to pick up on key concepts. However, if I did have one complain about his class it would be that he lacks a dynamic teaching style. He keeps it simple and if that is your preference then this is the class for you
Very good professor. Explains the material very well and answers questions accordingly. He might have been the best professor i've had at Ball State.
Pretty cool guy with a lot of good information to give you. His simple examples will make understanding macroeconomics a breeze. He gives iclicker quizzes almost every week, but if you read you'll ace them all. Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about him was that occasionally he would ramble about how he was the cats pajamas back in the day.
This Guy does more homework for personal work then he assigns to the class.
Really knows what he's talking about.
Great guy and will take time to help with all your work.
Great professor and prepares you for you future jobs and how you think about everything.
Hes a really interesting Professor and gives good lectures!
show up and participate in class discussion and you'll pass
Class was interesting, and on point. Quiz every week. If you don't read, you will not pass quizzes or test.
Dr. Thomas is a very intelligent and fascinating professor to learn from. He brings real world knowledge to the classroom that nobody can argue with. Dr. Thomas is also a huge fan of himself, and his stories often deal less with our class topic and more so about something cool he did, owns, or plans to do. Enjoyable to here about nonetheless.
Quiz questions are straight from the study guides, so you have to read to do them, but they're easy points.
Out of all the Econ professors at Ball State, he is likely your best option. Explains the content exceptionally well. You must buy the study guide and do the homework. Then, study for the quizzes and tests from the study guides.
Good professor, easy homework, don't need the book to pass, can skip class as long as you know when the iclicker quizzes are. tests questions taken right off the homework.
Very qualified teacher who I really enjoyed listening to lecture!
Look here. Make it to class on time because he starts every quiz the very second class starts. AT LEAST skim the chapter and turn in every study guide. Review for the Midterm and Final. There you go you passed the class and actually learned econ. Congrats.
He is very awesome. I had a horrid grade at midterm and he reassured me that I could pass and I am currently passing and about to pass the final.
good class
It's a good idea to do the reading and the study guides because it helps with the quizzes that he gives out every week. By doing that, you'll be prepared for the tests.
really nice guy. hes super helpful. very clear cut
a nice man
Very Passionate
his lectures weren't terrible.
Dr. Thomas is a very intelligent professor and ties his lectures with current events extremely well. Dr. Thomas has a lot of experience in the business world, and it shows in his lectures.
Good professor!
The study guides help a lot with the midterm & final, so do them!!!
Awesome guy, but he lacks the creativity to get people to learn the material as well as he would like. Easy class and some great stories from Dr. Thomas
GO TO CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS
I had, Dr. Thomas for Econ 202 and he is an all around great guy and professor. He has experience as a CEO and really knows Economics like the back of his hand, I'd gladly take another one of his classes!
Dr. Thomas is a very intelligent man with an ample amount of real world knowledge which provides a great foundation for a professor you would want to have. He may get a little full of himself sometimes, but its all worth listening to.
I'm glad I chose Dr. Thomas as my professor. Most of the quizzes he gave in class were simple if you did the study guides. His tests were also a lot like the study guides so if you did the homework you would most likely get an A on the tests.
Dr. Thomas has a lot of knowledge in the real world and has had a lot of success from his business career. His class is based off of the study guide where you will have 23 quiz's throughout the semester. All of the questions come from the study guide and there are 2 tests. Final exam is 40% of your grade based on 400 M/C, T/F and vocab questions.
Dr. Thomas is an awesome professor who is really good at providing examples from his own life experiences when talking about the different topics talked about throughout the class. You have 23 quizzes throughout the semester but they are all taken from the study guide from the text book. All the the test questions come from the study guide also.
Only 2 test. 23 quizzes all quiz questions come from the study guide. No homework outside of doing the study guide questions to prepare for quizzes
Great professor who is over qualified for his job. Why is he at Ball State? Good question, however take advantage of this great resource! Lot's of quiz's in the class that if you study for them you will do well in his class. If you fail to do that, do not expect a good grade. He is a great teacher who has so much knowledge! So don't miss class!
Dr. Thomas is one of my favorite professors. He has tons of real world experience & uses stories from his life to further explain topics. Quizzes once or twice a week, a midterm, and a final. The quizzes and midterm are straight from the study guide. Some questions on the final are from the study guide while others are from class. Highly recommend!
He gives weekly quizzes, but as long as you buy the study guide and review the questions, you will get a good grade. If you don't look over the study guide prior to class, the quizzes are tough. But that is where all the answers come from for quizzes and tests. So be ready to study pretty regularly.
All the quiz and test questions come from the textbook study guide. So do not buy the text book, just buy the study guide and study that. Gives weekly quizzes so as long as you study the study guide for that chapter, you'll pass. If you dont study, youre screwed. If you skip class a lot, do not take this class because you have to go to take quizzes
Very successful man! Shocked, but glad that he stays at BSU. He makes funny jokes. Doesn't require attendance but you should at least come to take the quizzes. He doesn't care if you have to leave right after the quiz though. So laid back and friendly and again, VERY successful!! Buy the study guide its all the questions that will be on test!
David Thomas is a great professor. I highly recommend him.
Dr Thomas is not the prof BSU students deserve, but he is the one we need. One could call him the Ronald Reagan of economics, and one would be right. His tests are easy bc he teaches like a modern day Plato. Film fans may recognize him as Sean Connery's body double in Goldfinger. With luck, he will make BSU the economics powerhouse of the Midwest
Dr. Thomas was a great professor that all of a sudden makes me want to begin a career in economics. He is a great professor and a very likeable person.
He picks all his questions for quizzes and tests word for word out of the workbook that goes with the text book. As long as you come to class for the little quizzes and look over the workbook, its easy. (202-8)
Professor Thomas is one of my favorite professors at Ball State so far. He has a lot of real world experience that makes his lectures very interesting to listen to. Make sure to come to class because there are iClicker quizzes every week that are a good portion of your grade. Your grade is made up of those quizzes, the midterm, and the final.
iClicker quizes at the beginning of most classes but answers are all in the study guides. Lectures every class but relates everything back to real-world situations so it makes it more understandable. Great professor.
Just go to class on time for quizzes. DO THE STUDY GUIDE. Therefore, you'll do fine on the quiz. When it comes to the midterm and exam, be there for that week of class and you'll get all the notes and information you need.
Dr. Thomas for president!!! The man is a genius. Use your study guide. Show up and take your quizzes in class. Get to know him, you wont regret it!
He's a really smart guy and a great professor. I'm not sure why he's teaching in Muncie but hats off to him.
Great teacher! One of my favorite teachers at ball state so far! Take this class!
Dr. Thomas is very successful man. He is by far the best econ professor I've had so far at Ball State. Show up for class and look over the study guide and you'll do well.
he has some good stores and the study guide is mandatory
One of the best classes I have ever taken at Ball State. Has great lectures.
Dr. Thomas is good professor. Has great stories and examples to explain the content he's covering more clearly. As long as you read some and do the study guide you should be able to get an good grade.
Dr. Thomas is a great professor who brings the professional style of teaching to the classroom. He knows what he is talking about from previous business experience. If you are able to get Dr. Thomas, definitely take the opportunity to learn from him.
A great professor with an abundance of knowledge in Economics and Business. He is defiantly over qualified for his job. Great all around teacher and I would take his class again and recommend him to a friend. If you put in the work to get an A you will get an A. If not, you will not do as well as you will like.
Great guy and an even better professor. Easy tests and quizzes with questions and answers given to you. Just need to memorize those questions and answers. Very useful lectures to apply later in life. ECON202-2
Great guy. A mildly easy class although make sure you get as many points on the small quiz questions since they will be making up a majority of your grade next to only two test in the class.
Great professor. Easy tests and quizzes with questions and answers given to you beforehand. Lectures very useful with previous business experiences used to reference to.
A fantastic professor. Really knows his stuff and has worked in some of the most competitive industries. Reinforces his lectures with stories that are both interesting and educating. 202-2
Really good professor and very smart
Very smart and has a lot of life experiences to share
Solid lectures, tests are tough for non-Econ majors. Very insightful.
Dr. Thomas keeps a conversational tone in class which is incredibly helpful to me. He has a lot of experience in the field so class is a lot of fun. I strongly recommend this teacher for environmental economics or any of his other classes.
Must Have Professor at Ball State
Dr. Thomas demands a lot from his students. That being said, if you go to his office, he will do everything in his power to help you be successful.
Super psyched at the beginning, turned out to be more boring cuz it seemed like we did the same things over and over again. Learned how to think through problems and come up with creative solutions.
Great professor that actually knows what he is talking about. You truly learn a lot every single lecture. Would take every Econ class with him when if I could
One of my more challenging classes but finishing every paper feels like an actual achievement.
You write 6 case studies throughout the class, they are 4 pages each. Lectures are good every class. Only two tests. Attendance isn't mandatory but helps for the papers. Offers extra credit. Hes done a lot with his life and is very interesting to talk to.
Dr. Thomas is the best professor I have had at Ball State. He is extremely intelligent and has lots of real world experience. He makes boring material interesting with his many stories. Quiz and test answers are given ahead of time in a study guide. If you show up to class every day and do the study guide before hand, you will get an A!
Easy class. All of the answers to the tests and quizzes are given to you. Lectures did get a little boring but Dr. Thomas knows what he is talking about and is a great professor. Very accomplished man.
There are case studies due every week for the second half of the semester. Dr. Thomas's lectures are interesting and he has a lot of real life experience that he shares to make the class more relatable.
Dr. Thomas is an awesome guy who has a passion for teaching. He has really great stories to tell that go along with lecture topics which makes class a lot more fun. I would highly recommend taking any class with him.
Study guide is a must don't buy the actual book
Difficult material but he does a great job of explaining it. Dr. Thomas has lots of real world experience and stories to help you understand the material. I don't care for econ but he is able to keep me interested for the entire class.
If you have the proper course materials, then everything is laid out for you to have an exceptional grade.
Econ 202-2 Pretty easy class, as long as you do the study guides you wont have any problem.
Econ 202-2. Great professor. Do the study guides and the weekly quizzes and tests will be easy. He shares awesome stories that go with the material being learned. He just wants you to pass the class.
ECON202-2 Great professor with a lot of real world experience to bring to the classroom. He is very smart and knows what he is teaching. If you have the opportunity to have him ass your professor, make sure that happens. You will learn alot.
Dr. Thomas is the man. He is brilliant and has the special ability to see the world and create solutions for things. He is a untapped resource that students to not utilize. students say that his lectures are all the same and they don't learn enough. His lectures are not designed for you to learn lots of mathematics , but are for cultivating ideas
He is a good teacher. He makes new concepts easy to understand
Econ 202-1. Love Dr. Thomas' class. Makes the material interesting and easy to understand. Would recommend him to everyone.
I took Econ 201 with Boris and didn't learn one thing so I was nervous about taking 202. Thankfully I was assigned Prof Thomas and he's been great. This class is a cake walk until midterm and final time. You just show up to class, take quizzes and read your 15-20 page text book. I couldn't have asked for a better Econ professor.
Just come to class, read the book and the study guide and you'll pass.
Dr. Thomas is a very respectable professor. He gives great lectures filled with stories and examples to help explain. His homework assignments are regular and repeating so you know exactly what to expect, and his tests are short, fair, and easy if you go to class. He's always available in his office, and eager to talk Economics with you. Great guy!
Very good professor who will teach you a lot. Show up participate and you will do fine.
If you look over the study guides then you can pass the in class quizzes. Great professor, who can explain the material very well and relates it to real life. If I had the opportunity, I would definitely take another course with him.
We get extra credit rating him
Dr. Thomas is full of interesting stories. He has real-life knowledge that is very useful to students in the future. The only drawbacks of his class are that he isn't specific about instructions for projects and he does NOT grade any work you turn in until months later, which is pretty annoying.
All the questions come right from his study guide so if you get that, you will be set. Lectures are not terrible and he tries to keep them interesting for you. Overall, this is a great class with a great professor.
Great Professor. Great lectures.
Good and clear but the final is 40% of your grade so be ready to study.
Dr. Thomas is a very smart guy who is passionate and has real world experience. In ECON 311, you do not learn a large amount of information, but you learn how to evaluate environmental problems from an economics perspective, which is very useful. It is definitely a different sort of class, but I would recommend it.
Fantastic Class
Great professor, really goes out of his way to teach you applicable skills. If you do not go to class you will find this course challenging. However, if you do go to class you will learn more than what you do in two classes. All in all a great class and teacher.
He knows what hes talking about. Likes to have fun with his classes. Stay focused or you will get behind. He moves a little fast but that could just be me. Have a good foundation in micro economics before hand.
A lot of in class discussions, multiple choice midterm and final, extra credit opportunities. Grade is made up of a small amount of points. Overall a decent class.
Doctor Thomas is an interesting person with a variety of business success and experience. He uses his experience to make class interesting and uses his advanced Economics education to explain principles thoroughly. Good guy.
Section:1 Dr Thomas used the quiz's straight from the study guide. No extra credit. Drops the 4 lowest quiz scores out of 23 quiz's. The final is 40% of ur final grade and is based off of 400 questions from the study guide. Must work hard to earn a good grade.
As long as you do the study guides and take the quizzes you will be fine. He is a good teacher who teaches you concepts very well .
Professor Thomas is a great professor and makes sure he does everything he can to help his students pass. The class has some difficult concepts, but he explains them well. I would definitely recommend him for this course.
Great professor. There are a lot of quizzes so be sure to show up to class. Buy the Gregory Mankiw study guide, and study it, and you will most likely get an A.
Quizzes in class that makes you come to class. Super smart teacher with a lot of life lessons
Not a hard class if you actually attend class. He's a really great guy and I wish I had him for more classes throughout my college career
Solid professor, easy class. Lectures are interesting, quizzes are annoying. Major keys: buy the study guide, memorize the answers, and show up when he says there will be a quiz.
Very fair with quizzes, he drops the lowest four.
Had for 311 spring 2016, pretty interesting course, but more interesting Professor. I've told more stories to my parents about this guy's accomplishments than anyone else Ive had at BSU! Little snooty, but an intriguing individual and I would definitely recommend to others.
Econ 202sec08 He is by far my favorite professor and uses his experience to deliver relevant and interesting lectures every week. Definitely recommended
Professor Thomas explains the material in a way that is easy for students to understand. If you don't understand something he will happily explain it again. He gives iClicker quizzes over every chapter and then there is only a midterm and a final. Class is optional, however he doesn't post notes online so I recommend going.
Overall great class. Dr Thomas gives great lectures with insight as to how it applies to the real world while also teaching you to think for yourself. His love for the subject shows.
Great teacher. He gives quizzes weekly(lets you know the days in advance) but the answers come straight from your study guide, as do the exams. He has no attendance policy, and he doesn't care if you leave his class after taking the quiz.
Professor Thomas is a fairy easy professor who explains the material in ways that helps his students succeed. He provides examples, and the lectures are interesting. Every chapter has a short I-clicker quiz, but if you read the study guide once and pay attention in class then it's an easy perfect score. There is also only a mid-term and final.
Dr. Thomas is able to provide many examples from his own life to help make us better understand what he is talking about. All of the quizzes come word for word from the study guide and same for the midterm and final. The final is worth 40% of your grade.
Definitely knows what he is talking about. Keeps class interesting. Better have a solid foundation in Micro before taking his class.
My favorite teach. Very educated in his field and every class feels like a Ted Talk. Very passable class if any effort is given.
Top-Notch lecturer
Lectures can be somewhat dry, but if you actually listen there is some interesting information. A lot of quizzes.
Everyone should take a class with Dr. Thomas. He is a really smart guy and has a lot of experience.
Dr. Thomas is pretty good has 24 quiz's per semester but drops 4 lowest
Dr. Thomas' class is pretty simple if you read the workbook and attend class.
The tags, "lectures are long" & the "tests are tough" sum up this class real nice.
I enjoyed the percentage that depended on the quizzes and how the quizzes worked. He was sometimes unprepared, but it wasn't too bad at all.
Sooo many quizzes. The only thing you have to do is memorize answers to do good on the quizzes, but you won't learn a single thing about econ in his class.
Probably the most over qualified teacher I've ever had. Loves what he teaches and you can tell through his lectures. Very cool to listen to. Make sure you get the study guide book because that is where all test and quiz questions/answers come from.
One of the most interesting teachers I've ever had
Fun teacher, easy to learn from, makes the class exciting. You can tell he cares about what he teaches. If he was a calculator, he would be able to divide by zero.
Econ 202 Monday Wednesday class. Favorite teacher this semester
Dr. Thomas is there for the students. He is an intellect with a lot of experience and knows the field well.
Only 2 tests, midterm and final which the answers come from the study guide. Lectures are boring and long. Quizzes about every other day.
Most helpful useful class and fun
Total bro
Thomas is a good teacher and will be easy if you buy the book and study for the quizzes. I didn't think I would need it and suffered for it. Buy the book! Study it! and you will easily pass.
Dr. Thomas is very knowledgeable about economics as well of the world of business. He is more than willing to share is entrepreneurial experiences, failures, and successes. He's had a very, very lucrative career so if growing a business interests you I could not recommend his class more. His 5 to 10 life stories are incredible.
Professor Thomas was very good at teaching Econ 202 and I liked it much more than Econ 201. Attend class because you have several icliker quizzes but the questions are straight from the study guide so as long as you study they wont be an issue. Great class and I learned a ton from Professor Thomas!
He is a super smart guy and knows how to teach the material to you. Make sure you have the study guide because all the quiz and test questions come from there. I would highly recommend!
Dr. Thomas is a fantastic professor. He has started up and been the CEO of multiple companies, so he teaches from real-world experience, not from something he learned out of a textbook. His lectures are super engaging and interesting and I never want to miss class. He makes Economics enjoyable to learn.
Very interesting to listen to, gives you tools that you can actually use in the real world. Goes on a lot of tangents, but it's usually a pretty good story.
It's a fairly easy class if you pay attention and study for the frequent quizzes.
Well, make sure you do well on the quizzes and buy the study guide when buying your books. Great professor would take course again.
Dr. Thomas is a very smart professor who definitely knows what he is talking about. His lectures are usually very interesting and he adds in stories that make it even better. The only problem with Dr. Thomas is there are very few points available you take quizzes every chapter worth 2 points and you only take 2 tests making it tougher to get an A.
ECON202-2 If you want to pass you have to show up to class. The quizzes don't seem like a big deal to miss but they add up quickly. He makes the class as easy as possible, practically handing out A's but you still have to be willing to do the work. Best Econ teacher I've had, very open, and has a lot of experience that he shares with the class.
Very understanding with his students. Class is kind of boring but there are quizzes mostly every class. Quizzes are super easy if you do the study guide for the chapter. Quiz questions and test questions are all word for word right out of the study guide, making it easy to get a good grade. No homework otherwise.
He always talks about how awesome him and his family are. But he really knows what he is talking about, and his lectures are very informative.
You have a quiz every class, but its only a few questions. And the tests are easy in you study enough.
94% to earn an A in the class is really tough. Final is worth 40% of your final grade.
Not an easy A. Must work hard to earn a B. Very smart professor.
average
Must have teacher at BSU. His real world experience separates him from other professors . Brilliant
One of the easier electives within the econ dept. one of the best teachers forsure
He's very big into providing incentives to come to class and review the study guide. He has an iclicker quiz every Monday, but if you study the study guide every week you'll be fine.
Great professor was very helpful but likes to do tests for grades. Not your normal test things like have 40 people in your class use rate your professor as a public good project. Makes you rely on people in your class to determine this quiz.
Easy just makes some odd things for assignments sometimes
Not a hard proffesor. If i could i would take him again in a heartbeat
Gotta work hard
Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
This class has been the highlight of my semester
Some might say not to get the study guide for this class but that's basically wwhat all the quizzes are based off of so i would invest in getting the study guide so you won't have a D like me.
I learned more in this class than I did in any other this semester. He makes difficult subject easy to understand and I feel I can actually apply what I learned in this class to problems I may encounter in the future.
1 quiz over each chapter, 23 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final.
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss out on the lectures i can almost guarantee you won't pass. I wish you would've been able to take the quizzes online at home because i would've received 2/2 on every one. Oh well.
Sleep with your workbook next to you. Walk with your workbook in your hand. Eat lunch with your workbook. You both will be forced to be best friends when you take this class.
Really cool guy, just talks the whole class though.
Make sure you take as many quizzes as possible for points.
Study guide is life.
Attend class and be prepared for quizzes and then help make lectures go smoothly by participating.
If you ask for help he will give it. He also asks if there's any questions. Also, no grade is given, you have to work for your grades
Attend class, use the study guide and make sure you listen to the lectures as there are questions on the final that come from those.
Always willing to talk with students. He knows he's smart, but he has good reason for it with all of his success in the real world. He's a fount of knowledge if you have any questions about that kind of stuff. He complains about/hates grading, though, so don't expect him to get back with Case Studies/assignments for a while after they're due.
He is the best teacher for Econ. He has so much real-life experience in this field. I'm not an Econ major, but I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Two tests. Midterm and the Final. And then a homework grade. His stories make the class enjoyable
A really solid professor all around. He is very clear about the material in class. Homework uses book because lectures are not over the book. Answers any and all questions you may have. The TA and GAs are available to help with homework if you have issues. If he taught another of my classes I would definitely take his class again.
When you're just taking basic economics, he does such a fantastic job of making things interesting and applying the concepts to the real world in an interesting way. Never bored in his class, makes learning fun. I hate when I have to miss class and luckily am not punished if I do.
I hate economics, I find it boring. That is until I had Dr. Thomas. He takes a boring subject and is able to not only simplify it but also make it interesting. He has great stories and is an engaging speaker who is very easy to listen to. The man loves talking to don't be afraid to ask him for help. I hate skipping, I enjoy it that much.
Dr. Thomas makes economics interesting & explains it in simple ways that make it very easy for people who aren't enthusiastic about economics to understand. Hearing his stories about his life experience is an added bonus. Only grades taken are weekly homework, midterm, final & one extra credit quiz. Show up & participate & you will easily pass
Attendance isn't mandatory but if you skip his lectures you won't pass. Whole class is only out of 100 points. 2 Tests and many 2 point assignments that seem impossible to pass sometimes. Neither him nor the textbook do a good job preparing you for the assignments but they do for the test.
Final and Midterm add up to 60% of final grade. Homework is math heavy, tests are not. He did a good job, subject just wasn't exciting for me.
I loved the lectures Dr. Thomas gave, but the class is tough. You use APLIA for homework but he takes the average of the scores, and the entire class is out of 100 points, 55 being the final and midterm. If you need this just for your econ202 credit, i would not recommend, but if you're an econ major, or already good at econ, go ahead!
Professor you want to take Econ 202
Great Professor. Although class is not mandatory, you will do poorly on tests if you do not go.
Great class and I'd recommend him as a teacher for any classes he teaches. Econ 202
Great teacher! ECON 202
Dr. Thomas definitely knows what he is talking about when it comes to economics. Though his lectures can become repetitive and dry after some time. If you can handle daily lectures and remember to check the syllabus as well, you will do just fine in his class.
He is very straightforward on what he wants from you. There are only two tests that take up a majority of your grade. The homework due each week can get tough, but you get three chances and he takes your best score. Class is not mandatory, but it is hard to pass if you do not go.
Lectures are interesting; he often will tell interesting stories that pertain to economics. All of the homework is done online and worth about 40%. He also drops the lowest 3 hw assignments. You can skip class, but don't skip a lot because the exams are based of the lectures and make sure you show up to classes before the exam.
Overall good class
Overall one of my favorite professors at ball state. His class consists of online hw (40%), a midterm (20%), and a final (40%). If you show up to class and try on the homework an A is easily attainable. He is extremely intelligent and wants nothing but his students to succeed. If you take Econ 202 I would highly recommend this class
I loved having Dr. Thomas! Hes one of my favorite professors because of the stories and experiences he has behind him, making class actually interesting. He really knows what hes doing econ-wise, previously having 4 businesses & selling each one. He is a published author on the topic of econ. If you dont show up to class you wont pass!!!!
Dr. Thomas is an AMAZING professor who truly cares about his job. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you need to go to class to understand the content because that information is what is on the midterm and final. As for the homework, it's not that hard if you just read the textbook and take good notes.
Dr. Thomas explains the material very well and utilizes real events to explain the significance of topics which is very useful. I wish there were more examples of the homework problems, but the than that everything goes very well in his class.
Very good professor. Has real life experience. The only grade you get is from weekly homework assignments, the midterm, and the final. And the midterm/final are heavily based off the lectures so you wont pass if you skip all the time. Definitely would take his class again.
Weekly homework assignments that more or less relate to the class lectures but you end up just teaching yourself. Three tries on homework questions though so if you don't get an A or B you're doing something wrong. One midterm and one final. Midterm was not difficult if you've come to class for most of it and/or taken a previous econ class.
His lectures and stories are very interesting. He is a great teacher! Take his classes if you can.
Dr. Thomas is a very good teacher as long as you show up to class. Event though attendance is not mandatory the class will be tough without going. His lectures are interesting and he always adds in his own experience and or examples to clarify the topic. there is only two exams that equal a total of 60% of your grade so be ready to study. ECON202
I love going to economics class because of Dr. Thomas. He makes the class interesting and somewhat easy. Although attendance isn't mandatory, you need to attend class to pass. Don't count on other classmates to give you the notes lol! I would definitely take his class again!!
Great professor for ECON 202! Attendance is not mandatory, but you need to go to class if you want to pass. Dr. Thomas keeps it very interesting through telling stories of his real life experience.
Weekly homework assignments that you get 3 chances to answer, midterm, and final. Dr. Thomas explains topics with his own stories and experiences, which makes the class more interesting. He doesn't take attendance, but you should show up to understand the material because the midterm and final are heavily based on his lectures.
Dr. David Chandler Thomas is a very intelligent, respected, and successful professor. Each of his class lectures are worth going to due to the great amount of information learned every time you attend. He also shares very great stories from his life that go along with the lecture and are quite entertaining! I would totally take his course again.
Lecture is important to attend. He even says in the beginning that the people that don't come to class will fail. He does not take attendance, but you will miss a lot of information if you do not come to class. Online homework assign. once a week. He is always available to ask questions if needed. He loves econ and is a very smart, successful guy!
If you want to do well go to class, he'll say this at the beginning of the semester, too. Lectures aren't bad and neither is the homework; homework is 1-2 assignments a week and recommended not waiting till Friday to start. Great professor with a lot of experience, loves econ, and very successful.
Test are 60% of your grade and the rest is from homework. You only have a midterm and final and he goes over what will be on them. Class is very manageable. He test over what we teaches not what is in the book. Talks a lot about real world situations. Very entertaining class I highly recommend.
Great Professor! Loves what he does and has interesting and engaging lectures. Word to the wise: when you are doing the online homework scroll down because sometimes there are more than one assignments due and you can easily overlook them and accidentally miss 1/2 the homework points (not that I did that or anything).
He was a actually a good teacher. He gave weekly connect homework. He also goes over everything on the final but you have to attend to pass his class but he doesn't take attendance. Would be willing to take him again.
Dr. Thomas is a really nice guy. The homework is all pretty easy but the only thing that goes in the gradebook is the homework and two test grades. The lowest three homework grades are dropped and the midterm is only worth 20 points.
There is a homework every week and a midterm and final. Attendance isnt taken but you will want to come to the lectures because the tests are based on his lectures. He makes it very interesting and fun! He is great teacher.
Amazing prof. Best econ 202 professor hands down
The HW can be a bit difficult, but there are not very many tests. Overall, the professor did a great job.
Come to class to past the mid-term and final. Weekly homework.
His attendance is not mandatory, however you need to go to class in order to fully understand what's going on. Econ is a hard subject but he does a really good job of keeping lectures interesting and relating it to current events. Homework doesn't quite go with the class material but also helpful to do. Tests are mostly lecture-based. ECON 202
Attendance is not mandatory but the midterm and final exams are based off of lectures. Every class is a lecture, but they are fairly interesting. Only grades are the midterm, final, and homework so make sure you do the homework. Dr. Thomas explains concepts very well.
Dont skip class or you wont pass. Few grades so make them all count.
Dont skip class or you wont pass. Few grades so make them all count!!!
He is a great professor but his midterm and final are based off of lecture and review sessions. Review sessions were helpful but he uses a large bank of questions to pull questions from so really pay attention in lecture.
One of the best professor in the Miller College of Business. His background and experience speaks for itself. Always accessible outside of class. Would highly recommend.
Dr. Thomas is a good professor and explains things well. He has lot of experiences and stories that he relates topics to to help you understand. Homework every week and is sometimes difficult but he will help if you go to him and you can usually find how to do the homework in the textbook. Go to class or you won't pass the midterm or final.
Dr. Thomas was a very good professor. He made a difficult topic, macroeconomics, digestible and entertaining. This was made even more clear when he was sick and we had a sub that didn't do nearly as good of a job. He's very intelligent and has some crazy life stories.
Dr. Thomas is a great professor. The class consists of 2 tests and homework. You do not need to goto class, but you will not do good on the tests cause they are based more on his lectures and not the book. Would take again.
He crammed 90% of the course work into the last 4 week. He has been in the hospital (not his fault), but this is hindering the benefit students receive. It is sad but, he should not be a professor if he can no longer do his job. I would say this class has been a waste of money and time due to his inability to teach and his inability to use Canvas.
This professor is a nightmare, none of the homework assignments correlate with the content covered in class. During his lectures its just definitions of Macroeconomic principles, but the homework is not taught or covered in class, he is slow to respond and difficult to get a hold of
