Very easy to talk to about lessons and group discussions. Hard grading scale only 100 pts for the entire semester. Only 4 tests all of 20 questions. All around great professor.
4 tests worth 20 points. Most of the test is based on lecture materials not chapter reading. 20 points for attendance/participation. He is quirky and cute and at times a bit awkward. Passionate about his field. Fairly easy "A" but you do have to do the reading. I would take him again.
Hard class, but great professor. Super interesting and funny. Seriously hard class, do not take class unless your an Anthropology Major.
His class isn't crazy hard but you have to read the book. There are four tests and there 20 questions each. The class is just tests though. No extra credit either. I would would recommend.
He is an awesome professor. Very knowledgeable and funny. He actually is an anthropologist and brings his own experiences and stories to help clarify points. I would highly recommend him.
Great class/prof...show up, participate, pay attention, read assignments, get A. No homework, just read. Half group disc, half lecture.
All around a great professor. Work is easy, very few tests and only reading for homework. In class participation is needed but he makes it very fun. He keeps things interesting and is passionate about what he does. Don't be scared to take his class, you won't regret it.
Professor Wangsgard is super smart and funny. Great at keeping the class interesting and teaching in ways everyone can understand. I have also taken his Anth 106 class, It was hard. But I would definitely recommend Dr. Wangsgard as a Professor.
very passionate and helpful.
He is a great professor! I thought anthropology was going to be so boring, but he makes is really fun and enjoyable. He uses his own experiences as examples in his lectures. I would recommend him!
The best instructor I have ever had and that includes High School. This man is very passionate about his job and he doesn't seem satisfied until everyone knows what the subject. I highly recommend this professor to anyone who is willing to contribute nothing but to gain a lot of knowledge and be amazed of how good this professor is.
For a not so interesting subject (for me) this professor made it fun and enjoying to be in class. Every week there is an in class discussion so reading from the txtbook is mandatory, his exams are fairly easy (4 in all) no essays, just discussions and exams! Great professor :)
I love Dr. Wangsgard. He is an amazing professor who is very passionate about what he does and it carries over when he teaches and makes it more interesting. I would most definitely take his class again.
Okay so not only is this class seriously one of the most interesting classes that I have ever taken, but Professor W is so funny and not to mention hot. He makes the class ten times better than what it already is. The class is not challenging, just do your work and show up to class and you will be. I got an A and had a great time as well!
I had no interest in anthropology until I took his class. He makes it fun and interesting. He's very approachable. He has a good sense of humor and he knows how to teach well. Study the books and notes and you will pass. Seriously, if you fail with this guy, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Dr. Wangsgard's class was very interesting! Caution: This 209 class is all about sex, sexuality, & gender, so some of the videos/pictures/etc are graphic. Overall, I'm glad I took the class; Dr. Wangsgard is interesting, funny, and helpful. Show up, do your readings/notes, and you'll be fine!
Great teacher! He has lots of information and is a very intelligent man. The class wasn't too hard, I studied about 2 hours for each test and got an A in the class. You do need the textbooks, but you can buy the older version, i bought both textbooks for probably 15$. Attendance is mandatory if you want a high grade!
DAVID BECKHAM HOT!! Tests are SUPER easy. Print out & study the power points (use them to take notes during lectures). He clearly tells you what will be on all four, 20 question tests. He is funny, handsome and the material is VERY interesting! I would take his classes again, and again. I aced it by using his printed out power points he talks about
I really enjoyed Professor Wangsgard's ANTH 101 class. It's an easy A as long as you print out and study the slides, read the required readings, and go to class. Class attendance is a requirement.
Super interesting class! I learned a lot and it was fun learning from him! There's two textbooks but only the one with the articles is necessary. The test are really easy too. You just need to pay attention of course.
Professor Wangsgard is such an intriguing and passionate individual. He is a captivating speaker and makes what would normally be a more slow subject, very riveting. He is very helpful whenever you have questions or need assistance. His test are very simple.. Its straight from the lecture material. Be sure to participate in class! Loved him!
I love this professor. I wish all professors taught like him. The grades are divided by 20% participation, and then 4 tests worth 20%. They're easy if you paid attention in lecture. He makes the lectures so interesting and is very smart. Very easy going, well-mannered guy. Highly highly recommend!!!
He is s very entertaining teacher, he laughs at his own jokes which is halarious. Graded on 4 tests, participation/attendance, group discussions once weekly based on the articles out of the book. read one chapter a week. Book is necessary, I would reccomend taking him!!! HE IS GREAT and has a nice smile (:
Have to agree with everyone on this teacher. Excellent class, excellent instructor. Read the chapters, study the slides and questions and you will get an A. Very pleasant personality.
He made learning a joy. The material covered was presented in a way that was easy to understand and thato anyone stuck. His teaching style is one of the best at CSN. I'd definitely recommend taking his class to anyone who has to take Anthropology.
Must attend class but he knows all the topics very well and makes anthropology interesting. You have to study for the tests, but he emphasizes what will be on the test. He loves Anthropology and I would recommend anyone to this class.
He made anthropology very interested, and infused an anthropological way of thinking into every real life situation. Show up for class and study what he emphasized and you will get a high grade. I would love to take him again.
he makes the class so interesting! he makes the content of the course very understanding and he pretty much makes the class as easy as you want it to be. he is a very funny professor. His tests are very lecture based there may be some reading material on the test but you rarely see that. I would definitely recommend this teacher.
GREAT professor!he knows all the material VERY WELL. He's good at teaching and explaining things. Love him so much. TAKE HIM!
This class was interesting and the the professor is awesome. There are 4 exams and attendance is for a grade, there are also some in class written assignments over the course reading, but those are fairly easy. this class is differently worth taking.
He is the best professor I've ever had at CSN! Makes the class fascinating, he is very knowledgeable and tells lots of jokes :) It also helps that he is EXTREMELY attractive. I would recommend this course to anyone, 4 exams and weekly group writings in class, easy to get a good grade if you study.
This class is awesome! He is an incredible professor. He makes the class extremely interesting and fun. You have to do the course reading. The class is outlined by each day in the syllabus so you know what to expect before the class begins. 4 exams all graded equally and attendence is also graded.
Favorite class ever!! Very great professor who knows his stuff! Very clear and well explained! You can tell he loves teaching! Course material is very easy and well explained!
AMAZING PROFESSOR! I would definitely recommend him for any future classes!
For me, a person that is not interested in Anthropology whatsoever, this class was fairly easy but it was still very dull. He is a very knowledgeable and nice man. 20 question tests and readings and he also grades attendance. I do recommend for people that need to take Anth for a pre-req and people that want to learn more in that subject.
The class was very easy and he put heavy emphasis on topics that were going to on his exams. The 4 exams were all around 20 multiple choice questions. Just print out his slides before class and take notes on them. Memorize the slides that were covered in class and it is an easy A
Really great teacher, the class was fun. His lectures are interesting and he likes to engage the class. This was a class I ended up wanting to attend.
He is really an amazing professor! I enjoyed his class a lot and would love to take another one of his classes!! He is very knowledgable and he also has personal experience in the subject that he incorporates. It's very interesting and I learned a lot in his class!!!
I love this class, it's such an interesting subject and the teacher is entertaining as well. I would recommend this teacher, if you study all the lecture notes well you should get a decent grade on the tests.
Take his class. Not boring at all. Easy A , just pay attention to the lecture then you will be fine.
Very interesting professor.Funny actually and you can tell he loves to teach.Looks easy but the finals are hard. Book is required.Really have to study for it.No extra points(except if u ask him for it if you consider going to the field study) :).Attendance is a must. Not an easy A for me honestly but it is really worth your time to take this class.
What an amazing class! The lectures were based off of the readings done at home, and the tests are a piece of cake. Reading material was expansive and rich so they were a pleasure to read. Professor is veerry handsome, knows his subject very well, and he's happy to answer any questions. Even did a field study on Fremont! Awesome professor :)
Professor Wangsgard is awesome! He is funny, makes class enjoyable, and engages his students with various group activities. Definitely recommend him. A+!
Very easy class, material can be boring at times, but I'd definitely recommend him!
Easy class. 11 reading assignments and four quizzes. Dr. Wangsgard did make some on the fly adjustments to the quizzes, I'm assuming because of the class only being 4 weeks, and that helped out tremendously. I'm sure he's a great teacher in class. Didn't get a chance to really interact with him online because of shortened class.
Fantastic teacher. Take him. Awesome, with sense of humor. Amazing lectures. If you even are not interested in anthropology you will love it by the end of the course.
He's funny and a really good prof. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and read, you'll do fine! Just try to participate when you can.
Wangsgard is passionate about Anthropology and does take time to explain the lectures well. His lectures aren't boring and does add humor to them. There are readings, and 4 exams. Attendance is counted toward your grade. As long as you study and read you'll do fine. Exams are based upon readings and powerpoints.
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. You only really need one text book and it is typically around three dollars on amazon. He covers everything in the other book in lecture. Professor Wangsgard was so funny, kind, and passionate and made me love the subject. I recommend this guy to everyone. Definitely take him!!
easy going. funny. easy. attend his class and pay attention to his lecture and powerpoint ( he makes it really interesting). the tests are short (20-25 questions) and derived from the powerpoint or the readings.
Lot's of reading in the class, but pay attention to the lecture slides, most of the tests questions are from there. He provides the slides online as well. You read a lot of articles on different cultures. It's an easy class but boring.
Overall a good teacher. All-semester project of creating a language with your group. It's pretty easy until you have to figure out what your script is going to be. There's a skit for your final presentation as well as a final exam. Be prepared to meet with your group outside of class. Interesting lectures. Be prepared to write or take your laptop.
Wangsgard is a very friendly yet clear Anthro. professor. It is best if you read your assigned reading and take some notes from his powerpoint due to the exam question possibility. I like how he is a organized yet able to explain the concept of the topic. Also, he does group work where you have to discuss questions with your group to answer.
The class is an Easy A! He's a fun, energetic, and highly intelligent professor. Everything on the tests are what are in the notes, reading, and films watched. Just make sure you show up for all of the days with the article readings. That can make or break your grade.
great professor. all exams are multiple choice straight from the powerpoint on canvas. clear notes and exams. reading assignments every other class with group discussions. group discussion questions are posted online. articles are from the book and canvas. buy the book copy all the readings and return the book.
fun lectures and interesting material. very cool class. tests are MC 24-30 questions. all form the lectures and powerpoint. easy class. my favorite class of that semester
gets into deep conversations. talks from his experiences. hes very passionate about his class and what we talk about. loves to have conversations about what he just talked about in the class and feedback on what people think about the subject. test are tough if you don't study. you will learn a ton from this man. I would take another class
This class was the easiest online course I have ever taken. It was only 4 weeks but an easy A+ for sure. Just follow the syllabus and copy notes from his power point slides. All tests take notes off the power points basically an open book. Would surely take again, very happy. Recommend him to anyone needing to take anthropology for credit.
I took Dr. Wangsgard Antro 101 class online during the summer. Clear direction is given in the syllabus course Intro. Weekly reading responses are simple if you actually do the required reading and a weekly quiz based on reading. He provides students with a study guide that is very helpful when taking quizzes.
There will be assigned readings every week. In class, you get to discuss with a group and answer questions which you'll submit after class. He'll discuss the concepts after the group work. He believes in interactive learning. For the finals, you will be needing to write a paper about the books you've tackled.
Took his class last semester and currently taking his class once again this semester. He's honestly a knowledgable and great teacher.
Probably one of the most intelligent professors ive had the opportunity to experience. Very crystal clear in his lectures, has a good sense of humor and also passionate about the subject he's teaching. He enables you to get a good grade in the class and he wants everyone to succeed. Highly recommended.
Great Teacher, Content for class is very interesting. Tests a decent challenge but doable. 2 shot tests. Inspires you to want to know more. Would take again if I needed a class such as this.
One of the best professors I've ever had. I became an anthropology major after taking his class.
He is one of the best teachers i have had so far. He does group discussions every other class which is easy. His lectures is where you can see how passionate he is about the field. He talks about his personal experience and has a sense of humor. He posts his slides on canvas which helps for the 4 exams he gives. He wants you to pass.
Lectures are interesting very organized and respected by students, would definitely take course again.
I took this professor twice for Anth101. He was nothing but helpful whenever needed. While there is a lot of reading outside of class, everything we were tested on was in the readings. His style of lecturing was just relaxed enough that you did not feel overloaded though. I actually felt like I learned a lot and that can be a rare feeling for me.
4 tests about 20 questions. Lectures one day, and then discussions on the readings the next. Sometimes there are films. If you take notes, participate, and listen to the points he wants you to remember then you will get good grades on the tests. Grades on participation so don't skip class.
Dr. Wangsgard is such an amazing professor! You will not regret taking his class. His lectures are very interesting, and this is where you see his passion come out. He is a kind hearted- caring man. Go over the powerpoints he posts online, read the book for discussion time and you will do great. I even decided on majoring in Anthro because of him.
4 tests and group discussions every other class. He is funny and he lectures great. Make sure to read the article readings for the group discussions and go over the PowerPoints for tests. I would definitely recommend taking him.
Take him. Hes awesome.
dr. wangsgard is an awesome professor and human being overall! after taking his class, i've received a whole new bound perspective for all sorts of different cultures around the world. hands down the most understanding and kindhearted professor i've ever had. don't be one of the guys that disrespects other cultures or ideas!
Enjoy he is great
Learned so much in this class. The lectures always followed the readings and had slides for all lectures and readings. If you do the readings and listen in class you will pass. Review all the slides form class for test and easy A
He is a brilliant teacher who is genuinely happy to see his students succeed in his class. He has a great sense of humor and makes everyone in his classes feel welcome as long as they are respectful. He may make your brain explode a little if you have never studied anthropology, but it's in a good way! Don't miss an opportunity to take his class!
The best!!! I didn't get an A+ because I never reviewed for the exams. but if you ca take him ((;
Dr. Wangsgard is amazing! His lectures are very interesting and he has so much knowledge and passion for anthropology. I learned so much in his class! I wish I could take him again. You will have to read a lot but the reading will help you with the exams. He gives 4 exams and a weekly group discussion with 1 question your group will be assigned to
While I enjoyed the class as a whole and the way it was structured, at times that professor felt a little too political. The class project is generally fun as long as you have a good group, and the content isn't too difficult if you study, but sometimes the lectures are a little grating if you don't entirely agree with his opinions.
He would go off on rants about politics and he blatantly LIED about Christianity in front of the whole class. (this is not coming from bias) he said there was a woman named "Lilith" who was before Eve and said Christians oppress women. Open the book of Genesis there was no Lilith. The class wasn't hard tho just SHOW UP, it's for a grade!
He was an absolute blast. Very good professor that you could tell knew his subject. Very intelligent and fun. I knew nothing about anthropology before his class and now I'm thinking of changing my major to it. The subject is so interesting and he made it that much more. Highest rating!
There's lots to do in the summer, accelerated, course but this teacher is by far easier than my other class. I also completely understand the material because he will let you see your graded quizzes, unlike my other class.
He made me want to change my major! Kind but not a pushover. Just show up and participate. He is ridiculously intelligent and clearly passionate about Anthro. I've heard nothing but glowing reviews of him on campus. Dr. W is an amazing professor & a wonderful person. His energy inspires people want to be there. Plus, he's strangely handsome!
He is amazing! The lectures he gives are so in-depth and covers the material well. He knows what he's talking about. The readings are very informative and we're graded on a few things. Make sure you read and participate. Definitely take any class he teaches. He's a great prof. and highly respected. It really helps that he's so smart and handsome!
Took a summer semester online. The assignments are EXTREMELY easy. Just three assignments a week, and at the end of the week is an exam. Not only that, the course material is pretty interesting.
Dr. W is the type of professor you want in all of your classes. He is kind, brilliant, straightforward, and VERY funny. In this class, know that you will have to do a ton of work outside of class with your group for the project as he doesn't give THAT much time in class. If you have questions, never hesitate to ask, he is happy to help.
My interaction with Dr. Wangsgard has been minimal, as it's an online course. One could likely get away with skimming and taking notes to pass, but the reading is fascinating. Some classes' video is the instructor reciting on Powerpoint what you just read, but the Nova hourlong specials that accompany my cultural anthropology class add quite a bit.
let me start by saying how much I enjoyed this class. Dr. Wangsgard is absolutely heaven sent! He is very caring and wants you to succeed in his class. Yes, you do have to read and must participate but if you do your part this class will fly by fast. Don't be shy to get in contact with him through email he responds very fast. Amazing take him!
Took the 4 week summer course, had weekly writing assignments, 3 videos to watch and weekly quizzes. Provides power points to help study for quizzes. Very caring professor, wants all students to succeed. Very clear syllabus, 80% of the grade was based on the weekly quizzes. The amount of work was not much at all, follow the syllabus and get an A.
I took the summer 4wk class, it requires a lot of reading 2-3 chapters a day 2-3 writing assignments a week & a 20 question exam at the end of the week based off of key terms and concepts which is found in the powerpoints that he provides. Class was surprisingly easy. I recommend, def an easy A. Not a hard grader I got 10/10 on all my assignments!
There were a lot of assignments and this class was fast paced since it was 4 weeks, but it was super easy! If you do all the work and read you will pass easily. Syllabus was super clear and he gave power point lectures to study for the quizzes. My only complaint is he graded a little slow, but not horribly slow.
Take him! Took the online class. 2 textbooks are needed, he provides one of them for you. Typical class was reading a chapter of the book, showing up to the online lecture, and then repeating. With each chapter we would read articles and discuss in class. 4 tests, really easy if you study the powerpoints and he tells what's on the test in lectures.
Do not take this class. Professor curses at students and lies. He enables student conflict and doesn't care. Tries to portray himself as a victim and when we are having a conflict caused by him he tells us to "deal with it." Never take this professor. He has no professionality and is not well-suited to run a class
grades aren't visible to see so I dont know my grade yet, dont recommend if you want to know your grade fast. reading every week is the only assignment given very easy to do(4-5 sentences). 4 exams each are 20 questions. the syllabus I recommend reading its short and quick to read. Grading is 15% assignments, %5 syllabus quiz, 80% exam.
I took the 4 week summer class. Exams were due at the end of each week based on the chapters read with only 20 questions. Weekly responses were due from separate story readings out of a textbook. Overall easy class, be prepared to read!
This class was very straightforward. You just read and take the quizzes for 4 weeks. It is the type of class where you don't need to reach out to the teacher.
I took his course as an accelerated summer course. It is VERY heavy on reading. There are also some movies to watch. You'll spend a lot of time reviewing material. There are many reading responses as well. Luckily, you are allowed to work ahead on the reading responses, which I recommend. You are not able to take the tests early.
Took this class in Fall of 2021 as a web-remote course. He is a great professor, and the way the class is structured is very interesting. The group project is really fun... as long as you get a group where everyone participates. Workload is very doable. Definitely recommend him, he has lots of interesting field stories that add to his lectures.
It’s the middle of the semester so I don’t have my grade back yet, however I expect to get an A because Dr. Wangsgard is AMAZING. By far the funniest professor I’ve had, very kind and understanding, and an easy work load. Read your chapters and a weekly 10 point quiz, 4 exams throughout the semester. I highly recommend taking his class!!
I took the summer class, we read from two books. Quizzes on one book, tests on another. This class was super simple and there was very helpful info in the powerpoints. However, if you slack and do not study you will get a bad grade in the class based on how the assignments are weighted. It actually made me nervous! But, I worked hard and got an A.
The class was super easy, you can study online for the test but he didn't grade any of my assignments until the very end so I had to calculate my grade to make sure I was on track.
I took ANTH101 online and if you're looking for an easy A with little work, this is it. I didn't interact with Professor Wangsgard once this semester-- his syllabus is clear and assignments are easy to understand. There is two textbooks, but they're just online. I will disclaim that you can't see what your grade is until the end of the semester.
Honestly just show up to class, read the readings and ask questions n this class will be an easy A. Professor Wangsgard is a great teacher and extremely understanding, loved his class.
I took this professor because of the high rating here. It's the biggest disappointments at CSN so far. Extremely boring. Slow talker. Not able to get the students to interact with him during the lectures. Laughs at his own jokes. Very weird experience for me. It can be "an easy A" for someone, but if you really want to learn - stay away
Dr. Wangsgard is a pretty great professor. He's super textbook and lecture heavy, so be aware of that. Showing up to class is for credit, and it absolutely matters!
Read assignments, tests are straight forward. He gives you whole week to complete quizzes and exams. Easy A
Professor Wangsgard class was fun and easy. I enjoyed he's class, it's a great class for someone who is beginning college. It did not stress me out and I learned a lot. Go ahead and take his class!!!
Honestly Speaking, Professor Wangsgard was one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure to learn under. Not only does he care for his students, he gets them engaged and has fun doing so. Don't be afraid to joke with this professor, he does have a sense of humor and still remains quite professional. I would willingly take this class over again.
Graded only on tests and quizzes. 2 quizzes & 1 test a week all multiple choice. If you use quizlet to study you will do well.
Right off the bat, this class has a clearly outlined criteria each week. BEWARE: The professor purposefully doesn't list two required readings at the top of the syllabus and instead lists them in the random weeks they're required so you'll lose points on the very first quiz if you don't use Ctrl+F to look for them. Seeing your grade is disabled.
I had a wonderful experience with Dr.Wangsgard, I took his anth101 class and loved it. I am now taking his linguistic class for the upcoming semester. It speaks a lot when you decide to take the same professor for a different class! I highly recommend!
Passionate teacher. His lectures were always engaging and straight to the point. Requires 2 textbook, one is provided by the professor. Grades only on quizzes and exams, so study well (1 quiz a week). Don't be afraid to crack jokes, he has a sense of humor. You aren't able to see your grade until the end of the semester.
His class is very straight with one to two readings a week and a quiz. Prior to every exam, there is a documentary to watch. Overall it's very easy, even if the readings are boring sometimes.
high school 2.0 class fr. definitely boring, but he's rly passionate and pretty funny. quizzes and exams are VERY easy, just pay attention in class, take notes, and study a bit. make sure to read the articles and culture sketch chapters tho cuz he'll get a bit annoyed if not enough people participate.
Enjoyed taking his course! Lots of reading. I recommend using Quizlet to study for exams and quizzes.
I enjoyed this class, professor was laidback. Don't have to pay for the books, he has the books accessible on the modules. Just read the books and look at his power points you should pass the class with flying colors.
Professor Wangsgard's class is a straightforward ride. Engage with the lectures, do the readings, and you'll sail through this anthropology course. Unstuck AI's study tools helped me prep for quizzes and exams - a great supplement to the textbook and class notes.
Amazing professor!!! Take him!!
Dr. Wangsgard is a great professor! The required readings and videos are free on the Canvas homepage. All quizzes and exams are reliant on the reading and occasional videos. I would recommend using Quizlet to help you study. I do wish that he had made a video introduction for his online students so we could get to know him. Fast responder & kind!
SUPER SUPER EASY!! Such a nice guy too!!
Would definitely take his class again! Super caring and understands that life sometimes gets in the way. Ideal professor!
I recently took Mr. Wangsgard's class for the 2025 summer semester, which lasted four weeks. The syllabus was clear, and there was provided material such as the required textbooks and videos. There was alot to read, but it was enjoyable as it's an interesting subject. There's an intro quiz, 8 quizzes, and 4 final exams. As long as you study, easy A
Professor Wangsgard is hilarious, His lectures are engaging if you have a short attention span, you would love his lectures. He provides real-life examples of whatever point he is trying to get across. Attendance does matter- there are in-class discussions the readings can be a lot, but the information is easy to understand. Would def recommend
