He's pretty awesome, but I didn't feel challenged in his class. He doesn't give much actual work which I know is good for some, but not for me.

He is such a great professor. No one could possibly regret taking him. There is a midterm and a final and a few papers in between. None of the work is terribly hard and you will do fine on the exams as long as you keep up with the reading and pay attention in class.

This class really challenged me and forced me to do some self-exploration on issues of race, ethnicity and culture. This was absoultely the MOST USEFUL class and BEST professor I've taken during my college career (and I've taken courses at 4 different coleges!).

The best instructor I've had. extremely helpful. Keep up readings, do all of the assigments (there are only a few) and on-line quizes. Not hard to get a good grade (got an A-!!)

This class was one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken [even thought I just a freshman :) ] I learned lots of great information about children and adolescents. I didn't do so hot in the class, though,...but it's because I didn't keep up with the readings and turned assignments in late.

Super teacher. Interactive teaching style. He doesn't lecture much, instead we did a lot of class activities and had class discussions. He grades hard but fair on the paper assignments.

i love Dr. Wakefield, we are so BFF for life. His teaching method is inspired and really aides in the learning process. He doesn't ask too much in the way of papers and the midterm and final aren't bad, as long as you read the book. Do the online quizes, and pay attention in class! he's the sweetest guy, can't wait to have him again jr. year!

Dr. Wakefield is a great prof. He teaches his subject very well. He has very high standards for his students. Dr. Wakefield will go out of his way to help his students. Have you ever had a teacher that is like your dad, older brother, favorite uncle, and best teacher all-in-one? Wakefield is this professor! He grades writing assignments HARD, and he really expects you to read lots, but I truly learned how to do better in the rest of my classes. Highly recommend for ANY class.Hope to have him again for sure.

Wakefield IS a tough grader, BUT VERY FAIR! He has HIGH expectations of his students. He DOESN'T waste time in class by simply going over the required reading, instead he makes class interesting by not lecturing much at all. You'll get jacked on the quizzes if you don't read, trust me:) Bottom line: Its a challenging class, but TOTALLY worth it.

Professor Wakefield is,without a doubt,ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!He is the BEST instructor at CSUN,hands down-his intelligence level and knowledge of the subject matter alone far surpasses that of practically every other professor I've had here.On top of that,he has one of the kindest hearts and his concern for his students is genuine and true.Love him.

He has a very gentle spirt and his students respond to that. He makes sure his classroom is a safe place to talk about race, gender, etc. He doesn't lecture but rather leads discussions. Assignments are not difficult but you are required to stay up with the assigned readings. My favorite class!

Wow! took this class during summer session--wakefield makes this so manageable and reasonable for a summer school class. weekly quizzes, optional final, and two papers. great class, highly recommend with wakefield. probably the professor with the best vibe on campus. you'll love him-guarantee it.

Dr. Wakefield is one of the few professors that actually can teach and make class a valuable learning experience. He incorporates museum trips, extra credit opportunities, videos in class relating to the topics like (Crash and Freedom Writers) and engages students in a lot of class discussion. Participate, study, and work hard to earn an A.

Dr. Wakefield is funny and seems to really enjoy what he does. His class is enlightening and I would recommend him to everyone. The requirements are not hard, just a lot of weekly reading (which quizzes are based on- course reader). A group assignment and partner assignment. THE FINAL IS OPTIONAL PEOPLE!! yahh. great teacher, very helpful. i actually liked going to class and found the discussions interesting. make sure you attend class thats where all the info for quizes comes from. reading is mostly on tests so stay up! if you miss you can usually get the jist from discussion. very helpful GREAT TEACHER!!! i would reccomend to everyone.

One of the most knowledgeable professors in the CADV department. Hes not easy, but the class is truly worth the challenge. Read and apply and theres no reason why you shouldnt get an A.

OMG...I have been WAITING FOR 3 YRS to take CADV 250 with Wakefield and was so excited to see he is teaching it now, i've been putting off this class cuz of whos been teaching it. I had him for CADV 150 CADV 350 and CADv 460 in the past and LOVE his teaching style. Highly recommend!

He is an awesome teacher! Really enjoys what he's teaching and makes things fun. Quizzes are pretty easy as long as you just do the readings and pay attention during the guest speakers. Even though it can get a little boring during some of the guest speaker sessions, in the end its really helpful.

Just finished taking the winter intersession and he structured the class in a way that allowed me to learn a lot without feeling overwhelmed. He?s well spoken, respectful of all students, and extremely knowledgeable. I have signed up for two of his classes in the Spring.

I think this is the BEST class/prof I've ever taken. Learned so much about how children learn&think + i am now a much better college student for it. loved the book and you can rent it at the bookstore

My second class that I've taken with Dr. Wakefield and his classes are definitely different than other classes I've taken. He makes the subject and topics fun. He's also adorable and funny!

Wakefield is by far my favorite professor at CSUN. He is now Department Chair and teaches only CADV 150, but I would definitely take him again if he were offering 400 level classes. =) He is so helpful, very nice and always willing to talk to anyone and answer any questions. He is truly the best. =)

Professor Wakefield is the best professor I have EVER had throughout my 4 years in college. He is clear, concise, extremely helpful, and not to mention his wit and charm ;) We have weekly quizzes which are really easy, 10 multiple choice questions and two big exams. Being in Professor Wakefield's class actually made me think about changing majors

Dr. Wakefield is a really nice professor very helpful. The class isn't that easy or hard but you still have to read the textbook and take class notes because the quizzes and midterm are based on that. 2 papers, quizzes, midterm, and a final. Tests are kinda hard but if you read the chapters and take good notes you should be fine.

ONLINE CLASS. Very interesting material. Class consisted of many write ups and had to raise a virtual child. Professor is awesome! Clear and gets back to emails in a timely manner. Quizzes were simple. If you actually read and get involved with the material you will learn a lot!

Online class. It was a lot of work. The first 3 weeks he asks you to write a 1-2 or 2-3 pg paper almost everyday and to read 2-3 chapters each week. The papers are easy & he's a fair grader. After the 3 weeks there are no more papers to turn in everyday. No midterm/final. At the end you just do a quiz and 2 easy papers. Do the work & you'll be fine

He is a good teacher but you are expected to read the textbook. Many of his questions come from the book about things he has never taught. He is very helpful and will explain if you ask him to. His tests are fair and many times include old test questions

Best professor I have ever had. He is so clear with everything, and really helps you understand things. He is a genius in child development. His class can be difficult if you don't attend class, and his powerpoints are not online. Quizzes are hard, but this has been my favorite class in my CSUN career. Definitely Take! took the class online this summer, loved it! the class is super interesting, no text book, theres article, some may be long but they are NOT boring. one of my fav classes! highly recommended!

I took this class over the summer and basically each weekday you had to read 30 pages, watch a 27 min video, take 5 practice quizzes (that you could retake) and then a test that was 30 multiple choice questions and 2 written questions. All really easy, open note, open book. Just time consuming. Totally recommend this class.

Such a down to earth guy, very smart & relates to students very well. The only thing I would complain about is that he didn't include a calendar in the syllabus, so it was hard to plan for the class because we didn't find out about quizzes until the week before. Other than that, would definitely recommend! Fun assignments too!

He is funny and personable. It's a big class and it is a good idea to go to his office hours. Quiz questions mostly come from the book's self quizzes. His midterm/final also have a lot of questions from self quizzes. It's a self taught class

I took him for an online class and it was EASY. The quizzes were based off of 30 minute videos(you don't even really need the book as long as you watch the online videos. One paper due & of course the online quizzes but NOTHING ELSE. My original professor was on maternity leave so Wakefield took over( Idk if he's usually this easy or not).

Possibly the best college professor and course I've ever had (and I've gone to four other colleges). Wakefield is incredible at making learning VERY interesting. Going to his class was a highlight of each week. Funny, reasonable, caring, and the smartest person I've met. Plus I learned cool things about the CSUN campus I never knew before. Do it!

AWESOME PROFESSOR. Amazing in Child Development. Classes are only lectures, no homework. GET TEXTBOOK. If you miss class, text book is really helpful. Tests can be tough if you don't study. Awesome guy, really sweet and will answer your questions. LOTS of extra credit opportunities. TAKE HIM.

The class consists of 5-7 quizzes, a midterm, a 3-4 page essay, and a final (non-cumulative). The quizzes are easy if you read the bookwatch videos. Expects you to have read the chapter assigned and spends class in discussion. It was an enjoyable class and he was a fun professor. He's clear and sends multiple reminder for assignments. TAKE!

Would recommend taking Wakefield! More than happy to help you out in any way he can. Drops lowest quiz grade, tons of extra credit. Lectures not so important, quizzes are based from the reading. One thing of advice don't fall behind on the readings, chapters are long!

Wakefield's class was all lectures, but is not impossible to pass. I got an A by just doing alright on quizzes, and turning my things on time. He is a really cool, funny guy, but the class is mostly independent learning. I enjoyed him, and he wants his students to succeed.

This was my fav. Class this semester. I learned a lot & everything was interesting. There's lots of reading, I always procrastinated & read last min. But the quizzes are common sense so I always got nothing less than a c. He drops lowest quiz. Overall in the class I got an "A ". He gives extra credit and its good 2 talk 2 him so that he knows u.

Absolutely my favorite professorcourse throughout the semester! I always read the chapters a day or two before the quizzes & never received anything lower than a C. Only complaint: the 4-5 single page paper(but he did extend the due date which helped).

Fantastic professor & class and perhaps the BEST professor I've had as a college student. Wakefield made me WANT to read the textbook and I LOOKED FORWARD to going to class. Wakefield IS a professor you want to have before graduating college. I'm considering changing my major so I can take more classes with him. #bestprofessorever

He's a really great professor. Loved his personality and he was always willing to help in anyway he could. The only thing I hated was how he made us do a group project, especially with people who refuse to do any work. Other than that, the class was easy. Just read every chapter and you'll get an easy A. Had him my Freshman year, up to this day, one of my favorite classes and professors. You have a semester long assignment but it is easy they coincide with the lectures, and the assignment is online. Also did random attendance checks sometime for class credit or extra credit.

The best class I have taken in college so far! He is so funny and totally understanding when it comes to grading. I had a blast ever single day and have honestly learned so much from him. if you get a chance TAKE HIS CLASS!

Extremely clear on written assignments and homework. Student-friendly, provides online and in-person office hours. Impressed by his preparation and dedication to student success. My only regret about the class was taking it online during the summer rather than in-person with Dr. Wakefield. Take him! You won't be disappointed!

Fantastic class during summer school. I absolutely loved it. Professor Wakefield has everything laid out well so that even when my family and I were on vacation I was able to submit assignments and complete quizzes. The self-paced format gave me flexibility to get work done when convenient for me highly recommend 150 with Wakefield.

This was one of my first summer courses ever and I had a great experience in regards to this course. Participation matters as there are weekly readings/videos you need to complete in order to participate in the discussions. The course was well organized and I love the fact that it was self-paced. Overall, the content of this course was interesting.

I took 4 summer classes and this was one. I ended up with an A. I loved how well organized this course was and self-paced. You can email Dr. Wakefield and he responds fast. There are a lot of readings and videos. Simple assignments. Everything was easy to understand. I recommend him and his summer course!
