Funny guy. Good Prof.

He's good and friendly.
omg, this is a tough class. esp if you miss which i did. so my advice, don't skip! and don't let your cell ring - he's not kidding when he says he'll answer it :(
Interesting class. Not a bad professor. Study!! If you read the book and understand it (do the hws) then you should be fine! Exams aren't too bad, just make sure you understand everything from the book. He posts a pratice test online before exams, it helps!
funny guy which makes class more entertaining, but the tests are killer and the group activities seem easy enough but one mistake can ruin your grade on it. it is possible to make an A if you go to every class and get a good group. Bs are easy to get though
Tests are tricky, I did better towards the end but I read more towards the end. Bit of advice try not to miss class most of the stuff on the test he covers in lecture. He's super funny, and he's pretty clear in his lectures. Get a smart group! Other people that know what they are doing will help a lot. TURN OFF UR CELL
When I had class with him, I actually went to class for a change and made an effort to learn. I used to look forward to his class. He is a very chill dude and probably one of the funniest professors at UT
Funny in an accounting nerd kind of way. Good lecturer. Pretty helpful but is sometimes unnecessarily, and annoyingly, ambiguous. All exams were online, which was nice, but I'd HIGHLY recommend doing the practice exams ahead of time.
I went to 75% of the classes stoned and still got an A. All you have to do is show up and click. Study the practice exams to do well on the real exams. People usually post the answers to the hw/quizzes on the online discussion chat room. Pretty fun class, VERY EASY
Attendance not mandatory but you can build up your grade with participation points each class. He let's you decide how you want the class to break down between tests, quizzes, participation, and assignments in the first week of class.
He is in an okay professor. He is funny, but does not know how to teach.
I liked this class! He was funny and I enjoyed the interactive class with the lemonade game and the monopoly. It really put things into prospective. His tests can be a little difficult but other than that, you learn a lot from this guy.
He is funny and makes accounting interesting. You spend the semester playing Lemonade Tycoon against over sections. You must be there 85% of time. He takes participation with clicker and those can be use as bonus in the end. 2 tests, he gives you practice tests almost identical to real test. Not difficult and easy to listen to.
Took him for accounting, he talks like he's on a game show everyday which gets a little annoying after awhile. Hard to pay attention, doesn't teach very well but it's not too hard.
Dr. Verduzco was not a good professor in my opinion. He was overly animated and taught in a way that made things more difficult than they should have been. I attended every lecture, and the practice problems in class were ridiculously easy in comparison to his exams & there are only 2! I regret not taking this course from the other prof over summer
Energetic professor, but the material is so dry and boring. His lectures were confusing at times and this class requires a lot of practicing problems. Tests are hard! Hated the class and the material, but Verduzco is a nice guy.
Lectures were ridiculously pointless and made learning concepts way harder than it should've been. Mandatory clicker questions, and you have to do 95% of the learning on your own. I learned nothing from going to class other than how to daydream about Lemonade Tycoon.
He is boring, and you have to come to class everyday for the clicker. Gives random pop quizzes. Also he gives certain sections 1 point on the overall grade if they win marketplace, but its not fair for the sections that don't win. If you are in the right section you can get a lot of extra credit.
Very difficult tests. The other accounting teacher is easier
I wasn't a fan of Verduzco, as his humor can get annoying really fast. There are 2 test, but he has a tendency to give out random quizzes, so make sure you go to class. Also clicker attendance is 10% of grade. Wasn't an easy class, but doable with some effort.
First class I have ever had to drop because I hated it that much. This class is not cool. Not interesting. Very boring and excruciatingly difficult.
Verduzco is a good professor. If anyone writes a really strong and scathing review about him, don't trust it. The class is simple and lecture is often boring. Quizzes always seem to get the best of me but the tests are easy if you study. He offers good study materials and does simulations of the concepts that are helpful. Good class, nice prof.
The material is really boring, but he does his best to spice it up. The entire course revolves around two simulation games: LemonadeTycoon and Marketplace. iClicker participation grades in class every day, online quizzes twice a week, Cengage assignments every two weeks or so, two exams: midterm and final. Not too bad if you prepare.
tough class
tough class..............
Lectures are clear and engaging with very helpful notes provided by the teacher. Extremely helpful in office hours and very personable. Tests are very manageable. Highly recommend any optional software packages. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Overall takes a bit of work for the homework and two tests but nothing outrageous. No final exam.
He tried something knew and gave around twenty quizzes throughout the semester instead of exams. That requires you to be on top of your game more but they were easy quizzes over stuff he just lectured about. Best to attend each class for the best quiz grades (60% of final)!! No final exam. A few assignments throughout the semester (7 tops).
I took this class to fulfill a BFP requirement. As long as you show up to lectures and take notes, you will have an A in this class. Although there are a lot of quizzes (both inside and outside of class) and homework, there are no tests! He teaches through Lemonade Tycoon and Marketplace which is a cool way to grasp the concepts.
By far my favorite class I've taken. Lectures are mandatory but interesting, and essential to passing. No tests, no final. All the grades were homework, quizzes, and in-class polling. If you understand the lecture then the textbook is not necessary, but is supplemental. If his section is open, TAKE IT.
I didn't like this class. Only took it because it was required. It's easy if you already understand accounting, but he does not explain the information well. I didn't do poorly but I didn't do as well as I expected. No tests and no final, which is cool. He's not the worst professor but I don't like his teaching methods. Its not that much work.
There are no exams in this course which is nice. Although, he uses Lemonade Tycoon to teach us accounting and it made things more confusing.
Classic "Easy A" class. Teaching style is not my preferred one so I honestly don't think I've learned much in this class. Better off just going to Accounting Coach if you want to learn about accounting. He's a nice guy though. Like most accounting classes, his lectures are pretty boring.
Not a fan of the layout of this class, though it did make it easy to pull a good grade - 20 quizzes, most online and untimed. A 5-6 assignments also online and untimed, and 15% of your grade is just participation surveys. Made a good grade, and really like Verduzco as a person, but know nothing about Accounting still.
Verduzco is a very nice and funny guy. Although the class is huge, he makes you feel welcomed. The class wasn't a blow off course, but it wasn't extremely difficult either. The workload was an average amount, especially considering there being no exams (which he replaced with a higher number of quizzes). I enjoyed the class and would recommend.
If you take the online class, it's poorly formatted and he really doesn't care if you even have legitimate excuses to not finish quizzes on time.
Tries hard to be funny. Not good at explaining anything. My mom is an accountant and disagreed with multiple things he taught us throughout the semester. Expect a quiz as homework after almost every class. No exams, but if there were exams I would fail because he is not good at teaching.
There are no exams and the class is instead based on about 20 quizzes. Verduzco is not a very organized professor, but the topics covered are not too difficult. You kind of have to teach yourself the material.
Pretty easy class. He tries really hard to be funny and connect with the students, but overall it doesn't work. The quizzes were super easy, he basically gave all of the answers in class. If you show up to class and pay attention getting an A is super easy.
Great professor and great class if you put in the relatively light amount of work required.
Nice and funny, but not the best at teaching material. 15-20 quizzes make up bulk of your grade so if you keep up with material and have friends in the class its an easy A even if you get lost during lecture. Participation surveys are way of taking attendance, and often what determined students final grades as most had very similar quiz averages.
He's literally lectures like a game show host. Verduzco is adorable but doing well in his class can be a little tricky. The majority of the final grade comes from 18-20 quizzes which can be a little tricky and confusing at times. Makes LOTS of friends in the class and you should be fine!
He does absolutely nothing to help students learn the content. He moves way too fast and expects you to understand everything. You teach yourself everything in this class. Quizzes are quite difficult. Not easy like everyone says it is. Don't care for teaching style. Don't take this professor if you don't have to.
This class is essentially designed to be a weed out class. It's extremely fast paced and Verduzco does not give adequate time on his quizzes. Does not accommodate to students who have anxiety about timed quizzes. Just disappointing.
This class is much harder than it used to be. Quizzes are timed and can be quite tricky- if you miss one question, you're left with an 80 or 90. You need 94+ for an A. Expect homework after every class, twice a week. Most profs are much friendlier/less intimidating when you speak with them one on one. Verduzco is the opposite. NOT an easy A.
The quizzes are somehow impossible. I've made perfect scores of the assignments, but I have hardly passed any of the timed quizzes. I have my dad on the phone for help on quizzes(who has a Master's in business/accounting/finance) and I STILL can't pass them. Despite having perfect attendance/assignment grades, I'll be making a C because of quizzes.
Probably the best teacher to teach accounting. He makes it easy if you pay attention. No exams, just try your best and this class is a nice ride.
He's a really funny teacher, which makes class more enjoyable. He explained the concepts well and had me excited to learn more.
If you think this is a blow off class, YOU'RE WRONG. The entire grade is basically based on these online quizzes which are freakin' hard. Make study groups to take them or like a Facebook group or something. He drops 3 quizzes and 1 assignment though so that kind of helps. Attendance isn't technically mandatory but you assigns surveys in class.
Don't take this class expecting to get an A. His standard for an A is scoring 94+ with no rounding which is pretty hard to get. The quizzes are open note and make up 60 percent of your grade and can be pretty challenging. There's a TON of cheating that goes on as people collaborate to do quizzes and assignments so take with a friend or make some.
As a CNS major I completely underestimated this class. There are 20 difficult, timed quizzes that make up the bulk of your grade so try to do well on them from the beginning. He sometimes breezed over material, but still quizzed us over more in depth concepts. Try not to take with rigorous courses needed for your degree.
Dr. Verduzco is a wonderful professor for non-accounting majors. I have learned a lot through this course. The class is made up of weekly quizzes and participation surveys, no tests. Defiantly would recommend for anyone needing ACC310F
I took this class expecting it to be a blow-off - it wasn't. There's so many timed quizzes to take and they were incredibly difficult. Study groups will be your savior in this class! Just make sure you do all the assignments (surveys, assignments, quizzes), as he will drop a couple of each. The class isn't difficult, you just need to work for an A
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. 60% of your grade is based off of 17-20 EXTREMELY DIFFICULT (& nearly impossible) timed quizzes. You get 20 minutes for 10 questions (and half of these questions require extensive thought/math). I have 100s for everything else, yet will get a B b/c of the quizzes.
Most of your grade is based off of around 17 quizzes that are timed and pretty stressful (since they require calculations on the spot). It's difficult, but doable to get an A in this class. Must go to class for participation grade.
It will be an easy A for you if you have a group of people in that class to help you understand what you don't understand. I enjoyed this class, and this is how I made my first few friends at UT despite my sophomore status.
do NOT recommend taking this professor. tons of 10 question/20 minute online quizzes which are impossible to finish in time. I love math, but this class and teaching format is impossible. Easy C.
the timed quizzes make up most of the grade and they can be pretty challenging
Not an enjoyable class, the timed quizzes at home are very stressful, and it's difficult to know what exactly is going to be on them cause he'll pick stuff from all around the unit. Class wasn't very helpful either.
Tough class, you definitely need to make friends in this to pass. Very vague and boring during lectures. One of the toughest classes I had to take for my minor.
If you wanna make it out with a decent grade, you HAVE to find smart friends. Timed quizzes are tricky and generally hard, and in class assignments are fairly long. Your only easy A's are the CNOW assignments. Verduzco himself is an alright teacher, I could understand the concepts. Playing lemonade tycoon is also pretty fun.
Do not take this professor. He makes a lot of careless mistakes but refuses to admit that he made them. He is rude when you ask questions and is not helpful. I spent hundreds of dollars on a tutor for this class and will still not be making an A. I am typically an A student.
I believe this professor has one of the easiest classes for the business minor. He was a pretty decent professor and was always able to give me the lecture notes when I missed class (8 times). Just now the concepts in the beginning and you'll be fine. Making some friends in class will also help a lot
He's a pretty good lecturer, definitely find a smart group early to work on group assignments with. Quizzes are tricky at first but you learn what to expect. It's really not a hard class if you just go to class and for God's sake work through the questions in class so you have notes to reference.
His class is huge and I have never made eye contact with him. His lectures seem dull but you learn well enough if you pay attention. You should get a decent grade if you're careful enough but overall not the most interesting class I've taken.
I took the Foundations of Accounting Summer Online class, which was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Since it is largely self-paced, if you stay on top of the deadlines every week, then you will do well. The problems come when waiting until the last day to get through all the materials. This class was taught by a team of instructors.
The exercises in this class are pretty easy, but the exams are SO much harder than what you've been doing. Practice exam is also easier than the real test. There are 2 midterms and a final. The midterms are 30 questions and you only have 1 hour to do them, which is not enough time. Take this class only if you have the time to dedicate to it!!!
Funny guy, he recently added exams to the class but it was probably for the better since the quizzes felt way harder and it used to be your only grades. Daily participation exercises, easy & drops 3. Dropped 2 quizzes. If you truly pay attention in class, you will be just fine. He does a lot of examples that relate to the ones on exams.
This class was much easier than I expected it to be, if you know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide then you already have 50% of the class covered and learned. The hard part is mostly the conceptual stuff which can be confusing since its not that interesting. Group projects are mandatory so find a squad before its too late!
He added tests this semester, so quizzes (which I thought were harder) weigh less. Once you get used to the structure of questions on quizzes, the tests aren't too bad. Practice exams are life savers for the tests. His explanations are easy to follow but it's pretty easy to zone out. Find smart people to work group assignments with.
Must show up to class or office hours for the notes. Textbook is not necessary at all. Everything tested or quizzed over comes from class notes. Most graded activities are completed using personal notes, so an A is absolutely obtainable. He is obviously passionate but lectures can drag sometimes. Random group assignments/quizzes in class.
Most of the content is taught in class, you really don't need the textbook at all. Group assignments save your grade and tend to be pretty easy. Tests and Canvas quizzes are open note, which helps a lot.
I honestly hated this class. It wasn't hard for me, it was just tricky. Don't bother emailing him because you will send a formal email and he will respond with 3-6 improper grammar messages. He is just a very annoying professor. I would have rather taken it online.
He won't post filled in notes, so you have to go to class to learn. Refused to answer some of the questions I asked and when he did answer them he refused to explain them. Tests are okay, there are three including the final and he drops one. Quizzes can be rough but group assignments are easy if you just pay attention.
Verduzco was a cool professor. Very clear and defined layout of the class. Lectures were nice and easy to follow. Although it is very easy, you definitely have to go to class because there are pop quizzes and he doesn't post the full notes online. But as long as you go to class and take good notes, this class is a breeze. Very chill guy.
I have never gotten below a B+ in any classes in my whole life. I got a C+ and tried very hard. Dont even bother asking Verduzco a question in class because he will be extremely condescending, look at you like youre an idiot and wont answer the question anyways. The questions on his quizzes and exams are impossible, even though theyre open not
Verduzco gives so much opportunities to make a decent grade in accounting. He drops three group assignments, two quizzes, and one exam! Most of the quizzes and all of the exams are online! However beware, he is really big on concepts for quizzes and exams. Please try not to miss class because you would regret it! Also choose your group mates wisely
I never thought that Accounting would be difficult, but Verduzco made it so. *Most* concepts were easy enough to work through, but some were so far out there to the point of frustration. My accountant friend reviewed one of the quizzes I had taken and said, huh? I just shook my head. Find a good group EARLY or you WILL struggle. Good drop policy.
Show up and pay attention! This prof is really bad at answering questions even in office hours. Take really good notes because it will be difficult to go back and do the homework without good lecture notes. There are quizzes (5-6), participation homeworks (over 20), group assignments in class (5-6) and 2 exams with an optional final (cumulative).
This class isn't a breeze, but it's still a watered-down accounting class. Pay attention, take notes, find a good group, and you'll be fine. The participation exercises (3 tries) and quizzes (2 drops) and notes are all formatted like the exams (1 drop), and everything is open-note. I'd suggest taking notes on the ppt template he provides.
Not an easy A, but can manage it with some effort. Hw is easy, quizzes r harder than the tests in my opinion, and he recycles some questions from both on the tests. He also gives 2 practice exams for each test, with similar questions to what you will see on the test. Minimal use of the book, only needed it for a couple of questions on quizzes/tests
I thought this class was fine. nothing too hard, nothing too easy. It is known for being the easiest of all the accounting classes offered at Mccombs. As long as you go to class and follow along you should be fine. Not bad at all. Verduzco knows what hes talking about!
Verduzco's class is set up in a way that forces you to fail. Random pop quizzes in class with super specific information on it that you've barely learned destroy your grade. Tests are online and many students will hire tutors to take it with them which kills the curve. Do not take if you can get credit elsewhere.
I got a 93.1, and that's considered an A- in his class?? so annoying. But his lectures were engaging, and I recommend printing out his slides (2 per page, double-sided) bc it makes lectures easy to follow. He does not curve bc of the mccombs "rule". Textbook is not necessary if you take adequate notes & pay attention in class.
The tests for this class are timed, and there is basically no time. You can manage an A in the class if you try really hard but you do have to work for it. Quizzes are harder than tests but the tests are still somewhat hard. Also you fill in notes when you go to class and he goes over a lot per class. Missing class means missing important concepts
This was the most frustrating class that I have taken in my academic career. I knew the material and how to work problems yet the pointless, tricky worded questions on the tests and quizzes seem designed for your demise. Highly recommend NOT taking this robotic professor.
Okay class and okay professor. The quizzes and tests were frustrating in that they had weirdly specific word questions on things we'd never learned in class and weren't explained in the textbook either. So it's pretty difficult to do very well in class even putting in extra effort.
I did not like the structure of the notes and examples. There was so much going on from the previous slides that is relevant to the current that it was difficult keeping up. Nice guy, fair with grading and exams, but sometimes it was really boring and practice problems were dull
Lectures are very entertaining and he tells corny jokes which made me laugh. You get to use notes on online quizzes and exams. Optional final. Does not round :/ so 89.9 was a B+.
An amazing prof who genuinely cares about what he teaches and his students. Actually makes accounting fun to go to everyday. I would recommend going to class just because it makes life easier when it comes to testing, but you dont necessarily have to.
Good lectures but theres a lot of material. 3 exams, no final, one drop. HW every week and about 7 quizzes. Easier if you make friends in the class for group assignments. Everything else is online and open note. Took this class P/F. He sometimes words questions weirdly and exams/ quizzes are timed which can be stressful bc theres lots of math.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I fully understood the course content but failed every quiz/exam and had to drop the class. Quizzes and exams are timed, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to finish in time and check your work. If you must take it (but DON'T), go to the PLUS sessions, the student leaders are far more helpful than he ever was and not condescending.
He's been teaching this course for a while so he has the structure of the course down. He can go pretty fast sometimes but he posts the lecture slides ahead of time. Content is not too hard, annoying part is constant participation exercise before each class, online quizzes that don't have enough time and mandatory group projects.
Fine class. Lectures were very bland and he was boring to listen to but he got the information across moderately well. Tests were not too difficult and he lets you drop your lowest test score. Pop quizzes on information we did not fully understand yet hurt my grade.
Quizzes were the main issue I had with this class. They are timed and there was just no time to do the calculations necessary. It hurt my grade and it was so frustrating because I knew the material and did well on participation exercises, group assignments, and Tests. The timing on the quizzes were just off and i felt like i never had time to think
His answers are sometimes unhelpful. Pop Quizzes: 20-min limit stressful when doing quick calculations. 2 Online Exams: 30 Qs (fill-in/MC) & open-note like long quizzes. Concept questions are hard bc we mainly practice math. Group Assignments: Like class practice. Easy if you're in a good group. Attend PLUS. Optional final. Don't need textbook.
Has fill-in-the-blank notes that are helpful during lectures. Quizzes and tests are hard because there's often not enough time and there are some questions that are from the textbook that he doesn't even discuss in class. PLUS sessions are extremely helpful, so go to those. Know how to do the math for problems and you should do fine.
Literally a game show host. Lectures are scenario questions he works through and then has you do your own, so if you don't go to lecture you'll have a blank ppt slide. Studied 3 days before exam, but GO TO CLASS! Def doable but not an "easy A." Don't buy the textbook. Exams are 30 mult-choice Canvas q's set up like the group assignments + quizzes.
You have participation quizzes every week but they're pretty easy. The exams and other quizzes are all on canvas. I found them to be a little challenging since they have a time limit. Overall, Professor Verduzco was great! He will help you on any questions you have.
Good, organized lecturer, even when class transitioned online. Most assessments are done through canvas, except for about 6 "group projects" which are easy to get done during class. Quizzes and tests are timed, which was more of a problem for the quizzes than the tests. The A cutoff is a 94, so you have to be very careful to not lose any points.
This class is hard considering its for non-business majors. 2 test + optional finals, homework due before every class, 5 group assignments so make sure you make friends in class, and multiple quizzes. The quizzes were really hard especially conceptual(harder than exams). Exams are online open note. Nice guy but no room to negotiate grades ever
Verduzco is a very mediocre professor and assigns A LOT of work. There is hw due before every class. Also, he will not round your grades no matter how close you are to an A (I was less than 0.7% away from an A, and he didnt round it).
I'd like to say I'm pretty good at math, but this class was awful. Concept questions trick you up more than some of the math.
Pretty cool guy. Tests werent very great when it came to timing. This was mainly bc we had to fill in charts and do calculations. Tbh a bit harder than I had imagined, but doable.
I didn't take for credit cause it was during COVID and I gave up, but it's a super easy A. Legit don't show up and pass. Open note everything. Optional final. What a G
His quizzes are ridiculous. I watched all the lectures, took note carefully, created charts for calculation, sometimes read the book as well. But I did badly on the tests/quizzes still and I don't know why. I got the calculation mostly right, but the concept questions are extremely tricky sometime and they are not even covered in class. DON'T TAKE!
Little to no feedback on assignments/quizzes, and when feedback is given the explanation is unhelpful. Questions are always vague with some confounding variable to 'trick' students. Most questions seem nonsensical/nit-picky, cannot pass from only the textbook. Prof literally uses diff formulas for certain calculations, you must do things his way.
Professor gives tricky and specific questions when it comes to tests . Tests are worth more than half your grade. Yes there is a long break between tests but any silly mistakes like rounding wrong or not carefully reading will get you! Even if you know the concepts like the back of your hand the test will trick you and have you looking dumb
Professor Verdusco is very smart in regards to accounting. He does a good job of explaining test material in class. However, there are a lot of complimentary assignments that don't account for much. 60% of your grade is determined by your two top test scores. Nevertheless I think he's good.
Good lecturer. Tests and quizzes are tricky. Quizzes were only 20 minutes long to do a lot of calculations, and concept questions are harder than math ones. Could get by w/o a textbook, but you should find it online for free if you want an A. Stay on top of material. Tests account for almost whole grade, and one dropped exam among three.
The class was okay overall. The quizzes were unnecessarily hard just because we weren't given enough time to complete them which didn't make sense because the point is to test us on how well we know the subject, not how quickly we can do math. Still, as long as you do well on everything else you should be fine.
The class was pretty interesting and material was simple - on the surface. Verduzco's tests are full of tricks, so it is easy to mess up on the conceptual questions. He is really nice/accessible during office hours though and provides a lot of resources. The workload is not too bad, but make sure you study for the tests.
I was in the asynchronous version of the course, and I felt that Professor Verduzco's lectures and structure of the course was not very effective. I thought the quizzes and exams were difficult and had some tricky or confusing wording. I personally would not recommend the asynchronous version of the course-I'm not sure about the synchronous.
I took this class asynchronously and enjoyed it overall. He is very good at explaining the concepts during lectures and I feel like I understood everything thoroughly. The online quizzes and exams are very fast, however. Make sure to pay attention to his lectures. While they were optional, they helped tremendously.
As a STEM major taking the business minor, this was an overall easy class and a great prof who explained examples in detail. Saying that though 60 percent of your grade comes from 2 midterms and there are a few conceptual questions that are tricky. Easy A- but hard A in my opinion.
Overall enjoyed the class and didn't think it was too difficult. Verduzco is always very enthusiastic and engaging during lecture and the course was very organized. As long as you take notes and pay attention, it isn't difficult to do well on the exams.
Verduzco is such a sweet guy that cares about accounting and how you do in the course. He is enthusiastic and makes lectures bearable, he gives clear examples and his notes are well structured. Quizzes and tests are hard but if you study you should be successful.
if youre taking this class as a GPA booster. dont. i aced all his quizzes and assignments but ended up doing bad on his exams because theyre worth 60% of your grade and getting an overall poor grade in the course. the quizzes and exams have super tricky questions and he barely gives you time to finish them.
Very relaxed course with very few assignments and interesting material; HOWEVER, this course is NOT an easy A. The exams/quizzes are tricky, and wording on conceptual questions CAN be ambiguous as it can be interpreted in different ways. The exams are hard due to this, so watch out for "How many of these are true" type questions on tests.
I took this class asynchronously for the spring semester, and I think Professor Verduzco is such a gem. He explains the concepts very patiently and clearly. 3 exams (1 is optional) take up 60% of your grade. If you take notes and review carefully, it's totally an easy A. Textbooks are not that helpful (they do sometimes though).
Despite some concerns about the exams, I think using the textbook really helped me in this class. Professor Verduzco encourages practicing in it quite a bit and you're going to need it. Easy recommendation
Participation exercises and assignments are easy since he encourages collaboration. For quizzes and tests, the calculation type questions are easy and similar to questions done before, but the concept questions can be tricky especially the "how many of the following" questions. Open note tests. Lowest grade(s) in each category gets dropped.
Verduzco was always super friendly and generally lectured well, though some were a bit boring. The only negative thing about the class is the exams, as they make the large majority of your grade, so one bad one and you're already sunk. Just make sure to study and read the textbook.
I took this class online. It was very hard for me and caused me a lot of stress. I think the most stressful thing for me was the time limits, EVERYTHING IS TIMED. It is a very test heavy class. Wouldnt take again, but Im proud of myself for getting a A-. NO EXTRA CREDIT PERIOD dont even ask haha, however I did learn a lot. Expect to study a lot!
i took the asynchronous version and liked how it was organized. the weekly modules were easy to understand and the embedded exercises were really good practice. the quizzes and exams could be tricky. math/calc questions were easy but concept questions were worded very specifically, so pay attention and be careful! no ec but a couple of drops.
Asynchronous Summer 2021. About 1 day's worth of work per week, multiple attempts for the practice quizzes so it was easy to get full points on those. He covered all topics and formulas needed for quizzes & tests. My only complaint is that 2 tests made up 60% of the grade and an A is 94%+. The tests had some curveballs too, which didn't help.
I took the asynchronous class. Dr. Verduzco is a great instructor! He is upbeat during lecture and gives good, clear examples of problems and what is expected. Weekly assignments needed only a couple hours' work. Exams had a bit more complex problems than the quizzes.
Accounting can be HARD, but Verdusco makes it easier to understand plus he is very engaging. Definetely take him, he is a nice man.
Don't take this class asynchronously if you are not good at math. I have never struggled in school and I took this class and had so much trouble. I basically taught myself everything and all of it was new to me. I failed all the tests after studying. Verduzco was nice and I'm sure my experience would have been way better if I took this in person.
Absolutely the worst class Ive ever taken. Class grade is mainly off tests and they are ridiculously hard. Practice barely helps. He wins worst professor award. Even though he does teach decently, his tests are far harder than what we should be able to do. Time limit for the test is also an issue. He literally curves your average down. Dont take!
Professor Verduzco is very nice, has a good lecture pace, and his lectures are generally exhaustive enough to where you can probably get an A with no textbook. However it is the middle of finals week, and all the students are fighting tooth and nail with him to just to tell us what day our final exam is going to be lmao.
Prof Verduzco gives good lectures and explains concepts clearly, but the exams are difficult and the time limits don't help either. I'm glad I changed this class to pass/fail.
I took asynchronous, and finishing lecture videos was quick and simple. Lecture videos? AMAZING to understand. Assignments that go w/ lectures? EASY, always got an A. Quizzes and Exams? Dead HORRIBLE. Ridiculous time limit that always screwed everyone over. I HIGHLY recommend using Quizlet to make a formula sheet/step-by-step guide during exams.
Lecture's and assignment's were great + easy to understand and apply knowledge. Tests were horrible. Very little time and ALWAYS much harder than anything else we've done. Tests are 60% of your grade and are near impossible. Not to mention, he's the type of teacher to have an assignment due on Thanksgiving. Not sure how he is rated so high on here.
Very clear lecture videos. Assignments are easy. Exams need you to be very familiar with all the concepts for accuracy and time. Recommend to make a summary for each module so that you can apply them in exams, otherwise you will feel that there are too many concepts that you can't organize them.
I had to write a review because I took this course Fall 2021, and I feel like the other reviews from this same semester give the wrong impression. All you have to do is watch the lectures, take notes, follow the tips given by David to do well in the course, and go to office hours when confused and you will do fine. Time on exams was adequate.
He is really great at teaching. He is clear and gives examples with you during class. You have to work and spend the take the time to ask questions and do the practice problems. He gives you everything you need to succeed. The grade you get is up to you. This is no easy class, it requires practice and studying a moderate amount.
This class moves too fast unnecessarily. Dr. Verduzco is a great lecturer and provides a lot of opportunities in class for practice. The class content is interesting and the lectures are helpful, however, all quizzes and exams give very, very little time which I found a bit excessive.
Verduzco is a nice guy but a mid professor. His structure for the class SUCKS. 2 exams the entire semester is a lot of information to be tested over and theyre worth so much as well. There's no chance of recovery from a bad grade in this course however he lets you take the final optionally to better your grade. He's lucky hes the only acc prof here
Asynchronous. He is a really good lecturer, I would recommend. Pretty easy class, some of the quizzes and test questions would trip me up. A bit harder than it may seem at first, but still not toooo difficult. Basic math. I loved the asynchronous option of the class. I would finish the units quickly and not have to worry about it for a week!
Really easy class and one of the best professors. We only covered 2 slide decks for the entirety of the semester. Most of the content is straightforward and only basic arithmetic is required for this course. Drops lots of different grades and lowered the cutoff grades for the spring 2022 semester.
The lectures are great and very clear. He even gives you notes to fill out along with him. However, the class was very test-heavy (60% exams). Other grades are made up of quizzes, participation exercises, and multi-question assignments. It's tough doing decent on the other assignments just to get a C on the tests and it severely affect your grade.
I really liked this professor. For the synchronous version of this class, attendance is mandatory. His lectures are straight-forward and only basic arithmetic is required to do well. Tests and quizzes are open-note, and, personally, the amount of time to complete them is doable. Taking the final is optional and grade cutoffs may be lowered.
His lectures are great he gives you notes that you fill out throughout the class but the 2 exams make up a big portion of your grade. The tests are open-note, but I wouldn't rely so much on your notes due to the time limit and the questions being more concept based. If you keep up with the work and pay attention to lectures you will do fine.
The best accounting professor you will get tbh, sure his class is structured tough (exams are 60% of your grade), but his lectures are rlly good. Ig it helps that I kinda like accounting... but seriously don't know why his ratings are so low. You have to try ... if you expect to just have an A without studying then idk what to tell you.
Really randomly structured class. Tests are incredibly difficult and horribly timed (30 math heavy long questions in 75 mins). Quizzes horrible too and he springs them on u. The material itself isn't too tough but the class is just not structured well; if he changed the way the class was set up, it'd be much better
This class made me drop the whole business minor lol good luck. Maybe you have better luck in joining the synchronous class, but do not do asynch! You will fall behind and do terrible
Proffesor Verduzco was great! This class if definitily not an easy A and you have to watch all the lectures and practice to do well. This class took up most of my time but he was a good professor and i actually feel like i learned alot.
He is a nice man, but a pretty harsh professor. His exams are really tough and he barely gives you any time, nor does he accommodate well for students with disabilities. This class is tough, but sadly he is the only one who teaches it, so good luck charlie. Rewatch the lectures as much as you can and pray.
A great class to take overall.
One of my favorite personas during my freshman year of UT. He's kind, funny, and really sounds like he loves his job. The class is VERY straightforward and he makes accounting concepts really easy to understand. I would be cautious of the strict grading policy and how some of the work may not feel as familiar. Also seems to love Chipotle a lot.
terrible class tbh. 310F was so difficult, VERY exam heavy. wouldve been better if this class was offered in person instead of online. professor barely explained content and if he did, it was difficult to understand. im no longer a business minor after this class
Tough class. Very test heavy (60%) and the margin for error is quite slim. The content isn't that difficult to grasp, but quiz and test questions are rarely similar to what he covers in class. Calculation questions are pretty easy, but mc is hard. You also get little time to do the assessments. Everything is open book, but you will need to study.
Really easy content and not much work (< 2 hours a week total). Tests sometimes have pretty dumb questions where multiple answers seem correct, but it's an easy A either way.
This was an asynchronous class so the lectures were pre-recorded videos. The class was very well organized from the start. Exams and quizzes were difficult because there is a time limit but as long as you do the practice exams and learn some basic excel, these can become simple. You get drops on every type of assignment so one bad test grade is ok.
For awhile, I procrastinated on registering for this class because I was scared it was going to drop my GPA. Do not let these reviews scare you! Trust yourself and your abilities. Re-watch lecture videos if you need to and make sure you understand the practice problems. To prep for exams, just do the practice tests he puts up!
Verduzco was a great professor who taught well but it was difficult. One think I do recommend is to form a study group and do all the practice problems given. Extra help is necessary to do well in this course. Although the time situations with quizzes and exams really makes or break a grade. I believe you can do well. Be prepared for a challenge.
Get a study group! Very low workload. Drops one exam, two quizzes, and one homework. Funny guy and entertaining lectures.
Took the course asynchronously. Teaches the concepts he needs to teach and very easy to grasp knowledge. However, some exam questions are sort of ambiguous and can be tricky. Just prepare well and study with others.
Course was engaging, liked that he played music. Have the notes in front of you and work through problems as he goes through them, try to actually answer the instapolls. It will help you succeed! Between practice exams + reviewing assignments, participation exercises, and quizzes I felt more than prepared for the tests and thought I learned a lot!
Took this class for the business minor, not as bad as I thought it would be, however you MUST pay attention to succeed. Really wish this class wasn't online but besides that professor verduzco is very funny, and explains concepts well. Most assignments are super easy, however he does not give enough time for Quizzes/ Exams, so be sure to work fast
Verduzco himself is a great guy & amazing lecturer. Definitely take asynchronously bc he talks slow and you can just speed the lectures up. Layout of the modules makes it easy to stay on track, but this is DEFINITELY not a class to brush off. Pay attention, study materials he gives you, and you'll do fine. Spent about 4 hrs/week on this class.
He makes the questions hard by writing them without clarifying important things. He wouldn't take my doctors note to excuse my attendance when I literally had surgery. He doesn't give enough time for the questions he asks.
The questions he assigned were unclear about important aspects of the question that determined if the answer was correct. He also assigned long questions with multiple steps and didn't give enough time to complete the questions. He has attendance points and despite my doc note he REFUSED to give me attendance credit when I missed class for SURGERY.
Good professor, all work is online
Nice guy and a great lecturer. His lectures were easy to understand and explained well. However, the assignments were very tedious (if you mess up one part of an assignment you will likely miss most of the questions that follow). He does not give partial credit. The class is based on a few grades (mostly 3 exams), but you get to drop your lowest.
This course is just generally hard. Verduzco is a good professor but I found the class unnecessarily hard, especially the first few modules. If you want an A, get ready to work for it.
during class, there are small group and insta polls taken to count attendance and they are participation grade. there are a lot of assignments, around 6, that take quite some time to complete. there are three exams, but the lowest gets dropped so don't have to take the last! 7/10 really not that bad
Honestly this class was really difficult for me and I wouldn't recommend taking it if you don't have to. The quizzes, tests, and assignments are hard and will contain trick questions. Aside from that, professor Verduzco is insanely nice and the class is very organized. 1 exam is dropped and there are other drops in the class as well.
I was a bit hesitant going into this class, but Professor Verduzo is such a great professor. His class is very organized, and he teaches accounting concepts in a very clear way. The exams are worth a lot, but if you put in the effort, you will be fine!
Many people who hate on him have never taken a STEM class before, and it shows, lol. It really isn't that bad; I would say it is comparable to a stats class, maybe a little bit harder because, I will not lie, he does ask some tricky questions. That being said, I liked it, and his lectures were fun. EC of 2 points on grade at the end. TAKE ASYNC!
Very organized class, and he assigns 1 learning module/week, making the pace super manageable. The content is really easy, but it's easy to mess up because you do lots of calculations. He provides so much practice. Textbook is not necessary, but its helpful. A lot of people view this as a blowoff class and they end up doing poorly. Take it asynch!
Don't let bad reviews scare you if you're good at quantitative stuff or a stem major this class is super easy. His lectures are very well organized and he drops a bunch of grades including the lowest exam. It is test heavy and the questions can be tricky but if you take good notes you'll be fine. assignments were a bit tedious which was annoying.
Great teacher. The asynchronous class is very organized. Each module is released with multiple lecture videos as well as participation problems. The quizzes and tests are a little more difficult than the example problems so be sure to deeply understand the concept and equations. Overall great teacher and very kind!
He was a very nice person but the class is hard for no reason. The material is easy until the exam comes. There is not a lot of time given to do all the calculations. Also, the TAs never responded to any of my emails.
A surprisingly tricky class as the assignments and especially the tests have some trick questions and very weirdly worded questions that can get points docked. Lectures quite well
super sweet and easy prof! doesn't make module vids too long and explains each topic in an easy and uncomplicated way. just make sure to rly understand the material in each module and you'll be fine for tests. always available on chatter and posts practice exams and quiz questions so you can be prepared!
Class was good, hard mainly because of the quizzes. A lot of tricky questions and even some that contradicted the textbook which was annoying. I enjoyed how he taught in the modules, but I sometimes struggles with quiz and test questions even after studying quite a bit. Still got an 89 which at least for this year counted as an A- which was nice!
don't slack bc of the reviews-- u have to WORK in this class for that A. best advice i can give: FIND A STUDY GROUP! he's v clear during lectures but the tests/quizzes have tricky questions!! and ALWAYS do the practice exams before tests!! imo the quizzes are harder bc there's no practice quizzes for it so be prepared!!
Verduzco is a great professor and really good at explaining concepts. The class itself is also pretty easy as long as you pay attention to the lecture, literally everything is either word for word of similar but with the numbers changed. Go to office hours if you're struggling with something. It's not a complete blow off but still pretty easy.
Took for business minor. Not a blowoff but it's still pretty easy. I took the asynchronous version so I did not interact with the professor but he seemed like a nice guy. Lectures and notes are solid. Good communication/coordination from professor. No real complaints but also nothing super memorable. This was one of the classes of all time.
I took his online section, and everything was pretty clear cut. If you watch the lectures, do the homeworks, and quizzes you will be fine. The exams are not very difficult, especially since they follow the same structure as the 2 practice exams he posts. Overall, class gives many opportunities to succeed.
He is a very good lecturer and has a clear grading structure with drops in each category. The tests sometimes have confusing or subjective answer choices, but a lot of the questions are based off of examples done in class. Self-paced class meant I could watch lectures whenever I wanted, which made it flexible.
His lectures are pretty good. The exams and quizzes can be very cutthroat and fast paced. If you take notes seriously and don't just click through everything you can get a good grade in the class. Do all of the assignments and triple check everything
I took the summer Asynch version for my business credit and I would not recommend it. I have put countless hours into this course (readings, reviewing lectures, doing the practice problems, studying for the tests) and I still feel entirely lost. There is an overwhelming amount of course content shoved into ~3 months. This ate up my entire summer.
I had heard bad things about accounting, but Dr. Verduzco taught the material very well. He recommended we print out the notes at the start of the year and everything we covered was exactly what we needed for assignments and test. He dropped the lowest of the 2 midterms and final, so I didn't even need to take it. He's a great professor!
His lectures were very straightforward, but the quizzes and exams were quite challenging regarding time management. He expects you to understand the concepts and be able to apply the calculations. Overall, his class is great! I enjoyed it even though I don't have any accounting/ finance background. He curves at the end also, which is great.
I HATED this course so much. I took this course because it was a beginners course for non-business majors but the professor expected a lot and moved fast. He never gave enough time on assignments because there were steps that needed to be done and if they were rushed you could get the whole question wrong. Also his questions were not clear.
Very light class with some introduction to accounting topics. Ideas flowed well and expectations built on each other in a reasonable way. Lectures were concise and generally engaging. If there's any big problem with the class, it's the lack of depth in topics discussed and general lack of open-ended questions and feedback throughout the course.
Fully online so it's up to you to do good. Daily work is easy, you get multiple tries. Exams are extremely difficult and honestly you need more time than what is given. Overall better to take online that in person, but be ready to study and work hard.
This prof was super enthusiastic and made it interesting, even though I had no prior interest. It's pretty straight forward and easy to get through. Tests have a curve, but theres only 2 of them. Would definitely recommend enrolling with friends to study together.
Daily work is pretty easy, just read a chapter and do the modules. You have one week to do the work, but it takes about maybe 2 hours. The tests are the hardest part, there is definitely not enough time to complete them so work fast. But he does replace one of the 2 tests if you score higher on the final exam.
Great professor! The class is challenging, but if you enjoy the material like I do, then you can easily make an A or B. Otherwise, you may not like this class. The professor was very nice and understanding especially regarding technical difficulties. Attendance and paying attention will help you succeed tremendously.
I took his async class. Gave lots of practice examples in the lectures with similar problems on the quizzes/tests. 2 tests, 1 final, but he drops one. DO THE PRACTICE EXAMS! they help a lot (he gives explanations for the answers) and can use on the tests as they're open note. I never read the textbook and did fine with just the lecture material
Worst professor. Tests do not match practice questions. You can study for hours and know the material and not do well, along with the added pressure of very limited time to complete the test. In addition to this, TA appeared to not even understand the material themselves during office hours and the prof. essentially told you to "figure it out."
The way this class is structured kinda sucks. It's very organized but he does not set you up for success on the exams AT ALL. There are two practice exams for each exam that prob helped with 1/4 of the questions on the exam. Also ur grade completely depends on 3 exams. Like the participation quizzes/ modules due every week barely matter. STUDY HARD
Verduzco is a very tough grader. There are essentially only practice quizzes and participation quizzes that count as grades, which were not bad at all, but when it came to the exam it's much harder. Essentially if someone in your family isn't dead and you have documentation to provide as proof, you won't be able to redo any assignment/test.
Verduzco's asynch layout was great. Typically had 1 module per week where there's 5ish videos on concepts with participation exercises and quizzes throughout w/ multiple attempts. He was a fantastic lecturer where his videos are concise. However, his EXAMS ARE HARD BUT DOABLE. You need to have a deep understanding of A LOT OF CONTENT. I rec. him
I loved the format of Verduzco's online class. He made things very structured and easy to hone in on certain concepts. The tests were a little nerve-wracking but I think he really does everything he can to help you do well. Need to study though to do well, so you have to do your due diligence on your part as well. Overall he's a great professor!
Prof. Verduzco's teaching content and approach is awesome. The lecture videos and demo problems are really helpful. However, I think his exams are unnecessarily difficult. A lot of students could have done better if the exams weren't weighted so high and if the questions were more suited to the time that is given. Also bad at answering emails.
1/2 your grade easy to do. HW + quizzes get multiple attempts, find a helpful group chat if you're stuck. However, the tests are pretty difficult. If you are a last-minute studier you will struggle. You NEED to find outside practice problems for the math. Take previous years' exams and practice exams and you will be okay. Can use notes on exams.
i think the online course is organized well. there is a module each week with 3 participation grades (u get 3 tries) and sometimes 1 assignment a module. the videos are clear and he gives good examples. the tests are weighted heavily (50%) but i feel like his exams arent as hard as everybody says they are. theres a lot of content but its easyish
The only B I ever got at UT so far. His tests are ridiculously hard and does not prepare you for them whatsoever. Look for another prof
You will do well if you pay attention and take advantage of all the practice questions. What's frustrating is the assignments - I would get all of the answers correct on them but still lose points for reasons I'll never know because you don't get feedback. When I reached out for this I was given vague explanations so it was difficult to improve.
David Verduzco is a great professor, the video lectures in the online class are great and he explains the topics thoroughly. HOWEVER, the exams are much harder than the practice material, worth 50% for 2 tests. Be sure to study ahead of time, he provides practice exams, but they are easier than the real exam. Doable class, pay attention to details.
Class is very interesting and gives you a pretty solid accounting base. However, 50% percent of the grade is based on 2/3 exams that are way more difficult than anything covered in lectures. Even the practice problems provided include topics not covered in class. Take the class at ACC if you can.
Yikes. I'm pre-med and this class is harder than either of my genchem courses as no matter how much you study, you will see questions on the exam that you've never seen before and that are honestly unfair. Exams are nothing like the practice problems he teaches. I was really excited about his liveliness and class at first - now I'm disappointed.
Videos were very entertaining and engaging. However, the exams were very difficult. The exams are way harder than the quizzes on the modules and assignments. Great professor but hard exams.
This class is pretty easy but you actually have to watch the lecture videos online to do well. The tests are kind of difficult but can be done.
I SUCK at math! Class mandatory for business minor; (as a senior I had no choice) .Great teacher, but if not for the group me I would have failed. 50% & 43% on both exams (worth 50%); got help from classmates on assignments (got A's) = C- in course. A dub is a dub ! but pls ask for help if math isn't ur strong suit! He WON'T do favors so DONT ask!
he seems like such a fun and sweet man, but his exams... do not be gaslit into taking a business minor for funsies
This class was challenging but doable. Highly suggest studying for test in groups, and working on the assignments with others. Tests were weighted very heavily (two tests, one optional final) and there's barely any extra credit. Tests asked about very niche things and require problem-solving, and the textbook wasn't that helpful.
Honestly, if you do the work it is a simple class. The exams aren't bad and he drops your lowest one. The assignments are open for a long time, and they're pretty self-explanatory. Its just grouping numbers with categories for a whole semester and doing some middle school math.
Verduzco is a nice guy and good professor, this class is just difficult. Practice exams were not comparable to the actual exams, actual exams were way harder. DEFINITELY take this class in-person if possible, probably would not have done well if I was taking it online.
The tests are 50% of the grade and they are a bit challenging. But, it is very doable to get an A if you stay diligent with the notes/practice. Start studying for tests min 4 days in advance, take very detailed notes (tests are open-note) and do all the practice he gives and you should be fine. The rest is quizzes and assignments which are easy.
I got C's on the Exam 1&2 b/c Idigitally write notes and it was a STRUGGLE scrolling. Exams are open-note 50%, TYPE all notes in a doc and write down EVERY thing he says (his lectures are good). I made a huge doc for the 3rd exam and control F for it got me a literal 99 on it. Lowest of 3 exams dropped. Exams much harder than practice problems.
Really nice professor who teaches the content very well. If you stay on top of the work, it's a pretty straight forward class.
I took 17 hours, and 6 courses as a BCH major... and somehow this course caused me the most suffering. This professor isn't great in regards to how his lectures translate to graded assignments and exams. The lectures are boring. Also, the first exam comes as quite a shock seeing how easy all the practice was. Thankfully, he drops an exam.
Class was far more difficult than necessary due to poor explanations that required many students to rewatch lectures constantly. No need to buy the textbook, as it's overpriced and more confusing than the lectures. Slow to reply to emails, and repeatedly refused to add approved exam accommodations until I threatened to get the D&A office involved.
This class is for those who are non-business majors, but the professor taught it like it was for business majors. We would cover formulas in the online lecture and use the same process during the quizzes. However, he would not follow this during the exam. This slows down getting through the exam which is timed.
Professor Verduzco teaches the material well, but the class is challenging. The exams are tough and require detailed notes - using Unstuckstudy ai for practice problems helped me prepare. Stay on top of the work, form study groups, and you can get an A. Overall, a worthwhile class.
THIS CLASS IS HARD!!! Professor Verduzco is hard to reach, his lectures can get confusing real quick. The textbook is honeslty useless. The class isn't horrible but you have to work really hard for an A. He makes it too difficult, and if you bomb the Exam (which most people did) you're in trouble.
Easy and straightforward class, lectures are good but need to be on 2x speed. Do the modules and use the same formulas on exams and you're chilling. Courseload is probably 2-3 hours every 1.5 weeks.
Professor Verduzco is AMAZING!!!! Seriously one of the best professors that I have had at UT. He truly cares about his students and will do anything to help them succeed. He does instapolls every class for participation and practice. Go to class!!! He makes lectures interesting and its easier to follow along in person than it is online!
He was so rude and unprofessional. He is not very understanding at all, and lacks empathy for students. The exams were so difficult and most people I know as well as myself bombed them. Never turn in anything LATE because he will not take partial credit. I wish I hadn't taken this class. Would not recommend. Only take this class if u really need.
Though the Professor was lively during the online lectures, he was so useless when it came to the exams and some assignments. The tests were completely different from reviews that we were given and overall the resources in this course were not helpful at all.
The async class was fine, especially with study partners. The concepts are simple, mainly involving reading tables and basic addition/subtraction. Exams are async, and you can skip the final if your grade is good enough. Overall, I didn't learn much from the course.
For most of this class, I had no issues with this professor. Deadlines are absolute. The reason Im giving him such a low score is because of the absolute power trip this man goes on for the final. You cannot move your final unless you have a conflicting exam. No exceptions. Grandpa died? Medical issues? House burned down? This man does not care.
This class was online and very fun to go through. 2 exams and 1 final optonal to drop lowest and drops in all copmontents. Class was self paced so it was up to you to learn. Super easy if you studied and did every assignment with notes. Note everything he says. Exams are not proctored. Practice the problems and it should be easy a.
Dr. Verduzco was a lousy lecturer that didn't explain concepts and practice problems well, even when you took the time to email him about test problems. Forward through the lectures and do many many practice problems in order to prepare for the tests. He gives a curve at the end ranging from 0.5-1 points on your final grade.
Take this class if you want to take exams that are nothing like the class assignments or practice exams. The concepts are actually fairly simple and easy to understand but I just felt that the exams were full of trick questions worded oddly. Definitely difficult for the scope of this class. I studied for 5 days for the final and still struggled.
Nice guy, not very personal but to the point with lectures. Can go a bit too fast and lecture slides are not 100% available outside of class. Pay attention, don't be afraid to ask questions, and show up to class if doing in person. It is not that difficult if you do those.
Weekly modules were very manageable and the videos he posts cover all information that you need. Kind of boring content but not difficult to get an A. Exams aren't difficult, but take awhile so make sure you pace yourself.
Sweet sweet man. I loved this class and Verduzco so much. If you're like me and are typically really bad at math but enjoy it when you understand it, this class is for you. Prof. Verduzco was so funny and I loved him as a teacher. I would 100% take this again!
There is only two exams and a "final" if you need to replace a midterm. Overall the class is pretty self explanatory and self paced but boring. The assignments can be long and time consuming. Tests are not proctored and make up most of ur grade. Professor seems nice but I didnt need to interact with him ever.
the TA's atleast for my semester were terrible compared to my other math classes ive had. you have chatter to ask questions about any of the assignments but they take days to reply or dont give you an answer at all...
Proper viewing of the amazing lectures is almost mandatory not only for the grade but also the process of learning. This is a very useful class for personal finance as well which helped interest me during the lectures. Additionally, the class is very clear cut and doing all the exercises and quizzes throughout the course helps a lot for the exams.
I thought Professor Verduzco was great! The lectures are easy to follow. I did find the exam questions to be tougher than the homework, so doing the practice problems is crucial. Also, the time allotted for the exam is pretty short, so you have to more quickly. There is no extra credit.
The exams make up most of your grade and are designed to trick you. I would highly recommend not taking this course, as I struggled more than I ever have taking a class for non-business majors. The professor was extremely unhelpful and the difficulty of the exams far exceeded that of the assignments and practice problems.
Hard class if you don't study. His exams are kinda hard to prepare for as well gl.
Any time I tried to get help from him, he was condescending and rude. His lectures are well-organized, but if you need something to be explained to you in more than one way to understand it, don't take this class.
Professor Verduzco is one of the best professors that I have had and explained each accounting concept so well. He made an effort to get to know his students and made it easy to ask questions in class. If you take him just pay attention in class and take notes and you will be fine. Highly recommend taking him in person rather than online!
Dr.Verduzco was amazing! I loved how organized his class was. He explains everything so well and his lectures are easy to listen to. His assignments are also very helpful in understanding the concepts. I would definitely take this class if you can!
Wrost professor I've ever had. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Not a super personable person one-on-one, but he's well-versed in accounting and has a lot of great experience. Class is very manageable, as long as you have time for homework after every class! Would recommend!
the tests are worth an inappropriate amount of your grade and he is super stubborn and non-negotiable about grades. there is a lot of homework and it often took up more time to complete than my own degree required classes.
The tests were (sometimes) poorly written and math heavy, making time your enemy. The content itself isn't anything crazy. I was able to cram everything 12 hours prior to the tests and got away with decently high scores. Therefore, if you study, you'd probably be super fine. Non-test assignments were nothing to lose sleep over.
This class is so, so test-heavy. He does not give you study resources, only a practice exam that is nothing like the actual test. You have to be on camera, and you cannot get up during the test. The videos and the textbook are not enough to prepare you for the tests (which are 60% of your grade). If you don't HAVE to take this class, DON'T.
I just didn't feel like this class was fair to students who studied using the given course material. The first exam was nothing like the practice exams and I felt very misled. The questions were clearly designed to trick you rather than actually test your understanding on the subject. I wouldn't take this course if you don't have to.
Exam questions are total clownery. Filled with ambiguity that he doesn't teach, and is nothing like the practice exams like he claimed.
Inspirational guy. Likes accounting
Exams are very different to the homework assignments and practice exams. They are also very complicated for a class that is designed for non-business majors.
Beware, he looks nice and caring, but this man will DROP your GPA like it's a hot potato. Seriously, GET OUT.
I have never struggled this much in a class and my grades have never been this low. Everything is confusing and contradicting. When you try to explain why you're struggling, he just reiterates the same thing he's been saying instead of trying to help you actually understand.
exams are too devious
This class is so so difficult!! I took it, felt so confident through all of the homework assignments, then bombed the first test. be warned that the tests are so difficult compared to assignments. You are expected to have a very deep understanding of the course information, but it is attainable!! The prof is so sweet but truly such a hard class!!!!
super passive aggressive and comes off as egotistical. exams were so much harder than anything you do in class, assignments, and exam reviews. You can tell he likes to see students fail. 0/10.
I overstudied for the first exam and still scored horribly. The practice materials didn't match the difficulty of the actual test. Two exams making up 60% of the grade and covering eight weeks of content, then ultra-specific questions make tests extremely challenging. This non-major class hurt my GPA so much bc of a lack of preparation resources.
This professor is horrible. He wants to see students fail and is VERY passive aggressive and rude when you contact him. Such an egotistical and terrible person. His tests are nothing like any of the assignments and practice material. If you round off by 0.001 of a number he counts it wrong and will respond when asked questions about it so rudely.
Accounting at UT is hard, however this is unnecessarily difficult. He is super passive aggressive and does not care about student concerns. After multiple students mentioned the unreasonable time for exams, he did not care to address it or listen to students. His lectures, course material, and attitude were the biggest waste of my semester.
This professor took the class too seriously (an accounting class for NON-BUSINESS MAJORS). The exams were nothing like the practice, way harder, super specific, and felt designed to make students fail. He's extremely passive-aggressive when you ask questions, and his grading is absurdly picky. This class wrecked my GPA for no reason.
He made me feel crazy for having valid concerns. The timing on exams were extremely impossible. He is super mean and doesn't care to understand students. His assignments are a waste of time because they have no correlation to the exams. It doesn't help that exams are 60% of the course grade. Also, you have to pay a couple hundred for the textbook.
The lion does not take this class
The class itself isn't too bad, but your grade is majority made up by very difficult exams. He is very bland when approached and will not change his mind. Very rude professor in general.
The class itself was challenging, however my experience with Professor Verduzco was good. He is very funny and would take time to explain challenging topics. I HIGHLY recommend taking the In-Person class, because I was able to ask lots of questions and get help. I rarely used the textbook to study for the exams. The practice exams were helpful.
He's an okay guy, but his exam deadlines are annoying. The big exams are always due around 4 or 5 pm, which is inconvenient. He will not reopen them if you miss one, saying it is not fair to others, which makes no sense. The exams themselves are fine if you read and prepare.
The exams aren't that bad if you just study a lot and do practice problems. Textbook isn't necessary but can help with practicing. The exams are a bit harder than the practice exams, but I don't think it's that big of a deal especially because he added a curve.
Kind-hearted, knowledgeble man with engaging lectures! People complaining are just bums. If you actually try, you will get an A/A-. Tests are fast paced and more difficult than practice problems, but are still manageable if you had put in the bare minimum effort of doing assignments and retaining information. Quizzes are also free (multiple tries).
This was the most challenging college class I have ever taken, and I'm a STEM major. Please avoid this class, but if you can't: Don't cram last-minute for assignments, have online notes and PRINT them out, and know there is barely any time for tests. Practice tests were not a good measure of the actual test's difficulty. Good luck
The tests are difficult and unnecessarily fast-paced(and this is coming from someone who watched every single lecture, took hours of notes, and aced the projects). He repeatedly says to use the practice exams for review, but they are much easier than the actual exams. I would not recommend this class for anyone who values their GPA and time!
DON'T take this class, you're much better taking it at CC if he's the only option. Taking those exams felt like fighting a war even though they're open note. Lots of people dropped this class, I stayed and fought for my life for the final and still only got a B on it. Exams are similar to the practice assignments but be careful with rounding.
Tests are 60% of the grade, so it's nearly impossible to make a mistake and still get an A. I had to study for at least 24 hours for each test and I barely got an A. I'm not exaggerating. He's a sweet guy and is passionate about accounting, it was just too difficult to have a completely asynchronous class be so test-oriented.
